Your Complete Booze Cruise Guide For The Jersey Shore 2020

I am counting down the days until the warm weather arrives because then life changes here at the Jersey Shore.

Snow, potholes and winter jackets transform into bathing suits, beaches and booze!

One of my personal favorite Summertime activities is to indulge in a booze cruise. You've got water. You've got alcohol. You've got your friends. There really isn't a downside.

94.3 The Point logo

So here are all of the booze cruises available in the Jersey Shore that you and your friends can enjoy this Summer.

River Queen

47 Broadway, Point Pleasant

(732) 528-6620 or (732) 892-3377

River Queen offers a wide variety of cruises and celebration-inspired trips. There are Buffet Luncheon Cruises, a Pasta & Fireworks Cruise for the 4th of July, 1.5 Hour Sightseeing Cruises, a Murder Mystery Dinner Cruise, and a New Year's Eve Cruise.

There is a full cash bar available on board along with snacks and meals that come with your specific package.

Tickets can be purchased in person or through the mail and they unfortunately do NOT accept credit cards.

Teal Cruises

Atlantic Highlands, NJ (They can also pick up from other major marinas in NJ and NY)

Call or Text: (908) 601-7345

There are two different Charters you can choose from.

1. Teal: this trip is for 10 to 50 people and has two spacious decks, surround sound speakers, and wrap around seating.

2. Festiva: this trip is good for 30 to 150 people (now THAT is a party) and comes with decorated buffet areas, a DJ booth, a dance floor and a full kitchen gallery.

There are a few different menus to choose from: the Lunch Cruise, the Dinner Cruise, and my personal favorite, the Cocktail Cruise.

Pirates on the Manasquan

1600 NJ 70, Brick

(732) 233-7333

Get ready for the most unique Pirate Ship Adventure offered in the USA.

There are multiple packages available. You can jump on one of the boats chartered to sail which would be a non-private adventure or you can charter your own boat!

There are Pirate Ship Adventures, themed charters and they can accommodate large camps and recreational groups.

Arggh matey!

Classic Boat Rides

8 Simon Lake Drive, Atlantic Highlands

The Pleasant Water Taxi is formerly known as the Manasquan Water Taxi and what they offer is kinda cool.

This service is a water taxi that brings you to various restaurants and bars on the Manasquan River. Feel free to enjoy a cocktail In-between stops or just simply soak up the sun and relax.

A few of the restaurants listed are Lobster Shanty, Wharfside Patio Bar, River House and Red's Lobster Pot but the list has plenty other locations.

Booze cruises and Bar crawls

  • Published: Aug. 05, 2009, 9:58 p.m.
  • Andrew Swanson

The other day, while enjoying a cold beer, I mentioned the prospect of going on a 'booze cruise' to my friend, Bob. "Sure," he said, "just let me know ahead of time so I can make sure I have a bicycle." Bob's reply had me stymied until I realized his error; he had confused a bar crawl with a booze cruise A booze cruise is when someone charters a boat and throws a party. Finding a boat can be as easy as looking in the phone book, or a few minutes' search online. Shop around and see how long you can rent the boat for, and how much it will cost. Most booze cruises are three to four hours in duration. The cost varies depending on the size of the boat (how many people it can hold) and how long you want the party to last. It is important to note that the four hour cruise is a gamble; if the booze and/or beer runs out, the partygoers will quickly become violent. "Mutiny on the Bounty" is not what we're all about. For a three hour booze cruise, the best booze and beer combination is three casks of jungle juice and two kegs of cheap beer. The Jungle juice, or mixed drink, should be strong enough for people to not notice or care about how cheap the beer is. Drinks should be colorful and eye catching. Make sure you can provide music in case the urge to dance comes over a partygoer who has too much of the jungle juice. The kegs should be kept on ice and not thrown overboard when they become empty; otherwise a flounder will get your keg deposit back instead of you. The last thing to remember is that booze cruises are limited in space and that every person present should bring something to the cruise. Last summer a friend of mine hosted a booze cruise and invited 18 women and six men. Too many guys can quickly get ugly and.... women are less prone to pee off the bow if the head is occupied. A Bar crawl is a different beast entirely. A bar crawl consists of a loosely organized group of people traveling from bar to bar in a specific order, generally planned ahead of time. Bar crawls can be run professionally, but most are informal at best. A bar crawl requires three things: a bicycle, money, and the hope that traveling in a large group will deter the police from giving you a ticket. At worst, this can resul in public intoxication or possibly a DWI or DUI. Some cities have bike paths or boardwalks where riding your bike home from the bar may go unnoticed, but a gaggle of 30 drunks is certainly going to draw the attention of law enforcement. Other options do exist. In Atlantic County you can rent a jitney, and the jitney will drive you from bar to bar. If you have a good relationship with your local cab company you could try and strike a deal to have two (or three) cabs at your disposal for the night and see how much that would cost. Taxi cabs usually have limousine licenses meaning that you can drink in the car. Maybe they all do, but they do not all want you drinking in the cab. Find out ahead of time. Booze cruises and bar crawls can both be fun and exciting as long as everyone drinks and acts responsibly. So please let me know if you are planning either or!

10 of the best day cruises you can take in New Jersey

🚢 Explore New Jersey by way of boat this spring and summer

🚢 nj offers some great day and evening cruises, 🚢whale watching, fishing, sunset dinners, and historical voyages to name a few.

Aside from the age-old question, “What’s for dinner?”, another one we may ponder is “What do you want to do this weekend?”

With the warm months upon us in New Jersey, it’s a great time to be outside and plan some cool day trips.

What about taking a day cruise somewhere? From dolphin watching to fishing to dinner and sightseeing cruises, there’s plenty to choose from in New Jersey.

Here are 10 of the best day cruises in NJ

Cape may sunset buffet dinner cruise.

The Cape May Whale Watcher, 1218 Wilson Dr, Cape May

Departure Time: 5:30 p.m. Duration: 2 hours

Come aboard The Spirit of Cape May dinner cruise where guests will enjoy food, views of the bay including a Jersey sunset, and dolphin sightings all in one evening. Experienced, licensed captains and naturalists will be on board with a fully narrated history. Mammal sightings are guaranteed. Dinner options include things like red wine braised short ribs, balsamic chicken with caramelized onions and roasted red peppers, a vegetable medley, mashed potatoes, penne vodka, mixed green salad, and dessert. On Saturday nights, there is an Italian buffet. Parents can opt for free pizza and hot dogs for kids. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, too.

Cape May Whale and Dolphin Cruise

The Cape May Whale Watcher, 1213 Wilson Dr, Cape May

Departure Time: 1 p.m. Duration: 3 hours

Staying with The Cape May Whale Watcher, come aboard the Cetacean Spectacular for a three-hour whale and dolphin sighting cruise.

Captain Jeff and his crew will take you into the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The Delaware Bay is where you will find many species of marine life. Marine biologists, naturalists, and whale lovers enjoy whale and dolphin sightings in areas like Cape May because the ride time to sightings is less, allowing for an awesome offshore experience for the family. Captain Jeff will also point out local history along the way.

New Jersey Lunch or Dinner Cruise

401 Riverview Dr, Perth Amboy

The Cornucopia’s Princess departs from Perth Amboy-Raritan Bay for a lunch or dinner cruise where you’ll experience views of the Raritan Bay and the inland waterways of New Jersey, while dining on lunch or dinner and sipping craft cocktails. It’s a great way to spend 2 ½ to 3 hours.

The Hoboken Dinner Cruise departs from the 14th Street Pier in Hoboken. Boarding for this three-hour cruise begins at 6:30 p.m. Sail on the Hudson and East Rivers while taking in views of the New York City skyline and the Statue od Liberty. Enjoy a buffet dinner of assorted salads, chicken, fish, beef, pasta, and more. Drinks are available for purchase on board.

Gambler Fishing Cruise

59 Inlet Drive, Point Pleasant Beach

Located in Point beach, fishing cruises aboard The Gambler have been popular for years. There are a variety of fishing day trips that head out in the spring, winter, and summer. Fluke trips run half day from July to Labor Day and ¾ of a day from Labor Day through mid-September. Bait is included. Tackle can be purchased on board. If you don’t have your own rod and reel, they can be rented.

The Gambler’s 4 ½ hour Fluke and Sea Bass Trip is very popular. This is the only boat that features built-in underwater night lights that attract sea life from stem to stern.

Along with fluke, you’ll often catch sea bass, redhake, and small bluefish. Incidental catches can include sandsharks, sea robins, sundials, and skates. You may even see porpoises and sometimes whales on these summer trips! The mates on board are there with any questions, and they’ll offer instruction on how to fish fillet at the end of the trip.

Jersey Shore Pirates

281 Princeton Avenue, Brick

Arrghhh! Grab your favorite pirate for a swashbuckling adventure on the high seas. Well, actually the Metedeconk River in Brick.

This 75 minute long pirate ship cruise leaves from the marina next to Windward Beach in Brick. It’s geared towards pirates 3-10 years old, but is fun for the whole family. Mini-mates will first have the opportunity to dress up like pirates, get their face painted with pirate tattoos, and learn some pirate lingo before setting sail. Once on board, the little mates will participate in an interactive treasure hunt on the high seas, while learning the rules of the Sea Gypsy pirate ship, reading a treasure map, discovering a secret message in a bottle, and working as a team to defeat the enemy pirate who has stolen the keys to their treasure. Prepare to man the ship’s famous water cannons. Then it’s off to search for the sunken measure. Remember, X marks the spot. Each child will be allowed to take a handful of loot with them, too.

Not for you? Well, The Sea Gypsy II offers a relaxing sunset cruise on the water. Feel free to get into the pirate spririt by dressing up as one. The boat leaves the dock at 6:30 p.m. and travels down the Metedeconk River, sails past Brick, Point Pleasant, around Hering Island through Bay Head, Mantoloking, and back up the Metedeconk to return to port at 8 p.m. Along the way, you see osprey nests, and enjoy some music. It’s a BYO food and drink cruise. Don’t forget to try their new coconut water beverage. It’s water straight out of a coconut. Place orders in advance.

Atlantic City Quiet Bay Cruise with Happy Hour Options

800 N New Hampshire Ave, Atlantic City

Sure, you can do happy hour at any bar. Why not do one on a boat?

End your day with a one-hour cruise enjoying the views of Atlantic City at dusk and by night. Enjoy a cocktail on the open-air deck while taking in the scenery along the coast. Meet at the Historic Gardner’s Basin and redeem your GetYourGuide voucher at the ticket booth for Atlantic City Cruises. After check-in, you’ll receive a boarding pass.

This quiet, calm cruise through the marinas and back bays of the Atlantic Ocean is a great way to relax as dusk turns into night.

Classic Boat Rides

8 Simon Lake Dr, Atlantic Highlands

With both public and private boat tours available, Classic Boat Rides offers a variety of options around Sandy Hook, the Navesink River and Shrewsbury River. Choose from the roomy paddlewheel boat, the Navesink Queen, or the Chesapeake Bay Dead Rise Wooden boat, Mariner.

Anchor Jam -a cruise of Atlantic Highlands. During this 2 ½ hour cruise, watch the sunset and listen to live music aboard the Navesink Queen. Bring your camera.

Steel Drums, BBQ and Rums Cruise - Escape to the islands with steel drummer Kenny in Atlantic Highlands. It’s “island time” aboard the Navesink Queen. Let your cares drift away on this 3-hour family friendly calm water river and bay cruise. Enjoy BBQ foods like pulled pork, chicken and all the fixings. Sip on their signature rum drink, “Mariner Mango Magic.”

Lunch and Lighthouse Tour - Experience this tour aboard Classic Boat Rides’ paddlewheel boat, the Navesink Queen. This is a private charter for large groups that includes sandwiches, salad, chips, plus dessert, iced tea or lemonade. Cruise for three hours past the Historic Twin Lights in Highlands and up the river, past the Sandy Hook Lighthouse, the oldest continually operated lighthouse in America. Captain Dan will offer a brief narration of light house history. Learn about local rum runners and more.

The River Queen Day Cruise

800 Ashley Ave, Brielle

Miss Belmar Fishing Trips

A day of deep sea fishing is 7 hours sailing from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Meet at Belmar Marina. The Miss Belmar Princess will venture off the Jersey coast in search of Striped Bass and Blues. During the day and twilight deep sea fishing charters, the Royal Miss Belmar will venture off the NJ coast in search of Fluke and Seabass. Bait is included but you must bring your own rod and reel.

A Local’s Guide to Jersey Shore BYOB Restaurants

A Local’s Guide to Jersey Shore BYOB Restaurants

Jersey Shore BYOB restaurants are the best of both worlds. Not only are they rich in flavors, including everything from seafood to pancakes, but they’ll also make you richer, saving you some money on the alcohol portion of the bill. We hope you enjoy these restaurants as much as we do because even though they lack a bar menu, they make up for it elsewhere.

We’ve taken the time (and the pounds), yet again to comb through a number of Jersey Shore restaurants (even taking advice from our readers – thanks!) to come up with an updated Jersey Shore BYOB restaurant list that is sure to please every palette.

For the sake of geographic simplicity, we’ll classify the Jersey Shore as Monmouth and Ocean Counties for this article (take a look at our more in depth guide to Monmouth County BYOBs  and Ocean County BYOBs ). Yes, we know the Jersey Shore spans much farther south. Give us time… our stomachs are getting there!

An Insider’s Guide to Jersey Shore BYOB Restaurants

Drew’s Bayshore Bistro – Keyport

Two words… VooDoo Shrimp! (We just can’t think of much more to say here. Everything on the menu at Drew’s Bayshore Bistro is delicious – it’s Mardi Gras in your mouth!) 44 E Front Street , Keyport 732-739-9219 www.drewsbayshorebistro.com/

Porcini – Highlands

Porcini ‘s young culinary power couple has successfully transformed this small space into a pasta powerhouse. Don’t believe us? Go try it for yourself – and whatever you do, don’t forget to order their homemade linguini with clams, scallops, and shrimp in a delicious white clam broth, which goes perfect with that dry rosé you were saving. 168 Bay Ave, Highlands 732-291-3080 https://restaurantporcini.com/

Toast – Red Bank, Asbury Park, Montclair

Linger over a plate of Disco Eggs and a stack of Red Velvet Pancakes as you and your friends enjoy glasses of spiked OJ and grapefruit juice. After all, Toast’s motto is “Peace, Love, and Pancakes!” It’s a Jersey Shore brunch spot that is here to stay (luckily for us). 45 Monmouth St, Red Bank 732-224-1234 toastredbank.com

The Boondocks Fishery & Grill – Red Bank (SEASONAL)

There’s nothing quite like the Boondocks Fishery in Red Bank during the summer months. It’s one part lobster shack and one part party! Order up your favorite dish and start cracking as you open up some bottles of wine or cold beer and maybe even catch some tunes! There’s nothing quite like a summer night here (if we weren’t clear about it – this place is only open during the summer months, so get there before they head back down to the Keys!)  1 Marine Park, Red Bank 732-747-1777 https://theboondocksfishery.com/

Semolina Restaurant – Red Bank

Taking over the old haunts of one of our favorite restaurants is Semolina Restaurant . Newly opened this past June, it took Red Bank by storm with its fresh pastas and farm-to-table mentality. If it resembles the luxurious and delicious dishes of another seaside Italian restaurant, it should, since owner Chuck Lesbirel of Ama in Sea Bright is behind it. 13 White Street, Red Bank 732-945-6816 www.semolinarestaurant.com

Wally’s – Surf City

For over 50 years, Wally’s has been a family-owned Surf City dining landmark. With an ownership change in 2014, the Tomko family, made it their mission to take Wally’s to the next level. They made sure to maintain the nostalgia and warm welcome, all while increasing menu options to include gluten-free, vegan, family-friendly, and innovative dining options. Stop into Wally’s after a day at the beach, BYOB and dine under the bistro lights strung across Wally’s back patio. 712 Long beach Blvd, Surf City 08008, 609-494-1667 https://www.wallyslbi.com/

Clementine’s Restaurant – Avon-By-The-Sea

Avon may be small, but they are quite mighty when it comes to their restaurants, especially Clementine’s Restaurant , a place where we tend to gravitate to when we’re looking for a beachy, Southern, Cajun, and Creole dinner vibe. 306 Main Street, Avon-By-The-Sea 732-988-7979   http://www.clementinesavon.com/

Christine’s Italian Restaurant – Atlantic Highlands

We’re not sure what our buddies up in Northern Monmouth are doing right, but we can’t complain. Stefano’s – Beach Haven

Outstanding, excellent, extraordinary – adjectives that describe everything from the dishes to the service and atmosphere. There’s a reason locals and visitors alike keep flocking to Stefano’s – and we 100% agree. 1814 Long Beach Blvd., Beach Haven 609-492-1100  https://stefanoslbi.com/

Doña Julia Mexican Restaurant, Pt. Pleasant Beach

Real. Authentic. Mexican. Food. Yes, the periods in between are necessary because we want you to understand just how authentic the food at Doña Julia Mexican Restaurant in Pt. Pleasant Beach actually is. Yes, you can bring as many cervezas as you want, but even if you come empty handed, the owners will still treat you like family and give serve you the (extra) large portion of Chiliquilles.  1308 Richmond Avenue, Pt. Pleasant Beach 732-892-0021 https://www.facebook.com/DonaJuliaMex

booze cruise manasquan nj

Il Giardinello Ristorante, Toms River

Situated just across the street from a very convenient liquor store, Il Giordinello ’s in Toms River has been a long-standing Italian tradition in Toms River. Locals keep returning for the warm atmosphere, deliciously large portions of the Shrimp Pestaciale and Chilean Sea Bass as well as the friendly prices. Our favorite part of our meal is being told that the menu is a guideline. And just like that we go from a pretty good Italian place, to an excellent one!  1232 NJ-166, Toms River 732-286-9111  ilgiardinello.com

booze cruise manasquan nj

Raimondo’s, Ship Bottom

It’s possible you’ve driven by Raimondo ’s in Ship Bottom without stopping before. What may seem like just your ordinary restaurant turns out to be nothing but extraordinary when you start checking out the menu. Offering Italian seafood specialties like Shrimp Oreganata with Broccoli Rabe and Linguini in a very romantic atmosphere, Raimondo’s is the perfect place to bring that fancy bottle of Semillon you’ve been waiting to open.   1101 Long Beach Blvd., Ship Bottom 609-494-5391  www.raimondoslbi.com

booze cruise manasquan nj

Graziano’s, Pt. Pleasant Beach

This old school Italian restaurant takes no prisoners when it comes to their kitchen. Everything from the pizza to the ravioli dishes is a tradition at Graziano ’s in Point Pleasant Beach, which opened back in 1966. Loyal clientele have been coming here for years, with a bottle of red or white in their hands (and we’re fairly certain a break in tradition won’t be happening anytime soon.)  3119 NJ-88, Point Pleasant 732-899-6336  www.grazianosnj.com/

booze cruise manasquan nj

Piccolino Italian Kitchen – Toms River

For some, it’s hard to imagine that such an upscale dining experience could also be a Jersey Shore BYOB. Piccolino Italian Kitchen is one of those gems that locals really have a hard time beating. Great prices, attentive service, and of course the ability to enjoy some Clams Oreganata and Penne Vodka check off our main points for a fantastic (and delicious) evening out. 1177 Fisher Blvd, Toms River, 732-270-2020 https://www.piccolinoitaliankitchen.com/home

booze cruise manasquan nj

Xina Restaurant, Toms River

As a restaurant, when you hit the trifecta (excellent food, service, and scenery), you know you’re “winning” and Xina Restaurant in Toms River is doing just that. A mix of Japanese and Chinese dishes, diners can enjoy all of their favorite sushi rolls along with an extensive oyster raw bar. Bring along a Sapporo six-pack and make it a night to remember.  3430 NJ-37, Toms River 732-279-6327   www.xinarestaurant.com/

The Galley Pizza & Eatery

The Galley Pizza & Eatery isn’t your average pizza joint. They serve real food including Detroit style pies, dry rubbed smoked wings, juicy burgers and house cut fries in a casual setting.
