Skyrim:Transport

skyrim fast travel vs carriage

There are multiple methods of transport in Skyrim.

  • 1.1 Movement Speeds by Method and Conditions
  • 3 Dragon Riding DB
  • 4 Horse Riding
  • 6.1 Dead Man's Dread CC
  • 7 Fast Travel

Walking, Running, Strafing and Sprinting [ edit ]

Walking is the slowest speed at which you will normally move. To walk, use the movement control appropriate for your platform. You cannot move faster than at a walking pace while you are overencumbered .

You will generally spend most of your time moving at a moderate run ; running uses no stamina . You can also strafe or sidestep using the left or right "move" commands.

Sprint by holding the sprint control key (or toggle on/off for the Special Edition ). Sprinting is significantly faster than running. As it consumes stamina, you can only sprint for a limited distance. You will generally exhaust your stamina more quickly when sprinting in heavy armor or when wielding a heavy weapon.

Walking or running backwards is slower than going forwards, and you cannot sprint backwards or sideways.

Movement Speeds by Method and Conditions [ edit ]

Falling [ edit ].

Also see information on falling , which can hurt or kill you.

Dragon Riding DB [ edit ]

As part of the Dragonborn DLC, you can ride a dragon once you have acquired all three words of the Bend Will shout. For more information see Dragon Riding .

As you cannot steer a dragon while riding it, the main functionality of this method of transportation is for fast travel .

Horse Riding [ edit ]

You can travel much faster on horseback than on foot. You can also ride a horse while overencumbered for normal or fast travel. For complete information see Horses .

Carriage [ edit ]

Carriages will carry you between the nine capital cities of each hold in Skyrim for 20–50 gold. They are the fastest means to get to cities which you have not yet discovered - although in the plain game, they are only available in the five major hold capitals: the four smaller hold capitals can be the destination but not the origin of a carriage journey.

The fare to the five larger hold capitals of Markarth , Riften , Solitude , Whiterun , and Windhelm costs 20 gold, whereas going to the four smaller hold capitals of Dawnstar , Falkreath , Morthal , and Winterhold costs 50 gold.

With the Hearthfire add-on , homestead carriages also provide transport from the three homesteads to Darkwater Crossing , Dragon Bridge , Ivarstead , Karthwasten , Kynesgrove , Old Hroldan Inn , Riverwood , Rorikstead , Shor's Stone , and Stonehills . There is no charge for these services beyond the initial cost of hiring the carriage driver.

When first arriving at one of the five major hold capitals, you can speak with the carriage operator for some local information. Carriages will not operate when you are overencumbered .

The carriage drivers are:

  • Alfarinn ( Windhelm )
  • Bjorlam ( Whiterun )
  • Engar ( Windstad Manor ) HF
  • Gunjar ( Lakeview Manor ) HF
  • Kibell ( Markarth )
  • Markus ( Heljarchen Hall ) HF
  • Sigaar ( Riften )
  • Thaer ( Solitude )

Ferrymen DG [ edit ]

Three ferrymen are added by the Dawnguard add-on and can transport you between three coastal cities for 50 gold, or to Icewater Jetty for 500 gold. You can also take a self-service ferry between Icewater Jetty and Volkihar Keep .

With the Bittercup Creation , you may have to ask Harlaug to bring you to the island of Giant's Tooth . He will continue to offer transport to the remote island for 50 gold.

  • Gort ( Windhelm )
  • Harlaug ( Dawnstar )
  • Jolf ( Solitude )

skyrim fast travel vs carriage

Dead Man's Dread CC [ edit ]

With the Dead Man's Dread Creation , you will have the opportunity to acquire the Dead Man's Dread , an ancient pirate ship that serves as a player home . Once you have claimed the ship as your own, a map inside allows for instant sea transportation. This map will bring you to Solitude, Dawnstar, or Windhelm. You will also unlock the ability to travel to Volkihar Keep (or rather, Icewater Jetty) and Raven Rock once you have discovered these places. This mode of travel is one-way.

Fast Travel [ edit ]

You can fast travel from any exterior location to any location marked on your in-game map and which you have discovered (visited). Discovered locations are indicated on your map or compass with light-colored markers. Dark-colored markers, on the other hand, are places you have had marked on your map but have not yet discovered yourself, and therefore are not available for fast travel. Although fast travel transports you "instantly", a more "realistic" amount of game time will have passed upon arrival; however, such elapsed travel times are the same whether on foot or horseback.

With the Dragonborn expansion, fast traveling while riding a dragon transports you almost instantly in game time.

You cannot fast travel when near any hostile enemies, when overencumbered (unless you are on a horse), nor when falling, jumping, or during the animation of mounting a horse. Fast travel is totally disabled when playing in Survival Mode , except while riding a dragon.

Skyrim: Complete Guide To Survival Mode and Camping

Starting Survival Mode in Skyrim makes the game harder in several ways, but setting up a Campsite can help alleviate being cold and fatigued.

Quick Links

How to turn on survival mode, what is survival mode - racial passives and gameplay changes, what is survival mode - the environment and staying healthy, skyrim camping, other skyrim survival tips - materials, ingredients, and restoration.

Survival Mode is an addon for Skyrim Special Edition first introduced all the way back in 2017 as a Creation Club downloadable mod. Now that it's been included with Skyrim Anniversary Edition (and is free for Special Edition players without the upgrade), players are flocking back to experience a wholly new way of experiencing the game.

RELATED: Skyrim: How to Start Saints and Seducers

Skyrim 's Survival Mode changes a lot about the game . Players will find themselves constantly challenged by the environment and their own bodily needs through new weather effects and the maintenance of fatigue, hunger, and other status effects – stealing a Sweetroll doesn't seem like such a bad idea if it means having something to eat.

Updated June 29, 2022 by Erik Petrovich : Skyrim Anniversary Edition introduced a ton of new and returning official addons for the now decade-old RPG, including Skyrim survival mode camping and dozens and dozens more. For Survival Mode Skyrim changes a lot about the way players experience the world: temperature matters, for example, and fast travel is disabled to force players to explore the world on foot. Some of the mechanics of Skyrim Survival Mode are a bit enigmatic, but in each entry below tables lay out these new effects and systems with basic explanations of how they change the vanilla game. Skyrim survival mode is a really neat addition to the game, but it's a death sentence if you go in blind - especially on higher difficulties.

When it comes to how to enable Survival Mode there are two main methods. When starting out the game normally (in the traditional Helgen Dragon attack intro) players leave the caverns beneath Helgen after escaping their own execution. When the player leaves Helgen Keep and sees the vast expanse of Skyrim, a dialogue box pops up asking the player whether they want Survival Mode enabled. The dialogue box that pops up describes Survival Mode briefly and directs players to the "Help" tab in the menu for a more thorough explanation of the new systems.

Typically, Survival Mode is disabled until the player finishes this introductory Unbound quest. However, there is an option in the "Gameplay" tab of the system menu that enables and disables Survival Mode on a whim, which can be useful if it proves to be too much of a challenge or if the player has an Alternate Start mod installed.

Survival Mode features a litany of changes to the game that fundamentally alter how a player experiences the world of Skyrim . There are new racial passives to consider, fast travel is disabled, and players have new status effects to maintain or suffer the consequences.

RELATED: Skyrim: How To Get The Staff Of Sheogorath

It's regarded by many players as being much, much harder than the regular game. There are lots of things to know about before diving into this new mode – unprepared players will find themselves starving and freezing in minutes if they don't know what they're in for.

Racial Passives

Survival Mode changes many aspects of Skyrim , even from the very outset of the game . Several of the playable races have new racial passives related to Survival Mode, for example, that can greatly influence how easily a player can make it in the frozen North of Tamriel.

Fundamental Gameplay Changes

Playing through Survival Mode in Skyrim is a wildly different experience than the vanilla game. Some of these gameplay changes make Skyrim feel more like Morrowind or Oblivion , like having to sleep to level up, and some serve to simply make the game feel more immersive, like the inability to recover health passively.

In addition to the many changes to the way Skyrim is experienced, Survival Mode adds several new factors to keep an eye on when journeying in the Nord homeland and beyond. Staying too long on top of an icy mountain can now make players freeze to death, and not eating or sleeping now has dire consequences.

RELATED: Skyrim: How To Get Sunder And Wraithguard

These new factors change the ways players observe and interact with their environments . The path to Bleak Falls Barrow, for example, is now much more deadly than in the vanilla game thanks to the lack of food, threats to health totals, and of course the blisteringly cold mountaintop itself.

Environmental Factors

There are two main Environmental Effects introduced with Skyrim 's Survival Mode, being Cold and Warmth . Players can see what kind of environment they are currently in by looking to the right of the Compass - a Sun marks the local temperature as Warm, while a Snowflake marks the local temperature as Cold. There are six levels of Cold, each with different effects.

Players who get into the lower levels of being Cold can restore their internal temperature by standing next to something Warm like a fire, eating something hot , or holding a Torch (not simply having one in the inventory). Conversely, players rapidly become Colder in Freezing Water , instantly losing health. If a player's level of Cold reaches the maximum, they will die from being frozen.

There are two new personal Status Effects to maintain in Survival Mode, being Hunger and Fatigue. Hunger generally affects Stamina , while Fatigue generally affects Magicka . Each can be maintained in the ways one would naturally assume - eating healthily and sleeping comfortably.

  • Hunger naturally depletes over time and can be alleviated by eating food .
  • Eating enough food makes players Well Fed, and it's better to eat cooked food than other food as it restores more Hunger.
  • Not maintaining Hunger lowers total Stamina, makes swinging weapons harder, and can lead to death from Starvation
  • Fatigue naturally depletes over the course of a day, and can be alleviated by sleeping (not simply waiting)
  • Sleeping in a bed indoors, like at an Inn, makes players Well Rested. However, sleeping in a bed outdoors or in an uncomfortable place does not.
  • Not maintaining Fatigue lowers Stamina and Magicka recovery, lowers total Magicka, reduces Potion effectiveness, and can lead to death from exhaustion.

Many players have found that the rate that these two status effects decline is much faster than expected. Keep a constant watch on your current levels of Hunger and Fatigue, and don't be afraid to steal food to eat if it's necessary. Sleeping and eating at an Inn regularly is highly recommended.

Camping in Skyrim is not part of the Survival Mode addon for Skyrim Anniversary Edition , but the two work in tandem better than most mods. Camping allows players to craft and place a campsite anywhere in the world. Players can Fast Travel to their Campsite whenever they like, but of course, this feature is disabled in Survival Mode.

There are numerous benefits to taking the time to gather materials and set up a Campsite on an adventure, especially in Survival mode. It gives players a covered place to sleep, provides a place of Warmth, and is in all ways (except aesthetically) a respite from the harsh environments in the Province of Skyrim.

How To Set Up A Campsite

For camping Skyrim makes things pretty simple, requiring only a few basic materials and a Forge as well as an open place in the world to place it. Gather three pieces of Firewood and one piece of Leather , then head to the Forge and look under the "Misc" section to find craftable Camping Supplies . At the start of the game, Firewood can be gathered easily in Riverwood, while Leather can be harvested from local Deer and other animals.

When you have Camping Supplies crafted and in your inventory, it's ready to be placed out in the world. When you're ready to go to sleep for the night in the wilderness, find a relatively flat portion of land, go into your Inventory and select Camping Supplies . A dialogue box pops up confirming the placement of the campsite. Finally, after a fade to black, a tent, campfire, and place to sit appear.

How Does Camping Benefit The Player?

Camping in the vanilla game is meant as a means of increasing player immersion, providing a resting spot in one's travels, but not any other major benefits. For Survival Mode players, though, it's a near-vital resource that players should plan to carry a few of at all times, as the Tent and Campfire provide huge benefits.

  • The Tent : Sleeping in a Tent won't provide the Well Rested bonus like sleeping in a bed in an Inn, but it doesn't make the player wake up Drained like a normal wilderness bedroll.
  • The Campfire : Provides Warmth that can alleviate the negative effects of Cold. Also serves as a spot to cook limited Food (notably, Hot Soup can be made in a Camp).
  • Non-Survival Mode : Campsite can be Fast Travelled to at any point, as long as the camp hasn't been taken down of course.

Survival in Skyrim isn't as simple as just wearing the right clothes, keeping oneself fed, and getting to sleep at a decent hour. There are four things a survival mode Skyrim player can do to improve their chances of survival: get a backpack, gather useful materials, collect ingredients, and level Restoration.

Buy And Equip A Backpack

One of the addons included with Skyrim Special Edition adds backpacks to the game, which greatly increase the player's carrying capacity when equipped. These are more useful in Survival Mode than vanilla Skyrim because of the reduced carry weight for all races. Backpacks come in a lot of styles, some even come with pretty major enchantments, and they can be bought from just about any general vendor or blacksmith for next to nothing. They can also be crafted pretty easily if you find yourself strapped for cash.

Keep An Eye Out For Useful Materials...

There are lots of useful things to craft with Skyrim survival mode, and lots of materials that can be used to make these often life-saving creations. Keep an eye out for Firewood and Leather for crafting Campfires, and for crafting Backpacks, and look for Animal Skins and Hides to make Leather yourself if you can't afford to buy it.

...And Gather These Cooking Ingredients Too

In Survival Mode Skyrim makes cooking much more important than in the base game. Cooked food keeps you warm longer, serve as a source of healing, and can grant other special effects with the right ingredients. Look out for ingredients like Salt Piles for improved cooking recipes, Fire Salts for recipes that warm the player, Hawk Feathers or Mudcrab Chitin for Cure Disease potions, and Imp Gall or Scrib Jelly for Cure Poison potions.

Level Restoration For Healing

Because passive healing is disabled in Survival Mode, Restoration Spells are one way to heal oneself. Potions and Food work too, but the reduced carry weight makes carrying lots of potions and food difficult. Consider leveling up your Restoration from the beginning of the game until you reach a point where stronger healing spells are available to you before branching out into a proper build.

Fast Travel (Skyrim)

  • Edit source
  • View history

Fast Travel is a method of travel in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim . It is a way of quickly "teleporting" to any previously discovered location . The travel takes place almost instantaneously in real-world time through a loading screen , but in game time will still pass by as if the Dragonborn had walked there. When using fast travel, the time elapsed may be longer than the time it would have taken to run to the destination, especially when the distance is short.

Fast Travel can be done via the world map or by using one of the carriages stationed near the main gate of many cities. Fast travel via world map is free, but can only be done to a location that has already been discovered. Travel via carriage is limited to major cities, regardless if they have been visited or not before, with a fee relative to distance and the size of the destination city (for example it costs more to travel from Whiterun to Dawnstar than from Windhelm to Solitude even though the distance between Windhelm and Solitude is greater). The Hearthfire DLC allows the Dragonborn to hire a carriage for their homestead , which will also go to smaller cities  and towns ( Darkwater Crossing , Dragon Bridge , Ivarstead , Karthwasten ,  Kynesgrove , Old Hroldan Inn , Riverwood , Rorikstead , Shor's Stone , and Stonehills ).

With Dawnguard , fast travel can also be done between Castle Volkihar and the main island of Skyrim by boat. With Dragonborn , the initial trip to Solstheim must be by boat. (Conventional fast travel can be used later, between the docks at Windhelm and Raven Rock .)

  • 1 Conditions
  • 2 Fast travel time

Conditions [ ]

The fast travel cannot be done while in any of the following conditions:

  • While indoors
  • While jumping
  • While falling
  • While mounting or dismounting a horse .
  • While being too close to enemies
  • While being pursued by enemies/ Hold Guards
  • While taking health damage (e.g. from poison )
  • Riding on horseback.
  • Under the effect of a Fortify Carry Weight potion that is strong enough. There is no limit on fast travel distance while the potion is in effect. However, the effect of the potion immediately wears off after the arrival causing the Dragonborn to be overburdened again.

Fast travel time [ ]

Approximate time to travel between cities/towns wearing Light Armor , measured by in-game hours:

  • The amount and type of armor worn affects how much time passes during fast travel.
  • Fast traveling while on foot or on horseback takes the same amount of time. The only difference will be how the Dragonborn arrives: on foot next to the horse, or on horseback.
  • Any positive or negative effects (such as from a disease ) will still progress during fast travel.
  • Neither the Dragonborn, their horse, or any companion will encounter any enemies during fast travel.
  • Due to the respawning of enemies , dragons and creatures being scripted to happen when fast travelling; if fast travel is never used, after a certain time, encounters with them will reduce noticeably.
  •  PC     360     PS3    When arriving at a location by fast travel, random creatures can spawn in front of the Dragonborn. For example, a non-hostile bandit might spawn every time they fast-travel, who can be talked to but will become hostile if attacked. A similar bug happens when fast-traveling to Falkreath , causing all of the Hold Guards to spawn at the entrance to the city.
  •  PC    Fast traveling with followers to northern cities like Windhelm or the College of Winterhold can trigger a sliding effect on arrival. Normally, this effect is not critical; however, it is possible to sometimes slide for a very long distance and fall from a cliff.
  •  360    After waiting in a location for a long time (two or three weeks), or if multiple other characters have been played before returning to play as the affected character, fast traveling to a location might spawn enemies that have made into thralls (or raised as zombies) in the past. They will attack each other unless they are in the same faction. (Only bandits or spiders, for example).
  •  360     PS3    If fast travel is selected to any location and the back button is immediately pressed, the fast travel will not occur, the game will no longer be paused and the character menu will not be able to be opened. The pause menu can be opened, but saving the game will be the only option that functions, not loading an existing save. The "quit game" option is available, however, allowing a more time consuming reload of the game by saving and exiting the game. Reloading the game will fix this.
  •  360 (Fix)     PS3 (Fix)    Manually shut down the console, as any attempt to open the Xbox or PS3 menu will result in the loading circles on every option and they will never load.
  •  PC     360    Fast traveling on horseback to the College of Winterhold may cause one to appear several feet above the bridge.
  •  PC (Fix)    Quickly Fast traveling to another place before the horse falls off may solve the problem.
  •  PC     360     PS3    Sometimes, when attempting to fast travel, the game will say "You cannot fast travel while guards are pursuing you," even if guards are not pursuing the Dragonborn.
  •  360     PS4    Fast traveling from a snowy location can sometimes cause it to snow in areas that do not normally experience snowy weather conditions.
  •  PC (Fix)    Fast traveling to any location will fix this.
  •  PC (Fix)    Exiting the game to the desktop restarting will fix this.
  • By opening the Journal and pressing the "show on map" button for quest objectives it is possible to access the map, and thus fast travel even under circumstances that normally prevent access to the map, such as after the Dragonborn dies or at the beginning of the game while Helgen is under attack.

Also please be sure to read through ALL Change Notes

Better Fast Travel adds many more Carriages all around Tamriel at most of the small settlements/towns allowing you to use a more immersive (and possibly expensive) way to travel around Tamriel without using the Fast Travel option. It has pricing based on the distance to your destination that is fully customizable in the MCM menu. This also adds several Ships/Boats around the northern coast along with Ivarstead and Riften, all of which can be toggled on/off in the MCM menu.

This mod comes with support for both Vanilla and Hearthfires. The Hearthfires version adds the three player built houses to the Carriages once the locations have been discovered and also adds a few more locations to the Hearthfires carriages once you’ve unlocked them.

1. If upgrading from a previous version, make sure you have completely removed any previous versions of this mod (see Uninstall below)

2. Install SKSE (not required for this mod, but is required for SkyUI, MCM and the ability to use the advanced features of BFT)

3. Install SkyUI and optionally SkyUI-Away if you want the vanilla UI system – for installation of SkyUI-Away see Gophers video here

4. Download the latest version of Better Fast Travel, if you have the Hearthfires DLC, download the Hearthfires edition, otherwise get the Vanilla version. Note that if you’re using the Unofficial Skyrim Patches make sure Better Fast Travel is after them in your load order (if you’re using BOSS or LOOT this should be done for you already) otherwise there is a chance this mod will not work correctly.

5a. For the BSA version place the BSA and ESP in your Skyrim directory ‘SteamSteamAppscommonSkyrimData’ then activate the ESP under ‘Data Files’ in the Skyrim launcher.

5b. For the Loose version place the ‘Data’ folder from the zip file into the Skyrim directory ‘SteamSteamAppscommonSkyrim’ and overwrite anything if prompted, then activate the ESP under ‘Data Files’ in the Skyrim launcher.

5c. For the NMM installation, open the archive in NMM and activate the mod.

1. Load your game and open MCM

2. Go to Better Fast Travel and click the button ‘Uninstall BFT’

3. Close MCM

4. You will get a notification on the top left of your screen that BFT is uninstalling, wait 30 or so seconds for another notification it’s been Uninstalled

5. Save your game

6a. For the BSA version delete these files ‘/Skyrim/Data/BFT Ships and Carriages.esp’ ‘/Skyrim/Data/BFT Ships and Carriages.bsa’

6b. For the Loose version, to quickly delete all the Loose files associated with BFT, copy the file ‘Uninstall_BetterFastTravel.bat’ in the Optional folder to your ‘/Steam/Steam/Apps/common/Skyrim/’ directory (where SkyrimLauncher.exe and TESV.exe are located) then run it, it will delete only the files associated with this mod. If you want to double check, open the bat file in notepad. Alternatively you can delete the files manually, refer to the zip file for file names/locations.

7. Launch your save game from step 5 and Save your game again with the mod deactivated.

8. If you’re upgrading to a new version, install and activate the new version, then launch your game using the Save from Step 7, this will provide a clean start and any additional features added to the MCM menu (Disable Fast Travel for example) will work as intended.

1. Floating markers won’t always appear above Carriage Drivers or Ship Captains heads, not sure what the problem is but it sometimes doesn’t like having both Miscellaneous quests Ship Locations and Carriage Locations activated at the same time so try activating just the one you need, alternatively try toggling the quests under Miscellaneous or toggling the MCM option for Map Markers. This function was primarily meant to show you the location on the Map Screen and this works without issue.

2. If you’re using an ENB and toggle locations on/off while standing in front of them you may get some weird artifacts as theyappear/disappear, this is normal.

3. If you toggle ‘Disable Fast Travel’ in MCM then immediately try fast travelling on the map screen you may notice it isn’t working properly, this is because you haven’t given the game or papyrus enough time to recognise the change, when you toggle this give it to the count of 5 (only need to do this when you toggle it on) and it should then work without issue unless some other mod is interfering.

4. You can’t toggle the Locations or Destinations for Whiterun, Solitude, Markarth, Riften, Windhelm, Lakeview Manor, Windstad Manor or Heljarchen Hall. This is intended as I don’t want you to disable them, remove BFT then blame me your game is broken, if you find a way to do this it’s completely your fault as it isn’t a supported feature.

5. The Charge For Followers option is no longer showing in MCM, this is due to the number of follower mods out there and them doing their own thing in regards to tracking (or not tracking) how many followers are with you etc, it’s a black hole in terms on compatibility. Adding a slider/multiplier in MCM defeats the purpose as you can adjust pricing anyway, a dialogue option might work but again due to dialogue not being all that dynamic I can only support up to ‘x’ number yet people would likely have ‘y’ number and so it wouldn’t work for them. I’m not going to support or semi support a feature if I can’t get it to work how I originally intended. In saying that though the option is still part of v3.76 as it is something I will personally use as it took me quite a while to get working and works perfectly with Vanilla and 3DNPC followers, if you’d like to use it as well and understand completely that it isn’t a supported feature then in the game console type set bftgimmealltoggles to 42 and open MCM. This in turn will also let you toggle the vanilla carriage locations and destinations (they won’t be greyed out) which I might add again isn’t a supported feature either, if you post anything regarding these in the comments I will just delete them, you’ve been warned. Now with that out of the way if you’d like other follower mods to use this feature too you’ll either need to manually adjust the global variable PlayerFollowerCount yourself or get the mod creator of the follower to add it to their mod (ideally they should be doing this anyway), this feature works fine with anything that modifies the vanilla follower system including UFO, EFF and AFT

COMMENTS

  1. Skyrim:Transport

You can travel much faster on horseback than on foot. You can also ride a horse while overencumbered for normal or fast travel. For complete information see Horses. Carriage . Carriages will carry you between the nine capital cities of each hold in Skyrim for 20-50 gold. They are the fastest means to get to cities which you have not yet ...

  2. Fast travel vs. Carriage? : r/skyrim

Well hiring a carriage costs money,so it does level your Speechcraft a tiny bit everytime you use one. I don't fast travel but will use a carriage to go from one hold to the other if I don't feel like walking myself. I justify it because it is lore-friendly, requires a fee, and can only take you from one city to another.

  3. What's the difference between fast travel and carriage? : r/skyrim

Carriage will take you to any city listed, regardless of if you've been there first. Fast Travel only goes to places you've visited.

  4. Touring Carriages or Better Fast Travel

Better Fast Travel is better (duh, it's in the title). Touring Carriages is only great for the first few rounds or so seeing the carriage move magically from its once stationary position, then you realize how inconvenient and pointless it is and all the bugs and incompatibilities that come along.

  5. Skyrim: How to Use the Carriage

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim makes it harder to explore the map. At the start of the game, it reveals each hold capital, but it doesn't fast travel until after players visit the location in person.

  6. Carriage

Community content is available under CC BY-NC-SA unless otherwise noted. Carriages can be hired as a mode of faster transportation between cities in Skyrim, and unlike Fast Travel, they can be used to reach cities not previously visited. Dawnstar, 50 gold Falkreath, 50 gold Markarth, 20 gold Morthal, 50 gold Riften, 20 gold Solitude, 20 gold ...

  7. Skyrim: Complete Guide To Survival Mode and Camping

In Skyrim Survival Mode fast travel is disabled, meaning that if you want to quickly get around the province, you have to hire a carriage or boat No Health Regeneration Normally, players slowly ...

  8. Fastest way to travel? :: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim General Discussions

The fastest way to travel is by horse using a mod like Convenient Horses. Increase your horses max speed, stamina, and health and you can easily climb mountains and your horse can survive some minor falls. Arvak kind of sucks. He is no better than a stables horse and his stamina doesn't seem to work with Convenient Horses.

  9. Fast Travel (Skyrim)

Fast Travel is a method of travel in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is a way of quickly "teleporting" to any previously discovered location. The travel takes place almost instantaneously in real-world time through a loading screen, but in game time will still pass by as if the Dragonborn had walked there. When using fast travel, the time elapsed may be longer than the time it would have taken ...

  10. Fast Travel :: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim General Discussions

What are your stances on using Fast Travel vs NOT using Fast Travel? On my current playthrough, I made it a rule to myself that no Fast Traveling or peeking at the map. All I can rely on are road signs and the HUD radar for orientation as well as previous knowledge of the location of places and things. It has actually peaked my immersion and interest into the game and I take encounters with ...

  11. What's the best mod for tweaking carriages/fast travel in ...

Better Fast Travel - Carriages and Ships adds a lot of extra carriages to the game, but I'm not sure if it has all the extra features that Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul had, like the extra voice lines and such. ... and sharing mods for Skyrim on the Xbox. Please be sure to read (and follow) the rules of the sub before posting. We hope you ...

  12. the elder scrolls v skyrim

This should be easy to test. Pick up 2 cities. Press tab and check the time, then fast travel to the second town. Check the time again. Mount a horse and then fast travel back to the first town. Check the time again and compare. In TES IV: Oblivion, being mounted on a horse will improve the speed of fast traveling. Ha.

  13. Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul (Formerly Complete Fast Travel

Renamed the mod to Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul Added dialogue options to Klimmek, allowing fast travel to High Hrothgar once the quest "Climb the Steps" is completed Set Klimmek to protected Moved ferry destination marker for Northshore Landing off the main pier Removed requirement to complete "A New Source of Stalhrim" before travelling ...

  14. Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul (Formerly Complete Fast Travel

Kinaga's Carriage & Ferry Travel Overhaul. Realistic, bug-free, functional carriages & ferries. An overhaul of both the vanilla Skyrim carriage system and Dawnguard's ferry system. Designed to make ferries a viable means of travel, make prices realistic based on travel distance and add loads of cut carriage dialogue.

  15. Better Fast Travel

  16. Which carriage/fast travel overhaul? : r/skyrimmods

It's got patches for The Great Cities and Dawn of Skyrim which I use and it is more simplistic and immersive imo. No carriage in winterhold but there is a ferry so you can travel along the coast. But there are ferries in lakes too. 2. RedKomrad.

  17. Wait Carriage in Towns

Wait Carriage in Towns is a lightweight addition to the vanilla carriage system aiming to help the players who disable Fast Travel during their playthrough. ... Now, you can wait for carriages in most towns of Skyrim by activating a bench placed in front of inns. You'll then be able to choose your destination among 3 categories : cities, towns ...

  18. Fast Travel vs Walking Everywhere.. : r/skyrim

Fast Travel vs Walking Everywhere.. As the title explains, I had an argument with a fellow skyrim player of mine, he swears by never using fast travel. He would rather walk anywhere and everywhere, he even goes as far as to use mods for boat travel, and full length carriage rides. He went as far as to call me a scrub, because I occasionally use ...

  19. Better Fast Travel

Greetings, Skyrim SE players! I've finally got permission from one of this mod's creators Dj20 to publish this mod on Nexus! I've ported and tested this mod myself, everything works as it is supposed, you can see it on my screenshots. TRANSLATIONS. A German translation of this mod is now available at Better Fast Travel - Carriages and Ships SE ...

  20. Mods for a "No Fast Travel" Playthrough for SSE : r/skyrimmods

Rather than looking for a mod that disables fast travel, look for a mod that supplants it. Carriage mods are a good start. But if you go look back at a game like Morrowind, keep in mind that it has fast-travel options, it's just that they're not on the map screen, they're diegetic, e.g. silt striders, mage guilds, divine intervention spell, etc.

  21. Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul (Formerly Complete Fast Travel

  22. Getting crashes when traveling by carriage or fast traveling to the

So it happened to me initially when I was traveling by carriage from Solitude to Windhelm, and now it is happening again when I travel by carriage (or fast travel) from Windhelm to Solitude. Everytime I'd arrive at my destination, I'd turn around only to be greeted by a CTD.

  23. More Carriages

Features. Carriages in Dawnstar, Falkreath, Morthal and Winterhold. Expands the carriage dialogue with minor cities and towns as options. Adds Hearthfire homes as option. Works with normal and Hearthfire carriages. Increase prices for carriages (60 for capitals, 90 for towns) Lanterns and canopies for all carriages. Alternate carriage positions.
