Former emo kids are called to gather once again at the 2024 edition of When We Were Young , taking place on the Las Vegas Festival Grounds on Oct. 19. The third iteration of the music fest will feature over 50 full-album live performances. The headliners are Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance , who will perform “The Black Parade” in its entirety.

The festival’s 2023 lineup featured Green Day and Blink-182 as headliners, marking a slight shift from emo to pop-punk, with My Chemical Romance and Paramore headlining in 2022. Pierce the Veil and Simple Plan also performed in 2023, along with 30 Seconds to Mars, the Offspring, Good Charlotte, 5 Seconds of Summer, All Time Low, Rise Against, Yellowcard, Sum 41 and New Found Glory.

The ultimate emo festival, When We Were Young, will return for its third year in 2024 with a slight change to its format: each set will feature the top-to-bottom performance of a defining album from each act. My Chemical Romance — who helmed the event’s first year in 2022 — will headline once again, this time performing Welcome to the Black Parade in full. Fall Out Boy will also headline, but no specific album has been attached to their set yet.

Scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, When We Were Young 2024 will feature appearances from more than 50 bands. The weekend will showcase A Day To Remember’s Homesick , Jimmy Eat World ’s Bleed American , Pierce The Veil ’s Collide With The Sky, Mayday Parade’s A Lesson in Romantics, the Maine’s Can’t Stop Won’t Stop, Dashboard Confessional’s Dusk and Summer, The Used’s In Love and Death, Simple Plan’s No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls , 30H!3’s Want , and more.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy will headline the return of the When We Were Young music festival next fall.

Organizers unveiled the massive lineup featuring more than 50 bands for the festival, which is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds.

Other artists announced include Jimmy Eat World, Pierce the Veil, Dashboard Confessional, the All-American Rejects, Cobra Starship, Chiodos, A Day to Remember, The Used, and Simple Plan.

Fans can sign up for the festival SMS list at WhenWeWereYoungFestival.com to get an access code for the presale, which begins on Friday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m.

Any remaining tickets following the presale will go on sale to the general public starting at 2 p.m. that same day.

When We Were Young 2024 Add Second Date With Lineup Full of Album Performances

UPDATE: Nov. 17, 2023: Organizers have now announced a second date for 2024, with the lineup returning to the stage on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024 as well. Tickets will go on sale  Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 10AM PT.

When the When We Were Young festival returns for its 2024 edition, it looks like fans will be treated to something beyond the traditional performances. Earlier today, promoter Live Nation just dropped a tease (that has since been deleted) that suggested that many of the 2024 performers will be playing full-album sets revisiting some of their classic records. With the lineup now announced, it is in fact a bill of bands mostly playing full-album performances.

The 2024 event returns to the Las Vegas Festival grounds on Oct. 19, 2024 with an outstanding lineup that includes My Chemical Romance , Fall Out Boy , A Day to Remember , Jimmy Eat World , Dashboard Confessional , Pierce the Veil , The Used , Simple Plan , The All-American Rejects and many more.

And as stated, many of those acts will be playing full album sets, led by My Chemical Romance revisiting The Black Parade . You'll also get A Day To Remember playing Homesick , Dashboard Confessional doing Dusk and Summer , Jimmy Eat World playing Bleed American , Pierce the Veil doing Collide with the Sky , Simple Plan performing No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls , The Used doing In Love and Death , The All-American Rejects playing their self-titled set, Coheed and Cambrian taking on Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV , Underoath doing They're Only Chasing Safety , New Found Glory playing Sticks and Stones and many more.

My Chemical Romance's Mikey Way Joins Fall Out Boy Onstage During California Show

Fall Out Boy is well underway in their So Much For (Tour) Dust trek. On Saturday (July 1), the band played at the North Island Credit Union Ampitheatre in Chula Vista, California, during which they brought out an old friend from another big rock band: My Chemical Romance’s Mikey Way.

As reported by Kerrang , the bassist came onstage for a customary set-closer Saturday, while Fall Out Boy's own bassist Pete Wentz swapped his instrument for a microphone. He hopped onto the barrier to be with fans for the Take This To Your Grave tune "Saturday" - an amalgam of confetti surrounding him.

Fall Out Boy released their latest album So Much (For) Stardust back in March. They’ll be returning to the UK later this year for a headline tour, with support from PVRIS and nothing,nowhere.

As for My Chemical Romance, the emo group completed their Reunion Tour which ended in March. They released the single "The Foundations of Decay" last year.

For most of these bands, these albums haven’t been played in their entirety since their release back in the early 2000s. It’s for the millennials who once believed their favorite songs would never see the stage again. And for two nights only, all generations alike can gather and celebrate good ol’ punk-pop/rock in the heart of Las Vegas.

My Chemical Romance add more dates to rescheduled 2022 tour

My Chemical Romance have announced three more live shows for their huge 2022 comeback run next year.

My Chemical Romance have announced three more live shows – in Russia and Ukraine – for 2022.

The New Jersey gang have added a trio of gigs in June to their huge comeback run next year, now also performing at St. Petersburg's Ice Palace, Moscow's Park Live Festival, and Kiev's U Park Live on top of their already-announced dates.

Earlier this week , Gerard Way admitted that My Chem's incredible 2019 comeback gig at The Shrine in Los Angeles was the "most fun” he’s ever had onstage with the band.

"Something that I tried to do, and this was conscious, was relinquish some control," the frontman explained. "I think about control a lot, and in the years since the band broke up I’ve really examined control in all of its forms. My goal at The Shrine was not to direct the audience to do anything. To let them do what they naturally wanted to do. It became less of working a crowd, as they say, or being an entertainer.

"If I moved my hand, it was because I wanted to do it. I wasn’t trying to get the audience to wave their hands and stuff. I was just performing. To me, the new version of My Chemical Romance and the way I want to go about it is exercising less control.”

Announcing their rescheduled tour last month , My Chem said in a statement: "My Chemical Romance is postponing our 2021 touring plans until 2022. We are deeply sad, but those emotions are only a fraction of the depth of feeling we have all experienced watching the suffering and loss of the past year. We just want to be as sure as we can be that everyone is safe.

"Refunds will be offered to anyone who wants them. We are sorry if this is disappointing, and we really can’t wait to see you in 2022. All tickets will be honored for the new dates. If you are unable to attend, refunds are available at your point of purchase. Refunds are available for a limited time, details on refund windows and rescheduled tour dates can be found here .
