After discovering her passion for stand-up comedy later in life and finding the time and confidence to pursue her dream, Leanne Morgan has cemented herself as a must-watch comedian. 

Leanne was feeling the lure of Hollywood after graduating high school, yet the idea of moving there was unheard of and too daunting for a country girl who had never been away from home. She enrolled in college at The University of Tennessee, where she graduated (by the skin of her teeth) with a degree in Child and Family Studies. 

Shortly after, she married her husband, Chuck, and they moved to Bean Station, Tennessee located in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. 

To stay busy after having her first baby, Morgan started selling jewelry at home parties. She was supposed to talk about the jewelry but instead conversed about breastfeeding, hemorrhoids and being a mama. The party guests thought that she was hilarious, and before she knew it, she was booked a year in-advance.  

The jewelry company saw what was happening and asked her to speak at their sales rallies. It was there that women started saying, “you need to do stand-up!” That gave Morgan the courage to really go for it! She finally had access to comedy clubs when her family moved to San Antonio in 2001, and her career in comedy quickly officially got underway. 

Morgan’s comedy has landed her at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and has brought her development deals for her own sitcom with ABC and Warner Brothers, writer/producer Matt Williams (Rosanne and Home Improvement), TV Land and with Sony Television. 

Morgan has garnered over 3M followers across social media and her popular online stand-up special, So Yummy, has reached over 50M views on YouTube. Her fan base continues to grow with her relatability as she discusses everything from being a housewife, sharing Jell-O recipes to having a new grandbaby. Morgan has appeared on NewsHour on PBS,  Today Show on NBC, Sherri, The Kelly Clarkson Show, The View, and Nick at Nite’s Funniest Mom.

Now that her children are grown, Morgan is moving full steam ahead with a career rooted in her everyday comedy. In December 2022, she concluded The Big Panty Tour with Outback Presents which spanned 100+ shows in theaters across the U.S.  She released her first Netflix special, Leanne Morgan: I’m Every Woman, on April 11, 2023, to amazing reviews and viewership.  Her special was in the Top 10 on Netflix and is one of the highest watched specials on the platform in 2023.  She will continue this summer on her sold out theater and arena stand up tour called, Just Getting Started, and will next be seen on screen in the Amazon Prime feature, You’re Cordially Invited, starring alongside Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon, and directed/written by Nick Stoller.  Her first book, What in the World?, is set to be published by Random House/Convergent in September 2024. The tour’s name was inspired by Leanne’s career which started serendipitously 22 years ago when the mother of three realized her calling was in making people laugh. At midlife Leanne is truly just getting started and hopes that she can inspire others to feel the same. It’s never too late to start something that you love! 

The comedian’s unique brand of comedy is grounded in her relatability and her no holds barred descriptions of motherhood (i.e.; What to do when puberty turns your children into monsters), dieting (i.e.; When it’s almost summer and you don’t have a bikini body), and marriage (i.e.; Two things that make a man happy), etc. all delivered with her sweet Southern charm.

A seasoned comedian with a uniquely Southern charm, Leanne Morgan tells stories that are as relatable as they are hilarious. Raised in rural Appalachia, Morgan was a stay-at-home wife and mother of three who caught the comedy bug while trying to entertain customers for her short-lived jewelry business. One of my favorite comedians is bringing her hilarious brand of southern, parenting, married, best friend, and menopausal humor to Evansville in 2023.

Leanne Morgan will be at the Old National Events Plaza on Friday, March 24th, 2023, and I'm so excited. She speaks my language. In fact, I think she's my comedy spirit sister. Imagine Leanne Morgan and Leslie Morgan just sitting around laughing about life. Leanne is my dream best friend.

As a young mother, Leanne started selling jewelry at home parties. As the story goes, instead of focusing on the jewelry, she entertained the women with her very relatable comedy. After so many people told her she should do stand-up comedy, she gave it a try.

After moving from Tennessee to Texas, her career took off. Today she is one of the most sought-after and popular comedians in Hollywood.

After discovering her passion for stand-up comedy later in life and finding the time and confidence to pursue her dream, Leanne Morgan has cemented herself as a must-watch comedian. 

Leanne was feeling the lure of Hollywood after graduating high school, yet the idea of moving there was unheard of and too daunting for a country girl who had never been away from home. She enrolled in college at The University of Tennessee, where she graduated (by the skin of her teeth) with a degree in Child and Family Studies. 

Shortly after, she married her husband, Chuck, and they moved to Bean Station, Tennessee located in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. 

To stay busy after having her first baby, Morgan started selling jewelry at home parties. She was supposed to talk about the jewelry but instead conversed about breastfeeding, hemorrhoids and being a mama. The party guests thought that she was hilarious, and before she knew it, she was booked a year in-advance.   

The jewelry company saw what was happening and asked her to speak at their sales rallies. It was there that women started saying, “you need to do stand-up!” That gave Morgan the courage to really go for it! Leanne Morgan to Lead Netflix Multi-Cam Comedy Series From Chuck Lorre

Leanne Morgan is set to star in a multi-cam comedy series at Netflix that boasts Chuck Lorre as one of its co-creators, Variety has learned.

Morgan co-created the series with Lorre and Susan McMartin. Netflix has given the untitled show a 16-episode order, while also commissioning two more stand up specials from Morgan. That will mark her second and third specials at the streamer following 2023's "I'm Every Woman."

"I've dreamed of this since childhood, and I can't believe it has come true! When I started comedy 25 years ago, my goal was to be a part of a sitcom," Morgan said. "It just goes to show you it's never too late, and dreams do come true. I'm a grandmama from Tennessee, and now I have a TV show with Chuck Lorre and Netflix. What in the world!?"

The official logline for the series states, "Leanne's life takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you're a grandmother and in menopause isn't exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad."

"If you've seen even ten seconds of Leanne Morgan's stand up then you know what a unique comedic force she is," Lorre said. "The theme of starting over is universal, and I cannot think of anyone better to combine heart and comedy than Leanne. I knew I had to work with her, and I'm so excited to bring this story to Netflix."

Morgan, Lorre, and McMartin all serve as executive producers on the series along with Judi Marmel. Chuck Lorre Productions produces in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Lorre is under an overall deal.

"We're so thrilled to deepen our partnership with Leanne Morgan, whose singular and hilarious voice hooked viewers with her debut Netflix special last year, and to reunite with the legendary Chuck Lorre," said Tracey Pakosta, Netflix's head of comedy. "We're looking forward to their collaboration on Netflix's next big comedy series."

Morgan was named one of Variety's 10 Comics to Watch in 2023. In addition to her flourishing stand up career, she is also set to appear in the upcoming Amazon comedy film "You're Cordially Invited" alongside Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell.

She is repped by Levity, UTA, and Gregg Gellman & Cary Dobkin.

This will mark Lorre's second multi-cam at Netflix and third series with the streamer overall. He previously co-created the multi-cam comedy "Disjointed" with David Javerbaum, which starred Kathy Bates as the owner of a Los Angeles marijuana dispensary. Lorre also created the Golden Globe-winning single-camera series "The Kominsky Method" starring Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. This is also the second multi-cam order for Lorre in recent months, as CBS has ordered a "Young Sheldon" spinoff centered on Georgie and Mandy for the 2024-2025 broadcast season.

Lorre is one of the most successful producers in TV history. In the past 20 years he has co-created and executive produced shows including long-running hits like "The Big Bang Theory," "Two and Half Men," "Mom," and "Young Sheldon."

Netflix has now ordered two broadcast television style shows since the beginning of the year. In February, they commissioned the drama "Pulse" set in a Miami hospital, which will be Netflix's first attempt at a medical procedural.

Netflix is investing in Leanne Morgan .

The streamer has handed out a 16-episode, straight-to-series order for an untitled multicamera comedy starring the stand-up comedian. Comedy kingpin Chuck Lorre ( Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men ) co-created the series alongside Morgan and Susan McMartin.

Morgan broke out thanks in large part to her 2023 Netflix stand-up special I’m Every Woman, which reached the top 10 comedy specials on the streamer. The Tennessee native has been in the comedy industry for 25 years and started out playing local comedy clubs before rising to stardom with her Netflix special. She next will appear in the Amazon feature film You’re Cordially Invited, opposite Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.

The series hails from Warner Bros. Television, where Lorre and his Chuck Lorre Productions banner have been based for decades with an overall deal. The Morgan vehicle marks the latest collaboration for Lorre with Netflix, following Disjointed and The Kominsky Method. The prolific writer-producer is saying farewell to CBS comedies Young Sheldon and Bob Hearts Abishola this season and has already landed a spinoff of the former at the network for next season. Additionally, his Max comedy Bookie has been renewed for a second season and he’s prepping another offshoot of Big Bang Theory, reportedly also for the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed platform.

The Morgan comedy gives the streamer a big, broad comedy at a time when Netflix is looking for programming that can appeal to a wide swath of subscribers. Lorre co-created Big Bang Theory, which ranks as television’s longest-running multicamera comedy in history. Netflix’s track record with multicams includes Fuller House, The Ranch, One Day at a Time, Lorre’s Disjointed and scores of others.

Tarja recently released her first greatest hits album: “Best of Tarja – Living the Dream”. Tarja chose the songs for the album, most of them fans’ favorites and her own preferred ones.
