Warped Tour 2014 is the 20th annual Summer Warped Tour festival. Vans Shoes is again the tour's primary sponsor. The tour dates were announced on November 20, 2013. [1] Bands announcements began on December 4 at 11:00 PM during Warped Roadies on Fuse . The Warped Tour 2014 kick off party took place on April 1, 2014 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California featuring performances by Bad Rabbits , Issues , One Ok Rock , Secrets , This Wild Life, Watsky , and Wax . [2] The tour is set to return to Montreal for the first time in two years. On February 7, 2014, it was announced that the Warped Tour would visit Alaska for the first time for a pre-tour "The Road to Warped" show. [3] The entire first date ( June 13 at Houston ) was streamed live on the tour's website.

The 2014 Vans Warped Tour is liable to be filled with surprises, hopefully of epic proportions, as the tour (which is already America's longest running touring festival) will be celebrating its 20th year on the road.

That's sure to lead to some big names, as well as some big rumors, on the lineup for the tour.

An official rumor?

Shot in the Dark - Corona, CA band Shot In The Dark became the first band officially announced for next year's tour when Lyman announced on his Twitter feed that they'd been signed. A band formed just this year at the West Coast Rock School of Corona, California, the band is fronted by 11-year-old Jacob Chabot, with Jarod DeShong (12) on drums, Austin Schmidt (16) on lead guitar, Taylor Martino (14) on rhythm guitar, and Spike Snyder (15) on bass guitar. Lyman also tweeted that "11 year old Jacob is a bad ass," and I'm inclined to agree. While Shot In The Dark has yet to record or release anything, their YouTube channel has a collection of live clips exhibiting some serious rock from these pint-sized rockers.

Here are the bands we've heard rumored for the tour so far.

According to a few message boards online , Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman posted some rumors regarding the band's appearance next year. Depending on the source, Lyman either said something to the effect of "look for NOFX next year," or that they "may play next year." A scour of his twitter feed reveals no such posts, so it may have been deleted. The one thing that's known for certain is that NOFX has been announced to be headlining the Rebellion Fest in Blackpool, England in the summer of 2014, so if they are going to be making an appearance at Warped, it won't be for the entire run.

He's the hardest partier in rock and roll, a self-professed brony, and known for bringing energetic sets to the Vans Warped Tour, so it would be no surprise if Andrew WK showed up on the 20th anniversary tour. Another rumor (this one verifiable) has arisen from Kevin Lyman's twitter, based on an exchange between Lyman and Andrew WK back in April.

@KevinLyman Just thinking about you and all the amazing times, and wanted to say THANK YOU and PARTY HARD, Kevin!

To which Lyman replied:

@AndrewWK save aug 9 and 10th 2014 for the 20th anniversary decades show have to have you on the show, to party hard with all the bands

Who knows if the exchange carries any weight, or if it was just a bit of rock and roll pillow talk? We'll see if it transforms into actual dates.

Bring Me The Horizon

Pupfresh.com has posted that British metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oliver Sykes announced at the West Palm Beach date of the Warped Tour that they would be back on the tour in 2014. Again, while it would be no surprise if these Warped Tour veterans made the trek in 2014, I am leery of giving too much weight to these sort of statements, possibly made while under the influence of the adoration of the fans. Back in 1999, Ice T announced at the end of an incredible set in Detroit that his hardcore band Body Count had been signed to play in 2000, something that never transpired. That being said, a reunited Body Count is playing at the 2013 Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, so perhaps Kevin should get on the phone and get them to deliver on that promise that Ice T made over a decade ago...

This is one that sits firmly in the realm of rumor and speculation, In October, Kevin Lyman posted this on his Twitter feed:

do any of you guys remember @oreskaband think we should try to get them back on warped

Without the inclusion of punctuation, it's tough to tell if he's asking his followers if he should try to get the all-girl Japanese ska group back, or if he's saying he thinks he should try to get them back. What's known for sure is that they were on the tour in 2008 , and Lyman was a big fan. I caught their set at his insistence, and whole-heartedly agree. They played fast tight ska punk that hammered it's way through the barriers set up by the band's limited English. OreSkaBand released Hot Number in February of this year, and if they return to Warped, there's a good chance they'll be one of the hottest numbers on this year's tour.

Who will not be playing the 2014 Vans Warped Tour?

Touché amoré.

Although it's too soon the fully explore the lineup of the 2014 Vans Warped Tour, it's definite that one band will not be on the tour, and that's Los Angeles-based post-hardcore band Touché Amoré. When asked by OC Weekly if the band would ever play Warped Tour frontman Jeremy Bolm said:

No way, not at all. Nothing against our friends who have done it. Last year, Title Fight; this year, Defeater is doing it, which is fine. I appreciate that there are honest bands that are on it. There are kids who have no idea about this world, who if they see a band like Title Fight or a band like Defeater that maybe it will open their eyes a little bit to our world as opposed to a world with misogyny and ignorance and nothing to offer any-body which is what 95 percent of what Warped Tour is. It's a bit of a convoluted statement that's heavily laden with PC buzzwords and no concrete example, but while I'm not sure what it is about 95 percent of Warped Tour that makes it filled with "misogyny and ignorance", it's certain that Bolm is not in love with the tour. We'll be keeping track of more rumors regarding the 2014 Vans Warped Tour as they arise, and we also want to hear from you: who are you hoping will turn out in order to help Lyman and the Warped Tour celebrate the beginning of their second decade?

Vans Warped Tour PNC Music Pavilion July 28, 2014

The annual rite-of-passage music festival known as the Vans Warped Tour brought dozens of bands to Charlotte's PNC Music Pavilion on Monday for a long, hot day full of music. Here are the biggest takeaways from this year's event:

* One of the best bands I saw all day was California punk rockers Plague Vendor . Singer Brandon Blaine commands attention as he danced, gyrated and bounced his thin shirtless frame around the stage like the best combination of Iggy Pop and Nick Cave. Of the nearly 30 bands I saw, Plague Vendor is at the top of my list to see again.

* Second on that list? Bad Rabbits . The Boston rock 'n' soul outfit brought a completely different kind of laid-back energy to the usually hardcore festival.

* Worst band of the day honors go to Atilla. It's the worst possible combination of hip-hop and hardcore you can imagine. Actually, it's probably worse than that. You can thank them for creating the phrase, "Suck My Fuck," too. Keep it classy, kids.

* Most improved performance goes to Echosmith who was notches better than their weak side-stage performance last year . While the band still needs to break out of it's "we've only got three moves" style of stage presence, sonically it was solid.

* Warped Tour is known for its array of bad tattoos and overdone piercings, but this year's can-do-without accessory? Leg scars. There's nothing to joke about with cutting , and I was absolutely floored by the number of girls I saw with numerous red marks scarring their legs. Thanks to the current "look how short my shorts are" fashion, they were impossible to miss. Please, ladies, there are better ways to cope with pain and frustration. There is even a massive tent set up each year at Warped Tour to help battle it thanks to To Write Love on Her Arms .

The Devil Wears Prada Join Lineup for 2014 Vans Warped Tour

It's still several months away, but band announcements are already being made for the 2014 edition of Warped Tour . The  Devil Wears Prada are the latest addition to the lineup of the annual festival, which kicks off its 20th year June 14 in Salt Lake City (watch a preview video above).

TDWP will be playing the entire run, going through Aug. 3. They are Warped veterans, having played the tour three previous times: 2008, 2009 and 2011.

Many more bands will be announced in the coming months, but so far about 20 artists are confirmed for Warped 2014, including Attila, A Skylit Drive, the Color Morale, For Today, Saves the Day and the Ghost Inside.

The Devil Wears Prada's latest album '8:18' was released last year. In a recent interview with Loudwire , frontman Mike Hranica talked about the disc.

"I think every time we do a new record it reflects where we are at that point in our lives to a certain point," Hranica says. "I mean, we are growing up. Chris and Jeremy are both married and Chris even has a child now. If you’re going to make real music then it has to reflect at least a little part of what you’re going through in life."

Hranica continues: "I think it all comes down to whether or not you want to make a product or piece of art. If you don’t let your life in, you’re just making a product, so be it and that’s fine. But that’s not us. We have things to say and so to not let our music reflect our life is just not within our process."

Before Warped begins, TDWP will be traversing the globe, with concert dates scheduled for Asia and Europe, with one U.S. date in Grand Prairie, Texas on March 16.

15 must-see acts on the 2014 Vans Warped Tour (photo gallery)

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The next week will surely seem like heaven to Northeast Ohio music fans who did post-hardcore, metalcore and pop-punk music.

Not only does this year's Vans Warped Tour (which turns 20) stop at Blossom Music Center on July 17 (Tickets HERE ), but several of the tour's acts will also appear at the inaugural  AP Music Awards in Cleveland four days later.

The Warped Tour will feature several of those scenes' hottest acts. Here are 15 to look out for:

You'd be hard pressed to find a more consistent band on this year's Warped Tour than Anberlin. The alt-rock band has steadily releasing good music since 2003. Anberlin's most memorable Warped Tour run came in 2007 as it road the wave of its breakthrough album "Cities." This year's performance should include a few new songs as the band's latest album, "Lowburn," drops on July 22.

Anthony Raneri/Bayside

Queens punk-rock band Bayside certainly knows how to put on a show, but fans will get a special treat at this year's Warped Tour. Frontman Anthony Raneri will be pulling double-duty by performing some his excellent solo material on the tour's "Acoustic Basement Stage."

Beebs and Her Money Makers

Beebs and Her Money Makers will stick out on this year's Warped Tour, but that's a good thing. The band's ska-punk sound is reminiscent of Reel Big Fish (who Beebs recently toured with). Beebs and Her Money Makers are also featured on Fuse's "Warped Roadies" reality show.

Bowling For Soup

Bowling for Soup is one of the most seasoned acts on this year's Warped Tour, having been going strong since the mid 1990s. The band is best known for its only major hit "1985." But 12 studio albums, including last year's "Lunch. Drunk. Love." should make for quiet the set.

Cute Is What We Aim For

It'll be interesting to see what Buffalo-band Cute Is What We Aim For has to offer on this year's tour. The band made waves in 2006 as the new upstart on Fueled by Ramen, but lineup changes slowed its progress. The original lineup is back together with new music and a possible new album on the way.

Every Time I Die

With a new album, "From Parts Unknown," that may be the band's best effort to date, Every Time I Die will be one of the more buzzed about acts at Warped. Its intense brand of metalcore, which will be felt at every end of Blossom Music Center, doesn't hurt either.

Falling in Reverse

Falling in Reverse has been one of Warped Tour's most reliable acts over the past two years, which isn't likely to change in 2014. The band's first two albums debuted in the top-20 on the Billboard 200 chart and its recent single "Alone" landed in the top 30 on Billboard's Rock Songs chart.

Front Porch Step

Not everyone at Warped Tour rocks hard, which has made the Acoustic Basement Stage a highlight in recent years. That's where you'll find Newark, Ohio act Front Porch Step, whose music centers on strong storytelling and love stories that stay with you.

Ice Nine Kills

Over the years, Warped Tour has transitioned from a heavy does of pop-punk acts to a more metal/post-hardcore focus. That's helped acts like Ice Nine Kills, whose live shows are an onslaught of intense and emotionally driven metalcore.

The breakout rapper from this year's Warped Tour could be K.Flay, whose debut album, "Life As A Dog" (released in January), is adding to her already solid buzz. K.Flay's pop savvy rhymes are aimed at the Iggy Azalea set, which means they're aimed at everyone.

Mike Herrera

Musician Mike Herrera has been a busy man since taking a break from MxPx in 2012. He formed a new project called Tumbledown and will hit the Acoustic Basement Stage for a few dates at this year's Warped Tour (including the stop in Cuyahoga Falls).

Of Mice & Men

It wasn't too long ago that Of Mice & Men was the new kid on the block. Now the California metalcore-act is one of the biggest bands on this year's tour. The band's most recent album, "Restoring Force," cracked the top-five on the Billboard 200 chart in January.

We Are The In Crowd

For the past three years, people have been calling We Are The In Crowd the next Paramore. That's not exactly a bad trajectory to be on. WATIC has yet to have a monster hit (a la "Misery Business"), but the band is getting closer thanks to the success of its sophomore album, "Weird Kids," released in February.

We The Kings

We The Kings became a fixture on pop radio during the late 2000s with "Check Yes Juliet" and a well-timed collaboration with Demi Lovato. Things have slowed a bit since then, but the band did release fourth album, "Somewhere Somehow," this past December after switching record labels.

It was 11 years ago that Yellowcard released its breakthrough album, "Ocean's Avenue." A decade later, expect those songs to help the band draw one of the biggest crowds at this year's Warped Tour.

About the festival headliner - Bring Me The Horizon

Bring Me the Horizon, often known by the acronym BMTH, are a British rock band from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Formed in 2004, the group currently consists of vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls and keyboardist Jordan Fish. They are signed to RCA Records globally and Columbia Records exclusively in the United States. The style of their early work, including their debut album Count Your Blessings, has primarily been described as deathcore, but they started to adopt a more eclectic style of metalcore on subsequent albums. Furthermore, their latest album That's the Spirit marked a shift in their sound to less aggressive rock music styles. Bring Me the Horizon released their debut album Count Your Blessings in 2006. Upon release, the album was met with great polarisation amongst the public and critical disdain. The band began to break away from their controversial sound with Suicide Season (2008), which proved to be a creative, critical and commercial turning point for the band. Bring Me the Horizon then released their third album There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret. In 2010, propelling them to greater international fame, whilst incorporating influences from classical, electronica and pop. Their major label debut, Sempiternal (2013) achieved Gold certification in Australia (35,000) and Silver in the United Kingdom (60,000). That's the Spirit (2015) debuted at number two in the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. Aside from these five albums, they have also released two extended plays and two live albums. They have received four Kerrang! Awards, including two for Best British Band and one for Best Live Band.
