Ratings and reviews

Food and ambience, location and contact.

Nachos, chicken and bacon salad for wifey, prawn cocktail, fish and chips for myself. I was surprised to be served king prawns, and very enjoyable they were too. Fish was in crispy batter, and chips weren't too bad for once. Wifey was disappointed with the... salad. It was supposed to come with a house dressing, but was bone dry. When we queried it, we were told the house dressing was only olive oil, and offered salad cream. Couldn't we have some olive oil then? Apparently not, dry salad it was. More

Hi L3K, Thank you so much for your review. We are so happy you found your meals enjoyable! We have taken on your comments regarding the lack of dressing and have made some changes. We now make sure there is always a dressing served as... More

Went to the Voyager tea time a family group. Not imprest with the food. Steak and ale pie pastry tough and difficult to cut. Fish and chips you could count on one hand the chips. Pub staff were not very attentive never even asked if... we were happy with the food. Might be a while before we go there again. More

Ok, I guess you can’t complain too much to say the place is dirt cheap. Fancying a Sunday roast we decided to try our new local pub, having only recently moved to Guisborough. However we got there, there were no Sunday roasts left, no drama,... I opted for chicken tikka masala and my partner ordered gammon. The waitress was friendly enough, bless her, but the food was, well let’s say, my chicken (well I say chicken but there was only 4 tiny pieces) tikka masala was a frozen ready meal and the rice had obviously been microwaved, and accompanied by a plastic poppadum and a naan bread the size of my fist. Which isn’t that big. The gammon was fine, although clearly the chips are frozen, and I’d hazard a guess that the veg was also microwaved-in-the-bag too. I guess it’s ok for a cheap meal out, and perhaps I ought to have checked out their menu properly before going. But if you want decent food, don’t go here. Suffice to say I shan’t be returning here anytime soon. More

We used to love coming here but this place has gone downhill, visited for Sunday lunch, no Sunday lunch ! Ordered of the specials menu first thing I ordered the pasta Alfredo none left, then ordered my daughter crispy chicken none left, ordered two portions... of the lamb chops sat down five minutes later only one lamb chops left, wanted the fish pie instead none left! Why advertise specials you don’t have or have run out of? The place was half empty so was hardly demand. My husband ordered fish and chips brought to the table and the waitress spilt the chips all over the table and took it away again, the fish was dreadful over cooked and greasy. Toilets were filthy. Used to be fantastic food but wouldn’t visit again after today. More

Thank you so much for leaving feedback. Sunday Dinners are served from 11:00 but we only serve a limited amount, once they're gone they're gone im afraid! Unfortunately do to national supply issues, we haven't been receiving products at the same level or frequency we... More

We had a table of eight booked for Christmas Dinner. Following a couple of positive COVID-19 tests on Christmas Eve, the affected households were no longer able to attend (the remainder of our party hadn’t been in contact with them and all tested negative), leaving... just four of us. Despite some obvious disappointment, the Voyager team went above and beyond to salvage the day, at very short notice. At our request, they were able to provide food to take away for the affected people, cooked just in time for when the rest of us were ready to leave. We had a great day, the staff were brilliant and the food was lovely. I’m also told that those eating at home really enjoyed their dinner as well. I have nothing but praise for the Voyager team, both front of house and in the kitchen. As far as we are concerned they saved Christmas! More

Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely review. We’re glad you had a nice time and wish your family all the best. Cheers đŸ»

We visited here twice whilst on holiday. They had good gluten free options and were able to accomodate dairy free as well. They have a lovely outdoor seating area, which is dog friendly (we had three with us). The service was great and the staff... were friendly and more than willing to fill our water bottle with tap water to give the dogs. Food was standard pub food. It was very reasonably priced and of a good size. If we lived locally it is somewhere we would visit on a regular basis! More

Cheers for the lovely feedback Jemma! We look forward to seeing you next time you're in the area. :)

Was in for the Tuesday night quiz, which by the way gets me through my day knowing I get to experience the phenomenon which is the General Knowledge quiz. The host should probably have her own TV show. Brilliant. The food is sublime and when... I can’t decide which delicacy to treat my pallet to the staff are always on hand to help me select. Overall 10/10 experience, perhaps even 11/10. If anyone needs to disembark the weary saddle of a working week, get yourself in the quiz and enter the land of harmonic bliss. You won’t be disappointed and I guarantee you add Tuesday night at the Voyager as part of your routine. More

Hi Jonny Thanks for leaving such a detailed description of your experience! Wishing you all the very best Cheers đŸ»

Since re- opening, The Voyager has been fantastic, staff chatting to us and the kids saying how much they have missed their customers, very friendly. Sanitisers on the walls. Staff greet you at the door and one way in and out. Feels very clean and... safe. Food is always of a great standard. The staff make the place as we have always felt welcome, they are super polite and helpful. There is always a nice atmosphere here. There is an outdoor play area for children which has new safety regulations. A lovely new outdoor seating area with lights and heaters. They do discount for nhs workers too. We have been many times with family and friends. Would highly recommend this fantastic place. More

Visited with family, booked for a group of six but with a list minute addition of two more, and they were very accommodating in finding a place to sit. Good menu choices, everything we wanted was available. Good value kids meals, can add a dessert... for just ÂŁ1.25 and they are as big as an adult portion! I had the steak and and pie, really enjoyed my meal - very tasty. Staff were friendly, interacted well with the kids. I grew up in the area with this as my first local, it hasn't really changed that much in recent years but that's why I like it! Unfussy, unpretentious, decent value for money, thumbs up! More

Hey, thank you so much for the feedback, it's much appreciated. See you next time :)

Food and drink goof except one person sat constantly smoking a vape letting off clouds of toxic smoke..when I asked the bar staff they said its fine. Not sure it's good for infants to be taking in with they're dinner. It's banned almost everywhere and... it's unnecessary to do inside a public place where family's are eating. Please use the smoking shelter or the over 18s area no the food court More

Hi Jake I think this is relevant feedback and on the back of this we have decided to only allow vaping in the bar area of the pub. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Hopefully we can improve your rating in the future Cheers đŸ»

Just been here this evening for Amanda Hart the drag artist. Wad also meeting up with friends for the Christmas Fayre meal beforehand. The food was excellent and you certainly won't leave feeling hungry as excellent portions. Food served promptly and everything was as it... should be. This was followed by the excellent drag artist entertainer Amanda Hart. Absolutely hilarious, and I would highly recommend if at a pub near you. More

Hi Andrew Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review of your evening We look forward to seeing you again soon Cheers!

By far the best pub in guis. Decent food, even better pints and served the finest estrella I’ve ever had, would highly recommend. Music isn’t bad either.

Cheers Sam đŸ»

The Voyager is easily the best pub in Guisborough. Go there all the time for food / drink and general socialising. The staff there are always really welcoming and the pub itself is a real hub of the local community.

Hi Michael thanks for the positive feedback See you again soon cheers

Went for the Tuesday night burger and pint for ÂŁ10. Very good value that even McDonald's could not compete with. Triple burger very meaty and juicy, a very good berger at a good price. And a fun quiz also. Will be back.

Hi Shackleston thanks for leaving a review. We hope to see you again soon Cheers đŸ» [email protected]

Great place, great food ,and lovely staff will definitely be going again. Lunchtime smaller portions are served which is great ad I haven't got a big appetite. Food hot when it came

Afraid to say our visit was a great disappointment. After been told our meal would be delayed by 30 minutes it was actually 50 minutes before it arrived. The food was tepid and very lacklustre. On the plus side the young staff were very polite... More

First time I had been back to the voyager in over a year. Sat on the table on the far right of the pub near the toilets. There was over 5 flys buzzing around the full time we were here! Considering it's winter as well... More

Great to see the old place looking so modern and stylish - had a burger and it was delicious other family members had Burrito which they enjoyed and pizza which was beautiful.

Visited for lunch on Thursday afternoon. Sat outside in the sunshine. Service from the young guy behind the bar was friendly and knowledgable. He was also running food. Food was good but not as good as the service. Would return.

How NASA Repaired Voyager 1 From 15 Billion Miles Away

The Voyager 1 spacecraft launching

Engineers have partially restored a 1970s-era computer on NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft after five months of long-distance troubleshooting , building confidence that humanity's first interstellar probe can eventually resume normal operations.

Several dozen scientists and engineers gathered Saturday in a conference room at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, or connected virtually, to wait for a new signal from Voyager 1. The ground team sent a command up to Voyager 1 on Thursday to recode part of the memory of the spacecraft's Flight Data Subsystem (FDS) , one of the probe's three computers.

“In the minutes leading up to when we were going to see a signal, you could have heard a pin drop in the room,” said Linda Spilker, project scientist for NASA's two Voyager spacecraft at JPL. “It was quiet. People were looking very serious. They were looking at their computer screens. Each of the subsystem (engineers) had pages up that they were looking at, to watch as they would be populated.”

Finally, a Breakthrough

Launched nearly 47 years ago, Voyager 1 is flying on an outbound trajectory more than 15 billion miles (24 billion kilometers) from Earth, and it takes 22.5 hours for a radio signal to cover that distance at the speed of light. This means it takes nearly two days for engineers to uplink a command to Voyager 1 and get a response.

In November, Voyager 1 suddenly stopped transmitting its usual stream of data containing information about the spacecraft's health and measurements from its scientific instruments. Instead, the spacecraft's datastream was entirely unintelligible. Because the telemetry was unreadable, experts on the ground could not easily tell what went wrong. They hypothesized the source of the problem might be in the memory bank of the FDS.

There was a breakthrough last month when engineers sent up a novel command to “poke” Voyager 1's FDS to send back a readout of its memory. This readout allowed engineers to pinpoint the location of the problem in the FDS memory . The FDS is responsible for packaging engineering and scientific data for transmission to Earth.

After a few weeks, NASA was ready to uplink a solution to get the FDS to resume packing engineering data. This datastream includes information on the status of the spacecraft—things like power levels and temperature measurements. This command went up to Voyager 1 through one of NASA's large Deep Space Network antennae on Thursday.

Then, the wait for a response. Spilker, who started working on Voyager right out of college in 1977, was in the room when Voyager 1's signal reached Earth on Saturday.

“When the time came to get the signal, we could clearly see all of a sudden, boom, we had data, and there were tears and smiles and high fives,” she told Ars. “Everyone was very happy and very excited to see that, hey, we're back in communication again with Voyager 1. We're going to see the status of the spacecraft, the health of the spacecraft, for the first time in five months.”

How to Use ChatGPT’s Memory Feature

Throughout the five months of troubleshooting, Voyager's ground team continued to receive signals indicating the spacecraft was still alive. But until Saturday, they lacked insight into specific details about the status of Voyager 1.

“It’s pretty much just the way we left it,” Spilker said. “We're still in the initial phases of analyzing all of the channels and looking at their trends. Some of the temperatures went down a little bit with this period of time that's gone on, but we're pretty much seeing everything we had hoped for. And that's always good news.”

Relocating Code

Through their investigation, Voyager's ground team discovered that a single chip responsible for storing a portion of the FDS memory had stopped working, probably due to either a cosmic ray hit or a failure of aging hardware. This affected some of the computer's software code.

“That took out a section of memory,” Spilker said. “What they have to do is relocate that code into a different portion of the memory, and then make sure that anything that uses those codes, those subroutines, know to go to the new location of memory, for access and to run it.”

Only about 3 percent of the FDS memory was corrupted by the bad chip, so engineers needed to transplant that code into another part of the memory bank. But no single location is large enough to hold the section of code in its entirety, NASA said.

So the Voyager team divided the code into sections for storage in different places in the FDS. This wasn't just a copy-and-paste job. Engineers needed to modify some of the code to make sure it will all work together. “Any references to the location of that code in other parts of the FDS memory needed to be updated as well,” NASA said in a statement.

Newer NASA missions have hardware and software simulators on the ground, where engineers can test new procedures to make sure they do no harm when they uplink commands to the real spacecraft. Due to its age, Voyager doesn't have any ground simulators, and much of the mission's original design documentation remains in paper form and hasn't been digitized.

“It was really eyes-only to look at the code,” Spilker said. “So we had to triple check. Everybody was looking through and making sure we had all of the links coming together.”

This was just the first step in restoring Voyager 1 to full functionality. “We were pretty sure it would work, but until it actually happened, we didn't know 100 percent for sure,” Spilker said.

“The reason we didn’t do everything in one step is that there was a very limited amount of memory we could find quickly, so we prioritized one data mode (the engineering data mode), and relocated only the code to restore that mode,” said Jeff Mellstrom, a JPL engineer who leads the Voyager 1 “tiger team” tasked with overcoming this problem.

“The next step, to relocate the remaining three actively used science data modes, is essentially the same,” Mellstrom said in a written response to Ars. “The main difference is the available memory constraint is now even tighter. We have ideas where we could relocate the code, but we haven’t yet fully assessed the options or made a decision. These are the first steps we will start this week.”

It could take “a few weeks” to go through the sections of code responsible for packaging Voyager 1's science data in the FDS, Spilker said.

That will be the key payoff, Spilker said. Voyager 1 and its twin spacecraft, Voyager 2, are the only operating probes flying in the interstellar medium, the diffuse gas between the stars. Their prime missions are long over. Voyager 1 flew by Jupiter and Saturn in 1979 and 1980, then got a gravitational boost toward the outer edge of the Solar System. Voyager 2 took a slower trajectory and encountered Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

For the past couple of decades, NASA has devoted Voyager's instruments to studying cosmic rays, the magnetic field, and the plasma environment in interstellar space. They're not taking pictures anymore. Both probes have traveled beyond the heliopause, where the flow of particles emanating from the Sun runs into the interstellar medium.

Illustration showing Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 relative to the heliosphere

But any scientific data collected by Voyager 1 since November 14 has been lost. The spacecraft does not have the ability to store science data onboard. Voyager 2 has remained operational during the outage of Voyager 1.

Scientists are eager to get their hands on Voyager 1's science data again. “With the results we got on Saturday, we have new confidence that we can put together the pieces we need to now get back the science data,” Spilker said.

“One thing I'm particularly excited about—there's this feature in the Voyager 1 data. We nicknamed it Pressure Front 2,” Spilker said. “Pressure Front 2 is a jump in both the density of the plasma around the spacecraft and the magnetic field. It's lasted for three-and-a-half years.”

“We'd like to see, is this still there?” she continued. “It's different from what we've seen in the past, and we're trying to figure out, is it some influence coming from the Sun, or is it actually something coming from interstellar space that's creating this feature? So we'd like to see it again, get more data, and be able to study it more carefully.”

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — NASA has finally heard back from Voyager 1 again in a way that makes sense.

The most distant spacecraft from Earth stopped sending back understandable data last November. Flight controllers traced the blank communication to a bad computer chip and rearranged the spacecraft’s coding to work around the trouble.

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California declared success after receiving good engineering updates late last week. The team is still working to restore transmission of the science data.

It takes 22 1/2 hours to send a signal to Voyager 1, more than 15 billion miles (24 billion kilometers) away in interstellar space. The signal travel time is double that for a round trip.

Contact was never lost, rather it was like making a phone call where you can’t hear the person on the other end, a JPL spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Launched in 1977 to study Jupiter and Saturn, Voyager 1 has been exploring interstellar space — the space between star systems — since 2012. Its twin, Voyager 2, is 12.6 billion miles (20 billion kilometers) away and still working fine.

This photo provided by NASA shows the Perseverance Mars rover collecting a sample from a rock called "Bunsen Peak" using a coring bit on the end of its robotic arm on March 11, 2024. NASA has put the effort to bring the samples to Earth on hold until there is a faster, cheaper way. (NASA/JPL-Caltech/ASU via AP)

Screen Rant

7 star trek: voyager alien villains worse than discovery’s breen.

Discovery season 5 almost brought back a Voyager villain instead of the Breen. So which 7 Star Trek: Voyager enemies are badder than the Breen?

WARNING: Contains SPOILERS for Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 5, "Mirrors"!

  • Breen Imperium emerges as main threat in Discovery S5, seeking Progenitors' tech to destroy the Federation.
  • Voyager's Vidiians were considered as villains, but Discovery went with DS9's Breen instead.
  • Species like the Hirogen, Species 8472 and Jurati's Borg could wreak havoc with Progenitors' technology.

The crew of Star Trek: Discovery should think themselves lucky that they're facing the Breen and not some of Star Trek: Voyager 's more dangerous enemies. It's now confirmed that the Breen Imperium will be the larger antagonists in the second half of Discovery season 5, following the revelations about Moll (Eve Harlow) and L'ak (Elias Toufexis) and the Erigah placed upon them. Discovery season 5, episode 5 , "Mirrors" revealed that Moll and L'ak were seeking to hand over the Progenitors' technology to the Breen, to erase their blood bounty. With the Progenitors' technology, the Breen will be able to destroy the Federation .

Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 5, "Mirrors", was written by Johanna Lee & Carlos Cisco, and directed by Jen McGowan.

Carlos Cisco, who co-wrote Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 5, "Mirrors" with Johanna Lee, discussed the Breen on The 7th Rule podcast . While discussing Discovery 's new " jelly Breens " , Carlos Cisco revealed that the Star Trek: Voyager villains, the Vidiians were considered as possible season 5 villains. Given that the Vidiians were seemingly cured of the Phage in Star Trek: Voyager season 5, episode 20, "Think Tank", it's hard to see what would be driving them to secure the Progenitors' technology 800 years later. So, while Discovery was probably right not to choose the Vidiians, there are some other Voyager villains that are more than a match for the Breen .

Voyager Is Why Star Trek Is Replacing Discovery’s Spore Drive

7 the krenim, voyager's temporal scientists have already caused trouble for discovery..

The USS Voyager ran afoul of the Krenim in the season 4 two-parter, "Year of Hell". Commanded by temporal scientist Annorax (Kurtwood Smith), the Krenim Time Ship was able to force entire species out of the space-time continuum, creating alternate realities as they did so. Annorax wanted to restore the Krenim Imperium to power by reshaping history in his own image, but he never quite worked out the calculations, meaning that he only made things worse. Each change that Annorax made to the established timeline, the further he seemed to get from restoring the power of the Krenim Imperium in Star Trek: Voyager .

Annorax was the third of Kurtwood Smith's four Star Trek roles between 1991 and 2021.

Star Trek: Discovery confirmed the Krenim's role in Star Trek 's Temporal Wars when one of their Chronphage weapons found itself aboard the USS Discovery. With temporal technology outlawed, the Krenim Imperium may be looking for other ways to reestablish their dominance . Therefore, the Progenitors' technology would provide an ideal way to restore power to the Krenim Imperium. It can both create and destroy life, meaning that the Krenim would no longer need to rely on temporal technology to erase their enemies from the space-time continuum.

6 The Vaadwaur

An ancient alien race seeking to assert their dominance..

The Kellerun and arguably even the Breen are deep cut Star Trek: Deep Space Nine aliens that feature in Star Trek: Discovery season 5. So Discovery season 5 could certainly have brought back the deep-cut Star Trek: Voyager villains, the Vaadwaur. The snake-like aliens existed in the early 15th century, using subspace corridors to attack multiple planets, including Talax, the home world of Neelix (Ethan Phillips) . Eventually, a coalition of races formed against the Vaadwaur, seemingly driving the race to extinction.

The Star Trek: Enterprise episode "Dead Stop" features a Vaadwaur corpse in the repair station, suggesting that there were other survivors of the coalition's attempt to destroy the species.

The USS Voyager recovered surviving members of the Vaadwaur 800 years later, in Star Trek: Voyager season 6, episode 7, "Dragon's Teeth" . Manipulating the crew of Voyager, the Vaadwaur tried to use the ship to strike back against the races that had risen up against their imperialism. They were prevented from launching another attempt to dominate the galaxy, but their ability to navigate subspace corridors, combined with the powers of the Progenitors' technology in the 32nd century could easily have led to the rise of a second Vaadwaur empire in Star Trek: Discovery season 5.

Star Trek: Discovery’s Progenitor Technology Is Far More Powerful Than Wrath Of Khan’s Genesis Device

The voth may have preceded the progenitors..

The Voth weren't especially dangerous in their one and only Star Trek: Voyager appearance, however there was one big warning sign. A species that was believed to have originated from Earth's dinosaurs, the Voth left Earth and eventually established themselves in the Delta Quadrant . The existence of the Voth, and their genetic connection to Earth's dinosaurs means that the Progenitors' effectively took their planet from them by seeding humanoid life there. This could have set up a fascinating dynamic where the Voth, perhaps fleeing devastation in the Delta Quadrant, could have tried to reclaim Earth with the Progenitors' technology.

The story of the Voth in Star Trek: Voyager bears a striking resemblance to the Silurians from Doctor Who , right down to one Voth having what looks like a third eye on their forehead.

The new Star Trek: Voyager aliens were largely depicted as religious extremists in "Distant Origin", as many Voth refused to believe they originated elsewhere in the galaxy. Such zealotry could easily be tipped the other way, with the Voth in Star Trek: Discovery 's 32nd century becoming convinced that possession of the Earth is a divine right . Possessing the Progenitors' technology would also give the Voth power over their human successors, making them a deadly potential foe with fascinating motivations as villains.

4 The Vidiians

The phage-infected aliens could finally cure all ills..

Star Trek: Voyager season 5, episode 20, "Think Tank" revealed that a cure for the Vidiian's virus, the Phage, had been found by a group of hyper-intelligent aliens. Whether this was true or not, 800 years have passed since the end of Voyager , meaning that the plague-stricken Vidiians could have found history repeating itself in Star Trek: Discovery 's 32nd century. Voyager established that the Vidiians would stop at nothing to mitigate the effects of the Phage, from harvesting organs to conducting horrific scientific experiments .

The Vidiian scientist Sulan was able to split Lt. B'Elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson) into her human and Klingon halves, creating two distinct B'Elannas in Star Trek: Voyager season 1, episode 14, "Faces".

While there were sympathetic Vidiians like Dr. Danara Pel (Susan Diol), who was one of the love interests of Voyager's Doctor (Robert Picardo). However, the majority of Vidiians encountered in Star Trek: Voyager were keen to harvest innocent people in their never-ending battle against the Phage. As a humanoid race, the Vidiians would have a strong cause for seeking the Progenitors' technology, as they could presumably use it to erase all illness in their species . It seems unlikely that the Vidiians would stop there, potentially using the technology for larger, more nefarious goals.

I’m Glad Robert Picardo Changed His Mind About Star Trek: Voyager’s Big Doctor Twist

3 the hirogen, discovery's progenitors' tech could give them unlimited prey..

The Hirogen were a nomadic alien species that lived for the hunt, and anyone or anything was fair game in the Delta Quadrant . To try and assuage their murderous impulses, Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) gave the Hirogens holodeck technology. However, this went wrong when the hunter species changed the programming to make more suitable prey, resulting in a hologram uprising in the movie-length Star Trek: Voyager episode , "Flesh and Blood". Giving the Hirogen the ability to create their own prey with the Progenitors' technology in Star Trek: Discovery is a very chilling thought.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 revealed that Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) was hunted by a Hirogen while in command of the USS Enterprise-E.

Creating sentient life purely for the purposes of hunting them is unbelievably cruel, but it would also be on brand for the Hirogen . Throughout Star Trek: Voyager , the Hirogen proved that they placed the hunt above all else, meaning that the galaxy would get caught in the crossover of such a rampant expansion of their hunt. While the Hirogen aren't as likely to burn the Federation to the ground as the Breen Imperium, a massive expansion of their hunt could create a moral and diplomatic nightmare in Star Trek: Discovery 's 32nd century.

2 Species 8472

A non-humanoid species who once waged war against the borg..

Star Trek: Voyager 's Species 8472 villains were incredibly powerful beings that were able to defeat the Borg Collective. Existing in fluidic space, Species 8472 had immensely powerful biotechnological abilities, and even possessed the power to shape-shift. While Captain Janeway eventually negotiated peace between Species 8472 and humanity, averting a full-blown invasion of Earth, it's still possible that future events could lead to hostilities resuming. Species 8472 were one of 1990s Star Trek 's most outright alien villains, so they'd likely have different intentions for the Progenitors' technology .

Species 8472 was the first completely computer-generated alien species in the Star Trek franchise.

Star Trek: Discovery 's updated Breen aren't straightforwardly humanoid, but they're also far less alien than Species 8472 . An alien race that didn't originate from the Progenitors, with the ability to wipe out all humanoid life in the galaxy is a terrifying prospect for the 32nd century. Thankfully, Janeway's peace with Species 8472 appears to have lasted long into the 32nd century, meaning that the Star Trek: Voyager villains aren't appearing as Discovery season 5's major antagonists.

Star Trek: Voyager's Janeway Becoming Ripley From Alien Explained By Producer

1 the borg collective, picard finished what janeway started, or did he.

Given the success of Star Trek: Picard season 3, it's probably for the best that the Borg Collective don't feature in Star Trek: Discovery season 5. It's one of many lessons Discovery learned from Picard season 3 , however it's worth pondering just what the Borg could do with the Progenitors' technology. The ability to create life with the Progenitors' technology would give the Borg Collective a never-ending stream of drones with which to assimilate the entire galaxy . It's just as well that Admiral Picard finished what Janeway started in the Voyager finale, by killing the Borg Queen once and for all.

Captain Janeway faced the Borg Queen three times in Star Trek: Voyager , compared to Picard's two in Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek: Picard season 3.

A Borg Collective presumably still exists in Star Trek: Discovery 's 32nd century, led by Agnes Jurati (Alison Pill), who wanted to use their technology to heal, rather than destroy. Even though Jurati had more benevolent intentions in Star Trek: Picard , the Progenitors' treasure combined with Borg technology is a frightening concept. Such a combination could have been a recipe for the bad old days of Star Trek: Voyager 's treacherous journey through the Borg Collective's native territory of the Delta Quadrant. Starfleet, and the Breen, just wouldn't stand a chance.

About Dinamo Elektrostal

Moscow’s Dinamo Elektrostal are gearing up for their fifth EHL season having frequently picked off impressive wins but have yet to top their particular group in their previous attempts.

They did get the best of arch rivals Dinamo Ak-Bars in both the Russian Cup and the Prometheus International tournament to show they are knocking on the door.

There has been a reasonable level of turnover from 2020 with Anton Noshin, Evgenii Mokrousov, Aleksei Godenkov and Ivan Zuikov joining the newly formed TsOP Moskomsport outfit. Danill Karagodin, Mikhail Nekludov and Ilya Larikov have all retired.

Their replacements are mostly youngsters with Dmitry Zheleznyakov, Aleksei Samylkin, Petr Agapov, Ilia Bartenev, Andrei Gribanov and Oleg Kulakov joining their line-up.
