Speed networking.

During the speed networking session you have the chance to network with all our award sponsors. The speed networking session will last 2h00, which should give you enough time to network with all of the attending partners as long as you arrive on time.

20h00 - 23h30

Belgian travel blog awards .

During the award show we offer our partners and nominees a seated dinner. We will create tables per category so that sponsoring partners and nominees are gathered at the same table - as much as possible. The final table setting will depend on the attending nominees and the current measures for events and restaurants.  ​

Closing cocktail & after party

After the award show, we like to offer partners and nominees to opportunity to network/hang out in a more casual setting. That's why our host region offers you a closing cocktail and our resident DJ provides the tunes. The perfect way to wrap up a successful day of networking and to enjoy the weekend!

BELGIUM’S TRAVEL BLOGGERS GATHER IN KURSAAL FOR AWARDS

Looking for travel tips? You would have done well to stop by the Kursaal on 16 March. Virtually every Belgian travel blogger was present at the seventh edition of the Belgian Travel awards, organised by Thx.agency. Every year, Belgium’s most prominent influencers, content creators and photographers compete for the iconic statuettes awarded to the winners in a diversity of categories such as ‘Adventure’, ‘Gastronomy’ and ‘Travelling with Kids’. Jo Thuys, Account Director at Thx.agency, looks back on the programme.

Thuys : ‘Every year, we go in search of a unique location. This is no easy feat, considering that travel bloggers have, by definition, already visited just about every popular destination. It is also more than just a festive gathering. We start with inspirational activities for our partners, followed by a speed-dating session for influencers and various partners in the travel industry. The awards are presented during an extensive dinner, and the event does, of course, conclude with a party.’ Thuys laughs, ‘We have plenty to celebrate!’

‘Ostend was a logical choice for us. The city has always been highly progressive when it comes to travel marketing. Just look at such groundbreaking concepts as the Ensor Year, The Crystal Ship and the Podcast Festival. We like to arrange a few activities for the travel bloggers during the day, and that makes Ostend a real treat. There’s more than enough here to tickle the fancies of culture vultures, nature lovers and foodies alike. We could also pull out all the stops in our choice of hotels, thanks to venues like the Andromeda, Les Cabanes and Upstairs.’

Belgian travel blog awards: along came an elephant populairste belgische reisblog.

08/03/2021- Afgelopen zaterdag vond de 4e editie van de Belgian Travel Blog Awards plaats. De jaarlijkse award show werd door de gekende omstandigheden tot een online event omgedoopt en was te volgen via een livestream op de website van de organisatie. Grote winnaar van de avond was Along Came an Elephant, de avontuurlijke reisblog van Marlo Delforge en Kristof Oliviers. Ook 8 andere bloggers/ reisfotografen/reisvideomakers vielen in de prijzen. 

De categorie met de meeste inschrijvingen, Best Staycation Story, ging naar Lien De Ruyck die met haar reisblog  Sonderling  ook afgelopen jaar al tweemaal in de prijzen viel. Met meer dan 200 inzendingen waren de Belgian Travel Blog Awards alweer een succes en dat in een zeer moeilijk reisjaar.

De Belgian Travel Blog Awards (voorheen ‘Bloggers UTD – the Travel Gathering) is een jaarlijks evenement, georganiseerd door het gespecialiseerde travel PR-bureau Sound of C. Elk jaar worden de beste Belgische reisbloggers en influencers beloond voor de reiscontent die ze hebben gecreëerd. Britta Baeke, hoofdredactrice van Travel Like A Pro.be & toeristisch vaktijdschrift Travel Express Benelux zetelde dit jaar al voor de derde keer in de professionele vakjury. Presentator en reisreporter Ben Roelants was voor het tweede jaar op rij de gastheer van de show.

Dat blijkt uit het aantal inzendingen voor de Belgian Travel Blog Awards, dat dit jaar zelfs boven de 200 uitstijgt. Wie worden de winnaars? En wat ontdekken onze bloggers in Namen?

Hey there, what’s up? I’m Ben Deleu, the photographer and travel writer behind Ben goes places ! I appreciate seeing you here and I hope my travel experiences will be helpful to you.

What to get from this blog?

I’m just a regular guy just like you, who happened to have traveled to over 50 countries. Here and there I picked up a thing or two I could share with my interested readers. So I decided to create Ben goes places . I’m your go-to guy for travel tips to get the most out of your holiday and tricks on how to make your trip more worth-wile. I’m into all kinds of trips really. I love getting up early to watch the sunrise on the edge of a cliff just as much as I enjoy the facilities a luxury hotel or cruise line has to offer. Boy, I’d hate it if one would be confined to only one type of trip for the rest of their lives!

How I started out

Around the time I started picking up a camera – about 9 years ago – my then-girlfriend and now-wife was living in Stockholm to complete her master’s degree. Each month, I flew over to visit. During that time, I was still at ‘clubbing-age’ so my friends and I would head over to Paris or London to rave in the coolest underground clubs. Apart from that, I traveled all over to get tattooed by famous artists, another passion of mine. The photos I took along the way, I posted on my Instagram account . People seemed to enjoy my work and one thing led to another.

Career and personal life

I’m a self-taught photographer but a few years back I decide to perfect my skills at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Belgium. In 2020, I was the winner of the Audience Choice Award and was a nominee for the Best Social Media Award at the Belgian Travel Blog Awards . My work has been sold to clients all over the world.

When I’m not traveling, I’m the head of Customs in one of Europe’s busiest ports. During weekends you can catch me drinking cocktails in my local bar. With my lovely wife and two fluffy feline friends, I live in a nice little town in Belgium. Here I spend my days mowing the lawn and quoting King of the Hill, a combination that works really well, I’ll tell you what !
