Bihar terror module: Was PM Modi's Patna visit on target? Retired Jharkhand cop among three arrested

Bihar terror module: several objectionable documents pertaining to islamic extremism have been seized from the possession of the accused..

  • Bihar Police have busted "potential terror module indulging in anti-India activities"
  • Training of suspected terrorists had started 15 days before PM Modi's visit
  • An FIR has been registered against 26 people

"We keep an eye on such institutions on routine work. Because the Prime Minister was coming, we were alert and in the meantime we came to know about these people's office and we started investigating it closely. FIR has been lodged against a total of 26 people of which 3 people have been arrested," Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)(Bihar), Manish Kumar said.

PM Modi was on a visit to Bihar to attend a function organised on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the Bihar Assembly as part of which he unveiled a commemorative pillar, planted a sapling of 'Kalpataru' tree and laid foundation stones of a guest house and a library.

During the investigation, Bihar Police found that Parvez was in constant touch with members of several overseas organisations and was raising foreign funds to carry out anti-India activities. An FIR has been registered against 26 people. The training of suspected terrorists had also started in Phulwari Sharif 15 days before PM Modi's visit. As soon as the information was received, the police raided and arrested two people.

"They were teaching locals how to use swords and knives and also instigating them for communal violence. An investigation has revealed that people from other states were visiting them in Patna. Those visitors used to change their names while staying in hotels in the Bihar capital to conceal their identities," he said. Several objectionable documents pertaining to Islamic extremism have been seized from their possession, the ASP said. Parvez's younger brother had been jailed in 2001-02 in connection with several bomb blast cases in Bihar after SIMI was banned, Kumar said. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also been engaged by the police for further probe pertaining to their money trail," he added.

'Make India an Islamic nation by 2047

An excerpt from an eight-page-long document recovered from the accused titled 'India vision 2047' talks about "subjugating coward majority community and bringing back the glory". Police said their internal document is very objectionable and talks of the "rule of Islam in India". Kumar said an excerpt from an eight-page long document they shared amongst themselves titled 'India vision 2047' says, "PFI confident that even if 10 per cent of total Muslim population rally behind it, PFI would subjugate coward majority community and bring back the glory," he added. He said the document mentions that in case of a full-fledged showdown with the state, "apart from relying on cadres we would need help from friendly Islamic countries." "In the last few years PFI has developed friendly relations with Turkey, a flag-bearer of Islam," the police official quoted from the document.

The Kerala High Court observed in May this year that PFI and its political wing SDPI are extremist organisations indulging in serious acts of violence. It, however, said that these organisations are not banned. The bench of Justice K Haripal made the observation while dismissing the plea seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of RSS worker S Sanjith "No doubt, SDPI and PFI are extremist organisations indulging in serious acts of violence. All the same, those are not banned organisations," the court had said.

PM Modi to visit Bihar on March 2, his first after NDA returns to power in state

Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PATNA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off the election campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls by addressing a public meeting in Aurangabad on March 2.

It will be Modi’s maiden visit to Bihar after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar snapped ties with the grand alliance INDIA bloc and formed a new government with BJP on January 28.

Deputy Chief Minister and state BJP president Samrat Choudhary in an interaction with mediapersons confirmed Modi’s visit. Choudhary was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Prime Minister’s weekly programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broscast.

He said, “Prime Minister will be in Aurangabad and Begusarai districts on March 2 for the launch of several projects. He will also address public meetings.” He revealed that PM is scheduled to launch projects worth Rs.2 lakh crore for Bihar in the next 10 days either through the virtual mode or in person.

Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency is presently represented by BJP MP Sushil Kumar Singh. He had defeated Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM)’s candidate Upendra Prasad. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Singh defeated Congress candidate and former Delhi Police Commissioner Nikhil Kumar.

Aurangabad is part of Magadh region where the grand alliance's performance was best in the 2020 state assembly election. The grand alliance had won 51 out of 71 seats in Magadh and adjoining Shahabad regions. NDA had managed to win only 18 out of 49 seats in the Magadh region and two out of 19 in the Shahabad region.

Begusarai Lok Sabha seat is represented by Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh. Giriraj is facing a tough challenge this time. BJP’s internal survey report has identified 10 Lok Sabha seats, which the party has to work hard to ensure victory of the candidates.

Besides Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also visit Bihar in the first week of March. Preceded by these visits, defence minister Rajnath Singh is also expected to visit the state on February 28. He is expected to address a public meeting during his visit.

BJP state president said that the Prime Minister may visit the state once more ahead of the Lok Sabha election.

“Tomorrow PM Modi is going to launch railway projects worth Rs.70,000 crore for Bihar through virtual mode. After his March 2 visit, he may come to the state once more for the launch of other projects before election dates are announced,” he added.

pm modi patna visit

pm modi patna visit

PM Modi to visit these temples in Tamil Nadu on Jan 20 and 21 ahead of Ram Temple's ‘pran prathishtha’

In the lead-up to the ayodhya consecration ceremony on january 22, modi has been visiting temples associated with lord ram during his official state visits..

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit significant temples in Tamil Nadu from January 20 to 21 ahead of the 'pran prathishtha' ceremony for the Ram Temple on January 22, as per a statement from the prime minister's office.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi performs Pooja and Darshan at Guruvayur Temple in Guruvayur, Kerala on Wednesday. (ANI)

Modi will start with a programme at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchirappalli on Saturday, where scholars will recite verses from the Kamba Ramayanam. Following this, he will visit Rameswaram to perform Darshan and Pooja in Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple. Continuing the tradition of attending Ramayana chanting in various languages, Modi will participate in the program 'Shri Ramayana Paryana' at this temple.

On January 21, PM Modi is scheduled to conduct Darshan and Pooja at Kothandaramaswamy Temple in Dhanushkodi. In proximity to Dhanushkodi, he will also visit Arichal Munai, believed to be the location where the Ram Setu was constructed.

"In the programme, eight different traditional Mandalis will recite the Sanskrit, Awadhi, Kashmiri, Gurumukhi, Assamese, Bengali, Maithili, and Gujarati Ramkathas (recounting the episode of Shri Rama's return to Ayodhya). This is in line with Bharatiya cultural ethos and bonding, which is at the core of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. In Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple, Prime Minister will also participate in Bhajan Sandhya, where multiple devotional songs would be sung at the temple complex in the evening," the release stated on Thursday.

In the lead-up to the Ayodhya consecration ceremony on January 22, just days away, Modi has been visiting temples associated with Lord Ram during his official state visits. Over the past week, while unveiling developmental projects or engaging in party activities in different states, the focus of the messaging has been linked to Lord Ram.

On Wednesday, amid the ongoing 11-day rituals leading to the inauguration, the PM offered prayers at the Lord Krishna Temple in Guruvayur town, Thrissur district, where he also attended the wedding of actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi's daughter.

Importance of these temples in Tamil Nadu

-The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, situated in Srirangam, Trichy, stands among the oldest temple complexes in the country. Referenced in ancient texts like the Puranas and Sangam era texts, it is renowned for its architectural magnificence and multiple iconic gopurams. The philosopher and saint, Sri Ramanujacharya, have strong connections to the history of this temple. Within this temple complex, several significant locations hold importance. The renowned Tamil poet Kamban publicly presented the famous Kamba Ramayanam at a specific site within this sacred precinct.

-The Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameshwaram venerates the principal deity Sri Ramanathaswamy, a manifestation of Lord Shiva. A widespread belief holds that the main lingam in this temple was consecrated and worshipped by Lord Rama and Goddess Sita.

-The Kothandaramaswamy Temple in Dhanushkodi is dedicated to Sri Kothandarama Swamy, signifying Rama with the bow. Positioned in Dhanushkodi, it is said to be the site where Vibhishana sought refuge from Lord Rama. According to some legends, it is also where Sri Rama conducted the coronation of Vibhishana.

Pm modi to visit punjab in may end for campaigning.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Punjab the next month, adding a palpable buzz to the state's political arena, signaling a pivotal moment as preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections gather steam. With the elections slated for June 1 in Punjab, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is revving up its campaign machinery, with the Prime Minister's presence, sometime in May end, set to inject renewed vigour into their electoral strategy in the State where the saffron brigade is struggling amidst the farmers’ protest. Also, it is for the first time, after 1966, that the saffron party is entering the poll arena without any alliance.

Preparing for the same, Punjab Government has also issued letters to all department heads, Deputy Commissioners, and police officers regarding security arrangements instructing the officials concerned to ensure compliance with regulations regarding the PM’s security arrangements and to ensure that preparations are completed on time.

The, issued by the General Administration Department’s protocol branch, emphasized the importance of stringent security measures. The directives also underscored the need for meticulous adherence to security protocols to ensure the Prime Minister's safety during his engagements in the State.

Security arrangements are expected to encompass a range of logistical considerations, including the deployment of barricades, provision of adequate parking facilities, and the establishment of designated helipads. With the elections drawing near, officials concerned have been instructed to expedite their preparations to meet the stringent security requirements outlined by the authorities.

The Prime Minister's visit holds particular significance against the backdrop of the electoral landscape in Punjab, where political parties are intensifying their campaigning efforts. Elections in Punjab will be held in the last and final phase.

In parallel, the Congress party’s national leaders are poised to commence their campaign visits to Punjab from the next month, adding to the fervour of political activity in the region. With both parties having announced their candidates for a significant number of seats, the stage is set for a spirited electoral contest in Punjab.

Amidst the preparations, the BJP had earlier appealed to the Election Commission regarding security arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit. The appeal underscored the complexities involved in coordinating with multiple security agencies and emphasized the need for seamless coordination between political party managers and security personnel.

Reflecting on past incidents, concerns regarding security lapses during high-profile visits have come to the fore. Notably, during Prime Minister Modi’s previous visit to Hussainiwala in January 2022, demonstrators obstructed his route, resulting in a delay in his convoy’s progression.

In response to the BJP's appeal, the Election Commission has also issued directives to the Punjab government, emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures to safeguard the Prime Minister during his upcoming visit. The directives underscored the shared responsibility of state and district authorities in ensuring comprehensive security arrangements for the Prime Minister's engagements, including meetings, roadshows, and rallies.

As preparations intensify and political activity gains momentum, all eyes are on Punjab as it braces for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Prime Minister’s visit is poised to inject further dynamism into the electoral landscape, setting the stage for a spirited contest as political parties vie for electoral supremacy in the State.

PM Modi Rajasthan Visit:

Modi accused of hate speech for calling Muslims 'infiltrators' at a rally days into India's election

COP28 In Dubai High Level Segment

NEW DELHI — India ’s main opposition party is accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of hate speech after he called Muslims “infiltrators” and used some of his most incendiary rhetoric to date about the minority faith in an election rally days after the country began its weekslong general election .

At the rally on Sunday in the western state of Rajasthan, Modi said that when the Congress party was in government, “they said Muslims have the first right over the country’s resources.” If it returns to power, the party “will gather all your wealth and distribute it among those who have more children,” he said as the crowd applauded.

“They will distribute it among infiltrators,” he continued, saying, “Do you think your hard-earned money should be given to infiltrators?”

Abhishek Manu Singhvi, a spokesperson for Congress, called the prime minister’s remarks “deeply, deeply objectionable” and said the party on Monday had sought action from the Election Commission of India, which oversees the six-week voting period, which began Friday.

The remarks drew fierce criticism for peddling anti-Muslim tropes, and for breaking election rules that bar candidates from engaging in any activity that aggravates religious tensions. The Election Commission of India’s model code of conduct forbids candidates to “appeal to caste or communal feelings” to secure votes.

Asaduddin Owaidi, a Muslim lawmaker and president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen party, said on Sunday: “Modi today called Muslims infiltrators and people with many children. Since 2002 till this day, the only Modi guarantee has been to abuse Muslims and get votes.”

Critics of Modi, an avowed Hindu nationalist, say India’s tradition of diversity and secularism has come under attack since his party won power in 2014 and returned for a second term in 2019. They accuse Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party of fostering religious intolerance and sometimes even violence. The party denies the accusation and says its policies benefit all Indians.

But rights groups say that attacks against minorities have become more brazen under Modi. Scores of Muslims have been lynched by Hindu mobs over allegations of eating beef or smuggling cows, an animal considered holy to Hindus. Muslim businesses have been boycotted, their homes and businesses have been bulldozed and places of worship set on fire. Some open calls have been made for their genocide .

Modi’s remarks on Sunday were based on a 2006 statement by then-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of the Congress party. Singh said that India’s lower castes, tribes, women and, “in particular the Muslim minority” were empowered to share in the country’s development equally.

“They must have the first claim on resources,” Singh had said. A day later, his office clarified that Singh was referring to all of the disadvantaged groups.

Modi and his party are expected to win the election, according to most surveys. The results come out on June 4.

The Congress party’s president, Mallikarjun Kharge, described Modi’s comments as “hate speech.” “In the history of India, no prime minister has lowered the dignity of his post as much as Modi has,” Kharge wrote on social media platform X.

In its petition to the election commission, the party said that Modi and the BJP have repeatedly used religion, religious symbols and sentiments in their election campaign with impunity. “These actions have been further bolstered by the commission’s inaction in penalizing the prime minister and the BJP for their blatant violations of electoral laws,” it said.

The commission’s code of conduct is not legally binding on its own, but it can issue notices and suspend campaigners for a certain amount of time over violations.

“We decline comment,” a spokesperson for the commission told the Press Trust of India news agency on Monday.

In his speech, Modi also referred to a Hindu nationalist myth that Muslims were overtaking the Hindu population by having more children. Hindus make up 80% of India’s 1.4 billion population, while the country’s 200 million Muslims make up 14%. Official data shows that fertility rates among Muslims have dropped the fastest among religious groups in recent decades, from 4.4 in 1992-93 to 2.3 between 2019-21, just a bit higher than Hindus at 1.94.

Modi’s BJP has previously referred to Muslims as infiltrators and cast them as illegal migrants who crossed into India from Bangladesh and Pakistan. Several states run by the BJP have also made laws that restrict interfaith marriage, citing the myth of “love jihad,” an unproven conspiracy theory used by Hindu hard-line groups to accuse Muslim men of converting Hindu women by marriage.

Through it all, Modi has maintained a conspicuous silence, which critics say has emboldened some of his most extreme supporters and enabled more hate speech against Muslims.
