What are the prize money payouts for the 38 tournaments on the 2024 pga tour schedule, share this article.
There are 38 events on the PGA Tour’s 2024 schedule, with 37 of them doling out $ 398,900,000 in prize money payouts.
The Tour Championship provides the biggest paydays to the lucky 30 who reach the season finale, but all of the money distributed at East Lake Golf Club is considered bonus.
So it’s the first 37 events of the season that the write checks – or shall we say, eletronic transfers – the big sums that count towards the official money list.
The Players Championship has the most official money at stake. There are eight signature events with $20 million purses. There’s the majors and the FedEx Cup Playoff events. Then there’s the best of the rest and finally the four opposite-field affairs.
To repeat, there’s nearly $400 million in official prize money and another $75 in bonus money up for grabs on the PGA Tour in 2024. Here’s a breakdown.
The Players Championship

The so-called fifth major has the most dough available with a $25 million purse and a $4.5 million first-place prize. The top five will clear $1 million.

The U.S. Open is the richest of the four men’s majors. The Open matched the signature events in 2023 with a $20 million total purse and a $3.6 million first-place check. Like all the men’s majors for 2024, the total purse numbers will be unveiled the week of the tournament. The Masters unveiled its money totals during Saturday’s third round . Here’s what the four majors paid out in 2023:

Of the eight signature events in 2024, three are of the Players-hosted variety. All signature events have a $20 million total purse but these three have an increased first-place prize of $4 million.

Among the other five signature events in 2024, most are repeats from a year ago but the WM Phoenix Open has dropped off, replaced by the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
FedEx Cup Playoff tournaments

There are three FedEx Cup Playoff tournaments but the third, the Tour Championship, doles out its loot in the form of bonus money. It spends the same but it does not count towards a players official money.

Among this group, the Bryon Nelson is the one with the biggest payday. The Canadian Open is not far behind.
There were five of these with a purse less than $8 million a year ago. Now there’s just one, as the money continues to rise across the Tour.
The opposite-field events
There are four of these opposite-field events, all of them providing golfers with a change at a valuable PGA Tour win. The money is up on all of them but still short of a million dollar first-place prize. One of them is a new event at Myrtle Beach.

Here's the FedEx Cup prize money payout for each golfer at the 2023 Tour Championship

To the winner goes the spoils. But the spoils that come with winning this week’s Tour Championship for Viktor Hovland … well they’re the spectacular variety.
Try $18 million.
Yep, that’s the payday the 25-year-old from Norway collected (after earning $3.6 million for his win last week at the BMW Championship) by closing with a Sunday 63 at East Lake Golf Club (after shooting a Sunday 61 for his win last week at the BMW) to claim a five-shot triumph over Xander Schauffele. Officially, the money on the line this week in Atlanta is not tournament prize money, but rather the payout for the $75 million FedEx Cup bonus pool that players are receiving for their finishes in the season-long points race. (No player’s career earnings increases as a result of their performance in the 2022-23 season finale.)
But that doesn’t mean the cash isn’t crazy. We’ve noted this in the past, but we think it’s worth repeating: For their entire PGA Tour careers, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, winners of 25 majors and 135 tour titles, earned a combined $7,595,888. The difference between finishing first and second this week alone is more than that ($11.5 million).
Here then is the prize money payout for each golfer in the final FedEx Cup standings after the conclusion of the Tour Championship. As with regular PGA Tour events, money is split equally among players if there are tied for different places in this last event of the 2022-23 PGA Tour season.
An additional note: Every player in the FedEx Cup top 150 earns some distribution from the bonus pool. It’s why the list below has far more prize money payouts than just the 30 competing in the Tour Championship.

Tour Championship money: Total purse, payout breakdown and winner’s share
The total purse for the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta is $9 million, and the winner will bring home $1.62 million.
The field is only 30 players, but it wasn’t easy to get this far. Pros had to first qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs (the top 125) and then advance through the first three stages of the postseason, which finally whittled the field down to 30 for East Lake.
The runner-up of the Tour Championship receives $972,000, third place gets $621,000, fourth 432,000 and fifth 360,000. Winning on Sunday also goes a long way in claiming the FedEx Cup title and the $10 million bonus. Other players get hefty bonus checks as well.
Tiger Woods leads the Tour Championship after 54 holes, holding a three-stroke lead over Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose.
The complete payout breakdown for the Tour Championship is below.
1. $1.62 million 2. $972,000 3. $621,000 4. $432,000 5. $360,000 6. $324,000 7. $306,000 8. $288,000 9. $270,000 10. $255,600 11. $243,000 12. $230,400 13. $219,600 14. $208,800 15. $198,000 16. $190,800 17. $183,600 18. $180,000 19. $176,400 20. $172,800 21. $169,200 22. $165,600 23. $162,000 24. $158,400 25. $154,800 26. $151,200 27. $149,400 28. $147,600 29. $145,800 30. $144,000
2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Prize Money Breakdown and Winner's Payout

Zurich Classic payout distribution 2024: Prize money, purse
How much money is on the line at the PGA Tour's lone team event on the schedule?
By Cody Williams | Apr 28, 2024
It's a unique week on the PGA Tour annually whenever the Zurich Classic of New Orleans comes up on the calendar. This trip to TPC Louisiana, of course, is the sole team golf event on the Tour every year, with a blend of four-ball and foursomes rounds to determine a champion. And there was a bit of star power in the 2024 Zurich Classic field with the familiar Xander Schauffele/Patrick Cantlay pairing but also Rory McIlroy playing the event for the first time alongside Irishman Shane Lowry.
As the tournament got off and running, the McIlroy and Lowry pairing remained in the mix through 54 holes, entering the final round at T3. However, they were trailing some hungry players with less pedigree as Zac Blair and Patrick Fishburn held the 54-hole lead with Luke List and Henrik Norlander in solo second just one stroke behind for the final round of always-difficult alternate shot play.
With the team aspect of the tournament, though, it makes the Zurich Classic payout and purse quite interesting as there is both a team payout and individual prize money to consider. So how much money is on the line this week on the PGA Tour? We have the full breakdown for you.
Zurich Classic purse 2024: Winner's prize money, total purse
The winners of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans will receive $1,286,050 in prize money individually with a team prize of $2,572,100 being awarded to the winning pairing. This is a large sum of the $8.9 million purse on the line this week at TPC Louisiana, but perhaps the biggest part of this for the winners -- as we saw last year with Nick Hardy and Davis Riley winning -- is that it comes as a full official PGA Tour win for both players, meaning that exemptions into majors and other tournaments along with a full allotment of FedEx Cup points are also in play.
Zurich Classic payout distribution by finishing position in 2024
Here's a look at the team prize money as well as the individual payout for each finishing position at the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
As mentioned, the team structure of the event makes for the Zurich Classic payout looking a bit different than your normal PGA Tour tournament. We have only 40 teams that made the cut (which is Top 33 and ties for this event), so the prize money is listed as both what the team earns and what each individual earns.
Even with this, it's nice to see that the winners clear the $1.2 million mark individually with more than $2.5 million being awarded to the winning team. However, with this relatively limited field and unique format, the fact that every individual that comes inside the Top 11 earns at least six figures is a great look for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

2024 RBC Heritage purse, prize money: Payout for Scottie Scheffler, golfers from $20M signature event pool
Another signature event means another big winner's check was up for grabs in south carolina.
Another week, another monstrous purse on the PGA Tour (taken home by Scottie Scheffler). The first signature event to be played following the 2024 Masters took place in Hilton Head, South Carolina, with the RBC Heritage hosting the best golfers on Tour -- and the best golfer in the world came out on top once again
With $20 million on the line in totality, Scottie Scheffler won for the fourth time in his last five starts , cashing a cool $3.6 million winner's share.
There was not a cut in place this week, so everyone in the field was guaranteed at least $41,000 no matter how many crooked numbers they posted. This is the new way of life for Tour pros as this is one of eight big-money signature events, only three of which have a cut.
Your first four winners from signature events this season ...
- The Sentry: Chris Kirk ($3.6 million)
- Pebble Beach Pro Am: Wyndham Clark ($3.6 million)
- Genesis Invitational: Hideki Matsuyama ($4 million)
- Arnold Palmer Invitational: Scottie Scheffler ($4 million)
- RBC Heritage: Scottie Scheffler ($3.6 million)
Scheffler has now won $16.25 million over his last five starts, including $3.6 million for taking the 2024 Masters, $4.5 million for winning The Players Championship and $554,000 for finishing second at the Houston Open.
The Wells Fargo Championship, Memorial and Travelers Championship will round out the eight signature events for 2024. Only the Memorial will have a cut. Add it all up, and there is nearly $200 million at stake between those eight tournaments plus The Players Championship, which Scheffler won in early March.
Let's take a look at the payout list for the 2024 RBC Heritage for the 69 players who are playing this event.
