Good thing I didn't see these reviews before booking! But before you go slamming the business maybe do a bit more research... there's a couple of bus tour companies around San Francisco and I'm sure they have different styles of operating depending on staffing. The first time to San Fran with the family we didn't get a chance to do everything we wanted to. After hearing from a client that they had a great time, I thought why not check it out. They mentioned there was a Groupon and the price was good. The entire tour around the city lasted about 2 hours. You are able to hop on/hop off at any stop throughout the day. We stayed on the same bus the entire time with no stops and that seemed to be the big difference with the not so great reviews. Although you're able to hop on/off, they do mention to be back at the spot around the 45 minute mark. Unsure how many busses are running but I would think that's not a lot of time with all the hills and walking that needs to be done... so for others to complain that the bus took too long to come back, I can see how it does waste time in the day but I think in this setting there needs to be more chill in the schedule. We tried to rush San Fran in a day and there really just wasn't enough time. So don't think about booking this bus if you're short on time and want to take advantage of the hop on/hop off because there isn't one that runs every 15 minutes like some others. Our guide on the mic was very entertaining. She had a great attitude even when there was someone on the bus challenging her info. Like she said, you wanna be right or do you wanna be happy? Just go with it, it's not a museum or a place to fact check. She's there to keep you entertained, geez. Before hopping on the bus we followed the map on the website to redeem our tickets and use the restroom (near fisherman's wharf). When we got to the bus she was out there getting business! Nice hustle, and would've worked if we didn't already have our pass. I wanted to see as much of the city as I could. Decided to sit up top with no roof, how fun! That cold wind on the bridge was no joke. The views were spectacular. We stopped at the view point for about 15 minutes. You can take pics, use the restroom or buy a hot dog from carts there. Even though we didn't get off at any stop, I would say you can reach a good amount of the city's focal points with this bus tour. We went through Pier 39/Fishermans Wharf, Chinatown, TL, North Beach, Alamo Square (close to the painted ladies), Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street... the map shows 21 stops, I wasn't counting lol. For the price, especially the Groupon price, it was great! Going around San Fran this way as a tourist was perfect. Not having to drive from spot to spot, pay parking at each location as well as looking for parking. Being able to sightsee as we are going around the city from a higher POV. Also meeting new people from around the world. I would definitely do San Fran like this again. I can totally see why people fall in love with this city!
Top of a double decker with the top off in 52° drizzle going over the Golden Gate Bridge was Def a diff experience! Hold onto your hats!
No idea what everyone was looking at... I was worried about my lashes flying off LOL!
if I could give 10 stars I would!! this was the best part of my trip my tour guide was Chino and his dog. His sense of humor is out of this world!! He made us love being on the bus and really truly understand the locals and how they really live. Letting us know that SF is and will always be the heart and soul of American culture. Incredibly happy I chose him to be my guide. Please request chino whenever you are going on the BUS TOUR DELUXE. Love the Brazilian American Clara 4/27 Love you Chino!!
This tour was a once and a lifetime experience for my family and I. Huge shoutout to Chino and Saggy! Literally the absolute best experience my brother, niece and my girls could ask for. We also got kisses and lovins from Saggy(the bulldog)! I lmao almost the entire trip. Chino was an outstanding tour guide and driver. The London bus was also amazing! Old and a lot of character!
Our lovely tour guide/driver and his co pilot! Saggy and Chino!
My daughter and I enjoyed our experience. It was mainly due to our driver Chino and his famous skateboarding dog Saggy. The live narrated tour made it for us. Chino was very entertaining. I'm surprised to read the negative reviews here. To be honest, we didn't take advantage of the hop on/hop off feature due to time restraints and being on the last bus of the day. We just did the 2 hr, 21 stop tour in its entirety. The Big Bus company is their competitor. We saw many of their busses, but they looked uncomfortably full of people. Ours had plenty of passengers, but wasn't crowded. Check Groupon for discounts, but know that you may have to push the bus up the steep hills since you paid less(a joke made by Chino).
Saggy, the famous skateboarding dog and Chino's best buddy.
"Hop on, Hop Off " was such a joke. Unpredictable departure times, full (janky) busses, routes that didn't match the maps they gave out. We spent over $100 on this company and had to Uber to where we needed to go. Avoid at all costs!
The only reason I'm giving this a 1, is one of the drivers was really amazing and you have to rate it. First, we had to wait over an hour because busses were filled, when your an vacation time is everything and you buy this because it's a hop on/ hop off not expecting to be told no because the bus is filled. Flipping horrible. So instead of using the hop on / hop off we took a bus to our next attraction and didn't ride again. So what a waste of money, try contacting someone and no answer and the mail box is filled. I will be contacting the city of sf and complaining. This isn't right that you pay for a service and they can't even follow through.
We purchased two 2-day tickets at the Union Square stop late on Sunday morning for the discounted price of $55 each. Since it was already Sunday afternoon, the vendor validated the tickets to include Tuesday so we received more than 48 hours of hop-on, hop-off service. Pros: (1) if this is your first time to San Francisco, staying on this bus for the full circuit (about 2 hours) will give you a good sense of many of the top attractions in the city including, but not limited to, Union Square, Chinatown, the Financial District, Little Italy, Telegraph Hill, Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park, the Painted Ladies, and more. (2) the highlight for us was driving over the Golden Gate Bridge in each direction -- hang on to your hats! it's quite windy! (3) all staff that we interacted with over 2+ days were great -- including 4 drivers, 1 narrator, woman who sold us the tickers at Union Square, and staff in Fisherman's Wharf. A special shout out to Willy, who was both an excellent driver and a narrator, and genuinely seemed to want to entertain his passengers while also ensuring their safety. Unfortunately, these positive points were far outweighed by the negative. (1) For a business that advertises itself as "hop-on, hop-off", there was too much of (an unpredictable) wait between busses. Generally, one could expect a bus every hour but we had one instance in which we waited 1 hour and 20 minutes. This seriously constrains the number of stops that one could make in a day. (2) Narration, and the announcing of stops, was inconsistent. We had one segment that had a very good narrator. More frequently, the bus driver also served as the narrator. In some cases, there was no narration at all. (For instance, the morning segment from Union Station to Fisherman's Wharf). Narration was only in English. (3) Delays resulting from consolidating passengers from different busses. For instance, passengers who boarded at Union Station were transported to Fisherman's Wharf, and had to transfer to another bus that was supposed to leave 30 minutes later but ultimately left 40 minutes later as they waited for yet another bus to consolidate passengers from. (4) Fleet of busses is on the older side. In one instance, we were informed that our bus was late because our driver asked that an earlier one that he had been driving to be replaced because it was experiencing mechanical issues (kudos though to the driver and the company for taking it back to the shop). Finally, it should be noted that there is a competitor -- that charges more, but we saw much more frequently at many of the same stops. They also offer an app so you can check the whereabouts of the next bus.
One of the busses.
I've been on this tour twice now with Chino and Saggy. Couldn't recommend a better tour guide! Would 100% recommend them to anyone who loves to learn about the history of San Francisco and enjoy an afternoon seeing all of the beautiful sites.
All this reviews on here spooked us. We purchased our tickets on our way to Alcatraz tours, the gentleman offered us a great deal for our family. We were on our way to board and didn't see the reviews ( glad we didn't) or we wouldn't of bought them. We bought our tickets for the next day. We got to the resort looked up the bus company and read the reviews, we were expecting the worse. Most reviews are bad, we were prepared to buy another company bus tickets. We went to the bus area, on fisherman wharf stop, hesitant about the reviews, the young lady right away greeted us, welcoming us, we were glad our great deal wasn't a fraud. We asked for the restroom and she directed us to the office, very clean restroom area. We boarded the bus and waited only a few minutes to start our tour. The lady was amazing from start to finish. Very informative with fun facts and details of local stops, we loved it. It was a very cold day, we dressed warm but we're still very cold, on our stop at golden gate we switched to the bottom of the bus, we're it was warm. We loved our tour. Great deal, my family of four had a amazing time. Visited : December 2022 Wait time : 30-1 hour Reservation recommended :Yes Price :$40-50 Kid friendly: yes Our family Loved it. Highly recommend if you ever travel to San Francisco.. don't let the reviews on here stop you from taking this tour

Alcatraz Penitentiary was truly "The Rock," where America sent the worst of the worst criminals from 1934-1966.
Public enemies like Scarface Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly, Creepy Karpis, and the Birdman (Robert Stroud) all learned this first hand. People on the outside have always been fascinated with Alcatraz. Visitors peered at Alcatraz through telescopes when the prisoners were there, and ever since it was opened to tours, thousands of visitors have come every year.

Must See & Do in San Francisco
Take the san francisco city tour.
Look for SF city tours that offer more stops and visit more than the most known landmarks in San Francisco. We recommend the SF Premium City Tour with Ferry!
Visit the Wine Country - Don't drive your first time!
We don't recommend drinking and driving thus, we don't recommend renting a car to go to Napa or Sonoma. Go on a bus tour from San Francisco that visits great wineries and has lots of variety during the tour.
Don't Miss The Redwoods - Go to Muir Woods!
So many people come to San Francisco and fail to visit the Giant California Sequioa Coastal Redwoods at Muir Woods National Park. We highly recommend this even over Alcatraz Island. Find a bus tour that uses smaller shuttles and visits other surrounding areas in Marin along with Muir Woods.
Go to Yosemite by Train instead of Car or Bus

So here my family and I were waiting in the rain waiting for a bus that would never come. We called them and a woman said “ we could go on big bus and get a refund”. - Dallit 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Fun and real character This is the kind of tour I appreciate. It had real character and not a dry talking point sheet. Probably mostly thanks to our driver, Chino, and his cute skater dog, Saggy. Chino is like SF itself, quirky, interesting, fun, warm, and can't be put into a box. He knew everyone around town, and shared little tidbits which I doubt we would've gotten in other tours. He's also FUNNY. We laughed a.lot. And did I mention you can drink on the bus? Well worth the trip! Recommended! Read more Written September 24, 2023

Animated metal band Dethklok brings tour with Babymetal to the Masonic for two nights
By Dave Pehling
Updated on: April 24, 2024 / 5:39 PM PDT / CBS San Francisco
The popular death metal band led by Brendan Small, the creative force behind popular Adult Swim animated show "Metalocalypse," Dethklok comes to the Masonic in San Francisco for two shows with co-headliners Babymetal.
Arguably the second most popular virtual band behind Gorillaz (the animated group helmed by Blur singer Damon Albarn), Dethklok made their as the stars of "Metalocalypse" when the show created by Small and partner/voice actor Tommy Blancha debuted in 2006. The world biggest death metal band in the program's absurd and surreal alternate universe, Dethklok stands as the planet's seventh largest economy despite the fact that the group's members are idiotic incompetents incapable of doing anything besides writing and performing brutal metal songs.
The quintet of singer Nathan Explosion (who was inspired by Cannibal Corpse vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher), guitarists Skwisgaar Skwigelf and Toki Wartooth, bassist William Murderface and drummer Pickles live and work in their massive fortress-like home and studio Mordhaus, venturing into the world to secure lucrative sponsorship deals and play huge concerts for their legions of fanatical followers with outlandish stage theatrics like over-the-top pyrotechnics, lasers and a giant swinging pendulum blade, inevitably resulting in widespread death and destruction.
Over the course of four seasons and a special broadcast on Adult Swim, "Metalocalypse" became one of the network's more popular shows and a favorite among musicians, with such notable figures as King Diamond, Alice Cooper, Jon Hamm, Werner Herzog, Jack Black and members of Metallica, Exodus, Emperor and Mastodon appearing on the show. Dethklok further built on its fanbase with a series of studio albums featuring the satirical songs featured the show like "Murmaider," "Bloodrocuted" and "Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle." The band also delivered entertaining live performances with widescreen clips of the animated band projected behind Small and his talented band including monster drummer Gene Hogland (Dark Angel, Death, Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Devin Townsend) and former Frank Zappa collaborator Mike Kenneally on guitar.
Dethklok would make regular festival appearances and tour with the likes of Mastodon, High On Fire, Machine Head and the Black Dahlia Murder. After the broadcast of the hour-long rock opera special, "Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem" in 2013, the band continued to perform, but the project went on hiatus after the show was cancelled two years later.
The band returned to action in 2019, playing the Adult Swim Festival to ecstatic crowds. Dethklok also returned to the festival post-pandemic in 2022. The following year, Smalls was at last able to release the final chapter in the Dethklok story with the film Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar , which was accompanied by both a soundtrack and the band issuing its acclaimed fourth studio recording, Dethalbum IV .
With the show having run its course, the band's current tour could be Dethklok's last hurrah as it takes to the road with previous touring partners and co-headliners Babymetal which stops at the Masonic for two nights starting Wednesday . A sensation in their native Japan since first forming in 2010, the group mixes elements of heavy metal with elements of J-Pop and "kawaii" -- the Japanese "culture of cuteness" as exemplified by Hello Kitty and Pokemon. Singer Suzuka Nakamoto had impressed producer Kobametal (aka Key Kobayashi) in her earlier girl groups Karen Girl's and Sakura Gakuin when he wanted to start a new band performing a heavier style of music.
Initially a successful offshoot of Sakura Gakuin, Babymetal became independent in 2013 and enjoyed growing popularity with the release of their self-titled debut the following year. Featuring Nakamoto along with fellow singers Moa Kikuchi (also a member of Sakura Gakuin) and Yui Mizuno executing synchronized dance moves and melodic vocals backed by a group of shredding metal session players known as the Kami Band, the album delivered a dizzying juxtaposition of sunshine pop and metallic crunch. The band rocketed to success in Japan and were playing sold-out shows to thousands when the girls were still in their teens.
The notoriety in their native land soon led to international touring in Europe and North America, with Babymetal appearing at major metal festivals and opening for Lady Gaga. By the time the band was set to release their sophomore album Metal Resistance in 2016, they were headlining Wembley Arena in London and the huge Tokyo Dome to 55,000 screaming fans. More high-profile support gigs with the Red Hot Chili Peppers followed.
While the band suffered some hardship with the accidental death of guitarist Mikio Fujioka late in 2017 after he fell from an observation deck and the departure of Mizuno due to health reasons the next year, Babymetal continued to tour and in 2023 announced the addition of Momoko Okazaki as Fujioka's permanent replacement. The band plays fan favorites and songs from its fourth album The Other One at the Masonic. Opening acts on the two nights will be different, with hyper-technical British power metal band DrangonForce playing Wednesday and theatrical LA-based melodic death metallers Nekrogoblikon kicking off the show Thursday.
Dethklok and Babymetal Wednesday-Thursday, April 24-25, 6 p.m. $75.75 The Masonic
