AIR to play classic ‘Moon Safari’ in full for first time at UK and European shows
Tickets for the "one night only experience" across eight cities go on sale later this week
AIR have announced a 2024 UK and European tour that will see the French duo perform their debut album ‘Moon Safari’ in its entirety for the first time.
- READ MORE: Does Rock ‘N’ Roll Kill Braincells?! – Nicolas Godin, Air
Having celebrated its 25th anniversary earlier this year, Air will tour their ‘One Night Only’ experience for ‘Moon Safari’ in February and March, which will include a show at London’s Coliseum.
The tour – which will be the first time ever the duo have performed the 1998 album live – will kick off at Anitgel at Victoria Hall in Geneva, Switzerland, continuing on to Milan, Vienna, Belgium, Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam, before concluding in London.
Pre-sale starts this Thursday (November 16) at 10am local time, while general sale goes live Friday (November 17) at 10am local time. You can buy tickets for the London show here , and all remaining dates here .
“We were a duo doing some electronic thing, dreaming of selling 10,000 copies and being recognised by other musicians as cool,” said Jean-Benoît Dunckel of the record in a press statement. “Then suddenly, we met the world.”
‘Moon Safari’ featured singles ‘Kelly Watch The Stars’, ‘All I Need’ and ‘Sexy Boy’, and sold millions of copies around the world.
Recommended
Dunckel described his album as “a deep, universal spell, full of love and mystery”, while his sidekick Nicolas Godin said that, to him, “Moon Safari is perfect”.
Air’s ‘Moon Safari’ 2024 tour dates are:
FEBRUARY 24 – Anitgel @ Victoria Hall, Geneva, Switzerland 25 – Fabrique, Milan, Italy 27 – Wiener Konzerthaus, Vienna, Austria 29 – De Roma, Antwerp, Belgium
MARCH 02 – Theater Des Westen, Berlin, Germany 07 – L’olympia, Paris, France 08 – Paradiso, Amsterdam, Netherlands 24 – London Coliseum, London, UK
News of the tour comes after Air announced a 25th anniversary vinyl reissue of ‘Moon Safari’ back in January . They also celebrated 20 years of its 2001 follow-up ’10 000Hz Legend’ with a reissue in 2021.
Air’s last studio album, ‘Le Voyage Dans La Lune’ , came out in 2012.
Asked by NME in 2019 whether there would be another record, Godin said that he was concerned about ruining the band’s “magic” by releasing a “substandard album”.
“If we’re able to find that magic, we’ll go into the studio,” he continued. “But if not, we’ll move aside and let other people make those magic records.”

Great comfort, right to my size
Great shoe for me
Khalil696265215 - Apr 06, 2024
Very comfortable shoe that makes HIIT workouts awesome. The toe area is not stiff for anything like Bulgarian Splits or Mountain Climbers but I don’t mind that. Sometimes in HIIT classes we are required to run and it’s not comfortable in the METCON’s. I use METCON for gym only lifting and these for HIIT. I have the bone colored pair and these and they get dirty fast doing HIIT but I have good shoe cleaner and stain repellent but I also bought the Black Pair. I really like the sturdiness and cushion, bouncy feel they have because it relieves pressure on the knees and back. Great shoe and awesome design!!!! ...

Queen Idia’s Air: Saturation, Conditioning and Power
22 April 2024, 2:00 pm–3:00 pm
Breathing In: Air and Atmospheres Seminar with Dr Ruth Sacks, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. This seminar series is run jointly by the IAS and WiSER at Wits, and takes place fortnightly on Zoom.

This paper embraces what reading for air can bring to a narrative of how a 16th century portrait of Queen Idia appears in Lagos. Likenesses of the legendary Edo queen have been fashioned in Benin tradition since her time (including in ivory and bronze). In Lagos, she is present and powerful in various visible manifestations. Queen Idia’s portrait slowly corrodes in laden air as part of the stadium built for FESTAC 77, the post independence festival of African culture for which she was claimed as an Afrofuturist figurehead. Her expression exudes serenity on carvings at dusty open air tourist markets, sometimes fashioned in fragrant woods. As graffiti-ed stencils in the city centre, she visibly bears the condensation of polluted particles. The warrior queen’s power over the spirit world, symbolically rendered in the crown of ocean symbols she customarily wears, melds her to an urban fabric saturated with more than human beings. Idia leads us into hierarchies of air, from the hermeneutic sealing of artworks in air-conditioned museums, which cuts off their breath, to the particular weathering of those buildings Lagos allows to stay standing. My thinking draws on Nnedi Okafor’s science fiction novel Lagoon (2015), where air-travelling interplanetary visitors challenge human perceptions of matter and spirit.
Breathing In: Air and Atmospheres Seminar
This seminar series, run jointly by the IAS and WiSER (Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research, University of the Witwatersrand) takes place fortnightly on Zoom. It builds on ongoing and emergent academic attention to air and atmospheres and draws out suggestions for future research and for ways of acting upon the contemporary air and atmospheric crisis, with a leading focus on global South contexts.
Recent work on infrastructures, atmospheres and the biospheric shifts associated with conditions of the Anthropocene have relied on rendering newly vivid those aspects of the social which have long been treated as background. Sensory ecologies - affective or experienced space which compose environments, in Matthew Gandy’s terms, are synesthetic: like sounds, they reverberate within human and more-than-human subjects. Affective atmospheres are shared bodily situations , drawing also on renewed and shifting elemental understandings of air and refracted light. How can we come conceptually closer to the toxicities of both air pollution and rising authoritarianisms, to material and metaphoric atmospheres – and other less-than-visible carriers of damage? And to a better sense of the entanglements and relationalities that such modes of thought can produce? The growing non-transparency of air, in Sumana Roy’s terms, produces paranoid reading: suspicious, anticipatory theories of negative affect. This occurs in the context of the ‘disappearance of air’ in favour of mask filters, air purifiers and the AQI (Air Quality Index) for those who can afford it. Yet there may also be a reparative range to these questions: making air explic ative might offer analytic opportunities for sustenance and responsiveness to what is to come.

Topeka Collegiate’s third-grade class to host tours of crafted rainforest exhibit
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka Collegiate’s third-grade class will host tours of their crafted rainforest exhibit.
According to Topeka Collegiate officials, this week, the project is a culmination of their immersive class curriculum.
Topeka Collegiate officials said students have transformed a spacious classroom into a vibrant representation of a rainforest, complete with hand-made animals, live plants, and a water feature.
Topeka Collegiate officials indicated the public is invited to embark on a captivating tour from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., running through Friday, and on Earth Night, April 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“In third grade, we delve deep into geography, exploring the diverse ecosystems of our planet,” said Mrs. Kido, third grade teacher. “The rainforest unit holds a special place in our curriculum, offering invaluable insights into these regions’ biodiversity and environmental significance.”
According to Topeka Collegiate officials, each student has grown a plant for the rainforest and as a Mother’s Day gift, fostering a deeper connection to nature and nurturing a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Drawing inspiration from reputable sources such as the Rainforest Alliance and an overnight visit to the Lied Jungle rainforest environment at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium in Omaha, Nebraska, students selected a rainforest animal to research and craft for the exhibit. Furthermore, they have diligently studied rainforest facts to impart during the tours.
“This unit not only aligns with but also reinforces our school’s Core Competencies,” said Dr. Lyn Rantz, Head of School. “Our students evolve into effective communicators, refining their public speaking skills while guiding visitors through the rainforest. They hone their research skills as they delve into the intricacies of different ecosystems worldwide. Together, our third-grade students work to build a rainforest that serves as a platform to share about the importance of our environment and the conservation of all rainforests.”
Topeka Collegiate officials noted this year marks the 20th anniversary of this class project, coinciding with the school’s Earth Night. Collaborating with volunteers from the Topeka Zoo and Topeka and Shawnee Co. Public Library , Mrs. Kido’s third-grade class is gearing up for an engaging and family-friendly evening celebrating the wonders of the rainforest. The event will feature interactive activity stations alongside the rainforest exhibit, promising an enriching experience for attendees of all ages.
