3 Bewertungen von Studierenden

Bewertungen filtern, viel theorie, wenig praxis.

Erfahrungsbericht weiterlesen

The Bachelor's degree course Aviation Management is an educational offer for students who wish to combine a business management degree in English with a course that places a strong emphasis on the knowledge and understanding of the aviation industry. Students will be given a comprehensive basic education in general business management. The main emphasis of the Bachelor's degree course is on aviation business management.

Besides in-depth general management lectures, students take advanced business courses tailored specifically to the aviation industry, such as Airline Business Models and Strategies, Network Management and Scheduling, Airport Management, Air Cargo and Logistics Management, Aircraft Operation, Air Transport Policy and Aviation Analytics. Thanks to strong interactions with top companies in various segments of the industry, the programme is constantly adjusting to a rapidly evolving environment. For instance, the relatively new field of travel technology, which will gain in importance in the future, is already integrated in the curriculum.

Furthermore, students have a unique opportunity to apply and develop their acquired skills and knowledge in the reality of day-to-day operations of an airline, airport or other aviation companies. Seminars and an Aviation Management Simulation game round off the extended education that prepares students for the challenges of the aviation industry.

The degree programme is divided into three subject groups (196 CP without thesis and colloquium) according to their content, with the following evaluation scheme:

General Management Modules

  • Introduction to Business Administration
  • Introduction to Economics
  • Analytical Methods
  • Accountancy and Financial Reporting
  • Marketing and Sales Management
  • International Business
  • Managerial Accounting and Finance
  • Human Resources Management and Organisational Development

Tourism, Travel and Aviation Management Modules

  • Introduction to Aviation Management
  • Introduction to Tourism and Travel Management
  • Air Transportation Policy and Law
  • Aircraft Operation
  • Airport Management
  • Pricing and Revenue Management
  • Airline Business Models and Strategies
  • Air Cargo and Logistics Management
  • Network Management and Scheduling
  • Aviation Analytics
  • E-Business and Travel Technology Management
  • Elective Seminar: Tourism and Travel Management
  • Professional Air Traffic Management
  • Professional Airport Management
  • Aviation and Environment
  • Business Travel Management
  • Management Simulation Game
  • Elective Seminar: Aviation Management

Management Skills

  • Research Methods, Presentation and Soft Skills
  • Business English
  • Management in Practice I-III (internship, report, presentation)

In addition, students have to write a thesis and pass a colloquium (14 CP) in order to graduate. The content of the modules General Management, Travel and Tourism Management or Aviation Management will be linked to these.

The module Management in Practice describes the internships which students have to complete.

This degree course can be studied either as a full-time degree programme or as a cooperative study course in cooperation with a partner from the aviation industry. The content structure for students of the cooperative study course is identical to the one for students of the full-time degree course. Students of the full-time degree course in particular are expected to gain work experience during their studies, which will be equivalent in length of time and content specifications to those of students in the cooperative study course.

  • Integrated study abroad unit(s)
  • Courses are led with foreign partners
  • Projects with partners in Germany and abroad

Study abroad units are not a mandatory part of the degree programme, but students can optionally undertake part of their studies abroad.

Several internships are to be completed during the semester breaks. Additionally, the whole sixth semester is a practical semester.

For students without a first Bachelor's degree, the studies are free, except for an administration fee of 163.50 EUR for the first semester and 143.50 EUR for each of the following semesters.

Applicants for the degree course Bachelor of Arts in Aviation Management must have a university entrance qualification or university of applied sciences entrance qualification in order to be admitted to the study programme.

In addition to the entrance requirements, applicants for the cooperative study course must prove that they have entered into a contractual relationship with one of the cooperation partners, which includes an internship: e.g. employment contract, apprenticeship contract, internship contract or trainee contract. Prospective students apply directly to the partner companies.

Language test in English with at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference or any equivalent level. The language test can be taken at Worms University of Applied Sciences. Proof of language proficiency must be handed in at the end of the first year of studies at the latest.
