Daryl Hall (L) and John Oates are going on separate solo tours in 2023. Here, they're jamming out together onstage.

We’re here to sort of “Make Your Dreams Come True.”

In 2023, Daryl Hall and John Oates are going on tour — just not together.

From May 24 through June 9, Daryl Hall and the Daryl’s House Band are taking off on an eight-concert tour that includes stops in Montclair, NJ on May 24, Port Chester, NY on June 7 and Atlantic City, NJ on June 9.

His bandmate, John Oates will play five spring shows in California, Nashville and Chicago from April 13 through May 25.

At the time of publication, none of Oates’ shows are scheduled to take place in the Northeast.

No word on whether either Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will appear at each other’s shows either.

With that being said, if you want to see half of Hall and Oates — Hall or Oates — here’s everything you need to know.

Daryl Hall 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar including all tour dates and venues for Hall’s eight 2023 concerts can be found below.

John Oates 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar of all John Oates tour dates is listed below.

Daryl Hall new music

Hall went old school in 2022 and dropped the rare double album.

“Before After,” comprised of 30 tracks, features Hall’s signature classic sound — the indefinable center between pop and rock.

If you want to hear the double album in its entirety, you can find “Before After” here .

John Oates new music

Last year, Oates dropped just one song — the sensual single “Pushin’ A Rock” that sounds like it could fit in a playlist next to “She’s Gone,” “Maneater” and “Rich Girl.”

In 2023, Oates went a bit more downtempo. Thus far in this young year, he’s released just one song, the ballad “Disconnected.”

You can hear both songs here .

Daryl Hall & John Oates

Daryl Hall & John Oates

This will be the first Daryl Hall & John Oates headline tour in the UK for five years.

After another incredible touring year, which included such legendary venues as Madison Square Garden and The Forum, Daryl Hall & John Oates will will return to the U.K in April.

Added Daryl: “I’ve been in of the UK for a lot of years and it’s always great to come home.  Can’t wait to play these shows.”

Daryl Hall & John Oates bring their show back to the UK for their first tour since July 2015 and their first European show since their triumphant sell-out headline set at The O2 for Bluesfest in 2017.

From the mid-'70s to the mid-'80s, the Daryl Hall and John Oates scored six #1 singles, including "Rich Girl" (also #1 R&B), "Kiss on My List," "Private Eyes," "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) (also #1 R&B), "Maneater" and "Out of Touch" from their six consecutive multi-platinum albums -- '76's Bigger Than Both of Us, '80's Voices, '81's Private Eyes, '82's H2O, '83's Rock N Soul, Part I and '84's Big Bam Boom. The era would also produce an additional five Top 10 singles, "Sara Smile," "One on One," "You Make My Dreams," "Say It Isn't So" and "Method of Modern Love." In 1987, the RIAA recognized Daryl Hall and John Oates as the top-selling duo in pop music history, a record they still hold today.  In 2018 Daryl and John had a top 10 hit on the AC charts with “Philly Forget Me Not,” featuring Train.

One half of the widely successful folk-rock duo, Hall & Oates, Daryl Hall has forged a successful career in his own right and has recently found huge popularity with his monthly Web Television series, "Live From Daryl's House."

Hall first met Oates whilst studying at Temple University in their native Philadelphia, US. After a brief period of separation, during which Hall played with rock band Gulliver, Oates reunited with Hall in 1972, after which they quickly established themselves in the world of music.Through their manager Tommy Mottola, the pair signed with Atlantic Records to release their first recordings, "Whole Oates" and "War Babies."

It was after moving to New York, US in 1976, changing to RCA Records, that the pair were to create a breakthrough hit, the Top Ten single, "Sara Smile." "Rich Girl" followed, helping to bolster the popularity of their album, "Bigger Than the Both of Us." Streamlining their sound to more straight-up rock, they continued to release quality records into the 80s, finding double-Platinum success with "H2O." The 1984 album, "Big Bam Boom" sold over two million copies and featured four hit singles, proving Hall & Oates had the songwriting credentials for the band's longevity. They became one of the most successful artists of their era, topping the charts more times than the Everly Brothers, yet it was not to last, as the pair disbanded to pursue solo careers.

Hall released a string of albums, "3 Hearts in the Happy Ending Machine" (1986), "Soul Alone" (1993) and "Can't Stop Dreaming" (1999), although they failed to live up to the heights of success that the duo had mustered previously. The pair reunited at periods during the 90s and 2000s, recording a number of albums, with 1997's "Marigold Sky" proving to be their most successful. In 2004, his songwriting process was recognized, after being inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame.

In 2007, Hall began a monthly web show, "Live From Daryl's House," that featured Hall and his band collaborating with a host of eclectic performers, such as Smokey Robinson, Todd Rundgren, Plain White T's and Chromeo. The success of the series reinvigorated Hall, who recorded "Laughing Down Crying," his first solo venture in 14 years, released in 2011. The euphoria of regaining success was short-lived, however, after the death of his longtime producer, T-Bone Wolk, before the album's completion.

Live reviews

With crazily catchy hits like ‘Maneater’, ‘Private Eyes’ and ‘Rich Girl’ all a part of Daryl Hall’s repertoire, it’s kind of a no-brainer that a Hall & Oates concert would be out-of-this world awesome. Despite being in their sixties, the duo absolutely bring it when they perform live. Their energy is infectious and it’s no wonder that every time I’ve seen them perform, I’ve woken up totally exhausted the next day. A Hall & Oates gig is an all-singing, all-dancing affair just as you might expect. It’s amazing how cool Daryl Hall still looks up on stage with his flowing blonde locks and wraparound shades; if I manage even a fraction of his coolness in my sixties I’ll be happy. Standing in the crowd and looking up at Daryl as he opens a gig, you just know that when the lights go down and his band starts to play, that this man is one hundred percent at home up on stage. Whether he’s touring his solo work, or performing his power-pop-rock hits alongside John Oates, you’re guaranteed to have a night you won’t forget. I’m a firm believe that there is a Hall & Oates song appropriate for every life event, and, as cliché as this might be, the song that most accurately reflects how it feels to catch a Daryl Hall concert is obviously ‘You Make My Dreams’. Go see him live. Seriously.

Although Daryl Hall is consistently committed to the duo Hall & Oates, he does occasionally take to the road solo to air some of his own releases as well as covers from his infamous band. Considered to be one of the most gifted songwriters of the 20th century, it seemed pretty natural for Daryl to have a side project throughout the career and he collaborated often with esteemed producer Robert Fripp.

Although Hall & Oates have a larger pull for the fanbase, the venue is still packed out tonight for Daryl's solo headline show and as he steps onto the stage the whole audience cheer largely. He hand selects his own personal favourite work from the discography including the sincere 'Eyes for You (Ain't No Doubt About It)' along with the recognisable Hall & Oates tracks such as 'Private Eyes' and 'Man-eater'. The audience watches on in quiet anticipation as Hall keeps the show pacy before culminating in 'I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)' which has the whole room singing. He has saved two gems for the encore of 'Rich Girl' and 'You Make My Dreams' before he exits to even larger applause than when he appears.

Daryl Hall is what dreams are made of for Music. Whomever he sings with is the icing on the cake. He just makes music better, performers better, musicians better. I followed his career and most concerts where I could attend. My family became instant big fans. Was also there the night of the Grand Opening Of Daryls House in New York with John Oates. Also saw him many times in New York and Pa.

Daryl when you come to Orlando this summer have Rumer and Todd Rundgren with you also. Let me know. and Thank you for the Music and lyrics. Teresa Asaro

Daryl Hall and John Oates pictured in Chicago, Illinois in 1981

John Oates opens up about Daryl Hall amid bitter legal battle: ‘I have moved on’

Duo’s music ‘will always trump almost anything that Daryl does on his own or I do on my own’ says Oates, weeks after Hall filed to stop him selling his share of their rights

John Oates, half of the hugely successful pop rock duo Hall & Oates, has opened up about his partnership with Daryl Hall amid their ongoing and fractious legal battle.

Hall, 77, is suing Oates, 75, in an initially confidential lawsuit that came to light in November when Hall also filed for and received a temporary restraining order against Oates in a Nashville court.

A week later it was revealed that Hall is attempting to block Oates from selling his share of the duo’s Whole Oats Enterprises to music publisher Primary Wave Music, which has acquired numerous song catalogues in recent years by artists including Prince , Bob Marley, Whitney Houston , Stevie Nicks, The Doors, Ray Charles and more.

In a declaration filed in November , Hall called the planned sale a “completely clandestine and bad faith move” in “blatant violation” of longstanding business agreements between the pair. Oates filed a response within hours, describing Hall’s statements as “inflammatory, outlandish, and inaccurate”.

On Wednesday, speaking on the latest episode of David Yontef’s Behind the Velvet Rope podcast, Oates said their music “will stand the test of time, that will hopefully live on forever”.

“You can’t ignore the fact that the Hall & Oates catalogue of hits and the 50-year career will always trump almost anything that Daryl does on his own or I do on my own, which is OK because I’m very proud of that music,” he said. “I’m really proud of what Daryl and I created together.”

But Oates added that “I don’t like to live in the past … I make the analogy of what it’s like when you go to a great museum and you’re really excited to go and see all the beautiful paintings or the exhibits or whatever it might be, and then near the end, when your feet start to hurt, you say, ‘You know what? I can’t wait to get out of here.’ That’s kind of how I feel about it.”

Reflecting on the height of their fame in the 1980s, Oates said: “It was very intense, there was no time for reflection. It was a lot of business demands, a lot of heavy demands … Daryl and I were at the top of the pop world. We had No 1 record after No 1 record. We were traveling around the world constantly. Everyone thinks that that was probably the high point of my life, but to be honest with you, it actually wasn’t my favourite time. I liked the 70s more than the 80s because everything was new.”

Asked by Yontef if there was a song he’d be happy to never play live again, Oates said: “To be honest with you, I am not really touring with Daryl these days. I’m doing solo shows and I’m really glad I can play new music now because it feels like a breath of fresh air for me.”

“I have moved on. It’s just a matter of living in my present,” he added.

Primary Wave bought a “significant” stake in Hall & Oates’s catalogue rights 16 years ago. But in 2021, Hall signalled he regretted doing so, telling Sky News: “Never sell your publishing – maybe if you’re, you know, 80 years old and you decided to retire, then you can sell your publishing but I wouldn’t even suggest it then. I don’t believe in that concept – it’s all you have.”

A judge issued a temporary restraining order against a sale of Whole Oats Enterprises assets to Primary Wave, meaning that the case will have to enter arbitration before any sale can go ahead.

The duo, behind hits including Private Eyes, Rich Girl, Maneater and You Make My Dreams, formed in 1972 and have never officially broken up. But in his declaration in November, Hall said that the pair were already engaged in a less fractious “global divorce” that will bring their creative partnership to a close.

John Oates is speaking out amid his ongoing legal battle with bandmate Daryl Hall , saying he has “moved on” from the experience.

Hall sued Oates last month over Oates’ plan to sell his share of their joint venture Whole Oats Enterprises to Primary Wave Music without the other’s permission. Hall was granted a temporary restraining order against Oates as legal proceedings continue.

He continued, “I don’t like to live in the past. I make the analogy of what it’s like when you go to a great museum and you’re really excited to go and see all the beautiful paintings or the exhibits or whatever it might be, and then near the end, your feet start to hurt and you say, ‘You know what? I can’t wait to get out of here.’ That’s kind of how I feel about it.”

Hall and Oates formed the duo Philadelphia in 1970. During their peak years of 1974-91 as Hall & Oates, the pair reached the U.S. Top 40 with 29 of their 33 singles charting on Billboard’s Hot 100.

“There was no time for reflection. It was a lot of business demands, a lot of heavy demands… Daryl and I were at the top of the pop world. We had number-one record after number-one record. We were traveling around the world constantly. Everyone thinks that that was probably the high point of my life, but to be honest with you, it actually wasn’t my favorite time.”

He added, “I have moved on. It’s just a matter of living in my present.”

Six of the duo’s singles reached No. 1: “Rich Girl” (1977), “Kiss on My List” (1980), the two 1981 releases “Private Eyes” and “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do)”, “Maneater” (1982) and “Out of Touch” (1984). Seven of their albums have been RIAA-certified platinum and six others gold.

Performing with a world-class percussionist, Oates showcases his acoustic guitar skills in an intimate, organic performance that touches on the roots of American pop music from pre-rock and roll to the present, woventogether with fascinating insight and humor. Performing million-seller hits from the past and new songs framed with the back stories of how they were written, Oates takes the audience on an intimate sonic journey described as: “Musically sophisticated, carefully crafted, and thoroughly entertaining.” This is music as it was meant to be enjoyed...authentic, organic, and full of surprises. Come experience it for yourself. John Oates is known as one half of the best-selling duo of all time, Hall & Oates, as well as an accomplished solo artist. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The American Songwriters Hall of Fame, recipient of the prestigious BMI Icon Award as well as numerous American Music, MTV awards, and multiple Grammy nominations.

Since forming his creative partnership with Daryl Hall in the early 1970s, they have gone on to record 21 albums, which have sold over 80 million units, making them the most successful duo in rock history. They have scored 10 number one records, over 20 Top 40 hits, and have toured the world for decades. Inspired by a live series of shows that they created in 2010 at the historic Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, CO.

“OATES SONG FEST 7908” became a free streaming concert with all donations and proceeds going to FEEDINGAMERICA.ORG . The broadcast featured an all-star roster of artists all of whom have volunteered their songs and performances to help families without food across the nation, and as a result, over 450,000 meals were provided for American families.

In 2022, John became he international ambassador for “MOVEMBER” the men’s health initiative and released a new original song called “Pushing A Rock” with a theme of overcoming life’s challenges and struggles. Since embarking on a solo career in 1999, John has recorded seven solo albums: PhunkShui, 100 Miles of Life, Mississippi Mile, The Bluesville Sessions, Good Road To Follow, Arkansas and Live from Nashville with the Good Road Band.
