David Gu, founder of mirror retailer Neutypechic , spends an unfathomable amount of time on planes; hollowed-out eyes are the tell-tale giveaway. That’s why he is a Tata Harper loyalist. “This eye cream helps to reduce puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines,” Gu says. “It also contains antioxidant-rich ingredients that help to protect against free radical damage and prevent future wrinkles.” The compact size makes it ideal for packing light, and the balm is thick enough that he never worries about spillage.

Raccoon eyes don’t stand a chance against this airy-light serum from Charlotte Tilbury. The vegan formula incorporates cooling aloe vera, buttery shea oil, and caffeine for a speedy pick-me-up. It’s the serum’s more unusual ingredients (amethyst, moonstone powders, and Swiss ice wine essence), however, that really give it an edge, lighting up a dog-tired face after the cruelest of red-eyes.

Not only is this 15-ml wand TSA-approved, the soothing gel glides on seamlessly with the help of a smartly curved applicator. Neuropeptides in this slick, plant-based serum help conceal fine lines and wrinkles, while sodium acetylated hyaluronate moisturizes dry skin—a blessing during tarmac delays.

Cindy Ngo, founder of Ink + Porcelain design studio in Oakland, California, sings the praises of this cultishly revered, deeply moisturizing cream, calling it her “holy grail.” “I always have it in my bag for a quick fix and know that it'll liven up my look,” Ngo says. She also likes that the formula, which contains hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, is clean and vegan. 

Jessie Moore, the U.K.–based photographer and travel writer behind Pocket Wanderings , has road tested numerous eye creams over the years. Origins’ Ginzing is the only one she’s found that “genuinely brightens” the panda rings under her eyes. The cream is formulated with Vitamin C, ginseng, and a pop of caffeine—a combination fashion blogger Kiki Baltzi also credits for getting her through “zero sleep” fashion weeks. “This eye cream helps me fight puffiness,” says Baltzi, who applies it twice a day with a pink quartz roller that she keeps in the fridge. “It makes me look like I slept 10 hours.”

This calming jelly, dispensed via a stainless steel roller ball, is the next best thing to glazing your face with Greek yogurt. The probiotics help reduce inflammation, Greek espresso acts as a stimulating antioxidant, and honeysuckle and jasmine give the gel a pleasant floral scent. Plus, the 15-ml vial is the perfect size to toss in your carry-on.

Travel consultant Katrina Warren has been using this serum for four years because “it’s small enough to fit in any travel kit and lighter than a cream.” The latter, she notes, is particularly important to her as a woman of color who has struggled with a white cast from other creams. The Vitamin C in BioLumin-C also helps Warren’s skin snap back to life after an exhausting flight.

Jessie Kuo, co-founder of Los Angeles–based matcha retailer Nekohama , travels frequently for work and swears by Amorepacific’s Time Response eye cream, a green tea-powered cream that works wonders to counter dullness. She has been using it for four years to “brighten and moisturize” around her eyes after cross-country flights, patting it on before she boards and after she deplanes. The result: “You can’t tell that I’ve barely slept!” Kuo says.

“I’ve been on more horrendous 10-plus-hour flights than I care to count,” says Alex Gillard, wildlife photographer and the founder of Nomad Nature Travel . “I’m also six-foot-two, so there is zero chance that I get even a single second of sleep in an economy class seat.” A flight attendant friend recommended Ole Henriksen’s collagen-infused Banana Bright eye cream to him a few years ago and he’s been slathering it on every flight since. “The difference is really striking,” says Gillard. “It hydrates the skin under my eyes so it doesn't look so sallow, and it contains banana pigment, which brightens the skin.”

She chases that with Lancôme’s Advanced Génifique wrinkle and dark circle eye cream, a formula punched up with Vitamin C and nourishing hyaluronic acid. “It quenches my dehydrated skin while I’m up in the air and visibly reduces the appearance of dark circles,” she says.

Gold has been used to lift, firm, and brighten faces for millennia; even Cleopatra incorporated the precious metal into her beauty routine. These gilded eye patches from Peter Thomas Roth are super chic, but they’re also comfortable enough to wear in-flight, says Amy Siegal, a travel advisor at Valerie Wilson Travel . Siegal wears the luxe patches both on the plane and after she lands to combat dryness and puffiness. She likes them so much, in fact, she gifts them to clients before their own big trips.

Vancouver –based content creator Kathryn Anderson travels often for work and says this combo kit keeps the zombie look at bay. “The powerful duo actually does what it says it does,” says Anderson of Chanel’s renewing roll-on serum and hydrogel eye patches. “The results are nothing short of incredible.” Whether she’s on a long-haul flight or a short evening jaunt, she slaps on the eye patches one hour before landing. “I don’t even need to wash my face or redo my makeup,” says Anderson. “Once the patches come off, I powder my face, apply a fresh coat of mascara, and voilà! I look refreshed and ready to take on the world.”

The formula scored highest for increasing skin moisture in Lab Corneometer measures, by 41% over six hours, and boosted firmness by 29% over four weeks of use in Cutometer calculations. Testers rated it the best texture and it earned a perfect score for not irritating eyes, though it didn't soak into skin quickly.

Several users said they could see a noticeable difference: "My bags are almost gone," one said. "The creamy-yet-lightweight formula seemed to disappear into my undereye skin, leaving it smooth and younger-looking from the very first use," another marveled.

A great drugstore buy packed with plant extracts, this Burt’s Bees formula is luxe-feeling and rich. GH Beauty Lab evaluations showed it improved skin’s moisturization by 21% and increased firmness by 18% . Brighten up and deflate bags with this GH Seal star Mary Kay cream containing skin tone-evening niacinamide and resveratrol , also a winner of the GH Beauty Lab’s eye cream test. It received the highest marks in Lab digital imaging analysis for improving the look of dark circles , plus raised skin hydration levels by 24% and firmness by 20% (though not as much as other formulas).

The treatment also earned high marks among testers for decreasing puffiness and undereye bags. “No more morning puffiness,” a tester revealed. “A magical product!” Another reported: "I do feel like my undereyes look smoother and less dark."

Chanel Le Lift Crème Yeux

With this rich, luxurious Chanel eye treatment, you get what you pay for: A GH Beauty Lab test winner, the gentle formula with hyaluronic acid and peptides was one of the most hydrating of all eye creams evaluated. It increased eye-area skin moisturization by an impressive 34% over six hours and earned near-perfect scores for its "smooth" texture and "light" scent.

"This is flat out amazing," a tester raved. "I love the way it made the lines and wrinkles soften from around my eyes — my skin there feels baby smooth." Another commented: "My eyes did appear brighter and younger." This product is pricier than many other options, however, and note that some testers experienced a slight tingle upon application.

Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum

Infused with collagen-stimulating retinol, Murad’s serum was the strongest in GH Beauty Lab testing at tightening slack skin around the eyes. It raised skin’s firmness by 33%, more than all other products in the Lab's test, and was the only product to show visual improvement in undereye bags . It also reduced wrinkles by 7% and improved moisture levels by 18%, although it didn't have as strong brightening effects.

Users rated the formula best for its lightweight texture and nearly perfect for lack of irritation. “The best eye treatment I’ve ever used and really delivered dramatic and noticeable results," a tester marveled. A second said: "It helped the bags under my eyes."

La Roche-Posay Redermic R Eyes Retinol Eye Cream

In GH Beauty Lab testing, this eye cream from La Roche-Posay absorbed quickly and reduced the appearance of wrinkles by 5% with powerhouse anti-aging ingredient retinol . It didn't perform as well at moisturizing and firming skin, though. While the active can sometimes cause redness or irritation, Lab testers didn’t report any issues.

“I didn't really have much faith in eye creams until trying this one — very impressive,” and "this cream made my eyes appear well-rested and younger-looking," two commented. Be sure to only use this cream at night , then apply face sunscreen every morning, since retinol can increase sun sensitivity.

Mary Kay TimeWise Repair Volu-Firm Eye Renewal Cream

A GH Seal star, Mary Kay's eye cream r educes the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and moisturizes dry, crepey mature skin for up to 12 hours. The tube also has a smart design; squeeze out the product and gently use its metal applicator tip to smooth the cream onto skin. The immediate cooling sensation helps depuff eyes. However, some users said they thought the texture was a bit too thick.

BL+ Eye Serum

A GH Sustainable Innovation Award winner, this splurge BL+ serum formula helps minimize eye area puffiness, thanks to ingredients like caffeine, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, plus a built-in rollerball dispenser. “So light and hydrating, it keeps my skin plump and tight during the day," GH Beauty Lab Senior Chemist Sabina Wizemann reports. "I also like the roller applicator as it cools the undereye and helps depuff ."

Isdin K-Ox Eyes Cream

Thanks to a potent combination of ingredients , this Isdin formula is a favorite of Deanne Mraz Robinson, M.D. , a dermatologist in Westport, Connecticut and assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Yale School of Medicine . Despite its higher price, "I suggest this for my patients concerned with undereye circles, as it contains peptides to help build collagen, vitamin K to help with darkness and visible blood vessels, and antioxidants to help protect the delicate eye skin in a hydrating hyaluronic acid base," she says.

How we test the best eye creams

When testing eye creams and treatments, GH Beauty Lab scientists recruit consumer testers across the country to help evaluate formulas across price points, from drugstore to luxury brands . Each tester tries a label-masked product as part of their daily skincare routine for four weeks, then provides feedback on ease of use, performance and overall satisfaction.

In the Lab, experts track changes in skin attributes like lines and wrinkles using the Visia Complexion Analyzer after four weeks of eye cream use. Skin firmness is assessed using the Cutometer, a device that measures skin's elasticity. Hydration effects are also measured over six hours using a Corneometer machine, which gauges skin's moisture content.

What to look for when shopping for the best eye cream

It depends on the eye area issue you are aiming to address. To treat multiple eye area issues, look for a combination of ingredients targeted to your needs.

✔️ For wrinkles and sagging, look for formulas that include peptides and retinol.

✔️ For puffiness, look for caffeine, advises Marnie Nussbaum, M.D. , a dermatologist in New York City and clinical instructor of dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College .

✔️ For dark circles, "vitamin K can help," says Dr. Robinson. You can also seek out niacinamide or vitamin C , which "help brighten dark pigmentation," Wizemann adds.

Here's the deal: "Eyelid skin is thinner than the surrounding facial skin so it can be more prone to sensitivity and irritation," Tiffany Jow Libby , MD, a Rhode Island-based, board-certified dermatologist at Brown Dermatology, previously explained . It makes sense that you'd want a concentrated cream to address this delicate area that's susceptible to the formation of fine lines and crow's feet.

What's more: "As we hit our 30s, hyaluronic acid , our skin's natural water absorber and plumper, begins to decline," Mona Gohara , MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Connecticut, explains—which is why applying the ingredient topically and making up for lost hydration is of the essence. In fact, many of the best eye creams for wrinkles are packed with HA and other powerful ingredients like blood vessel-constricting caffeine and collagen-boosting peptides to help fake a full night's rest.

A common rule of thumb is using your ring fingers to gently tap the eye cream into your skin, since you're dealing with the thinnest area on your face. Dr. Kim has a process that may reduce puffiness, or at the very least, feel calming. "I dot [eye cream] around the eyes, place my index finger on the upper eyelid area and third finger on the lower eyelid area, and rub it in as I'm doing a lymphatic massage," he says.

Ultimately, it comes down to the level of prevention you desire. "Because they are landing on thinner skin, eye creams tend to be thicker — a higher amount of oil , less water — than facial moisturizers ," Dr. Gohara explains, comparing the use of an eye cream to "putting extra padding on a spin bike." And that extra cushioning just might pay off, since it's also known that the eye area is one of the first to show signs of aging such as sagging skin, fine lines, and crow's feet.

However, finding the right eye cream is another ordeal, as David Kim , MD, a board-certified dermatologist at Idriss Dermatology in New York City, points out. "I see a lot of patients with milia around the eyes from using Vaseline or eye creams that are too heavy," he says.

Dr. Kim recommends incorporating eye cream starting in your mid-20s, which is "slightly before we start to lose noticeable amounts of collagen and our skin starts to lose firmness and the ability to hold on to moisture," he explains. Whereas younger people might fare better with light, gel-like textures, he recommends people in their 30s reach for slightly richer, lotion-like eye creams with retinol, peptides, and vitamin C. If you struggle with dark circles, brightening ingredients such as vitamin C, kojic acid , tranexamic acid , arbutin, and licorice root "help decrease skin pigmentation over time, ultimately resulting in the lightening of the dark circles," Rachel Nazarian , MD, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City, previously said .

Once you hit your 40s, seek out creamy, rich eye creams infused with retinol, peptides in higher percentages, and antioxidants to get the maximum line-smoothing and plumping benefits. "With repeated use, retinol can stimulate the production of collagen, making the skin less thin," Dr. Nazarian explained. I’ve said this before: I’m no eye-cream evangelist. I’m a firm believer that your regular moisturizer should work just fine for the skin under your eyes as long as it isn’t too heavy and that eye cream is for people with specific concerns to address. Beyond that, eye creams are expensive. These highly concentrated moisturizers will run you upward of 50 bucks, which is a lot of money for an ounce of product that can only be applied on one area of your skin. I’m less critical of drugstore eye creams for this reason. Drugstore beauty products tend to be affordable (no more than $30 in most cases), making that class of eye creams a cost-effective way to address the issues that plague the under eye like bags, puffiness, and dark circles.

To figure out the best of the bunch, I tapped lots of creams into my under eye and talked to aestheticians and dermatologists about what’s working for them and their patients. Every eye cream on this list is under $30 and is widely available at your local drugstore.

What we’re looking for

Active ingredients.

Eye creams tend to target different concerns, so the ingredients are tailored to fit. Eye creams for brightening and smoothing might contain ingredients like vitamin C and retinol, while an eye cream to de-puff tends to include caffeine (it constricts the blood vessels and tightens the skin). Some eye creams (like our top pick) help with everything from dark circles to wrinkles to hydration.

Consistency

While all of these picks are technically “creams,” not all of them have the same weight or feel. Some have a lightweight thin texture while others are heavy, like a night cream. This can be a deciding factor if you have an oily or dry skin type, where you might be looking for something that won’t feel heavy on the skin or want an extra dose of moisture.

Best overall drugstore eye cream

Active ingredients: Retinol, hyaluronic acid | Consistency: Lightweight cream

The top choice in this category is RoC Retinol Correxion eye cream, which ticks all of the eye cream boxes: active ingredients that address a host of concerns (retinol), moisturizing ingredients to hydrate the area (hyaluronic acid), and a thick but not greasy feel. I applied this atop my moisturizer and noticed that just a dot went a long way. It spreads nicely across the skin and creates a thin film of moisture. Unlike other options I’ve tried (including my favorite pricey pick) it’s not at all sting-y and feels like a regular moisturizer. This will work best for someone who’s looking to brighten and target wrinkles and fine lines. Retinol increases cell turnover and collagen production while the hyaluronic acid hydrates and plumps up skin, giving the under eye the appearance of being smoother than it is. I like that this works two-fold and the presence of HA means it’ll offset some of the retinol’s drying effects. If you do decide to use this, it’s imperative that you also use a sunscreen (daily, consistently) because retinol weakens the skin’s natural SPF functions. It’s also a favorite of dermatologists and aestheticians. Six I spoke to name-checked it, noting the efficacy, ingredients list, and price. As for application (because retinol is an active), aesthetician and beauty writer Simedar Jackson recommends starting out by using it once a week to get your skin accustomed to it and then increasing frequency. For sensitive-skin types, she recommends using a dab of moisturizer in the area first so the active ingredients sink in a little slower.

Best eye cream for dark circles

Active ingredients: Pro-xylane, Linactyl, caffeine | Consistency: Lightweight cream

If you’re dealing with raccoon eyes, La Roche-Posay’s caffeine-packed eye cream is a good option. Caffeine is a great ingredient for anyone who has darker or puffy under eyes, the caveat being that if this is due to genetics or fat pads, no eye cream will do much of anything. But if your situation is mild or occasional, this will definitely help. As Dr. Noelani Gonzalez , a dermatology specialist at Mount Sinai Health System, explained to me, caffeine works by constricting blood vessels, which minimizes the look of dark under eyes. This will make that area look lighter for the day and works near-instantly. This is the most expensive cream on our list that’s worth it for the high-quality ingredients and the fact that La Roche-Posay is known for its elegant formulations that work nicely for sensitive skin. This reminds me a bit of my go-to Effaclar Moisturizer, which has seen me through breakouts and winter days while still being hydrating. Celebrity aesthetician Jordan Mattioli is also a fan and recommends dabbing a few dots of cream under the eye and tapping it in gently to avoid pulling or tugging on the skin. “Apply to the area under the eye and the sides of the eye but avoid your upper eyelid,” she says.

Best drugstore eye cream for sensitive skin

Active ingredients: Hyaluronic acid, ceramides, niacinamide | Consistency: Lightweight cream

If you classify yourself as sensitive but still want a bit of added moisture, I’d recommend CeraVe’s Eye Repair Cream, which contains hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides along with niacinamide, which is generally well-tolerated while also brightening the skin. Dermatologist Dr. Karen Hammerman  of Schweiger Dermatology Group agrees and adds that not only are those ingredients extremely gentle for people with sensitive skin but they also “restore and maintain the skin’s natural protective barrier and help to keep the eye area hydrated and smooth.” Plus the formula is nongreasy and noncomedogenic — meaning it won’t clog your pores — making it a good bet for those with oily or acne-prone skin.

Best drugstore eye cream for mature skin

Active ingredients: Retinol, vitamin B3 | Consistency: Rich cream

As you age skin becomes more lax, so you might notice new lines or sagging skin. This pick from Olay is designed specifically to address this and uses a mix of vitamin B3 and retinol, which helps to prevent water loss and fortify the skin’s barrier while also encouraging collagen production. The formula also feels luxe on the skin despite the $27 price point. It holds its own next to nicer formulas double the price and is beloved by dermatologists, including founder of Tone Dermatology Caroline Robinson, M.D., who says it’s good at addressing fine lines and dryness simultaneously. If you’re sensitive to retinols, Dr. Robinson recommends trying Olay Eyes Ultimate Eye Cream instead, which has a similar formula but uses amino peptides in place of the retinol.

Best illuminating drugstore eye cream

Active ingredients: Vitamin B3, vitamin E, vitamin C | Consistency: Rich cream

What sets this eye cream apart is its peachy tint, which helps to color correct and brighten dark circles, both neutralizing the shadows and providing an illuminating effect. It might be a bit bright for those with deep skin tones, who would benefit from something with a bit more of an orangey hue. It also acts as a good base for your usual concealer . Medical aesthetician Sofie Pavitt , who counts our columnist Rio Viera-Newton as one of her clients, loves it, too, noting the texture and ingredients like vitamins E and C, which brighten and moisturize the under eye.

Best moisturizing drugstore eye cream

Active ingredients: Hyaluronic acid | Consistency: Gel cream

For those who have extremely dry under-eye skin, I suggest the eye cream version of the very popular Hyrdoboost gel cream. It’s a hair thicker than its moisturizer counterpart and consists mostly of hyaluronic acid, which is great if you’re really just looking for some more hydration. Think of it like a serum but in a convenient-to-squeeze tube. Jackson says this formula is particularly good for first-timers “looking to boost hydration levels around the eyes and consequently treat very fine lines.”

Best drugstore eye cream for under-eye bags

Active ingredients: Caffeine, super hyaluronic acid | Consistency: Lightweight cream

You know them when you see them: Those folds of puffy skin met by shadowy discoloration that we call “bags.” Generally, under-eye bags are caused by fluid retention, as well as the skin sagging and losing its natural elasticity over time. For some, they may appear after a late night, while others are born with them. In either case, Hada Labo Tokyo Age Correcting Eye Cream is full of caffeine to help tighten them up. Hada Labo is unique for its use of super-hyaluronic acid, which, according to Song, contains twice the moisture-retention capacity of regular hyaluronic acid. Those ingredients combined help to hydrate, restrict blood vessels, retain moisture, restore radiance , and lessen dark circles, she says, which in turn will help reduce the appearance of “bags.” The texture is also superlight, so you can reapply throughout the day without having to worry about ruining your makeup , she says. However, if your eye bags are pretty much constant — which can happen as you age — they are likely the result of a drooping fat pad under the eye. If this is the case, an in-office procedure is your best bet to fixing them permanently.

Best drugstore eye cream for puffiness

Active ingredients: Caffeine, peptides | Consistency: Cream

While this eye cream from the Inkey List isn’t technically a drugstore eye cream, it’s well within the drugstore price point at $11 and is available at Sephora, which is fairly ubiquitous. It also has two main ingredients: caffeine and peptides, which work together to increase collagen production and also de-puff skin. Viera-Newton told me about this eye cream a few years ago, noting that it didn’t bother her “ultrasensitive” under eyes and “did a wonderful job at taking some of that darkness away.”

Best drugstore eye cream to wear under makeup

Active ingredients: Peptides, hyaluronic acid, cucumber, shea butter, green tea | Consistency: Rich cream

E.l.f. is first and foremost a makeup brand, so it’s no surprise its skin care works beautifully under face products. That includes its eye cream, which contains a blend of peptides and hyaluronic acid. Together, they plump and hydrate the under-eye area to ensure makeup doesn’t sink into any wrinkles or fine lines. Peptides are also helpful for dark circles, particularly if they occurred as a result of a lack of collagen. The amino acid stimulates collagen production, which in turn helps to bring some of that volume back to the area. As mentioned before, if it’s the result of a drooping fat pad, an in-office treatment will likely work best.

Auto-Delivery Program

• Participation will continue until canceled. You may cancel your participation in the program from within your Tatcha account up to 24 hours before the upcoming order date from your Tatcha account. We may, in our sole discretion, terminate your participation in the program at any time without notice to you.
• You can cancel an upcoming order up to 24 hours before the upcoming order date from your Tatcha account.
• A recurring charge will be automatically charged to your credit card at the time of each successive shipment. Product selection and the shipment frequency will be in accordance with your preferences elected at the time of program registration or as modified by you from time to time in your account.
• You are obligated to provide current, complete, and accurate information for your billing account. You are responsible for promptly updating all information to keep your billing account current, complete, and accurate (e.g., change in billing address, credit card number, or credit card expiration date). You must promptly notify us if your credit card information is canceled or is no longer valid (e.g., loss or theft of your credit card).

Changes to such information can be made from your Tatcha account. Add the new card and select it as the default credit card.

Having a dedicated eye product is very important for people especially after the age of 25,” says Dr. Engelmen.

What are the best ingredients to look for in an eye cream?

The most common complaints people have about their eye area include fine lines, dark circles, and puffiness. Depending on what you’re looking to treat, you should try to find products with different ingredients. “You want to look for peptides, retinol, and hyaluronic acid when looking at ingredients in an eye cream,” says Dr. Lal.

These are ingredients that Dr. Engelmen also loves. “I look to skin care formulas that are science-based and harness effective and powerful ingredients. Some of the best ingredients for your under eye and lids include peptides, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid . Peptides smooth fine lines and wrinkles, ceramides fortify the skin barrier, and hyaluronic acid adds moisture and an instant plumping effect,” she says.

Are drugstore eye creams as effective as luxury ones?

Good news–you don’t have to break the bank to get great results from your eye cream. “It’s very possible to find great, evidence-based products at all price points–over the counter and at mass,” says Dr. Engelmen. For Dr. Lal, measuring effectiveness less about price point and more about ingredients and how the product is used. He adds, “Skin topical therapies can do wonders for the eyes. It does take time, however, so give them at least three months to see a difference. Drug store creams are just as effective as luxury brands–it’s about consistency!”

The brand Vacation calls this body SPF a “dessert for your skin,” and as someone who has been proudly wearing it since 2022, I can absolutely attest to that. If the mere thought of applying sunscreen doesn't spark joy for you, then it's time to trade in your ordinary squeeze bottle of traditional lotion for this dreamy version that dispenses the product like a whipped cream bottle. As someone who wears makeup on most days, it can be hard to reapply sunscreen once you’ve already concealed, contoured, and powdered. Most formulas are only intended to be applied under your makeup and protect you for just a few hours, so I keep this convenient sunscreen spray on me at all times to refresh my SPF coverage throughout the day (you can spray it over your makeup without disturbing your glam). Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50

When considering which sunscreen is best for you, it’s important to evaluate when and where you are planning to use it. While some of my go-to SPF products are better suited for everyday protection, if I am preparing for an extended day outdoors or engaging in physical activities, I consistently apply Blue Lizard's fragrance-free sunscreen. This particular sunscreen is both sweat- and water-resistant, making it the perfect choice for active days. While it does give a slight white cast (nothing too stark), I don’t mind it because I know how much protection its mineral SPF 50 formula is giving me. 

Tower 28 SunnyDays SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen

While I have a plethora of sunscreens in my lineup, when it comes to travel, I love streamlining my products as much as I can. The space in my toiletry bag is disappointingly finite, so that’s why I absolutely love this tinted SPF that acts as a sunscreen and glowy foundation. It actually works so well as a foundation that I’ve routinely worn it on nights out and have been delightfully pleased with its long-lasting, flashback-free formula. Protecting your lips from the sun is just as important as protecting the rest of your skin. I’ve tried plenty of SPF lip products over the years, but few have compared to this newly released lip tint from Tatcha. With SPF 25 coverage, a luxurious-feeling formula, and a subtle tint of color, this product not only keeps my lips safe but also leaves them looking fabulous. I love that it gives me peace of mind that my pout is protected, hydrated, and dolled up. 

Tatcha The Silk Sunscreen SPF 50

In my experience, few mineral sunscreens that claim to feel weightless deliver, but this lightweight formula actually feels like a veil of silk on my skin. We all know how damaging and drying the sun can be for our skin, but fortunately, in addition to its SPF 50 protection, this product is filled with good-for-you ingredients like hyaluronic acid and niacinamide for extra hydration. It’s consistently sold out — which speaks to its effectiveness — but I found a bunch of them in stock at Sephora. Whether you wear it alone for a radiant, makeup-free look or as a base under makeup for all-day protection, this product is a game-changer.

Coola Scalp & Hair Sunscreen SPF 30

Many people tend to overlook the importance of protecting their scalp, but being as it's one of the first places that the sun touches, it should be a crucial part of your overall protection routine. In an effort to be more diligent about my scalp SPF coverage, I started using this product last summer, and I’m amazed by how much more hydrated my hair feels by not being dehydrated and burned from the sun. This spray blends in incredibly seamlessly, providing protection within moments and, even better, without making your hair feel greasy or weighed down.

Sun Bum Original Sunscreen Spray SPF 70

Made without harmful chemicals like oxybenzone or octinoxate that harm our reefs, this is one of my go-to spray-on sunscreen products for beach days. It goes on easily, smells nice, and is affordable enough that I feel comfortable sharing it with large groups of people during a day out in the sun. With a powerful SPF 30 and sun damage-reversing antioxidants that combat dark circles and wrinkles, this compact under-eye product is an essential addition to my travel toiletry bag. In fact, I use it in lieu of concealer on busy travel days thanks to its subtle coverage and skin-brightening ingredients. Although it may be a bit more expensive than your drugstore coverup, it's an invaluable product that goes a long way, and I firmly believe that it has had the most significant impact in terms of safeguarding my under-eyes from the sun and brightening them over time.
