Sri Lanka Tours & Vacations

Woman in red dress standing next to a tuk tuk taxi in Sri Lankan street

Pristine rainforest. Ancient rock fortresses. Wildlife aplenty. And some of the most perfect beaches on the planet. There are so many reasons to visit Sri Lanka.

One day you could be hiking the Knuckles Mountain Range, high in Sri Lanka’s hill country; the next, traveling by train through tea plantations and into the mountains. And when you start each morning with curry, hoppers, and a cup of local tea , you   know   it’s going to be a good day. Climb Lion Rock, a dramatic carved-rock fortress in Sigiriya, and explore Jaffna in the island’s north, previously off-limits to travelers. The only struggle you’ll have in   Sri Lanka   is knowing where to start.

Best time to visit sri lanka.

Sri Lanka is blessed with a tropical climate, with temperatures remaining in the high 70Fs throughout most of the year. To soak up some sunshine, be sure to come during the dry seasons (June - August and December – March). The rest of the time it's the monsoon season, so expect rain during this time. Read more about the best time to visit Sri Lanka.

Culture and customs

As an important stop on ancient trade routes, there’s a great mix of cultural influences present in modern-day Sri Lanka. The majority of Sri Lankans are Sinhalese Buddhists, followed by Tamils (who are mostly Hindu) and a small amount of Christians and Muslims. Various religious festivals and holy times are celebrated regularly in Sri Lanka, from large nationwide holidays to local village celebrations. As a fairly conservative nation, most locals dress modestly and displays of affection are not considered appropriate in public.

The influence of the British is still evident in Sri Lanka’s culture, cuisine, and buildings. Drinking tea and playing cricket are the most obvious remnants of British colonial rule, although you’ll also find country cottages dotted throughout some rural regions with some serving traditional English fare like roast chicken and beef. Travelers will find that most Sri Lankans, despite having little, are quick to share their food and friendship. Known for being hospitable, generous, and kind, when being offered tea or food in someone’s home, it is considered impolite to decline.

Eating and drinking

Intrepid believes that one of the best ways to experience a country is by eating! Whether you're sampling street food, savoring a cheap eat, or indulging in a banquet, there are endless options to choose from wherever you are in the world.

Things to try in Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan curries are among the hottest in the world, but don’t let that put you off. Fragrant, coconut-based curries packed with chili, garlic, turmeric, and coriander will give your tastebuds a treat.

Being an island, Sri Lanka has access to an amazing array of seafood. Feast on fresh crab, swordfish, lobster, and squid - or choose a fiery seafood-based curry.

These egg-filled crepe-like wonders can usually be found at breakfast buffets. Usually made from rice flour and coconut milk batter, they are a Sri Lankan twist on the traditional pancake.

With miles of tea plantations, Sri Lankans have grown accustomed to drinking their popular home-grown cash crop. Tea is served with milk and sugar almost everywhere in Sri Lanka, mainly at breakfast and during the day.

Geography and environment

Situated in the Indian Ocean, the island of Sri Lanka lies just under the Indian subcontinent, to the southwest of the Bay of Bengal. Much of Sri Lanka receives a high level of rainfall during the monsoon season, with the dry northern areas being the exception. Due to the high level of rainfall, tropical evergreen forest proliferates around the country. Despite extensive land clearing for agriculture, there are still pockets of national parks and biosphere reserves around the country that hold much flora and fauna, including herds of wild elephants, deer, and a wide range of birds. Sri Lanka’s remaining forests and protected areas are rich in biological diversity and remain popular with tourists looking for wildlife and adventure.

Sri Lanka’s main cities are typically built up, busy, and increasingly becoming more multicultural and cosmopolitan. In comparison to Sri Lanka’s fast-paced, city-dwelling residents, many Sri Lankans still live in villages with simple housing and work predominantly in the agriculture and fishing industries.

History and government

Early history.

Sri Lanka was occupied by hunter-gatherers for thousands of years before the arrival of Sinhalese tribal groups in the 6th century BC. Buddhism arrived on the island sometime during the 3rd century BC and as a result, the city of Anuradhapura became the capital and center of Buddhism. This Buddhist Kingdom endured years of Tamil raids until Anuradhapura was abandoned in favor of Polonnaruwa in the south. By the 12th century, Tamil rulers had a permanent presence in the north, where Hinduism still flourishes today.

The harbors of the south soon became important trading centers for Arab traders but by the 16th century a new wave of foreign influence began with the arrival of the Portuguese, then the Dutch. Sri Lanka’s wealth of cinnamon and geographic trading advantage appealed to the Portuguese, who slowly took over the island until the Dutch drove them out in the early 17th century. Remnants of this time can still be found in modern-day Sri Lanka, with colonial forts, cannons, and other ruins dotted throughout the country, especially along the coast. By 1795, the British arrived and captured the island from the Dutch. Sugar, coffee, tea, and rubber plantations were soon established by the British, along with Western schools, churches, and colleges.

Recent history

Sri Lanka (Ceylon) was officially granted its independence in 1948 but continued to maintain relatively good relations with the British. By 1960, Ceylon had the world’s first female prime minister and in 1972, the name Ceylon was replaced with Sri Lanka, which had just become a republic (but remained a member of the Commonwealth). These changes in government and moves towards independence were largely Sinhalese-centric, which created some tension with parts of the Tamil population.

From 1983 to 2009 Sri Lanka endured an intermittent civil war, which resulted in some displacement of people and human rights violations. More recently, parts of Sri Lanka were devastated by the 2004 tsunami, yet Sri Lanka has rebounded with an increasingly stable economy based on agriculture, tourism, and telecommunications. With one of the best-performing stock exchanges in the world, Sri Lanka has emerged from conflict, natural disasters, and colonization to become a rising tourist and economic hotspot.

Top 10 spiritual spots in Sri Lanka

1. bodhi tree.

Located at the ancient site of Anuradhapura, this sacred fig tree is said to have grown from a sapling of the Bodhi Tree that Buddha was sitting under when he became enlightened. This holy spot has long been a pilgrimage site for Sri Lankans and is now becoming a place of spiritual interest for visitors too.

2. Dewatagaha Mosque

One of the oldest mosques in Sri Lanka, this prayer place for worshippers of Islam has stood in Colombo for hundreds of years. The striking domes and minarets stand out in the Colombo skyline and provide a spiritual epicenter for Sri Lanka’s Muslims.

3. Temple of the Tooth

This Buddhist temple, located in Kandy, is named for the holy relic (said to be Buddha’s tooth) that is housed inside. It's a World Heritage site that has survived bombings and the ravages of time - visit here to see worshippers deep in prayer under the elaborate golden roof.

4. Dambulla Cave Temple

This well-preserved series of cave temples is brimming with paintings and statues that date all the way back to the 1st century. With colorful depictions of Buddha, Sri Lankan kings, and various Hindu gods and goddesses, this is one of the most elaborate cave complexes in Asia.

5. Adam’s Peak

Sacred to Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, and Muslims, Adam’s Peak is arguably Sri Lanka’s most popular pilgrimage spot. Surrounded by wildlife reserves, the walking trail leading to the mountain is a stunning walk regardless of religious persuasion. Watching a stirring sunrise from the holy summit is nothing short of magnificent.

6. Polonnaruwa Ruins

These impressive ruins of an ancient kingdom are home to massive palaces, huge statues, imposing temples, and an artificial lake. Although historically and culturally important, witnessing orange-robed monks praying at Gal Vihara (a Buddhist rock temple) is a spiritual moment you won’t soon forget.

7. Sigiriya (Lion’s Rock)

This magnificent UNESCO World Heritage site was once a mountain monastery many centuries ago. The rock inscriptions, paintings, and ancient ‘graffiti’ show insight into the lives of the monks who lived within the caves and grottoes before King Kasyapa took to the throne and established a capital there.

8. Anuradhapura

The ancient ruins of Anuradhapura are a significant holy place for Sri Lanka Buddhists. As one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, there are many monasteries surrounding this area of supreme veneration.

9. Munneswaram Temple

This elaborate Hindu temple complex is known for its vibrant festivals in celebration of Navaratri and Sivaratri. During this time, the complex is filled with the buzz of devotees who come to attend daily pujas and bathe in the nearby holy river.

10. Mihintale

If you choose to climb the thousand or so steps to the top of Mihintale’s hill, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views and a deeper understanding of Buddhism, as this is the site where Buddhism is said to have originated in Sri Lanka.

Known for its fragrant spices, vibrant fabrics, stunning silver jewelry, and one-of-a-kind antiques, it’s difficult to leave Sri Lanka without a backpack full of mementos. From far-flung rural marketplaces to the boutiques and galleries of Galle and Colombo, shopping in Sri Lanka has something for everyone at a relatively low cost.

It's a good idea to check with your local customs officials to ensure that you are able to bring certain items back into your home country. Australia and New Zealand generally have strict quarantine laws.

Things to buy in Sri Lanka

1. Handicrafts

Although available all over the country, Kandy is one of the best places to buy locally-made handicrafts. Choose from handmade brass and silver jewelry, vibrant fabric bags and scarves, and batik wall hangings.

Home to a multitude of plantations and spice gardens, it’s no wonder some of the world’s best spices come from Sri Lanka. Perhaps buy some saffron, cloves, cinnamon, turmeric, and cardamom to take home a taste of Sri Lanka with you.

3. Gem stones

If you’re after a low-cost gemstone, Sri Lanka is a top place to pick up a stone at a great price. Birthstones are popular, as are girls' best friends – diamonds! As always, buy from a licensed gem store to guarantee authenticity.

Festivals and events

Vesak festival.

People all over Sri Lanka commemorate Buddha’s birthday by visiting temples, giving alms, and singing devotional songs. Simple, luminous paper lanterns are hung outside homes and food is freely distributed to the public via roadside stalls.

While traveling through Sri Lanka as an LGBTQIA+ is not necessarily dangerous, same-sex sexual activity is still illegal, and we advise that travelers are discreet in public.

Is Sri Lanka accessible for travelers with disabilities?

Intrepid is committed to making travel widely accessible, regardless of ability or disability. That’s why we do our best to help as many people see the world as possible, regardless of any physical or mental limitations they might have. We’re always happy to talk to travelers with disabilities and see if we can help guide them toward the most suitable itinerary for their needs and, where possible, make reasonable adjustments to our itineraries.

Travelers with disabilities will likely find it difficult to travel around Sri Lanka. Public transport has not been adapted for those with mobility, visual or auditory limitations, and pavements and roads are often in poor condition. Accommodation, too, is unlikely to be accessible for those in wheelchairs, except perhaps in top-end hotels.

If you do live with a visual, hearing, or other impairment, let your booking agent or group leader know early on so they’re aware and suitable arrangements can be made. As a general rule, knowing some common words in the local language, carrying a written itinerary with you, and taking to the streets in a group, rather than solo, can help make your travel experience the best it can be.

What kind of transport will I use in Sri Lanka?

Intrepid believes half the fun of experiencing a new country is getting there, and getting around once there! Where possible, Intrepid uses local transport options and traditional modes of transport - which usually carry less of an environmental impact, support small local operators and are heaps more fun.

Hire a bike and pedal around ancient cities full of fascinating ruins for a fun and interactive way to learn about Sri Lanka’s deep history.

Experience some of the world's most beautiful train journeys in the hill country of Sri Lanka.

Tuk Tuks are the best and cheapest way to make your way around Sri Lanka's towns and cities.

Jump in a jeep for a wildlife safari in Sri Lanka's national parks.

What to wear in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is warm. Sri Lanka is very warm. Sri Lanka will have you sweating unless you’re up visiting the tea plantations in the hills, so light, breathable clothing is essential. Whatever you do, don’t wear any clothing depicting the Buddha – this can get you arrested, as can having a Buddha tattoo.

Does my trip to Sri Lanka support The Intrepid Foundation?

Yes, all Intrepid trips support the Intrepid Foundation. In fact, we make a donation on behalf of every traveler. Trips to Sri Lanka directly support our foundation partner, Zero Plastic.

Zero Plastic aims to reduce plastic waste in Sri Lankan communities through education and volunteer programs. Donations from our trips help them raise awareness for the impact of plastic on the environment and local wildlife and reduce plastic pollution at the UNESCO-listed Sigiriya (and surrounding communities).

Intrepid will double the impact by dollar-matching all post-trip donations made to The Intrepid Foundation.

Do I need to purchase travel insurance before traveling?

Absolutely. All passengers traveling with Intrepid are required to purchase travel insurance before the start of their trip. Your travel insurance details will be recorded by your leader on the first day of the trip. Due to the varying nature, availability and cost of health care around the world, travel insurance is very much an essential and necessary part of every journey.

Why Sri Lanka?

Welcome to the truly unique paradise island of Sri Lanka - a beautiful tropical oasis situated off the coast of India and fast becoming a TruTravels favourite. Sri Lanka is home to friendly locals and many millions more incredible animals. Despite being nearly four times smaller than the UK, Sri Lanka packs a punch of lush jungles teeming with life, stunning tropical beaches on all sides, ancient temples to explore, delicious food to absolutely demolish and a truly fascinating history. 2009 marked the end of Sri Lanka's long-standing civil war. Since then it's popularity has skyrocketed, quickly becoming one of the hottest destinations for backpackers and adventure travellers in Asia. You'll take in the unique and scarcely believable Sigiriya Rock Fortress, check out the pictures and no, they aren't Photoshopped! Enjoy the world's best train ride (probably) from Kandy to Ella. Meet Sri Lanka 's more exotic residents including monkeys, elephants and if you're lucky, leopards on a jungle safari in Unawatuna. Sri Lanka is perfect for travellers who love nature, cultural experiences , telling stories off the beaten path and making memories not easily forgotten.

sri lanka upcoming tours

Tags such as “Paradise Island” and “Pearl of the Indian Ocean” associate with a country for a good reason! But yes, you will need to visit Sri Lanka yourself to know why the island nation is given attractive nicknames such as these.  Read this travel guide for some inspiration and some getting to know one of the most gorgeous countries in the world!

Formerly known as ‘Ceylon’, whether you have 1, 2 or 3 weeks to tour Sri Lanka, there are a wide range of activities and attractions that you can cover. Blue Lanka Tours presents you with an all-new travel guide for basic information about travelling to Sri Lanka, some of the must-visit destinations and what to expect during you Sri Lanka tour.

  • General Information
  • How to Get to Sri Lanka?
  • Visa Requirements
  • Why go to Sri Lanka?
  • What to Expect in Sri Lanka?

Where to start in Sri Lanka?

Transport in sri lanka, top places to visit in sri lanka, accommodation in sri lanka, general information – sri lanka.

The Capital city of Sri Lanka is Colombo, and other main cities include Kandy, Galle, Trincomalee and Jaffna. The Sri Lankan Rupee is the currency you will be using and the national languages are Sinhalese and Tamil, though you can get around easily by conversing in English. The country has a population of 22 million, and an area of 65’610 square kilometers. The common electricity voltage used across the country is 230 Voltz at 50Hz. If your appliances are 110 Volt, be sure to use a voltage adaptor in order to avoid burning out the cables. The electricity sockets are usually type D (three round pins) or type G (three rectangular pins). A travel adaptor will fit the purpose of different sockets being used for your devices.

How to get to Sri Lanka

By air is the only way to get to Sri Lanka. Direct flights are available from several popular destinations such as London, Paris, Frankfurt, Dubai, Doha, Kuwait, Oman, Dammam, Jakarta, Karachi, Lahore, Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, Guanghzou, Seoul, Shanghai, Male, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, Dhaka, Kaula Lumpur and more.

The main airport that offers most of the flight connections is Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake. Colombo, Jaffna, Hambantota and Batticaloa are destinations where international airports are present but offer very restricted flight options and poor road connections.

Visa Requirements for Sri Lanka

To enter Sri Lanka, visas can be obtained in advance via the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system by going through the following link: https://eta.gov.lk/slvisa/

The ETA is initially valid for 30 days but can be extended for up to 6 months. A 2-day transit visa is given free for all applicants. Apart from that, the visa fees vary from $20-$55 depending on the purpose of your visit, duration of visa and number of entries required. If you are unable to obtain the ETA in advance, visa on arrival is possible at the airport. At present, citizens of Singapore, Maldives and Seychelles are exempted from obtaining an ETA/visa to visit Sri Lanka.

Why visit Sri Lanka?

From a very rough past, Sri Lanka has rapidly developed over the last decade, giving the country a fresh start and making it easily accessible to tourists from across the world. From perfect surf breaks to pristine beaches aligned with coconut palms, scenic hill country, wide variety of wildlife, and its rich historical culture, the fame is for good reason indeed! Not to forget the warm smiles and delicious food! The people of Sri Lanka have been classified by tourists as the friendliest you will come across in most of your travels.

What to expect in Sri Lanka?

If you are travelling to Sri Lanka for the first time, you probably may not know what to expect. There are several things that are different to a standard situation in your home county. However, to put it simply, there are two main things you need to know about in Sri Lanka.

The weather – being a tropical country located on the lines of the equator, high levels of humidity, frequent monsoon rains, and thunderstorms are common in all random parts of Sri Lanka. If you are particular about which coast you’d like to spend most time on, study the monsoons and pick the right time to go to Sri Lanka. From December to April is the peak season for the south and west coast while May to October is peak season on the east coast. Off-season rain should also be expected on random days, but be aware that these won’t last for more than a few hours and are always a welcome cooling solution for hot and humid days.

The roads – compared to other similar Asian countries, Sri Lanka has a good road network and the standards of the roads are especially good – more so on certain routes such as Negombo, Anuradhapura, Trincomalee, Jaffna. And the scenic views of the hills are of course unmatchable!

The bright lights in the capital city of Colombo is a good place to start. Its waves of fragrant spices clashing against the hot waves of the Indian Ocean make it an ideal place to begin exploring the country that was previously known as ‘Ceylon’. Colombo is currently the trading capital and the most developed part of Sri Lanka – with malls, restaurants, cinemas, markets and much more! Visit the heart of the country and truly understand what Sri Lanka is about.

There is a certain charm about Colombo with its mix of old and new architecture, pushing to the edge of the Indian Ocean. Once you’ve crossed the shore, notice trains full of commuters going up and down the coastline while the waves crash below the rail tracks. Grab a trishaw to the Fort area where colonial infrastructure is prominent – and a popular attraction. Pettah is Colombo’s “bazaar” – a market that is bustling throughout the day and into the late night – where literally everything can be bought, sold or repaired.

Cinnamon Gardens is a more stylish and sophisticated area as compared to Pettah. As the name suggests, it was once an orchard of cinnamon, but today, it is more buildings than cinnamon plants. The National Museum is a must visit for an insight into the country’s history and to understand what Sri Lanka is all about. Galle Face Green is a long, beautiful stretch of green grass parallel to the ocean shore. Every evening it gets crowded with locals looking to catch some fresh air and spend some leisure time with their kids. You will see games of cricket, kites being flown, and children playing catch, as the sun sets low into the Indian Ocean. Stalls of Sri Lankan Street food are lined up along the shore to give locals and foreigners an authentic experience of Sri Lankan food.

The road network in Sri Lanka is quite easy, and although compared to India and Nepal they are relatively quiet, the road rules can get hectic to guests travelling from well developed countries.

Trains are a good way of getting around to popular cities like Colombo, Kandy and Galle – but do expect trains to be crowded up to the doors!

Tuk tuks are available at every nook and corner but be sure to pre determine the price or make sure the meters are working fine before you get into one!

Discovering Rich Heritage

With multiple cities being appointed as the capital of Sri Lanka, a strong history has been developed, and many well-preserved ruins are World Heritage Sites.

  • Dambulla: while being the epicenter to temples such as the Dambulla Cave Temples (incredible structures dating back to the first century BC), it is also one of the busiest trade centers for fruits and vegetables – crucial to the local economy.
  • Habarana is a small town, yet a good place to base yourself if you are planning on exploring Sigiriya Lion’s Rock (a fortress built on the top of a rock, with two giant lion’s feet at its base), Dambulla Cave Temples, as well as National Parks in Kaudulla and Minneriya.
  • Between Kurunegala and Anuradhapura is the beautiful granite structure that was once known as the Yapahuwa Rock Fortress in the 13 th
  • The ancient towns of Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura are marked as UNESCO World Heritage Sites as they display several well-preserved ancient ruins scattered in parts of the towns. The Quadrangles, Abhayagiri Dagoba, Stupas, Sri Maha Bodhi and Buddha Statues are some of the highlights that should not be missed.

Exploring Exotic Beaches

  • If you are considering the south coast, the beaches of Bentota, Hikkaduwa, Galle, Unawatuna, Weligama, Mirissa, Hiriketiya and Tangalle are amongst the best.
  • Along the west coast, the best that Sri Lanka has got is Kalpitiya (known for kitesurfing and dolphin watching), and the golden sands of Negombo.
  • The East coasts boasts some of the best beaches in Asia – swim safe clear waters of Trincomalee and Passikuda, as well as the surfer’s paradise of Arugam Bay are a must visit!
  • The North coast of Jaffna, Mannar Island and Delft Island have also got postcard perfect beaches and are the best coast to visit if you want an off-the-beaten path experience.

Indulge in Scenic Views of the Hills

Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Kandy, Hatton, Badulla, Haputale, Bandarawela, and Koslanda are some of the most scenic hill country destinations – offering panoramic views of lush tea plantations, cascading waterfalls, mountains, valleys, and much more! While Kandy and Hatton are closer to Colombo and are a good option if you have got restricted time in your hands, Nuwara Eliya, Ella and Haputale offer more pleasant weather conditions as well as unending views that take your breath away! In these parts of the country, one can engage in activities such as trekking, mountain climbing, nature trails, white water rafting, scenic train rides and more.

Wildlife Encounters in Sri Lanka

From over 26 National Parks in Sri Lanka, popular ones such as Yala, Wilpattu, Minneriya and Udawalawe offer camping experiences for guests to get a real feel of what it is like to be in the wild. In addition to that, each of these parks offer jeep safari services that take you into the jungles in search of animals such as elephants, water buffalo, spotted dear, sloth bear, jackals, crocodiles, and much more! These safari’s last for about 3 hours and are best done during the early morning hours or late afternoon / early evening hours. Don’t forget to carry some water, binoculars and of course, a camera.

With tourism being one of the most significant and continuously booming industries in Sri Lanka for several decades, accommodation options are plenty. Budgeted hotels and guesthouses, and 4 and 5 star hotels are available in all corners of the country. For those looking for additional luxury, boutique hotels are a preferred option. If you are touring the country with a group of 10-15 family and friends, private boutique bungalows are also available in popular tourist destinations. Then there are also exclusive properties such as Anantara Tangalle, Wild Coast Tented Loge in Yala, and Ceylon Tea Trails that offer unmatchable, all-inclusive holiday experiences. A lot of wellness resorts that focus on sustainable living, environmentally friendly surroundings and encouraging guests to blend with nature are also up and coming in several parts of Sri Lanka. These resorts also offer Yoga sessions as well as Ayurvedic therapy to relax and rejuvenate mind, body and soul.

Things to keep in mind

  • While the people of Sri Lanka are very warm, welcoming and friendly and may offer to accommodate you in their homes, if you do encounter any trouble, do get in touch with relevant consulates and embassies located in Colombo.
  • Do not trust anyone with your belongings such as your passport, camera gear and money.
  • Be sure to pack breathable shirts, shorts/skirts that cover the knees, swim wear, hat, hiking shoes, flip flops, sunscreen, necessary toiletries, and a mosquito repellent.
  • When entering a temple, you will be asked to remove your shoes and hat, cover your shoulders and knees.
  • Make sure you have travel insurance before you leave your home country and you are aware of how to contact your insurance service provider in case of an emergency.

The sport’s highest governing body, the International Cricket Council, prepares a schedule for Test-playing nations, requiring them to play at least two  bilateral  series (one at home and one away) against each other over a 10-match period. Have to play. This schedule is called the Future Tour Program or FTP for short. Two is the minimum number. If the boards of the countries reach an agreement, they can also play more than two bilateral series in 10 years, but they need to play at least two series.

Here we have made available for you the FTP schedule of every test playing country. We have a drop down bar below. All you have to do is select the country of your choice from the drop down bar and a list will appear in front of you which will have the upcoming bilateral series schedule of that country.

Frequently Asked Questions

Warmly welcome by our Airport representative on arrival terminal in the airport & He will be introducing your dedicated chauffeur/Guide for the whole tour and they will be hanging a board written with your name for recognition.

We will take appropriate measures so that you are not inconvenienced in case by sending a Whatsapp message to 0094779144664 urgently.

The airport transfer is your final destination at the time of schedule and if you choose a different date for which you will not arrive the same date at the airport due to any event, an additional fee will be charged.

Charges for additional accommodation will depend on the hotel categories you wish to stay in. We will work to provide the relevant facilities upon your request.

You cannot change the itinerary that you have already agreed upon. But, you can change your pre chosen sightseeings in the itinerary according to your preferences. Furthermore, if you wish to stay at the hotel premises reserved for you in destination B instead of staying at the hotel premises reserved for you in destination "A", the hotel charges at destination "A " will not be refunded to you.

To name a few of the network providers in Sri Lanka, Dialog, Mobitel, Airtel and Hutch are well known. Sri Lanka's most popular and largest network providing partner is dialog. But what is more appropriate for a traveller, as of the best coverage is Hutch. On arrival, travellers can buy sim cards from the counters in the airport according to their preference.

From a standard restaurant, lunch/dinner buffet or an ala carte can be bought for around 10$-12$. Rice along with Sri Lankan cuisines are available in plenty of shops much cheaper than standard restaurants but those are too spicy.

Major archaeological sites such as Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura accept foreign currency and all national parks only accept Sri Lankan currency. So you can avoid inconveniences by having both currencies with you.

Mainly you can change from any bank at the airport arrival terminal and authorized agencies in major cities.

It is very difficult. Card payments cannot be made at any local sites controlled by the government agencies. For example, Elephant Orphanage/National parks, Sigiriya fortress etc. Card payments can only be made at certain stations for tourism activities promoted by private agencies. The best way is keeping cash on hand.
