We recently did a tour of Blenheim Palace/Thriplow daffodil festival. It was a great first experience . Everyday very organised, hotel and food great. Great company and lovely driver

Just been to London to see Abba Voyage ! Ethan was our driver and he was polite courteous and so helpful ,a real asset ro any company .Loved the Abba show and Covent Garden the only thing j would say is I would have liked to have known we wouldn't be able to freshen up and change our clothes before the show and the 4 hour stay in Southwark to see the food market was way too long but otherwise fantastic trip and amazing driver thank you

A thoroughly enjoyable holiday with a great group of people. Hotel was fine, with good food and excellent service. Driver, Malcolm, was pleasant and polite at all times; he went over and above with those passengers with additional needs. Everything went to plan. Shall book again soon. Well done GB!!

We found GB Tours a very positive…

We found GB Tours a very positive experience, Our driver was Gordon he drove us to our destination (4 days in total) and he was our driver throughout our holiday, also driving us to Sidmouth, Dawlish, Dartmouth and Torquay. He was very friendly and professional at the same time. Coming home he was spot on with the times for each drop off. I hope he is our driver on the next trip away.

ABBA Voyage.

I have just returned from a lovely trip to London to see this spectacular show. This trip was booked well in advance for my birthday treat, courtesy of my husband and daughter, who contacted GB to confirm the itinerary. We had the excellent driver Will and a surprise! Marg a courier joined us, she was very helpful. However, as much as we eventually enjoyed it, have to say it was marred somewhat by the fact GB had given two different itineraries to passengers, ours! said, taken straight to ABBA Arena for 5 p.m, then after show pick up and checked in to our Argyle Hotel ! So obviously no chance to change or freshen up ! and next day free to do what we choose until coach pick up mid afternoon. In fact, we had time in London, then hotel check in so could have changed ! then picked up at 5.30 then returned to hotel after. The next day Covent Garden all very nice but did cause lots of confusion, felt very sorry for Will and Marg !!

Excellent holiday…

My husband and I have just come back from a 5 day trip to Scarborough. We stayed at the Boston Hotel. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The homemade food was excellent with a very good choice. We would certainly go back to this hotel again. There was brilliant entertainment in the evenings. Our driver Tony was excellent. Very helpful, polite and friendly and could not do enough for you and made our trips out very enjoyable. Thank you GB Tours

Warners corton

Went to a warners adult only corton Suffolk Pick up on time Steve our driver was very good we had a new coach very comfy.trips out in my opinion we spot on .we have done quite a few tours with gb and never been disappointed

Not one of the best trips we have been…

Not one of the best trips we have been on with GB Tours Firstly we were dropped off at The Piece Hall in Halifax to be picked up 41/2 hours later. Not the best experience all afternoon on a Tuesday in Halifax !!! Piece Hall was a beautiful building but thats about all. Only few shops open for Christmas shopping nothing else to do but try and kill time. I got the impression that a lot of the other travellers also felt the same. Basically waste of a long day. On to Bradford to spend the night at the Leonardo Hotel. This was lovely food and service was great. Just 1 issues on this really, I travel with my mum who is in her 90th year. We always request lower floor room as she is claustrophobic and wont go in the lift, they put us on the 4th floor which ment she had to walk up the stairs..Good job she is quite mobile and can manage the stairs but was exhausted. Other travellers also had the same problem and could not use the lift because of the same problem. They did offer to move us to 1st floor but later on in the evening. Too late. On to York Christmas Market the next day. Lovely day here. Malcolm our driver was brilliant throughout horrendous traffic on the way home. GB Tours i would recommend you drop the Halifax part of the trip and just do day trip to York.. Hotel and York excellent value for money.

Booking & reservations procedures:.

Great Britain & Ireland Travel requires a credit card number or personal check and billing address to request a reservation. Once a reservation has been made, the credit card will be charged a NON REFUNDABLE deposit of 30% of the total package price + applicable credit card processing fee. If booking is made less than 40 days prior to departure – payment is due in full. See cancellation and penalty fee policy below. Final payment by signed “GB&I TRAVEL credit card form, personal check or bank check is due 45 days prior to departure. THEATRE TICKETS, GOLF TEE TIMES AND PREBOOKED ENTRANCE FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AFTER CONFIRMATION

Bookings made, or payments received 21 days or less prior to departure from the U.S., will be assessed an additional $20 fee before documents will be issued. These fees are non-refundable.

Change Fees:

Before Final Documentation: $35 per person (After agreed proposal price is deposited on) After Final Documentation: $50 per booking + supplier fees

Cancellation Fees:

Deposit amount is non-refundable 50% of tour cost between 60-90 days prior to travel 75% of tour cost between 30-60 prior to travel 100% of tour cost within 30 days prior to travel date

Cancellations must be received in writing, mail, fax or email.

Cancellations for all services must be done through Great Britain & Ireland Travel. Reservations cancelled directly with a hotel or another supplier do not qualify for a refund. Please note that there are no refunds for packages designated as non-refundable.

Not Included: Any items of a personal nature including but not limited to: phone calls, gratuities, laundry, beverages, meals not stated, taxi and bus fares, passport and visa fees.

Great Britain & Ireland Travel reserves the right to adjust prices according to exchange rate fluctuations or any increase in vendor rates. Once deposit is received, Great Britain and Ireland Travel (GB&I) will only pass on increases in government taxes.

Passports/Visas:

It is the sole responsibility of each passenger to obtain the necessary documents, such as passports and visas, for travel. Visa requirements do change without notice and vary by nationality. Please check with the consulate office of the destination country as to visa requirements.

Responsibility:

GB&I TRAVEL and/or its agents act only as booking agents for railways, tourist boards, hotels, sightseeing vendors, car rentals and/or any other service in connection with the itineraries of individual or group travelers. Every reservation is accepted subject to the terms and conditions of the suppliers. GB&I TRAVEL shall not be liable for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, irregularity, liability or expense to person or property due to an act or default by any company or person providing or rendering services included in the tour. Travel restrictions, border closures, flight delays, weather changes, and personal conditions may cause cancellation requests.

When a tour is canceled, it's helpful to have a timeframe that gives you enough time to secure a new booking. You, tour operators, could provide free cancellations up to 24 hours, 48 hours, or 72 hours after the departure date.

Alternatively, you can offer free cancellation up to 24 hours after the booking, or up to 7 days before departure time.

Whichever option you choose, make sure you give yourself enough time to find a new booking. Otherwise, you may end up losing money if you have to cancel last minute.

What should be included?

  • How long should customers be allowed to cancel? Should you charge a cancellation fee or not?
  • How do you handle customer cancellations? In what ways can they communicate with you? Should you deal with it with manual phone calls and e-mail or can you use automation tools and services, instead?
  • What happens when customers cancel their reservations? How will you respond? Can you create a marketing strategy to fill in the empty dates?
  • Or what if, you should be the one who should cancel? How can you give a notice?

Besides, having a simple, clear, and consistent policy protects you from any liability and saves you time and resources in trying circumstances.

During the making of a reservation, customers must agree to the policy to move forward. If someone has to modify or reverse a booked trip, this will help you cover your fees for no-shows (or you have to).

Here's an example of a clear reversal and refund policy for tour operators: Please Note: You have 7 days to cancel your reservation and get a full amount refund of monies paid. If you cancel within a week and up to 24 hours before the departure date, you will be charged the deposit. If you cancel within 24 hours or no show, you will be charged 100% of the price. If the trip is canceled because of bad weather or a breakdown, we will refund your booking.

Ensure to inform customers of the steps they should take to cancel a booking. Including their contact details, like phone numbers and e-mail addresses.

2. Cancellation Fee Management

Higher price = more flexibility.

Operators in the tour and activity industry, like in the hotel industry, set a non-refundable fee for small group tours and cheaper bookings while allowing full refunds on more expensive trips. For instance, trips with travel insurance.

The higher the price, the more flexibility they offer.

Offer Alternatives for Full Refund

Instead of allowing canceled bookings, why not offer to reschedule or rebook ? This way, you can ensure not to fail revenue and customers.

On the other hand, some activity providers also charge a fair fee for canceling a booked tour instead of issuing a full refund. Choosing this method helps you recover and protect the costs of the time and resources spent on the booking process.

Book Now, Pay Later

In case you offer a 'book now, pay later, and have a non-refundable deposit for the tour. This should be enough to cover the cost of your time and effort.

3. Review Cancellation Policies with 3rd Parties

Most tour companies work closely with third-party vendors and with local businesses for their tour experience services. If you do, make sure to connect well with them to determine solutions that should work for both parties.

Working with OTAs

Most OTAs offer a full refund for cancellations made 24 hours before the tour. Make sure this aligns with your company's cancellation policies, as shown on your website. So you can maintain consistency across all of your sales channels.

Working With Suppliers

Review the policy for refunds and cancellations you have with 3rd party suppliers.

For instance, working with Stripe as a payment gateway, Stripe charges cancellation fees but it largely depends on your contract with them.

Your entire booking including cruise fare, air add-ons, ground transfers, pre-cruise and post-cruise hotel and tour packages, excluding Taxes, Fees and Port Expenses, is subject to the same cancellation policy. Name changes require prior approval and may not always be possible. Name changes and departure date changes are considered reservation cancellations and are subject to cancellation fees.

Travel Insurance/Protection :  We strongly recommend that you obtain travel protection for unforeseen events such as trip cancellation, loss or damage to baggage and personal effects, illness, medical expenses, accidental injury or death, or emergency evacuation. Holland America Line offers  Cancellation Protection Plan options , starting at just $79 per person, which include cancel for any reason and contain no exclusions for pre-existing conditions or age. You may cancel your vacation plans for any reason and receive a money back refund with a  Holland America Line Cancellation Protection Plan .

Our Standard Plan will allow you, for any reason, to provide written cancellation up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air) arrangements made by Holland America Line and receive a refund equal to 80% of the eligible amounts paid to Holland America Line. CPP Standard is available to all guests, regardless of residency (excluding permanent residents of the United Kingdom).

Our Platinum Plan offers a 90% reimbursement if you need to cancel at any time up until the start of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air) arrangements made by Holland America Line. The Platinum Plan also provides insurance coverage for trip delays and interruptions, medical expenses and worldwide emergency assistance. Note that the Platinum Plan is not available to residents of New York State, Quebec, British Columbia, Puerto Rico or the United Kingdom.

Aerosmith Announce 2024 Farewell Tour Return Following Concert Cancellations

Aerosmith will resume their farewell concert tour later this year.

Legendary rock band Aerosmith has announced they are hitting the road later this year to resume their epic farewell tour . In 2023, the band was forced to cancel their final shows due to frontman Steven Tyler suffering a fractured larynx .

"Today, four-time Grammy award-winning and diamond-certified rock legends Aerosmith announce their return to the road with 'Peace Out' featuring special guests The Black Crowes, who are fresh off their first release in nearly 15 years, Happiness Bastards ," read a press release. "Additionally, a very special one-night-only performance from Teddy Swims is set at the tour kickoff in Pittsburgh, PA. Fans first heard that one of the most significant American rock bands in history were embarking on their final tour with a special announcement video celebrating this not-to-be-missed final tour."

"Every night will pay homage to the five decades of Aerosmith's groundbreaking hits as they celebrate over 50 years as America's greatest rock band," the press release adds. "In addition, THX will bring their THX Certified Live! high-fidelity experience on the road, calibrating each arena with leading-edge technology so fans don't miss a beat of Aerosmith's classic rock tunes in quality audio." In September 2023, Aerosmith canceled all of their tour dates due to Tyler's medical condition. The iconic rock band shared the news on Instagram, writing, "To our fans: Unfortunately, Steven's vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care."

"He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential," the statement continued. "As a result, all the currently scheduled 'Peace Out' shows must be postponed to sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more." 

In his own statement, Tyler added, " I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!"

The band went on to note that "all previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates." They also explained that "refunds will be available for those unable to attend once those dates are announced. Fans with questions regarding refunds should reach out to their point of purchase."
