Revo 18|36 Lathe 220V

The first feature that will catch your attention is undoubtedly the ergonomic angled control panel made from anodized aluminum. The blue hue of the DRO along with the beautiful knurled control knob fitted with a rubber grip signals this is no ordinary lathe. The bed is made from steel, allowing the cast iron headstock to travel incredibly smoothly. Steel is the preferred material due to its well-known longevity & strength. Electronic variable speed is obtained via a VFD that converts 1 phase input to 3 phase output, so even at low settings, you will get an incredible amount of torque. The DRO gives you an accurate RPM readout whenever any fine adjustments are made electronically. Changing from high to low settings is made easy by using the quick release handle. The headstock & tailstock lock handles are situated on the back to eliminate any interruptions to your workflow. Ergonomically designed handles use a cam lock resulting in a firm feel with no deflection.

Wood Turning Basics

A Look Into The Wood Turner's World Basic to Advanced Wood Turning

Wood Turning Basics

Reviewing The Laguna Revo 18|36 Woodturning Lathe

Great middle of the line woodturning lathe

It’s time to step up. That is, I need or want a more powerful wood lathe!

I wish I could win the lottery …but that would mean I would have to play it and I don’t think they payout in Illiois because the state is so corrupt and broke 🙁

Great middle of the line woodturning lathe

I think you could spend up to $10,000 or more on a super wood lathe . I won’t be doing that! I had no idea they could cost that much. I was originally thinking maybe $1,500 to $2,500, but then I saw some very nice machines in the $4,000 dollar range.

A New Wood Lathe for More Power

I’m only dreaming right now but my little harbor freight lathe really can’t handle very big bowls and if I try to get a little aggressive on my cuts it will slow down or stop.

A more powerful wood lathe is actually safer. You can safely turn larger bowls and other projects. You can have more control of the speed. There are more accessories available. Your woodturning tools will work better because you have more control over the speed at which the project turns.

So, I thought as I do some research I would post the information here on the wood lathe upgrades I’ve come across. The first one is a Laguna Revo 18|36 Woodturning Lathe . I have some Laguna equipment and tools, the 14″ SUV bandsaw is outstanding in quality and performance …so I was thinking about staying with Laguna.

Laguna Revo 18|36 Woodturning Lathe

A couple woodturners I know have the Revo 18|36 and they love the machine. They have so much good to say that I almost decided I would save for this Laguna model and not do anymore research. When talking wood turning tools , Laguna fits in with all the old timers. At the time the 18|36 was the largest model that Laguna produced.

Much to my surprise as I was researching the Laguna Revo 18×36 I discovered that Laguna has come out with a new wood lathe called the Laguna Revo 24-36 Wood Lathe W502131 MLAREVO 24-0180 and is 3hp as opposed to the 18-36 which is 2hp. Of course I would rather have the newer and bigger one but at $1000 to $1500 more I will probably be lucky to get the 18-36 …and I’m not complaining. One nice thing about getting the Revo 18-36 is that it’s been around for a while and all the kinks have been worked out …..making it a beautiful machine!

But I can still hope and pray that a Laguna Revo 24-36 Wood Lathe W502131 MLAREVO 24-0180 someday lands in my shop 🙂

Check out this video on the Laguna Revo 18-36 and below the video you’ll find some specs.

The newly redesigned Laguna Revo 18|36 lathe is a serious contender in the professional grade woodturning lathe market. From it’s user-friendly ergonomic design, cast iron and steel construction, and beautifully machined components to the blue hue of the illuminated control panel, it’s clear that the Laguna Revo 18|36 is a serious competitor that’s here to win over even the most discriminating woodturner.

If you’re looking for a well-built, premium quality lathe with all the features you’d expect to find on lathes costing much more, give the Laguna 18|36 a serious look today, you’ll be glad you did.

• Electronic variable speed from 50-3,500 RPM • Easy to read digital RPM readout • Premium quality electronic controls • 100% accurate center alignment guaranteed • Automatic knock out tailstock • Cast iron & steel construction • Dual work light mounts • Swing away tailstock bracket (optional)

If you think you might like to get Laguna Revo 18|36 you can get a very good price and free shipping at Rockler.com

See who won YouTube qualifier for Myrtle Beach Classic

Change Text Size

Several popular YouTubers had a chance to earn a spot at the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic via “The Q at Myrtle Beach,” a 16-player, 18-hole qualifier that included YouTubers such as Grant Horvat, Peter Finch, Micah Morris and George Bryan IV.

Veteran Korn Ferry Tour pro Matt Atkins won the qualifier and will compete on TOUR next month in his home state of South Carolina. Atkins appears frequently in Bryan Bros Golf YouTube content (a joint venture between George and his brother, Wesley), where Atkins, 33, is known affectionately as “Crashkins” – a term that often appears in comments when he is covered on TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour social channels.

Bryan IV didn't make it easy for Atkins, though. Bryan led by two strokes to the par-5 18th hole but hit a wedge into the water and made bogey. Atkins drained a 15-foot birdie at No. 18 to match Bryan's 3-under 69, requiring a playoff hole, again the par-5 18th. Atkins won with a birdie on the first playoff hole, earning the Myrtle Beach Classic's sponsor exemption that was awarded via "The Q."

Tyler Watts finished in third place at 1-under 71, while Scott Stevens and Jay Card tied for fourth at even-par 72. Finch and Turk Pettit shared sixth place at 1-over 73. Other scores included Morgan Deneen (74), Dan Rapaport (76), Ryan Wilkinson (76), Jamie Wilson (77), Luke Kwon (78), Grant Horvat (79), Fat Perez (81), Cole Lantz (83) and Micah Morris (86).

The inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic will be contested May 9-12 at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, as an Additional Event alongside the Wells Fargo Championship. “The Q” was contested last month, with players capturing content for their personal social channels but withholding results until Tuesday, with a full-length feature video released on the Play Golf Myrtle Beach YouTube channel.

Atkins has made 157 career Korn Ferry Tour starts, including a victory at the 2017 El Bosque Mexico Championship, which propelled him to his first TOUR card via the 2017 Korn Ferry Tour season-long standings. He is playing this season on conditional Korn Ferry Tour status; he will compete at this week’s Veritex Bank Championship after successfully Monday qualifying. He also Monday qualified for the TOUR’s Mexico Open at Vidanta earlier this year (his 26th career TOUR start), and he finished T38 at The RSM Classic last fall as a Monday qualifier, where he spoke emotionally about what it means to pursue a professional golf career amidst financial uncertainty.

Atkins will have no status uncertainty next month in South Carolina. He’ll compete at the Myrtle Beach Classic via “The Q.”

The House Tours

18:36:54 House

18.36.54 House

‘Opulent’ and ‘unconventional’ are the two adjectives that best define 18:36:54 House by Studio Libeskind Architects in Connecticut, USA. Also known as the 6:36:54 p.m. House, its name is as intriguing as its architecture. The angular geometry appended in its architecture illustrates that the design is a well-calculated risk, yet achievement.

To elucidate, these numerals come from the use of 18 planes, 36 points, and 54 lines in the spiraling ribbon. Besides, all of the design elements are a result of the single fold plan design conception.

As requested by the client, the external facades wear an opulent look with glazed and bronzed stainless steel. However, the interiors are much cozier with an abundance of white oak. Most of the pieces in the house from the cabinetry to built-in furniture are handcrafted from local oak.  The 18:36:54 House has a porch on all sides, and also panoramic views of the Connecticut meadows.

The wood complements the by glass walls, which also connects to the outer landscape that houses 250-year-old oak trees. Though it may make little sense from the outline, subtle elevation changes have been employed to distinguish different areas. The floor plan of 18:36:54 House includes a vast library blended with the living area. Additionally, you will also see a slightly private dining area and master bedroom.

2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson Full Field: Jordan Spieth Headlines in Texas

Four players in the top 30 are playing one week before a signature event and two weeks before the PGA Championship.

  • Author: John Schwarb

The PGA Tour rolls on to one of its most historic events, albeit one that won’t exactly have a historically strong field.

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson is an interesting Tour amalgam of a name, with the CJ Cup originally having been a Tour stop in South Korea before moving back to the U.S. Rory McIlroy won the last two, in 2021 in Las Vegas and 2022 in South Carolina. But after AT&T discontinued its sponsorship following the 2023 event (AT&T continues to sponsor the Pebble Beach Pro-Am), the CJ Cup name found a new home.

Byron Nelson needs no introduction. The legendary Texan ranks sixth all-time in Tour wins with 52, including 11 in a row in 1945. In 1944 he won the Texas Victory Open, which in 1968 became the Byron Nelson Golf Classic. His name has been affixed to the Dallas-area stop ever since, and for years he greeted the winner off the 18th green. He died in 2006 at age 94.

His namesake event continues but in a compromised part of the Tour schedule. The second week of April of course was the Masters and immediately after that was the signature event RBC Heritage. Next week’s Wells Fargo Championship is another signature event, followed by the PGA Championship.

All that means there aren’t many household names teeing it up at TPC Craig Ranch. Native Texan Jordan Spieth is the highest-ranked player in the world rankings at No. 20, and Jason Day, Tom Kim and Will Zalatoris are the only players inside the top 30.

But valuable FedEx Cup points and a $9.5 million purse are up for grabs for the field of 156, plus the ability to play one’s way into Wells Fargo and the season’s second major.

Here’s the full field for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson from the PGA Tour. Keep an eye on this Twitter post all week for any field adjustments.

PGA Tour Champions records: Lowest 18-, 36-, 54- and 72-hole scores

18 36 tour

In the history of the the PGA Tour Champions, the 72-hole scoring record belongs to one player -- the only player to break 260 for four rounds in an event.

Most PGA Tour Champions events -- except for the majors and the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs -- are 54 holes. However, on the rare occasion the 50-plus senior circuit plays four rounds, the guys still take it deep. Tom Lehman holds the 72-hole scoring record on PGA Tour Champions, shooting 22-under 258 to win the 2012 Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

Kenny Perry and Jack Nicklaus own the 72-hole scoring record in a PGA Tour Champions major, both setting the mark in the Senior Players Championship. Jack Nicklaus shot 27-under 261 in 1990, and Perry shot 19-under 261 to win the 2013 edition of the event. To this day, Nicklaus' 27-under score is by far the lowest against par in a 72-hole event.

In the normal 54-hole PGA Tour Champions events, the lowest score is 191, shot six times in PGA Tour Champions history -- most recently by Phil Mickelson in winning in his PGA Tour Champions debut at Ozarks National Golf Course in the Charles Schwab Series at Bass Pro Shops Big Cedar Lodge in August 2020. Before that, Rocco Mediate shot 191 to win the 2013 Shaw Charity Classic in Canada. In 72-hole events, the lowest first 54 holes is 192, shot by Steve Stricker in the first three rounds of the 2019 US Senior Open at Warren Golf Course at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.

Most golf fans also know the lowest 18-hole score ever recorded on PGA Tour Champions is 59. Kevin Sutherland is the only player to break 60 on PGA Tour Champions, shooting 13-under 59 in the second round of the 2014 Dick's Sporting Goods Open at En-Joie Golf Club in New York.

The other significant scoring records in PGA Tour Champions, the 36-hole scoring record, was set by Bruce Fleisher when he shot 16-under 124 in the first two rounds of the 2002 RJR Championship.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hannah Green won the LPGA Tour’s JM Eagle LA Championship for the second straight year Sunday, holing out twice from off the greens in a pivotal back-nine stretch at challenging Wilshire Country Club.

A year after making a 25-foot birdie on the final hole of regulation and winning on the second hole of a playoff, Green — with help from Maja Stark — took the late drama out of this one for her fifth LPGA Tour victory and second of the year.

“It wasn’t as a eventful as the last couple days. I was nervous,” Green said. “And I’ve never been able to win having a lead into the last hole like that, so it is nice to be able to get it done earlier in the round.”

Green closed with a 5-under 66 to beat Stark by three strokes. The 27-year-old Australian, also the winner early last month in Singapore, finished at 12-under 272 on the tree-lined layout with poa annua greens that become bumpy late in the day.

“It’s really kind to me,” Green said about the course. “I felt like a couple times today almost got like a member bounce. I, obviously, really am fond of the golf club and joked that they didn’t approve it with me that they were making alterations. I love it here.”

Green began the key run with a chip-in birdie on the par-3 12th and made a 6-foot birdie putt on the par-5 13th. Then, after Stark bogeyed the par-4 16th two groups ahead, Green ran in a 25-footer for eagle from the fringe on 15 to open a four-stroke lead, and made it 5 under in five holes with a birdie on 16.

“When I chipped in on 12 I kind of felt like I really snagged one there,” Green said. “I really like the 13th hole and also played the 15th really well. When I made eagle on 15 that kind of sealed the deal. I did see Maja got it to 9 under so I know what I needed to do. Usually, I make it really tricky on myself and only win by a shot.”

Stark finished with a 68, rebounding from the bogey on 16 to birdie the final two holes. The 24-year-old Swede also finished second last week outside Houston in The Chevron Championship, two strokes behind top-ranked Nelly Korda in the first major of the year.

“I’m really proud of the way I’ve played,” Stark said. “I feel like I’ve hit a lot of good shots and I feel like my nerves kind of took over for a little while, but I was always able to get back to the normal — my normal state of mind.”

Haeran Ryu (69) was third at 6 under, followed by fellow South Korean players Jin Young Ko (67) and Jin Hee Im (72) at 5 under.

Grace Kim, four strokes ahead entering weekend after opening rounds of 64 and 66 and tied with Green for the lead after a third-round 76, finished with a 77 to tie for 25th at 1 under. She failed to make a birdie the final two days.

Korda withdrew from the Los Angeles event Monday, a day after her record-tying fifth straight victory.

‘18.36.54 home’ by daniel libeskind, connecticut, united statesimage © nikolas koenig

located on a 54 acre meadow in connecticut surrounded by 250 year-old oak trees and historic low stacked stone walls, the ‘18.36.54 house’ by daniel libeskind uses a faceted structure to frame dynamic views from all angles of the site. photographer  nikolas koenig has shared exclusive imageswith us showing the various angles of the project. the 2000 square-foot home is conceived as a continuously folding ribbon structure of 18 planes, 36 points and 54 lines. its outer skin is comprised of reflective copper panels, continuing the natural material palette as it stands visibly independent of its surroundings. the interior is rendered in deep-toned wooden planks that provide a warm elegant feel to the interior. the wrapping envelope that defines the boundaries of the residence is the basis for all the components of the house, infilled with almost hidden glazed panes that allow fragmented views or entry points for indirect light. the interior reads as a unified volume, where the ribbon intrudes into the ground plane, subtly marking the distinction of programmatic elements or serving multiple purposes as the roof plane folds down into a partition which extends into a piece of furniture.

2 dead, 1 hurt after 350,000-pound load detaches from 18-wheeler and pins vehicle in Texas

18 36 tour

Two people are dead and one person is in critical condition after an oversized load disconnected from an 18-wheeler Saturday and pinned a vehicle beneath it in Temple, Texas.

Emergency crews responded to the incident about 90 minutes north of Austin at 11:20 a.m. and found the load − which weighed 350,000 pounds − on top of a vehicle carrying three people at the intersection of Highway 36 and 317, according to Temple Fire & Rescue's Facebook page. The Temple Police Department was also called to the scene.

It took EMS four hours to safely remove the driver of the vehicle. He was then flown to Baylor Scott & White Health with life-threatening injuries, officials told USA TODAY.

Police told USA TODAY that an investigation is still underway but declined to comment further.

Police ask that anyone with information regarding the incident call the Temple Police Department at 254-298-5500 or the Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477, which does accept anonymous tips.

Tips can also be sent anonymously through bellcountycrimestoppers.com.
