How Long Should You Go For?

A round-the-world trip typically takes longer than a week or two. Your world tour should not be much shorter than one month. 

With one month to go around the world, you'll probably stick to one broad region. Long trips are a great way to really learn the nuances and extensiveness of human and geological history and how pronounced they can be in a relatively small area. You'll also gain a unique insight into fascinating cultural similarities and differences.

Most trips around the world are a bit longer than one month, typically between two and four months. The number of countries and continents you'll visit on your world tour can vary quite a bit, mainly based on how you get from place to place and the length of excursion allotted for by the itinerary.

How Much Does a Trip Around the World Cost?

One of the benefits of traveling on a package tour around the world is the cost-cutting aspect. Typically, some of your meals will be covered, along with a good amount of transportation and almost all accommodations (this is an excellent reason to book a small ship cruise).

In addition, your tour will have many activities planned to explore the culture and history of each destination, as well as enjoy the natural beauty with hikes and other exciting outdoor ventures. These activities are not always included in the price, which can be a good thing as it allows you to join as many or as few activities as you'd like, depending on your preferences. 

Typically, airfare to and from the start city and ending city to your final destination is not included in the tour price, but after that, you can expect to save a lot in expenses.

Note that you'll be around the same group of people for a very extended period, and your ability to be flexible in each destination will be limited. If you want to stay longer or shorter, this isn't typically an option.

Planning a Trip Around the World on Your Own

Traveling around the world on your own is an entirely different ball game. Transportation and accommodation are usually challenging to budget around. Budget hotels can help; however, finding a good deal can be tiresome. Travel agents can help, but this typically comes with a premium.

Certain airlines offer special round-the-world tickets, which could be an excellent way to book an independent trip around the world if you have miles to cash in. Otherwise, you're a bit stuck with the one-way ticket route. Try booking smaller airlines and shorter flights to keep costs manageable.

Choosing your destination and activities also requires a ton of research. You could spend a hefty amount of time trying to plan this yourself.

How To Pack for a Trip Around the World?

Ironically, you will be better off packing less than more for a longer journey. As you'll be on the move, you want a lighter suitcase and backpack to deal with. It's both more comfortable to move and far easier to store.

That's one significant benefit of traveling by cruise when you go around the world: the luxury of only unpacking once and being able to do laundry on board. You can lock your stateroom, so there's no worry about theft as you roam the boat and enjoy your shore excursions.

For example, in most Middle Eastern countries, expect to dress modestly—cover shoulders and legs and keep a scarf handy for covering your head. 7 Day Southwest National Parks Grand Canyon Camping Tour

We recently completed the 7-day Southwest Highlights tour. Everything about the tour exceeded our expectations. The itinerary, accommodations and the travel experience were first rate. Our tour guide, Marie, was so knowledgeable, informative and well organized. She kept us updated about the schedule and activities for each day, provided a fantastic picnic lunch spread for each day, and was a wealth of knowledge regarding each area that we visited, as well as the history of the people. We learned so much from her! We would definitely recommend Bindlestiff and hope to use them again in the future.

Alaska Kenai & Denali Adventure

Our Chief Experience Officer Brianna Collins made our trip so special, memorable, enjoyable, and easy! She had everything planned out perfectly and was very punctual! She had a great attitude, positive energy, sense of humor, and was very professional and accommodating! If you get a chance to take a tour with Brianna Collins as your Chief Experience Officer, you will be very glad you did!

7 day Southwest National Parks Grand Canyon Tour

The tour was great and our guide Marie was well organized, informative and fun. It started badly when my friend and I who registered separately but clearly indicated we were travelling together and would be sharing a room were assigned to different buses. I don't know if the problem was with Tourradar or Bindlestiff or just a communication problem between the two companies but this was very upsetting. The two Bindlestiff guides worked it out so we were able to travel together as planned but it was a bad way to start the trip. In the future I would probably register directly with the tour operator to avoid issues like this.

Hiking Utah's Mighty 5

Tour itinerary was well planned in order to see and hike Utah’s Big 5 National parks in 9 days. Our guide Rachel was excellent and did her best to manage 12 clients, drive, buy food, supervise food preparations and clean up, and break camp. However, given the amount of organization needed for camping, meals and driving required; and overseeing the often difficult and strenuous hikes, it would have been a better trip if there were 2 guides instead of only one. This trip went very well because we were an older group with many professionals with administration experience who pitched in to help the trip go smoothly. If a group on this tour does not blend as well as we did, don’t pitch in to do their share of work, and/or do not have experience working as a-team with administration experience, it may not go so well or more likely be a disaster. To avoid this, better to have 2 guides.

The tour is good and the 2 days hotel is good too. The travel time during tour is a bit long.

California Express - 3 Days

We did not see route 1 and the city of Carmel as it was written in the itinarary. The guide did not give much information about the places we visited. But overall it was a good tour.

Mighty 5 From Las Vegas

Mighty Five is an excellent tour for the money. Our guide, Vicky, was knowledgeable, accommodating and as sweet as the pie we enjoyed at Capital Reef. We had a wonderfully magical experience in each park and a small friendly group. The walking/hiking activities are optional and for all levels of fitness. Transportation was comfortable, but often long, so be prepared. Hotels/motels were clean and convenient, and can be far from good options. Moab was the only stop with numerous food options. My advice would be to find a market and purchase some portable emergency food if you need it. All motels have microwaves and refrigerators. Lastly, tip your guide well, at least $25 per day, and if you are a couple that means each!

Yellowstone / Grand Teton 4 Day / 3 Night Wildlife Adventure

This trip was fantastic! The group totaled 4 plus the guide Cade. We were not disappointed in wildlife viewing. We saw Black wolves, elk, big horn sheep and bison were up close and personal. Cade is an excellent guide and the trip would not have been the same without him. Cade knows both Teton and Yellowstone National parks like the back of his hand. He answers all questions and is an easy person to be around. Did I mention black bears, moose, Old Faithful and more. Fantastic trip! For birders, the bald eagle feasting on carcass and several other raptors. But, communication from Brushbuck is only when necessary for them. Don't let it stop you though. Hotels were luxe and transportation too. Loved it!

Mighty 5 From Salt Lake City

It was the best vaycay ever! So very zen with having to focus in the moment on footing, surroundings, other hikers in the vicinity. Amazing group of people with similar ages and abilities. Steve was a perfect guide. He is definitely doing what he was born to do, and doing it very well. Some of the hotels could have been better (breakfast wise) but that wasn't a big deal (not why I went) as we were not there for very long. Courtyard Marriott in SLC was the worst of the lot but otherwise....awesome!!!! So EXCELLENT

Western USA National Parks Loop

We had a wonderful tour. Our tour guide was John Harris, he did an outstanding job making sure everyone had a great experience, had enough water and went out of his way too accommodate everyone’s dietary needs. We would highly recommend taking this tour, leave all the worries to your tour guide just sit back be driven to all the parks with lunch and snacks provided each day. Great way to experience the parks.

Yellowstone and Grand Tetons Adventure

Tim was a great tour guide. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and always upbeat. Time with the wildlife expert was phenomenal. the tour itself was excellent. The good ranking has to do with communications from Intrepid Travel, which were poor and lead to changed air flights and other headaches.

Majestic Alaska (10 Days)

It was an awesome tour. Saw and did so much. I would recommend Trafalgar to tour with. We are booked next year for The Colorful Trails of the SW in September. I want to say our tour director,Tyler Browning, is one of the best guides we have had. He is personable, friendly, caring, very knowledgeable and on top of everything. He is GREAT!

Alaska Adventure - 20 Days

Infinite Adventures is the very very best!!!! We typically do a long trip every year and this one was the best we have ever done. My wife and two kids absolutely loved it. Dave, Tory, Nat, and Ellie made it very easy to enjoy Alaska's great outdoors without us having to plan or find the best spots. They know all the little details that made it fun. Their sense of humor was also a huge plus. After a day hiking glaciers or bear watching the camp sight was always fun and dinners/food was always on point. Natalie and Ellie made best scrambled eggs ever. Tory and Dave made best Salmon dinner's (they deserve at least one Michelin star). The bus ride was also fun, comfortable with good conversation and great music (Nat, please more ABBA next time LOL). Also, the group travel angle was great fun as we got to meet and bond with people from all over the world. Really wonderful group of people. We will definitely be doing another trip in future with Infinite Adventures and highly recommend it to others.

Being a senior, I discovered that tent camping has become a significant challenge. That said, the tour was an awesome experience. The sites were chosen for maximum beauty and immersion in raw nature. Dave and Natalie know the areas well and were well organized. Yan and Kiki were so very helpful and detail oriented. Thanks for a great and memorable experience.

What people love about Western USA Tours

We thoroughly enjoyed the 7-day tour of the US southwest . We love the destinations included in the tour, every place we visited is on our bucket list. I wanted to pinch myself every day that I visited those iconic and beautiful places as shown in my photos below. We enjoyed all the extra, optional experiences that were suggested by the tour guide. They added more fun to the tour. The Hummer tour in Moab, Utah was one of the optional experiences and it was a blast! Not only it’s fun, you get to see the amazing scenery during the sunset. One previous review mentioned he or she was forced to participate in the Navajo taco dinner in Monument Valley. That comment is not true. You have a choice not to do that and the guide can make a different arrangement for you. The optional Navajo taco dinner is one of the highlights of the tour that we will remember for a long time. It would be a shame not to have this cultural experience when you get to meet Navajo people when you are in the Navajo Nation! Our tour guide, John did a fantastic job. He was full of enthusiasm and energy. He kept the tour well organized and always provided information we needed. We highly recommend the tour.

Deposits, Final Payments & Cancellation Penalties:

*Any request for name substitution represents a cancellation and release of space. Any substitutions accepted represent new bookings subject to the rates available at the time of substitution.

*It is recommended that clients purchase comprehensive travel insurance at time of booking.

Due to limited coach capacity and weight restrictions, this single bag should not exceed 30x21x11 inches or 50 lbs. Please be advised that stricter luggage allowances may be in place for other methods of transportation such as safari vehicles, flights, and cruises, please check with them.

Hand luggage must not exceed 12x11x6 in. and should be soft sided (backpack or tote bag) to fit in the small overhead compartment. The overhead compartments are smaller on a motorcoach than on a plane.

Fuel Surcharges:  Fuel surcharges shown or included in pricing are accurate at the time of printing but are subject to change up until the time of departure.

Aircraft Seating:  Generic advance seating is completed by the airline. Individual seat selection is not permitted. You may not always be seated with your travel companion. Group air  when offered  is an option. 

Travellers needing special assistance : Persons requiring assistance must be accompanied by a companion who will be fully responsible for their needs while on tour.

Hotels:  Requests for specific room designations (non-smoking, near the elevator, etc.) cannot be guaranteed and will not be accepted within 30 days of departure. WestWorld Tours & Women Xplorers will do our best to accommodate requests, however, we cannot be held responsible for requests not realized.

Itinerary : Itinerary including times, attractions and accommodations are subject to change without notice.

Singles:  We will endeavor to accommodate requests for a travelling companion but cannot guarantee.

Seating:  A seat rotation is in place, whereby passengers will change seats so that all will enjoy a variety of views. Singles or triples will not be guaranteed a seat to themselves on the motorcoach.

7 Locations You Can Visit to Experience ‘Westworld’ in Real Life

The red rock formations, the vast valleys and prairies, the rambling streams, and the great big blue sky — the vistas of HBO’s sci-fi western Westworld are WAY stunning. As much as we’d love to go to the land occupied by Dolores Abernathy , Maeve Millay, and Teddy Flood, we think we can all agree we could do without all that senseless murder, mayhem, and debauchery of the on-screen Sweetwater, especially if we’re on vacay. Thankfully, there are far safer and saner ways to have a Westworld inspired adventure — a totally perfect way to celebrate the much-anticipated return of Season 2 .

1. Dead Horse Point State Park , Moab, Utah: This dusty and dramatic city of Moab has been a favorite for filmmakers for years, serving as a location in movies like Thelma and Louise and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade , and western classics such as Stagecoach , Wagon Master, and Rio Grande . The area proved to be perfect for Westworld. A large part of the exteriors was shot in Moab — the gateway to those iconic massive red rock leading to Arches National Park. Twenty-five minutes from Moab is Castle Valley, an area where many overhead shots for Westworld were captured. Nearby Fisher Valley is another area that saw a fair share of action. Also of note is Dead Horse Point State Park, which was used for a variety of sweeping shots of the amusement park as well as that unforgettable scene when Ed Harris (The Man in Black) scalps a robotic “host.” (Photo via Getty)

2. Moab, Utah (Part 2): Make your own home on the range by nabbing a western themed vacation rental like this incredible architectural masterpiece in Moab. The two bedroom home is located right across from Fisher Towers and the Colorado River with horseback riding on the premises. On one side of the home, it looks like a wooden old-timey saloon, but on the other, it’s a modern architectural marvel. Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

We had a great time both in Moscow and St Petersburg. Your travel agency was excellent in coordinating the whole trip. Everything worked like clockwork.
