Dubai: UAE residents planning to invite their friends or family to the country can apply for a 90-day single or multiple-entry visit visa through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP).

This service can be accessed by residents if they have a residence visa issued in the emirates of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain.

According to ICP, the visitor must be a first or second-degree relative of an expat residing in the UAE. 

Here are the details.

Where can I apply for the three month visit visa?

The visa application can be made through three channels:

1. The ICP Smart Services website: smartservices.icp.gov.ae 2. The ICP mobile app – ‘UAEICP’, which is available for Apple and Android devices. 3. A typing centre authorised by ICP – you can find the list of approved typing centres in each Emirate by visiting this link: https://icp.gov.ae/en/typing-offices/

Documents required

If you are planning to apply for the visa for your family member or a friend, you would need to submit the following documents:

• Recent passport size coloured photograph of the relative or friend. • Proof of kinship (birth or marriage certificate) – this is required in case you are sponsoring your family member’s visit visa. • A copy of the relative’s or friend’s valid passport. • A copy of your Emirates ID. • Proof of residence for the sponsored. Here you may be able to provide your rental contract or details of the hotel reservation for the relative or friend. • Copy of the return ticket.

According to the ICP, you may be asked to provide additional documents, depending on the information entered in the application.

How much does the visa cost?

As per ICP, the final cost of the visa would depend on the application details and the sponsor must pay a security deposit. Here is an estimated cost breakdown, as per the authority:

• Security deposit: Dh1,025. The  financial guarantee is refundable if the visa is not approved. • Request fees: Dh100 • Issue fees: Dh300 • E-services fees: Dh28 • ICP fees: Dh22 • Smart services fee: Dh100 Total: Dh1,575

How to apply for the visa online

To apply for the visit visa through the ICP Smart Services platform, you must first visit this link: https://smartservices.icp.gov.ae/echannels/web/client/default.html#/login and follow the steps below:

1. Log in using your UAE Pass , or through an ICP online account, if you already have one. 2. Once you are logged in, you will be transferred to a personal dashboard on the app. 3. Next, click on the ICP department in your Emirate, for example - Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship\Abu Dhabi or Sharjah. 4. Then, search for the ‘Visit Visa For Friend or Relative 90 Days (Single Entry) – Issue’ in the search bar. The service will appear below. 5. Click on ‘Start Service’ 6. Fill in the application and upload the required documents. 7. Next, pay the service fee using a credit or debit card.

Once you have made the payment, you will receive a confirmation from ICP that the application has been submitted. According to the ICP call centre – 600522222, it will take approximately two to five business days for a visit visa to be issued, once approved. You will receive an e-visa on your the email address that you have provided in the application form.

Do I need a visa for the UAE?

UAE visa on arrival

Preapproved uae visas, prearranged uae visas, sponsoring someone to visit the uae, contact information, 30-day visit eligibility.

If you are a passport holder of the below country or territory, no advance visa arrangements are required to visit the UAE. Simply disembark your flight at Dubai International and proceed to immigration, where your passport will be stamped with a 30-day visit visa free of charge.

90-day visit eligibility

If you are a passport holder of one of the below countries or territories, your passport will be stamped with a multiple entry 90-day visit visa that's valid for 6 months from the date of issue, and for a stay of 90 days in total. Citizens of the below European countries are also entitled to apply for a pre-arranged visit visa if their 90-day visa on arrival has been fully utilized.

180-day visit eligibility

If you hold a Mexican passport you’re eligible for a multiple entry 180-day visit visa that's valid for 6 months from the date of issue, and for a stay of 180 days in total.

Dubai immigration procedures

As an added security measure, Immigration Authorities at Dubai International are now conducting random visual screening for visitors to Dubai.

Visitors asked to proceed for visual screening are required to present a hard copy of their visa or a printed version of the visa number confirmation page at the screening counter. If you do not have a copy of your visa with you, a charge of AED 30 per copy applies, payable only in AED.

Important information

Before you travel to the UAE, check visa requirements and make sure you have a valid visa if needed and that your passport is valid for the minimum required period. Holders of non-standard passports and travel documents may also have different entry requirements: find out if you need to apply for a visa and other passport requirements.

As of April 29, 2016, GCC residence permit holders will need to apply for a UAE visa before arriving in Dubai.

New visit entry permit to the UAE for Indian nationals

From January 7, 2024, eligible Indian nationals with a normal passport valid for a minimum of six months can obtain a single entry, 14-day visa on arrival. A fee of USD 63 applies.

• Indian passport holder with USA visa valid for a minimum of six months
• Indian passport holder with USA green card valid for a minimum of six months
• Indian passport holder with UK residence card valid for a minimum of six months
• Indian passport holder with EU residence card from the following countries valid for a minimum of six months

How and where to apply for a preapproved UAE visa

Eligible Indian nationals can apply for their UAE entry permit on emirates.com through Manage your booking .

Rules and conditions

• Visa fees must be paid upon application.
• Additional visa processing fees apply.
• The passenger must travel to and from Dubai on Emirates or codeshare flights only.
• Visa fees are nonrefundable.
• The ticket is non-refundable if the visa has been issued and utilized.
• Visa processing time is approximately 3 to 4 working days.
• Entry into the UAE is subject to immigration approval.
• All visas are valid to enter Dubai for 60 days from the date of issue, except the 96-hour and 48-hour visas, which are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

Nationals of countries requiring a prearranged UAE visa can now apply and pay for their visas online through emirates.com.

If you are traveling to or stopping over in Dubai with Emirates, you can submit an application and receive your UAE visa entirely online—without having to submit your passport for stamping. You can apply for your UAE visa through our Manage your booking after you book your Emirates flight. VFS processing fees apply. For more information please visit VFS Global.

The online visa application service is available for residents and nationals of many countries around the world. Find out if you can apply for a UAE visa. Applicants' passports must have at least six months' validity as of the date of travel to Dubai and must be machine-readable; handwritten passports are not accepted.

This service is only available to passengers with a confirmed Emirates booking where an Emirates ticket has already been issued and the flight itinerary already includes the desired time in Dubai. The itinerary into and out of Dubai should be on one ticket (PNR), and these flights must be Emirates flights. Note that itineraries including flights to or from Dubai on other carriers are not eligible for online visa service.

A minimum of 4 international working days prior to arrival in Dubai is required; however, Emirates recommends that online applications be made as early as possible.

Apply in the UAE

If you have a family member or near relative who is a UAE resident, they can apply for a visa on your behalf at any of our ticketing offices in the UAE. Please note that this service is only available to residents of the UAE.

2 Types of 3 Months Visa

There are 2 types of 3 months multiple entry visas. The requirement to get each type depends on your nationality.

1. 3 Months Multiple entry visa-on-arrival (Free)

You can get the 3 months multiple-entry visa on arrival if you are a European passport holder. The validity of the visa is 90 days.

Some of the countries eligible to apply for this visa include; Argentina, Austria, Bahamas Islands, Barbados, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, etc.

2. 3 Months Multiple entry prepaid visa (Paid)

Any other nationalities not mentioned in the visa-on-arrival list can apply for the 3 months multiple entry prepaid visas. The cost is 2250 AED for all nationals.

Documents Required for a 3 Months Multiple Entry Dubai Visa

The required documents when applying for 3 months multiple entry Dubai visa are;

Overstaying Fine

No grace period is given for both 3 months multi-entry visas. Travelers who are allowed to stay in the UAE for ninety days do not get a grace period.

Switching to Employment visa

You can change your visa from the 3 months multiple entry visa to a residence or employment visa while in UAE without having to exit the country.

The main requirement is you have a sponsor. The sponsor can be an organization, a UAE resident (family or friend), a Tourist Company, airlines, or any other organization based in the country.

• For the 3-month single entry visit visa, the cost you will have to cover is AED 600 but it is not extendable.
• For the 3-month multiple entry visit visa, the cost you will need to cover is AED 1,740 but it is not extendable.

Thus, since the Dubai visit visa price varies depending on the type, you should carefully analyze which one you need.

Medical Insurance of UAE 3 Months Visit Visa

You cannot purchase health insurance in the Emirates with a visit visa of any type, including a 3-month visa. However, you can purchase travel insurance that has medical coverage with your tourist visa or visit to the country. This insurance is for visitors from various countries, for which you must present the documentation along with the visa application.

Nevertheless, this type of insurance does not entitle you to free medical care during your trip to the UAE. Still, through the said insurance, you will not have to spend more in case of an emergency. Additionally, you may be covered for medical expenses up to AED 150,000, although certain accidents and illnesses are excluded.

On the other hand, the cost of insurance varies according to certain conditions, among which are:

• Duration of stay in the country

There are 3 ways to apply for a 3-month visit visa to the UAE, on the GDRFA website or mobile app, or at an AMER centre. In the first two cases, the procedure is as we will describe it below:

• If you are applying for the first time, register on the website.
• Then select single or multiple entry visa application service for a 3-month visit visa.
• Fill out all information correctly and submit the required documents.
• Pay the UAE visit visa price.
• Finally, submit the application.

If you fill out the form correctly, send the necessary documents, and pay the fee, you just have to wait for approval.

Application at an Amer center

There is the possibility of submitting the 90-day visa application in person through one of the AMER centers. The procedure is the next:

• Go to the AMER center most convenient for you.
• At the reception, you must apply for the long-term visit visa service.
• Submit the necessary documents.
• Pay the UAE 3 months visit visa price.
• Submit your request.

If approved, you will receive a notification to the email address you provided with your visa application. However, if you are missing any documents, you will have a maximum of 30 days to submit those requested again. Therefore, if you do not provide the said documents, they will automatically cancel your application and you will have to apply from the beginning.

• US National

It would be better for your nephew to stay till flight operations resume.

My friend is on visit visa for 90 days for employment purpose. But his visa will expire on 19th April. UAE is allowing for visa extension so will he be still eligible to search Job on extended visa by UAE or he has to apply for new visa himself

My mother-in-law is staying in Abu Dhabi and she is having visit visa until 15-04-2020. Due to suspension of flights my aunty is unable to travel India. As per the UAE latest rules, three months exemption on visit visa without exit UAE.

So please confirm me, without extending my aunty visit visa is she can able to stay in UAE during this exemption period. Please confirm me also, is it necessary to do visit visa renewal or extension in exemption period.

Perhaps you already live in this gorgeous city and want to share it with family and friends, but aren’t sure how to go about securing the ever-important visa. For some it’s as easy as showing up at the airport, for others, there is a process that needs to be followed.

Here is everything you need to know about getting a tourist visa for Dubai.

No visa required

Citizens of the GCC areas do not require any sort of visa to enter Dubai. You simply need to provide your passport or your national ID at the point of entry and you will be granted entrance.

Visa on arrival

If you fall into this category, you’re in luck because there are certain countries that can simply arrive at Dubai International Airport and receive a tourist visa, on arrival.

There are a total of 50 countries that receive visas on arrival. Some include The United Kingdom (UK), The United States of America (USA), and countries that are part of the EU. For some countries you will be eligible for a 30-day visa, and for others a 90-day visa, with the possibility of extension.

Indian citizens who are holders of tourist visas from the USA, green cards, or have a residence visa in the UK or EU will also receive a visa on arrival, for 14 days, provided that the green card and residence visas have been valid for more than six months.

If you are a Mexican passport holder, you will be granted a multiple-entry visa on arrival. Your visa is valid for up to 180 days and is valid for six months from the date that the visa has been issued.

The list of countries that are able to attain a tourist visa on arrival in Dubai or the UAE may change from time to time and so you can easily see if you are eligible for a tourist visa on arrival by following the steps here .

Pre-arranged visa

When you do not fall under the above categories that means you need to apply for a tourist visa before you enter Dubai. This can be done in a number of ways.

You can easily apply directly through certain airlines including FlyDubai and Emirates . Alternatively, you can organise a tourist visa through licensed travel agents, tour operators and the hotel you will be staying at.

It is important to note that you cannot apply for a tourist visa through the UAE Embassy, one of the organisers mentioned above will apply for your visa on your behalf through the visa-issuing authorities here in Dubai.
