BAD OMENS announce U.S. tour with ERRA and INVENT ANIMATE

Bad Omens are on a tear right now. The melodic metalcore band closed out 2022 with a completely sold-out U.S. headlining tour, and right now they're over in Europe kicking ass on an equally sold-out journey. Fortunately, North American fans will get another chance to see them later this spring. Today (February 13th), the band led by singer Noah Sebastian have announced a spring U.S. tour with support from their pals in Erra and Invent Animate.

The run kicks off May 17th in Birmingham, Alabama, and will mostly hit cities throughout the South and Midwest before wrapping up June 4th in Wichita, Kansas. Bad Omens Book New 2023 U.S. Tour Dates + Festival Appearances

Bad Omens are currently on tour in Europe, but they'll be hitting the road in the U.S. again soon as they've just booked a new set of 2023 tour dates and festival appearances.

The new set of shows kicks off May 4 at 107.9's KBPI Birthday Bash in Greenwood Village, Colo., and will conclude June 4 in Wichita, Kansas. Of the 17-date run, five are festival appearances, including New Jersey's Bamboozle , Ohio's Sonic Temple and 105.7's Pointfest in St. Louis, Mo. Fellow rockers  Erra and Invent Animate will serve as support throughout the run.

See the full list of dates below. Tickets go on sale this Friday. Feb. 17 at 11AM ET.

Bad Omens have become one of the most buzzworthy bands in rock 'n' roll las of late, especially after their song "Just Pretend" went viral on TikTok this past fall. They're one of several bands that made Pandora's "Artists to Watch" list for 2023, alongside Spiritbox , Architects , Memphis May Fire and a few others.

After their current European run is over, Bad Omens will head to Australia for a handful of dates in March. In addition to the aforementioned festival performances, they'll also play the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Virginia this September. See their full itinerary on their website .

As ‘Sex and the City’ Ages, Some Find the Cosmo Glass Half-Empty

As the show became more widely available on Netflix, younger viewers have watched it with a critical eye. But its longtime millennial and Gen X fans can’t quit.

Most weeks, hundreds of people board a “Sex and the City” themed bus in Manhattan that takes them to the show’s most recognizable sites: Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment, her favorite brunch spot, a sex shop in the West Village. The tour usually ends with — what else? — a Cosmopolitan.

“It never gets old,” said Georgette Blau, the owner of On Location Tours. It’s a three-and-a-half-hour entry into an aspirational world many of the riders had been watching for decades, she said.

Twenty years since the series finale of “Sex and the City” aired, a new generation of television watchers has grown into adulthood. After all of the episodes were released on Netflix this month, media watchers wondered how the show — and Carrie’s behavior — might hold up for Gen Z.

Would they be able to handle the occasional raunchiness of the show, the sometimes toxic relationships? Were the references outdated? “ Can Gen Z Even Handle Sex and the City ?” Vanity Fair asked. (For its part, Gen Z seems to vacillate between being uninterested and lightly appalled about what they consider to be a period piece .)

The show had a very different effect on its longtime fans, many of them a generation or two older. When it aired, “Sex and the City” changed the conversation around how women dated, developed friendships and moved about the world in their 30s and 40s.

Even if some of the show’s character arcs aged poorly, many of its original fans still relate to Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda, no matter how unrealistic it may have been to live on the Upper East Side with a walk-in closet full of Manolo Blahniks on the salary of a weekly newspaper columnist.

“If Carrie got into therapy, there’d be no show,” said Anna Roisman, a comedian and superfan. “She’d be like, ‘Guys, I am healed.’”

In the ensuing two decades, the show’s super fans haven’t stopped analyzing and discussing it. A genre of TikTok videos dissects why Carrie was a bad friend, and why Samantha was a good one . The show has inspired dozens of podcasts . And in 2021, HBO launched “And Just Like That …” in which the friends — minus Samantha — navigate their 50s. Many fans said that the show had even inspired their decisions to move to a big city like London or New York.

In the first week of the show’s debut on Netflix , people spent 12.3 million hours watching “Sex and the City,” and it was in the platform’s Top 10 television shows in 42 countries, including the United States, according to Netflix.

For Candace Bushnell , the creative force behind “Sex and the City,” the show’s appeal comes from still being relatable while serving up nostalgia.

“There was a romance to dating that younger women tell me doesn’t really exist anymore,” Bushnell said in a phone interview. “Now internet dating and using dating apps — it feels more like a job.”

For Carrie and her friends, dating is more of a pastime: They meet men at gallery openings, cocktail parties, book launches, a Yankees game, the gym, and more. The four of them also have weekly brunches and endless cocktails where they dish about their latest exploits.

Bushnell, who is touring her one-woman show “True Tales of Sex, Success and Sex and the City,” said that the show gave people a new way of looking at their romantic lives.

The test of time is a hard one to pass, and the show’s record is far from perfect. But its frank discussions of sex and gendered expectations seemed to open doors for other shows after it, including “Girls” and “Insecure,” and helped change the image of single women in their 30s.

“Suddenly, single womanhood was glamorous,” said Jennifer Armstrong, the author of “Sex and the City and Us.” “This was no small thing, and I think it remains resonant.”

Before “Sex and the City,” being a single woman was perceived very differently, Bushnell said. “People really felt like there was something wrong with you.”

For longtime fans who are now Carrie’s age or older, the show has gone from aspirational to relatable to recognizable — again, minus those hundreds of pairs of stilettos.

Watching the show now, Marta Barberini, 37, said, “you’re not talking about your future self; you’re talking about your present self.”

Barberini was such a fan that, in 2008, she took the “Sex and the City” hot spots tour. On that bus, she met a friend who would later introduce her to her life partner. The show, Barberini said, was “a turning point in my life.”

The show’s role similarly changed over time for Roisman, the longtime fan and comedian in New York City whose impression of Steve (Miranda’s boyfriend, then not boyfriend, then father of her child and eventually husband) has been widely shared.

Roisman, a self-described proud millennial, said she first watched “Sex and the City” as a child with her parents (“so inappropriate!”). As she grew older, she increasingly related to the characters and felt less alone in the challenges that work and dating brought.

By now, most fans in their 30s and 40s have been through at least some of the heartbreak, fertility issues or professional challenges depicted on the show.

Tanya Bailey, 48, who recently watched Sarah Jessica Parker perform onstage in “Plaza Suite” in London, said she rewatched “Sex and the City” often and related mostly to Carrie’s quest for romantic love.

“She’s had failed relationships, so have I,” Bailey said. “It makes you think that it’s not only you.”

The additional optional tours were also good, we did the Metro tour which I highly recommend, we also paid for the Kremlin tour. The hop on hop off has three different lines all included. They suggested we do the 1 hour boat trip and said they would drop us to the dock. 1) they dropped us in the wrong place 2) they were lost because of the marathon Then the boat, after we finally found it: 1) stinking fumes, actually gagging 2) no commentary, in fact, no interaction unless you begged 3) offered us 2 for 1 icecreams as they had melted and refrozen as the fridge gets turned off at night Honestly, we enjoyed the afternoon in the boat but spent all of it laughing at just how awful it was!!! The red route is quite exciting and takes about an hour. The bus comes every 10 to 15 minutes. However the other two routes take about two hours each and buses come every 30 to 40 minute period. If the bus is full then you have to wait at the stop for the next bus. So personally I feel that not much can be seen this way. I definitely was not impressed. The boat element was wonderful, we saw some amazing parts of Moscow along the river side. The bus element was very disappointing as it only started at 10am and was finished by 6:30pm. It was extremely warm when we were there and it would have been great to do the tour in the cool of the day. There was also no air conditioning in the down stairs part of the bus. The ear phones were small and sometimes the commentary did not link up with the sites you were seeing. The green bus takes you on a longer route and ours took two and a half hours due to the heavy traffic. I would not recommend this trip unless it is raining or you want to fill in time. The girl on the picture-light blue bag-ask for 100 Rubles for show her the QR Code while I had the Booking and PIN number cause she must see the vessel name-Didn’t say nothing and after she said board any vessel. The traffic is quite heavy so it is a bit slow but there is not a lot they can do about it. We only did the red route. The bus didn't stop at many points. Were were unaware a couple of times at what point we were and missed them. Headphones and maps were provided. Would recommend one should check out the route map before going and decide which places to stop in advance, this way one can manage and enjoy the tour more and us it more effectively.! • WilliamDyer 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Poor service on boat and too many waiting times on buses For the price, you should expect at minimum English speaking tour guides with decent experience, but at least in my case that did not happen both in buses and boats. And in the boat even tough we were 90% English speaking tourist at least, the tour guide spoke 95% of the time in Russia, and only 3 sentences in English, I really counted how many times she spoke in English. And at the end she asks us if we have any questions? Of course I told her I couldn’t ask her anything since I didn’t understand 95% of what she was saying. The boat tour is not worth it, just take the bus that would be my advice. Second minus is the waiting times, in the boat they made us wait an hour before it departed, and in many stops with the buses waiting times of 20-30 minutes.
