Minnesota beach makes travel and leisure's top beaches in the country list.

DULUTH — Kathy Cargill might soon have some real estate competition on Park Point.

Travel and Leisure magazine put the point's seven miles of beach, the longest freshwater sandbar in the world, on a list of the 25 best beaches in the country.

Citing its "ocean locale" feel and views of the hillside city and Lake Superior, the magazine also praised the area's spectacular sunrises.

The popular neighborhood has been a major topic of conversation in Duluth and beyond in recent months, with Cargill's string of property acquisitions along the point.

For more than a year, a limited liability company run by Cargill has purchased property after property on the sandbar that separates Lake Superior and the mouth of the St. Louis River. The home purchases number more than a dozen and parcels nearly two dozen.

Cargill is the wife of an heir to the global Cargill company's fortune. Her purchases led to a public squabble with Mayor Roger Reinert , as he attempted to learn of her plans for those properties.

Several of the homes have been torn down, many bought well over market price. Duluthians and residents of the point worry about losing access to the public beach, increases to property values and further erosion and damage to the delicate sandbar.

It's not the first time the magazine has given the city love. Park Point was on a 2022 list of best beaches, and the city was ranked as having one of the best adventure experiences nationwide last year.

Minnesota Vikings draft picks: Grades for selections in 2024 NFL Draft

The Minnesota Vikings are at an important point heading into the 2024 NFL Draft .

Minnesota's quarterback situation is unsettled after Kirk Cousins left for Atlanta in free agency. The Vikings are among a handful of teams picking in the teens in the first round who could trade up into the top 10 for a quarterback. But is there a quarterback that fits coach Kevin O'Connell?

Here's the Vikings' picks, selections and grades for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Minnesota Vikings 2024 NFL Draft picks

1st round, no. 10 overall (from ny jets) | jj mccarthy, qb, michigan.

Instant grade:  C-plus

Analysis:  McCarthy will have to shoulder more of a load once he does play for the Vikings, but I do like that he will be playing for Kevin O'Connell. He's not going to wow with his arm strength and off-script plays, but he's got some ability there. Just how much, we'll find out.

TRADE:  Minnesota traded the No. 11 overall pick, a 2024 fourth-round pick and a 2024 fifth-round pick to the Jets for No. 10 and No. 203 overall, per ESPN.

1st round, No. 17 overall (from Jacksonville) | Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama

Instant grade:  A

Analysis:  I thought Turner being a top-10 pick was a reach, and this point in the first round makes a lot more sense. Turner can turn speed to power off the edge very effectively, but he needs to add more pass-rush moves to be a complete game-wrecker. He has big-money potential.

TRADE: Jacksonville traded the No. 17 overall pick to Minnesota for the No. 23 overall pick, a 2024 fifth-round pick, a 2025 third-round pick and a 2025 fourth-round pick, per ESPN.

4th round, No. 108 overall | Khyree Jackson, CB, Oregon

Dallas Cowboys draft picks: Grades for selections in 2024 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys have many organizational questions, most that won't be answered by this weekend's NFL Draft .

Dak Prescott and coach Mike McCarthy both enter contract seasons, and owner Jerry Jones hasn't shown much public interest in extending either heading into the fall. Given last year's stunning home loss to Green Bay in the wild card round, it's no surprise.

How does Dallas get over the hump? Can they?

Here's the Cowboys' picks, selections and grades for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Dallas Cowboys 2024 NFL Draft picks

1st round, no. 29 overall (from detroit) | tyler guyton, ot, oklahoma.

Instant grade:  B

Analysis:  Guyton is another prototypical tackle, but he needs to add play strength and experience. Dallas needed an offensive tackle, and Guyton is the last available in the second tier.

2nd round, No. 56 overall | Marshawn Kneeland, EDGE, Western Michigan

Instant grade:  C-plus

Analysis:  For an edge rusher in the MAC to be selected in the top two rounds, there needed to be more production and dominance for a guy that relies on physicality over athleticism. How Dallas uses him will dictate whether this pick can work out for team and player. There is still more progression for Kneeland, but his ceiling is limited by the athleticism.

3rd round, No. 73 overall (from Minnesota via Detroit) | Cooper Beebe, OL, Kansas State

Analysis:  Beebe might struggle inside against longer defenders in pass protection, but is a physical guard.

3rd round, No. 87 overall | Marist Liufau, LB, Notre Dame

Instant grade:  C-minus

Analysis:  Liufau was a five-year college player with OK production in 2023. Special teams is his likely rookie-year contribution.

5th round, No. 174 overall (compensatory) | Caelen Carson, CB, Wake Forest

6th round, no. 216 overall (compensatory) | ryan flournoy, wr, southeast missouri state, 7th round, no. 233 overall (from las vegas) | nathan thomas, ol, louisiana, 7th round, no. 244 overall | justin rogers, dl, auburn, nfl draft 2024 team-by-team picks, grades.

2024 NFL Draft: Jaguars Trade Down With Minnesota Vikings

The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded down.

Originally holding the No. 17 pick, the Jaguars traded down with the Minnesota Vikings.

By trading the No. 17 pick, the Jaguars have gained the No. 23 pick, a 2024 fifth-round pick (No. 167), a 2025 third-round pick, and a 2025 fourth-round pick.

The Jaguars traded down twice in last year's first round, picking up multiple Day 3 picks before selecting Oklahoma right tackle Anton Harrison.

With no cornerbacks yet off the board, the Jaguars could have a shot to take the drafts top cornerback at No. 23. The Jaguars will also enter next year with plus draft capital, plus the chance to make trades for veterans now that they have more picks ... like a certain receiver from San Francisco, perhaps.

“Yeah, there’s a lot, as you know, that goes into it. We feel good about the group that’s there at different positions that we’re focused in on a little bit," Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said last week. "But you don’t know what’s going to happen, you really aren’t going to know what we’re going to do until maybe the 12th or 13th pick. Then, we’ll look at the opportunity to potentially move up. If we get to 16 like we did last year, then somebody calls and there’s a chance to move back one or two, you just don’t know. You’re playing it on game day.”

"The only thing we can control is becalculated on if we really target someone and we really feel we need to make a run, let’s say get up to 12, get up to 13, we’ll be prepared to do that if the right person is there. Look at the other side, like we did a year ago, we trade back twice and get the same player. There’s so many things that can happen, you just got to go in prepared. The board is going to fall the way it falls; you can’t change that. You’ve just got to be ready for everything.”
