3 days of hell!

3 days of hell! No time to visit the sights : 10 minutes for Capitol but on the other hand 30 minutes for a bathroom stop. Guide threatened to leave without my son who was 1! minute late on the bus when running like a maniac trying to get a photo of the capitol in the 10 minutes allocated ! Guide then kept on saying :" I’m trying, really trying to be nice but if people are going to be late".... are you serious ? FYI they were 35 minutes late for pick up on departure day. For lunch you are dropped of at some gas station and diner at a food court that serves Asian food exclusively. I guess someone complained being tired of Chinese food because the guide promised no Chinese on 3rd night but he had to make it clear we had no right to complain as this was a Chinese tour so.... what the hell ? DO NOT SELL THIS TOUR TO NON CHINESE THEN!!!!!!! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS TOUR. RUBBISH INTINERARY AND RUDE GUIDE!

Taketours Review

We took a 3-Day San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Yosemite Tour from Los Angeles and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Our tour guide is Will Chen who spoke limited English but friendly. First of all, this tour is definitely not for non-Chinese speaking folks. There was a lot of conversations in Chinese on the bus. On top of that, our 3 young kids along with other kids on the tour had to put up with an R-rated movie, "The Rock" that was showing on the bus with very strong violence, constant threat, some really intense stuff, and many many "F" words thru out the entire movie. The entire tour is very much like a fire drill. You would have to spend most of your time on the bus and only get a few minutes at each destination just enough for taking pictures. We finished visiting SF around 4:30 pm on the 2nd day and was supposed to get to our hotel in Modesto around 7pm for dinner. However, we didn't get to Clarion Hotel in Modesto until past 9pm due to traffic. By the time we were done with dinner and shower, it was almost mid-night. Then they woke us up @ 5am the next morning to start our day again. The hotel accommodations were just 1-2 star motels. Last but not least, the actual cost of the tour would be a lot more including additional fees for what's called "optional tours" such as SF tour and some other tours that you're either take them or else you're basically stuck in the bus or have to wait for the other folks to finish their optional tours.

We loved it!!!

I took take tours bus trip to visit SFO, Yosemite, Vegas and Grand canyon back in July with my family(Indian). I have 2 kids age 9 & 5. I booked three months in advance and it cost me only $1050 for the whole family for the travel and accommodation(attraction tickets, food etc extra) which is very cheap. They plan it so well so that we can cover all the places. Of course its bilingual and the guide might speak more in Chinese but they will talk in English as well and I never had any problem. They will start the trip very early in the morning because that is required for you to cover all the places in a timely manner. So if you are some body whose primary preference is to cover places with less hassle, then go for it. But if you want to rest/relax more and is not particular about covering places, then this is not for you. They stop in plaza's for food where you will find different options. There were couple of instances where the A/C was low and people were complaining. Other than that we liked this.

TOO TOO BAD! SCAMMERS! BE WARE! PLUS THEY NEVER ANSWER THEIR PHONES!

TOO TOO BAD! SCAMMERS! BE WARE! PLUS THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONES, KEPT CALLING ALL DAY LONG WITH NOTHING BUT WAITING TO SPEAK TO A REAL PERSON!! The worst ever experience with a tour company! they're cheating people! I booked the trip online and my credit card was charged in USD instantaneously while my credit card company (like many other credit card companies) ripped me off straight away in currency conversation for overseas purchases! In a few hours I get an email from this company saying that the tour I purchased is no longer available and instead offered me another tour on a different date but double the price! so basically this is how these guys rip you off, they show you something online and tell you something else to buy at a higher price!! on my argument, they offered me to refund my money which too was a double whammy for me since on the refund my credit card company ripped me off one more time in currency conversion. So in a nutshell, I simply got charged for nothing but only currency conversion twice for a service that I never availed!! They should offer online only what they have to sell and charge the customer only if it is accepted not something else at an outrageous price, refunding money is not a solution for a customer like me who just paid twice at purchase and at refund for no service received!!

This company gets very bad reviews

This company gets very bad reviews, as a general rule, so we were a bit concerned. Firstly, we did a 6 day Pearl Harbour, Big Island and Maui Tour and generally the tour ran as advertised. The guides were on time and sometimes early, one had very poor English (almost not understandable) but the other 2 guides were excellent. The hotels were as advertised and adequate (we dont like spending extra money on hotels given the Australian exchange rate) The biggest issue was poor communication. Before booking I tried to get more information and despite sending emails and even phoning, I was unable to get any useful reply. The itinerary as advertised changed 3 times (not that it really mattered), except we were had to stay on an extra day as they couldn't tell us when our final flight from one island would arrive back in Honolulu - and as that was the day we would fly home - that posed a risk. On the first day, we were not told when the guide would pick us up - so had to phone the emergency contact number and found it was 0615. Just as well we rang! Overall, we were okay with the tour. Just be aware it is an online Chinese company catering primarily to the Chinese ,, but we had 1/2 and 1/2 on all our trips which was nice.

1 star: Bad – unacceptable experience

TakeTours.com only post positive reviews on its site. I wrote a negative review of 1-Day Amazing New York City TourTour Code: 542-377, and it was never posted by TakeTours.com, so I'm posting it here. This 1-Day Amazing New York City TourTour Code: 542-377 tour service was provided by Harmony Travel, our tour guide's name was Yongsheng (Steve) Zhang, and we do not recommend him at all. We were supposed to be picked up at 7:00 am on 133-43 37th Ave in Flushing, but our tour guide changed its location in the last minute. We booked this tour for $50 to cover two tourists. During the tour, we also paid another $20 services fee/tips to our tour guide along with two mandatory general admission tickets for two of our chosen attractions. After we finished our second attraction in Manhattan, our tour guide left us all by ourselves to take the subway back to Flushing on our own because we were 15 minutes late to meet him at the pickup spot. Tour guide expects and demands a $10 services fee/tips per person in addition to the cost of this 1-day tour regardless its poor quality of service provided by the tour guide, so later we realized that we probably should have paid such additional services fee/tips at the end of the tour to ensure our guaranteed transportation back to Flushing. We felt we were ripped off by this tour guide with his poor quality of service, very unprofessional, overrated, overpriced, and it is definitely the worst touring experience ever. His action of leaving us behind deserves $0 in services fee/tips. Please avoid him.

Niagara Falls tour

Hi all This is a very important information that we like to share with all of you. We took a tour to Niagara Falls and return via Washington DC . It was the most unexpectable experience which we had. Really they are cheating. They have hidden charges after the tour fees and it’ll appear only when you booked and taking print. It is all Chinese tour guides and half of the explanation cannot understand. They just making you run and no proper rest at all. Squeezed the time maximum in the bus and hotels are not good. Came to the hotel at 9 pm and return back at 6:30 am. No breakfast and no time to have it or no time to pick anything. All of the attractions each not more than 10 mnts. Only Niagara Falls left us nearly 1 hr and 40 mnts. And hotel is far away like 30 mnts drive. Kids had bad time because of tiredness and I was totally out of mind what to make them for meals. And no facility of much food options.

Really bad. Booked a day-tour from San Francisco and it was awful. Chinese driver who spoke bad english would rather speak chinese all the time with the other chinese tourists in the car, who by the way, talked ALL THE TIME. No quiet time in the car. The time/tour was also poorly planned all the way. I wrote a bad review twice of my tour on taketour's website but they never published it.

The worst tour ever

The worst tour ever. Our tour guide, Winter Zhang, is really rude and bossy. He has no manner at all. He threw our hotel key to our faces and made us pick it up from the floor. We were just few steps away from him, he could wait and let us go and take it from him if he doesn’t want to walk toward us. He is also unhelpful and not friendly. He made that annoy face when we asked him for question when we are not clear. Really the worst trip i ever joined. The tour also collect extra fee. The entrance fees are cheaper if you buy it yourself. They also forcefully asking for money for the Saint Joseph’s Oratory (it’s actually free). Don’t join this tour or you’ll regret

Boston 1 day tour with Taketours.com

I purchased the Boston 1 day tour because they seemed to be the only available tour mid May. I understood that there were extra fees so I was well prepared. The tour started later than advertised and ended at 3 which was way earlier than expected. I was dropped off at MIT I believe to kill time because it was not part of the stop. The lobster meal was removed and the stop at the aquarium was also removed. The tour guide had this awful mannerism when he was upset. He would smack his lips. I didn't care to hear it. The tour guide thought I was content with my tour experience that I got an email as6me yo review the tour. There wasn't much that was great about the tour and the company hasn't bothered to post the review. I thought I was odd that this company hadn't had a review of any kind posted for a couple more years. Now I know why. They seem like be extremely selective with the ones they post. I wouldn't use this company ever again. The mention of the company using mini buses with restrooms. It's a laugh now. They picked me up in a minivan!

Worst tour of my life! Completely disappointing.

Worst tour of my life. Tour guide lady Rebecca was rude. She kept marketing shows of Las Vegas. We were four people. Grand Canyon was 10 hours (5 hours each way ) drive in a very uncomfortable bus. Myparents visiting from India were interested doing skywalk. So we took package with west rim. I specifically asked the guide to put me on sky walk tour. But she sent us on south rim. Half of the bus had complains. They dropped us on a far away location where another shuttle came after 45 minutes. Hotel rooms had nothing only a view of roof top equipments of It’s own from window. They ingnore every one who is not Chinese. They avoid making even eye contact. Never ever go with any Chinese tours or send your guests. Called their customer service but couldn’t get hold of anyone in hour and a half. They collect 9 dollars service fee every day of tour. Which I had to pay for my 3 year old son too every day. Drivers were nice. That was the only good part.

Bad hotels locations, Chinese restaurants, tight itinerary, improper management

The 3-day tour to San Fransisco is not recommended at all as the LA to SFO distance is high, and you spend two full tiring days to and fro in the journey. They took us to Stanford University at 6 in the morning when it was still dark and everyone was sleeping. No point seeing an university like that. There is only one organizer per van/bus, who generally are very busy. There is no one to answer basic questions/queries. I took the 7-day tour to SFO and Vegas from LA, Our day 2 itinerary was to go to Vegas. We got ready, sat in the car. We started driving and they tell us we are doing SFO first. We said that we were not informed about this, but the guide knew nothing about it. There is no one place / manger to call, help or complain. They start the day early morning at 5 or 6. You need to be ready by then, all packed as you will have to check out and be in the van/bus. This made us feel tired and sleepy throughout the day. The tour is more preferable for Chinese people as they only stop at Chinese restaurants. If you don’t like Chinese food, you have to survive on vending machine food. The stop at hotels which is generally very far from the city , at outskirts where you cannot step out or even get decent dinner.

We booked a two day tour to New YorK and it was not worth it with this company

We booked a two day tour to New York from Boston. This tour was a nightmare to navigate. First there was little communication about the tour other than what was on the website. They would not tell you what hotel you were going to stay at until the evening of the first night. The hotel we stayed at was 1 1/2 hours away from New York in New Jersey. It did not include the breakfast, you had to pay an additional $7.00 for a cold breakfast. The bus we took from Boston was a public bus that dropped us off at the East-West bus station in China Town. On the return bus trip from New York to Boston they did not drop us off at the same place they picked us up at. We had to walk 3 blocks in the middle of China town at midnight and they could not give us directions to the original bus stop. This tour company caters to the Asian market and they were not concerned about us caucasians. The only thing I can say positive about my experience booking through Taketours.com is I learned not to use this company again.

Big disappointed

Big disappointed, the Antelope Canyon tour on the second day was cancelled because of a road interruptions due to bad weather, as a result we spent the whole day sitting on the bus. I understand this was not a company's fault, but as a result, we have spent so much money for wasting a day of our holiday in such boring way. And still, we should have to pay again to finally going to see the Antelope Canyon? I think as a minimum the company should have at least offer to us the possibility to join the following tour for free or at a lower cost but they denied it. Once they got the money in their pocked obviously they don't care about the experience of their customers. Also, on their website they ban negative review, they just post the few positive ones. I will not book a tour with this company anymore and not recommend to anyone! UPDATE: Thank you for your reply, I have been in touch with your support service just after the tour but they did not reply to my last email. And again I understand that the weather condition and road interruption are not under your control but still, you let me paid for a service that I did not receive( going to see the Antelope Canyon), so it would be your responsibility to find an alternative solution to this.

Worst experience

Worst experience. We opted for a 2 day Niagara falls trip from new Jersey and I would say we had the worst experience ever. Tour guide was very rude and was only bothered about collecting money. One of the best part is they left us in Buffalo hotel next morning without even having a basic courtesy to call and enquire where we are. We called the tour guide thrice and she never picked up the phone. We saw another elderly couple who were also with us were searching for the bus. When they tried calling the tour guide again, she never replied for the call. We were fully lost and frustrated. When we gave a last try she picked up the phone and asked us to take a cab and come to Niagara falls. We spent extra 40$ from our Pocket. When we reached Niagara falls, she didn't even bother to reply us. They also charge a service fee of 32$ for the tour guide and Driver that we have to pay in cash. They took us to one of the walking trails which is actually free but they charge 10$ for tht.I will never recommend this tour to anyone else.

Date of experience : October 26, 2017

It was a good experience overall.

This tour was operated by a Chinese company/bus. The tour itself was well executed. I had taken up Niagara falls tour from NewYork city and the fact you don't have to drive is a blessing! Though the overall experience is good, they make you pay for a lot of things that are not apparent at the beginning. Things like, Hey we want to show you something. If you are interested to join pay us $30/person guide fee. If you don't want to pay, you just need to sit in the bus while everyone is out there. These things were not worth it because it was more like showing something that doesn't even have a entry ticket. The feeling of sitting in the bus waiting for everyone to finish the trip isn't great either. So you end up paying! They definitely need to up the hygiene of the bathroom in the bus. I understand that its a toilet in the bus and can't expect it to be great but this definitely needed an improvement. MOST IMPORTANT POINT : After taking this tour the amount of Chinese robo calls increased. The fact that I never used to receive chinese calls before this trip and sudden influx of these was a clear indication that they sold my phone number to these telemarketing companies!

I booked a tour with them last minute( 1 day before the tour), but did not receive the confirmation or Eticket. I wasn't able to login to my account and had to recreate another account which was strange. I contacted the customer support about this issue, and I was told to contact 'BIG BUS TOUR' customer support. I waited till morning, 5-6 am, but still, no confirmation, It was raining, so I thought there was no tour at all, and that is why I did not receive the confirmation, but still, they shouldn't have allowed me to book the tour for that day. i tried to contact customer service by chat, email and phone, which was a terrible experience. limited English proficiency, and no one seemed to understand what I was asking, and no one was of help. They sent me confirmation at 6 am, 1 hour before the tour would leave from the pick up point and I didn't have time to get there anymore. They refused to refund me, and I have been trying to reach out the manager, but I have not been able to. No customer service, and their website seems to be having issues with accounts or confirmations. Totally waste of time and money and peace of mind. Me and my friends wanted to go on their other tours, but will never do that anymore.

Choose other company if you want to travel

This is a expensive third company and a lair. They tried to make money in a very ridiculous and ugly way. I would like to give 0 star if there is the option. I booked the upper antelope tour, and they provided the wrong address. It took us 30 min to finally find the place, they refused us to go for the tour because we did not arrive 1 hour prior to the tour time (only because we took time to find the place!). They also refused to reschedule to a later time by saying there is no ticket. They refused to refund us with a very bad attitude. We tried to call the number they left on the website, and no one ever picked up. So we repurchased the ticket, which proved they are lying about the ticket situation. The ticket at the upper antelope is 18 dollars cheaper than them per person and they did have the one hour time requirement. Ok, fine, we take that. While we finally about to go for the tour, the worse thing happened. They realized we purchased the ticket and might dispute for theirs, they ask the employee at the upper antelope to deny our entry. And we bought the ticket!!!! I can't believe how ridiculous it is!!! They don't let us go to the tour, and they manipulate the other company so we can't go to the tour at all.

I'm a native San Francisco guy who has been given tours since I was a kid. As an adult, I'm always learning more about San Francisco. How can one love a city and its people if you don't know it? Though it's not my vocation, I've been privately asked by tour companies and many groups to give tours (mainly for students and non-tourists), and have done so for over a thousand people. All that to say, I'm steeped in San Francisco more than the average person taking a tour. I believe in constantly learning about San Francisco and occasionally take tours myself. I took two tours, the Castro, and the Haight, with Mar leading each of them. She was clearly visible and identifiable. She clearly was very knowledgeable, as most tour guides are. But more than that, like a good song, she made the tour her own. I could tell she invested herself into the stories and facts; Mar drew me in. The tours were not just a bunch of random facts and sound bites. Speaking about sound bites, I loved how MAr integrated music into her Haight tour. I noted her bluetooth speaker and inquired if that was "standard issue." Turns out she invested in her own weatherproof model so her tours would not be affected by the rain. The best part apart the tours was being led by someone who is secure in who they are. That's who MAr is, and that made all the difference. I knew a lot of things in San Francisco. When we played "name that tune" in the Haight, I knew the songs within a couple notes, but none of this phased MAr. It could make others feel insecure. in the end, I was able to learn so much more about these two San Francisco neighborhoods and their people. I learned about many more facets of beauty. As guy who regularly gets asked to do tours myself, I'm so glad I got to take the "tourist" seat with Mar. Walking is the best way for these neighborhood tours, to see, smell, and feel the stories of humanity. So glad I got to walk these two hoods with Mar! She's been the warmest, most personable guide I've ever had. -- Steve

Photo of devin s.

Since I don't have a yelp account (yeap, some of us don't) I asked my brother-in-law if I could use his to post this review since he came on the tour with us anyway! ;-) My husband and I had a wonderful time on the "Walks Tour". Since we were in SF for one day, we selected two tours that worked around our visit. The site was easy to use and descriptions of the tours helped with making the arrangements easy. Both the tours we went on were conducted by Mar. Mar was super enthusiastic and full of information as we walked through the Haight Ashbury neighborhood, feeding us tidbits of information as we walked and chatted about the 60's and what an impact that era had on the city. I love that time period, especially the music, and as we walked we listened to that history and saw the houses that some of these legends lived in. The next tour took us through the Mission District were Mar gave descriptive insight to the beautiful murals that are on every corner and every alley; I enjoyed her passion and knowledge that she shared. Eating your way through SF is something I always do, so this was a great tour for me, the food was fabulous and the whole experience makes you want to come back for more! Walking through the neighborhoods is also very satisfying, you are doing something healthy, it gets you involved; Mar was also great at pulling you in and involving you in her tour. I would and have recommended these tours to others; by the way, ask for Mar and you'll have a GREAT time! Enjoy. CS Santa Cruz, CA

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .

Worst trip ever. Total hours spent on attractions/vacation on this 3 day tour was 10.42 hour (excluding food time). This is an extremely unfair/disappointing amount. I felt the trip was very rushed and last day was a complete waste. I was very disappointed with the service provided.
