I had not used PlanetCruise before and in honesty had never heard of them, but figured I had nothing to loose as their pricing on their website looked good. I spoke to Ian who was more than helpful, very friendly and so patient with me while I got him to work out all different options for an upcoming trip I was planning. Nothing was too much trouble and he went out of his way to find the best available cabins for us, whilst also offering different perspectives and putting a personal approach to his recommendations. This morning I had to ring as one of the Date of Births was wrong on the confirmation, Ian wasn't in so I spoke to someone in Customer Service who sorted this out for me. However, within half an hour of calling Ian had rung me back as he noticed my number as a missed call. I spent 10 years as a Customer Service Manager and would be thrilled if any of my team has taken this approach to our customers. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend PlanetCruise and will be requesting their help when I come to book my next trip.

Quick, easy, great value !

We saw the special offer in the paper on Sunday, went online to find more information (easily done)then booked with one phone call at 7.30 the same night ! The whole exercise was simple, coherent and very easy.

Booked and paid Forbes a cruise online on Wedensday Evening, received confirmation by email five minutes later. First thing this morning had a phone call from Planet Cruise confirming our cruise and cabin number which had been upgraded.:)

Don't book Planet Cruise from their Journey magazine or too far in advance

Twice now we have booked a cruise and then the price dropped straight after, not at the last minute. You may well ask why book a second time? Well the sales representative on the phone managed to get us an upgrade for a small supplement (after we had been told it was not possible) and assured me that because the price was in the Journey magazine the price was fixed. Having contacted them with a request for a price for an upgrade, silence; calls and e mails not returned. At last I sent a letter of complaint (Booking terms say a reduction in their costs would be returned to us) triggered a contact. I am still waiting for a return call the next day. We will not be using Planet Cruise again and cannot recommend them.

Nearly mpossible to contact once you have booked. You are constantly referred to their help page, which doesn't offer help, and there online chat facility, which is rubbish. I feel as though I am on my own should anything go wrong or need assistance

Do it yourself

Booked a cruise with Planet and basically you are better off doing everything yourself. Other than book a date and take your money not interested, refer to manage online or contact cruise line direct ... rubbish.

We have booked 2 cruises recently with…

We have booked 2 cruises recently with Planet cruise, 1 coming up in September and the other in January. I can honestly say we have had no problems or issues at all. The only thing we did complain about when we got through to them on the phone, was the length of time waiting in a queue which was nearly 3 hours. Other than that so far so good and will book again with them.

Booked on Marella discovery which is a 30yr old ship & it shows. Poor or no air conditioning & controller unsafe & hanging off the wall, no fans supplied Room is so dated as is the whole ship with no fridge in the room so the supplied water is too warm to use I will never book via planet cruise again & certainly won’t be on another Marella ship given I paid a lot of money for a shocking cruise ship which is the worst I’ve ever cruised on

I have given two stars because this…

I have given two stars because this company is very good when arranging your holiday. But now it has cancelled I have been waiting since June for my refund. Have tried to ring but the call cuts off if it is for anything other than a booking and my emails are replied to with "so sorry, we are taking longer than we thought to refund". I just want back what was eagerly taken, nearly £5,000, but what is now dragging on for 6 months without return. Shame on you Planet Cruise. Mrs. Joan Unwin

Nightmare in New York

booked holiday which was easy arrived in New York everything fine until we arrived at hotel to be told hotel closed two years previous that's when things went down hill with Planet cruise that was in March this is July and have had one response to say they would be in touch that was April!! book with someone else not iglu either as they are all one!!!

Planet Cruise Refund Policy becomes even worse. Repeatedly told refund would be made between 90-120 days. 125 days now & counting. Customer services told me today “accounts aren’t answering their phones any more” Shockingly Awful

Only gave 1 star because you can't give zero. Had to cancel our cruise because of the wife's illness. Been waiting for a refund since January Lack off support front customer service, say they will speak to P&O and call back never do. Boked through plantcriuse for years, but will never use again

Most cruise and holiday companies have dealt with refunds not Planet/Iglu ,.We understand the circumstances and realise it could take a little longer but after 17 week of waiting and no further news on a refund it is unacceptable and people need to know what these companies are like. They are still advertising in a big way but have left their customers still waiting for large amounts of money.My advise is book directly with cruise companies.

Actually spoke to a lady called Kelly, and she was so unhelpful and said that waiting 120 days for a refund is much better than waiting for a year if it went through ABTA. Even said if we want to put bad reviews everywhere carry on - this is not how business is done. Shame on you Kelly and shame on Planet Cruise.

"A NIGHTMARE I STILL HAVE FEAR OF" THE ABSOLUTE WORSE TRAVEL COMPANY I'VE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF DEALING WITH. IT TOOK THEM MORE THAN A YEAR TO ANSWER MY ENDLESS FONE CALLS AND THEN ANOTHER YEAR TO GET PART OF MY MONEY BACK AFTER THE CRUISE WAS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID19 RESTRICTIONS. THEY MADE ME SUFFER SO MUCH ANXIETY & FRUSTRATION. A ONE STAR RATING IS FAR TOO GOOD FOR THEM, MINUS 1000 WOULD BE MORE TRUE OF THE WAY THEY CONDUCT BUSINESS.

Tomorrow I go to the Small Claims Court

Despite trying all I can to obtain my refund from this terrible and uncaring Company the Director's and Senior Manger's continue to arrogantly ignore me. So after 142 days I am left with no choice but to take it to the Small Claims Court. Please, please if you are thinking of using this Company, think again they have no respect for their Customers and will keep your money if things go wrong!!!!

162 days and still no refund

162 days and still no refund. No one from Planet Cruise is able or refusing to tell me where I am in the refund list. I've been waiting for over a week for the customer care manager to get a response from the account department. Planet cruise obviously work in silos. I cannot understand why departments are not communicating with one another. No one is able to tell me how they are implementing the refund process. I'm sorry to say this company is presenting as shambolic. The only emails I get are generalised that DO NOT answer any questions posed. All I can say is be extremely wary of giving any money to Planet Cruise. Disgraceful

Booking ref 942875. My wife and myself booked a Baltic Cruise. The cruise was cancelled by company who went into administration. We submitted claim through ABTA who eventually paid up less the sum of £346.70 which we were told would be paid by Planet Cruise. They agreed we were due this sum but said ABTA should pay! It is close to a year since these funds were paid. I am extremely disappointed by the shocking customer service we have received and will never use them again.

Moscow River

Moskva river has the form of a snake and is the main waterway of Moscow, consisting of a cascade of reservoirs. Within the city, Moskva river is 80 km long, 120 m - 200 m wide and up to 14 m deep. The narrowest part of the river is the Kremlin area in the city center, and the most extensive is around the Luzhniki Stadium in the south. 

Bridges in Moscow

Undoubtedly, bridges and embankments are among the most scenic spots and main attractions of Moscow. Plus, they are so romantic.

• Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge –  Great Stone Bridge –  is the main bridge of Moscow . The first stone bridge was constructed here in the 17th century.
• Patriarshy Bridge  is one of the youngest pedestrian bridges, built in 2004. The bridge connects the iconic Christ the Saviour Cathedral with funky Bersenevskaya embankment, extremely popular place among locals for its trendy art galleries, cafes and panoramic views. Patriarshy Bridge used to be a shooting location for ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's New Year speech to the nation.
• Borodinsky Bridge,  erected in honor of the 100th anniversary of the glorious victory in the Battle of Borodino (which every Russian kid knows about), a fierce legendary battle during the Russo-French war of 1812.
• Bagration Bridge  one of the  pedestrian bridges with most picturesque views of the Moskva River with its numerous upper-level observation platforms. The bridge was erected to celebrate the 850th anniversary of Moscow city in 1997.
• Krymsky Bridge  used to be in Top 5 Europe’s longest bridges some 100 years ago. The bridge got its name after the ancient Krymsky ford which Crimean Tartars used to invade Moscow in the 16 th  century.

Embankments of Moscow

Moscow river boats 37 embankments, the most popular being Kremlevskaya, Sofiyskaya, Pushkinskaya, Vorobyovskaya and Kolomenskaya.

You can get the most spectacular views of the Kremlin from  Kremlevskaya and Sofiyskaya embankments.

• Pushkinkaya embankment  is the most romantic in Moscow. It meanders along Gorky Park and Neskuchnyi garden and is rich for all kinds of entertainment as well as cozy nooks, including Olivkovy beach, the famous Zeleny theater as well as a pier for river cruisers.
• Vorobyevskaya embankment  is part of Sparrow Hills nature reserve. This place opens a beautiful panorama of the river and city from the observation deck and is considered to be the place for taking serious decisions in life.
• Embankment in Kolomenskoye  Museum-Reserve has a special charm due to its peculiar geographical relief. The boat trip around Kolomenskoye would be the most peaceful in your life.
• Taras Shevchenko embankment  is popular among photographers for its modern Moscow City skyscrapers. Highly recommended for your night boat trip.
• Embankments of Moscow are the pride of the capital. A distinctive feature of each of the promenades is its architecture and beautiful views. In addition, almost all the embankments of Moscow have a rich history and a lot of notable buildings.

Different epochs

Taking a walk along the Moskva River by boat, you will witness the architecture of Moscow from different eras and styles. Archaeological studies indicate that already in the XI century there stood a fortified settlement on Borovitsky hill, which is now called the Kremlin. Little fortress could not accommodate all the residents of the rapidly growing city, and the Grand Duke ordered the construction of a new Kremlin, larger than the former.

Boat trip around Kolomenskoe Park

Moscow river boat trip starts from the pier Klenovy (Maple) Boulevard and provides reat views of Nicholas Perervinsky monastery.

Nicholas Perervinsky monastery was founded at the time of the Battle of Kulikov (1380). The monastery, got its name from the surrounding area – “Pererva”, which can be translated like “tear off” and because of the location –  here it abruptly changed its course, turning to Kolomna, standing on the opposite bank.

Nowadays Kolomenskoye is State Art, Historical, Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve, which doors are open to everyone who wants to get in touch with the ancient history of Russia.

Take a break from the big city hustle in the shady parks and gardens of the Kolomenskoe Museum-Reserve. Don’t miss a wonderful Church of the Ascension and Tsar Alexey’s Palace in Kolomenskoye!

Monasteries and temples

• Novospassky Monastery
• Founded in the 13th century on the site where now is located the Danilovsky monastery. After a few decades, in 1330, Ivan Kalita moved the monastery onto the Borovitskii hill of the Kremlin. However, in the 15th century, Spassky Monastery again moved, this time to a more spacious place on Krasnoholmskaya waterfront.
• Church of St. Nicholas in Zayaitskom
• Erected in the middle of the XVIII century in baroque style. The building survived after the 1812 fire, but the utensils were destoyed. Parishioners collected donations and restored the temple on their own. In Soviet times, it was closed and re-opened only in 1992.
• Cathedral of Christ the Savior
• The church was originally erected in honor of the victory over Napoleon and was being under construction for long 44 years. Notoriously demolished in 1937 to be a giant swimming pool under open sky. The current building was constructed in 1990s. It is the tallest and one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world.
• The temple was built in 1679-82, during the reign of Tsar Fedor Alekseevich, in late Muscovite Baroque style and can be characterized as bonfire temple. Each gable is a symbol of a heavenly fire.
• Novodevichy Convent
• The most famous concent and monastery in Moscow, presumably founded in 1524. Novodevichy’s status has always been high among other monasteries, it was in this monastery where the women of the royal blood, the wives of Tsars and local rulers of Moscow were kept in prison as nuns.
• St. Andrew’s church  (male acts as Compound Patriarch of Moscow)
• St. Andrew’s church stands right on the slopes of the Sparrow Hills, on the way down to the Moskva River, on the territory of the Nature Reserve “Sparrow Hills”. The monastery is small in size but is very cozy. It’s situated in a quiet courtyard surrounded by temples, fruit trees and flowers.
