This place is terrible. We met with Vicky Mary, the "Managing PARTER" (as it says on her business card - assuming this should be PARTNER - lol) and she made this big deal of xeroxing our passports and global entry cards to give US copies (huh? We have scanners...) like she was doing us some big favor, when really, we just wanted to talk about planning our trip. She said ushered us out quickly (we barely spoke in detail about the trip), and said she would get back to us. After a week, I called and emailed multiple times, and never heard back. After 2.5 weeks, she sent an itinerary to us that didn't involve what we wanted to do / had briefly discussed before she ushered us out! We emailed / called back, and no response. Rude, unprofessional, and if their business cards are in any way indicative of their attention to detail, I think we dodged a bullet by moving on!

Tried to book our honeymoon with them. After the initial meeting, we could not reach anybody at the office to finalize our reservation or put down a deposit. We left multiple messages and voicemails over the course of several weeks. We just wanted some form of response from the company and got zero response. After several weeks of waiting, we get an email saying they can't handle our booking. Very disorganized and unprofessional business.

Victoria's Travels

Secret gems: discover cincinnati’s best walking tour, the buckeye trail, loveland section, #1-7, eden park to mariemont, 12-22-2023.

Even if you don’t hike the Buckeye Trail (BT), you should take this jaunt. We absolutely loved this stretch of the Loveland Section of the BT! You begin at the Eden Park Overlook, which offers stunning views of downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River, making it a popular spot for tourists and locals alike to take in the city’s skyline from up high.

I don’t have a funny story or tales of woe, just a lot of wonderful photos! So, let us begin.

As you begin your journey north, the trail takes you past historic houses, mansions, churches, whimsical artifacts, and more.

We were hardly aware of the time or miles as we made our way along the Buckeye Trail. It is certaInly different from other parts of the BT, when we slogged muddy trails in the wilderness. One thing we enjoy about the Buckeye Trail is that it has taken us to parts of Ohio that we would have never seen or experienced. The route is fairly straightforward, but if you have doubts, check FarOut.

We took a bazillion pictures and chatted about the architecture and unique things we saw on our nine-mile journey. (If that is too long, you could break it up into two 4.5-mile segments.) You could drive a car along the route, but you’d miss a lot if you just whizzed by.

I was very grateful to have Dave as my companion. Not only was he knowledgeable about architecture, but he pointed out details I missed, such as this wonderful work of art.

In the 1800s, Cincinnati earned the nickname “Porkopolis” due to the city’s pork processing heritage. In 2000, Cincinnati held The Pig Art Gig, a public art event where local artists decorated fiberglass pig sculptures that were displayed throughout the city, bringing color, creativity, and whimsy to the streets—a few remain.

Dave said, “Come see this house. It looks like something out of Harry Potter.”

This house totally blew me away! However, I found the house next to it distracting, not to mention power lines, street signs, and vehicles, so I took photos and edited them for a better view.

Terry L. Brown was an architect and a professor at the University of Cincinnati who built the Mushroom House. He experimented with unconventional materials and forms and used the house as a teaching tool for his students. He wanted to challenge the norms of architecture and create a whimsical and unique structure that would stand out in the urban landscape.

Terry Brown and his students worked on the house from 1992-2006. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 65. Obituaries state that he died after a short illness. There is a plaque on the house to commemorate his contribution to this creative work of architecture.

Terry L. Brown believed architecture should be creative, unconventional, and integrate with nature, as evidenced by his organic, curved mushroom-inspired designs.

I was curious about the interior of the house and found this informative video: Mushroom House video, Hyde Park . It said the interior was decorated in “young cowboy style.”

We cross the bridge to Murray Road Hike/Bike Trail.

A note about parking: Our trail angel, Krista Darkins, met us at Mariemont Elementary School parking (as in the above photo) and dropped us off at Eden Park, the southern terminus of the Buckeye Trail.

Since we hiked a few days before Christmas, Krista suggested we view the Shillito’s Elves at Santa’s Workshop in Mariemont when we finished. In the 1950s, the store featured mechanized Christmas scenes in its store windows. You may recognize the current department store name as Macy’s, which it adopted in 2005. If you are walking the trail during the holidays, stop in and see these wonderful, historic scenes! Santa’s Workshop is located at 6954 Madisonville Rd., Cincinnati 45227 (Mariemont).

The route is fairly straightforward, but if you have doubts, check FarOut.

America's 250th birthday to be celebrated in Cincinnati with 'River Roots' celebration

An event celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States is planned for next year in Cincinnati.

America's River Roots, a musical and cultural celebration, will take place in Cincinnati on the Ohio River in October 2025. The event is one of several festivities expected across the nation, leading up to America's official quarter-millennial on July 4, 2026.

Organizers will announce more details about America's River Roots at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center .
