Rock City World Tour Camp

Our music camps for kids let young campers explore their musical talents! Filled with fun, creativity, and group activities, Rock City World Tour Camp is a great way to introduce children to music.

In Rock City, kids learn about core musical concepts, like loud and soft, fast and slow, and high and low notes. Each concept is linked to a children’s story and instrument. This way, campers can learn these concepts and discover different types of instruments through the power of story!

Rock City storytime also includes fun, movement-based activities. This allows campers to express themselves through music and dance.

Our kids music camps expose campers to a wide range of instruments. Over the course of Rock City, kids are introduced to instruments like the hand-drum, recorder, and keyboard. At the same time, campers learn fundamental skills that prepare them for future music lessons.

Bach to Rock ® music camps for kids also tap into a number of key early childhood skills. Through Rock City, young campers can build skills like counting, pattern recognition, hand-eye coordination, social skills, and auditory awareness. Plus, kids can have fun, make friends, and unlock their inner musician!

Become a Better Musician

Individual mentoring combined with several hours a day of group instruction helps students fine-tune their playing ability. Our unique Caz curriculum produces exceptional results for students year in and year out.

Musicians participate in Orchestra, Concert Band or Jazz Ensemble. Led by a new guest conductor each week, campers rehearse twice, two to three times a day for 60-90 minutes preparing for their final performance. While some initially doubt they’ll be able to master the repertoire, students discover they are capable of rising to the challenge!

Michael Daves

Chris Thile’s Laysongs is his first truly solo album: It’s just Thile, his voice, and his mandolin, on a set of nine new tracks, combining original songs with three wisely chosen covers that contextualize and banter with his ideas. While Thile’s critically lauded interpretations of Bach on mandolin (2013’s Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 1) also showcased him on his own, that was a kind of duet, a dialogue between Thile and his beloved J.S. Bach. Laysongs, on the other hand, is more of a soliloquy, and it’s very much a soul-searching one. Thile confronts, cajoles, and cozies up to his personal—and our shared—angels and demons, an effort made more poignant, dramatic, and universal by the enforced isolation of the pandemic.

At the heart of the album is a three-part piece, “Salt (in the Wounds) of the Earth,” that Thile premiered during a fall 2018 composer’s residency at Carnegie Hall. It was, he’s noted, “the first (and so far only) music I’ve made specifically to perform alone, which felt like an opportunity to sing some words that it wouldn’t necessarily be fair to put in a collaborator’s mouth.” Little did Thile know he was merely at the start of what would become a solitary adventure, professionally and, lord knows, philosophically.

Thile had been inspired to write “Salt” after revisiting C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters—a satirical collection of letters from a senior demon to his apprentice—during a long-haul plane trip. The novel cleverly addresses temptation and the undermining of faith. In each movement of “Salt,” Thile plays a variation on a devil’s advocate, nurturing superiority complexes in believers and non-believers alike, with a targeted spiritual disinformation campaign. Thile’s performance is broad and full of mischief, and his playing is just as lively, but there’s a gravity to the questions he poses that lays the foundation for the rest of Laysongs.

Thile played part one of “Salt” during a December 2018 episode of his public radio show, Live from Here, broadcast from Manhattan’s The Town Hall. It was a memorable installment that also featured Thile and his stellar house band performing Randy Newman’s “God’s Song” and Regina Spektor’s “Laughing With.” Thile had built the evening around questions of faith, or the lack thereof, responding to the mixed spiritual and secular messages he’d been encountering on the streets of New York City during the holiday season.

Nonesuch Chairman Emeritus Robert Hurwitz was in attendance and, afterwards, he came backstage to encourage Thile to elaborate further on these ruminations. He saw the makings of an album that could tap into Thile’s own experiences of being raised in a Christian household, an early life that Thile regards with equanimity, not rancor. As he explains, “Bob said, ‘Man, you should do a God-themed record of some kind, it’s all over your work. I was touched that Bob had that suggestion. It is a lifelong obsession of mine, even post-Christianity, what the impact of that kind of devotion to any organized religion is, the extent to which it can be a force for good or for bad. It has probably woven itself through all the work I’ve ever made. And it’s true of so many of the people I make music with, who grew up singing in church—starting with Sean and Sara Watkins [his Nickel Creek bandmates].”

Throughout 2019, however, Thile had to keep his traveling radio show rolling. It wasn’t until the world went into COVID lockdown in the spring of 2020 and Live from Here ended its run that he seriously began to contemplate this idea. Again, Hurwitz supplied a nudge, encouraging him to “make a snapshot of your experience of the pandemic.” Soul-searching was becoming, for many, a daily routine:

I was coming out of the most intense creative period of my life, when all of a sudden, for the first time in a long time, I had a moment to think and dream a little—and I wondered, ‘If I made something, what would it be?’

With Laysongs, Thile had to explore that question, of necessity, completely on his own, which somehow seems fitting: What better way to wrestle with one’s thoughts? Metaphorical isolation had become all too real. But Thile, as a songwriter and performer, is an amiable agnostic, even in these trying times. Rather than weighing him down, this period in the epistemological wilderness has lifted him up.

Thile takes a playfully discursive path on this journey toward earthbound salvation. He allows the listener to connect the dots along the way, to figure out how a song about Dionysus, for example, or a virtuosic performance of the fourth movement of Béla Bartók’s Sonata for Solo Violin, may fit into his plan. “Ecclesiastes 2:24” has no lyrics and may require a brief visit to the Old Testament to see what Thile has up his sleeve. He does offer a clue: “Ecclesiastes 2:24 is one of the bible verses that resonates most with me. It’s good for a person to eat and drink and take satisfaction in their work. And it foreshadows ‘Dionysus.’ “

“God Is Alive, Magic Is Afoot” is based on Buffy Sainte-Marie’s psychedelic adaptation of a Leonard Cohen poem from her 1969 album, Illuminations. Thile discovered it while researching Sainte-Marie for a Live from Here birthday tribute. He honors its incantatory spirit before launching into the intense and at times rollicking “Salt (in the Wounds) of the Earth.” He says, “Covering other people’s material is an opportunity to jam or have a soirée with the likes of Leonard Cohen, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Hazel Dickens, and Béla Bartók. It was important to me to interact with other artist’s perspectives on this topic while I explored it.”

Though Thile often performs works from the classical canon, including his aforementioned forays into Bach an arrangement of the Passepied from Claude Debussy’s “Suite Bergamasque” with his fellow Punch Brothers (on The Phosphorescent Blues), he’d never approached Bartók, whose work he calls “the biggest influence on me that I hadn’t yet attempted to perform.” But Thile found the perfect—and perfectly provocative—spot for Bartok’s sonata on Laysongs. As he says: “It’s the furthest afield from the theme, but there is something so infernal about it. After ‘Salt (in the Wounds) of the Earth,’ one might expect something light, some sort of exhale. Instead, we launch immediately into the fourth movement of the Bartók. It’s as if one of the demons in ‘Salt’ stole my mandolin and started playing.”

Thile had the makings of an album, it turned out, well before he embarked on the actual recording of it. All it took was tying together these various threads from his writing and his research. Helping him put it together was his wife, the accomplished actor Claire Coffee, who’d long been his unofficial sounding board and now serves as his co-producer: “I’ve leaned on Claire’s opinions ever since we met. She has incredible taste and narrative intuition. She was able to help me weave the original and non-original material together into what you’re hearing.”

By the summer of 2020, Thile, Coffee, and their son Calvin had relocated to a rental house in Hudson, NY, a haven for urban expats, as they waited for pandemic-delayed renovations to be completed on their Brooklyn home. In what might have been a bit of divine intervention, they found a recording studio, Future-Past, that was housed in an old church right in the center of town.

“I went in there to look at the space and instantly felt so at home,” Thile recalls. “I loved the amount of sound around the sound. I had two sonic collaborators on this record: the tremendous engineer Jody Elff and that church.”

He continues, “It was so easy for me to stay in character because of where we were. Every hour or so I would take a stroll around the church and let the stained-glass windows transport me back to the last church I attended regularly, Grace Cathedral at the top of Nob Hill in San Francisco.”

Thile realizes—and illustrates in these songs—that the greatest spiritual sustenance comes from communion with others, in breaking bread, sharing wine, and, above all, singing together. The final track on Laysongs, a cover of bluegrass legend Hazel Dickens’ “Won’t You Come Sing for Me,” serves as secular recessional hymn. As he notes, “There is no worship of a deity in that song; it’s very much a plea to your close friends, a plea for fellowship.”

By summer 2020, Thile reveals, “I was more than ever before craving that thing—singing with people, making music with people, but particularly that very selfless kind of music making that happens in church. At best you aren’t thinking about yourself or even about the people you’re making music with. You’re all just doing it together and it’s about something else. It’s really beautiful. And it’s maybe the only thing about organized religion that I miss.”

As a member of Punch Brothers since the band’s inception, guitarist Chris Eldridge has been at the vanguard of acoustic music for over a decade. Although initially drawn to the electric guitar, by his mid-teens Chris Eldridge had developed a deep love for acoustic music, thanks in part to his father, Ben, a banjo player and founding member of the seminal bluegrass group The Seldom Scene. Eldridge later gained in-depth exposure to a variety of different musical styles while studying at Oberlin Conservatory, where he earned a degree in music performance in 2004. During his time at Oberlin, Eldridge studied with legendary guitarist Tony Rice.

After graduating he joined the Seldom Scene with whom he received a Grammy nomination in 2007. In 2005 he founded the critically acclaimed bluegrass band The Infamous Stringdusters. At the 2007 International Bluegrass Music Association awards Eldridge and his Stringdusters bandmates won Emerging artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year for their debut album, Fork in the Road.

Meanwhile, in 2005 he had caught the attention of mandolinist Chris Thile, who enlisted him, along with banjoist Noam Pikelny, violinist Gabe Witcher, bassist Greg Garrison (and later, bassist Paul Kowert) to start working on an ambitious side project. Soon after they decided to focus all of their collective energies into band and Punch Brothers was born. The band has since released 6 critically acclaimed albums, won a Grammy for Best Folk Album in 2018 and toured the world.

Eldridge also plays in a duo with guitarist Julian Lage. They have released 2 full length records and an EP. Their most recent, Mount Royal, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album in 2017.

In addition, Chris Eldridge has worked with a diverse cast of musical luminaries including Paul Simon, Renée Fleming, John Paul Jones, Marcus Mumford, Justin Timberlake, T-Bone Burnett, Jon Brion, Fiona Apple, The War and Treaty, Jerry Douglas, I’m With Her, and Del McCoury.

In 2019, Eldridge was named Instrumentalist of the Year by the Americana Music Association.

Eldridge was the house guitarist on the public radio show, Live From Here (formerly known as A Prairie Home Companion), from 2016-2020. He is currently Visiting Associate Professor of Contemporary American Acoustic Music at Oberlin College.

Brittany Haas is widely regarded as one of the most influential fiddlers of her generation. Born in Northern California, Brittany grew up honing her craft at string camps nationwide, and developed her unique style of fiddling at the influence of her mentors, Bruce Molsky and Darol Anger. A prodigious youth, Haas began touring with Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings at the age of fourteen. At seventeen, she released her debut, self-titled solo album (produced by Anger). Haas continued to tour and record while simultaneously earning a degree in Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University (where she also minored in Music Performance). It was during her time at Princeton that Brittany was asked to join the seminal “chamber-grass” band Crooked Still, with whom she has made four recordings and toured the world.

Haas has always been a much sought-after collaborator and session musician. She has performed on Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live as part of Steve Martin’s bluegrass band, and features on Martin’s Grammy-winning album “The Crow: New Songs for the 5-String Banjo.” Over the years, she has performed with Bela Fleck, Abigail Washburn, Tony Trischka, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Waybacks, Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas (her cellist sister), and more.

Now residing in Nashville, TN, Brittany is currently involved in many exciting projects. In January of 2020, her quartet Hawktail (formerly Haas Kowert Tice, featuring bassist Paul Kowert of Punch Brothers, guitarist Jordan Tice, and mandolinist Dominick Leslie) released their follow-up album to 2018’s “Unless.” They continue to tour around the country with their original material. In 2015, Haas began touring with the Dave Rawlings Machine (featuring Gillian Welch) and can be found on their latest releases “Nashville Obsolete” and “Poor David’s Almanack.” In the fall of 2016, Haas began performing as part of the house band for Live From Here (formerly known as ‘A Prairie Home Companion’) hosted by Chris Thile. Brittany also continues to collaborate with her cellist sister Natalie Haas, Quebecois guitarist Yann Falquet, master Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser, Swedish fiddler Lena Jonsson, and percussive dancer Nic Gareiss.

In addition to her work as a performer, Haas is an instructor at various string and fiddle camps across the globe, sharing her knowledge and passion in hopes of inspiring the next generation of fiddle players.

Paul Kowert is an American bassist and composer. His styles include classical, bluegrass, and progressive bluegrass. He is a member of the progressive acoustic quintet Punch Brothers and a founding member of Hawktail, an acoustic supergroup composed of Kowert, fiddler Brittany Haas, guitarist Jordan Tice, and mandolinist Dominick Leslie.

Kowert grew up in Middleton, Wisconsin. He transitioned to playing bass from violin at age 9. He studied under Edgar Meyer at the Curtis Institute of Music, graduating in 2009. While still pursuing his degree at Curtis, Kowert was recruited to join Punch Brothers. Though Kowert remains the only non-founding member of the ensemble, his arrival in Punch Brothers has been cited as the seminal moment in the band’s artistic formation. As bandmate Chris Thile recalls, “that’s when the band really became a band.”

NOAM PIKELNY has emerged as the preeminent banjoist of his generation. He is a founding member of Punch Brothers, a 3-time Grammy Nominee and was awarded the first annual Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass in 2010. Universal Favorite is the fourth record Noam Pikelny has released under his own name, but it’s truly his solo debut. His previous solo efforts—including 2014’s landmark Noam Pikelny Plays Kenny Baker Plays Bill Monroe—were full-band affairs that revealed his abilities as a dynamic bandleader while reinforcing his reputation as an inventive accompanist. The new release features only the man himself, playing lovely originals and covers that showcase his unique approach to the instrument and compositional flair. He recorded them live in the studio without accompaniment, coaxing a wide array of sounds and colors out of his instruments, embracing the challenges and exploring the new possibilities of the solo setting. And, for the first time in his career, Pikelny even sings. It turns out he has a striking deadpan baritone that conveys humor and melancholy in equal measure. This album, he says, “is the most personal statement I’ve put forward. The setting couldn’t be more stark and I think it lays bare my musical core. Most importantly, it’s an incredibly honest solo album, in that there are honestly no other people on this record other than me.“

Louis Cato is a Grammy-nominated and internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter. He has worked with an array of artists including Bobby McFerrin, Snarky Puppy, Jon Batiste, Q-Tip and A Tribe Called Quest.

His love of music started at age 2 when the purchase of his first drum set evolved into an appreciation of the southern gospel from his native North Carolina and continued into his education at the Berklee College of Music.

Cato has an undeniable ability to craft sonic landscapes into timeless masterpieces. After two decades of lending his talents to other projects, Cato released his first solo record STARTING NOW (2017), which he also mixed and produced entirely by himself. He is currently in post production on his newest album which is due out in the coming year.

After playing in the house band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert since the show’s 2015 inception, Cato was recently named bandleader for the newly renamed “The Late Show Band.”

In her first 25 years alone, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Sierra Hull hit more milestones than many musicians accomplish in a lifetime. After making her Grand Ole Opry debut at the age of 10, the Tennessee-bred virtuoso mandolinist played Carnegie Hall at age 12, then landed a deal with Rounder Records just a year later. Now 28-years-old, Hull is set to deliver her fourth full- length for Rounder: an elegantly inventive and endlessly captivating album called 25 Trips.

Revealing her profound warmth as a storyteller, 25 Trips finds Hull shedding light on the beauty and chaos and sometimes sorrow of growing up and getting older. To that end, the album’s title nods to a particularly momentous year of her life, including her marriage to fellow bluegrass musician Justin Moses and the release of her widely acclaimed album Weighted Mind—a Béla Fleck- produced effort nominated for Best Folk Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards.

“There’s a lot of push-and-pull on this record, where in some moments I feel like everything’s happening so fast and I wish I could slow it all down so I can really enjoy it,” Hull points out. “But then there are also times where I’m looking forward to the day when the craziness has died down a bit, and life’s a little calmer.”

Made with producer/engineer Shani Gandhi (Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Sarah Jarosz, Alison Krauss), 25 Trips continues the musical journey begun on Weighted Mind, a body of work that built off Hull’s bluegrass roots and ventured into entirely new terrain. But while its predecessor assumed a sparse and stripped-back palette, 25 Trips embodies a far more intricately arranged sound—an effect achieved with the help of peers like guitarist Mike Seal, bassist Ethan Jodziewicz, violinist Alex Hargreaves, and fiddler Christian Sedelmyer, as well as several musicians that Hull has long admired (including bassist Viktor Krauss, guitarist Bryan Sutton, and multi-instrumentalist Stuart Duncan). Along with integrating electric instrumentation and percussion into her material for the first time, Hull dreamed up the album’s eclectic textures by embracing a free-flowing process that often gave way to lightning-in-a-bottle improvisation.

“There were some songs that we created from the ground up, where I’d go in and play by myself, and from there we’d bring in other musicians to add more and more layers,” Hull says. “It was really wonderful to work that way, where we started from a place of mystery and then just let the song show us what it wanted or needed to become.”

Immediately proving the power of that approach, 25 Trips lures the listener into its unpredictable sonic world on the beguiling opening track “Beautifully Out of Place.” With its shifting tempos and gently tempestuous mood, the song was sparked from words of encouragement spoken by Hull’s husband at a time of self-doubt and confusion. “I remember Justin saying to me, ‘I believe in you, so you’re just going to have to learn to believe in yourself,’” she recalls. “That inspired the first line for me, and the song just wrote itself from there.”

Although much of the album bears a rich complexity, 25 Trips also includes moments of stark simplicity that perfectly showcase Hull’s stunning vocal range. On “Everybody’s Talking,” for instance, her luminous vocals quietly capture the frustration of finding clarity in the midst of constant chatter from the outside world. And on “Ceiling to the Floor”—co-written with Kai Welch, a songwriter/musician known for his work with Glen Campbell and Abigail Washburn—Hull spins a tender metaphor from her longtime fear of heights. “I was telling Kai about how when I was little my dad used to try to get me over that fear by holding me up to the ceiling and saying, ‘Just touch it—I’m not gonna let you fall,’” she explains. Featuring a performance from legendary steel-guitar player Paul Franklin, “Ceiling to the Floor” drifts from memory to real-time reflection, slowly unfolding as a nuanced meditation on courage and love.

One of the most unexpected turns on 25 Trips, “Escape” emerges as a delicate collage of hypnotic percussion, otherworldly electric-mandolin tones, and poetic yet plainspoken lyrics (e.g., “I want to escape to a world that’s not closing in”). “I didn’t even have that song on my list for the album, but I played Shani a voice memo and right away she said, ‘I wanna record that,’” remembers Hull, who penned “Escape” with singer/songwriter Angel Snow. “I was a little hesitant since it’s so unlike anything else I’ve done, but in the end it was really exciting to play electric and come up with something in a completely different vein.”

In closing out 25 Trips, Hull shares an especially poignant track titled “Father Time.” “I wrote that song with Mindy Smith after spending a week with my husband and his grandma, after his grandpa had a stroke on Christmas morning,” she says. “His grandma had suffered with Alzheimer’s for years and couldn’t really stay by herself, and through that experience I decided to write about watching my husband take such good care of her, and how that made me love him even more.” With its heavy-hearted melody and choir-like harmonies, “Father Time” shows Hull’s effortless finesse in embedding her music with so many subtle details (including an instrumental reference to “Jingle Bells” tucked into the second verse). “We had our instruments with us at Christmas, so at some point we played ‘Jingle Bells’ for my husband’s grandma,” says Hull. “She can’t remember my name or Justin’s name now, but for some reason ‘Jingle Bells’ stuck, and she still asks for it year- round—it’s the most amazing thing.”

Even as its songs continually shift in genre, encompassing everything from bluegrass to folk-pop to ethereal alt-rock, 25 Trips remains rooted in the sophisticated musicianship that Hull has cultivated almost her entire life. Hailing from the tiny Tennessee hamlet of Byrdstown, she learned to sing from her mother as toddler, took up mandolin just a few years later, and began joining in local bluegrass jams by the young age of eight. With her childhood triumphs including joining her hero and mentor Alison Krauss onstage at the Grand Ole Opry at age 11, she made her Rounder debut with the 2008 album Secrets and promptly garnered the first of many nominations for Mandolin Player of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards. In 2016, after a near- decade of consecutive nominations, Hull became the first-ever woman to win the award—then claimed that prize again at the 2017 and 2018 IBMAs. Over the years, Hull has also maintained a rigorous touring schedule, and has made occasional guest appearances with such icons as the Indigo Girls, Garth Brooks, and Gillian Welch.

Marking a bold new era in Hull’s artistic evolution, 25 Trips wholly channels the pure and palpable joy she discovered in the album’s creation—and ultimately illuminates certain truths about the indelible connection between risk-taking and reward. “One of the things I most enjoyed about making this record was getting to show the wide variety of music I love,” says Hull. “I don’t really know what category the album falls in, but I also think that matters less and less. What really matters to me is trusting myself to be who I am, and just putting my voice and my heart out there in the most sincere way that I possibly can.”

Guitarist Julian Lage expands his horizons on View With A Room, a collection of 10 compelling original compositions that marks his second release for Blue Note Records. Having established a home base with his brilliant and deeply attuned trio of bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Dave King—most recently heard on the guitarist’s acclaimed 2021 Blue Note debut Squint—Lage casts his gaze outward to discover new orchestrational possibilities with the addition of six-string icon Bill Frisell, who adds his inimitable voice to this absolutely stunning album.

Hailed as one of the most prodigious guitarists of his generation and “highest category of improvising musicians” (New Yorker), Julian Lage has spent more than a decade searching through the myriad strains of American musical history via impeccable technique, free association and a spirit of infinite possibility. The California-born New York-based musician boasts a prolific resume on his own accord in addition to collaborating with Gary Burton and John Zorn, as well as duo projects with Nels Cline, Chris Eldridge and Fred Hersch, among others.

Southern California based composer-instrumentalist Ashley Hoyer keeps a varied schedule of musical adventures. Described as a “mandolin phenomenon” by the San Diego Tribune, she performs in various venues ranging from great dance halls with The Syncopaths; to castles of Ireland with Sam ‘n Ash (featured in the Oscar-nominated movie The Sea Beast and the podcast Welcome to Night Vale); to classical concert halls with Fire, Grace, & Ash; as well as small listening rooms with her all-original-music folk trio Long Story Short. A frequent collaborator, Ashley’s playing can be heard on albums such as Karan Casey’s Nine Apples of Gold as well as Brian Finnegan’s Hunger of the Skin. Ashley is an avid composer premiering and recording her folk and new music works with various bands, chamber ensembles, and orchestras. With her unquenchable curiosity for composition, she’s perpetually chipping away at writing projects and commissions. In her time at home, Ashley teaches violin, mandolin, and cello to her studio of students.

Heralded as “a leading light of the New York bluegrass scene” by the New York Times, Georgia-born guitarist/singer Michael Daves has garnered attention for his work with Tony Trischka, Steve Martin, and Chris Thile, with whom he shares a Grammy nomination for their 2011 album Sleep With One Eye Open. Daves’ unruly interpretations of American roots music standards have won him a place of almost fanatical admiration as a “renegade traditionalist.” His most recent project is the double album Orchids and Violence, (Nonesuch Records) which renders identical track lists in contrasting bluegrass and experimental electric styles. Daves is also a devoted teacher of over 25 years focusing on American Roots styles. In 2016 he launched an online school of bluegrass vocals on ArtistWorks.com.

Air Travel With Musical Instruments

As of March 6, 2015, it’s official and no longer at the discretion of the various airlines. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, musicians who board planes must be allowed to carry on their instruments provided they fit in the overhead bin. If this space isn’t large enough, the musician is also permitted to purchase a second seat in which to stow their musical companion. One caveat: the airlines don’t have to prioritize musical instruments ahead of any other carry-on luggage, so if the bins are full, you’ll still have to check your instrument at the gate. To remedy this, the DoT suggests that musicians may want to pay the airline’s fee for priority boarding to ensure that there will be room for their gear.

Read the final ruling here , and for additional information, please review the Transportation Security Administration’s guide for traveling with musical instruments .

Summer Music Camp? 8 Reasons Why Your Child Should Attend

Summer Music Camp? 8 Reasons Why Your Child Should Attend

The Middle School Concert Band Camp at the Music for All Summer Symposium has been designed from the ground up with the middle school student in mind. The camp combines superior teaching, outstanding experiences, and a safe, welcoming environment for young people. But, why is a summer music camp the right thing for your child this summer? There are many excellent reasons to encourage your child to attend a summer music camp; here are some of the benefits to consider:

(1) Continue Development of Performance Skills Students spend the school year learning new skills and refining them for performance. A summer music camp will help stave off the backward slide performance skills can take during the summer. They are a great way to bridge the gap in learning (and retaining) skills and concepts over the long summer months.

(2) Expand View of Participation in Music As their daily lives become routine, it is easy for kids to remain unaware of the scope of participation in music performance at their age level. Sure, they may attend a festival or competition, but those experiences will likely have limited interaction with peers from other schools. A summer music camp truly allows the students to get to know their music peers – often from distant schools – to help broaden their view of participation in music.

(3) Foster Independence and Self-Reliance Especially for students traveling away from home to stay at the summer music camp, this will be a chance for them to build their self-confidence as individuals and as performers. The camp can provide a safe environment for a student to tackle new personal and musical challenges.

(4) Inspire New Learning through Novel Experiences New or novel experiences can be powerful influences on imprinting memories in our brains. The best summer music camps are places to meet new friends, perform new music, and provide new inspiration to encourage continued study. The wonderful memories and friendships forged at a summer music camp can last a lifetime, and provide a springboard for further development as individuals and musicians.

(5) Build Confidence through Successful, Meaningful Music Creation Often, summer music camps ask students to perform a placement audition to form groups based on ability. Placing kids in like-ability ensembles creates a safe environment for taking risks and tackling new challenges.

(6) Deepen Knowledge Related to Chosen Instrument Many performance-based summer camps will include masterclasses presented by experts for a given instrument. Summer music camps present a wonderful venue for in-depth focus on an instrument and the skill development necessary to advance as a performer.

(7) Explore New Avenues for Performance/Participation Getting ready to start marching band in high school? Want to dive into jazz improvisation? Intrigued by small chamber ensemble experiences? Summer music camps offer a diversity of opportunities to explore new avenues of performance.

(8) Develop and Strengthen Friendships Rooted in Music-Making Many students (and adults) are drawn to music-making, in part, for the socialization aspect. The summer music camp can strengthen existing friendships, and open the doors for new ones.

The summer break is a great time for fun-filled adventures. The Middle School Concert Band Camp at the Music for All Summer Symposium offers an exciting, inspiring week within a safe, welcoming environment. Young band kids will grow as musicians and as individuals through this positively life-changing experience!

She didn’t feel forced into having to take solos but wanted to because of the unique way you taught them using Mr. Allards Jazz Vocabulary Method. The small combos were a great opportunity that they don’t usually get at school. Thank you for inspiring her.”    Jim Salsman

Testimonials

"The University of Penn Band Camp. What can I say about it? This camp was fun, something new, and a great tour of one of the best colleges in Pennsylvania and an Ivy league school, this camp also showed me two important aspects of being a great musician: musicianship and inspiration for my instrument(s)." -- Markees M.,Camper

"When I first started coming to the camp during my freshman year of high school, I was pretty nervous about everything camp had in store for me. What I didn't realize at the time was I have made so many friends from this camp. To go to camp was the best decision I ever made. I have amazing memories that I will remember forever." -- Samantha R., past camper and counselor

"Hi I'm my name is Ilian, and I wanted to say how awesome the Penn Band Camp was for me. The experience I had for that week was really great. I got to experience meeting new people, socializing, and learning how to become more responsible. I can't express how much more responsible this Camp made me, and taught me how to become more independent. I became friends with people that I didn't even know! However, the Penn Band Camp didn't just teach me how to become a better person, but it also made me become better at reading music without needing to write the letter of each note on top of it. I became better with my tempo on how to come on time. Furthermore, my favorite thing that I became better as was playing higher notes than I originally could! To conclude, I enjoyed the experience the Penn Band Camp had, and I hope I can do it again." -- Ilian J., Camper

"My daughter has done two years of band camp and honor band and I am so happy that Penn Band has welcomed her into the fold. Both my husband and I are proud Penn Band alums, and love that she has had such a positive experience. They provide a week of music instruction that is both challenging and fun. The band campers have opportunities to play in a variety of settings, from a museum concert to a minor league baseball game. The end of session concert always sounds great! We are looking forward to sending both her and her younger sister to band camp this summer." -- Barbara M., Parent

"This camp is awesome. You play a lot--improving your endurance quite a bit over the week. You also get a ton of practice sight-reading, a very important skill. The dorms are fantastic, the program--especially the outstanding campus and city tours--and the entire leadership, especially Kush, but all of the counselors and everyone, is extremely intelligent, fun, and real. They take music seriously, but also know how to have a good time. Also, our final concert incorporated a theatrical side which you don't get in most band concerts. Of course, the Phillie's game was unbeatable!" -- Luke R., Camper

"I am a high school sophomore and hope to return for the third time to Penn band camp this summer. I commuted the first year, because I didn't know anybody and was apprehensive about the experience. However, I felt at ease the very first day. The students were from all walks of life, but had a common love of music. I keep in touch with my band friends throughout the year, and the week that I spend with them is the highlight of my summer. Camp has improved my musicianship, and deepened my love for Philadelphia and the Penn campus." -- Hailey K., Camper

2014 COUNSELORS

Amy Kaiser-Jones (Trombone) is a rising sophomore at Gettysburg College. She has played trombone for 9 years, participating in marching band and wind ensemble in high school and in college. Amy is majoring in Computer Science with a minor in piano performance. Originally from Columbia, Maryland, Amy was introduced to the Penn Band (and Penn Band Camp) by her brother and band member David, and quickly grew to love the Penn Band Camp. In order to make sure that she never had to leave her week of summer fun, Amy decided to be a counselor and hopes to be one for as long as she can Brooke Yanovich (Flute and Trombone) is a rising sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania planning to major in Architecture and minor in Jazz. She has played flute for 9 years, trombone for 5 years, the ocarina for 3 months and the sitar for one weekend. She has been able to take part in the Pennsylvania All-State Wind Ensemble and other ensembles. She looks forward to being a counselor at the camp!

2013 COUNSELORS

Joe Becker (Tuba) is a rising senior at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been playing the tuba for 8 years and has been part of prestigious groups such as the All-South Jersey Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Joe is from Voorhees, New Jersey which is a half hour away from Penn. He was part of marching band and wind ensemble at his high school. As a student, Joe majors in Biology and minors in Music with the hopes of eventually finding something to do with these degrees. He is a dedicated member of the Penn Band and its tuba section acting (pretending?) as the Low Brass Section Leader! Danielle Greenwald (Percussion) is a rising senior at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in bioengineering. With that degree, she hopes to make something that changes the world…or something. She played violin for nine years before starting college, and in high school she decided to join marching band where she drum majored and hit stuff in the pit. At Penn, Danielle ditched the violin and focused on hitting stuff in the Penn Band drumline. She’s extremely excited to be a counselor at PBHSSMS and teach Penn’s love of acronyms (among other things). Samantha Rehrig (Flute) is a rising junior at Misericordia University. She studies occupational therapy with a minor in psychology. When not at school, Sam loves to watch movies, listen to music, and randomly drop in to Philadelphia to spend time with her friends in the Penn Band. Starting out as a camper herself, Sam grew a love for the Penn Band Camp and over the years decided she would stay for as long as possible. Sam has been playing the flute for 10 years now in Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Pit Orchestra in high school and college. She hopes for yet another amazing week of Penn Band Camp and can't wait to meet everyone!

2012 COUNSELORS

Joe Becker (Tuba) is a rising sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been playing the tuba for 6 years and has been part of prestigious groups such as the All-South Jersey Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Joe is from Voorhees, New Jersey which is a half hour away from Penn. He was part of marching band and wind ensemble at his high school. As a student, Joe plans to major in Biology and possibly minor in Music with the hopes of eventually becoming a doctor. He is a dedicated member of the Penn Band and its tuba section! Ari Bray (Clarinet) is a rising sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania. Samantha Rehrig (Flute) just graduated from Camden Catholic High School and will be attending Misericordia University in the fall. Misericordia has a great academic program, but it's Band Camp is sorely lacking, so Sam decided to return to Penn and harass the trumpet players for yet another summer. The fate of the newly instituted "junior counselor" concept at camp rests in her hands, and quite frankly, she is reveling in the power this fact grants to her. When she's not in camp, Sam can be found watching movies (mostly about vampires and wizards), learning an audible instrument (the alto saxophone), and reviewing the Benajmin Moore color wheel in search of shades she has not yet colored her hair.

2011 COUNSELORS

Robin Acker (Flute) is a rising Senior at the University of Pennsylvania. She finds herself with a full schedule of classes and work between majoring in Nursing and minoring in Music, but she spends all of her free time with the Penn Band. She is one of the current Drum Majors of the Penn Band, and when not conducting she generally dances and sings until she either can't move anymore or doesn't have a voice. Robin is from Hamden, Connecticut, and is super excited to be a counselor for the first time, and can't wait to have an awesome time in Philly with everyone! Jen Sackowski (Alto Sax) Jen Sackowski is a rising Junior at the University of Pennsylvania. After two years of being tormented by the School of Engineering and Applied Science, she has recently transferred to the School of Arts and Sciences and is a Biology major and a Math minor. Along with her whirlwind love affair with the Penn Band, Jen also enjoys being on the Synchronized Swimming team and running various Newman Catholic Center events. She plays the alto saxophone and is crazy super excited for this summer's Band Camp! Emily Dunay (Oboe) is a rising Freshman at the University of Pennsylvania. She has played the oboe for 7 years and also plays the piano. Emily is from Nashville, Tennessee, and plans to major in Biochemistry and minor in Music. In the future she hopes to become a wildlife veterinarian. She also plays tennis and plans to play on the campus tennis team at Penn.

2010 COUNSELORS

Joe Becker (Tuba) is a rising Freshman at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been playing the tuba for 5 years and has been part of prestigious groups such as the All-South Jersey Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Joe is from Voorhees, New Jersey which is a half hour away from Penn. He was part of marching band and wind ensemble at his high school. As a student, Joe plans to major in Biology and possibly minor in Music with the hopes of eventually becoming a doctor. He is eager to join the Penn Band and become part of the Penn community and all it has to offer. Joe Coyne (Trumpet) is a Masters Student at the University of Pennsylvania, studying to become an Electrical Engineer. This Past President and Secretary of the Penn Band hails from the desolate streets of Audubon NJ (856- Represent). Entering his 14th year of Trumpeting, Joe has performed with musical acts such as The Hold Steady and Broken Social Scene at concert venues along the East Coast. Generally he and Dr. G will disagree about all topics of administration and rule following... so get excited. Jen Sackowski (Alto Sax) is a rising sophomore at Penn. Along with playing the best instrument in the world, her other hobbies include synchronized swimming, volunteering in New Orleans (saving the world, and playing with dogs). She majors in Bioengineering and plans to graduate fluent in sign language. From the city that never sleeps, Jen also never sleeps, and can be found late at night studying (but really playing Anagram Magic). She is very excited to be a counselor for the first time and hopes that everyone else is excited too!

2009 COUNSELORS

Jaci Rifkin (Percussion) is a rising junior at University of Pennsylvania. She majors in Psychology and plans to minor in French. In the Band, she is a member of the eternally-good-looking, ever-foxy Drumline. This year, she played a more nomadic role in the Band, dabbling not only in snare drum, but also in the bells, cowbell, tamborine, and even trying her hand[s] at conducting. Besides being in the Band, she is also a tour guide, where she claims her job is to encourage students to go to UPenn; in reality, however, it is an opportunity to gush about/recruit more kids to the Band. She is looking forward to (read: completely terrified about) this year's experience as the only female (read: only sane) counselor. Michael Wojcik (Trumpet) is a rising senior at Penn. He is majoring in Philosophy and minoring in German. Michael got bored with his Philosophy major (because Socrates kept asking too many annoying questions), so he decided to learn German (because Spanish had also gotten boring). Unfortunately, Michael started his minor a bit late (He’s already a senior now!). So, to help complete his German minor, he had to fly all the way to Germany this summer, to study for 6 weeks at the Freie Universität Berlin. When not studying in Berlin (i.e., partying in techno-clubs with crazy German people), he spends a lot of time playing music at Penn. He plays trumpet in both Penn Band and Penn Jazz (The former, for fun. The latter, for serious!) He’s been playing trumpet for almost 12 years now (at his peak, reaching #57 on the Mexican charts for his 2002 cover of Herb Alpert’s classic hit “Spanish Flea”). Gordon Watkins (Percussion) is a rising junior at Penn and, as a pre-med student, plans on majoring in Biology with minors in Chemistry and the Biological Basis of Behavior. Gordon hails from the City of Champions, Pittsburgh, PA, and insists that he is a champion of the bells, as well. In addition to playing percussion, he also has played the piano for 10 years and plays the organ every week for his church. Gordon is also treasurer of the Penn Band serves as the official Penn Band meteorologist. Outside band, Gordon is a member of the Alpha Phi Omega community service fraternity and a volunteer at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He will get his geekiness on while working in a CORE tissue lab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in the fall.

2008 COUNSELORS

Rebecca Aaberg's (Clarinet) love affair with the clarinet began her senior year of high school when she put aside the oboe to try a crazy little thing called marching band. She and the single reed were quickly attached at the lips (one of "those" couples), and now she's rarely seen on the field without it. Rebecca has been in the Penn Band since Fall 2006 and section leader since Spring 2007. In the coming fall, she'll continue on as head clarinet and start as Assistant Drum Major. Aside from band (there's life outside of band?), Rebecca swing dances in the West Philly Swingers and works in Harnwell College House as the Office Manager. Oh, and in her spare time she's a rising junior studying International Relations and Hispanic Studies (though she's been too lazy to declare that second major so far). Tory Gobat (clarinet) cannot believe she will be a junior at Penn already. Majoring in Digital Media Design, she also hopes to complete minors in Music and Psychology (with the help of a few petitions). A member of the Penn Band and the Penn Wind Ensemble over the past two years, in her spare time she enjoys all-nighters of programming homework...wait, what? Tory has played the clarinet for 11 years (and dabbled with the alto saxophone in high school jazz band for a year) and is excited to help out at a band camp for the first time since her high school marching band. Sandra Mazlagic (French Horn) is halfway done with college at Penn, and feels pretty strange about it. She has at times been known to be a devoted band member, but also sometimes not, because she is too passionate about mathematics, Romance languages, and swing dancing. She has had a blooming romance with the French horn for ten years, a continuing affair with mellophone for the past six, with a four-year fling with jazz trumpet in high school. She's also had a pretty boring relationship with piano for thirteen years or so, but it's not her favorite. Although her life sounds like all music and dance and flowers, it is also a lot about exploring the world. She was born in former Yugoslavia, and she is going to study abroad in Cuba (!!!) in the fall. So you can probably ask her about like socialism or being Slavic, if you'd like! Jaci Rifkin (Percussion) is a rising sophomore at University of Pennsylvania, and she plans on majoring in Psychology. Besides playing the snare drum on the Penn Band Drumline, she loves to play anything that involves hitting, plucking, or crashing, including the drums, piano, guitar, and various other percussion instruments. Besides the band, Jaci is involved with a few neuroscience labs on campus, giving her the official Drumline title "The Brain". In the future, she hopes to somehow find to a way to incorporate music (and hitting things) into her research of the many mysteries of the brain. Michael Wojcik (Trumpet) is a rising junior at Penn. He plans to major in philosophy, while minoring in unemployment. Currently, he is working at the Adolescent Risk Communication Institute of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. He enjoys this job because the name sounds impressive. More importantly, Michael plays trumpet in Penn Jazz and Penn Band. However, Michael often must deflect insults, from fellow Penn Jazz members, concerning his membership in the Penn Band. He usually mumbles something about "musical community service" to avoid embarrassment. Michael is in his 10th year of playing the trumpet, but has recently picked up the guitar, claiming that "girls dig guitar, man."

2007 COUNSELORS

Noah Becker (Trombone) is an enthusiastic junior-to-be at the University of Pennsylvania and he someday hopes to decide on a major, maybe even this year! Along with playing trombone with the Penn Band, Noah is also a brother in the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, a member of the Pennsylvania Six-5000 a cappella group and a founding brother of Penn’s mysterious and exclusive FabFive™. Noah is entering his 12th year of trombone playing. Mel Foreman (Trombone) - Mel is a rising senior at the University of Pennsylvania, double majoring in Political Science and American History. Back from a one year hiatus from the Penn Band Camp, she is excited to be once again being able to share her love of music with high school students. She has been a "bonehead" for the past twelve years and looks forward to contributing to the shenanigans of the Penn Band during her final year at Penn. Carly Weiss (Percussion) is a rising sophomore in the College, hoping to major in both political science and economics, but who knows at this point. She is a percussionist through and through, having played for five years now. Carly mostly monopolizes the quad toms, but occassionally dabbles in some snare, bass, and whatever else needs filling in. Penn Band percussion is all fun and games, but her main interest is writing her own music, for piano. She is also a member of Penn's Club Ice Hockey team. Michael Wojcik (Trumpet) is a rising sophomore at Penn.

2006 COUNSELORS

Noah Becker (trombone) is an enthusiastic sophomore-to-be at the University of Pennsylvania and he someday hopes to decide on a major, maybe even this year! Along with playing trombone with the Penn Band, Noah is also a brother in the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, a member of the Pennsylvania Six-5000 a cappella group and a founding brother of Penn’s mysterious and exclusive FabFive™. Noah is entering his 11th year of trombone playing. Brooke Prashker (flute) - Brooke is entering her junior year at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is majoring in Biological Basis of Behavior with a minor in Health Care Management. She is the flute section leader of the Penn Band, but when needed, she plays the alto saxophone as well. She works in a Psychiatry laboratory that studies the genetics of mental disorders and is also a Big Sister in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. Brooke has been playing the flute for eleven years, piccolo for nine years, and the saxophone for three years. John Palusci (trombone) – John is entering his sophomore year at the University of Pennsylvania with a major in chemistry and a minor in music. Over the summer he will be playing with lasers, oops, he means researching with lasers. Although John has only been playing trombone for 4 years, don’t let that fool you: he participates in many University ensembles such as the Penn Symphony Orchestra, Penn Wind Ensemble, and of course the Penn Band.

2005 COUNSELORS

deMauri Mackie (french horn) -- deMauri is entering her senior year at the University of Pennsylvania where she is a biochemistry major and German and psychology minor. Her on-campus activities include the Penn Band and Sigma Kappa Sorority. Next year deMauri will serve as the Drum Major and CD production manager for the Penn Band. The rest of her 'free' time is spent doing research in Childrens' Hospital of Philadelphia's Departement of Immunology. deMauri has played French horn for eleven years and this is her second summer with UPSMI. Jacqueline Scena (clarinet) - Jackie is entering her senior year at the University of Pennsylvania, and is earning a major in Psychology and minors in English and Chemistry. In addition to playing clarinet and bass clarinet with the Penn Band, she works in a Psychiatry laboratory that studies the genetics of mental illnesses and tutors high school students. Jackie has played the clarinet for twelve years. Mel Foreman (trombone) -- Mel is entering her sophomore year at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. Over the summer she is working at Van Pelt Library and the Penn Fund. She has been a "bonehead" for the past ten years and looks forward to contributing to the shenanigans of the Penn Band over her remaining years at Penn.

Allison Fandl (percussion) -- Allison is entering her second year at the University of Pennsylvania's College of Arts and Sciences. She is majoring in Classical Studies, with a concentration in the languages, Classical Greek and Latin. On campus she plays with the Penn Band, and off campus she teaches as the pit instructor for the Penn’s Grove High School Marching Band in South Jersey. Allison has been playing percussion for eight years and plans to continue playing well into her nursing-home years. From Hootie to Blink-182, here are the concerts to add to your Upstate summer lineup

tour music camp

Greenville and the surrounding area are set to have a sizzling summer music scene as a host of international and local country, rock and R&B artists will arrive in the Upstate between May and September.

Over the last year, Fantasia , Jellyroll , Thomas Rhett and more notable acts have contributed to Greenville's popularly growing music scene. As we await the upcoming 2025 Trueline entertainment venue and Peace Center's A Music Project to arrive by the end of the decade, there are still a ton of great top performers to see throughout the Upstate.

As the weather heats up and the Greenville-area social events begin to sprout, here are 10 of our favorite shows to see this summer throughout the area:

Frank Foster at The Foundry at Judson Mill, May 4

Indie-country artist Frank Foster arrives in Greenville just before summer officially begins. The independent artist who writes and sings his original works will star at one of Greenville's best new music venues: The Foundry at Judson Mill.

Since 2011, Foster has climbed the Country Billboard charts, reaching as high as number seven and number two in the sales charts in 2018 with his album "Til I'm Gone."

Tickets for the 7 p.m. show are $20 — a good deal for a great time.

Keith Sweat at the Peace Center, May 5

R&B and Soul make its way to the Peace Center as Keith Sweat will serenade downtown Greenville with sounds of the '90s with a 14-album solo catalog spanning as recently as 2018.

His career highlights include genre classics "Make It Last Forever," "Nobody," and "Get Up on It," with both a 1993 Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award and a 1997 American Music Award to boast, plus collaborations with fellow R&B hitmakers Gerald Levert and Johnny Gill for two albums that reached Billboard charts.

Sister Hazel at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, May 10

Sister Hazel returns to Spartanburg for the second time as January 2023 saw the rock band sell out the inaugural show inside "The Hall." As nearly 1,800 people attended last year's performance, Lindsay Drakulic, director of marketing for Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, expects the same.

The Gainsville, Fla. natives are known for their breakout singles "All for You" and "Your Winter," which made the soundtrack for the movie "Ten Things I Hate About You."

"Their return means they are coming back because they enjoyed themselves, which is indicative of how our Spartanburg embraced them," Drakulic said. "They are such a legendary group and true performers; we're honored to have them."

Ticket costs begin at $30 per seat.

Location: 385 N Church St. (Spartanburg)

Tim McGraw: Standing Room Only Tour at Bon Secours, May 16

Americana/Rock band Wim Tapley and The Cannons are also on the marquee for the evening. Their most recent album, "Red Room," was released in February 2024.

Rock the Country at the Anderson Sports & Entertainment Center, July 26-27

Rock and country music collide for a two-day festival in Anderson as Kid Rock, Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert headline an event encouraging car and RV camping and featuring 25 food and beverage vendors. Tickets for this concert can be found at rockthecountry.com .

"Anderson gets to showcase the asset that it is and we're excited to see the folks who are visiting from other states and to welcome those who have not experienced the area before," said Marty Elliot, owner of Ready Room Collective, a group that facilitates booking musical acts across the Upstate.

She expects the event to host around 25,000 people each day.

Location: 3027 Martin Luther King Blvd. (Anderson)

Blink-182: One More Time Tour at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena, July 29

Drumming-extraordinaire Travis Barker and Blink-182 bring their San Diego roots to the South as the 30-year rock band brings their "One More Time" tour to Greenville, which debuted at number one the week following its release on Billboard 200.

Most known for their 2000s smash hit single "All the Small Things," Blink-182 is responsible for the pop-punk sound influence of the millennium alongside bands Nickelback and Creed.

Shakira announces 2024 U.S. tour. Get tickets today

The “She Wolf” is coming out of her cage.

For the first time since 2018, Shakira will officially tour North America as part of her upcoming ‘LAS MUJERES YA NO LLORAN WORLD TOUR’ (which translates to “women no longer cry”).

Midway through the 14-concert run, the three-time Grammy winner is scheduled to stop in at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Thursday, Dec. 5.

At all shows, fans can expect to hear cuts from the Colombian icon’s recently released album that shares a name with the tour.

Hits like “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Whenever, Wherever,” and “Dia De Enero” will likely sneak into the setlist as well.

For those who can’t wait to get their hands on tickets, they can be secured as soon as today.

Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Monday, April 22, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.

On March 22, Shakira released her 12th studio album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.”

Comprised of 17 tracks featuring big-name collaborators like Cardi B, Bizarrap, Grupo Frontera, Rauw Alejandro, and Ozuna among others, the 47-year-old songstress sticks to español this time around. However, whether or not you speak Spanish is beside the point; Shakira’s music this time around is so catchy that you won’t mind looking up what the lyrics mean on Google Translate.

Highlights include the dance floor-ready hit “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” the infectious mariachi-inspired “El Jefe” with Fuerza Regida, and the icy “TQG” featuring Karol G.

While the whole album slaps, we’d be remiss if we didn’t shout our favorite track: the disco-flavored “Cohete.” We can’t stop listening.

Want to check it out for yourself? You can find “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” here .

Prior to announcing the tour, Shakira surprised the crowd at at Coachella on Friday, April 12 when she performed “La Fuerte” and “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53” alongside Bizzarap.

A raucous fan video can be seen here:

Many Latin icons are on the road all year long.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .

About Ziggy Marley

Ziggy Marley is an eight-time Grammy winner, Emmy winner, musician, producer, activist and humanitarian who has cultivated a legendary career for close to 40 years.  The eldest son of Bob and Rita Marley, Ziggy has hewed his own path as a musical pioneer, infusing the reggae genre with funk, blues, rock and other elements through mindful songcraft.  Equal parts master storyteller and motivational guide, he deftly explores issues from environmental awareness to self-empowerment, social injustice to political inequity, while returning again and again to the transformative power of love. And over the past 15 years with his own companies, Tuff Gong Worldwide and Ishti Music, Marley has complete control of his masters and publishing; alongside his charity URGE – benefiting the well-being of children in Jamaica, Africa and North America.

About Stephen Marley

Stephen “Ragga” Marley is a world-renowned singer, songwriter, and producer whose work has earned no fewer than eight Grammy Awards. Born into a musical family, Stephen is the child of reggae legends Bob Marley and Rita Marley. He began singing professionally at 6, touring the world with his elder siblings Ziggy, Sharon, and Cedella in The Melody Makers. In 2008, he released his first solo album, Mind Control, which won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. His subsequent solo albums include Mind Control Acoustic, Revelation Part I: The Root of Life, and Revelation Part II: The Fruit of Life. Stephen’s first new full-length album in more than seven years, Old Soul, was released on September 15 via Tuff Gong Collective/UMe/Ghetto Youths International. The new album is a departure from his previous Reggae repertoire, showcasing more of his bluesy, acoustic soul side, as evidenced by the first single, “Old Soul.” Stephen is also an acclaimed producer, working closely with his brother Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley on the massive crossover hit Welcome To Jamrock. In addition, Stephen continues to champion charitable endeavors centered in Jamaica as a co-founder of the Ghetto Youths Foundation, along with his brothers Damian and Julian Marley.  In 2017, Stephen established Kaya Fest, the annual music festival, which features special guests and rare family performances, all with the larger purpose of raising awareness around the benefits of cannabis, guided by the mantra “Education Before Recreation.”

About Julian Marley

Julian Marley, born in London, England on June 4, 1975, to Bob Marley and Lucy Pounder, embraced a musical upbringing, mastering various instruments as a self-taught musician. Mentored by reggae greats in Jamaica, he released his debut album “Lion in the Morning” in 1996, followed by international tours. He contributed to Lauryn Hill’s Grammy-winning album and collaborated on a Stevie Wonder tribute. His sophomore album, “A Time and Place,” showcased a fusion of reggae and jazz. Julian spearheaded the ‘Africa Unite’ performances and performed at the 2008 Olympic Games. His Grammy-nominated album “Awake” in 2009 garnered acclaim, winning ‘Best Album of the Year’ at the IRAWMAs. Julian, deeply rooted in Rastafarianism like his father, remains committed to spiritual and global messages in his music, embodying a conscious movement in reggae.

About Ky-Mani Marley

Ky-Mani Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley and Anita Belnavis, is a Grammy-nominated artist who burst onto the scene with his 1996 debut album “Like Father Like Son,” blending reggae with hip-hop. Born in Falmouth, Jamaica, he has a diverse discography including “Many More Roads” (2001), “Maestro” (2015), and a collaboration with Gentleman titled “Conversations.” Beyond music, Ky-Mani has showcased his acting skills in films like “Shottas” (2002) and “One Love” (2003). With his soulful voice and powerful lyrics, he upholds the Marley legacy while forging his own distinctive path in entertainment.

About Damian Marley

Multi-Grammy winning talent, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley is a highly acclaimed Jamaican singer, songwriter and producer.  He is the youngest son of the revered legend, Bob Marley. His musical style fuses reggae with elements of dancehall, hip-hop, R&B, and rock, crafting a fresh and modern sound that is uniquely his own. Damian was the first ever Reggae artist to win a GRAMMY AWARD® outside of the Reggae category. The acclaimed 2005 breakthrough disc, Welcome To Jamrock , won a GRAMMY AWARD® for Best Reggae Album, with the New York Times naming the track “the best reggae song of the decade.” In 2010, Marley teamed up with Nas and brother Stephen Marley for his Distant Relatives project, and went on to partner with Skrillex for their groundbreaking track “Make It Bun Dem,” which Rolling Stone called “a monster mash-up of dubstep and dancehall.” Which went platinum with over 1 Million copies sold in the United States alone. Following the track’s success, the reggae superstar released his fourth studio album, Stony Hill , resulting in his third GRAMMY AWARD® for Best Reggae Album. In September of 2022, Marley produced the studio album, The Kalling, for Kabaka Pyramid which won Best Reggae Album at the 65th Annual GRAMMY AWARDS®. Future and Metro Boomin announce tour with summer stop in Nashville after music collabs

tour music camp

On Tuesday, rapper Future and record producer Metro Boomin announced their "We Trust You Tour," which will take them to Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

The 27-date tour will kick off on July 30 in Kansas City, MO and will make its way across North America with stops in Atlanta, Brooklyn, Toronto, Seattle and more. The touring stint also includes a stop at Chicago's Lollapalooza on Aug 3. The tour will wrap up in Vancouver, BC in September.

The tour announcement comes on the heels of Future and Metro Boomin's recent collaborations, album "WE DON’T TRUST YOU" dropped in March, and "WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU," which released on April 12.

"WE DON’T TRUST YOU" took the rap world by storm with track "Like That" with Kendrick Lamar, which sticks to the Billboard's Hot 100 for a third week in a row.

Atlanta rapper, singer and producer Future has won three Grammy Awards, achieved diamond status for song "Life Is Good (feat. Drake)" and released his ninth album, "I Never Liked You," in 2022.

Metro Boomin, a producer, DJ and artist, is the highest-streaming producer in music. You may know him for his work on hits "Jumpman" by Drake and Future, "Bad and Boujee" by Migos or "Congratulations" by Post Malone.

Metro and Future's collab album "WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU" has gone viral for its potential sneak disses. Fans speculate that the album includes disses directed towards Drake, not just by Metro and Future, but also The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky.

Drake has worked with each of these artists before, but fans don't know what went off the rails in their relationships. Now, rap fans are waiting for the next moves in the latest rap feud.

Tickets will be available starting with a Cash App presale on Wednesday, April 17 and Thursday, April 18. Fans can visit cash.app/exclusives/wetrustyoutour-presale to grab early tickets.

General onsale for tickets will begin on Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. CST on  livenation.com .
