There were camels, good food, shisha and of course dune bashing! Because I love desert safaris so much, I have put together a list of the best desert safaris in Dubai. 

One thing I would honestly say is that it really will make a difference when you book your desert safari online. Sure: your hotel will probably have a concierge service or a travel agent they work with that will be able to book the desert safari for you – but the few times I enquired (I was curious as to how much it would cost!) the prices they quoted were an absolute rip off! One of them shoved a flyer under my nose for a $90 desert safari – while we went on THAT EXACT SAME ONE just a month earlier for $40 . I would recommend booking your desert safari online because it can save you a lot of money !

There's a new tour posted on Viator that says it goes to Lahbab region. Is this different from everyone else? I seem to read that the safaris mostly go to Al Aweer and the good ones go to DCCR.

There's a lot of horror stories about these desert safaris but the ones recommended like Heritage tours are really quite expensive. Anyone have a guess as to which company runs this one?

Do not see the difference. Al Awir and Lahbab are very close.

The description sounds like the classic dune bashing with camp and Russian belly dancers.

The picture is likely taken from lonely planet but seems to come originally either from Morocco or the Namib desert. So all in all I would go with the classic good dune bashing tour operators such as Arabian Adventures. If you go for low cost dune bashing you will get a low quality dune bashing. No price wonder here.

You definitely get what you pay for with desert safaris and I always think it helps to point out that you won't need dinner so factor that in to your cost budget.

The recommended ones are upwards of 300 dirham and that's because they are the best ones.

It's just like accommodation really - if you pay for a 2 or 3* experience then that is what you get
