Port of Miami Cruise Parking (Where to Park): Prices, Profiles, & Map

As the busiest cruise port in the world, Miami sees its fair share of passengers driving in for their vacation. Of course, that means that they need a place to park.

Parking garage at the Port of Miami.

Located on Dodge Island, which is just across the bridge from downtown Miami, the cruise terminals are in a busy area of town where parking space is at a premium. Still, if you need to park for your cruise, then you’ll have no problem finding a spot. The port itself offers convenient parking right at the ship, but it comes at a steep price.

That’s why it pays to know your options. Prices vary considerably, based mainly on convenience to the port.

As a rule of thumb, the closer you park to the ship, the more costly it will be. The most expensive parking is located right at the port but is also the easiest to use. Luckily, there are other options if you are a bargain hunter.

(Note: If you are planning to spend a night in the area, check out our page of Port of Miami hotels with cruise parking   or Miami hotels with port shuttles . These hotels can help you save money on parking or transportation to the port.)

In This Article...

Miami Cruise Parking Lot Costs

Prices for parking can vary widely. The Port of Miami charges $22 per day ($25-$28 if sailing Royal Caribbean), while independent lots typically charge between $11-12 per day. One thing to keep in mind is that taxes and fees at independent lots can add several dollars each day to your cost.

Note: There are a number of parking lots that show up on some third-party websites, but are difficult to find reliable information about. We’ve left those options off our list.

Official Port of Miami Parking Lots (Recommended)

Garage G at Port of Miami

While it is the priciest option, we recommend that cruise passengers simply park at the official port lots. Not only is it the most convenient with the ability to park right at the ship, but it is also the most reliable option we’ve found. There is a garage located right near each cruise terminal.

For the convenience of parking here, be prepared to pay the price. Overnight parking for most terminals is $22 per night. Parking at Royal Caribbean’s Terminal A is $25 per night for sailings of six days or more. The rate is $28 per day for cruises of five days or less.

Parking is available for oversized vehicles, but will cost extra and is in only one lot, across from Terminal E (which may or may not be convenient to your ship). Credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Amex, and Discover, as well as cash and traveler’s checks are accepted. However, debit cards are not.

Parking comes in both covered (parking garage) and uncovered lots. The good news is that there are several options for where to park, so you can always find a lot that’s near your cruise ship. Simply follow the signs to your ship as you arrive at the port and you’ll find the parking lot or garage nearby.

Here’s a map with each lot and garage labeled:

Want to save some money? Disabled passengers in vehicles with specialized equipment (such as lifts or foot/hand controls) and those with Florida disabled veteran license plates can park for free. Click here for more details , or you can call the port at 305-347-4800.

  • Cost: $22 per day | $25-$28 per day at Terminal A (Royal Caribbean)
  • Distance: At terminal
  • Website: http://www.miamidade.gov/portmiami/parking-information.asp

Independent Parking Lots

In addition to the port, there are several options from independent parking lots in the area.

Safe Cruise Parking Safe Cruise Parking offers a good deal, covered garage parking, and 24/7 security. That’s a pretty compelling offer for a rate that’s considerably less than the cruise parking lots at the port.

Prices are $11 per day, but keep in mind you are charged for both the day you arrive and the day you leave. So if you arrive on a Saturday for a 7-day cruise and then leave the next Saturday, you’ll be charged for eight days. As well, taxes and fees increase the cost. For a week-long cruise, expect to pay about $100 for parking. Even with taxes and fees, that’s about half the rate of the Port of Miami.

The lot is located about 1.5 miles driving from the cruise terminals. A shuttle runs regularly to the Miami port and is free. Reservations are available on their website, which we recommend to ensure you have a spot when you arrive.

  • Cost: ~$12.50 per day (includes taxes & fees)
  • Distance: 1.5 miles (free shuttle provided) | 189 NE 2nd St.
  • Website: https://www.safecruiseparking.com

Premier Cruise Parking If you want to park in a garage where your car is protected from the searing Miami sun, then look into this company. Similar to Safe Cruise Parking above, this lot is actually a garage offering multiple levels of covered parking.

The garage (the MET3 parking garage in downtown Miami) is located about a mile from the port and offers a free shuttle to and from the cruise terminal. Rates run about $10.50 per day. But with taxes and fees you can expect to pay about $100 in total for parking on a one-week cruise — or roughly $12.50 per day. No oversize vehicles are allowed.

  • Distance: 1.5 miles (free shuttle provided) | 250 SE 3rd Ave.
  • Website:  http://premiercruiseparking.com/

WeParkIn Miami With parking in a garage just across the causeway from the port, this spot is among the closest you’ll find. The garage is located in downtown Miami and only minutes away from the ships.

During our search we found prices of $9.99 per day (including the cost for both the day you arrive and the day you leave), but with taxes and fees, the prices ends up being around $11.50 per day for a week cruise. That’s about 50% the cost of parking at the cruise terminal. In addition, the parking lot website says they have a shuttle service to get you back and forth from PortMiami.

  • Cost: ~$11.50 per day (includes taxes & fees)
  • Distance: 1.5 miles | 850 NE 2nd Ave

Miami Hotels With Cruise Parking (Recommended)

If you are staying in the Miami area in a hotel, then you may be able to save on your parking. Many hotels cater to cruisers with special daily parking rates or parking packages, which allow you to leave your car while you sail.

Hotels include DoubleTree, Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn, and others near the port.

To be sure, if you don’t plan to stay in a hotel before your trip already, it’s not worth it to book a room just to get the parking. But if you already want to stay nearby before your cruise, then a hotel with a parking package can save you money over parking at the port.

For example, a hotel might be $150 a night normally, but charge $180 for the park and cruise package that lets you leave your car for a week. The extra package cost is lower than the price of parking at the Port of Miami, which charges $22 per day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which parking lot should I use? While it is more expensive, we would suggest the parking at the Port of Miami . Navigating Miami can be difficult, so it’s nice to be able to park right at your ship and simply walk across a street to board. It’s also convenient in that you don’t have to pre-book or reserve anything. You simply arrive at the port on cruise day and park.

Can I park for free anywhere during my cruise? It be great to be able to park for free, but it’s only available in a few situations. First, if you are disabled and your automobile has modifications (such as a ramp), then you are able to park for free at the Port of Miami. As well, those with Florida disabled veteran license plates can also get free parking. You call the port at 305-347-4800 for more details.

If you don’t meet one of those two groups, don’t despair. You can park for free (or a discount) at a number of hotels in the area in exchange for a night’s stay. These hotels offer parking as a perk to attract cruise passengers. See a list of Miami hotels with cruise parking here .

What time should I arrive if I am parking? If you plan to park at the port, we’d suggest arriving 30 minutes before you plan to board. So if you want to board the ship at noon, arrive at 11:30. This will offer plenty of time to park, find your way to the ship and get checked in.

If you plan to park at an off-site parking lot, then we’d up that time to an hour before you board. This gives you plenty of time to park and then shuttle to the cruise ship.

Do I need to reserve a parking spot before I arrive? If you plan to park at the port, you don’t need to reserve any sort of parking. There are spots available and you simply pay when you arrive. For other lots, you’ll want to reserve ahead of time to ensure that they have space available.

Would you pay for the parking as you enter the garage or at the end of your cruise when eiting the garage?

Where is the best place to park when traveling on MSC October 2023? Want a covered and secure lot.

Just at the port. There are garages near each terminal.

We are driving in the night before. It is a 12 hour drive, so I expect to arrive in Miami sometime between 6a-9a. Can we get in the garage at port of miami at that time? Will there be parking available since it is before the cruise before us disembarks?

Not sure on that, but I’d suggest going somewhere, relaxing, sightseeing, or having breakfast. The port will be very busy with everyone trying to get off the ship.

Parking for NCL Terminal B? Cruising in December 2023. Also, one member is handicapped no equipment only a walker. Where do we park? The map is vague. Would like to have the ability to make a reservation.

There’s a parking garage adjacent to the terminal. Just head to the terminal and you’ll see the signs for garage parking.

Is the parking per day or per night? For the period from May 5th to May 8th, will I be charged for 3 or 4 days?

Do you know the height for Terminal F for Carnival. Just wanting to know as I have a truck and wanting to make sure I have enough clearance.

I do not know the exact height, but they are standard parking garages. If you can usually park in a garage, then you should be fine. If not, then there is oversized parking available.

Hi, just checking if this article still up to date and if in Feb 2023 I still can go and find a parking spot at the port. I’m concerned to be full, I hate to leave things like this for the last minute and don’t have reservations. I look at the satellite picture in google maps and dont even see big parking lots at the port, just a lot containers and construction.

Yes, it’s still valid. Miami used parking garages instead of big lots, that’s why Google Maps doesn’t show a lot of big parking lots.

Thanks for the quick response Tanner. I assume those garages are walking distance from the cruises right? Im taking an MSC for the first time and for what I’ve found is in the terminal AA/AAA, so because Royal is on A I assume will be close by and I have to take the Royal Caribbean garage?

AA/AAA is under construction. To my knowledge it’s not open yet. When it is, it will have its own parking.

I have 20 ft long 9 1/2 high campervan. Can I find a spot near Norwegian termi? 11 day cruise.

Roadtrekker

Not sure exactly where the oversized parking is, but it shouldn’t be too far. I know they ask you to park in a surface lot instead of garage.

The Royal Caribbean garage is more expensive than the other port garages. Can I park at another port garage and walk to the RC dock?

I supposed you could, although not sure if they check your boarding pass to ensure you’re in the right garage. Also, the RC terminal is at the very far end of the port, so there is some walking.

Do the lots at the cruise terminal fill up? I fear planning on parking here and no spaces available.

No, you don’t have to worry about that. Even if the lot for that specific terminal did fill up, you would just be redirected to another nearby lot. Plenty of space.

Do I need a reservation to park my car at the terminal A garage? If so, how do I make the reservation?

Thank you very much,

Bob Weinstein

No, you can just drive up the day of the cruise.

Wonder how difficult traffic will be on Saturday before the Super Bowl getting to and into the port of Miami. I know there is a week long event at Bayfront park. How much travel margin should we leave? How much extra time to allow?

We actually went through there on Friday before the Super Bowl. Wasn’t bad at all!

Is this parking right by royal carribean ship?

Yes, if you use the port parking.

Does Miami airport offer shuttle to the port? Also, would economy parking at the airport be cheaper that port parking?

The airport doesn’t have a shuttle to the port, but you can Uber/Lyft. You could use airport parking, and it would likely be cheaper. Just remember to add in the cost and time of transportation between your car and the port.

I received a free cruise and a hotel room for the night before and a shuttle to the cruise port, but they don’t provide parking. The parking at the hotel is very expensive. Where would you recommend I park so that I don’t have to move the car the morning of the cruise and will get a shuttle ride back to my car? I will get a taxi or uber to the hotel from the parking lot.

If it were us, we would simply park at the Port of Miami. It’s more expensive than other lots, but really convenient. If you want to avoid some of the traffic, wait until later in the day to get to the ship.

How would i know if there is parking space available for me to park my car if there is no reservation?

There is ample parking at the port. You don’t have to worry about there being enough space.

Does anyone know if a Dogde Grand Caravan could be considered as a “oversize vehicles”? I am asking because I am looking to Premier Cruise Parking due to the proximity and price and I was just not sure about it

That won’t be oversized. Oversized are things like RVs.

As of today August 27, 2019 Safe Cruise is up to 80 for a week long cruise and that is before ay taxes and fees.

Thanks for the update. Price can and will vary with lots.

What about disabled person to parking is free?

If you meet certain requirements, such as having modifications to the car such as a lift ramp, then you can park for free. See more here: https://cruzely.com/free-disabled-parking-for-florida-cruises/

Other than disabled Florida veterans, Does U.S veterans get a discount?

Glen — we don’t see anything about that. It’s still worth a shot to ask when you arrive.

Disabled customers pay the same rates?

Assuming you meet the requirements, parking at Florida ports is free for disabled passengers. You can find more information here: https://cruzely.com/free-disabled-parking-for-florida-cruises/

Greetings – how do I make a reservation to park at the port of Miami?

If you want to park at the port, reservations aren’t required. Simply show up on cruise day.

Can I part à 24 foot RV, if so, how much is it?

Yes, parking is available. It costs $44 per day for an oversized vehicle.

Ultimate guide to miami cruise parking: options, prices, and map.

' src=

I’ve always had a passion for taking cruise vacations, yet securing budget-friendly and accessible parking close to the harbor often proves to be difficult.

That’s why I’ve put together the ultimate guide to Miami cruise parking. In this guide, you’ll find all the information you need about different parking options, prices, and even a handy map to help you navigate.

From the official Port of Miami parking lots to independent parking lots and hotels with special parking rates, this guide has got you covered.

So sit back, relax, and let’s dive into the world of Miami cruise parking.

Table of Contents

Key Takeaways

  • Port of Miami charges $22 per day for parking ($25-$28 for Royal Caribbean).
  • Independent parking lots offer cheaper rates of around $11-12 per day.
  • Disabled passengers with specialized equipment or Florida disabled veteran license plates can park for free.
  • Premier Cruise Parking is a popular choice due to its proximity and affordable price.

Overview of Miami Cruise Parking Options

I have researched and found that there are several parking options available for Miami cruises. These include Port of Miami parking lots, independent parking lots, and hotels with cruise parking packages.

Let’s start with the Port of Miami parking lots. One of the pros of parking at the Port of Miami is its convenience and reliability. They offer covered and uncovered parking options, and their rates range from $22 to $28 per day, depending on the length of your cruise.

However, a con of parking at the Port of Miami is the higher cost compared to independent lots. Independent parking lots, like Safe Cruise Parking and Premier Cruise Parking, offer lower rates of around $12.50 per day. They also provide shuttle services to the Miami port.

Another option is to look for hotels near the port that offer special parking rates or packages for cruisers. This can be a cheaper alternative, especially if you plan to stay in the area before your cruise.

To find the best Miami cruise parking deal, I recommend comparing prices and services of different options, considering the proximity to the port, and reading reviews from previous customers.

Pricing for Miami Cruise Parking

Covered and uncovered parking options are available at the official Port of Miami parking lots.

When comparing parking prices, it’s important to note that the Port of Miami charges $22 per day for regular vehicles, with Royal Caribbean passengers paying slightly more at $25-$28 per day.

On the other hand, independent lots offer more affordable options, with prices ranging from $11-$12 per day. Additionally, there are discounts and promotions available for Miami cruise parking.

For disabled passengers with specialized equipment or Florida disabled veteran license plates, parking is free. Premier Cruise Parking is a popular choice due to its proximity and reasonable price.

It’s worth noting that oversized vehicles, such as RVs, may have higher parking fees.

Official Port of Miami Parking Lots

Garage G at the Port of Miami offers convenient and reliable parking for overnight stays. Prices range from $22 to $28 depending on the length of the cruise. This parking option is a great choice for those looking for covered parking options.

Miami Hotels With Cruise Parking Options

Staying at a Miami hotel before my cruise was a cost-effective choice. Not only did it provide a comfortable stay, but it also offered convenient parking options.

Two hotels that stood out were DoubleTree and Comfort Suites, both of which had great parking packages for cruisers. DoubleTree offered parking rates starting at $10 per day, while Comfort Suites had a parking package that included up to 7 days of parking and a shuttle service to the port.

These options were much cheaper compared to the Port of Miami parking rates, which can range from $22 to $28 per day. By choosing a hotel with cruise parking, I was able to save money and ensure a hassle-free start to my vacation.

Ultimate Cruise Cabin Tips for a Perfect Voyage

An image showcasing a luxurious cruise cabin, flooded with soft natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows

Hello, fellow cruise enthusiasts! Are you prepared to set sail on the ultimate journey of a lifetime?

Well, get ready to set sail with my top-notch tips for the perfect cruise cabin experience. From choosing the right cabin type and location to avoiding those pesky wind tunnel effects in balcony cabins, I’ve got you covered.

And that’s just the beginning! So, get ready to make the most out of your cruise cabin and get ready for an unforgettable adventure on the high seas.

Let’s dive in, shall we?

  • Choose the cabin type based on the length of your cruise and budget.
  • Be mindful of the food you bring into interior cabins to avoid unpleasant smells.
  • Avoid opening both balcony doors at the same time to prevent a wind tunnel effect.
  • Use magnetic hooks to hang items in the cabin and take advantage of the available space.

Cabin Types and Length of Trip

I should consider the length of my cruise when selecting a cabin type. The cabin noise levels and amenities can greatly impact my overall experience.

For shorter trips, interior cabins are a suitable option. They are more affordable and provide a cozy space to rest.

However, if I’m going on a longer cruise, I might want to splurge on a cabin with a balcony. These cabins offer a private outdoor space where I can relax and enjoy the view. Additionally, balcony cabins often have better sound insulation, reducing the noise levels from neighboring cabins and public areas.

It’s important to weigh the pros and cons of each cabin type based on the length of my trip to ensure I have a comfortable and enjoyable voyage.

Avoid Smelly Food in Interior Cabins

To prevent lingering smells in the interior cabin, it’s best to avoid bringing in smelly food. Interior cabins may not have the best ventilation system, so any strong odors can quickly fill the room and stay there for quite some time.

On the other hand, balcony cabins offer the advantage of access to fresh air. This helps to dissipate any unwanted smells. So, if you’re craving something with a strong odor, it’s best to enjoy it outside on your balcony or in the ship’s public areas.

Wind Tunnel Effect in Balcony Cabins

Opening both the balcony door and the front door in a balcony cabin can create a wind tunnel effect, which can cause chaos and potentially slam doors shut. To prevent this, I recommend only opening one door at a time in balcony cabins. This will help maintain a calm and comfortable environment inside the cabin.

When it comes to balcony cabin decor, it’s important to create a space that is both stylish and functional. Consider adding cozy seating, such as a small table and chairs, to enjoy the breathtaking views from your balcony. You can also incorporate elements of nature, such as potted plants or a small herb garden, to bring a sense of tranquility to your space.

In terms of balcony cabin amenities, make sure to take advantage of the perks that come with your cabin. This can include access to exclusive lounges or private dining areas, as well as complimentary room service. Additionally, don’t forget to utilize the storage space available in your cabin to keep your belongings organized and minimize clutter.

Overall, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere in your balcony cabin can greatly enhance your cruise experience. So, make sure to pay attention to the decor and amenities to make the most out of your voyage.

Don’t Hang Clothes to Dry on the Balcony

Hanging wet clothes on the balcony can be risky due to strong winds, so it’s best to find alternative methods of drying them in the cabin. Here are three balcony safety precautions and cabin storage solutions to consider:

Use the small clothesline in the bathroom: Most cabins have a small clothesline that can be used to hang wet clothes. This is a safer alternative to hanging them on the balcony.

Bring magnetic hooks: The ceiling in your cabin is made of metal, making it suitable for magnetic hooks. Use these hooks to hang clothes or other items that need to be dried. They are inexpensive and can be easily found online.

Exchange wet pool towels: If you have wet pool towels that need to be dried, you can exchange them for dry ones at the pool deck. This way, you don’t have to worry about hanging them on the balcony and risking them being blown away.

Ordering Water for the Cabin

Ordering a small case of water for my cabin is a convenient way to have readily available drinking water without having to go far. It’s important to stay hydrated during a cruise, and having water in the cabin ensures that I can quench my thirst whenever I need to. Plus, some cruise lines have restrictions on bringing drinks on board, so ordering water for the cabin is a hassle-free solution.

Along with staying hydrated, I also prioritize cabin safety and security. I make sure to keep my cabin door locked at all times, even when I’m inside. I also store valuable items in the cabin safe or use the ship’s safe deposit boxes for added security.

As for cabin entertainment, the TV channels available may be limited, but they still offer a variety of options. From movie channels to news stations and cruise-related channels, there’s something for everyone. I enjoy relaxing in my cabin and catching up on the latest news or watching a movie on the cozy cabin TV.

Magnetic Hooks for Hanging Items

Using magnetic hooks in my cabin is a clever way to hang items and maximize the limited space available.

When it comes to storage, the ceiling is often overlooked. However, with magnetic hooks, you can utilize this often unused space to hang lightweight items such as hats, scarves, or small bags.

The strong magnets ensure that your belongings stay in place, even when the ship is rocking. Additionally, if your cabin has a balcony, you can use magnetic hooks to hang towels or wet swimsuits to dry. Just be mindful of the balcony dividers, as they may leave gaps that compromise privacy.

With magnetic hooks, you can make the most of your cabin’s vertical space and keep your belongings organized and easily accessible.

Ideal Cabin Location

Being situated on the upper decks of the ship is the most convenient location for easy access to amenities during my cruise. Not only do I get to enjoy breathtaking views from my cabin with an ocean view, but I also have quick access to all the cabin amenities and services.

Whether it’s indulging in delicious room service, enjoying a relaxing spa treatment, or taking a dip in the pool, everything is just a few steps away. Plus, being on the upper decks means I can easily navigate my way to the main dining areas, entertainment venues, and other exciting activities.

It truly enhances my overall cruise experience and allows me to make the most of every moment on board.

How Can I Ensure a Flawless Experience in My Cruise Cabin?

When preparing for your cruise, consider these insider tips European cruises for a flawless experience in your cabin. Pack a power strip for extra outlets, bring a highlighter to mark daily activities on the newsletter, and use magnets to display important documents on the cabin walls. Bon voyage!

Are There Any Restrictions on Bringing Outside Drinks Into the Cabin?

Yes, there are cabin restrictions on bringing outside drinks. Each cruise line has its own cabin policies regarding beverages. It’s best to check the specific rules of the cruise line you’re sailing with.

What Amenities Are Typically Included in a Cruise Cabin?

In cruise cabins, amenities typically include cozy decor, comfortable beds, and a private bathroom. Upgrading cabin types offers benefits like more space, balconies for scenic views, and access to exclusive perks.

How Can I Ensure a Quiet and Restful Sleep in My Cabin?

To ensure a quiet and restful sleep in my cabin, I choose a location away from the middle of the ship, avoid cabins with heavy foot traffic, and keep my cabin door locked. I also maximize storage space by storing suitcases under the bed.

Can I Request a Different Bed Configuration in My Cabin?

Yes, you can request a different bed configuration in your cabin. Most cruise ships offer different bed sizes and layout options. Simply specify your preference during online check-in or ask the room steward for assistance.

What Should I Do in Case of an Emergency in My Cabin?

In case of an emergency in my cabin, it is important to follow the ship’s emergency protocols and safety measures. Familiarize yourself with the safety features and procedures provided, and report any suspicious activity or unauthorized access to ship security.

Cost Comparison of On-site and Off-site Parking

When planning for parking at the Port of Miami, it’s essential to consider the cost involved. Comparing the prices of on-site and off-site parking options can help you make an informed decision based on your budget. Here’s a cost comparison of on-site and off-site parking:

  • On-site Parking: Parking rates at the Port of Miami’s on-site parking garage can vary depending on the length of your cruise. Short-term parking rates may be higher, while long-term parking rates can be more cost-effective for extended stays. It’s important to check the official website for updated rates before making a decision.
  • Off-site Parking: Off-site parking options near the Port of Miami often provide more affordable rates compared to on-site parking. These facilities offer competitive prices, especially for longer cruises. In addition, some off-site parking lots may offer discounted rates for advanced reservations or special promotions, making them even more cost-effective.
  • Additional Fees: It’s crucial to consider any additional fees associated with parking at the Port of Miami. For on-site parking, there may be additional fees for oversized vehicles or valet parking services. Some off-site parking facilities may also charge extra for additional services such as covered parking or premium shuttle services. It’s important to factor in these fees when comparing the total cost of on-site and off-site parking options.
  • Overall Savings: Off-site parking options tend to offer significant savings compared to on-site parking at the Port of Miami, especially for longer cruise durations. The cost savings from choosing an off-site parking facility can be redirected towards other aspects of your cruise, such as onboard activities or excursions.

When comparing the cost of on-site and off-site parking, it’s essential to weigh the convenience and proximity of on-site parking against the potential cost savings of off-site parking. Consider your budget, trip duration, and parking needs to determine which option best fits your requirements.

Ultimately, the choice between on-site and off-site parking at the Port of Miami will depend on your individual preferences and priorities. By conducting thorough research and comparing prices, you can make an informed decision that balances convenience, affordability, and overall value for your cruise parking experience.

Tips for Choosing the Best Parking Option

When it comes to choosing the best parking option for your cruise from the Port of Miami, there are a few factors to consider. These tips can help you make an informed decision and ensure a smooth start to your cruise vacation:

  • Research in Advance: Start researching parking options well in advance of your cruise departure date. Look into both on-site and off-site parking options, compare prices, read reviews, and check for any additional services or amenities offered.
  • Consider Distance and Convenience: Think about how important proximity is to you. On-site parking offers the convenience of being within walking distance of the port, while off-site parking may require a shuttle transfer. Consider how much time you’re willing to spend on transportation and whether the cost savings of off-site parking outweigh the convenience of on-site parking.
  • Check Security Measures: Ensure that the parking facility you choose has adequate security measures in place. Look for features such as 24/7 surveillance, fenced-in lots, and well-lit areas. Your vehicle’s safety should be a priority.
  • Read Reviews: Take the time to read reviews from other cruise passengers who have utilized the parking options you’re considering. Pay attention to their experiences with customer service, shuttle services, and overall satisfaction with the parking facility.
  • Compare Prices and Additional Fees: Compare the prices of on-site and off-site parking options, taking into account any additional fees or services that may be included. Factor in the length of your cruise and consider whether off-site parking offers better cost savings for your specific needs.
  • Book in Advance: Once you’ve made a decision, be sure to book your parking spot in advance. This guarantees you a spot in a preferred parking facility and can help avoid any last-minute stress and uncertainty.
  • Check Cancellation and Refund Policies: Before making a reservation, familiarize yourself with the parking facility’s cancellation and refund policies. Life happens, and unexpected changes or cancellations may occur. Knowing your options can save you from unnecessary stress or financial burdens.
  • Plan for Arrival and Departure: Consider factors such as traffic and check-in times when planning the arrival and departure times for your cruise. Give yourself ample time to park your vehicle, check in, and board the ship without feeling rushed or stressed.

By following these tips, you can make an informed decision and choose the best parking option for your cruise from the Port of Miami. Remember to plan ahead, consider your priorities, and weigh the pros and cons of each parking option to ensure a seamless and enjoyable start to your cruise vacation.

Customer feedback can provide valuable insights into the quality of services, security measures, and overall customer satisfaction. Use reputable sources to ensure accurate information.

4. Plan Ahead and Make Reservations: Once you’ve decided on a parking option, it’s advisable to make a reservation in advance. This guarantees you a parking spot and eliminates any last-minute stress or uncertainty. Check the cancellation and refund policies to have flexibility in case of unexpected changes.

5. Consider Transportation Options: If you choose off-site parking, familiarize yourself with the shuttle services provided. Determine the frequency of their schedule and assess whether it aligns with your arrival and departure plans. Ensure that the shuttle service offers the convenience and reliability you require.

Before you can enjoy your fabulous cruise vacation, you need to find a safe, convenient and affordable place to park your car. We’ve put hours of research into finding 5 great places for parking in Miami cruise port.

Parking in Miami Cruise Port

The Port of Miami is known as the cruise capital of the world. In 2022 more than 4 million cruisers started their vacation here. This busy port is made up of 3 small islands, which are accessible from the mainline via the Port Boulevard bridge. So, its only natural that we start our list with with parking at the Miami cruise port.

1. Parking at the Port of Miami

Parking at the Miami Cruise Port is likely going to be the most convenient option for you. There’s plenty of parking, with dedicated shuttles running between parking garages and cruise terminals from 6am to 5pm when cruise ships are in port. But that convenience will come at a slightly higher price than some of the other options we’ll discuss.

There are 9 cruise terminals at the Port of Miami and each terminal has a parking garage located nearby for cruise passengers. However, you can choose to park in which garage you prefer.

  • Cruise Terminal A: Royal Caribbean
  • Cruise Terminal AA/AAA: MSC Cruises
  • Cruise Terminal B: Norwegian
  • Cruise Terminal C: Disney and MSC
  • Cruise Terminal D/E: Carnival, Princess, Holland America, and P & O
  • Cruise Terminal F: Carnival Cruise Line
  • Cruise Terminal G: Celebrity, Royal Caribbean
  • Cruise Terminal J: Oceania, Regent Seven Seas, Azamara and Crystal Cruises
  • Cruise Terminal K: Disney
  • Cruise Terminal V: Virgin

Additional parking information

  • Disabled parking spaces are available in every garage.
  • Free disabled veteran parking may be available.
  • Parking for over-sized vehicles is available at Surface Lot E, but special rates apply
  • All parking lots are patrolled by security
  • Free shuttle to the terminal is available on cruise days
  • All garages are open and staffed from 6 am to 5 pm when cruise ships are in port

How Much is Parking in Miami Cruise Port?

So the big question is: How much is parking in Miami cruise port? But the answer is going to depend on which lot you select and the size of your vehicle. Most cars can be parked in garages B – J for $22 per day. However, prices will vary at Garage A and for oversized-vehicles.

  • Garage A (Royal Caribbean) – Contact Royal Caribbean Customer Service 24/7 at 1-800-256-6649
  • Garages B, C, D, F, G, V, J and Surface Lots C, D and E – $22 per day
  • Surface Lot E – $22 per day, $44 per day if two spaces are used for an oversized vehicle.

The port accepts the following payments:

  • American Express
  • US Traveler’s Checks
Note: The port does not accept Debit cards, so be prepared with a credit card or cash to avoid problems.

Miami Cruise Parking with Shuttle

Not everyone wants to park at the Miami cruise port. Not only is it the most expensive parking option, but the port is a very busy area of the city. If you’re not comfortable driving in chaotic traffic with cars and shuttles stopping to let passengers in and out, you may find that parking at a lot outside the Port of Miami is preferable for you.

2. Premier Cruise Parking

Located a short 1.2 miles away from the port, Premier Cruise Parking offers covered self-parking for approximately $12.50 per day. This parking garage is a dedicated lot solely for cruise parking. In fact, they are not open on days when ships are not in port. There is a 3 day minimum parking requirement and a maximum of 4 passengers on their complimentary shuttle. They advise that additional members of your group can be dropped at the port, while you return to park your car. This is a workable option, but not ideal since part of your group is either boarding the ship before you, or is waiting dockside for you to arrive.

The lot opens at 10:30am, but they will attempt to accommodate an earlier arrival if you call to request an exception. The garage is unable to accommodate oversized vehicles since the clearance is only 7 foot. Reservations are strongly encouraged but can be cancelled up to 24 hours prior to your reservation time.

Shuttles from the parking garage to the port of Miami run every 30 minutes from 11am to 3:15pm on when ships are in port. Return shuttles from the port back to the parking garage also run every 30 minutes from 7:30am to 10:45am.

  • Garage Available – Yes
  • Elevator Available – Unknown
  • Self-Parking – Yes
  • Ceiling Height – 7 foot
  • Oversized Parking Available – Unknown
  • Port Shuttle Available – Yes
  • Return Shuttle Available – Yes
  • Reservations Accepted – Yes
  • Maximum Shuttle Passengers – 4 per reservation
  • Cancellations Allowed: Yes, 24 hours in advance

3. Safe Cruise Parking

Another option for Miami cruise parking with shuttle is Safe Cruise Parking . This parking garage is located 2.0 miles from the port, and also offers covered self-parking. Parking here will cost approximately $11.56 per day plus taxes and fees. You’ll want to find your rate by starting a booking on their website. No worries, you’ll see prices before you have to enter any personal details.

All shuttles arrive and depart from the main level of the parking structure, so you’ll have to carry your luggage from your car to the main level. Fortunately, Safe Cruise Parking does have an elevator to make this easier. They offer shuttles to the port as well as a return shuttle back to the parking garage to pick-up your vehicle. However, only 6 passengers are allowed per reservation. You’ll be asked to drop additional passengers off at the port prior to parking, or make separate arrangements through a ride-share app or Taxi.

The parking lot is open every day from 7:30 m to 3pm, with shuttles running every 30 minutes. The focus for their shuttles are passengers disembarking from cruise ships until 10:00am. After that time, they begin running passengers to the port of Miami to board their cruise ships.

  • Elevator Available – Yes
  • Maximum Shuttle Passengers – 6 per reservation
  • Cancellations Allowed: Yes, 24 hours in advance with 10% fee

5. The Cruise Parking Miami

If you’re planning to spend the night in a hotel in Miami before boarding your cruise ship, you may want to explore the park and cruise packages offered by many hotels. These hotels have created packages that allow you to book a stay at the hotel and leave your car in their parking lot for the duration of your cruise. Many of these hotels also offer a shuttle to the port. But, it’s important to do your homework before making a decision. Often the cost of a regular hotel room and a stand-along parking garage is cheaper than trying to bundle. Especially if there are more than 2 – 4 guests in your travelling party.

What are the best cruises from Miami? It’s a tough question to answer, in part because there are so many choices.

Miami has long been the cruise capital of the world, and even though it recently has been challenged by nearby Port Canaveral for the title of world’s busiest cruise port, it still offers one of the most diverse mixes of options when it comes to ships and itineraries.

Many of the world’s biggest cruise lines operate sailings from Miami, in some cases with multiple ships. On any given day, there can be as many as seven different cruise vessels sailing from the port.

For more cruise guides, news and tips, sign up for TPG’s cruise newsletter .

The large number of options means that there’s a little something for everyone when it comes to Miami cruises. That’s great because the best Miami cruise for you may not be the same as the best cruise out of Miami for someone else, depending on your travel style.

Here we list our top picks for the best cruises from Miami for five different types of travelers.

Best cruises for families: Icon of the Seas

Quite a few family-friendly ships call Miami home, including vessels operated by such family cruise leaders as Royal Caribbean , Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line. However, when it comes to the best cruises from Miami for families, there’s never been anything quite like the voyages in the works for Royal Caribbean’s soon-to-arrive-in-Miami Icon of the Seas .

Scheduled to debut in Miami in January 2024 and already available to book, the 5,610-passenger Icon of the Seas will be the biggest cruise ship in the world — more than 6% bigger than the biggest cruise vessel currently at sea.

That means it has more space than any other ship at sea for children’s clubs, waterslides, watery play areas and other family fun zones.

But it’s not just Icon of the Seas’ larger size that will make its sailings the best cruises out of Miami for families. The cruise line has designed the vessel — the first of a new class of ships — specifically to cater to families in a bigger way .

Icon of the Seas will offer more cabins with extra bunks to accommodate families with multiple children, including new room designs. Some family suites will even feature separate rooms for the little ones.

Related: The 5 best cruise lines for families

Many of these family-friendly accommodations will be near a new-for-the-line outdoor “neighborhood” called Surfside, which is dedicated to families with young children. As announced late last year, Surfside will feature splash areas for babies and kids, pools and lounge spaces for parents, family-friendly eateries and shops, and a bar with “mommy and me” matching mocktails for kids and cocktails for grownups.

The water park that Royal Caribbean plans for Icon of the Seas will be the largest ever built on a cruise ship. It will feature a record six top-deck waterslides and an unusual-for-Royal Caribbean ropes course. Teens and tweens have never had it so good.

Come January, Icon of the Seas will take the place of Royal Caribbean’s family-friendly Harmony of the Seas in Miami. If you’re looking for the best cruise out of Miami for families between now and January 2024, Harmony of the Seas is our pick. It’s almost as big as Icon of the Seas and similarly loaded with family-friendly attractions.

That said, if you’re a diehard Disney fan, be advised that the best family cruise from Miami for you is probably not a voyage on Icon of the Seas or Harmony of the Seas but one of the seasonal sailings that Disney Cruise Line offers out of Miami on the 1,754-passenger Disney Magic.

Unlike the Royal Caribbean ships, it’s not a new vessel with all the latest bells and whistles. In fact, it’s the oldest ship in the Disney fleet, dating to the 1990s. But it’s, well … a Disney ship. And if you’re a Disney lover, that’s probably all you need to know.

Best cruises for adults: Scarlet Lady

As of October 2021, the uncontested best cruises from Miami for adults are the four- and five-night sailings to the Bahamas and Caribbean offered on Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady. That’s the month the new cruise line launched, promising to shake things up in the cruise world with a lively, adult-focused onboard experience unlike anything else in cruising.

Specifically designed for adults only — no children under the age of 18 are allowed on board — the 2,770-passenger Scarlet Lady is all about grownup fun. We’re talking everything from rollicking dance parties to a drag show.

Related: I’ve been on more than 150 cruise ships; here’s why I loved Scarlet Lady

Notably, Scarlet Lady offers many stylish, adult-oriented nightspots and bars, creating a hopping scene late into the night. Passengers are able to shake their phones to have Champagne delivered to wherever they happen to be standing, get inked at an onboard tattoo parlor and belt out tunes in a colorful karaoke lounge .

Unlike some other cruise lines, Virgin Voyages also eschews buffets, dress codes and big Broadway-style theater shows. In place of the latter, the line offers such entertainment as dance parties, DJ sets and unconventional performances in a multi-purpose room.

While initially dubbed the “cruise line for millennials” in media coverage, Virgin Voyages was designed to appeal to not just young adults but older adults who are “young at heart,” executives have said. In its first two year of operations, it’s been drawing passengers in a wide range of ages .

Best cruises for budget travelers: MSC Seascape

For years, the low-cost ships of Carnival Cruise Line were the go-to vessels for the best cruises out of Miami for budget travelers. But Carnival’s Miami-based ships have had new competition for the title in recent years from the even-lower-cost vessels of MSC Cruises — a fast-growing line that has been taking the Miami market by storm.

Our take is that the MSC Cruises ships sailing from Miami — particularly the just-out-of-the-shipyard-new MSC Seascape — are now the vessels to book if you’re looking for the best value in cruises from Miami.

Based in Miami year-round, the 4,550-passenger MSC Seascape operates alternating seven-night voyages to the Eastern Caribbean and Western Caribbean that sometimes sell for as little as $399 per person — or just $57 per day.

That’s a pretty amazing fare when you consider that it covers not just your room but meals on the ship, too.

Related: TPG’s guide to cruising from Miami

The ship’s Eastern Caribbean sailings typically are priced a tad lower than its Western Caribbean sailings (when we were pricing them for this guide, they started about $30 per person lower). The Eastern Caribbean trips call at Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Nassau, Bahamas; and Ocean Cay , MSC Cruises’ private island in the Bahamas. The Western Caribbean voyages stop at Ocho Rios, Jamaica; George Town, Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; and Ocean Cay.

What’s striking about these low-priced sailings on MSC Seascape is that the ship is one of the newest and snazziest operating out of the Port of Miami, having just been unveiled in November 2022. Often, the lowest-cost cruises in any cruise port are on the oldest ships sailing from the port — vessels that don’t have the latest and greatest when it comes to onboard attractions and amenities.

Eighteen decks high and more than 1,100 feet long, MSC Seascape is loaded with family-friendly attractions, including multiple waterslides, a giant kiddie splash zone with a pirate ship theme and a robotic thrill ride. The latter, called Robotron , will flip you upside down and around as you dangle over the side of the ship.

Related: Our first impressions of MSC Seascape

MSC Seascape also offers 11 dining venues, 20 bars and lounges, a bustling casino, a sprawling spa and a showroom for big production shows.

Plus, there’s a giant “ship-within-a-ship” luxury zone loaded with suites and a private lounge and restaurant — one only accessible to well-heeled passengers who pay up for access. With fares for its rooms nearly 10 times higher than the starting rates for the ship’s basic cabins, The Yacht Club, as it’s called, is not a budget option. However, if you’ve got money to burn, you can check in here and feel like you’re living the high life.

In short, MSC Seascape is a big, bustling megaresort at sea of the sort operated by Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival. If it’s big ships with lots of activities you love, it’s a good choice if your budget is tight.

MSC Cruises has two other vessels based seasonally in Miami: MSC Magnifica and MSC Divina. MSC Magnifica mostly operates short three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. MSC Divina operates a wide mix of three- to 18-night sailings to the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

Best cruises for solo travelers: Norwegian Encore

The best cruises from Miami for solo travelers are those offered on Norwegian Cruise Line ‘s 3,998-passenger Norwegian Encore , as well as its sister vessels, Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Escape.

This is largely because Norwegian Encore and its sister ships boast unusually large private zones for solo travelers — something you won’t find on the Miami-based vessels operated by Norwegian’s main competitors.

The so-called “studio” zones on Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Escape — vessels that all are part of the line’s recently unveiled Breakaway-Plus class of ships — have 82 special solo cabins apiece and a private Studio Lounge where solos can gather for happy hours and other events.

One other Norwegian ship that sometimes sails out of Miami, Norwegian Breakaway, has a similar solo zone with 59 cabins.

Only the studio zone on Norwegian’s 2010-built Norwegian Epic is bigger, but that ship doesn’t sail out of Miami.

A special zone for solo travelers is a concept that is rare in the cruise world, where almost all rooms for vacationers are designed for two people and sold with per-person fares that are based on two people occupying the room.

Solos staying in the solo cabins on the above vessels get exclusive access to the Studio Lounge (using their keycards), meaning a maximum of 59 to 82 people will share the space.

Related:  The best cruise lines for solo travelers

The solo cabins in the zones are small (measuring 100 square feet) but are superbly designed to maximize storage space (something I learned firsthand staying in one on Norwegian Epic).

Solos on Norwegian Encore and its sister ships also will find a bustling bar scene, with plenty of counter-style seating in bars that are a great place to meet other solo travelers and friendly guests.

All of the ships mentioned above are great for solos, but we put Norwegian Encore first among them because it’s the newest. Of all Norwegian’s ships, it has the widest array of onboard attractions including one of the longest go-kart tracks at sea , an epic, open-air laser tag course and a virtual reality play zone.

Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Breakaway are scheduled to rotate in and out of Miami for Bahamas and Caribbean sailings over the next two years. None of them operate out of Miami year-round, and typically they’re not in town at the same time. If you’re planning a solo cruise from Miami in the next couple years, you’ll want to search for which vessel is scheduled to sail from Miami when you want to travel.

Best cruises for unrivaled fun: Carnival Celebration

Looking for a cruise out of Miami that is all about fun? Look no further than the sailings on Carnival Cruise Line ‘s new Carnival Celebration .

Carnival famously markets itself as the Fun Ship line, and this massive, 19-deck-high ship takes the tagline to heart with loads of fun-focused activities. It’s got everything from a water park and ropes course to one of the first roller coasters at sea .

In the ship’s interior areas, you’ll find many bars, eateries and showrooms where fun is the focus, including restaurants where the waiters dance for you in between courses (something of a Carnival signature). The always-busy casino can be a fun zone for some, depending on the vagaries of Lady Luck.

Carnival draws a lively, outgoing crowd looking to be part of the action, and that’s what you’ll find on Carnival Celebration. The typical Carnival customer shoots up a hand when an entertainer asks for a volunteer to come on stage or jumps up to dance with the waiters during the dinner show. If this sounds like you, you’ve found your ship for a cruise from Miami.

Related: The ultimate guide to Carnival ships and itineraries

Just don’t expect anything too highbrow. Carnival is about fun in a laid-back, unpretentious, nothing-too-fancy way.

At 183,521 gross tons, Carnival Celebration is one of the biggest ships sailing regularly from Miami. With room for up to 6,630 passengers, it’s one of the most packed, too. Expect fun in the form of a bustling party at sea.

As for that roller coaster, just be warned that it’s not the biggest you’ve ever seen. Dubbed Bolt: Ultimate Sea Coaster, it has an 800-foot-long track and vehicles that can hit speeds of 40 miles per hour. When it comes to top-deck cruise ship fun, it’s hard to think of anything that compares.

Bottom line

Few ports in the world are home to as many cruise ships as Miami, which means cruisers have plenty of choices when it comes to sailings from the port. Almost all of the world’s biggest cruise lines — including Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian and MSC Cruises — operate departures regularly from the port, typically with multiple ships and on multiple itineraries.
