The Lake Atitlan tour by Elizabeth Bells was an absolute scam and a nightmare for varios reasons, like: 1. Although we booked the tour with Elizabeth Bell, we didn’t have the tour with anyone from her team. We were allocated to another tour operator (Magic Travel) without any advise. 2. We paid $124 per person for the tour, while other people on the same tour paid $80. Prices should be equal for everyone, why did we pay +50% more than some others for the SAME tour? 3. The tour was supposed to start at 05:30 and it was supposed to include hotel pick-up. However, none of these things happened: they made everyone go to a specific location of their convenience (although the van literally passed in front of our hotel once the tour started) and we didn’t depart until 30 min later, at 6AM, although everyone was ready to go at 05:30. 4. As the tour started late, they made everyone rush in all the locations. The tour included breakfast but I didn’t even have time to finish my coffee because they shortened everything due to the late start. I highly advise not booking any tour in Guatemala with Elizabeth Bell, as prices are really high (and not the same for everyone) plus they don’t provide what it states in the tour description. From pickup at my hotel to Flores and Tikal and back to Antigua, it was smooth as glass. Elizabeth’s vehicles are always clean and well maintained. Her drivers are professional and on time. Particularly noteworthy was the transportation. To and from the airports was easy. But, the thing I really appreciated was the transportation she arranged inside Tikal. In addition to a private guide, her team arranged a vehicle to drive from the parking lot to the plaza/temple area. Nice touch since I am not 16 anymore. I would not have thought to ask for that. It saved about a 20 - 30 minute walk. It is obvious they have done this for quite a while and they do it well. I will do this again! Thanks for the memorable trip. Read more Written December 3, 2023

The drive to the lake was good in that the driver drove safely, the bus was comfortable and the seats had headrests. However, coming back was horrendous… the driver was constantly on his phone and driving with one hand, had to pass out every car/bus he came close to - be it around bends going up hills he didn’t care. Our accommodations were beautiful- Naïf boutique hotel. Wonderful service and terrific food and shopping around the town. From there went went to Panajachel and took the lake tour around Lake Atitlan. The drives around the sites were confortable in modern vans. The country side is beautiful, sometimes with the clouds below us. We also went to market day in Chichicastenango and stayed one night at an incredibly historic hotel. We were there for the voting for all the new government positions so we saw many people from different villages. Our next 2 days were at the Pacific resort in Monterico with black sand beaches. I just completed a tour of Tikal National Park, scheduled thru Antigua Tours. It was nothing short of amazing. Elizabeth and her team did all the heavy lifting. This included all transportation, hotel accommodations, and a private guide at the Park. Louis, the guide, was very knowledgeable and let us go at our pace. There was time on the Island of Flores a day before and after the tour thru Tikal. My job? It was the greatest time I have had in quite a while. I just enjoyed and didn’t have to do the work. Both experiences were absolute perfection every step of the way. The shuttle that Estuardo booked for me was clean, safe, and timely. The volcano hike included an excellent driver, an English speaking tour guide to take us up, and a fabulous packed lunch from Cafe Condeza. It was nice to work with a company that was strait forward with pricing and with information. Shuttle to the airport was on time and pleasant. First day we arrived our trip had been moved to a future date by the airline without notifying us. Antigua tours made arrangements for us to go the next day and was apologetic for the confusion.
