Getting Started

At Local 97, we have a long history of helping people with no experience get the training and skills they need to be safe and successful in this industry. For those wanting to enter the trade with no experience, we recommend taking the Ironworker Foundation program at BCIT. This program offers a comprehensive overview of the trade, and puts students to work practicing the skills and using the tools they will need in the field. With extensive opportunities for practice, this program lives up to its name by giving you the foundation you need for a career as an Ironworker.

Some experience?

We realize that there are many ways people find their way into the trade, and try to match your experience and goals with the appropriate training program. If you have experience in the trade, there are other options for school. Ironworkers Local 97 will take you on and put you to work, and after a few months of working with our contractors we offer you a chance to become a registered apprentice, and attend the Level 1 Ironworker Generalist Program at BCIT.

Is it worth it?

Entrance into these attractions is worth much more than the cost of the CityPass, yet it offers even more, for example, the Pushkin Museum , the Museum of the History of Vodka and the Museum of Contemporary History , among others, plus discounts at restaurants, shows and shops. If you're already planning to visit these sights, then it's well worth buying the CityPass to save money on tickets.

Where to buy the Moscow CityPass?

You can buy your   Moscow CityPass online in advance  via our website . Then, all you need to do is collect it from the Komsomolskaya Tourist Information Centre  (Komsomolskaya Square, 5-1), near the Komsomolskaya metro station. The office is open from 9 am until 8 pm.

Use the Pension Enrolment Card and Beneficiary Designation form to enrol in the Ironworkers Local 97 Pension Plan and to select your beneficiaries. Once a Member of the Plan, all  changes to Member information or beneficiaries should also be made by completing this form in full.

Information Needed to Complete the Form

Your personal Member information is needed to complete the form.

Please follow the instructions on the form and ensure that you have completed the card in full.

If you have a spouse, you must designate him/her as your Pension beneficiary . If you do not have a spouse you may select any person, or your estate, to be your Pension beneficiary. Please ensure that you complete this section of the card.

If you are new to the Plan, you should also complete the Health & Welfare Enrolment Card and Beneficiary Designation to enrol in the Health & Welfare Plan.

Questions on completing the form should be directed to the Plan Administrator .

Completed forms should be forwarded to the Plan Administrator .

    The Moscow Metro provides various fare options, and the cost of a single trip is highest when purchasing one-time travel cards.     Use the Transportation Assistance Claim Form to claim for eligible transportation expenses incurred by you or an eligible dependent. Your fully completed claim form and receipts can be emailed to [email protected] or faxed to (604) 299-8136 or mailed to the Plan Administrator.

    The CityPass is activated at the moment of the first visit of any object included in the free program. Come to a ticket desk (somewhere you can do it without queue) and show your Moscow CityPass card.
