Mastodon and Gojira Announce ‘The Mega-Monsters’ Co-Headlining Tour

Gojira and Mastodon — the band, not the Twitter replacement website — are teaming up for an upcoming co-headlining “Mega-Monsters” tour . Lorna Shore will join for all dates of the two-leg trek scheduled to begin in April.

The heavy-metal-meets-heavy-rock tour will span 35 dates beginning with a show at Portland’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum on April 18. Mastodon and Gojira will make stops in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Richmond, New York, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Denver, and more cities.

General sale for the Mega-Monsters tour begins on Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. local time via both Gorija and Mastodon ‘s websites.

MASTODON And GOJIRA Announce 'The Mega-Monsters Tour' With LORNA SHORE; BLABBERMOUTH.NET Presale

Teaming up for what promises to be an unforgettable jaunt of epic proportions, iconic Grammy Award -winning heavy rock band MASTODON will join forces with Grammy Award -nominated French heavy metal luminaries GOJIRA for "The Mega-Monsters Tour" , a massive co-headline tour across North America in 2023 along with special guests LORNA SHORE on all dates. It finds these two juggernauts taking over arenas and amphitheaters throughout the spring and summer, alternating closing sets each night.

A special BLABBERMOUTH.NET presale will begin on Wednesday, January 18 at 10:00 a.m. EST and end on Thursday, January 19 at 10:00 p.m. local time. When prompted, type in the presale code "HUSHED" to access tickets before the general public. General on-sale will be Friday, January 20 at 10 a.m. local time.

The tour kicks off at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon on April 18, stops at legendary venues such as the Forum in Los Angeles, California on April 21, and steamrolls through MASTODON 's hometown of Atlanta for their biggest Georgia headlining gig to date at the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre. The first leg concludes at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania on May 11. Meanwhile, the tour resumes with a second leg from August 9 through September 2.

MASTODON will hit the road in support of their critically acclaimed ninth studio album, "Hushed And Grim" . Meanwhile, GOJIRA are out supporting their seventh full-length album, "Fortitude" , which garnered a Grammy Award nomination in the category of "Best Metal Performance" for "Amazonia" . These two titans previously canvased North America together in 2014, and this reunion represents yet another major milestone in their respective careers.

Mastodon and Gojira have announce a 2023 co-headlining tour. Dubbed the Mega-Monsters Tour, it will take place this spring and summer across North America. Opening each date will be Lorna Shore. Find the full itinerary for the co-headlining tour below.

The Mega-Monsters Tour will begin on April 18 in Portland, Oregon, before the bands move across most of the West Coast and the South. After a brief break in June and July, Mastodon and Gojira will head back on the road, performing on the East Coast and Midwest before concluding the trek on September 2 in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

Mastodon released their latest and eighth album, Hushed and Grim , back in 2021. Before that, the Atlanta-based sludge metal band also dropped the compilation Medium Rarities . As for Gojira, their newest album also came out in 2021: Fortitude . It was the follow-up to the French avant-metal group’s 2016 full-length, Magma .

Metal bands Mastodon and Gojira are teaming up for a lengthy spring and summer tour

Atlanta metal band Mastodon are joining up with French heavy metal group greats Gojira for a lengthy 2023 North American tour. The trek, called The Mega-Monsters Tour, will feature special guests Lorna Shore on all dates and take the bands through arenas and amphitheaters during the spring and summer months.

Fan ticket pre-sales are available starting Wednesday (Jan. 18) at 10 a.m. local time via Mastodon, Gojira, Blabbermouth.net and Spotify fans first. Then, general on-sale starts Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. local time. For more information, go here .

The tour sets off at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon, on April 18, and the first leg of the trek wraps up at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania, on May 11. Then, the tour resumes with a second leg from Aug. 9 through Sept. 2.

Mastodon are touring in support of their ninth studio album, “Hushed and Grim.” Gojira, on the other hand, are out to tour behind their seventh full-length album, “Fortitude,” which has picked up a Grammy Award nomination in the category of “Best Metal Performance” for “Amazonia.” Mastodon and Gojira toured North America together back in 2014, so this is a reunion of sorts. Mastodon and Gojira have just announced a co-headlining Mega Monsters North American tour with special guest Lorna Shore .

The first leg of the tour will stretch from April 18 through May 11 with the second leg kicking up on Aug. 9 with an end date set for Sept. 2.

Look for tickets to go on sale on Jan. 20 at 10AM local time with a pre-sale beginning on Jan. 18 at 10AM local time. Check the Mastodon website or  Gojira website for VIP packages and further ticketing information.

The tour unites three of the biggest forces in 21st century metal, Mastodon and Gojira being the established veterans while Lorna Shore have asserted themselves as a genuine breakout band in the 2020s with viral success thanks to their revolutionary brand of deathcore.

The co-headliners are each hitting the road in continued support of their 2021 albums —  Hushed & Grim (Mastodon) and  Fortitude (Gojira). Meanwhile, Lorna Shore will be touting last year's  Pain Remains , which Loudwire named the Album of the Year .

Teaming up for what promises to be an unforgettable jaunt of epic proportions, Grammy Award-nominated French heavy metal luminaries, Gojira, will join forces with iconic Grammy Award-winning heavy rock band Mastodon (pictured above) for a massive co-headline tour across North America in 2023. The Mega-Monsters Tour finds these two juggernauts taking over arenas and amphitheaters throughout the spring and summer, alternating closing sets each night.

The tour kicks off at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, OR on April 18 and includes stops at legendary venues such as the Forum in Los Angeles, CA on April 21. The first leg concludes at Santander Arena in Reading, PA on May 11 and resumes with a second leg that runs August 9 through September 2nd. Special guest Lorna Shore serves as direct support on all dates.

Fan pre-sales for tickets begin January 18 at 10 AM, local time and include both Mastodon and Gojira artist pre-sales. General on-sale will launch January 20 at 10 AM, local time with VIP ticket packages available at www.gojira-music.com and www.mastodonrocks.com.

Gojira and Mastodon Stomp Through Milwaukee

One of the longest and heaviest tours of the Summer clears a path through the Midwest, stopping at the BMO Pavilion in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The colossal event features the progressive metal sounds of co-headliners Gojira and Mastodon, with support from Lorna Shore, one of the most popular deathcore bands on the scene today.

It’s an outdoor show, but the 100 degree heat doesn’t stop the crowd from showing up early to catch Lorna Shore start things off (Singer Will Ramos comments after the set that it may very well be the hottest show they've played). The pit is packed, and already moving as they launch into "Sun//Eater" to start the set. After the wild "Cursed to Die" and “Into the Earth,” they go to their final three songs of the set, the "Pain Remains" trilogy of tracks, a 20+ minute episodic of growls and wails. In terms of sheer death metal brutality, Lorna stands out in a lineup like this, and while a lot of the amphitheater watched on, the fans in the front quickly took to the group and kept energy up in the pit.

Gojira hits the stage with the ferocious "Ocean Planet" and turns the heat up even higher as plumes of fire rise up above the group. The grooving has begun, and the pounding verses of "Backbone" send the crowd bouncing and moshing, kept up by both "Stranded" and "Flying Whales." The technical abilities of the members of Gojira are truly of merit, performing their fast-paced and intricate songs even in the most miserable weather. The lengthy and intense "Art of Dying" is a testament to the absolute skill of all of the members, as they put on a flawless performance of the powerhouse track. Perpetually shirtless drummer Mario Duplantier (especially in this heat) is always awe-inspiring with his playing, and sticks around mid-set for a hypnotic drum solo.

The majority of the set focuses on tracks from the latest two releases: “Magma” and “Fortitude,” but thankfully includes some of the heavier essentials from “The Way of All Flesh” and “From Mars to Sirius.” The crowd joins in with the band in singing along to “The Chant,” a calmer moment during the heavy set. As Gojira switches the final song between tour stops, they end the set in Milwaukee with “The Gift of Guilt,” as pyro falls down from the top of the stage.

As the sun fully sets, a light breeze rolls off of Lake Michigan offers a slight reprieve from the heat. Exhausted fans move to the back to get complimentary (thankfully) water and rest after the heavy activity during Gojira. As Mastodon takes the final slot of the night, they go full steam ahead, giving some energy back to the tired crowd with “The Wolf is Loose” and “Crystal Skull.” There’s plenty to pull from, and they go into the archives, with a massive 17 song set. Heading more into a sludgy metal direction over Lorna Shore and Gojira, there isn’t much moshing happening, but the crowd seems to be ready to vibe to the heavy riffs and psychedelic presentation that their stage setup offers. The unique visual aesthetic complements their music perfectly, and makes for a wild visual and auditory experience.

Mastodon and Gojira announce The Mega-Monsters co-headlining US tour

The 35-date Mega-Monsters tour will tour the US from April, with support from Lorna Shore

Perog-metal titans Gojira and Mastodon have announced a co-headlining US tour. The 35-date Mega-Monsters tour is split into two legs, with the first kicking off in Portland, Oregon on April 18 and climaxing in Reading, Pennsylvania, on May 11. 

The tour will pick up again on August 9 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and end on September 2 in Denver, Colorado. Rising deathcore stars Lorna Shore will support at all shows. Full dates below.  

Tickets for the Mega-Monsters tour go on sale on January 20 at 10am local time via both band's websites and via the usual agencies .    

Gojira's upcoming European tour starts in Dublin on February 11. Dates are available on the band's website .  Mastodon and Gojira previously toured together in 2014, with support from Kvelertak.

The metal heavyweights will head out for two legs this spring and summer

Mastodon and Gojira have announced an extensive 2023 North American co-headlining tour with support from Lorna Shore .

The “Mega-Monsters Tour” is broken into two separate spring and summer legs. The spring outing kicks off April 18th in Portland, Oregon, and runs through May 11th in Reading, Pennsylvania. The summer leg begins August 9th in Cincinnati, Ohio, and wraps up September 2nd in Denver, Colorado.

Ticket pre-sales start Wednesday (January 18th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster  using the code SOUND , with a general on-sale launching Friday (January 20th). For sold-out shows, pick up tickets via StubHub .

Mastodon will be out in support of their 2021 effort Hushed and Grim , though new music could be on the way as the band works on new material . Meanwhile, Gojira continue to tour behind their 2021 album Fortitude .

About the event

Teaming up for what promises to be an unforgettable jaunt of epic proportions, GRAMMY® Award-nominated French heavy metal luminaries Gojira will join forces with iconic GRAMMY® Award-winning heavy rock band Mastodon for a massive co-headline tour across North America in 2023. “The Mega-Monsters Tour” finds these two juggernauts taking over arenas and amphitheaters throughout the Spring and Summer including a stop at The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park, MN on Sunday, August 27th . Special guest Lorna Shore serves as direct support on all dates.

Mastodon hit the road in support of their critically acclaimed ninth studio album, HUSHED AND GRIM. Meanwhile, Gojira are out supporting their seventh full-length album, Fortitude, which garnered a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Metal Performance” for “Amazonia.” These two titans previously canvased North America together in 2014, and this reunion represents yet another major milestone in their respective careers.

Mastodon and Gojira have announced an extensive 2023 North American co-headlining tour with support from Lorna Shore .

The “Mega-Monsters Tour” is broken into two separate spring and summer legs. The spring outing kicks off April 18th in Portland, Oregon, and runs through May 11th in Reading, Pennsylvania. The summer leg begins August 9th in Cincinnati, Ohio, and wraps up September 2nd in Denver, Colorado.

Ticket pre-sales start Wednesday (January 18th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster  using the code SOUND , with a general on-sale launching Friday (January 20th). For sold-out shows, pick up tickets via StubHub .

Mastodon will be out in support of their 2021 effort Hushed and Grim , though new music could be on the way as the band works on new material . Meanwhile, Gojira continue to tour behind their 2021 album Fortitude .

Progressive metal favorites Gojira & Mastodon will co-headline ‘ The Mega-Monsters Tour ‘ this coming spring & summer. That North American trek will find rising deathcore stars Lorna Shore in the opening slot.

Fan club, venue, etc. pre-sales will launch tomorrow, January 18th at 10:00am local time. The general onsale will follow this Friday, January 20th at 10:00am local time. That trek will play out across the following two legs:
