Coldplay announce two dates at Dublin's Croke Park
COLDPLAY have announced two dates for Dublin in 2024 as part of their record-breaking world tour.
After a sellout run of European stadium shows this year, the Croke Park dates have been confirmed as August 29 and August 30.
Irish fans won't have long to wait for the chance to get tickets, with the pre-sale for both dates going live next Tuesday, July 25.
Demand is certain to be high as the Music Of The Spheres World Tour has already sold 7.5m tickets since it first started in 2022, and is now the record for any tour lasting over two years.

Accolades for the massive live shows have already picked up accolades including Favourite Touring Artist at the 2022 AMAs and Tour of The Year at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards.
Frontman Chris Martin famously declared before that he wouldn't undertake such large tours until it could be done in a more environmentally friendly way.
Backing up this claim, a report by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology claimed the current tour has so far produced 47 per cent les CO2 emissions than their previous stadium tour in 2016/17 on a show-by-show basis, with five million trees also planted around the world, one for each concert goer so far.

Since the first Music Of The Spheres World Tour date in March 2022, Coldplay have sold more than 7.5 million tickets – the most for any tour over the last two years. The tour has also received rave reviews from fans and critics alike, picking up accolades including Favorite Touring Artist at the 2022 AMAs and Tour of The Year at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards.
Last month, a report by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology revealed that Coldplay’s current tour has so far produced 47% less CO2e emissions than their previous stadium tour in 2016/17 (on a show-by-show comparison), and that 5 million trees have already been planted around the world (one for each concert goer so far).

Coldplay Announce 2023 Tour Dates
By Matthew Strauss
Coldplay have announced 2023 dates on their world tour in support of Music of the Spheres . Next year, the band will perform in Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Find Coldplay’s schedule and a trailer for the tour below.
Coldplay famously declined to tour in support of Everyday Life for environmental reasons. The band has set out to make the Music of the Spheres World Tour more sustainable, with a press releasing touting concerts powered entirely by renewable energy. For example, there have been solar panels and wind turbines at every venue to help power the shows.

What have Coldplay said about the Music of the Spheres tour?
Ahead of the COP26 summit last year, Coldplay stated that they wished for the Music of the Spheres tour to be one of the greenest in history as they pushed to make their event more environmentally friendly.
The band told social media platform Twitter at the time: “We’ve been planning this tour for years, and we’re super excited to play songs from across our whole time together.
“At the same time, we’re very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis.
“So we’ve spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour’s potential to push things forward.
“We won’t get everything right, but we’re committed to doing everything we can and sharing what we learn."
They added: “It’s a work in progress and we’re really grateful for the help we’ve had so far.
"If you’d like to come to a show and sing with us, we’re so excited to see you.”
As well as the "show battery", which has been supplied by BMW to run the show via renewable energy, there are many other ways during the concert where fans can get involved to make the event more sustainable.
At the concerts, there are kinetic floors placed in certain locations so that fans' movements can be converted into energy, and there are also electricity-generating pedal bikes so fans can actively charge the show's batteries.
These sustainable alternatives will replace the usual diesel and petrol generators, which will reduce the carbon footprint of the tour.

It’s difficult to imagine a time when Coldplay weren’t around. From ‘Yellow’ and ‘Viva La Vida’ to ‘A Sky Full of Stars’, the band’s music is ubiquitous across TV ads, cheesy club remixes, primary school discos and parents’ CD collections. Their popularity is intergenerational and far-reaching – for proof, you only have to look at countless sold-out stadium shows from their current ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour.
Chris Martin and co have been on tour since 2022 and have just announced even more dates for summer 2024. Though the UK has not been blessed with more shows, the band will be coming to Ireland for the first time in seven years. The tour so far has been praised for its commitment to sustainability and ambitious colourful production. The Guardian called it 'one massive euphoric singalong' while NME praised it as 'a fantastical, feel-good bonanza that delivers on a bold promise.'

Coldplay announce affordable €20 ‘infinity tickets’ for Dublin shows
Katy Thornton
Following yesterday’s Taylor Swift misery, this comes as welcome news.
Yesterday Coldplay announced their first shows in Dublin in six years, confirming they will play two shows in Croke Park on August 29th and August 30th 2024.
The global sensations are bringing their Music Of The Spheres World Tour back to Europe next summer with a string of concerts lined up in June, July, and August after an Irish snub on their current tour dates.
In more good news, it has also been confirmed by the band that there will be a limited supply of what’s known as ‘ Infinity Tickets ‘ available to buy at a later date for the upcoming gigs.
ICYMI: Coldplay has announced a slew of new dates in Europe next year ✨ They will be performing for the first time ever in Greece, Romania and Finland 🌟 Infinity Tickets will be available at a later date 💫 Over 7.5 millions tickets sold so far 🎫 https://t.co/bp3Aycu7Pj pic.twitter.com/NjfYJRz1Tz — ColdplayXtra (@coldplayxtra) July 20, 2023
Coldplay announce limited supply of Infinity Tickets for Dublin gigs
According to MCD , “Infinity Tickets are released for every Coldplay show to make the Music Of The Spheres World Tour accessible to fans for an affordable price.
“They will cost the equivalent of €20 per ticket. They are restricted to a maximum of two tickets per purchaser, and must be bought in pairs (which will be located next to each other).”
The only catch is that you won’t be able to choose where you sit . So, depending on your luck, you may be very close to Coldplay on stage or at the very back of Croker. Either way, it’s an exceptional deal and a great gesture from the band.
The tickets are sold for those who might not normally be able to afford a regular price ticket, a welcome reprieve for music fans who may be overwhelmed by the rising prices of concert tickets.
Just this week, hordes of Taylor Swift fans complained about being priced out of tickets to the singer’s three nights in the Aviva Stadium next year as part of her Eras tour. Reports suggested some tickets were as expensive as €700 on Ticketmaster.
The pre-sale for Coldplay tickets takes place at 10 am on Tuesday, July 25th. The general sale will take place at 10 am on Friday, July 28th.
Fans can register for tickets at Coldplay.com now.

Tickets to see Coldplay at Croke Park next August sold out in less than an hour on Friday morning, Ticketmaster has confirmed.
The general sale for the British band's four 2024 dates in Dublin kicked off at 10am on Friday, following earlier presales on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
But just 55 minutes into Friday's main sale, Ticketmaster confirmed there were no more tickets remaining.
READ MORE - Coldplay tickets: Ticketmaster says website 'did not crash' during Dublin presale
In a social media post, the ticketing giant said: "@Coldplay were super popular this morning, and tickets are now sold out.
"Sorry to those who missed out this time."
However they did offer some hope to disappointed fans, adding: "Please keep an eye on our official Fan-To-Fan Ticket Exchange for tickets becoming available at a future date."
Resale tickets for Coldplay in Dublin
Ticketmaster allows the reselling of tickets on its platform by fans who can no longer attend certain upcoming concerts.
Given that Coldplay's Irish dates are over a year away, it's highly likely that tickets will pop up on the platform much closer to the time as well as in the coming months.
Online complaints
However many fans were left outraged that general sale tickets for all four dates at the 82,300-capacity stadium sold out in under an hour.
Hundreds of comments were left under Ticketmaster's official Twitter post confirming tickets were now sold out for all four Dublin concerts.
One frustrated Twitter user wrote : "How can I be 4,800 in the queue and it’s sold out when I get to the top? Absolutely ridiculous. How many tickets were sold in [the presales] for each date? And how many were left for general sale today???"
Another Coldplay fan claimed : "Followed your rules, logged on and managed to be 4,200 or so in the queue. Waited, didn't change browser/device/not logged in multiple times.
"Got to 20 in the queue – and suddenly your system tells me there is a problem, and I am re-queued. No chance of a ticket. Shambles."
While another said : "How could I have joined the queue at 2,000 and no tickets left when I got through? I’ve been a regular Ticketmaster customer for all sorts of big gigs, festivals etc. It’s never been so difficult to secure tickets."
Buzz has contacted promoters MCD to clarify how many tickets were available to fans in the two presales and later on in the general sale this week, and is awaiting a response.

I had always heard Coldplay were a fantastic band to see live. They did not disappoint last night at Fedex Field, right in the midst of their joyous and decidedly over-the-top Head Full of Dreams tour.
The show began with an explosion of color and light (including the LED wristbands supplied to every concertgoer) in the titular track on the band's touring album. Then came fan-favorite "Yellow," followed by "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," the ever-popular "The Scientist," and "Birds" (the latter was a bit of a personal disappointment as it replaced the brilliant "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" from recent setlists). This part of the show finished with the anthem "Paradise," featuring an incredible remix outro.
Next the show slowed down for an intimate trio of songs (most of us actually took a seat). This included one of the better tracks from the sub-par "Ghost Stories", "Magic."
Soon, however, things picked up with the timeless piano strokes of "Clocks," themed to a magical red light show. Next came the lighthearted "Charlie Brown." Before it began, lead singer Chris Martin asked everyone to put away their phones and simply enjoy the show. This was followed by the radio hit "Hymn for the Weekend," a candlelit (okay...Iphone flashlight lit) "Fix You," and "Viva la Vida." This last one was remarkable, as nearly the entire stadium knew the lyrics and sang along to the triumphant "Oh-oh-ohhhh" chant. The groovy "Adventure of a Lifetime" finished off this section, featuring Chris gettin' down with the audience, asking everyone to "Get low!"
Then came the highlight of the night for me: an acoustic quad of older (*cough* better *cough*) Coldplay songs which were as intimate as they were nostalgic. The lovely riffs of "In my Place" started off the set. "Don't Panic" was sung by drummer Will Champion; it's one of my favorites. But it couldn't top what was (for me) the best song of the night: "Trouble." Somber but beautiful in its own way, "Trouble" is a rare find in the setlists of today's Coldplay and was absolutely fantastic. Finally came another rare gem: "Green Eyes," which was somewhat marred by Chris's well-intentioned attempt at giving the local Redskins some luck (HA! what folly) by changing the lyrics.
The finale of the show was the hopeful and popular trio of "Something Just like This," "A Sky Full of Stars," and "Up and Up." This last track was played against the backdrop of the magical and visually stunning music video for the song.
And if there were two adjectives to sum up the show as a whole, they would be just that: magical and visually stunning. Thanks for an awesome show, Coldplay!

First of all I need to just say wow! Wow! Yesterday I experienced one of the greatest nights of my life. Yesterday I really did feel like I was part of something special, something so big and beautiful. The love, the happiness and the excaitment people were feeling last night were something you can't put words on. We stood in the rain for so many hours, we sat in a que and then we stood in the rain again.. but let me just say that when Coldplay came on stage they put on the best god damn show ever. You could really feel their thankfulness during the show. They promised us (in Chris Martins own words) "The best fucking show ever" and let me tell you it was! During the night I got to experience people from different countries dancing and singing along together, I got to experience that moment when Chris decided to write a new song about Sweden and Gothenburg! The night was amazing in so many ways. And just as he said during the night, that he believes when people are working together and last night everybody in that arena stood together. We celebrated the music, the evening and most of all we celebrated the love. Because in the end of the day Love is what matters and it will always win.
Yesterday was beautiful, just pure beautiful!
A Coldplay concert is a real face to face experience for a someone who love their songs. It may not be an intimate experience but considering the legions of fans that they have only a concert can accommodate everyone who are waiting all their lives for a chance to hear them live. and they never disappoint. A total performance complete with lasers and light and firework BUT without much fanfare, just them singing & playing their hearts OUT song after song alone or in harmony with the fans some crying, most gleefully dancing to their upbeat song or swaying OR slow dancing to slow Fix You or Yellow and probably thinking of someone they "cannot replace". Chris Martin is an awesome guy and so are the rest of the band. May their personal lives be as awesome as their professional lives, they deserve that too. as to Singapore, it may not be as engaging as it would be in the Philippines but hey, no one can complain; i had the best time celebrating my birthday in one of the best stadium this side of town with around 50K Coldpay fans celebrating with me :) :). Long live Coldplay, may you continue to bring joy to you fans worldwide. Looking forward to another Coldplay concert experience in the future.
