Aerial Adventure Tree Trekking at Center Parcs, Guide For Families

During our recent trip to Center Parcs we were up early on Saturday morning for our Aerial Adventure Tree Trekking Challenge. Check out our Aerial Adventure and Tree Trekking guide for families below.

Now the Boys just love activities like this; so of course, Chris and I have got used to being dragged up climbing walls and tree trekking, so were mentally prepared for what was ahead at Center Parcs. This is the perfect activity for teens and adventurous families.

If you want to see me create my projects, follow me on Tik Tok and Instagram.

Guide To The Aerial Adventure And Zip Wire At Center Parcs

The Aerial Adventure At Center Parcs.

What is the aerial adventure.

Center Parcs Aerial Adventure is one circuit climbing through a tree assault course, this also includes, trapeze wires and climbing nets, ending with a zip-wire descent which usually takes around 1 hour. If you dont want to take part in the zip wire you can do the Ariel Tree Trekking, this is the tree assault course without the zip wire.

How High Is Tree Trekking At Center Parcs?

High, the height very between parcs, Whinfell Forest is higher than Sherwood Forest, However the Zip Wire climb is higher at Sherwood Forest and in my opinion better as you zip over a lake.

Tree Trekking At Center Parcs

Is The Aerial Adventure At Center Parcs Difficult?

Its not easy, I have seen grown men taken off shaking, however if you’re a family who likes an adventure you will be fine. Joe was whipping around this as soon as he was big enough to take part.

What Should I Wear For Tree Trekking?

  • Wear sensible closed in shoes with a bit of grip.
  • In the summer ensure you aren’t wearing anything flowy.
  • For the colder months wear warm lightweight clothes. You will wear a helmet so you dont need to worry about a hat. However I would advise thin warm waterproof gloves, especially for children, as that was our boys biggest complaint, cold hands!
  • You will be asked to remove all jewellery, watches, sunglasses and hair clips. There are safes available but I suggest for ease that you leave them in you lodge safe.

Tree Trekking At Center Parcs Everything You Need To Know

Is There A Minimum Age Or Height?

You must be 1.22 meter (4ft) to take part. Also children under 8 years must be accompanied on the course by a paying adult.

The maximum weight for the Aerial Adventure is 18 stone/114kg

Are You Attached To The Center Parcs Aerial Adventure Course?

Yes, this was my biggest concern the first time we took part all those years ago. But the safety wire is on a continuous loop so no clipping and unclipping. (until you get to the zip wire, and an instructor does this) It can be difficult to drag around trees, but of you get stuck the instructors (who are always close by) are there to help.

Is There A Tree Trekking For Younger Children At Center Parcs?

Yes, there is a Mini Trek at Whinfell Forest, Sherwood Forest and Longleat.

This is a mini version so little ones dont feel left out. Your little ones must be 2 years old and no taller than 1.2 metres. ( Just under 4 ft)

They are safely harnessed into a safety system, and the course is 1-metre-high which means parents cant support them along the course.

Our Review Of The Aerial Adventure

It’s amazing how activities like this can make the biggest and strongest of men turn to jelly, yet kids just fly round don’t they? Much to the disappointment of the boys, I went ahead so I could take the odd photo. Apparently I was quite slow, although I thought I did an amazing job.

Aerial Adventure Tree Trekking At Center Parcs

The climbing course is great, it is challenging you need to use your upper body strength to negotiate the entire course, then you get to the first zip wire! Now this requires nerves of steel as you have to jump off and zip wire over a river eeek.

I must say I really felt the pressure being in front as I would never had heard the last of it had I chickened out, or indeed shown an inch of fear. But do you know what? It was amazing I loved it. Once across I nervously watched the boys with my heart in my mouth. But they didn’t bat an eyelid, just jumped.

The Grand Finale Of The Ariel Adventure At Center Parcs Was Another Huge Zip Wire.

To be honest this felt easy after stepping off over a river. I would 100% recommend this as a family activity. We all loved it, yes you may have to push yourself a little and get over your fears; but that’s what being a Mum is all about isn’t it?

Here is a very short clip of the boys Zip wiring to the finish, yes I know I recorded it with my phone the wrong way round. But just wanted you to see how high it was, and  how much fun the zip wire is, it’s a great family activity.

And if you are wondering what to do at Center Parcs with teens? This a grea t Center Parcs activity to book, and has different levels making it the perfect activity for all ages.

This looks like so much fun and we were just at center parcs but I didn’t get a chance to do many activities it was more for christmas and all about the grotto but I definitely want to try it now. You convinced me. Looks like you had a blast love the photos. Thanks for linking up to Share With Me #sharewithme

Thank you Jenny, it was fab, so much fun x

It is a total thrill! I remember doing it in France a couple of years ago and being terrified yet loving it at the same time, like you say it was the kids that kept me going, I couldn’t back out with them all showing no fear! Your post brings it all back to me. Thank you for sharing on Country Kids

Thanks Fiona, yes I felt quite nervous but had no choice with the thought of how they would laugh at me if I had bailed out x

Important Safety Information

Trek™ rx & otw and mini trek™ ii otw coronary dilatation catheters.

CAREFULLY READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO USE. OBSERVE ALL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS NOTED THROUGHOUT THESE INSTRUCTIONS. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN COMPLICATIONS.

Indications

Applies to TREK™ RX & OTW 2.25 mm – 5.00 mm sizes only: The TREK™ RX & OTW Coronary Dilatation Catheters are indicated for:

  • Balloon dilatation of the stenotic portion of a coronary artery or bypass graft stenosis, for the purpose of improving myocardial perfusion
  • Balloon dilatation of a coronary artery occlusion, for the purpose of restoring coronary flow in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction
  • Balloon dilatation of a stent after implantation

Applies to MINI TREK™ RX and MINI TREK™ II OTW 1.50 mm – 2.00 mm sizes only: The TREK™ RX & OTW Coronary Dilatation Catheters are indicated for:

  • Balloon dilatation of a stent after implantation (balloon model 2.0 mm only)
  • Balloon dilatation of de novo chronic total coronary occlusions (CTO)

Applies to MINI TREK™ RX and MINI TREK™ II OTW 1.20 mm sizes only: The MINI TREK™ RX & MINI TREK™ II OTW 1.20mm Coronary Dilatation Catheters are indicated for:

  • Initial balloon dilatation of the stenotic portion of a coronary artery or bypass graft stenosis (≥ 70% stenosis).

Note:  (applies to 2.00 mm to 5.00 mm only): Post-deployment stent expansion testing was performed on the bench with the MULTILINK VISION™ and MULTI-LINK ULTRA™ stents. All stents should be deployed in accordance with the manufacturer’s indications and instructions for use.

Contraindications (applies to all sizes)

The TREK™ RX & OTW, MINI TREK™ RX and MINI TREK™ II OTW Coronary Dilatation Catheters are not intended to be used to treat patients with:

  • An unprotected left main coronary artery
  • A coronary artery spasm in the absence of a significant stenosis

Warnings (applies to all sizes)

This device is intended for one time use only. DO NOT resterilize and / or reuse it, as this can compromise device performance and increase the risk of cross contamination due to inappropriate reprocessing.

Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) should only be performed at hospitals where emergency coronary artery bypass graft surgery can be quickly performed in the event of a potentially injurious or lifethreatening complication.

PTCA in patients who are not acceptable candidates for coronary artery bypass graft surgery requires careful consideration, including possible hemodynamic support during PTCA, as treatment of this patient population carries special risk.

Use only the recommended balloon inflation medium. Never use air or any gaseous medium to inflate the balloon.

Balloon pressure should not exceed the rated burst pressure (RBP). The RBP is based on results of  in vitro  testing. At least 99.9% of the balloons (with a 95% confidence) will not burst at or below their RBP. Use of a pressuremonitoring device is recommended to prevent over pressurization.

To reduce the potential for vessel damage, the inflated diameter of the balloon should approximate the diameter of the vessel just proximal and distal to the stenosis.

When the catheter is exposed to the vascular system, it should be manipulated while under high quality fluoroscopic observation.

Do not advance or retract the catheter unless the balloon is fully deflated under vacuum. If resistance is met during manipulation, determine the cause of the resistance before proceeding.

Do not use, or attempt to straighten, a catheter if the shaft has become bent or kinked; this may result in the shaft breaking. Instead, prepare a new catheter.

Do not torque the catheter more than one (1) full turn.

Treatment of moderately or heavily calcified lesions is considered to be moderate risk, with an expected success rate of 60 – 85% and increases the risk of acute closure, vessel trauma, balloon burst, balloon entrapment, and associated complications. If resistance is felt, determine the cause before proceeding. Continuing to advance or retract the catheter while under resistance may result in damage to the vessels and / or damage / separation of the catheter.

In the event of catheter damage / separation, recovery of any portion should be performed based on physician determination of individual patient condition and appropriate retrieval protocol.

Precautions (applies to all sizes)

Note the “Use by” date specified on the package.

Inspect all product prior to use. Do not use if the package is open or damaged.

This device should be used only by physicians trained in angiography and PTCA, and / or percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA).

Prior to angioplasty, the dilatation catheter should be examined to verify functionality and ensure that its size is suitable for the specific procedure for which it is to be used.

During the procedure, appropriate anticoagulant and coronary vasodilator therapy must be provided to the patient as needed. Anticoagulant therapy should be continued for a period of time to be determined by the physician after the procedure.

If the surface of the TREK™ RX & OTW, MINI TREK™ RX or MINI TREK™ II OTW Coronary Dilatation Catheter becomes dry, wetting with heparinized normal saline will reactivate the coating.

Do not reinsert the TREK™ RX & OTW, MINI TREK™ RX or MINI TREK™ II OTW Coronary Dilatation Catheter into the coil dispenser after procedural use.

The safety and effectiveness of this PTCA balloon catheter for the treatment of in-stent restenosis (ISR) have not been established.

Applies to TREK™ RX and MINI TREK™ RX only (APPLIES TO ALL SIZES), in addition to above:

The design and construction of these catheters do not provide the user with distal pressure monitoring capability.

Applies to TREK™ RX 4.50mm and 5.00mm sizes only, in addition to above:

With 4.5 mm and 5.0 mm balloon dilatation catheters, some increased resistance may be noted upon insertion or withdrawal into or out of the guiding catheter. Choosing a larger guiding catheter size may minimize this.

Applies to TREK™ OTW and MINI TREK™ II OTW (APPLIES TO ALL SIZES), in addition to above:

Bench testing was conducted with 0.014” (.36mm) constant diameter guide wires to establish guide wire compatibility. If another type of guide wire is selected with a different dimensional profile, the compatibility (e.g., wire resistance) should be considered prior to use.

Adverse Events (applies to all sizes)

Possible adverse effects include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Acute myocardial infarction
  • Arrhythmias, including ventricular
  • Arteriovenous fistula
  • Coronary artery spasm
  • Coronary vessel dissection, perforation, rupture, or injury
  • Drug reactions, allergic reaction to contrast medium
  • Hemorrhage or hematoma
  • Hypo / hypertension
  • Restenosis of the dilated vessel
  • Total occlusion of the coronary artery or bypass graft
  • Unstable angina

@JodieY - January 2024, Whinfell Forest

"We had a lovely family getaway Monday to Friday. Our little girl loved the baby sensory class and swimming. It was the right level of fun but also relaxing. We enjoyed the winter lights and ate in the sports cafe, Bella Italian and the Pancake house."

Officially a Center Parcs convert!!

@maihemphotography - May 2023, Whinfell Forest

"I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing, safe, and friendly place to holiday with my dogs.

Every single staff member at the Whinfell Center Parcs were authentically friendly and happy.

All our booked activities were accessed with ease and thoroughly enjoyable.

The lodges were immaculately clean with everything you need for your break... and the bed was so comfortable, especially after a full day outside walking or doing fun activities.

As someone who has never been to Center Parcs before, this is definitely a UK holiday I'll be booking on a yearly basis from now on."

  Great location

@Helen D   - May 2023, Whinfell Forest

"Our lakeside apartment was a perfect size. We didn't need a lodge as there was only two of us. It was very clean and overlooked rows of trees, which was great for watching the birds. The park is beautifully maintained and very clean. Lovely paths to enjoy our daily walks and endless activities on hand. The food we had from restaurants was delicious and were generous with their portions. It's a great location for visiting the lakes."

The perfect place to picnic and play

A little girl playing on a wooden climbing frame

9 June 2021

We’re so excited to announce that our brand NEW play area has just arrived at Longleat Forest! There’s plenty for a variety of ages to enjoy, from the coconut rope that slopes upwards gently swaying in the breeze to the impressive multi-tower structure.

It’s located outside of the Plaza and is the perfect place to picnic and play whilst your little ones enjoy their outdoor adventures.

The new play area has been developed to encourage children to get the most out of their playtime.

  • The balance beam is a playground classic that trains the core stability and equilibrium which improves the fundamental motor skill of balance
  • The bird’s nest swing is a firm favourite, it allows children to work on spatial awareness as well as agility
  • The waterlily balance posts create an imaginative space for play
  • The net elements across the play area are perfect to encourage children to use their cross-coordination. The wide spacing between the rungs is great for leg, arm and core muscles

Outdoor play is more than just time spent in the park, it’s your children’s learning and development.

Don’t miss out on the other play areas around the village, we also have them located in The Village Square, Sports Plaza, The Beach and have a little hidden gem located in the Fir Area of the village. So much space to play!

If you have had so much fun in our play areas but your little ones fancy a challenge, why not try one of our leisure activities, Mini Trek ? This exciting aerial rope course is specially designed for younger children aged 2-5years, giving them the chance to have their very own adventure in a safe, secure environment. Once they are kitted up in harnesses, help guide your little ones as they balance, swing, leap and navigate their way around the course and build confidence as they go.

Have you been to visit our play areas yet? Or has your little one taken on the Mini Trek Challenge? Don’t forget to share your pictures with us using the hashtag #MyCP on Social Media.

Center Parcs Longleat, Overview of 5 of our Favourite Activities

Center Parcs Longleat blog

Center Parcs Longleat

We were looking after the Boys for a long weekend while G and Mr G were at Mad Cool in Madrid, so we decided to take them to Center Parcs Longleat . We’ve never been to Center Parcs, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Longleat Center Parcs is only an hour and half away from us so we thought that would be perfect for a weekend as it’s not too far to travel.

On the Friday we collected the boys from school and all jumped in the car for the drive to Center Parcs, we’d already packed up the car.

The traffic was heavier than usual, even for a Friday, as there had been a couple of crashes so it took us about 2 hours to get there.

Center Parcs Longleat Map

Arriving at Center Parcs Longleat

The arrival process was very easy. As we drove in we saw the arrivals lodge, which is a bit like a drive through. You just drive up to one of the windows when the light goes green and the check in process only takes a couple of minutes as they give you your wrist bands that act as your accommodation and locker key.

Once you have your wrist bands you’re free to drive to your accommodation to unload and then return the car to the car park where it stays for the weekend.

Driving through the forest to our lodge I was amazed at how large the Parc was. The scenery at Longleat is stunning and although there are a lot of lodges it doesn’t feel over crowded.

Our Accommodation at Center Parcs Longleat

We had booked the weekend quite late so there wasn’t a lot of choice of accommodation left. We booked a 3-bedroom lodge in “Firs” which is one of the furthest away from the main areas. However, with the Land Train at Longleat this didn’t prove to be a problem as it made it very easy to get to all the places we needed to.

You should note that Longleat is very hilly and has some very steep hills which make cycling quite challenging work in some places, so the Land Train came in very handy.

Our lodge was fairly basic, but it was clean and tidy and had everything we needed.  There were 3 bedrooms, a large bathroom, a large open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area.  The lounge had patio doors which opened out on the forest with an outdoor table, chairs and BBQ.

It was airy and spacious and although it was close to the other lodges they were positioned in such a way so that you didn’t feel overlooked.

5 of the Boys favourite activities at Center Parcs Longleat

The list of available activities is huge, and it was hard to choose. I didn’t want the Boys to be spending all their time doing organised activities as I wanted them to be able to enjoy the forest and the swimming pool.

These were 5 of the activities they enjoyed while we were there.

Laser Combat - £26.50 each for an hour

The Laser Combat was a bit of a trek over to the outdoor activity centre, but it was an enjoyable walk. One of the wonderful things about being in a forest location was although it was hot and sunny day it was nice and cool in the shaded forest.

The Laser Combat minimum age is 6 so it was perfect for the Boys as Z is 7 and F is 11 so they could all take part. They all enjoyed running around shooting for an hour and even I joined in. It was well organised with 4 different games and the boys enjoyed working in teams.

This was the most expensive activity we did during the weekend but it was worth it.

Center Parcs Longleat

Canoe Capers - £19 for an hours tuition

F decided he would like to do canoeing while the other two went in a boat on the lake with Mr J (Grandad).

The canoeing was an hour long and there was one tutor to two pupils. F got to try a single canoe as well as a double canoe and the instructor had them standing up paddle board style, jumping in and lots more.

F really enjoyed that as he loves the water and the instructor was very good and made it fun for them so another great activity. C says next time we go he’ll try out the canoes.

Center Parcs Longleat

Crazy Golf - £5.75 each for 9-holes

You can’t beat a game of crazy golf and there was a 9 or 18-hole outdoor course. We tried the 9-hole course and again the boys had great fun.

Center Parcs Longleat

Ten Pin Bowling - £35 for 45 minutes

The Boys love Ten Pin Bowling and there’s a bowling alley near the sub-tropical swimming pool, so we booked a lane for 45 minutes and had a game before dinner.

Center Parcs Longleat

Sub-Tropical Swimming Paradise - Free

The heart of any Center Parcs is the Subtropical Swimming Pool. I’ll cover more details in a separate blog, but I have to say the boys favourite part were the outdoor rapids. I lost count of how many times they went on them.

Mr J went on with them the first time, but he said once was enough! He said it felt as though you were in a washing machine being buffeted about, but the boys absolutely loved them.

Center Parcs Longleat

This was just a quick overview of 5 of the Boys favourite activities and I will write a couple more blogs with some tips on how to make the most of your stay at Center Parcs Longleat and what I thought about my first trip to Center Parcs.

Just returned from our four day break and enjoyed it,but somebody needs to get to grips regarding the extortionate prices for food and drinks it's shocking Beware if you are thinking of booking.I just paid £5.20 for two halfs of milk, the most expensive meal was in the hucks restaurant ,prices all over were unbelievable again Beware

We have had many great holidays at Center Parcs the standard of accommodation is outstanding and the pool area is great. Only issue we have had is with the Cancellation Insurance We have a break booked for September which we cannot attend due to relocation due to work commitments. When I called Center Parcs they advised that as we were in 10 weeks of the date we couldn't make any changes not even the date and the only refund available was 25% - Cancellation Insurance only covers a small amount of scenarios so don't be fooled into paying the £20!

We visited Center parcs last summer (haven't had time to post this review) and were utterly impressed. We went for back holiday Monday, and stayed in the woodland lodge. The accommodation was clean, tidy and very modern. However, from personal experience even the comfort; the basic lodge is of great value. We took our bikes and were around 10 minutes away from the main plaza area. The swimming pool+Rapids were astonishing and despite the bank holiday weather, the pool outside was around 31 degrees. The slides were great fun, for both adults+kids alike and the lazy river also provided extra enjoyment. The sports centre also offers tennis and there are a few shops. We also visited Longleat animal park on our 2nd day and were utterly impressed. It would be a short drive, but would recommend bringing your car for the monkey enclosure. All in all we had a great 3 night stay and would definitely return again. We are thinking about going to the new one this year too!!

Loved it! Great for small children, they loved the pool, play parks were amazing and the mini trek activity was fab. staff were really friendly and so efficient. Would come again and hopefully soon too!

  • Cleanliness

We love Longleat, the lodges, the forest setting, the wild life etc. Ideal family accommodation for self catering. We find eating out to be terribly expensive. We take all our food as the shop is pricey but saying that, it is very well stocked and everything looks fresh and tempting. We light the fire in the evenings, even in summer and generally relax. We feed the birds and over the years have had a variety visit us, this year we had a lot of Jay's. We've also had deer, a fox, badgers, ducks, squirrels and this weekend a beautiful, but shy, tabby cat. The Plaza Dome is having an upgrade but doesn't interfere with the activities. We were told they are renewing the children's pool next and putting in new water slides etc. We are a family of 3 generations, ages range from nearly 80 to 12yrs. We all get something from our stay and never want to go home. I only have one complaint, my bed was a little bit uncomfortable.

Winter is coming...

Last updated 1 November 2023

The weather is becoming a little more unpredictable and over the past couple of years we have experienced some very cold temperatures. Extreme weather does bring some safety and operational challenges for us. At Center Parcs we assess the weather forecast on a daily basis to plan and ensure our staff and guests are as safe as possible. We listen to official advice but we also consider local weather and conditions for our resort. We’re in a forest setting so extreme weather can be a concern, for example, we look at how saturated the forest is and sometimes we have to change things to reduce any risks.

Below are some hints & tips and advice, along with some changes we may need to put in place if we experience extreme weather: Outdoor activities, our lake & pool areas

It is great to be outside on crisp winter days but in previous years extreme temperatures have made it difficult for our staff and guests to safely enjoy some activities. Again, we will assess the resort conditions and only cancel activities, close our lakes and/or outdoor pool areas if we feel it is unsafe to go ahead.

Forest fires

Please do not start any fires no matter how small, this can be temping with children, but this isn’t safe in our forest environment as small fires can spread very quickly, even in cold weather. If you see a fire in the forest, please let our team know as soon as possible. Keeping everyone safe will always be our priority and we patrol our forests on a regular basis. Please note that, if guests are found to intentionally start a forest fire, they’ll be asked to leave the resort.

Lodge log burners

It is important that guests only burn one log at a time.

Ice & snow

The forest looks magical with snow but such weather can make paths and roads unsafe. Our forests are 400 acres and not all areas will be treated so guests will need to take care when moving around. It is not safe to walk on frozen lakes.

Strong wind & gales

Stick to prepared paths and roads, depending on the severity guests should consider walking rather than cycling.

Arrival day

Extreme weather on an arrival day can cause disruption to our operations. We have a large team who need to travel to work to ensure our lodges are prepared for our guests. On occasion you may find that we delay lodge access time to allow our team more time to prepare.

How will we communicate?

We'll communicate on resort via lodge TV's and signage.

We'll update our website, Facebook and X (Twitter) with any significant impact to our resort.

What if we close a village due to severe weather?

We will only close a resort if it is not safe for our guests and staff. The decision to close will generally be made on the morning of an arrival day. If we do need to close one of our resorts, we will automatically action a full refund of your break and any pre-booked activities.

What if we're open but you can't get to us?

We cannot accept responsibility for your travel/journey to our resort and we won't be able to offer a refund. If you cannot travel to the resort due to local adverse weather, please give us a call on  1890 818200 (Ireland), 03448 267747 (Northern Ireland),  03448 266266  (United Kingdom).

Summer is coming...

Last updated 7 June 2023

Over the past couple of years we have experienced some very high temperatures which is great for exploring the forest.  However, extreme weather does bring some safety and operational challenges. At Center Parcs we assess the weather forecast on a daily basis to plan and ensure our staff and guests are as safe as possible. We listen to official advice but we also consider local weather and conditions.  We’re in a forest setting so heat can be a concern, we look at how dry the forest is and sometimes we have to change things to reduce any risks.

Below are some hints and tips and some of the changes we may need to put in place if things get too warm:

Barbecues   - as mentioned above, we will listen to local advice and assess individual conditions.  If we do experience long dry periods we may need to introduce a barbecue ban.  If we do this, we’ll text any guests impacted before they arrive so that they can plan around this.

Fans  – our lodges are not air conditioned so if you have a fan at home it might be a good idea to bring it along.

Outdoor activities & outdoor pool areas  – it is great to be outside in the sunshine but in previous years it has been too hot for our staff and guests to safely enjoy some activities.  Again, we will assess  conditions and only cancel activities if we feel it is unsafe to go ahead.

Restaurants  – as you can imagine, kitchens areas can get very hot in excessive heat and in extreme situations we may need to change opening times or reduce our menus.

Hydration  – it may seem obvious but staying hydrated is essential during the heat. Remember drinks for the journey and all of our lodges have fridges to keep things cool.  You’ll also have a small freezer for ice cream and ice!

Sun protection  – another obvious one but it is important to protect yourself and your family in the sun so don’t forget to bring lots of sunscreen. We do sell a small selection in ParcMarket if you do forget.

Closing curtains/ moderating lodge temperature  – we recommend keeping curtains closed during the day, particularly bedroom curtains, as it can significantly help in moderating the temperature within your lodge amidst warm weather conditions.

We’ll keep you as updated on any changes as we can.

Treehouse in the forest

Treehouses are coming to Longford

Last updated 15 June 2021

We’ve announced our intention to submit a planning application to further develop Center Parcs Longford Forest

Building on the success of the resort since opening in July 2019, we’re now planning to increase the number of lodges and expand some of the existing facilities.

The plans include the addition of 200 new lodges, including four of our most luxurious accommodation type - Treehouses. Hidden away within the heart of the forest, each Treehouse sleeps up to eight people and comes complete with a games den, outdoor hot tub, private parking and a dedicated Treehouse Host for the duration of the break.

Alongside the plans to increase the number of lodges, we’re also proposing to extend existing facilities, including leisure facilities, restaurants and cafés, back of house facilities, the Subtropical Swimming Paradise and Aqua Sana Spa.

The development will remain within the existing site boundary and is estimated to create around 300 jobs during construction and a further 250 permanent jobs once operational.

We will now begin detailed design and site survey work, as well as a programme of community engagement, before submitting a planning application, with a target date of the end of 2021 for the submission.

Today it is one of the UK’s most iconic and popular family attractions, annually attracting around a million visitors with its unique mix of magical wildlife encounters, rich history, astonishing family experiences and year-round programme of immersive events and festivals. BEHIND THE SCENES AT LONGLEAT.

MINI Countryman Longleat

Our Big Love mission is about more than just caring for one another – it’s about looking after the world we live in, too. Which is why we’ve partnered with Longleat to help inspire the next generation of young conservationists. From woodlands to wildlife, it’s fair to say the experts there know a thing or two about conservation.

Join us as we adventure together with the lovely Longleat team – including Jim and Mark, Head of Forestry and Biosecurity respectively. They’ve taken us behind the scenes to show what goes into making a world of wildlife conservation, and just how important it is for the future of the park and planet. Check out the film below…

MEET MORE OF THE TEAM. LEADERS IN THEIR FIELDS.

We couldn’t resist introducing you to a few more friendly faces from the Longleat team below. From feeding time to bedtime, these inspirational conservationists work round the clock to make sure the wildlife is expertly cared for.

Longleat James

JAMES, KOALA KEEPER.

After saying g’day to the super-cute residents of Koala Creek, James stocks up his MINI Countryman Plug-in Hybrid with plenty of freshly harvested eucalyptus, before whizzing it back down to the hungry koalas. Talk about five-star service.

Longleat Tina

TINA, LEAD KEEPER.

From giraffes to zebras, Tina looks after all the incredible East African species. “I just want to make sure they’re the happiest and healthiest they can be”, she told us. And it’s this Big Love for wildlife that makes Longleat the ultimate place to learn about conservation.

Longleat Matt

MATT, LEAD KEEPER.

When he’s not preparing a gourmet fish dish for the Sea Lions, you’ll find Matt busy taking care of the (in his words) high-maintenance gorillas – who knew they were such divas?! Good job he’s got his MINI Countryman Plug-in Hybrid to get around the park in speedy, sustainable style.

Longleat Amy

AMY, TEAM MANAGER.

According to animal-mad Amy, “It’s so important to inspire the next generation to look after the animals we have.” And we couldn't agree more. Through our Big Love initiative, we want to spread this passion to all the budding conservationists out there.

TAKING BIG LOVE TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

Our Big Love goal continues. Alongside partnering with Longleat and kitting them out with a fleet of sustainable MINI Countryman Plug-in Hybrids (check out this MINI model below), we’ve got plenty more planned to make things brighter for people and planet. Find out more at our Big Love Hub.
