Canadian tourist in Amherst, OH caught on camera violently punching man’s driver side window 12 times in a fit of parking lot road rage

The victim is working with police and leads from social media to identify and charge the man accordingly.

Presumed Ohio resident Tyler Crawford was shocked when a Canadian tourist towing a trailer damaged his SUV and violently attacked his window at an Amherst, OH Target parking lot, all because Crawford didn’t get out of his way fast enough.

You can see Crawford’s Facebook post describing and showing the attack by clicking here. You can also click the screenshot of his post below.

canadian tourist in amherst oh

Since Amherst technically only has one Target, the incident happened at 8000 Oak Point Rd ( exact location on Google Maps linked here. )

“We pulled into the same parking spot at Target as he was turning around with the truck and trailer,” Crawford captions his post.

“When I didn’t move up fast enough for him, he threw something at my car. I stopped to look at him, and he pulled out and sideswiped my car. When I stopped because he sideswiped me with his truck and trailer, he got out of his car and started trying to punch out my window.”

The way I understand what happened is that this man and his wife in their truck and averaged sized camping trailer were trying to get out of this Target parking lot.

If you can imagine, driving a truck with a trailer attached can be difficult, especially when you’re maneuvering in an enclosed area like a parking lot.

Regardless, there is no situation where someone inconveniences your driving so much that justifies you damaging their vehicle, including attempting to break their window with a tool or your bare hands.

As Crawford states, this man used his truck to damage his SUV and violently attacked his driver’s side window with the intention to break it.

“All you had to do was move,” you can hear the road rager yelling as he ran up to his window.

Thankfully, his partner was there to reign his anger in.

Despite the police’s incompetence in the manner, Crawford, with the help of other Facebook users, was able to not only ID the plate, but find out where the truck was purchased.

“The license plate appears to be black and white, plate says AS 64955. (It’s) definitely a Canadian plate and the truck was purchased at Georgian GMC in Ontario, Canada. ”

As this is arguably a hit-and-run with damages, according to Enjuris,

“Charges for leaving the scene of an accident range from a 1st-degree misdemeanor to a 2nd degree felony.”

“Depending on the severity of injuries, penalties can range from no jail time to eight years, fines up to $15,000 and all result in a six-month minimum license suspension.”

If and when Crawford ID’s this man and gets him charged, ignoring a hit-and-run charge, regardless if you drive into Ohio again or not, will likely follow this road rager wherever he goes.

The United States, Mexico, and Canada have an agreement and any fine obtained in either country would be treated the same as if it happened on their home country.

“Please share so we can identify this man. Thanks.,” Crawford concludes his post with.

If it’s black writing on white background….. he would be in Quebec. Ontario. Is blue writing on white background. That’s where I’d start looking

Ontario also uses black on white for commercial vehicles, bus or farm vehicles. He might be driving a company truck.

Quebec also has blue on white for most vehicles and it has the provincial flag on it.

We have more. Most are blue on white but some trucks have black on white and hydrogen or EV green on white.

Truck plates are black and white in Ontario, I have one.

Quebec plates are blue on white. Green on white if electric. Get your facts straight.

Quebec plates are blue on white. Green on white if electric. Only those two styles exist. Get your facts straight buddy.

The best f***ing part of all this dumpster fire, is that EVERYONE can take. 05 seconds to Google what colours are what. What a f***ing waste of time and energy. *Shudders*

Totally wrong, I live in Quebec and our license plates are BLUE and white… except for electrical vehicles which are green and white

Not sure if this is happing across the world, but here in the Netherlands this guy is getting famous, with memes. People having a laugh! https://www.dumpert.nl/item/100066767_6d0b76a1

I’m sure there’s more to the story, always one sided stories

Liberal from Ontario… Sorry from the Conservatives in Alberta Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

You stupid idiot. You know this numbskull was at the truckers rally in Ottawa. Go back to your 1950s fantasy and stay there. You don’t represent Canada or conservatives.

Shut up, snowflake fa***t

Eat a dick bud.

“You know this numskull was at the truckers rally in Ottawa”. Hey DoubleD is a ****ing idiot, your mouth is like a sewer pipe ……. cause nothing but s*** comes out of it. How do you know DoubleD knew this guy was at the truckers rally ? How do you even know this guy was at the truckers rally ?? You don’t, because you don’t know s*** ! And how the f*** do you know what DoubleD represents or doesn’t represent when you don’t even have what it takes just to represent the human race ffs !!! Hey buddy, if clues were shoes, I guarantee you’d be walking around barefoot. Let’s just hope you aren’t able to reproduce. They call that “natural selection” …….. It’s what allows nature to weed out the stupid. You’re probably not even smart enough to know that any reply to my comment is just going to make you look even more stupid. I guess we’ll wait and see, and if you do reply …… well I guess that answers that question huh !!!!!

The language on you! Do you blow your father with that mouth?

Right, pickup truck is definitely the go to truck for liberals. They love the gas guzzling muh freedom!

Meh… bet his other car is a prius, but it won’t tow a camper.

Lol you mean the hick trash?

Meth head for sure

The lunatic should have been shot.

That is an Ontario commercial truck plate. Should be easy for the Ontario Provincial Police to figure out.

at least his famous for being weak punch. youtube meme are everywhere. I doubt he can get out the house without him being seen by people.

I’m shocked I thought Canadians were all about friendly, and maple syrup

I live in Canada and have been in the US many times in the past year and every state I’ve been in the people have been way nicer there than here. I’m ashamed this guy is Canadian, very disgusting behaviour.

Ah yes, libeRats doing their violent thing as always. What a big surprise this is, mhm, sure. I hope he gets caught and put into a small cell, and charged with a lot to pay.

Nice try. Go stroke your gun collection and fantasize more about shooting your fellow man in your movie style BS. I know it’s frustrating being the vast minority but that’s what happens when you have stupid ideas.

“Liberals are violent, and this guy’s violent, so I’m going to assume he’s a liberal, which just goes to prove that liberals are violent.”

I thought in the USA you’re allowed to use a gun on someone if you feel threatened in any way?

Clearly had left his concealed carry home that day. Or else….pew,pew,pew.

I’m not sure why this article mentions Mexico. Am American killed another American in Mexico. The Mexican authorities didn’t to do anything about the case.

Georgian GMC. That’s in Barrie Ontario. But they have his plate, shouldn’t be hard to find out who he is. Everytime I went to the states I really enjoyed it, this guy is just a moron and I hope they get him.

Road Raging Idiot Humbled By Car Window after Punching it 11 Times

Road rage incidents very rarely end without one party thoroughly embarrassing themselves in some way .

Tyler Crawford was minding his own business in an Amherst, Ohio Target parking lot when one such incident occurred, courtesy of a Canadian tourist. It turns out, they're not always very nice.

Crawford posted about the encounter on Facebook , revealing that a man with Canadian plates had thrown something at him, and side-swiped his car while towing a trailer. He also asked for help identifying the man.

"We pulled into the same parking spot at Target as he was turning around with the truck and trailer,” Crawford wrote. "He threw something at my car. I stopped to look at him, and he pulled out and sideswiped my car."

It was then that the man jumped from his truck and proceeded to punch Crawford's window 11 times, all to no avail.

"Bro has pillows for fists," @HBAcrypto commented.

Viewers couldn't decide if the weak punches or the strong Toyota window were more noteworthy. According to an update on Crawford's Facebook, the man has been identified and is being investigated by the police.

Another day, another road rager makes a fool of themselves.

Northeast Ohio is overflowing with natural features, ranging from an incredible diversity of trees and flora to a geomorphological treasure trove of splendor. When it comes to the latter, one of the greatest natural assets Ohio has to offer is Berea sandstone. In some areas, the deposit of Berea sandstone is hundreds of feet thick, thanks to a rich layer of sand and minerals from the Late Devonian, some 350 million years ago. Interestingly, the prominence of stone like this is why dinosaurs haven’t been found in Ohio – the stone here is much, much older. If there’s one town that can claim Berea sandstone as part of its identity, it’s probably not the town you would initially guess… it’s Amherst, Ohio, and it has quite the story to tell. Buckle up, because we’re going to take a trip through time in the Sandstone Capital of the World.

Amherstburg

  • 1.1 History
  • 3 Get around

Amherstburg is a town of about 24,000 people (2021) near the mouth of the Detroit River in Essex County . The small town is rich in history, with several important heritage sites linked to the War of 1812 and the Underground Railroad.

Understand [ edit ]

canadian tourist in amherst oh

Amherstburg is a city of trade and services to support regional agriculture. It has also become known for several wineries in the area.

Local industry includes Diageo, a whiskey distillery that produces the Crown Royal Canadian whiskey, Windsor Mold's Precision Plastics, one of Ontario's largest full-service suppliers of industrial plastics and thermoplastic, and Honeywell Performance Materials and Technology. Marathon Oil has a coke storage site near the river.

History [ edit ]

Across the Detroit River from what developed as the state of Michigan in the United States, the town was permanently established in 1796 as a British military fort overlooking the river's mouth at Lake Erie. Fort Malden was occupied as a garrison. The town was developed by Loyalists who were granted land by the Crown in Upper Canada in compensation for losses in the Thirteen Colonies, or as payment for service in the military, after the British lost the American Revolutionary War. This enabled the Crown to increase population in Upper Canada and develop it. The new settlers built many of their houses in the French style of a century before, giving the new town a historic character. French-speaking colonists also settled here, some who were descendants of the Petite Côte settlement along the river to the north. St. Jean was their Catholic church.

During the days of the Underground Railroad before the American Civil War , fugitive African-American slaves often crossed the river to escape to freedom in Canada, after the Crown abolished slavery. Detroit abolitionists William Lambert and especially George DeBaptiste were key to helping the slaves escape. DeBaptiste owned a lake steamboat which was used to offload fugitives in town while docked ostensibly to load lumber. They used Fort Malden as an entry point to Canada.

When the fort was no longer needed for military purposes, the government adapted it for use as a "lunatic asylum". Its main building was later used as a Port of Entry Money Order office and Post Office savings bank. The town is named after Jeffery Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst, commander of the British forces and first British Governor General of the Province of Quebec (1760).

Get in [ edit ]

Between Amherstburg and Windsor (the nearest local metropolis), there is no regularly scheduled bus line.

Amherstburg Taxi and South Shore Taxi occasionally operate a "shared ride service" from Amherstburg to the Devonshire Mall in Windsor.

Small boats are welcome to call at any one of three local marinas that serve Lake Erie and the Detroit River.

Oh, Canada! 17 Canadian Tourist Traps to Avoid

Posted: June 23, 2023 | Last updated: June 23, 2023

<p>Entrepreneurial Americans are all too happy to see travelers parted from their money at tourist traps across the U.S., but dubious destinations don't stop at the northern border. What makes a place worthwhile as a tourist attraction differs from person to person, but some spots are derided consistently for being overcrowded, overpriced, or otherwise underwhelming. We spoke to travel writers, scoured review sites, and consulted local media to figure out which Canadian hot spots might be better left off the agenda during your next trip. </p>

Northern No-Go

Entrepreneurial Americans are all too happy to see travelers parted from their money at tourist traps across the U.S., but dubious destinations don't stop at the northern border.

<p><strong>Montréal</strong></p> <p>The name "Underground City" sounds undeniably cool. But while Culture Trip notes that it "<a href="https://theculturetrip.com/north-america/canada/quebec/articles/montreals-underground-city-how-to-get-there-what-to-do/">might bring to mind</a> a labyrinth of hidden passages that create a fully developed city below street level," the truth is a bit murkier. For one, much of it isn't actually underground. And what is underground are mostly practical point-A-to-point-B passages with some shopping kiosks and cafes thrown in for good measure. As one Redditor says, it's "a mall with good marketing," skippable in all but the harshest weather.</p>

<p><strong>Coombs, British Columbia</strong></p> <p>You'll know you're in the right place if you see <a href="https://oldcountrymarket.com">goats on the grass-covered roof</a> of this ramshackle roadside market. Gimmick? Sure. But many travelers <a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/old-country-market-coombs">love the Old Country Market</a> for its quirks even though they acknowledge it's a tourist trap. This might not be a spot to scratch off the list entirely — just go early or late to miss busloads of cruise-ship tourists, and be prepared to spend. The market is packed with a ton of bizarre foods, toys, and other products that may or may not have anything to do with Canada, but hey: You're here for the goats.</p>

<p><strong>Banff, Alberta</strong></p> <p>The term "hot springs" inspires visions of steaming natural pools, thick forests and, most of all, solitude and relaxation. Gopher Hole Museum

Torrington, Alberta

Here's the good news about the tiny Gopher Hole Museum : It costs only a couple bucks to get in. The bad news? Well, you'll be paying that couple of bucks to gaze upon bizarre dioramas of stuffed, costumed gophers playing pool, collecting mail from the post office, fishing, getting their hair done, and assorted other day-to-day activities that usually aren't on a gopher's agenda. Quirky? You bet. Worth an hour or two's drive from Calgary or Banff? For all but the most hard-core taxidermy enthusiasts, likely not.

The Best things to do in Amherst, Nova Scotia

Visit Amherst Nova Scotia

And see why we love it, too!

Amherst, Nova Scotia, is located in the geographic centre of the Maritime provinces, and it is Cumberland County’s largest town. It’s full of beautiful sandstone buildings, unique artwork, museums, galleries and exciting dining and shopping opportunities. It’s also just a stone’s throw away from the Bay of Fundy, within easy access to waterfalls, beaches, wineries and lighthouses. We recently spent two days in Amherst, and here are a few of our favourite discoveries.

Birkinshaw’s Tea Room

We’ve been hearing friends rave about Birkinshaw’s Tea Room for months, so of course, this was the first stop on our Amherst list and ended up being the highlight as well! This delightful, award-winning gem (featured in Chatelaine’s Top 10 Places for Afternoon Tea in Canada) wears many hats. It’s a restaurant serving tantalizing global dishes, including what my partner tells me is one of the best sandwiches he’s ever eaten. It is a coffee house serving fair-trade coffee roasted in nearby Truro. It is a tea room, serving a variety of afternoon teas (don’t be fooled by the name – these are all complete meals!) and cream tea, served with scones, preserves and homemade clotted cream.

This visit was my first experience with cream tea and clotted cream, and let’s say I’ve developed a bit of an obsession, both with the irresistibly sweet taste of clotted cream-smothered scones and with the ritual itself. There’s something incredibly appealing about drinking tea out of a vintage china cup and saucer. Choosing your next freshly-made scone from an exquisite 3-tiered tray and learning all about British afternoon tea etiquette. All in a relaxed, friendly environment where it doesn’t matter if you don’t remember which knife to use!

Co-owner Adrian told us about the real-world Downton Abbey life he led vicariously through his grandfather, who was a butler to aristocratic families in England. His grandfather’s impeccable standards have been passed down and are evident everywhere at Birkinshaw’s. This place is pure perfection, but don’t take our word for it – make a reservation and find out!

Oh, and if you want to sample the most fabulously tricked-out milkshake in the world, order a Freakshake. We dare you to finish it all yourself.

Best Places to enjoy English Tea in Nova Scotia

Mural Walking Tour

We have the perfect solution if you want to work off some of those scone calories after tea. Embark on a mural walking tour around town! The Amherst Mural Project began back in 1996, and consisted of a dozen murals – eleven remain to this day – by different artists, intending to beautify downtown Amherst. (Mission accomplished.) The impressively detailed murals cover subjects as varied as hockey heroes, the role of women in Amherst, the history of transportation, and even poltergeists.

Amherst Nova Scotia Traveller

Tree Sculptures

While you’re hunting for murals, keep your eyes peeled for a handful of tree sculptures scattered throughout the downtown area. The first tree sculpture, Acadian Settler, was commissioned in 2004 to commemorate the World Acadian Congress. Since then, plenty of other “tree people” have joined the Acadian Settler, including the North Nova Scotia Highlanders Piper and Four Fathers of Confederation. All are meticulously carved by a local artist.

Cumberland Museum

We love learning about the history of the places we visit. So often, a historic house or museum is one of our first stops. Lucky for us, Amherst’s Cumberland County Museum and Archives is a treasure trove of natural and human history in the form of curated displays and extensive archives. The museum, housed in beautiful Grove Cottage, dating back to 1838, was once the home of one of Amherst’s four Fathers of the Canadian Confederation. Come here to explore your own genealogy. Marvel at the collection of 19th-century artefacts, or wander through the lovely gardens.

Fort Lawrence and Beaubassin

Looking out across these beautifully idyllic fields today, you’d never guess that this bucolic scene was the site of a clash between empires hundreds of years ago. Long used by the local Mi’kmaq people, this land was the site of an Acadian settlement from the 1670s on. As the heart of a critical trading network, it was also a site of strategic importance to both the British and French. General Cornwallis, the Governor of Nova Scotia, arrived in 1750, forcing the Acadians to burn their village and flee into nearby French territory. The British later established Fort Lawrence here, at the disputed border between Acadia and Nova Scotia. Today, no structures remain. However, the site has yielded an abundance of archaeological artefacts and is a poignant reminder of the area’s tragic and contentious history.

Joggins Fossil Cliffs

Less than half an hour from Amherst, a visit to Joggins Fossil Cliffs make for an excellent day trip. A visit to this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a chance to step back millions of years into the past. You won’t even need a time-travelling DeLorean. Millions of years ago, this area was covered with swampy forests that created coal deposits. Today, you have the opportunity to explore the vast quantities of fossils that were left behind and are revealed every time the tide goes out. The site is constantly changing as more fossils are exposed and washed away. We saw a 300-million-year-old fossilized tree when we visited. Who knows what you’ll discover! Book a tour to benefit from your guide’s expert knowledge. Then take a spin through the fascinating museum and gift shop.
