We exist to introduce people to jesus and help them follow him..

Welcome home! We meet every Sunday morning at 1801 S Fayetteville St, Asheboro, NC 27205. Pre-K through Elementary ages meet at the same time, but our teens meet Sunday nights. In lieu of adult “Sunday School,” we encourage our church family to meet together throughout the week in Life Groups, to study the Word of God and grow their relationships.

Church-Wide Spring Picnic

April 21st, following second service

Keep calm, and let’s get our picnic on! Join us for our Church-Wide Spring Picnic! Lunch will be provided (hamburgers + hotdogs, chips, and limited vegetarian options) as well as Kona Ice! Come prepared to have some outdoor fun; we’ll have kickball, corn hole, and bounce houses! Please bring blankets and yard chairs for seating.

In the event of rain we will still enjoy a meal together indoors.

Ages: Kindergarten – 5th

In J Kidz, we are extremely passionate about pouring the love of Christ into our children. We believe in teaching them they can trust God, and He is always with them.

Ages: 6th – 12th Grade

JCrew is a movement that strives to introduce students to Jesus and help them follow Him. We accomplish this through community relationships, life-changing camps, and real life application of God’s Word.

About Journey Church

Journey Through the Years

Charleston, South Carolina is known as the Holy City; and across its skyline there are hundreds of churches. But unfortunately many areas in Charleston are known as 10% regions, which means that less than 10% of the people who live in Charleston are associated with an evangelical community church. 

So God is set on seeing every man, woman, and child has multiple opportunities to see, hear, and respond to the gospel. Opportunities for the people in our city to be redeemed through the church in Charleston.

Journey Church was birthed out of the same passion to see this city and its people redeemed and in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Twelve adults and eight children partnered with the Journey Church to plant this church that is dedicated to scattering missionaries across the city and planting churches throughout the world. These twelve adults and these eight children moved down from Mount Washington, Kentucky–sent from a church in Mount Washington–to see this kind of church, a unique church planted in the city, for the city, so that God’s people might be redeemed to Himself. These adults and children began to rally around this unique vision, and this unique vision began to rally new people to the cause.

The church that started in a living room began to quickly expand, challenging us for the first time: would we be a church that exists for ourselves? Or would we be the type of church that exists so that people who are not yet with us and not yet with God would have the opportunity to be in community with us and with God?

We started our first worship service in September of 2007. A sister church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, allowed for us to use their facility starting at 5pm, and our church grew there for 2.5 years, growing to about 110 people in worship. Again for the second time, this budding and thriving church faced the same decision we had faced while in my living room: would we exist for ourselves? Would we be satisfied, or would we continue to reach out to those that are far from God?

We made the decision in 2010 to move into our Treeland Drive location, where the church grew to 500. In 2021, our founding pastor became a church planting strategist for the North American Mission Board in the city of Los Angeles. Journey Church began a months-long process with our elders and search committee to locate God’s next Lead Pastor, and in March of 2022, partners confirmed the nomination of Pastor Chris Fowler. 

All of these changes have brought new and exciting challenges. But what we’ve never turned away from is our mission: that we would make sure that every man, woman, and child would have multiple opportunities to see, hear, and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We want to be a church that develops and deploys missionary disciples all across our city, sees families redeemed, and sees churches planted.
