Schedule a Visit

We love welcoming prospective students to Carolina Law for a visit. During the fall (mid-September through mid-November) and spring (mid-January through mid-April) semesters, visitors have the opportunity to attend an admissions session led by an admissions team member; tour the building with current students; and possibly observe a first-year law class (space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis).

Self-guided tours are the primary means of seeing the school from late April into early September, or on weekdays when the building is open but scheduled visits are not available. However, a member of the admissions team is happy to meet with you during this time to answer any questions about Carolina Law, the admissions process, or law school in general. Please let us know when you plan to stop by so we can welcome you accordingly.

For Spring 2024, in-person visits will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays (for admitted students ONLY) starting at 10:00am with a class observation and immediately followed by a tour of the law school building given by current students. Visits will conclude around 1:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. In-person visits will also be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays (all are welcome) starting at 11:00am with an admissions session and immediately followed by a tour of the law school building given by current students. For visitors not registered for a class observation on Tuesdays or Thursdays, their visit will conclude around 1:00pm. For those visitors registered for a class observation, their visit will conclude at 2:15pm.

Class observation registration is limited and on a first-come, first served basis. Due to space limitations, only prospective students will be permitted to observe a class. Guests, however, are invited to participate in all other aspects of the visit.

You must provide at least two business days’ notice when scheduling your in-person visit.

UNC School of Social Work

  • CENTERS & INSTITUTES

The Tate-Turner-Kuralt Building (TTK), the primary home to UNC School of Social Work, is on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We encourage you to visit!

Throughout the year, we offer info sessions for individuals who want to learn more about our degree programs and the admission process. If you would like to visit at another time, please contact our admissions staff to schedule your visit. Most of our students participate in field education off-campus on Wednesday and Thursdays, so if you visit on those days, you may not be able to experience classes and other student activities.

About Chapel Hill

Chapel Hill is in central North Carolina and is two miles south of I-40. Together with neighboring cities Durham and Raleigh, Chapel Hill forms one point of North Carolina’s Research Triangle, the headquarters for many technology firms. Although Chapel Hill is a small town that retains a “village” atmosphere, the area offers world-class amenities, including performing arts, professional sports, festivals, three major research universities, and a diverse cultural scene.

Map & Directions

The physical address for Tate-Turner-Kuralt Building is 325 Pittsboro Street, Chapel Hill, N.C., 27516.

Please note that Pittsboro Street is a one-way street, with traffic traveling north to south only. Its south-to-north “partner” street is Columbia Street, which passes by to the east of TTK and leads directly to downtown Chapel Hill.

TTK is between McGavran-Greenberg Building (which serves UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health) and FedEx Global Education Building. There is a State Employees Credit Union branch office directly across Pittsboro Street from TTK.

The nearest bus stops are located on Pittsboro Street directly across from TTK and on Columbia Street in front of the Health Sciences Library. These bus stops are served by several Chapel Hill Transit routes locally, as well as by GoTriangle and PART commuter routes.

Illustration: Walking Path from Dogwood Deck to Tate-Turner-Kuralt Building

For daytime parking , visitors are encouraged to use the Dogwood Deck, which is directly across from the UNC Hospitals complex and within three blocks of TTK. Please allow 15 minutes to walk from the Dogwood Deck to TTK, using this route:

  • Exit Dogwood Deck on Manning Drive, turn left and walk to Columbia Street.
  • Turn right on Columbia Street and walk to Health Sciences Library.
  • Use the crosswalk at Health Sciences Library to cross Columbia Street.
  • Look for a brick path that circles to the right side of the building ahead. Follow this path between the Rosenau and Kerr buildings (see illustration). TTK is the five-story building directly behind Kerr Building.

You can also board a Chapel Hill Transit bus on Manning Drive, exiting the bus at Health Sciences library. This will save steps but not time!

There is a $1.50/hour fee to parking at Dogwood Deck (subject to change).

For nighttime parking , most UNC-Chapel Hill parking lots offer a $1 temporary pass for the night (regardless of hours). This temporary pass is not available for the Dogwood Deck but may be used for the Nash (N-7) parking lot, which is one block from TTK. To view a weeknight parking map and purchase a temporary pass for nighttime parking, please refer to this website: https://move.unc.edu/parking/visitor-parking/weeknight-payment/

A.J. Dybantsa Wants to Visit North Carolina in the Fall

unc tour visits

Memphis, TN - A.J. Dybantsa was not a happy camper. Despite scoring 21 points, and going a near perfect 8 for 9 from the field, the nation's top rising senior felt he had let his team down.

The favored Oakland Soldiers fell behind to the hometown Team Thad squad in what had all the makings of an old-time chippy AAU game. Frustration crept in, and Dybantsa picked up a first half technical foul in front of a jam packed crowd that surrounded Court 2 at the Memphis Sports and Event Center.

The Soldiers rallied, and so did Dybantsa. He had a big-time rebound in the clutch, and a game clenching dunk in transition on the way to a 69-66 win. That was the closest game they would have on the way to a 3-0 weekend.

The player who may be the top talent in all of high school basketball walked away from the Bluff City leading the EYBL in scoring through three games with a 26.3 point average in 24 minutes of play. He also went for 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. Dybantsa went 52.2% from the field, 1 for 6 from three point range, and 30 for 35 from the foul line for 85.7%.

But the conclusion of the Soldiers' Saturday afternoon game was when the mob of media members from every part of the country surrounded Dybantsa. Tar Heel Illustrated was part of that assembly as he addressed questions about his recruitment, and several of the programs involved.

Son of Duke Champ Says UNC Basketball Keeps Pushing for Visit

UNC basketball may see itself as a legit contender for the coveted Boozer twins.

  • Author: Matt Giles

In this story:

Their father is 2001 Duke basketball national champion Carlos Boozer, a 13-year NBA forward and two-time All-Star following his prolific three-year college career. Despite that tie to the other side of the game's greatest rivalry, the UNC basketball recruiters remain in the hunt for the Columbus High School (Fla.) standout Boozer twins, five-star forward Cameron Boozer told the media this weekend.

RELATED: UNC's Three 2024 Signees Receive Final Rankings

In fact, as On3's Jack Pilgrim reported , the 6-foot-9, 235-pound polished phenom even listed the Tar Heels alongside Duke, Miami, and Florida as the four programs most active in what could be a package-deal recruitment.

"They offered me a little while back, but they've been active ever since they offered me," Cameron Boozer, No. 2 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, confirmed about the Tar Heels' pursuit of his services and those of brother Cayden Boozer, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound crafty guard boasting a five-star rating and No. 17 composite ranking. "I think they offered me last year during EYBL.

"They want to get us up for a visit and that they're super interested in us."

This is five-star F Cameron Boozer from from his twin brother, four-star G Cayden Boozer. pic.twitter.com/uh8XXb6gXg — Rob Cassidy (@Cassidy_Rob) April 26, 2024

Together, Cameron Boozer and Cayden Boozer comprise one-fifth of the 10-deep 2025 UNC basketball offer sheet. All other eight targets on that list, including several at both Boozer twins' positions, are also five-stars ranking inside the top 20 in the cycle.

Thus far, none of them have committed anywhere or eliminated Hubert Davis and his staff from contention.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Four law officers serving a warrant for a felon wanted for possessing a firearm were killed and four other officers were wounded in a shootout Monday at a North Carolina home, police said.

Some of the officers who rushed to the Charlotte neighborhood to rescue the first wave of downed officers were wounded as a second shooter began firing on them after they killed the wanted man, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings said.

“Today we lost some heroes who were out simply trying to keep our community safe,” Jennings said at a news conference.

After a three-hour standoff, the suburban Charlotte home was torn open. Armored vehicles smashed into it, ripping off windows and entire doorways that were left broken. Several armored vehicles were parked across yards, some with tree branches dangling off them.

The U.S. Marshals Task Force was fired on by the wanted suspect as they approached the house and the man was killed in the front yard, Jennings said. His name was not released, but the chief said he was wanted as a felon illegally possessing a weapon.

A second person then fired on officers from inside the home where a high-powered rifle was found, Jennings added.

A woman and a 17-year-old male were found in the home after the standoff. The two are being questioned, Jennings said.

The Marshal’s Service confirmed one of its agents was killed. Two officers from the state Department of Adult Correction also were killed, said North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper. The governor was in Charlotte and was speaking to the families of the officers killed and hurt. Their names have not been released.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Joshua Eyer died a few hours later at the hospital, Jennings said. Eyer was named the officer of the month for the force for April a few weeks ago, the chief said.

“He certainty gave his life and dedicated his life to protecting our citizens,” Jennings said.

One other member of the task force, which is made up of federal agents and other officers from across the region was injured.

Three other Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers who responded to the scene were shot while trying to rescue the wounded officers.

Neighbors said gunfire lasted for several minutes.

WSOC-TV said their helicopter captured an armored vehicle driving through yards and knocking over recycling bins before officers removed a person with blood on their shirt who was then loaded into an ambulance.

After the home was cleared, the helicopter pilot said he couldn’t show the front lawn of the home because the scene was too graphic and disturbing.

“A lot of the questions that need to be answered, we don’t even know what those questions are now,” Jennings said, somberly briefing reporters less than four hours after the shooting. “We have to get a full understanding of why this occurred and also uphold the integrity of the investigation.”

Many roads in the area including Interstate 77 were closed so ambulances could get to hospitals faster. TV footage showed ambulances speeding to hospitals escorted by vehicles both in front and behind with their sirens wailing.

Rissa Reign was cleaning her house when she heard the first shots ring out. There was a pause, then a second set of shots and then a third. She stepped outside.

“When we came outside, there were no cops at all, then cops started rushing, rushing, rushing, rushing in,” she said, adding armored SWAT trucks quickly followed and they “were going over the grass, everything, and they started shooting again.”

The neighborhood, of one– and two-story, brick homes and small trimmed lawns, is very safe, said Alex Rivera, who lives on a street nearby.

“I see, like, 50 police cars zooming in, and then I hear gunshots,” he said on the front porch of the house he shares with his cousin. “I was scared, because there was so much going on.“

Another neighbor, William Cunningham, was moved to tears as he sat on his porch. He said he is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm but never expected such violence in his own neighborhood.

“Bless those officers and bless their families,” he said. “Nobody should get killed over a warrant.”

Four Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools were placed on lockdown around afternoon dismissal, but that was lifted in the late afternoon, the district said.

Police urged people to stay away from the neighborhood and asked residents to remain inside their homes until the all clear was given.

President Joe Biden was briefed on the shooting and spoke with Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles to express his condolences and support for the community.

“They are heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, rushing into harm’s way to protect us,” Biden said in a statement late Monday. “We mourn for them and their loved ones. And we pray for the recoveries of the courageous officers who were wounded.”

The last marshal shot and killed in the line of duty was in November 2018. Chase White was shot in Tucson, Arizona, by a man wanted for stalking local law enforcement officers, the agency said.

The Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force is headquartered in Charlotte and comprised of 70 federal, state and local agencies. Fugitive task forces are collaborations between agencies to find and arrest suspects in crimes.

In six years, the regional task force has apprehended more than 8,900 fugitives, the U.S. Marshals Service said on its website.

In March 2007, two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers were killed while responding to a domestic dispute by someone not directly involved in the fight. Demeatrius Antonio Montgomery is serving a life sentence in the killings of officers Jeffrey Shelton and Sean Clark.

Contributing to this report were Jeffrey Collins in Columbia, South Carolina; Rebecca Reynolds in Louisville, Kentucky; and Sarah Brumfield in Silver Spring, Maryland.

President Joe Biden to visit Wilmington this week

unc tour visits

President Joe Biden is set to visit Wilmington this week.

According to an email announcement Monday afternoon from the White House, "On Thursday, May 2, the President will travel to Wilmington, North Carolina, to discuss how his Investing in America agenda is rebuilding our infrastructure and creating good-paying jobs in Wilmington and across the country."

Jill Hopman, chair of the New Hanover County Democratic Party, said Biden is expected to visit the Port City to talk infrastructure and environmental issues Thursday afternoon. The exact time and location of the event has not yet been determined, Hopman said.

While Biden is seeking reelection in the November presidential election, Hopman said the anticipated stop is a presidential visit, not a campaign event.

In a statement Monday, the New Hanover County Democratic Party said, "although President Biden’s official visit is not campaign-related, it cannot come at a more-critical time during a more-critical election year in a more-critical place."

Prep for the polls: See who is running for president and compare where they stand on key issues in our Voter Guide

The announcement of Biden's visit comes shortly after former President Donald Trump had planned to hold a campaign event in the city, which was ultimately postponed due to weather . Trump has not yet rescheduled the event.

The last presidential visit to Wilmington was by Trump in 2020, when he named Wilmington the nation's first World War II Heritage City at Battleship North Carolina.

Biden last visited North Carolina with Vice President Kamala Harris on March 26, with the two stopping in Raleigh to talk health care.

Go beneath the streets on this tour of the spectacular, mind-bending Moscow Metro! Be awed by architecture and spot the Propaganda , then hear soviet stories from a local in the know. Finish it all up above ground, looking up to Stalins skyscrapers, and get the inside scoop on whats gone on behind those walls.

Know More about this tour

We begin our Moscow tour beneath the city, exploring the underground palace of the Moscow Metro. From the Square of Revolution station, famous for its huge statues of soviet people (an armed soldier, a farmer with a rooster, a warrior, and more), we’ll move onto some of the most significant stations, where impressive mosaics, columns, and chandeliers will boggle your eyes! Moreover, these stations reveal a big part of soviet reality — the walls depict plenty of Propaganda , with party leaders looking down from images on the walls. Your local guide will share personal stories of his/her family from USSR times, giving you insight into Russia’s complicated past and present. Then we’re coming back up to street level, where we’ll take a break and refuel with some Russian fast food: traditional pancakes, called bliny. And then, stomachs satiated, we are ready to move forward! We’ll take the eco-friendly electric trolleybus, with a route along the Moscow Garden Ring. Used mainly by Russian babushkas(grannies) during the day, the trolleybus hits peak hours in the mornings and evenings, when many locals use it going to and from their days. Our first stop will be the Aviator’s House, one of Stalin’s Seven Sisters, followed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — and you’ll hear the legends of what has gone on inside the walls. Throughout your Moscow tour, you’ll learn curious facts from soviet history while seeing how Russia exists now, 25 years after the USSR.
