Carly (Splendour’s founder and lead guide) and her team of carefully selected local experts delight in curating unique, unscripted tours, providing memorable high-end luxury experiences of both the must-see sights of the Sydney, and the little-known gems that haven’t made it into the tourist guides yet.

With a central goal of connecting tourists with the places and the people they visit, Splendour Tailored Tours has a host of special guests ranging from local Indigenous elders, to top Sydney chefs, adding that extra something special to an already unforgettable itinerary.

Splendour Tailored Tours: An Authentic Aboriginal Experience

Get a glimpse into the world’s oldest continuous culture, as it is lived, not how you imagine it to be

A lot of people might be broadly aware of Australia’s Aboriginal history but the mistake is in considering it just that: history. The spiritual practices of our first peoples are still part of their daily lives in 2016, and through Splendour Tailored Tours you’ll get a glimpse into the world’s oldest continuous culture, as it is lived, not how you imagine it to be.

Prepare to get up early because you’ll be meeting Aboriginal elder Aunty Margaret Campbell under the pylons of the Harbour Bridge for a welcome to country and to acknowledge the ‘grandfather sun’. Aunty Marg’s stories will transport you a time and place before colonization, when people could watch the whales from the lookout that existed long before the bridge and bring their fish to the cooking fires built on the same sandstone they used as a foundation for Sydney.

Cross the harbour and visit an ancient rock carving that tells origin stories about the world and its people. If the stone carving of a whale can last 60,000 years, you can get through next week. Aunty Marg will teach you about traditional practices, from shaping canoes to making fishing nets, and about the modern responsibilities of the elders in today’s society. This is not a history lesson, it’s a snapshot of how we got here and where we’re going.

After a visit to the Botanic Gardens your adventure will end with lunch at the Gardener’s Lodge Café where you will feast on emu skewers, kangaroo burgers and crocodile salad (trust us, it’s delicious). The café is co-owned by another famed Sydney elder, Beryl Van-Oploo, who created the café as a place for her hospitality students to gain work skills. This is an all access pass to a culture that moves alongside Sydney’s metropolitan rhythms. Accessing historical artifacts and art from our First Peoples is relatively easy in Sydney thanks to permanent exhibits at the Australian Museum and the AGNSW , but a guided tour through the cultural practices of Aboriginal Australians is a rare privilege.

Great Day Trip to the Beautiful Southern Highlands

During our recent and very enjoyable "bucket list" tour of Australia a potential cyclone in the Great Barrier Reef area sent us back to Sydney a day earlier than planned. We contacted Splendour Tailored Tours at the last minute and were expertly accommodated with a superb day trip through the Southern Highlands. Visits to vineyards and art galleries were well planned, informative and enjoyable. Ben, our host, was very familiar with the area and most gracious.

What an amazing experience we had on our first trip to Sydney. We are typically "non-tours people", but we were beyond thrilled with Splendour Tailored Tours. Rebecca curated a delicious walking foodie tour that included 8 beers and pub food at the Tap Room, then a lovely stroll through the Botanical Gardens, a little stop for oysters and champagne at Mantra and a leisurely walk to Bistro Rex where we feasted on delicious charcuterie. Day two Dan took us on a drive through the Royal National Park where we stopped to see some of the most breathtaking views along the coast (Gairie Beach, Kiama Blow Hole and many others). We didn't go hungry that day either as he took us to one of his favorite places for coffee and pastries and on the way home, we had lunch at Scarborough Hotel which not only had delicious food, but a gorgeous view as well. What sets Splendour apart from other tour groups was the charm, friendliness and warmth of Rebecca and Dan. We had the most engaging conversations about everything, ranging from the history of Australia to current events and loved every minute. Thank you for making this short time in Sydney so special...we will be back!

First of all I have to say that the email communication with Splendour Tailored Tours (Kelly / Alana) was first class. We were travelling to Australia from the UK (via Thailand) in early January and ideally wanted to put our itinerary together before we left home. Our first contact with Splendour was towards the end of 2019. We originally had intended to visit the Blue Mountains however this area was off limits due to the horrendous bushfires at that time. Kelly / Alana offered us a trip to the Southern Highlands instead however we were informed that the Blue Mountains situation was going to be reviewed in early January. This being the case we held off booking anything until we arrived in Sydney. With the Blue Mountains still off limits in January, we ultimately booked our trip to the Southern Highlands, calling Alana just a few days before our trip to provide credit card details, etc. As I say, all the way through the process the communication from Splendour was excellent, answering our questions, providing information promptly, etc, etc. Come the big day (Thurs 16th Jan 2020), we were picked up from our hotel (opposite Hyde Park in Sydney) bang on time at 8am by our driver / guide (Matt). Matt was a very friendly guy and it was very enjoyable to meet him, chat with him along the way. He took us to many places within the Southern Highlands, stopping for picture opportunities wherever possible. We visited the Symbio Wildlife Park, where we were able to feed the kangaroos, and see other wildlife native to Australia. We stopped at a couple of lovely villages/small towns (one was Berrima) where we had coffee. The (several) stops for wine tasting which we had asked for were all excellent. We also had a lovely lunch at one of the wine tasting venues. The weather forecast for the day was a bit mixed to say the least, indeed we had a heavy shower early in the day. However as the day progressed the weather got better. The rain stopped, and although cloudy in the morning was still quite warm. Indeed in the afternoon, we managed to get some sun too. Like most trips, it is better to have a bright sunny day however even with our mixed weather we had an excellent time. As it turned out, the weather we had was better than the original forecast. We eventually got back to our hotel some eight hours later (might have been a little later than this thinking back). So much was packed into what was a great and memorable day. Our day was so enjoyable, so a big thank you to Kelly, Alana and, of course, Matt for making our trip to the Southern Highlands so wonderful. ps when we are back in NSW we will definitely be back in touch with Splendour Tailored Tours to see if we can get to the Blue Mountains as this is still on our wish list.

Our family spent a day in the Blue Mountains a few weeks ago, hiking in 3 different areas with Benedict (Ben). He was an energetic, friendly guide who had a great fund of knowledge of Australia in general, the various types of trees/plant life, and hiking sites in the Blue Mountains. He communicated well with our 11 year old, engaging our son easily. We did our first hike at Empress Falls, which was amazing to see. We stopped for morning tea with Aussie meat pies (delicious), and a casual perfect lunch place in Leura. Ben was very flexible as we needed to buy a jacket for my husband and he found a perfect shop for that. He knows the area very well, and kept us engaged the entire time. We would definitely recommend Splendour Tours for anyone who wants a great experience in the Blue Mountains! Thanks for a wonderful day!

Fantastic Foodie Tour

My father and I had a phenomenal foodie tour with Peta. The day included a visit to the seafood market, a trip to a funky cafe in Surrey Hill, a walk through the farmers’ market, a wine tasting with charcuterie, and dessert from a local bakery. Everything was customized to our preferences and expertly guided by Peta, who is an absolute love. If I ever have the chance to visit Sydney again, a tour with Peta would be high on my list of things to do!

Spent the day with our wonderful guide Rebecca, showing us the highlights of Sydney and offering very interesting and humorous commentary. Even though it rained, Bec made every attempt to tailor the tour to the day, visiting a beautiful historic site and gardens, The Rocks and getting us to our 57' Bateau sailboat "The Count" for our private tour of Sydney Harbor. What an amazing experience. Capt. Anthony, his wife and Adrian were the perfect hosts with a lovely seafood lunch and a chocolate mousse with berries that was awesome. Capt. Anthony did an outstanding job of pointing out Sydney's most interesting landmarks and offered some humorous stories as well. What a fantastic way to spend our afternoon in Sydney. A truly unique experience - not to be missed!

Outstanding custom foodie tour of Sydney. We visited neighborhoods and places we would have never seen. Outstanding!

To start off - we were greeted by the most incredible tour guide I have ever come across - Matt. This just put the tour in the best direction and it only got better from there. We spent the day kayaking and surfing and learning all about Sidney from Matt. We made a couple of last minute changes and Matt didn’t flinch - extremely accommodating. If you are looking for a professional, experienced and the best fun you could have - this is the tour company to call.

We took a private tour with Sladjana Hidosan and she was the absolute highlight of our time in NSW. She knew so much about the area and was extremely polite, willing to answer questions and also helpful with the rest of our trip throughout AUS. This all along with the fact that she took us to our new favorite restaurant in Manly that she could have easily skipped given it was one of her local spots, all made this the best day. The tour flew by even though it was 6 hours and I would do it all again just to hang with Sladj!

We were picked up by our guide, Peta and taken to the Botanical Gardens where we met Drew, an Aboriginal. He explained about the multi-use of plants incorporating some of them into delicious treats as well as the history of the Aboriginal people. Continued with Peta who was a wonderful guide to see great street art, enjoy a wonderful lunch and a general tour of the area.

Your informative and knowledgeable guide will collect you from your Sydney hotel as we commence our private journey of Sydney city and the Eastern Suburbs Region.

We begin in the Sydney old town (The Rocks) and CBD (Central Business District) for you to learn about the settling of Sydney, colonial convict history and the modern financially focussed skyscrapers. We visit Macquarie St, where some of Sydney’s most historic sites and buildings are located as well as Mrs Macquarie’s Chair for prime views of Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.

We journey around the southern shores, bays and coves of Sydney Harbour for breath-taking views over one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world. We take a break at Watsons Bay and The Gap at the entrance of Sydney Harbour – one of the most captivating Panoramic Views in Sydney. Here we offer a morning tea, coffee or hot chocolate with Tim Tams at this stunning harbour-side location.

Then travelling through Dover Heights, we move on to the famous Bondi Beach where guests can enjoy a stroll along the beach promenade and see bronzed Aussie lifesavers.

Returning to the city via Tamarama and Bronte beaches, Bondi Junction, Centennial Park, Paddington, Darlinghurst and China-Town we pause at Darling Harbour and Barangaroo, the newest urban and entertainment area on the western edge of the city of Sydney.

Next, we drive past the restored finger wharves of Walsh Bay and, driving directly underneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge, we finish the tour back in old town of The Rocks near Circular Quay.

Please check the  Transport NSW website  for the latest advice and information on travel and COVID-19 safety measures. You can catch public transport (bus, train, ferry) to Circular Quay and enjoy a six min walk to the Opera House.

The health and wellbeing of everyone attending the Opera House is our top priority. We’re committed to making your experience safe, comfortable and enjoyable, with a number of measures in place including regular cleaning of high-touch areas, air conditioning systems that maximise ventilation, and hand sanitiser stations positioned in all paths of travel. We remind our audiences and visitors to please stay home if you feel unwell. Your ticket includes a premium beverage package and all night grazing from a roving feast of canapés and food stations. Menus are yet to confirmed; however, we will be ensuring that all dietaries are catered for on the night.  If guests have any serious allergies, it is important to note that we are a working kitchen and cannot guarantee the absence of all allergens. We recommend brining your own EpiPen should you need.

The Weeknd’s postponed tour of Australia is now canceled and ticket owners will be refunded.

The Canadian R&B superstar had initially scheduled an 11-date stadium tour of Australia and New Zealand, winding its way across both countries last November and December.

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled,” reads a statement from LN, seen by Billboard . “Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled with all ticket holders receiving a full refund accordingly.”

Ticket holders of the The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced, the message reads, linking to a priority waitlist . All current ticket holders will receive an automatic refund.

The tour was originally announced last August with just four shows, visiting each of Australia’s big three east coast cities — Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane — and including a single date in Auckland, NZ.

Additional dates were added last September , boosting the itinerary to 11 across both markets.

The Weeknd’s tour is scrapped as Australia’s festivals market navigates turbulent waters. In recent weeks, the 2024 editions of Splendour in the Grass, Mona Foma, and Groovin The Moo, with soft ticket sales playing a part in each story.

The inaugural Soundcheck report, published by Creative Australia, found the climate for operating a festival was a “highly complex” one, with event organizers challenged with myriad issues, from rapidly increasing costs, changing ticket buying behavior and more.

In the U.S., he has landed seven No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 and four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

On Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart, published last Friday, April 19 , the Weeknd’s hits collection The Highlights lifts 8-4 in its 167th week on the tally. It’s triple-platinum certified in Australia.
