An entry visa to Lebanon will not be issued on Israeli passports or any other passport and travel document stamped with an Israeli visa or seal. Moreover, a Lebanese visa is rendered invalid if an Israeli visa or seal is stamped on the passport.

Remark : Granting a visa to Lebanon for  holder of UK Travel Document for Refugees requires prior approval of the General Directorate of General Security in Lebanon. This procedure takes some time, so the Embassy advises the visa applicants to submit the request   two months at least before the departure date .

A free entry visa is granted for Diplomats and members of International Organizations in Geneva. Please provide two copies of the verbal note.

The personal presence to deposit a visa application at the Embassy is not mandatory. Please download the  visa application form  from the website of the Embassy, fill it and send it to the Embassy's address:  15 Palace Garden Mews, London, W8 4RB , with the following documents: 

*   Original passport valid for at least seven months with a colour photocopy of the pages containing the bearer's identity and the validity of the passport.

*    One  recent coloured passport-sized photo  (4,3 x 3,5 cm) not drawn from another photos, showing full details of the face with a white background .

*    In case of a visa for an underage child, both parents should sign a consent letter authorizing the child to travel .

*   For students’ visa, a certificate from the university/school in Lebanon should be attached to the application.

* For private visits: a reference letter from the person or company to be visited, including their full address and telephone numbers.

* For Housekeepers: copy of sponsor’s passport, and/or accompanying person along with a copy of Work Agreement.

*    A copy of the applicant's Residency.

*   Statement of Account for the last three months-showing enough funds for the visit.  

*   Hotel reservation. 

*   Employment Letter stating the salary and the position. 

*   The amount of the consular fee is paid in cash or by postal order (checks are not accepted) when the visa application is accepted: -    £63.00 Single Entry

      -    £90.00 Two Entries. -    £125.00 Multiple Entries.

• Fiancee visa (or Settlement Marriage visa) - the applicant to come to the UK for up to 6 months, register a marriage and apply for a Settlement Spouse visa within the UK.
• Spouse visa - If you have already registered your marriage to a UK national you can apply for a Spouse visa, which is issued for 2.5 years and includes the right to work. It can be extended once in the UK and lead to an ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) and UK citizenship.
• EEA Family Permit / EU Settlement Scheme family permit - if your spouse is living and working in the UK and is an EU national but does not have UK citizenship.
• Unmarried partners visa - if you are not married officially to a UK national but have lived together for two years.
• Same-sex partners visa - If you are same-sex partners, have already registered your marriage to a UK national or for unmarried partners, if you have lived together for two years.
• Dependant child visa (or Settlement Child visa) - if you want to bring your dependant child to the UK.
• General work visa (Tier 2) can be applied for if the applicant has been offered a skilled job in the UK.
• Temporary Worker visa (Tier 5) - includes Charity Worker visa, Creative and Sporting visa, Government Authorised Exchange visa, International Agreement visa, Religious Worker visa, Seasonal Worker visa, Youth Mobility Scheme visa.

Everything You Need To Know About Lebanon Visa

As the United Kingdom is not a visa exempt country, all British nationals should obtain a visa to visit Lebanon.

Citizens of the United Kingdom can either obtain a visa on arrival or can get a visa via the Lebanon embassy before the trip. 

A visa on arrival can be obtained at the entry port in Beirut International airport or any other port of entry, unless until the traveler’s passport does not have an Israeli stamp. 

However, travel experts believe that obtaining a visa before the travel date is the best way to visit Lebanon, as authorities in Lebanon may phase out the visa on arrival privilege at any time without prior notice.

Depending on the nature and purpose of the foreign national’s trip, authorities in Lebanon have classified their visas into several types. Please scroll down to know more about these visa types.

Lebanon tourist visa

All British nationals intending to visit Lebanon for tourism-related activities can apply for a Lebanon tourist visa. 

These visas are exclusively dedicated to foreign nationals entering the country for tourism activities, and they are not supposed to do any other operations in the country. 

In order to get a Lebanon tourist visa, a foreign national should submit the documents mentioned below.

• The applicant’s original signed UK passport which has a minimum validity of three months should be submitted. This passport should also have three consecutive blank pages for stamping.
• A recently taken photograph of the applicant should be submitted. This photograph should provide the full-frontal view of the applicant’s head with the face centered in the middle. In the photograph, the applicant should make sure that he or she is maintaining a neutral facial expression.
• A letter that furnishes the applicant’s employment should be submitted. This letter should be issued by the applicant’s employer in the United Kingdom in the company’s letterhead. The letter should show the name of the traveler, and it should assure that he or she is an employee in the company. This letter should specify the nature and purpose of the traveler’s visit to Lebanon, and it should assure that he or she will return to work after completing the journey.
• It is necessary to prove the financial stability of the traveler. In order to prove it, the applicant can submit last three months’ non-online bank statements. Please note that the minimum balance in this statement should be £35.00 per day of stay.
• A hotel room booking detail should be submitted as a proof of accommodation.
• Apart from submitting the original passport, the applicant should also submit a clear copy of his or her passport.
• The visa application form to obtain a Lebanon tourist visa should be completed without any errors. There are several previous instances where foreign nationals were denied Lebanon visas due to errors in the application form. So, make sure that you are completing it with utmost care and attention. Tips to take care while applying for a Lebanon tourist visa

• If the visa is being applied for the spouse of a Lebanese national, it is necessary to submit a copy of marriage certificate and a copy of the husband's Lebanese ID.
• If a minor is applying for a Lebanon visa, it is necessary to submit a consent form signed by both the parents. If the parents are separated or divorced, it is mandatory to submit the notarized copy of the court order.

British nationals who want to visit Lebanon for business purposes can apply for a business visa. Using these visas, travelers can engage in business activities like commercial sale trading. 

Foreign nationals intending to obtain a Lebanon business visa should submit the below mentioned documents.

• The actual signed passport of the foreign national that has a minimum validity of three months and three blank pages should be submitted to obtain a Lebanon business visa.
• A recent photograph that shows the applicant in a neutral, non-smiling expression should be submitted.
• A business introduction letter issued by the applicant’s company in the United Kingdom should be submitted. This letter should briefly introduce the traveler, and should outline the nature and purpose of the journey.
• A business invitation letter issued by the company in Lebanon should be submitted. Please make sure that this letter is addressed to the Consulate of Lebanon. This letter should be signed by a senior manager of the company, and it should detail the nature of business that will be conducted by the foreign national during his or her stay in Lebanon. It is also necessary to state the type and desired validity of the visa in this business invitation letter.
• The applicant should submit copy of round-trip tickets or the complete version of the itinerary. While submitting the itinerary, please make sure that it is being sent by a travel agent or an airline company.
• It is necessary to submit proof of health insurance that covers international travel.
• A copy of recent bank statement should be submitted as a livelihood proof.
• It is mandatory to submit hotel room booking confirmation details to get a Lebanon business visa.
• A clear photocopy of the applicant’s passport should be submitted.

Lebanon transit visa

If you are a British national transiting through Lebanon to a different destination, then there is no need to obtain a transit visa. 

However, the traveler should meet the conditions mentioned below.

• The traveler should hold a passport. This passport should have minimum six months validity and one blank visa page.
• The traveler should make sure that he will continue the journey on the same calendar day from Lebanon to the next destination.
• It is necessary to hold proof of sufficient funds, along with proof of onward/return tickets.
• The British national should hold all documents required for the next destination.
• It is mandatory to hold visa of the next country.
• Before starting the journey, it is very much recommended to confirm with the airline that boarding is allowed without a visa, as these rules are subject to change.

Lebanon official travel visa

In order to get a Lebanon official visa, foreign nationals should submit the documents mentioned below.

• The passport of the applicant which has a minimum validity of three months and three consecutive blank pages should be submitted. While submitting the passport, please ensure that it has no Israeli stamps on it.
• A recently taken photograph of the applicant should be submitted.
• It is necessary to submit the Appendix B/Note Verbale certifying the purpose of travel from the relevant Government Agency/Embassy/Consulate/State Enterprise/International Organization in Lebanon.
• The applicant should submit a clear copy of his or her passport.
• The visa application form to obtain the Lebanon official travel visa should be completed properly without any errors.

UK Deputy Chief of Defence Staff ends visit to Lebanon

Air Marshall Harvey Smyth emphasised UK’s ongoing commitment to support the Lebanese Army despite challenges.

Visit to Land Border Regiment on the Lebanese-Syrian border.

The UK Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Harvey Smyth, completed a two-day visit to Lebanon on Tuesday 23 April.  This was his first visit to the country and his focus was to discuss UK efforts for de-escalation in the region.

Air Marshall Smyth met with Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Speaker Nabih Berri, General Joseph Aoun, Chief of Defence for the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib. In his messages he reiterated UK’s support to the strengthening of LAF and for the people of Lebanon.  He emphasised UK’s ongoing commitment to support LAF as it delivers stability and security across Lebanon despite the country’s challenges.

In north Lebanon, he saw how the hard-working officers and soldiers of the 1st Land Border Regiment continue to professionally secure Lebanon’s sovereignty and to combat smuggling and terrorist activities along more than 100km of the border with Syria.

At the end of his visit, Air Marshall Harvey Smyth said:

I have seen first-hand the excellent partnership between the British and Lebanese Armed Forces on the Syrian border, and during my meetings I reiterated the UK’s position that Lebanon must not be dragged into a regional conflict.

The UK is working closely alongside our Lebanese partners to de-escalate tensions in the region and ongoing hostilities along the Blue Line, whilst calling for an end to the fighting in Gaza.

British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell said:

Now, more than ever, it is important that we work together to avoid further escalation in South Lebanon and the region. The UK remains committed to supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces during these challenging times, and will work with international partners towards peace and long-term stability.
