Description.
The Spokane Transit Authority (STA) Connect app is packed full of features! With the STA Connect app you can: - Link a physical Connect card or create a virtual eConnect card - Add value or passes - Check your balance - View fare capping progress - Enable autoload - Lock lost or stolen cards - Manage payment methods - View card activity, including ride history Virtual eConnect cards are separate from physical Connect cards. eConnect cards are completely virtual and exist only in your mobile phone. Every card, whether physical or eConnect, has a unique 20 digit number, and that 20 digit number has its own separate balances and fare capping totals from any other Connect card number, even when linked within the same STA Connect app account profile. To add value to an eConnect or physical Connect card, simply add a credit or debit card to your Connect account, then add value to your cart and check out. With value added to your card, you are ready to ride! Please note that no refund can be given on funds loaded to a physical or eConnect card. When you board the bus, bring up the fare payment QR code and hold your phone approximately eight inches below the fare validator with the screen facing up. When your eConnect card has been validated and fare collected, you’ll hear a beep and see a green check mark. Riders with a Universal Transit Access Pass (UTAP) through a local university (e.g. EWU, Gonzaga, SCC, SFCC, Whitworth, or WSU Spokane), employer (e.g. City of Spokane or Spokane County), or other partner agency (e.g. Kendall Yards) can now link their UTAP to their virtual Connect card directly in the STA Connect app. Simply register with your UTAP email address and use the “Partner Agency” widget on the home screen to get started. Well enough..
It works well enough, but for a solid month I couldn’t leave the app while waiting to use my card, I had to force close it and restart every time. I also have issues off and on where the app won’t let me login using the correct login, so I’ve had to change my email and password multiple times. It’s fine for what it is, but it definitely isn’t great.
Garbage App
Took $15 dollars from me, never loaded it to my card. STA customer service told me I need to just wait because it may be a delay in processing. But nothing still. Wish Spokane could just actually put some effort into public transport instead of using the absolute cheapest options all the time.

Works well, wanting more
The app works. Haven’t had any issues. Would love to see these things added: -Ability to add pass to wallet and use NFC / express mode (faster than barcode) -Ability to use Apple Pay -Integration with college IDs for free access
Thank you for your feedback! Please keep in mind that you can have your reduced fare card in the app. Just visit or contact customer service at (509) 328-RIDE (7433) and they can assist you in making your eConnect card category reduced fare. Also, note that ApplePay will be added in 2023.

We are Tuxedo and we act as Programme Managers to your STA Travel card. We are aware of the current situation that STA is facing, and we are in communication with them.
Whilst you may have heard reports in the press about STA Travel we want to confirm to you that the money held on your STA Travel Prepaid Card and account remain secure.
Your card is issued by IDT Financial Services Limited (whose name appears on the back of your card) and it is this regulated bank that holds your funds and operates separately to STA Travel. The funds belong to you and you can continue using your card.

Legacy smart cards are being replaced by the new Connect card.
A legacy smart card will continue to work until the value or passes on it are depleted. However, additional passes or value cannot be loaded on to it starting October 1. Once your smart card is empty, you will need to get a Connect card to replace your smart card.

Riding the Bus System - Legacy Smart Card
Riding the bus with your Smart Card is easy and fast! Before you tap, let your driver know if you qualify for reduced fare, and tap away. If you are using your Smart Card with Stored Value, request a Two-Hour pass from your driver if you need a transfer.
Riding Paratransit - Legacy Smart Card
Paratransit customers can also use a Smart Card – just hand your pass to the driver and let them know if you have a Monthly Pass or Stored Value and they will take care of the rest.
Things to Note - Legacy Smart Card
- Smart Cards are NOT legal identifications and should only be used for STA purposes.
- There is no set up fee for your first card, but there is a $5 charge for a replacement card.
- Don’t forget to register your card with Customer Service to protect your balance in case of a lost card.
- DO NOT BEND your card. This can break the technology within the card causing it to no longer function, and causing you to have to replace the card.
