When we were at Crowne Plaza, a woman from the Hallmark store referred us to this visitor center for more sight-seeing suggestions while in Kansas City. The visitor center is downtown in the Power & Light District which is also a cool part of town to see. Two nice ladies helped us. They gave us some ideas of what to see and do (which included names of jazz clubs & other attractions) and we asked them a few questions about the town. Dina was the principal person who was helping us out. We asked about a good place to try some Kansas City BBQ. They named two places but they said that Jack Stack would be a good place because you get to see the trains come and go (& later that evening we went there & right they were! It was a great pick!). They gave us a map and circled several interesting places to see in town. As we chatted with them we enjoyed comparing sporting teams and the weather between California and Kansas. What I’m loving about Kansas City right now is the burgeoning beer scene. And the city is whole-heartedly embracing it.

In fact, in late January, Visit KC in partnership with Charlie Hustle announced the Kansas City Passport (Tap Tour  or #KCTapTour), a passport (this put kc on tap — pun intended) encouraging beer lovers to visit 11 area breweries. Each location in the experience features a suggested brew and beer discount.

How The Kansas City Beer Tour (Tap Tour) Works

First, you have to pick up a $5 guidebook at Visit KC, 1321 Baltimore Avenue (that’s just West of the Power & Light folks).

Then, visit each brewery, presenting your guidebook to get the necessary stamp.

Once a thirsty KC beer traveler visits five breweries (I can see myself forgetting to take my guidebook to get the required stamp. We’ll see.), you receive an exclusive #KCTapTour bottle opener. If you take a brewery tour at all 11 breweries (and get the Kansas City passport stamped), you earn a specially designed Charlie Hustle T-shirt. Plus, you get a to chance to win the Ultimate Beer Drinker’s Getaway.

The getaway is two weekend passes to Boulevardia , a two-night hotel stay, local craft beer merchandise and other goodies. And depending on what the Boulevardia passes look like, i.e. if they include Taps & Tastes, the getaway is certainly a worthy prize.

The initial program runs through May 31, 2017, and there’s talk of a second round later this summer.

Personally, I’m excited to break away from some well worn paths to certain watering holes and try out a few new breweries — and beers. The recommended Blue Bird Blueberry Creme Ale at Calibration Brewery looks to be quite the curiosity. Can’t wait.

Tap Tour Giveaway Rules

Official contest rules, eligibility.

Passholders of Season 4 of the Tap Tour that have checked-in to all 20 breweries in the Tap Tour are eligible for the drawing. Open only to individuals who are legal U.S. residents and 21 years of age or older at time of entry. Void where prohibited by law. Employees and family members of Visit KC (the “Sponsor”) and their respective subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and the immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible for this promotion. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.

The sweepstakes will begin after the conclusion of Season 4 of the Tap Tour, March 1, 2021 at 12pm CST and ends March 31, 2021 at 12pm CST.

How to Enter

Tap Tour Giveaway is only eligible for passholders that have checked-in to all breweries in the Tap Tour. Those pass holders will be subject to a drawing where they will be randomly chosen for one of the available prizes. Prizes not guaranteed.

Entries made in any fashion other than as listed above are void. The Sponsor and sponsor companies are not responsible for lost entries, interrupted or unavailable network servers or other failed telephone or computer connections and/or transmissions, miscommunications, technical failures, jumbled, scrambled or misdirected transmissions, misdirected or undelivered mail, or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical or electronic that may relate to the website or mailed entry. False or deceptive entries or acts will render the entrant ineligible. Entries become the official property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Neither Sponsor nor its agents accept correspondence or telephone inquiries regarding the status of entries or the administration of the Contest.

The winners of the prize packages are solely responsible for all transportation.

With respect to all prizes, Federal, state and local taxes, travel fees, surcharges, tips and any other travel-related fees are the sole responsibility of the winner. No substitution or cash redemption allowed except at discretion of the Sponsor. Prize is not transferable. Limit one prize per person or entry. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize with a prize of equal or greater value, if the advertised prize becomes unavailable.

The prize-winner(s) will be determined on or about  March 01, 2021 by a random drawing from all eligible entries received by the end of the Entry Period.  Odds of winning are dependent on the number of entries received.  If by reason of a printing or other error, more prizes are claimed than the number set forth in these official rules, all persons making purportedly valid claims will be included in a random drawing to award the advertised number of prizes available in the prize category in question.  No more than the advertised number of prizes will be awarded. All decisions of the Sponsor are final.

Sponsor is not responsible for technical, telephone, hardware or software malfunction, lost, interrupted, incomplete, garbled or delayed electronic communications, including the inaccurate or incorrect capture of online entry information, or any other errors of any kind, however caused, that may occur in the processing of the entries in this Sweepstakes.

If, in the Sponsor’s opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering with or alteration of any portion of the Sweepstakes, or if any technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the Sweepstakes, the Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the Sweepstakes or void any affected entries.

Redemption & Verification:

The winner(s) will be notified by telephone and email, if provided. If a winner cannot be contacted from the information provided on the registration form, the Sponsor reserves the right to select another winner in its sole discretion.  If a winner is disqualified, the Sponsor reserves the right to determine an alternate winner. If prize notification is returned as undeliverable or the winner fails to return the affidavits and release as specified, the winner will be disqualified an alternative winner will be selected.
