The staff are what make this experience unforgettable, always smiling, always helping and always providing surprises. The attention to detail in everything that is provided is on another level to what I have previously experienced. The food was impeccable and so much choice. The agenda for when to visit the unbelievable tombs and temples is clearly thought out so that you miss the crowds. Emad, The Egyptologist that accompanied us was extremely knowledgeable and steered us through 2000 years of history at a pace that worked for the group. Typical groups were no more than eight people with ours being six and some even smaller. The cabins were pure luxury and so much more sizeable than we had imagined. I cannot fault any aspect of the 3 night cruise and I would highly recommend it. Read more Written April 15, 2024
  • Seaside50172212586 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Avoid the NS Beau Rivage vessel!! We spent 4 days/nights on this horrid vessel. Best part of each day was leaving the vessel. It was part of a tour package by Luxury Vacations. Unfortunately all of our meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner were on the boat. The food was repetitive and bland. So horrible that it wasn’t even worth getting out of bed for breakfast. But on the bright side it didn’t give us the runs. The ship is in desperate need of a refurbishment, starting with the small green ringed (stained/algae?) pool. The entire ship was treated to a 4am wake up call one night/morning. How incompetent can one be to accomplish that feat? They charge for bottled water (in a country where the water supply is unsafe) and forbid you to bring your own water on board. Ridiculous. There are much better vessels to cruise the Nile. Read more Written April 10, 2024
  • Spoilt129 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles Think carefully before you do it Whist our time on the BR was not private (given is has 70 add cabins don’t really know what private is), however we did go as a group of 12 who then shared the boat with about another 80 people. The rooms are anything but luxury, cleanliness is questionable, our first room came with the noise of the generator and the perfume of diesel, our second room came with the joy of a wall whole to the next cabin so that we could vicariously enjoy their television at 1.30am in the morning. The room did have windows that opened, the water pressure in the (bath) showe combo was good although the shower had a mind of its own in terms of change in water temperature and it decision to randomly lurch itself of its fixture. I you did want a bath you had to lean around a fixed shower screen to turn the taps on. Definitely not for a person with reduced mobility. Moving onto the service, well the crew is all male …a little disconcerting for myself, especially given that Egypt has rules around practices of males and females (eg at airports). I felt (and purely my opinion) they were a little misogynistic and I would even say rude, in fact will say some were quite rude, although the younger crew members appeared to have a little more sensitivity. The kitchen staff appeared a little friendlier. (In defense of staff We did get a better response from some staff after our guide spoke to them, although he should not have needed to.) In fact we were very lucky to have someone to speak on our behalf otherwise it could have been far worse. Day 2 of the journey my husband was ready to do anything to avoid staying on the boat, hence the benefit of our guide. Speaking of the kitchen leads to food quality, the question I had was ‘where is the Egyptian food? The dining consisted mostly of mass cooked chicken pollo, and overcooked beef. The salads were a little better. Dining was literally like going to a soup kitchen except there were about 80-100 vying to eat at the one time. It was pretty woeful of course you were expected to pay extra for water (tap water not potable), again this was resolved after our guide spoke to management. Tea and machine coffee were freely provided ONLY at breakfast The experience, whilst on the river cruising was nice, you could escape from the masses and enjoy the passing scenery which Egypt has in spades. On docking you were up against another boat and we had the joy of being level with the kitchen workers on the next Baat staring into our cabin, hence had to close the curtains, which did not cover the window completely. For us overall the experience was very substandard and did dampen our enjoyment of a Nile cruise, If you still wanted to ‘chance’ the BR make sure you have a room that is: not under the dance floor, is away from the engines, has twin beds (double reduces room size and is not that comfortable), would suggest towards the very front of the boat. Also suggest you hide plenty of water in your suitcase as the first night I was told in no uncertain terms that “you cannot bring outside water into the dining room”, and there are signs not to bring any food or drink onboard. It is a cruise that is very much one of nickel and dining. Facilities on board included a small pool, dance floor and bar gift shop that was reasonable in price, and they did try to have themed nights. There are over 100 Nile cruise ships, many looked much better than ours so really do your research before signing up to the BR. Read more Written April 3, 2024
  • Getaway21206574742 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Greatly exceeded all of our expectations We just recently finished a 4 day river cruise on the Mayfair and had absolutely the best experience, it greatly exceeded our expectations. The service was top notch and the kind you’d see at a 5 star hotel or resort. For us the greatest surprise was the food. We were expecting bland or over salted food and instead felt we had gourmet meals for every sitting, even the buffets were incredible. Now granted the steak I had the second night was not as good as what I would normally get in the US, but it was good, just not a thick steak like I’m used to. Secondly we worried about the noise or gas fumes but the first night we were docked alone, one night with a few boats and then one night we were docked with the Mayflower in Luxor so we didn’t think the noise or fumes were bad at all. Overall these guys did a great job and we would absolutely return and highly recommend. Read more Written March 24, 2024
  • Corinne_harper1 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles An outstanding Nile experience A beautiful boat, fabulous cabins beautifully appointed with every amenity and enormous windows to see the Nile as you cruise. Outstanding service, wonderful meals. The trip was all planned to perfection so we visited the sites before the crowds. 4 of us went out each day in a minibus and guided by an expert Egyptologist (Yaouel). It definitely must be the best luxury cruise on the Nile. All of the staff deserve praise. Read more Written February 4, 2024
  • free-heelinUT 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Amazing staff but bad food Mayfair owns 3 boats. We were on the MS Mayfair. This boat is much older than the MS Mayflower and there was some wear and tear around the boat. The entire staff ( minus the reception) was amazing. They were friendly and helpful. The boat was immaculate. Unfortunately the food was poor quality. Based on the high price we paid for the cruise we expected the food to be much better than it was. The welcome cocktail party the first night looked and tasted like leftovers from an earlier cruise. The rest of our meals were uninspired and bland. While they had a variety of foods nothing tasted really good. However none of us experienced any GI illness which is common on cruises. They need to find a well trained chef to bring the food quality up a notch so it is equal to the high level of service provided and commensurate with the price charged for the cruise. • mirellas16201 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Amazing staff and great cruise ship! We booked directly with M/S Mayfair and we were appreciative from the beginning the prompt email responses to our questions before the trip as well as after booking. They arranged picked up from the airport and we were directly taken to the cruise ship which we were assigned to M/S Mayflower. The cruise ship staff was the best! I wish we could remember everyone’s name as everyone was amazing, a few names we do remember are Abdou, Soultan, Ahmed, M.D. Badawi from the the food and bar staff. Also, Soultan and Badawi kept us entertained figuring out some “table games”:) The cruise ship was impeccable and food was great with a variety of selection of buffet for breakfast and lunch, the course dinner was always a great selection to decide on. We did the 4 night/5 day cruise from Luxor to Aswan from November 27th to December 1st and throughout our trip day excursions we felt very safe and our tour guide, Mr. Adel was very educated and had great picture demonstrations-honestly the best tour guide! • robinjM3424IR 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Great service on the Nile but everything else needs attention The experience starts off great, the rooms are small the staff is wonderful. Our tour guide, let's just say, wasn't very motivated to stay with us and tell us everything that we could possibly ever want to know about the Egyptian temples. It was his preference to drop us off talk for a couple of minutes and then meet us later. The rooms on the ship were very clean. We enjoyed getting some sun the upper deck as we cruised down the Nile. The food was okay except for the day they made me some special soup, which led to a few special trips to the bathroom over the next couple of days. The service is above and beyond, and in all the places I've traveled in the world, 7 star. But the logistics in the operations Department failed we tied up to some other ships and there is either an outside party, wedding or just evening festivities on one side or engines running and the smell of diesel from the boat next to us on the other side. Towards the end of the trip we were offered a nature tour charge $50 per person the tour guide made a lot of money since to rent a boat it only cost $15 doesn't matter the number of people and tour no tour pointed out a few Birds. My entire stay in Egypt, I felt like I was being taken advantage of or hustled for money or misled. Read more Written December 2, 2023
  • TheQueenslander 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A good modern cruise with friendly staff Furnished like an international standard hotel, the river cruiser had small but nice rooms with small but functional bathrooms, Juliet balcony and openable glass doors. Although we had a small issue with dysfunctional Aircon, it was fixed quickly. Food choices were plentiful and our gluten intolerant friend had plenty of choices; certainly ate too much over the 4 days as there were many delicious items. The top deck could have done with more shade, but nice to have a tiny pool and bar up there. Drinks were somewhat overpriced. Staff were very friendly, always smiling with both wait staff and housekeeping staff never short of a greeting or stepping up to serve. We felt welcome and enjoyed coming back after our days of touring. Read more Written November 25, 2023
  • chuckn408 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Almost Cancelled Due to Conflict in Gaza We had planned our Nile River cruise with Mayfair cruises many months ago and when the war broke out in Gaza we seriously considered cancelling. After some discussion via e mail with Maureen (she was very helpful and professional- not to mention patient) we decided to go. We are so happy we did. Not only was the cruise entirely safe, it exceeded our expectations from an amenities, service and food quality perspective. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We have been on several cruises in the past including Hawaiian, Alaskan, Mediterranean and Caribbean but this was our first river cruise. It did not disappoint. While the temperatures were hot (32-35C) once the ship got moving it was very pleasant on the upper deck. We did tours every day and they were well worth the price, albeit they did make for a very busy day at times but better to be touring inland than sitting in port all day. Overall our experience was outstanding and really recommend this cruise line. Read more Written November 16, 2023

Every member of the crew no matter their role, made us welcome and were truly invested in making sure we enjoyed our time with them. The food, service and attention to detail were exceptional. • rmC9379EV 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A Wonderful Cruise on the Mayflower We booked the Mayflower because it is one of the newest boats cruising the Nile. The shower has good water pressure, the air conditioning was as icy as I like it, the windows are double pane and quiet. In short, exactly why you book a new boat. You go on a Nile Cruise to Egypt to see ancient Egypt. My wife and I were really excited for this trip, yes we are those strange people who read history for fun. We showed up with a heck of an itinerary and this 4 night cruise was just a portion of our 12 days in Egypt. We were very pleased to be touring in a smaller group of 12 people rather than the huge groups of people exiting buses and following around guide in horde wearing earphones. Huge advantage vs other Nile cruises. We had several guides during our time in Egypt some of them even recommended by friends who had been previously. But the Egyptologist on the Mayflower (his name was Adell) was far and away the best we encountered and touring with him was one of the highlights of the trip. Adell is originally a high school history teacher, he is tremendously passionate about Ancient Egypt in a way that our other guides were not. It’s a relatively common career path and frankly most others just knew the bare minimum to satisfy the average tourist. Adell spoke perfect English, and of the many many people we encountered he was the one we had complete trust in. Kudos to Mayflower for hiring one of the best. Someday we will be back to see the more esoteric sites with Adell. The food was actually quite good, and very good when the chefs made Egyptian food (more of this please), we were definitely never hungry. No one in our group of got food poisoning on the boat. That alone is a big win. Service was great, they remember your drink order, check in regularly with a smile. Housekeeping was excellent, the boat was spotless, cabins always immaculate when we returned. Overall cruising the Nile on the Mayflower was a wonderful experience. Even just sitting in the pool as Egypt slowly passes by was something we will never forget. Read more Written October 18, 2023

Cabin was comfortable, in good condition and kept very clean, housekeepers offering to clean more than once a day of required. Great selection of food and lots of it and restaurant staff very helpful and attentive. All drinks are payable but reasonably priced. Evening entertainment was good but not going on too long. Bar staff again very helpful and attentive. The top deck is comfortable and a great place to relax whilst cruising although the hot tubs are showing their age. Read more Written April 22, 2023
  • Benj T 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles If you’re doing a Nile cruise look no further Took the 4 night cruise on the MS Mayfair in an Executive cabin with Veranda. Note I did not use Sun Pyramid tours but I booked direct which was painless and am sure cheaper! Positives: - The boat is well maintained and the decor was tasteful and felt luxurious. The only boats we saw sailing alongside that were comparable/nicer were the Historia and the Jaz Regent, and both of those are more expensive than Mayfair, so I’d say Mayfair is the most bang for your buck luxury wise (I also did extensive internet research before the trip). - Staff were always helpful and very friendly. If you have cute kids you WILL get free drinks. - The food was usually good with the lunch buffets and Egyptian good being the highlights. Dinner sometimes was a bit more average. - Booking direct so we were given a group guide by Mayfair, but the group ended up being just us and a family of 3, so ended up pretty much like a private tour. Whenever boats were rented it was only the 5 of us plus the guide which was great (compared to some tours having 20+ people). If you are thinking of booking via an agent for the purpose of a private guide, I’d highly recommend booking direct for cheaper. - Veranda room with chairs was a great luxury to have, although not necessary as you can also sit on the lounge balconies which are usually empty. Negatives: - For young couples you will be a small minority as it was mainly families with kids. This is likely an issue for all Nile cruises. Wouldn’t say this is the best honeymoon destination. - Executive cabins include free drinks but only Egyptian alcohol is part of the package and the wine is quite average. Drinks at meals were not included but staff were fine with us getting drinks at the bar and bringing them to meals. - Pool is tiny and smaller than other boats. - They were at full capacity and we were made to share a table at meals with the family in our tour group. They were lovely people so it ended up great, but I could imagine it could potentially be a problem for some. If I made an issue out of it I imagine they could’ve created a new table for us, but I never felt the need to ask. Overall Niles cruises are certainly not cheap but a cruise is the only comfortable way to visit Luxor/Aswan and again this one was a perfect mix of luxury but good value. Would rate it a 4.5 star/5 as there were small issues but overall was a lovely time. Given how hit or miss I understand some of these Nile cruises can be (the decor of some we saw looked truly awful), this one is a massive hit and highly recommended. Read more Written April 11, 2023

Day 1 Karnak and Luxor Temples Welcome to Luxor and the start of a wonderful Nile cruise holiday. This morning our tour will begin with visiting the magnificent Temple of Karnak. More than a temple, Karnak is a gigantic and stunning complex of sanctuaries and pylons dedicated to the Theban gods, considered one of the best Luxor tours, then Luxor temple which is 3400 years old built by King Amenhotep III and King Ramses II. After finishing our tour, now we Transfer you in a private air conditioned car to your Nile Cruise, Rest of Day Relaxing. Then we spend the night in our authentic Nile cruise.

Day 2 visiting valley of the kings Take a flight over Luxor with Luxor Optionapl hot air balloon ride early this morning before we tour the ancient city of Thebes. The massive pair of statues known as the Colossi of Memnon are the first monuments you’ll see during our morning visit to Luxor – home to the legendary Valley of the Kings. After that, enjoy watching Luxor west bank famous industry, making the alabaster, by visiting the village of the artisans and meeting the locals who are descended from the ancient workers who curved the tombs and built the temples to know more about their hand skills in making the Alabaster. You’ll also see the colonnaded Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Anchors away this afternoon as we set sail downstream to Edfu.

Day 3 Edfu Temple Nile cruising. Relax as we sail the Nile. Breakfast on board of the Nile cruise. Early This morning we visit the magnifisent temple of Lord Horus the falcon (Edfu Temple). -Ride the horse carriage to see the local city of Edfu. -Visit the Temple of Edfu (dedicated to the God Horus-falcon-headed god). -Back to Nile cruise by horse carriage. - Anchors away again as we set sail downstream to Kom Ombo., have your lunch meal on board with the sailing towards Kom Ombo. A unique riverside temple, it is unusual in that everything architecturally is doubled and perfectly symmetrical along the main axis of the temple including twin halls, courts, colonnades, sanctuaries and entrances.

Day 4 Aswan highlights Nile cruiser – Aswan: This morning after having breakfast in your nile cruise, we Check out of the cruise ship then enjoy a short boat trip to Agilika Island for Philae Temple – dedicated to the goddess Isis. The temple dates from the 4th century BC but the Ptolemies and the Romans up to the 3rd century AD built most of the existing structures. We consider it the best of Aswan tours. In danger of being completely submerged by the rising water of Lake Nasser, in 1972 UNESCO stepped in and an 8-year rescue effort was undertaken to relocate the entire temple 20m higher on nearby Agilika Island. Then, we visit Aswan High Dam. Also today we Enjoy watching Aswan most famous industry, Essence and oils workshop, to know more about Aromatherapy treatment in ancient Egypt. Finally, transfer to Aswan airport.
