Complete P&O Drinks Guide with Menus, Prices and Packages

In this post you’ll find the P&O drinks menus and prices , correct as of 2024.

Is the drinks package worth it? Making a decision about purchasing a drinks package can be difficult, so this post is designed to help you.

P&O drinks prices are in pounds sterling so it’s easy to gauge affordability. In my opinion, the drinks prices are very comparable to UK pub and restaurant prices.

P&O Drinks Guide

On P&O, drinks can be purchased individually or with a drinks package.

P&O drinks packages can be pre-purchased up until three days before your cruise. If you do this, you receive a 10% discount.

You can purchase packages when you get on board (no discount) and the price is added to your on board account and paid at the end of your cruise.

There are occasionally pre-cruise offers to tempt you to purchase ahead of your cruise so we recommend keeping your eye out.

This P&O drinks guide provides you with the individual prices, sourced from bar menus onboard. Prices are the same across all P&O ships.

P&O Drinks Menu: Draught Beer with Prices

P&O Drinks Menu: Pale Ale

Indian pale ale (ipa) menu with prices, golden/blonde ale menu with prices, world larger menu with prices, strong ale menu with prices, p&o drinks menu: speciality beer.

Interesting beers such as Banana Bread Beer and Mocha Ale are featured in the specialty section of the P&O drinks menu.

Beer Flights

In Brodie’s Pub the drinks menu features beer flights. Each flight includes three 1/3 pints for £4.95. This enables you to try a range of new beers from different regions of Great Britain.

Spirits can be purchased in single (£3.50 to £5.10) and double (£6.00 to £7.60) measurements. Mixers are purchased separately. As an example, rum and coke is £5.10 but the mixer will give you enough for two drinks.

There are plenty of cocktails on the P&O drinks menus but I noticed that there were less frozen cocktails to choose from in comparison to other cruise lines such as Princess Cruises.

I did try a frozen Margarita on embarkation day and it just didn’t have as much flavour. My advice would be to avoid the frozen cocktails and order some that you may not have tried before. The Fruit Salad cocktail is one I’d recommend for around the pool on a warm day as it’s very refreshing.

I thought that the martinis available were excellent and perfect for pre-dinner drinks.

P&O Mocktails Menu

There are non-alcoholic cocktails available on all P&O drinks menus and in particular, Brodie’s offers a good choice for £3.25 each.

The Pussyfoot mocktail is a classic that has featured on P&O drinks menus for over 30 years. I remember enjoying them onboard Canberra when I was six years old!

Seedlip is a range of the world’s first non-alcoholic spirits. These are a great option for people who don’t want to drink but also want something a bit more sophisticated than a soft drink.

Brodie’s Pub Snacks Menu

Brodie’s menu also features a selection of pub snacks such as pork scratchings, nuts and crisps to accompany your drinks. Are you brave enough to try the ‘Pig of Doom’ pork crackling? Beware, they contain ghost chillis!

Costa Coffee on P&O

You can purchase your favourite Costa drinks onboard P&O Cruises, so if you like to start your day with a strong coffee, you may want to head to the coffee bar.

Tea on P&O

There is a selection of tea on P&O Cruises from your everyday brew to fruit and herbal teas. A cup of tea is £2.20.

Bars on P&O Britannia

There are plenty of bars onboard P&O Britannia to choose from so you’re never too far away from a drink. You will find some, like The Glass House, on other ships in the fleet.

Brodie’s Pub

Brodie’s is P&O Cruises’ onboard pub, a hub for live music, sport and entertainment. This venue is named after P&O’s co-founder, Brodie McGhie Wilcox. You can expect British bottled beers, spirits and wine here. It was nice to spot my local beer, Tribute, was featured on the Best of British menu.

This venue can get quite busy, particularly in the evenings when there are quizzes and games being hosted.

There are some quieter ‘break-out’ spaces with comfy seating and the casino is situated on the opposite side.

There is waiter service or you can order directly from the bar in Brodie’s.

The Glass House

The Glass House can be found near the atrium and is the perfect place for those who appreciate fine wine. The menu was developed by wine connoisseur, Olly Smith and includes a light, tapas-style food menu that incorporates wine pairings.

If you enjoy sipping a cocktail and watching the wake view, the Sunset Bar is a perfect spot. We enjoyed spending some time here in the late afternoon, during sailaways.

Crystal Room Bar

The Crystal Room is a lounge on Deck 7 on Britannia that’s popular with dancers. Most nights there is ballroom dancing here. As they say, dancers aren’t drinkers, so if you’re looking for a quiet bar, this venue is likely to be a good choice.

The Crow’s Nest

For fantastic front-facing views during the day and elegant drinks at night, The Crow’s Nest is a bar that can be found across the P&O fleet. The bar isn’t open all day but in the evening it turns into a sophisticated piano bar for after-dinner drinks. This venue can be quite popular on formal nights.

Live Lounge

On Deck 7 aft on Britannia, the Live Lounge is an entertainment venue that offers live music and doubles as the ship’s nightclub.

On some occasions, this venue was completely empty and we popped in to get a quick drink at the bar. This is where the 80s night is held but don’t worry, fancy dress is not required or encouraged.

The Limelight Club

The Limelight Club has a glamorous interior and hosts evening cabaret entertainment over dinner.

We booked this venue twice during our cruise and really enjoyed the entertainment but the food was not up to the standard of the main dining room. I’d advise to go for the atmosphere, not the weird menus.

The Blue Bar

The main bar situated in the atrium on Britannia is a great place to meet friends and family before dinner. It’s very popular on formal nights as the place to sip your champagne or bellini.

This bar is brilliant for people watching and in the evenings there’s usual musicians in the atrium to provide some ambiance. It gets quieter after dinner as passengers head off to the other venues so for a drinks with friends it’s a nice spot.

P&O Drinks Packages

There are four P&O drinks packages available to cater for different needs.

It’s important to note that if you wish to purchase a drinks package, all passengers sharing a cabin must do so . This is to stop people sharing one package.

It means that you must choose the drinks package that most want to use. For example, you cannot mix and match drinks packages so if one person wants to purchase the Deluxe Drinks Package, all other adults in the same cabin must do too.

P&O Deluxe Drinks Package £54.95 pppd

• The most extensive P&O drinks package offers up to 15 alcoholic drinks per day
• Non-alcoholic drinks are unlimited
• A 20% discount is offered on canned drinks and bottles of wine
• Bottled water (500ml) are available with this package
• Primo Costa and Teapigs drinks are included with this drinks package
• Only one drink can be ordered at a time and a 15 minute wait is required between drinks orders
• For beer drinkers, you need to drink more than 8 pints a day to make it worthwhile
• For cocktail lovers, you need to drink at least 6 cocktails each day to reach the drinks package daily cost
• If you enjoy spirits with a mixer, you need to drink at least 8 each day to cover the package cost
• Doubles or large glasses of wine count as two drinks
• The Deluxe Drinks Package is only available on cruises of five nights or more
• You must purchase the Deluxe Drinks Package by day two of your cruise
• It is only available to adults 18 and over (21 or over in US/UAE waters)

P&O Alcohol-free Drinks Package £24.95 pppd

• This P&O drinks package offers unlimited draught soft drinks, juices, bottled water (500ml), non-alcoholic beverages and mocktails
• A 20% discount is offered on larger bottled water, canned drinks and bottled premium soft drinks
• Selected Primo Costa and Teapigs drinks are included with this drinks package
• You need to drink at least 7 mocktails to make it worth purchasing the package
• For soft drink lovers, the package is worth purchasing if you plan to drink 10 or more each day
• The Non-Alcoholic Drinks Package is only available on cruises of five nights or more
• You must purchase the drinks package by day two of your cruise

P&O Refresh Drinks Package £10.95 pppd

• This P&O drinks package offers unlimited soft drinks on tap
• Unlimited juice and squash is included
• Only one drink can be ordered at a time
• You must purchase the package by day two of your cruise
• A complimentary Refresh Drinks Package is given to any guests aged 17 or younger if adults in the same cabin have the Classic or Deluxe Drinks Packages

P&O Wine Packages

P&O Cruises has two wine packages to choose from:

• Captain’s Collection offers six bottles for £129 or 12 bottles for £245
• Commodore’s Collection offers six bottles for £175 or 12 bottles for £329

Is the P&O Drinks Package worth it?

Personally, we were ready to purchase the Ultimate Drinks Package when we got onboard but quickly realised that for us, it wouldn’t be worth it.

If you plan to drink plenty on your cruise it will be worth purchasing but it will take some doing e.g. 8 pints or 6 cocktails a day just to cover the cost. The best value P&O drinks package is the Refresh drinks package at just £9.85 per person, per day but it does mean that everyone in the cabin will need at least the non-alcoholic drinks package.

The P&O drinks prices are very reasonable and what you’re likely to find in most UK high street bars and restaurants. By paying for individual drinks we didn’t feel pressurised to get our money’s worth.

There are opportunities to bag some free drinks on your P&O cruise if you keep your eye out. If you’re looking to keep your costs down, there is always tea, coffee, cordial and milk available at no additional charge throughout the day and juices are served at breakfast.

You may wish to consider buying a P&O drinks package if you have plenty of sea days or plan to spend more time on the cruise ship. I would advise you to do some simple calculations first before feeling like you need to have one.

P&O Cruises Alcohol Policy, Wine, Drinks Prices

Learn about current P&O Cruises alcohol policy and how much cost drinks on P&O Cruises ships (drink prices regularly updated). P&O line's beverage policy was changed pretty soon for liquor availability to be consumed in the stateroom. Originally guests could take their own drink but it was also easy to order through interactive TV (room steward delivery) within 24 hours.

P&O Alcohol Policy

In 2011, P and O cruise lines introduced the new Duty-Free shops offering good prices and available almost immediately. Very soon though, and not surprisingly, prices went up by 50%, which was still a good deal. This is the reason why it makes sense to take mixers and buy alcohol on board P&O cruise ships.

Drinking age on PandO ships

Passengers must be 18-year old or over to be allowed to purchase or consume alcohol (or to gamble) onboard P&O. Guests younger than 18 are not served alcohol. Drinking age is 18 years outside US waters, and in American Waters - 21 years. 16 and 17 years old may be brought cider, wine, or beer to drink with meals in P and O restaurants, only if accompanied by an adult. Alcohol ashore purchased by under 18's are confiscated at the gangway. Government photo identification is sometimes requested - Queensland ‘Adult Proof Age Card’ is accepted, but the older Queensland ‘Card 18+’ version is not.

Can I bring alcohol on P&O cruises - alcohol policy

How about bringing liquor at embarkation? According to P and O Cruises, passengers may bring small amounts of alcohol onboard with no amount of restriction. However, P&O reserves the right for removing alcohol at gangway should any need arise. The line generally allows reasonable alcohol amounts to be taken for yourself to enjoy in the cabin, but taking bottles into lounges or restaurants incurs corkage fees. Note that the charged corkage fees will cost you GBP 11 per item of any size, per occasion.

NOTE: In November 2017, in a change to previous policies, P&O places restrictions on the amount of alcohol that is brought onboard. Currently, each guest 18 or older is allowed to only bring 1 bottle of beer, wine, Champagne, liqueur or spirits up to 1 liter during embarkation. Additional alcohol, of which any bought ashore or in the duty-free shops onboard, is confiscated and held until the sailing's last night.

At embarkation and disembarkation all your luggage, including check-in and hand, will be x-rayed. Passengers have to declare to Customs the amounts of excess alcohol. Bringing champagne or wine onboard is allowed. If you wish to take champagne or wine onboard for celebrating an event, the bottles' number will be at port authorities' discretion. You will be also charged the due corkage fees.

Purchasing liquor from P&O cruise ships’ duty-free shops and ashore

• Purchasing liquor in ports of call is allowed. Any purchased ashore alcohol will be collected at the gangway, kept safe and returned to you on the last day of the voyage.
• Duty-free liquor products that are sold in P&O ships' shops will be available only to take home. If you make an order at any time during the voyage via these shops, your orders will be available to collect at the end of the cruise.
• Passengers under 18 will are not permitted to purchase alcohol and may be asked to verify age. It's prohibited to attempt purchasing alcohol for those who are under 18 in the onboard shops.
• If you want to purchase a bottle of alcohol for consumption in the cabin during the voyage, you must make a room service order. The service details are located in the cabin directory.
• P&O shops offer a price guarantee on tobacco and liquor purchases. The line guarantees that her duty-free shop is cheaper than any of the comparable outlets (including shops ashore during your voyage). All you have to do is provide proof of cheaper price from retailers recognized by P&O. Online price comparison is not included. If you have purchased alcohol onboard, the shop will make a refund for the difference back on your onboard account. When you haven't purchased yet, but have proof of cheaper price ashore, P&O duty-free shops will price match.
• Free alcoholic beverages are served at P&O ships' cocktail parties.
• Duty-free shops location by ship: Arcadia (Deck 3); Adonia (Deck 5); Aurora, Azura, Oceana, Ventura (Deck 6); Oriana (Deck 7).

• Draught beers: Boddingtons and Stella Artois.
• Bottled beers: Bass Pale Ale, Beck's, Beck's nonalcoholic, Boddingtons, Budweiser, Caffrey's, Carlsberg, Corona, Greene King IPA, Guinness, John Smith's, Kingfisher, Leffe, Magners and Magners Pear, Marston Pedigree, Newcastle Brown Ale, Old Speckled Hen, Peroni Nastro Azzuro, Spitfire, San Miguel, Stella Artois, Strongbow, Tiger.

Specialty bars on P and O cruise ships

Onboard each P&O ship there are a variety of specialty bars, which offer a range of drinks at low and competitive prices. Drinks can be also purchased in P&O restaurants. There are different specialty bars on P&O ships and they vary by vessel. Anderson Bar is on Aurora and Oriana; Intermezzo on Arcadia; Blue Bar on Azura; Magnums on Oceana, and Red Bar on Ventura, all offer special drinks' selections, only available in there. Also discover treats like Pendryn Welsh Whisky, Williams English Gin, Champagne and caviar, and many others.

How much are drinks on P&O Cruises - alcohol and drink prices

Note: All P&O Cruises drink prices are in GBP / British pounds (GBP ).

• All liqueur and spirit measures are 25ml (0,8 US fl oz)
• Aperitif, port and sherry measures are 50ml (1,7 US fl oz)
• Prices of drinks are inclusive of gratuities.

These are the prices of bottled or canned beverages (soft drinks, mocktails).

Ales, bitters, stout beers prices

Gin and gin cocktails prices, cocktail drinks prices.

Follow the prices of alcohol drinks served over ice, and of refreshing cocktails.

By the glass WINE prices

By the bottle wine prices, soda and soft beverages prices, alcohol prices (of wines, spirits, aperitifs, whiskies), p&o cruises alcohol packages.

"Spirit Package" prices also include 6x (150ml) soda cans of your choice as a bonus. All cabin bottle purchases are allowed only for in-cabin consumption.

NEW "P&O Australia" alcohol package (all-inclusive, unlimited drinks)In September 2015, the P&O Cruises Australia line introduced its first alcohol package on the ship Pacific Pearl (now CMV Columbus) . The new drink package was rolled out across the PandO Australia's fleet. Named “Premium Beverage”, the new all-inclusive drink package's price is AUD 69 per person per day. The unlimited beverage package (non-transferable, 1 drink ordered at a time) includes wine (by the glass), beer, liquor (spirits priced up to AUD 12), bottled water, also soft drinks and coffee/tea. The offer will be available on 7 nights and longer P&O AU cruises.P&O Cruises wine packagesWine packages can be consumed either in your cabin or in the restaurant. • Soft Drinks Package: A soft drinks package is also available to buy at a cost of GBP 35, including 20 refills of 330ml soft drinks from any PO bar (Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Lemonade). This would give 10% savings on normal cost.
• Costa Coffee Card: A coffee card is available to buy at a cost of GBP 21,50, including 10 Primo (12oz) Costa coffees, Latte, Cappuccino or Americano.

P&O alcohol policy is committed to responsible liquor service. Sometimes the P and O line may consider appropriate to refuse alcohol service to a passenger for any reason. P&O also reserves the right for taking alcohol (when brought on board) at the gangway and returning to guests at the end of the voyage. The company stated they would implement this alcohol policy only when they consider it likely that comfort, health, and safety of passengers may be compromised.

P&O Drinks Packages Explained – 2023 prices

We have created this handy guide to simply explain each package along with some ‘need to knows’ that you find in the small print, so that you can find out if the P&O drinks package is worth the cost. Also, further down you will find a selection of current drinks prices, so you can work out if one of the drinks packages is for you.

As big fans of P&O, we are pleased to see they have finally introduced drinks packages as for us it will make budgeting much easier as the packages offer great value for money – are the P&O drinks packages worth it? For us it’s a no brainer, they are definitely worth it.

Remember the prices quoted may change, but this are the current prices and before loyalty discount.  Loyalty discount is also applied to Drinks Packages, so it may be cheaper depending on your status in the Peninsular Club.

P&O Drinks Packages explained:

The ultimate drinks package – £39.95pp per day.

• Beers, spirits, cocktails, liqueurs and wines by the glass retailing up to £6.95 per (wine is classified as 175ml for still wine, 125ml for Sparkling wine and 75ml or 50ml for Fortified and Dessert wines. Spirits will be served in single measures only with a draught soda or long-life juice mixer).
• Bottled water (500ml only), draught soft drinks, long life juices, primo Costa coffees, teas, hot chocolates, non-alcoholic cocktails.
• 20% discount on the following excluded items: any drinks retailing above £6.95, all bottles of wine, large bottles of water, canned or bottled premium soft drinks or juices and smoothies.
• A big bonus is that a children’s package is also included.
• Alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 beverages per 24-hour period (6 am to 6 am).  Those drinking more than 15 drinks will be charged full price.
• Ordering a double shot or a large glass of wine is not permitted under the programme as it counts as two drinks.
• Drinks over £6.95 will be charged at full price

The Non-alcoholic drinks package – £19.95pp per day

• The package includes bottled water (500ml only), draught soft drinks, long life juices, primo Costa coffees, teas, hot chocolates, non-alcoholic cocktails.
• 20% discount on the following excluded items: large bottles of water (750ml/1.5l), canned or bottled premium soft drinks or juices and smoothies, large/medio sized coffee and hot chocolate.

The Hot drinks package – £10.95pp per day

• Unlimited primo sized “Costa” coffees, hot chocolate and “teapigs” teas.
• 20% discount on large/medio coffee or hot chocolate.

The Children’s drinks package – £7.95pp per day

• Draught soft drinks (Pepsi, Lemonade, Tonic and Soda), selected long life juices, primo size hot chocolate and fruit squash/cordial by the glass.

Important P&O Drinks Packages Terms

• When purchasing the drinks package, all adults sharing the cabin must purchase it. One adult is unable to purchase and share with another.  Children’s packages come free with the Ultimate Drinks package but if purchased separately a package must be purchased for all the children in that cabin.
• The package will be offered on the first two days of the cruise and must be purchased for the remaining duration of the cruise.  If you purchase it on day two, you will only pay for the remaining days but will still be charged for drinks on day 1.
• Only one drink at a time may be ordered.
• There is a minimum 15 minute wait time between ordering drinks.
• Room Service, Mini Bar and self service drinks are excluded.

Special Offers

Some people have mentioned offers of 7 nights for the price of 6 or 14 for the price of 12.  This seems to be random, not all ships or cruises will have them.  We sailed on Arcadia in July (read about that here ) and there was no special offer.

What is a P&O Cruise Drinks Package

When you book a holiday with P&O Cruises, you have the handy option of prepaying for a range of delicious drinks - from soft drinks and tea to cocktails and wine - with a convenient and cost-effective Drinks or Beverages Package.

We offer five main Drinks Packages. The 'Premium Beverage Package' and 'The Lot! Beverage Package' are available to adult guests 18 + years on cruises of seven nights or more, and the 'Spring Water Package', 'Soft Drinks Package' and 'Refreshment Package' are available to all guests onboard any cruise.

Drinks packages can be pre-purchased in Cruise Control , or by contacting our Customer Service team, from approximately 90 days up until 4 days before departure. Please note that all prices quoted on this page are in $AUD. Beverage packages can only be purchased pre-cruise and are not available onboard. Items ordered for room service are not covered by Beverage Packages.

The Soft Drinks Package

Available on all cruises

Quench your thirst with the The Soft Drinks Package. This option is perfect for families travelling with kids, and includes unlimited glasses of soda water, Pepsi Max*, Pepsi Regular*, Solo Lemon*, Sunkist*, Schweppes Lemonade*, tonic water, and ginger ale.

Onboard price: AU$7.50 per person per day

Pre-purchase before cruising: AU$10.00 per person per day

The Refreshment Drinks Package

Make your holiday even more refreshing! The Refreshment Drinks Package includes unlimited glasses of soda water, Pepsi Max*, Pepsi Regular*, Solo Lemon*, Sunkist*, Schweppes Lemonade*, tonic water, ginger ale, 600ml bottled water, juice blends, mocktails, espresso coffee drinks and T2 beverages.

Onboard price: AU$25.00 per person per day

The Premium Beverage Package

You can have up to 15 alcohol beverages per 24-hour period, while non-alcohol beverages have no daily limit.

The Spring Water Package

If you prefer bottled water you can have six 1.5 litre bottles of pure Australian spring water delivered to your room. These bottles are made from 100% recycled PET – this means no new plastic is created when making the water bottles. Sold individual onboard for $5.25.

If more than one drink is requested, the most expensive drink (that is $16 or under) will be accounted for by the Premium Beverage Package and the other drink(s) will be charged to your onboard account.
• Alcoholic beverages are limited to 15 beverages per 24-hour period (6am to 6am) and the service is always subject to P&O’s Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Policy. Alcoholic beverages requested above this limit are charged at regular menu prices and are subject to RSA.
• Service and availability is limited to each venue’s menu offerings and operating hours.

Full payment by credit card or debit card is required at the time of purchase and cancellation for a full refund is only permitted up until four days prior to the cruise departure date. Hi everyone. Not that I'm new to cruising but a question regarding wine packages on P&O. I am aware there's either the Captains or Commodores package and I'm also aware of the price although I am not sure whether the % that P&O claim to take off such packages means you get none of the benefits of the particular tier that you are in ( Caribbean 10%). Can anyone tell me whether they are worth purchasing as we don't drink wine at every meal as sometimes I will have a beer and the wife a G&T. But we are going on a cruise where 12 bottles would mean a 1/3rd of the cruise we would have a bottle of wine.

Providing they are bottles of wine you would chose anyway then it’s worth it. I’ve often found that in a selection of 12 there are a couple that would not be my choice.

You choose which wines you want to drink from the relevant package list … they don’t just give you 12 random bottles … you could therefore drink 12 bottles of the same wine if you wanted too.

we have found it to be a saving on our favourite wines
