Competitive prices. However, I struggled a little at the airport at check-in. I showed them your email of booking confirmation, & logged into the website for my booking, it still took them a while, with a lot of confusion from check in staff. Not pleasant for an intl traveller.

I have cancel my booking in less than 30mins…

I have cancelled my booking in less than 30min after I had realized I have make a mistake on the dates. This was even before I actually had an eTicket. MyTrip.com never state a cancellation fee anywhere I can easily read till I reached out to their agent. $45 cancelling fee is not cheap. I advice everyone looks elsewhere for better services.

Cheapest supplier with luggage charges factored in

I use Skyscanner to book flights and as you may know, once you select your flight you have a choice of agents to book through. When you need to add a checked in bag the face-price of the flight alters dramatically. I checked 6 different suppliers and MyTrip was the one who added least for a checked in bag and gave me the best final price, by a not-insignificant margin. This was for a Vueling flight to Barcelona in May. Only irritation in the booking process was the long list of extras you had to say no to, but the final price with checked in bag was visible early on and didn't change.

Unreimbursed from canceled flight.

We have been waiting for a refund for plane tickets purchased and canceled through mytrip.com for 6 months now. Since November 2023, I have been chatting with them almost every week and every time they promised that they would return over 2,500 euros very soon, but it turns out that they were clearly just trying to delay. The paradox is that we are their regular customer, we have bought tickets from them more than once, and we get this kind of treatment. We are totally disappointed and have contacted a law firm dealing with such cases.

I booked internal flights in Thailand

I booked internal flights in Thailand. The day before I was due to travel I got covid. I contacted the airline and they told me to reach out to the airline Viet Jet. I tried this but got no help from the bot and there was no way to get to contact anyone. I therefore went back to metric who just totally stonewalled me. I could have made a claim on my insurance for the lost funds on my flight but they never sent me a no show final invoice. I therefore lost all of my money because of My trip. I have travelled with them before but never again.

The most appalling experience ever. I called customer service 10’times in a week trying to resolve an issue which they refused to help with. I sent several emails which they did not respond to. I ended up having to cancel my flight and lost £500 because they refused to correct a typing error in my name. They are complete charlatans and their customer service team are a bunch of untrained robots. NEVER use this company. Total scammers

Do not use MyTrip

Go straight to the airline. Do no book through this company. I paid for flights and check in. They never confirmed to the airlines I had paid check in and so I had to pay very high fees again. Getting a refund has been a joke, the lack of communication with the organisation and inability to talk to anyone just amps up the frustration of trying to get anything archived. They are not professional. It's hit and miss whether they do book your flights correctly and god help you when they don't 'cause they certainly won't help when they get it wrong.

I recently used 2 x third party ticket purchasing platforms. I found MyTrip excellent and the entire process ran smoothly. I have had issues in the past with booking platforms. I no longer use booking.com as they offer poor customer service. Even though I never required customer service via Mytrip I found the entire experience excellent and actually as easy ads these things should be!

I cannot believe the sheer incompetence…

I cannot believe the sheer incompetence and disregard for customers shown by MyTrip.com! My order number is LMC5SD, and I've been chasing a simple baggage refund for over a year now. Despite receiving a confirmation letter in October 2023 stating that the refund was initiated, I haven't seen a single penny! Every time I reach out via email or phone, it's the same robotic response: "Your refund has been initiated, please wait." Wait for what? Another year? It's beyond frustrating and utterly infuriating! To add insult to injury, I had to pay for my baggage not once, but twice! And yet, here I am, empty-handed and fed up with their lack of professionalism and blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. It's abundantly clear that MyTrip.com lacks a dedicated customer service team capable of resolving issues promptly and efficiently. If you value your time, money, and sanity, steer clear of MyTrip.com at all costs! This has been the most horrible and terrifying experience dealing with a travel agency, and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. Save yourself the stress and don't book…

Save yourself the stress and don't book though this company their customer service representatives are the worst, they won't try to help you. A tip: go directly to the airline if something happens and they don't want to help. That's want happened to me. They changed a flight I couldn't catch because of stop over, I called, email, chatted, tried them to help me out and it was impossible. I called the airline and they solved the issue for me within a couple of days. I will never ever deal with this airline again, what an stressful moment and no amount of apologies will mend the frustration this situation generated me.

This company is a complete scam

This company is a complete scam! I booked two tickets from Hong Kong to Barcelona in business class and nowhere the website has stated that the return ticket is a promotional fare ( usually for last minute gate upgrade)! I paid the full fare without knowing that I don’t get lounge access and other business class services. And when tried to contact the hotline of my trip, they just shoved me off saying I should directly contact the airline. Complete rip off and fraud and will never use it again!

The best price available came from MyTrip, well done. It is initiative and easy going process of booking.

I Dont recommend my mytrip.com I have been contact with them if i can change my flights dates ,they said yes ,they done calculation for around 230 pounds for new dates and i have paid this by link ,i received invoice + email with confirme change my reservation . After 3 hours they rang me i need pay more 300 pounds to do that to keep my flight changed .I said they making joke because i paid already and not going to pay over 500 pounds for rebooking flight so now they canceled my rebooking . Its so no unproffesional to charge people one time ,give all details and after hours again try contact to you you pay again even more .

Scam agancy that takes your money and doesn't respect its own policies

Horrible company. Flight was canceled, and they didn't know untill 1 hour before the flight. After that, till this day they haven't responded to any emails since December 2023!! Not offering us a refund, or a voucher for another flight. Nobody is responding so I implore you to NEVER book through this scam company

Absolutely dreadful experience with MyTrip. Booked my flights from Tel Aviv to NYC with them, only to find out last minute that they've canceled both my outbound and return tickets without any notification whatsoever. Fuad app and worst customer service. They scam and make mistakes and after that they don't make any changes infact if you cancel your ticket which you have to even though they receive full money from airline but they will not refund you full money. Absolute trash... rebooked tickets of cancelled flight on the summer. The tarif was lower that the original one, so to match The price paid we agreed on the phone to an upgrade, which allowed us to have a suitcase per person... nothing else. I paid a fee and this morning they called me to say it was a mistake, So no suitcase and refund possible. If i take a higher rate i had to pay extra but if lower they keep the money. Real thieves! Firstly, as I proceeded to select the ticket and make the payment on the website, the fare changed three times spontaneously. I booked flights to Brazil with one stop over, then airline add one more additional stop over with I Refused to accept, Mytrip offered me refund, and I received email do not replay saying ,, This is a no-reply email confirming your request has been received and added to our queue.” there is no any more email from them since 12 March. Date of Interaction: Sunday, April 7, 2024 Time of Interaction: Between 18:30 and 20:15 Booking Reference: MPYX9G Feedback: I am utterly appalled and infuriated by the abysmal customer service I received. Calling them for a simple cancellation inquiry turned into a nightmarish ordeal. After wasting more than an hour of my life, the so-called "service" agent couldn't even tell me the refund amount for a flexible ticket cancellation. The incompetence didn't stop there; the agent's attempt at rebooking was a joke, and their absurd policy of only three rebooking attempts per call is a slap in the face to any customer. To add insult to injury, it became glaringly obvious that the agent was feigning connectivity issues, hoping I'd just give up and hang up. What kind of pathetic, underhanded tactic is that? This isn't just poor service; it's a complete and utter disregard for customers' time and needs. I'm warning everyone out there: DO NOT use this service. I've already spread the word to all my friends and family to steer clear of this disgraceful company. And no, this isn't some bot-generated rant. I booked months ago a flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa for April the 12th of 2024. The departure was initially at 8:00 and I received an email last Friday to say that the flight had a « minor » rescheduled at 4:00 ie 4 hours earlier ! I booked through them flight ticket with 20kg luggage and when I came to the check in area in the airport they said to me that even though they see in the payment receipt that I paid for 20kg luggage they can't approve it and demanded from me to pay extra 75$. Customer service didn’t do nothing. Hope this scam agency will bankrupt

Scam company

Terrible company. I booked a flight home from Indonesia to uk leaving in a few hours and as soon as I paid I got a email to say the flight has been cancelled. I managed to speak to them but they said I needed to pay for another flight and would be refunded the first one that cost £640. The second flight then cost me £869. I was furious. They said I would get a refund in 6 days, however 3 months later they are still saying they are waiting for Malaysian Airlines to refund the money which is rubbish as the airline said they refunded the money on February 15th. Bad customer service experience

The company was extremely unhelpful I bought tickets for all my family and had to change the date, I paid the fee that came along with changing dates and a few days before departure they cancelled and told me the aircraft was full, offered me a refund that still hasn't arrived in 2 years. Stay away. I booked flight from Google flights. I somehow ended up with Mytrip. I booked a trip 1-2.04.2024 from Larnace to Telaviv and vice-versa. The return flight got cancelled on the 28.03.2024. Up until the 31.03.2024, when I checked-in for the departure flight, there was not mention or indication of cancellation of the flight on their website. The email notifying of the cancellation, went straight into junk mail. Obviously, had there been a notification on their website I would have probably cancelled the entire trip and seek a refund, especially if there were no return flights, or only expensive ones. These shady b*stards, do not take reasonable steps to warn their clients of cancellations through their website, to get their sorry commission at least on one of the two flights. Unethical business.

You will pay double with their tricks

Thieves - do not fall for their so called lower prices. They will hike up the price right as you’re about to pay - and then when you check from another device the price remains exactly as it was before so it’s just a scam to stress you out and push you to buy. We ended up double booking the exact same flight - the refunded us but charged administrative fees that was near price of actual tickets : NO ownership that actual problem came from their website. Absolutely no reason for the difference in prices on two different devices other then that they are playing games to trick people into paying extra. NEVER AGAIN!

I've been using this site to purchase my flight tickets for the past year. Initially, everything seemed fine, but unfortunately, my experience took a nosedive during my second trip. I bought a return ticket to Addis Ababa, and while returning to Dublin, I received an email notifying me of the cancellation of my flight. The email suggested I request a refund, which I promptly did. However, it's been three months, and I'm still waiting for the refund, not to mention the additional expenses incurred for purchasing another ticket. This whole ordeal has left me feeling scammed and extremely disappointed.

REAL THIEVES, a thief company I booked a flight for the beginning of May 2023. The day was changed and I can’t take a flight this day. In this case, MYTRIP let you choose between accept the changement or be refundable. I chose the refund. ELEVEN MONTHS LATER, I still wait my refund. MYTRIP refuse to do it. After so much calls and so much conversations with the chat, they always find some reasons to tell me they can’t do my refund. After giving me no reply to either my e-mails or my calls, they decided to close my file because "they had no news", which is logical since they don't do what's necessary ! They are real thieves !!!!! This organisation must be closed and condemned given the number of thefts they perform !

Shoddy service

I wanted to change the date of my return trip and the person I spoke to said that the only ticket available for the date I wanted was a business class ticket so I agreed to pay for the change based on the information she gave me. However, when it came time for the flight, it turned out It was an economy class ticket. I would not have agreed to such a price hike without an upgrade, and even though the company admits that the agent gave me the wrong information, eventually (after several phone calls and emails )they refused to reimburse me.

COMPLETE SCAM AND RIP OFF STAY AWAY I BOOKED A FLIGHT ON 4/4/24 from LGW to Jeddah connecting via Austria Itenarry as follows : London Gatwick to Vienna Thursday, 04 April 2024 Departure: 19:25 Arrival: 22:40 Vienna to Jeddah Friday, 05 April 2024 Departure: 11:30 Arrival: 17:35 Upon arriving in Vienna, I stayed in a hotel at my own expense as recommended by the travel agent to book a stay due to the length of time to the flight departing to Jeddah. Next morning, upon attempting to check i, I was informed that the flight had departed the day before at 11:30. Wizz Air, the flight provider, directed me to contact the third party whom I had booked the flight with namely MyTrip). Upon contacting Mytrip customer service, I received conflicting information regarding the booking. Initially, the agent claimed that an email was sent on the 24th of February informing me of a change in the flight schedule to the day before. However, this explanation does not align with the facts, as it is not logical for me to depart on a flight that had already left. Furthermore, the email referred to, dated 24th February, which I received from MyTrip, stated 'New Itinerary' with the same schedule as originally booked. As a result of this confusion, I incurred additional expenses, including the cost of accommodation in Vienna and the purchase of a new flight and a delay and fault with my travel plans. Wizz air confirmed they informed mytrip well in advance of these changes which were not bought to my attention. The travel agent was confident that I will get no compensation and offered me £50 for the connecting flight which was be never there to begin with. Do not book from these scammers as you will be left with frustration angered and left with little to no help

Mytrip claims to be an IATA accredited online travel agency.

They advertise an English helpline number +44 8447747881 but it now appears to us that this is only a front for a Greek company,

Two weeks later the airline changed the first flight making it impossible to make the connection to the second.

When we were notified we immediately requested that Mytrip.com change the flights to a practicable connection.

Despite repeated emails and expensive overseas calls to the Mytrip.com ‘help line’ Iberian Airways tells us that Mytrip.com has not made any request to change the flights .

Iberia Air says that they can not change the flights because Mytrip.com has not requested the change from them.

Iberia Air says that we cannot miss the first flight which now does not exist and just get to Madrid some other way in order to get on the second flight . In other words there is no way we can use the tickets we have paid for.

Mytrip.com does not respond to any of our emails.

And furthermore, apparently an UK 844 number, which their helpline is, is a premium number which returns payment from the cost of the call to the company. (just one phone call cost us 50 euros on hold)

We are now having to find alternative means of transport, of course at greater cost due to the last minute booking.

So much for me thinking IATA accreditation signified anything. If anyone knows of any way we can seek help or contact this company the information would be greatly appreciated.?

Never again will I book via MyTrip. My teenage daughters itinerary got changed by Mytrip without any reason a few days prior to travel. New itinerary was for a much earlier (and much cheaper) first leg from Koh Samui to Bangkok, where the new itinerary suggested for our underaged child to spend 8 hours at the airport (instead of the planned 3hours). I was not able to phone or chat with anyone from MyTrip for several days. Their system is designed not to have to deal with customers. Unless you like non-existing customer service and being rebooked towards spending a whole day at the airport between flights: DO NOT BOOK WITH MYTRIP!

Bank fraude and flight cancelation with no refund

Got a flight and pay 560€. They charge me that in my bank account. After some minutes they return the money and then charge me 688€! When I call they told me the prices change. I told I wouldn’t accept that. After 1 week I call again and they told me they cancel the trip in my orders and they are going to charge penalties. In my reservations I still have the reservations….. So I don’t have flight and no money. Don’t book nothing with them.

If there is an option for 0 ratings i will provide a 0 rating my booking number is MQHFUT From Dublin to Kochi after booking some days I got one email from my tripsupport .Your one flight canceled Then they suggested me a another flight and another time then I agreed with that flights because i have no way and also wait more days to get a new ticket but at last they informed me no flights were available the only one available on Flight AF272 Date 7 Apr 2025 from Paris to Tokyo. Warning: Avoid MYTRIP/GOGATE for Flight Ticket Purchases!

I purchased flight tickets from this website, opting for a refundable ticket by paying an additional fee. However, when my plans changed and I needed to cancel and obtain a refund, I encountered immense difficulty. Despite numerous phone calls and live chat conversations, I have been met with unreasonable responses and a lack of progress. It has now been nearly 9 months since I initiated the refund process, yet the status remains stuck at "processing the refund." The lack of clarity on when I can expect my refund is frustrating and unacceptable. I strongly advise avoiding GOGATE or MYTRIP (their associated website) at all costs!

Hope dies last

I have booked and payed a trip to Zanzibar. A family of 4. Good price, good connections. Very happy. First. Then, my flight was cancelled. After I called, MyTrip promised to rebook it. Days go, nothing happens. I call again, I am promised again. Now, my trip is a week away. We are really hoping Mytrip will fix it.

If they mess up you will have to fight for refund, probably won’t get it

I bought a flight with two layovers. The 2nd flight got moved by 24h meaning that I would have missed the 3rd flight and I had to be in my destination on time. I had to purchase new tickets to continue, spent 500$ and still after 5 months I haven’t received a refund from MyTrip. Definitely would not recommend!!

One problem after another.

Website failures initially. When it finally decided to 'work' it massively increased the price from the listed amount. Customer service not helpful. Mytrip then cancelled my booking for 'technical' reasons rather than fix the problem.

they changed my flight and gave me just one option, they added an overnight stay. they didn't go any further to try and help me out. I lost one night in Tokyo and on top of that had to pay for an overnight in China. they didn't care at all, they didn't help me. They charged me 2 times

When I was in the last stage of booking a trip, the site increased the price from the listed amount. I accepted the new price and after 1 min waiting time for the confirmation of the payment, I received a message “The payment cannot be completed”. I retried to book another trip, which was completed. At the end, they had charged me 2 times, so the message “The payment cannot be completed” was deceiving!! I called the Customer service and they said that they will not refund me the full amount of the one ticket. Such a scam. Avoid MyTrip!!

I booked flight ticket in advance and because of nature of my job I payed 40 euros for flexible ticket. I tried to change my flight 4-5 times by calling them and a couple of times messaging them. People who I was talk with would send me available flight but not dates what I wanted so i called again and again. Finally they offer me voucher by an e mail which I wanted to take but again it wasn't available. I haven't change my flight and I lost around 320 euros. I ll never book flight with this company again!!!

Refused to help, so they profited from cancellations

They refused to change my childs surname on my ticket, despite the airline saying it would be acceptable. I then had to request 8 times for a refund when they made it impossible to fly. Each time they replied saying "Please confirm you want a refund". The tickets were cheap but I believe they intentionally make it difficult to fly so they can profit from cancellations.

I’ll never forget walking out of Universal Islands of Adventure in 2022, drenched from head to toe after riding Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barge . 

It was my first trip back to Universal Orlando Resort in years, and I learned some things the hard way, which I gladly shared with fellow travelers, hoping that they’d avoid my mistakes .

Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to visit the Florida resort several times a year. And while I stand by my earlier tips, I’ve learned a few others.

Here are my top tips for first-timers visiting Universal Orlando.

1.  Stay on property

From RV parks to vacation rentals, there’s no shortage of places to stay in Central Florida, but it can pay to stay on property when visiting Universal Orlando. Not only are prices comparable to off-property hotels with Endless Summer Surfside and Dockside starting at $99 a night, but all of Universal’s resort hotels offer 30 minutes of early entry to select parks, which vary depending on time of year. 

They also provide free resort transportation, so you can get back to your room fairly quickly after a long park day or for a midday break. That free transportation can be clutch in the mornings, particularly at pricier Loews Sapphire Falls , Loews Royal Pacific , Loews Portofino Bay , and Hard Rock Hotel , which offer water taxis that drop you off closer to the parks than you can get arriving by car or bus. Cabana Bay Beach Resort and Aventura Hotel guests can walk over to Sapphire Falls for water taxis, but the extra time and steps added may make it not worth skipping the resort shuttle bus.

Walking paths are also available to the parks from every resort hotel except the Endless Summer ones. Cabana Bay guests also have a dedicated walking path to Universal’s Volcano Bay water park.

Guests staying at Royal Pacific, Portofino Bay and Hard Rock also get free Universal Express Passes , which dramatically cut waits for most rides and normally start at $79.99 per person. Free package delivery is also available to all resort hotels, if guests don’t want to lug park purchases around all day.

2. Buy a popcorn bucket

Snacking at the parks can get expensive. Guests are welcome to bring their own snacks, but there’s one crowd-pleaser that won’t break the bank. 

A plain popcorn bucket costs a little over $12, and you can keep getting refills throughout your trip. Refills cost around $2 each, making popcorn among the cheapest, most shareable snacks on property. On our last trip, my family and I got multiple refills for the price of one pretzel with cheese dip.

3.  Bring a light, refillable water bottle

Staying hydrated is always important, particularly on hot park days. 

You can fill water bottles with free ice-cold water at any of the many Coca-Cola Freestyle machines across the property. Cups of ice water are also available for free anywhere dispensed soft drinks are sold.

Leave big double-walled stainless steel tumblers at home. Not only will they feel heavy, carrying them around all the day, but if they aren’t leak-proof, they’ll make a mess when you tip them on their sides to fit in lockers for thrill rides.

4. Bring a medium-sized bag to carry your stuff

Numerous attractions, from Jurassic World VelociCoaster to Men in Black Alien Attack , require guests to store loose articles in lockers provided for the duration of the ride. 

I previously recommended keeping most of your things together to avoid having to empty every pocket each time. That’s still true, but I want to add a caveat on size. 

The free lockers aren’t very big. They can fit a Loungefly-style mini backpack or empty popcorn bucket, if you squish them down, but they’re not large enough for packed full-size backpacks. Keep that in mind unless you want to pay for larger lockers.

5. Bring ponchos

Ponchos don’t take a lot of space and can save you from getting soaked like me on Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barge, Dudley Do-Right’s Rip Saw Falls , and Jurassic Park River Adventure .

Even if you skip water rides, ponchos are good to keep on hand for rainy park days.

6. Use single-rider lines 

Many attractions have a single-rider lane. If you’re traveling alone or don’t mind your party being split up, you can save time using the single-rider lane, if it’s open. They’re not always offered.

It doesn’t guarantee a short wait, but it’s usually shorter. On our latest trip, my middle schooler still waited at least 45 minutes for The Incredible Hulk Coaster and an hour for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit . That was about as long as the regular standby wait for Hulk but shorter than the standby wait for Rip Ride Rockit.

The following attractions have single-rider lanes, though availability varies.

7. Use child swap 

If someone in your party doesn’t meet ride requirements for an attraction or simply wants to sit it out, you can ask for a child swap. It’s particularly helpful for families with young children because it allows parents and caregivers to take turns riding the ride and staying with whoever is sitting it out.

On our most recent trip, my youngest didn’t want to ride Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure , so we all waited in line together, but then she and I peeled off to a designated waiting room while my middle schooler and mother-in-law went on the ride. When they were done, my mother-in-law stayed with my youngest while I went on the ride. My middle schooler lucked out, getting to ride it twice.

Not all attractions have waiting rooms, but they all offer swaps. Just let team members know you need one.

8. Take breaks

Theme parks can be exhausting. Not only are you on your feet all day, but they can be loud, crowded and overstimulating. 

When possible, I like to plan for at least one sit-down meal in the day. This way, I can take my time and recuperate in air conditioning away from crowds. I’ll typically splurge on one table-service meal, but there are several medium-priced, quick-service restaurants across both theme parks where you can grab a lighter snack and relax.

Really, any cool spot where you can sit down works. Knockturn Alley in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida is always refreshing, though dark. Jurassic Park Discovery Center in Islands of Adventure is a great place for kids to explore while adults unwind. 

9.  Watch the shows

Rides get a lot of the love, but Universal Orlando’s live entertainment is top tier. You can find showtimes on the free resort app or simply stop to watch performances you stumble across while roaming the parks.

The only year-round shows with dedicated seating are at Universal Studios Florida: Animal Actors On Location! , The Bourne Stuntacular , and Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show, which is more funny than scary.

10. Let little ones stretch their legs

There are several play areas across both theme parks for little ones to burn off energy.

This summer, a new DreamWorks Land will open at Universal Studios Florida with a “Kung Fu Panda”-themed play area.

At Islands of Adventure, kids can explore Camp Jurassic in Jurassic Park, If I Ran a Zoo in Seuss Landing, and Me Ship, The Olive in Toon Lagoon. There are also splash pads and water features across Toon Lagoon; just make sure to either bring swimsuits or backup clothes for those.

Bonus: Don’t sleep on Volcano Bay

You’ll definitely want to pack swimsuits if you’re heading to Volcano Bay, which regularly ranks among the best water parks in the country and adds a completely different experience to vacations.

It’s themed like a tropical paradise, with plenty of trees and an iconic volcano that houses multiple water slides. The water park can get crowded, but you never spend too much time standing in line because every guest gets a Tapu Tapu wearable bracelet that lets them join one virtual queue at a time. 

Single-day tickets start at $80, which is considerably less than the $119 starting price for guests age 10 and up at Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure, but still not cheap. However, if you’re already planning to buy multi-day tickets for both theme parks, tacking on Volcano Bay is not much more.

The Hunt for a Retirement Keepsake

On a family trip to Switzerland, Joseph Barreto fell in love with an Omega Constellation.

In 2022, several months after Joseph Barreto retired as a high school guidance counselor in East Harlem, he got a keepsake gift: a 42-millimeter stainless steel Omega Constellation watch with a grayish-taupe dial and prominent date display.

But getting the timepiece wasn’t as straightforward as, say, walking into Omega’s Fifth Avenue boutique. Instead, the Hackensack, N.J., resident traveled to Switzerland to buy it.

“Buying a watch in Europe is just a whole other experience,” said Mr. Barreto, 57. “They sit you down; there’s Champagne, there’s chocolate. It’s just an event.”

Many of the former students Mr. Barreto worked with over his 34-year career had given him money on his retirement, saying he should spend it on things to help commemorate the occasion. (“They’re family to me,” he said.)

His first purchase was a custom-made 14-karat gold pendant with diamonds and sapphires that he wears every day in memory of his father, who died in December 2019. “I had money, believe it or not, left over to buy the airline ticket for the trip,” Mr. Barreto said, “and still some left over to buy a watch.”

Mr. Barreto, who grew up in a blue-collar household, said his interest in watches was a personal thing. As he put it, “I’m a Puerto Rican from the Bronx — that’s not a Bronx thing, to get a watch that’s high-end.”

“When we were kids, if you had a Timex, that was a ‘good watch’ — that’s what they called it,” he said.

Over the years, he bought watches by Bulova, Movado, Swatch, Victorinox and others. Then, during his first trip to Europe, a journey he made in 2017 to visit a cousin, Noel Matos, Mr. Barreto bought a 42-millimeter quartz Rado Centrix watch in black and gold.

“He got here and fell in love with Europe,” said Mr. Matos, a food industry executive in Basel, Switzerland. “That trip really changed his life. He started eating differently; he started looking at the world differently.”

And during the pandemic, Mr. Barreto began using online resources to learn more about watches, primarily by watching YouTube videos from the likes of the watch retailers Teddy Baldassarre and Federico Iossa.

When Mr. Barreto retired — a few dozen pounds lighter than in recent years, thanks in part to a Swiss-inspired diet — he started planning another trip to Europe, but this time with his wife, Teresa, and their son, Joseph.

“He really felt like he had to share his first-time experiences with two other people who had never been to Europe,” Mr. Matos said. “It was really to kind of open that Pandora’s box to his wife and son.”

When the Barretos arrived in Europe, they embarked on a road trip, covering six countries in 14 days in a rented Mercedes-Benz E-Class station wagon.

Mr. Barreto had a list of contenders for his retirement watch including models by Rolex, Tissot, Rado, Oris and Omega, a brand he had long admired.

And one morning’s itinerary was planned to include a stop at Omega’s boutique in Interlaken, Switzerland, as Mr. Matos knew someone working there. Mr. Barreto, a James Bond fan, said he walked in leaning heavily toward getting a Seamaster. But when he tried on the watch he ultimately purchased, “There was something about the face of this Constellation watch: the texture, the color,” he said. “When I saw it, that was it completely.”

Mr. Barreto, who has been keeping himself busy in retirement as the chairman of Somos New Jersey, a nonpartisan political action committee that focuses on Latino voters and representation, said he now had a total of about two dozen watches.

As for the Omega his cousin purchased, Mr. Matos said: “It makes his wrist complete. Not only does it look good, it works with everything he wears. It works with how he carries himself.”

COMPLETE SCAM AND RIP OFF STAY AWAY I BOOKED A FLIGHT ON 4/4/24 from LGW to Jeddah connecting via Austria Itenarry as follows : London Gatwick to Vienna Thursday, 04 April 2024 Departure: 19:25 Arrival: 22:40 Vienna to Jeddah Friday, 05 April 2024 Departure: 11:30 Arrival: 17:35 Upon arriving in Vienna, I stayed in a hotel at my own expense as recommended by the travel agent to book a stay due to the length of time to the flight departing to Jeddah. Next morning, upon attempting to check i, I was informed that the flight had departed the day before at 11:30. Wizz Air, the flight provider, directed me to contact the third party whom I had booked the flight with namely MyTrip). Upon contacting Mytrip customer service, I received conflicting information regarding the booking. Initially, the agent claimed that an email was sent on the 24th of February informing me of a change in the flight schedule to the day before. However, this explanation does not align with the facts, as it is not logical for me to depart on a flight that had already left. Furthermore, the email referred to, dated 24th February, which I received from MyTrip, stated 'New Itinerary' with the same schedule as originally booked. As a result of this confusion, I incurred additional expenses, including the cost of accommodation in Vienna and the purchase of a new flight and a delay and fault with my travel plans. Wizz air confirmed they informed mytrip well in advance of these changes which were not bought to my attention. The travel agent was confident that I will get no compensation and offered me £50 for the connecting flight which was be never there to begin with. Do not book from these scammers as you will be left with frustration angered and left with little to no help

Horrible services

Horrible services, horrible customer service!! Avoid to pay for any complementary services they are promising to provide. For ex, I`ve paid for the possibility to choose the seats at the check-in, and they just stolen me, the seats were choosen randomly and the paid amount is non-refundable. So, for me they are some kind of theft. I`ve called the useless customer service, I was asking about my problem, and the guy was answering totally non-sense info.

Mytrip is a scam/fraud

I bought return flights hrough Mytrip where on 06/03/2024 was informed one of the return flight was cancelled by the airline. MyTrip were unable to find me any suitable Alternative flights that would work for me hence I was offered the refund on my return flights and was informed it would be completeed in 5-6days which is advertised on their website. A month has passed now and I have yet to receive my refund on my return flights. I have made several phone calls sling for refund and get same response from them that they are waiting for flight to refund to them. I am a customer of Mytrip as my payment was made to Mytrip nd they should be refunding me, they are holding my money while they already have the refund from airline as airline with which my flight was s per their website they complete the refunds in 5-7business days. Whenever I call Mytrip would get transferred from one person to another and everyone would read same story to wait until they get any update from airline, they don't have a refund team who you can speak too. I have been scammed by them where they are not refunding me my money and also not going to get the service at same time for which they were paid. I would suggest anyone to steer clear of this scamming organisation and not to buy anything from them.

Scammers.. Purchased 2 x Security Fasttrack Tickets for 20eu's (Which never actually turned up !). Then got a 75eu charge a few days later. I had not read their T&C's closely enough, and had been automatically subscribed to their "Concierge" Service, 75 eu per quarter ! 3 was apparently a 3 day free trial, but if not cancelled then you get charged. They rely on people not noticing whats going on due to being on Holiday. Probably never send anyone the Fastrack Tickets, just use it as a way to lure people into the bigger 75eu Scam !

This service is ridiculous!!

This service is ridiculous!!! I was not given the option to add luggage and when requested money was taken but the luggage was not added. The representative kept saying give me 5mins to check but the 5mins never ended only to tell me they cannot help. The most simplest thing a passanger could ask for is adding a luggage allowance. In utter shock and disspaointment will never use or recommend the service

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs! I had 4 flights cancelled and despite being informed I was entitled to a full refund from the airline as I had booked via MyTrip their agent had to submit the refund request - I am still waiting months later and no refund. Their customer service is appauling and unhelpful. Avoid at all costs! I am taking legal action.

Thief, crook! don't be fooled by their application which half-recovers the company's information and their Chat system or you are made to believe that everything will be arranged. Following a canceled flight, forced to go through their scam partner Airhelp, who takes 30% commission!!!!!

Zero refund from MyTrip

I booked a Cyprus Airlines flight through mytrip from Paris to Larnaca for 29th November 2023. On 22nd September Cyprus Airlines cancelled the flight. As of today 12th March 2024, mytrip have not yet refunded me claiming they are yet to receive their refund from Cyprus Airlines. Totally unacceptable. I don't think they have any intention of refunding. Avoid this company at all costs
