In brief, the term tour refers to a period of travel where you see a defined area, whereas an excursion is a day outing made usually by a group of people to have fun which is often an adjunct to a longer journey or a tour.

Time Duration

The time spent on an excursion is usually less than the time period taken to complete a tour. You can engage in excursions while you are on tour.

The purpose of a tour or an excursion may differ from one person to another. However, basically, a tourist may look for pleasure, relaxation, education, business, sports, etc. while an excursionist would aim at socializing, pleasure, exploration, physical activities, or education.

Planning and Preparation

A tour requires pre-planning and preparation, so it takes more time to plan a tour. Excursions, on the other hand, are more sudden in nature.

Terminology Associated

A person who goes on a tour is called a tourist, whereas a person who engages in an excursion is called an excursionist.

The main difference between tour and excursion is that the time duration a tourist might take to complete his tour is quite long compared to the time an excursionist might take to complete the outing. However, both tours and excursions can be adventurous and may benefit in expanding your social network and boosting your confidence.

Key difference : The key difference between the terms ‘trip’ and ‘travel’ is based on their individual definitions wherein the term ‘trip’ is defined as the act of going to another place, for a short period of time, and returning. The term ‘tour’ is defined as the journey from one place to another over a period of days or weeks, generally a holiday.

Often, people find the terms ‘trip’ and ‘tour’ quite confusing because of their similar meanings. Though, the terms are analogous in nature and at times used interchangeably, both ‘trip’ and ‘tour’ are technically different from each other. Thus, this article further signifies the diversity between the two terms.

• A journey or voyage between two points

Thus, from the above definition, the term ‘trip’ can be referred to a short journey from one place to another with intent to return back to the point of origin. Also, trips are considered as short because trip is described as traveling to one place and then returning back to the original place on the same day. For example: the trip to the beach, the trip to the museum, or the trip to the market, etc. Now, in the given examples, the term ‘trip’ used in the sentence indicates the movement of the person and also implies on the visit made by the person. Thus, the term ‘trip’ is also used to define the purpose of the journey made by the person.

On the other hand, according to Dictionary.com, the term ‘tour’ is defined as:

• A traveling around from one place to another
• A long journey including the visiting a number of places in sequence

Based on the above definitions, the differences between the terms ‘trip’ and ‘tour’ are quite easily understandable. And, further differences between the two terms can be read in the table below.

Pga tour winner, masters broadcaster peter oosterhuis dies at age 75, share this article.

One day short of his 76th birthday, PGA Tour winner and former Masters broadcaster Peter Oosterhuis passed away on Thursday morning according to the PGA Tour .

The Englishman won the 1981 Canadian Open but was probably more known as the longtime voice of the 17th hole at Augusta National during CBS’s annual Masters coverage. Oosterhuis retired from broadcasting in 2014 to deal with early-onset of Alzheimer’s. The London native earned seven wins on the European Tour in a two-year span from 1972-74 and was the rookie of the year in 1969. He also competed on six consecutive Ryder Cup teams from 1971-1981, where he boasts an overall record of 14-11-3. He twice defeated Arnold Palmer as part of his record-tying six Sunday singles wins.

Oosterhuis was the Director of Golf at Forsgate Country Club in Jamesburg, New Jersey, and Riviera Country Club outside Los Angeles from 1987-1993 and then tried his hand at broadcasting. He worked as lead analyst for Golf Channel’s European Tour coverage and then joined CBS, where he covered the Masters from 1997-2014.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann, sons Rob and Rich, stepsons Byron and Matt and four grandchildren Peyton, Turner, Sutton and Lachlan.

South Africa confirm Sri Lanka, Pakistan to visit in 2024-25

CAPE TOWN - South Africa will host Sri Lanka for two tests and Pakistan for an all-formats tour in the 2024-25 home summer, officials confirmed on Friday, with the women’s team to play a first test on home soil since 2002 when they welcome England.

South Africa play tests against Sri Lanka in Durban and Gqeberha before Pakistan arrive for three T20s, three One Day Internationals and two tests in Pretoria and Cape Town.

Unlike earlier this year there will be no clash between any of the test series and Cricket South Africa’s flagship SA20 competition, which is vital to its financial future.

The 2024 edition overlapped with a two-test series in New Zealand, which meant South Africa controversially sent a much weakened squad for the matches and were well beaten in both.

The England women’s side will have an all-formats tour that includes three T20 matches (Nov. 24-30), three ODIs (Dec. 4-11) and a single test in Bloemfontein (Dec. 15-18).

First test: Nov. 27-Dec. 1 (Durban)

Second test: Dec. 5-9 (Gqeberha)

Pakistan tour of South Africa:

First T20: Dec. 10 (Durban)
