What to expect on your factory tour

Available at Solihull and Liverpool, go behind the scenes and witness what it takes to bring some of the most iconic Land Rovers to life.

A typical experience includes :

After a welcome drink you'll have an introduction and be transported to the factory facility to start your tour.

You'll be shown different areas of the facility from press shop to trim and final and witness how everything comes together to build our world-renowned vehicles.

You will be guided by an expert tour host who will bring the history of Land Rover to life.

'Our tour host was absolutely brilliant, she was able to answer any question about the factory or JLR thrown at her. The tour itself was fascinating, the logistics of putting everything together really is difficult to comprehend. A really incredible experience to see the robots and machinery at work. The staff were really friendly and quite often interacted with the tour and the tour guide.'

For those who want to get behind the wheel, a range of off-road adventures are on offer that will give you driving memories to last a lifetime. From one hour Taster Drives, to Half and Full Day Experiences, feel the thrill of driving the latest Land Rover models.

Activities range from navigation bridge crossings and rock crawls, to tackling infamous inclines and deep-water trenches of the Jungle Track. Once you’ve conquered those, there are more purpose built off-steep descents of the of the Land Track.

• Cameras, video recorders or any type of recording or photography device or mobile phone are strictly prohibited in all the manufacturing facilities and their surrounding areas.
• There are no facilities at the centres for secure storage of personal items. Due to on site security restrictions, handbags, rucksacks and all other types of hand luggage are prohibited in all manufacturing areas.
• To avoid any damage to a production vehicle during the manufacturing tour, we will supply protective over wear to cover items such as watches, jewellery and belt buckles. However we would suggest that such items be left securely at home where possible.
• Please be aware that pace makers may be affected in certain areas of the production facilities by certain electronic manufacturing equipment.
• Areas of the manufacturing tour may not be suitable for expectant mothers, please contact the centre prior to visit.
• Children must be over the age of 10 and must be accompanied by their parents or guardian at the prevailing rate.
• Pets or animals of any nature are expressly prohibited at any JLRE Centre (except for guide dogs, hearing dogs and registered assistance dogs) and, for the avoidance of doubt, should not be left in any vehicle parked at the JLRE Centre. We reserve the right to contact any relevant authority to make and be responsible for any decision in relation to any animals that are left unsupervised or that are found to be in distress.

The initial meet and greet was spot on - Tracy was very welcoming and her team provided yummy biscuits and drinks! This Solihull venue is the very best. The instructor Phil was really knowledgeable and lets you ‘just get in with it’ whilst giving expert guidance throughout and lots of interesting facts about the factory past and present. We asked for a new Defender and that’s what we got. We had a previous bad experience test driving one through our local dealership so the chance to really put one through its paces was ideal - and we took it to the limits I’m sure! A fab venue, awesome course, steps, ruts, deep water and more - you’ll have a great time here! One word of caution - although the vehicle can seat five people, we were a family of 4 but only three people allowed with the instructor at any one time, meaning someone had to stay behind. We could swap halfway through so not a major issue, but I think this should be made much clearer when booking. I’m off to scour the internet for the best deal to buy a new Defender! I did a 1hr taster drive in a Range Rover, absolutely fantastic, Chris was a great instructor, explaining technique, car functions, settings and the history of the site. It's incredible what these vehicles will do and probably 95% of people will never even take them off road! The only disappointment is the modern automatic cars - they pretty much do everything by themselves so everything seemed too easy (despite the course being quite challenging actually). So didn't learn any real off road driving skills, just learned what settings to choose and how good the car was (and it really was good, we seriously considered buying one during the activity - didn't last long though, only until we realised how much it actually cost). Didn’t know what to expect on the day, we chose to do the experience in the defender which was a wonderful vehicle! We were greeted my the LR team who were very welcoming, we enjoyed a hot drink and biscuit before we were briefed The instructor Jo was awesome! Started with introductions and what we wanted out of the day then we headed off for our experience We went in identical vehicles Jo up front with walkie-talkie and we follow behind, we had information about the site and the history of LR as well as pointing out interesting facts & wildlife The communication of what we needed to do with the vehicle before each section was clear to follow (following the car in front was also really helpful , having a visual helped) My son did the first half of the experience and he was great and loved everything about it, Jo was very encouraging which gives the confidence to do the experience My other half was up next and we he did the jungle course which was incredible! Cannot believe what these vehicles can do! He also loved everything, I really enjoyed the experience even though I was scared of everything, I didn’t want to drive I did a small bit to experience the defender and enjoyed it, maybe next time I will try a little bit more Although I didn’t experience the things my crew did the whole day was incredible! Jo was fantastic , I would definitely book to go back I didn’t realise you could purchase these experiences but now I do I would definitely book another, I have since purchased the Jaguar F Pace experience for my son I was amazing at what these vehicles can do and for me when I come across a deep puddle my car can go through it and I don’t have to turn around ! I had an amazing fun instructor called Mark! Honestly loved every second of it, had so much fun didn’t want it to end especially because of how enjoyable Mark made the day for me. I will most definitely be back for another action packed day and wont be forgetting my experience here ever! He chose to drive the Ranger Rover, which was an absolutely beautiful vehicle. All of the staff we met at the centre were unbelievably friendly, helpful and attentive. Our instructor was a Phil and he was a total legend! He really made the experience special with his friendliness, knowledge, reassurance etc. He showed us exactly how to push the car to its absolute limits! We expected him to be in the vehicle with us but due to covid restrictions, he drove separately in front and communicated via walkie talkie. We actually preferred it this way! The experience exceeded anything I could have imagined! Driving through deep water, driving down flights of steps, driving on slopes of almost 30 degrees! I have never laughed or squealed so much in my life!! I had never imagined that there could be such a beautiful woodland setting right on the edge of such a large manufacturing site. It was a really beautiful location and amazing to see the JLR site as we drove through it. Thank you JLR Solihull and Phil especially, for a wonderful experience. I had an amazing fun instructor called Mark! Honestly loved every second of it, had so much fun didn’t want it to end especially because of how enjoyable Mark made the day for me. He chose to drive the Ranger Rover, which was an absolutely beautiful vehicle. All of the staff we met at the centre were unbelievably friendly, helpful and attentive. Our instructor was a Phil and he was a total legend! He really made the experience special with his friendliness, knowledge, reassurance etc. He showed us exactly how to push the car to its absolute limits! We expected him to be in the vehicle with us but due to covid restrictions, he drove separately in front and communicated via walkie talkie. We actually preferred it this way! The experience exceeded anything I could have imagined! Driving through deep water, driving down flights of steps, driving on slopes of almost 30 degrees! I have never laughed or squealed so much in my life!! I had never imagined that there could be such a beautiful woodland setting right on the edge of such a large manufacturing site. It was a really beautiful location and amazing to see the JLR site as we drove through it. Thank you JLR Solihull and Phil especially, for a wonderful experience. Full day drive experience  .

Land Rover’s engineers to develop new vehicles making the perfect adventure for a day out, corporate event or entertainment. Located in the heart of Land Rover’s Manufacturing site, the Land Rover Experience Solihull offers a range of authentic experiences that provide an insight into the world of the renowned brand. 

For over half a century, Land Rover has pursued a single-minded goal - to build the best SUVs in the world and with a drive experience you will get a full taste of what these vehicles can really do.  

The experience includes a 7 – hour day tailored to you. No matter what your skill level, tackle steep hills, steer through deep water, rutted tracks and ditches with a fully trained expert instructor and leave feeling on top of the world with a boosted set of driving skills.

Adventure through the amazing settings whilst being in full control of a world class Land Rover or Land Rover Defender 110.

A luscious lunch is also included before, during or after your adventure.

Duration: 7 hours

Availability:  Monday - Friday* based on availability

Price: £549 per person | £25 per additional passenger or driver (maximum 2 people)

Half Day Drive Experience (Exclusive)

Duration: 3 hours | 9am - 12pm or 1pm - 4pm

Availability:  Monday - Saturday* based on availability

Price: £450 per person | £20 per additional passenger or driver (maximum 1 person)

Taster Drive Experience 

For guests who want to get behind the wheel, the one hour Taster Drive delivers an introduction to Land Rover vehicles and off-road driving skill.

Take a guided tour of Solihull’s manufacturing site and gain an insight into the latest state-of-the-art manufacturing process for Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar and Jaguar F-PACE. Observe the press shop, then skillfully-managed body construction process, before visiting Trim and Final to understand how vehicles are finished and recognised as customer-ready. £70 per person

SOLIHULL VIP FACTORY TOUR

Welcomed by personnel concierge, this is a real immersion into the Range Rover world. Your tour begins in the Meridian TM  Theatre before you are chauffeured to the key production areas including premium lightweight architecture facility, the paint shop and Trim and Final. Your VIP experience includes refreshments and Welcome, a dedicated group tour guide and access to privileged areas. £400 exclusive tour for two guests

LIVERPOOL FACTORY TOUR

Take a guided tour of Halewood’s manufacturing site for a first-hand look at the manufacturing process for Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport. Observe the pressing, sealing, welding and fitting of body panels before taking in the impressive two-mile line of Trim and Final, where the vehicle emerges tested and customer-ready. Extend your visit at Halewood with a one-hour Taster Drive to experience the all-terrain capability of a Land Rover first-hand. £70 per person

CONFIGURATION EXPERIENCE

In a one-to-one session, our experts will guide you in the choice of stunning coachwork colours for your vehicle, coordinate luxurious leather finishes and veneer trims to create your own bespoke interior.
