See recent posts by Krystin Arneson
There’s no shortage of choice when it comes to Caribbean islands (there are more than 7,000 to choose from), especially if romance is in the plans for your vacation. There’s a Caribbean island out there for any type of twosome, from those who want a luxe escape to those who prefer something with a little more local flavor. And if you’re looking for a total escape -- a.k.a. a vacation that requires a minimal amount of brainpower -- there are plenty of stunning all-inclusive resorts where all you have to do is show up and relax. We’ve rounded up some of the best Caribbean islands for couples -- and we picked the best hotel for romance. Read on to see our list of the best Caribbean islands for couples -- and get ready for love.
Before you leave for your Caribbean vacation, don't forget to double check our Caribbean packing list .
St. Lucia: Jade Mountain Resort
For couples who want to experience a little bit of everything — but also have the option to kick back and escape — St. Lucia makes a solid choice. The island is experiencing a tourism boom, and frankly it’s a wonder the world’s taken so long to catch on to this slice of lush island paradise. It offers incredible scenery courtesy of volcanic peaks, fantastic snorkeling, and scenic hiking if you’re up for a challenge. Perched on the edge of the island’s verdant flowering cliffsides, the adults-only Jade Mountain Resort is a place where you can officially switch off the world outside. Couples don’t have to lift a finger here, particularly if they book an all-inclusive package. Expect dedicated butlers, free daily yoga classes, memorable meals, and top-notch service all around.

Bahamas: The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, Bahamas
The Bahamas have long been on family vacation radars, but that doesn’t mean the islands don’t appeal to couples too. If you have kids in tow but still want to get away on your own, The Ocean Club is a fantastic kid-friendly hotel that has enough luxury for parents to feel like they’re catching a break (that Balinese-inspired spa!), while children ages 4 to 12 can hang out at the free Four Seasons kids’ club. Parents, meanwhile, can head to comfortable lounge chairs on the beach, take in a free yoga class, or pop open the bubbly delivered to the rooms each day. Still need to convince reluctant teens? Just let it slip that the resort featured in James Bond flick, Casino Royale .

Jamaica: The Caves
Jamaica has its fair share of crowded resorts, but for couples wanting to feel like a piece of the islands is actually theirs, The Caves is as close to a private island as you can get. The resort numbers just 12 private cottages, constructed from stone and turquoise carved wooden paneling, and are dotted along the tree-topped cliffs that overlook Negril’s blue waters. There’s no sandy beach (there is ocean access), but couples embracing an intimate, bohemian sense of romance won’t be disappointed. Think locavore dining, ocean-view saltwater pool, and private candlelit cave dining. The Aveda Amenity Spa is one of the best in the area, too. It’s small but mighty, and worth a trip for its signature Jamaican brown sugar body scrub alone.

St. Barts: Eden Rock
There are few Caribbean destinations as synonymous with luxury as St. Barts , and for good reason: For couples who love a bit of glamour on their holidays, the celebrity-favorite island is the perfect place to retreat. Eden Rock is located right on Nikki Beach, close to everything you need (and everywhere you want to see and be seen): shopping, dining, and the airport. It’s popular with a certain set, too — Kate Middleton’s family has been reported to vacation here (it’s owned by Pippa’s in-laws) — but has the credentials to back it up, including a restaurant headed by celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. It certainly has plenty to appeal to couples looking for a personalized resort experience, from individual welcome notes to in-room spa treatments.

Turks and Caicos: COMO Parrot Cay
Holiday makers flock to Turks and Caicos for relaxing beach vacations, but the island has plenty to offer couples who are into wellness vacations — particularly if you book a stay at COMO Parrot Cay , which meets luxury at its normal standard and then takes it to a whole next level. The idyllic resort has a health-focused spa menu at its restaurants, featuring produce grown on-site, and personal trainers are on call to help you work up that vacation workout sweat. That is, of course, if you can tear yourself away from the infinity pool or beach, which stretches on for more than three miles. If you’re happy to melt into the resort and its amenities, half- and full-board meal plans are available, though you’ll have to pay separately for alcohol. And did we mention the world-renowned Shambhala Spa? Don’t leave without a massage or facial from this gem.

Grenada: Sandals Grenada Resort & Spa
While historically a little more under-the-radar, Grenada , is a gorgeous island in the Antilles. Its branch of Sandals ’ indulgent resorts is a romantic hotel for couples wanting a luxury vacation that isn’t all just sitting on the beach and going to the spa. Foodies will love the 10 restaurants, active couples can check out kayaking and snorkeling at the beach (or the unlimited free diving if you’re SCUBA certified), and those wanting to chill can book in a treatment at the sophisticated Red Lane Spa. The ocean isn’t always ideal for swimming, though there’s a roped-off area where it’s safe to splash.

Dominican Republic: Zoetry Agua Punta Cana
Punta Cana is a popular stop on the resort circuit, but those wanting an intimate stay need not be at a loss. Zoetry Agua Punta Cana is an all-inclusive, secluded-feeling resort that offers a tropical retreat for couples needing to sit back and relax. It’s an altogether different sort of vibe than the party-hardy hotels in the Bavaro area. Expect freebies like free unlimited gourmet dining, non-motorized water sports, top-shelf booze, laundry service, cigar-rolling and snorkeling, and fruit, liquor, and coffee in the rooms. Guests are also treated to a free 20-minute massage to set the vacation vibe. For those with an equestrian flair, horseback riding on the beach is also included in the stay. There’s also a gorgeous spa with a hydrotherapy circuit, and private butlers if you book a suite. Best of all, the private beach is utterly uncrowded.

Antigua: Galley Bay Resort & Spa
You don’t tend to hear about couples going to Antigua the way you hear about travelers going to Jamaica, but this gem of an island is worth getting on your radar for a romantic retreat. Especially if you’re staying at Galley Bay Resort & Spa, which is perfect for nature-lovers. It’s set on 53 acres that envelop a bird sanctuary, white-sand beach, and picturesque lagoon. The all-in rate covers three meals and drinks, as well as non-motorized sports. It’s elegant but relaxed, with both a rustic rum joint and a sophisticated spa, though a bohemian spirit runs strong with outdoor showers and reggae CDs upon request. Take in the scenery from the freeform pool, or from one of four restaurants that all look out over the water. For a romantic splurge, upgrade to the Gauguin suites, located in stone buildings, each with its own private plunge pool.

Aruba: Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort Aruba
Aruba’s known for its natural beauty, and couples who take a commitment to the environment as seriously as they take their commitment to each other need look no further than Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort . It was the first certified carbon-neutral hotel in the region, and it’s placed along the 14-acre spread that makes up the beautiful Eagle Beach. The resort is definitely a place where you can (and should) kick back. Take time to catch the sunrise for once, or find zen during a yoga class on the beach. For a romantic treat, book one of the private cabanas for an oceanfront meal to remember. Aruba pro tip: you can safely drink the tap water.

Barbados: Sandals Barbados
Couples who love activities and making new friends will have a great time on Barbados. The island offers a ton of experiences, from visits to rum distilleries to cave tours, and it’s long been a popular destination for Americans looking to catch a bit of sun. There’s a reason why Sandals has a long-running reputation for offering couples fantastic resort experiences, Sandals Barbados is a testament to its success. The all-inclusive pricing means everything is paid for up front, and upgraded rooms, with amenities like butler service and freestanding soaking tubs on the terrace, add that special touch of luxury to a much-needed Caribbean getaway. It’s not the quietest stay — Sandals resorts are known for being a bit lively –but it’s a great pick for sociable couples focusing on Caribbean fun.

Best Romantic Island Getaways
Plan your next romantic getaway to one of these island resorts..
Romantic getaways are sometimes just what you and your special someone need. Sometimes romantic vacations are just to clear your mind, and other times they're to reignite the same emotions when you both first met.
So, whether one of your next island getaways is for your honeymoon , an anniversary, a couple's retreat or any plain romantic getaway, these are the island resorts that offer the ultimate in romance. Travel to Hawaii , of course, for a combination of luxury, romance, culture and a tropical background like no other. Been to Hawaii before? Try China's Hawaii, Hainan Island, for surfing and a less traditional adventure.
From special dinners to beautiful views and romantic suites, read on for our list of the best romantic getaways at island resorts.
Ratua Private Island - Vanuatu
After his stay in Vanuatu, Islands contributing editor David Lansing had this to say: "This is the conundrum on Ratua : ribeye or lobster? Paddle an outrigger to a sheltered lagoon, or snooze in a thatched-roof daybed pavilion? Everything is about me, me, me. Yet the resort's lavish nature is rooted in philanthropy."
Only here: The Nagol ceremony, once a week from April to June, entails mostly naked men jumping from wood platforms with vies tied around their ankles. When to go: The months of May through October offer the driest weather and no chance of cyclones.
Cayo Espanto - Belize
The South Pacific's overwater bungalows have a luxurious Caribbean rival. Belize's Cayo Espanto offers a private overwater bungalow off a private dock on a private island. One of the best island getaways is a short flight from your not-so-private daily life.
Only here: The resort's overwater villa (not pictured) features a glass floor to view sea life. When to go: March and April offer the clearest water and weather.
Jade Mountain - St. Lucia
Romance is having no fourth wall, no doors, no windows and no distractions separating you from one of the world's most iconic views. Get that here at Jade Mountain .
Only here: Sleep, eat lounge and bathe inside a screensaver scene. When to go: May is best for savings and for securing the Galaxy Sanctuary , which offers a 270-degree, wall-less view of the Pitons and Jade Mountain's private beach.
North Island - Seychelles
Of his stay here at this private-island resort in the Seychelles, Islands contributing editor Bob Morris wrote this: "My wife and I were out for two hours, hiking with a naturalist from North Island . This was the honeymoon outpost for Great Britain's Prince William and Kate. At this resort, the staff of 130 looks after a maximum of just 44 guests."
Only here: Giant seeds (coco de mers) grow to resemble the human buttocks. When to go: Visit here any time from May to November, when cooling trade winds kick in.
Aman Sveti Stefan - Montenegro
Islands contributing editor Robin Cherry writes of her stay here on this tiny island off mainland Montenegro in Europe: "Inside my cottage at the highest part of the island, I rub the rustic walls, its stones hewn from the same ancient rock that makes up the island's towers, walls and alleys. I look up: Nowhere have I seen a grotto-esque ceiling like this. I feel that I'm not just on the island but within it."
Only here: Lord Byron, Princess Margaret, Sophia Lauren, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor have all enjoyed the three-acre island of Sveti Stefan . When to go: June and September are optimal months, as crowds (and clouds) are rare.
Mandarin Oriental Sanya – Hainan, China
Hainan Island is known as the Hawaii of China. From the skyline of Sanya to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel , Hainan taps a Chinese migration to hit the beach and grab a board, as more and more people come here to surf; that is, if you can pull yourself away from the ultra-romantic infinity pool at one of the best romantic island getaways.
Only here: In a nation where "we" always trumps "me," locals are embracing the solo, rather self-indulgent sport of surfing. When to go: November through April offer dry air and mild temps. Avoid September, the rainy season's peak.
Fowl Cay Resort – Exumas, Bahamas
Several of our editors have flown in a small seaplane over the magical Exumas and landed near this private-island escape for a romantic holiday. Yes, Johnny Depp's own island is nearby; yes, there are also swimming pigs nearby. But, here in the Exumas, one of the most romantic getaways anywhere, Fowl Cay Resort makes you feel like the two of you are the only ones in the world.
Only here: Villas come with a boat but without a captain; that's your job. Private picnics, castaway fantasies — anything is possible amid 365 cays and islands. When to go: Winter offers the best weather. Just has the best deals, though there's a greater chance of rain.
Hermitage Bay – Antigua
About his stay here, Islands contributing editor David Swanson wrote this: "At the resort, I shared the secluded beach with just a handful of the 25-room resort's guests. Rustic-chic ruled in my oversized room, inside a hillside cottage primped with Italian linens and built from sustainably harvested woods.
"My plunge pool spilled into the blue, and an enthusiastic growth of dense vines provided both shade and privacy."
Only here: The 30-minute ride from the airport is largely on a private, rather unmaintained road. It's what gives Hermitage Bay guests unrivaled privacy. When to go: As with most Caribbean destinations, May is a spectacular shoulder-season month to save and dodge the masses.
Likuliku Lagoon Resort – Fiji
Arriving to Fiji's only resort with overwater bungalows, Islands editor Eddy Patricelli wrote the following: "Nobody is taking pictures. Our boat has steadied. Husbands and wives who once stood for a better view, leaned for a better photo now sit beside one another, hands interlaced, cameras forgotten. A group of Fijians is singing to us on a tiny island nestled in a lagoon.
"They sing with reminders of a church choir, exuding warmth that carries an unspoken edict: This welcome is best shared with two eyes, two ears and someone you love."
Only here: Music dominates daily life so much so that an easy-to-pack box of guitar picks given to the Likuliku staff creates lifelong friends. When to go : May, June and October blend low rates and favorable weather. Fiji's peak season is July through September (winter break for Aussies and Kiwis).
Sandals LaSource – Grenada
Islands digital editor Steve Spears said this of Grenada's newest resort : "Of the property's 225 suites, 69 of them are butler suites, all of which involve a plunge pool of sorts. Here, meandering rivers, waterfalls and infinity pools mix with living space. And with nine restaurants on tap, the small set of portable wooden steps leading to your bed are necessary."
Only here: Notions of an all-inclusive resort expand. Live shows, sailing lessons and snorkeling and diving tours are included in the nightly rate (from $339 per person). When to go: Early December sees deals and sunny skies.
Amangalla – Sri Lanka
Of his recent stay here, Islands contributing editor Nathan Myers wrote this: "I wake up in the 17th century. Antique bed, claw-foot bathtub — my room at the Amangalla Hotel in Galle may be only 100 years old, but the Dutch colonial fort just outside dates back much farther. One step out the door, and I'm part of a living museum. Uncaptioned and inescapable."
Only here: Elephants walk Sri Lanka's sidewalks. Stilt fishermen balance over the surf. When to go: November through April is the dry season for Southwest Sri Lanka, where Amangalla is located.
Golden Dolphin – Dominican Republic
This may be the perfect villa escape in the Dominican Republic. On the north shore, far from the big all-inclusives of Punta Cana, the charming Golden Dolphin has romantic, quiet views like this. Oh, and a baseball, too, if you absolutely love baseball.
Only here: Kids use limes, bottle caps and almond pods in lieu of baseballs. And their games aren't nine innings; instead, they last all day long. When to go: Shoulder season is March and May, when high temperatures average in the low 80s. Clear skies are common, too.
GoldenEye – Jamaica
Ian Fleming once demanded two-month vacations to write at his estate in St. Mary, Jamaica , now the jewl of GoldenEye resort (yes, like the James Bond movie). Fleming's writing desk (007's birthplace) still beckons. And so do villas Vesper, Honey Chile and Solitaire.
Only here: The Fleming Villa includes its own pocket beach and a modern-day media room Q himself would appreciate. When to go: Late November and early December visits offer big savings. Avoid the holiday (and hurricane) season.
Medjumbe – Mozambique
About his journey to this private-island resort off the southeast coast of Africa, Islands contributing editor and photographer Jad Davenport had this to say: "We landed an hour ago, and, since then, I've managed to check in at the palm-thatched resort, down two ice-crushed caipirinhas and bushwack through the forest to the opposite end of the island.
"I'm still dressed for an African safari — dusty boots, jeans, long-sleeved khaki shirt — not for the breezy tropics of the Quirimbas Archipelago."
Only here: The island is just a half-mile long and a quarter-mile wide. Aside from Medjumbe , it's only sign of man is a lighthouse. When to go: May through December is the cooler, dry season and is best for deals. Humpback whales arrive from August to October.
Le Meridien – Bora Bora, Islands of Tahiti
Romance is waking up in a dream. You're there, in Tahiti, in one of its signature enclaves hovering above the lagoon of Bora Bora. Pronounce it quickly like the locals: "podapoda." You don't want to waste any time here.
Only here: Snorkeling with dozens of turtles is a given. The resort's lagoon is a turtle-rehabilitation habitat, unique to Le Meridien . When to go: May through October is the region's dry season and peak season. Deals are rare in Tahiti, but the first week of January is a good bet; though, there's a greater chance of rain.
Jackie's on the Reef – Jamaica
Of her recent stay here, Islands contributing editor Diane Weathers wrote this: "Jackie Lewis cleared jungle for a vegetable garden that now feeds her guests at Jackie's on the Reef , one of the isle's first wellness retreats."
Only here: sleep in a geodesic dome made of coral deposited by a hurricane. The room is said to have awesome energy. When to go: October through early December delivers the best deals, though they may come with rain showers. Most are fleeting.
Huvafen Fushi – Maldives
Arrive by luxury speedboat to find glass-floored overwater bungalows and your own personal butler for your next romantic vacation. The island is home to the first underwater spa and what's said to be the largest wine collection in the Maldives. A-lister Kate Moss is a frequent guest of Huvafen Fushi . Actually, anyone who stays here is on the A-list, if only for a few days.
Only here: The spa is more aquarium than therapy room. A treatment's challenge is closing your eyes. When to go: May through November offers great deals, fewer neighbors and fantastic snorkeling.
Hanalei Colony Resort – Kauai, Hawaii
Getting here requires crossing seven one-lane bridges. All are photo-worthy and soon forgotten. The 48-room resort is nestled between lush mountains, towering waterfalls and the untamed coastline of Kauai . Its views trump all those that came before it, especially watching an uninterrupted Hawaiian sunset from Ke'e Beach.
Only here: The resort touts each suite's proximity to the beach as an exact measurement. As in, "Ocean Premium Suites are 10 feet from the beach." When to go: Fall is best on all fronts. Temps hover in the low 70s and 80s, and room rates drop, as do tourist arrivals.
Sanctuary Cana – Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
After her two-week stint touring 10 Punta Cana resorts, Islands digital editor Cami Webb said this about Sanctuary Cana : "This just doesn't fit with what I've heard about all-inclusives. There's a castle stretching out over the ocean, a collection of island-style bungalows and Spanish colonial-style buildings with intimate hideouts.
"My fiancé and I lounge at the rooftop bar before heading to our suite where three private plunge pools await inside — three. And just outside, a path along the castle moat leads to powder-white sand at Juanillo Beach, where we can snuggle in solitude."
Only here: A private-island feel among a slew of all-inclusives. When to go: From March to May, the peak-season crowds start dipping out. June through November sees lots of deals, but the weather can be iffy.
Hapuku Lodge – New Zealand
Here, inside the Hapuku Lodge treehouses on New Zealand's South Island, guests don't wake up in the trees; they wake up on the trees. These suites are built 30 feet off the ground on steel supports among native manuka trees.
Only here: each treehouse suite features a wood-burning fireplace. This may spark concern. A rain-fountain shower on the top deck offers relief. When to go: For sightseeing, spring (September to November) and fall (March to May) are best. Resort rates jump in the summer (December to February).
Hotel Chocolat – St. Lucia
On a recent trip here with her husband, Islands contributing editor Ann Vanderhoof wrote the following: "Steve and I are making chocolate bars straight from the cocoa beans at St. Lucia's Hotel Chocolat , a boutique resort that lives up to its promissory name 24/7.
"Yesterday, we drank cocoa martinis and cocoa bellinis before dinner. Downed iced-chocolate shots [and] noshed on seared tuna with cocoa pesto."
Only here: A trip to the beach means hopping in Hotel Chocolat's speedboat. This is a good thing. St. Lucia's rugged terrain (and famous Pitons) entail winding roads. When to go: Save big in May, but book early. St Lucia is a favorite destination for weddings .
Kamalame Cay – Bahamas
Of his stay here, Islands contributing editor Jad Davenport wrote this: "We check in at Kamalame Cay, a private island off the east coast of Andros, and I lapse into sweet lethargy. At the open-air beach bar, I enjoy a rum punch as youth drapes over me like an ermine cloak.
"Karin and I get messages in an overwater spa. We sleep with the doors and windows of our villa open so the curtains dance in the sea breeze."
Only here: The resort is surrounded by three miles of empty beaches, as if its private-island location wasn't insular enough. When to go: The deals happen in Kamalame Cay's offseason (May to August). It's also the region's rainy season, though the Bahamas see more than 300 sunn days a year.
Kanopi House – Jamaica
Only if you know that this luxury treehouse resort exists will you ever find it. You can't see it from above, nestled in the lush jungled hills surrounding Port Antonio on Jamaica's northeast side. You can't see it from the water of the Blue Lagoon, even if you're kayaking so, so close. But when you do enter this special world, you'll never want to leave.
Only here: Think minimal carbon footprint here, as no tree lost its life in the building of Kanopi House . It also boasts one of the only overwater spas in the Caribbean. When to go: Year-round, sleepy Port Antonio doesn't get near the crowds of more popular spots like Montego Bay or Negril. Visit in shoulder season (late April or May) for the best deals.
Kilauea Lakeside Estate – Kauai, Hawaii
Of her stay here while taking aerial photos of the nearby Na Pali coast, Islands photo editor Lori Barbely wrote this: "I regale Steve and Janine Hunt, owners of Kilauea Lakeside Estate , with stories of my first two days. Steve looks serious. 'You need to schedule a massage and some downtime.' Janine agrees: "Polynesian paralysis is an integral part of the Kauai experience.'"
Only here: You get your own private lake on Kauai's north coast (not the shore) with complete privacy on an 11-acre peninsula at one of the best tropical vacations for couples. When to go: In the fall, the least crowded season, room rates dip below $150 a night for many hotels. In spring, airfares plummet, and the weather's perfect.
Little Palm Island – Florida Keys
Romance is not needing plane tickets or three-ounce travel containers. Just jump in the car, and drive two-and-a-half hours south of Miami. Florida's Little Palm Island will make you feel like you're in the Pacific, Florida Keys style.
Only here: Key deer swim over from the mainland, and some prefer to hang out with guests at the pool. When to go: Winter and spring (through April) see the best months for weather in the Keys since humidity is low compared to summer and early fall.
Àni Villas – Anguilla
Upon returning from Àni Villas , Island editor Audrey St. Clair said the following: "Romance is having a personal chef in your private clifftop villa. It's waking each morning to the smell of breakfast, the sight of turquoise, the feel of ocean breezes ushering in a new day in paradise. It's massages at the cliff's edge while Chef Shamash prepares just-caught ceviche and coconut cheesecake for lunch. At Àni Villas, the mood found us."
Only here: On Anguilla's Sandy Island, eat Anguilla crayfish (indigenous to the island) cooked on a grill powered by car batteries. When to go: Hotel rates drop dramatically from May through August.
Pink Sands Resort – Bahamas
Islands editor Ashley Fraxedas wrote this about her stay at Pink Sands Resort : "The resort led us to the dock, which led us to Patrick, who is leading us into dead-quiet coves like a gondolier ina Venetian canal. We're all as quiet as the cove around us."
Only here: Even a color-blind Islands editor saw that the sand on Harbour Island was pink. The photos don't do it justice. When to go: Deals start springing up at the hotels (there are only 10 or 11) in May and stick around all summer, but your best bet for weather is in December through April.
Sugar Beach – St. Lucia
Of his recent stay at Sugar Beach , Islands photographer Zach Stovall wrote this: "Some villas high on the hillside behind me have private swimming pools. This two-bedroom beach bungalow has an outdoor tub instead. Oh, yeah — and the Caribbean Sea is about 10 long strides from the front door.
Only here: Selfies are maddening. Nestled at the base of Gros and Petit Piton, Sugar Beach's location makes it tough to frame both iconic mountains (and yourself) in a single shot. When to go: May and June deliver deals, but book ahead. Weddings are popular here.
Paul Gauguin Cruises – Islands of Tahiti
No overcrowded ports; ocean views from every suite. The m/s Paul Gauguin has perfected luxury at sea. But the most romantic experiences might be off the ship. This all-inclusive cruise's small footprint allows access to Tahitian islands no larger boat can reach. A private motu in Tahiti? Romance just reached a whole new level.
Only here: With just 332 guests on each ship, the crew-to-guest ratio is 1:15, the lowest of any luxury cruise ship. When to go: Any time you want. Year-round departure dates make it easy to pick a date.

Medjumbe Island, Mozambique
Despite the intimacy of its 12 secluded villas styled with thatched roofs and African prints, the adults-only Anantara Medjumbe Island Resort still sits entirely under-the-radar. We chalk it up to its far-flung locale in the Quirimbas Archipelago off the coast of Mozambique, but trust us—the unspoiled beauty of this part of the world is well worth trekking to. Whether you’re lounging on your sundeck, dipping in your plunge pool, snuggling in the shade of a cabana, or cooling off in your garden shower, it’s a slice of paradise you have to see to believe. Looking for something even more remote (for a proposal, perhaps)? Book their Star Bed Experience to be whisked away to an uninhabited island for sunset, a picnic dinner, and a night sleeping under the stars.
Turtle Island, Fiji
Talk about exclusive: only 28 guests at a time are ever allowed on Turtle Island , a couples-only retreat with just 14 villas. Upon arrival, couples are assigned a b ure (personal concierge) for the duration of their stay to ensure the utmost attention to detail. Though you’ll enjoy a semi-private experience regardless of whether you’re snorkeling, sailing, fishing, or horseback riding, any experience can also be specially arranged as a private couples outing that involves—get this—booking a private beach to ensure your afternoon goes by without disturbance.

Hayman Island, Australia
In the heart of Australia’s Whitsunday Islands , you’ll find Hayman Island, a 988-acre private island hideaway home to just one hotel: the InterContinental Hayman Island Resort . In addition to offering unparalleled access to the island’s ever-changing beachfront and diverse marine life, the resort offers a number of once-in-a-lifetime experiences that showcase the beauty of its surrounds, from helicopter rides over the outer Great Barrier Reef to inner-reef snorkeling and scuba diving to luxury yacht cruises bound for Whitehaven Beach—widely considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. From young, adventurous couples to older twosomes, the variety of experiences here make it an idyllic escape for anyone.

Cayman Island, Grand Cayman
Grand Cayman proves you don’t need to travel far to experience a cultural, culinary getaway. While many island destinations rely on imported produce, Grand Cayman’s many restaurants— Agua and The Wharf are two favorites—are famous for featuring local fruits, vegetables, and game in addition to seafood. In other words, get ready for date night every night! Head on over to the newly developed Camana Bay for their weekly Flavour Tour , which educates visitors (and locals) on the ingredients available in the Cayman’s backyard, and don’t miss annual epicurean events like the Cayman Cookout hosted by celebrated chef Eric Ripert. Guests who check into The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman get special access to Cayman Cookout events — not to mention front-row seats to the island’s beloved Seven Mile Beach.

Cape Fahn, Koh Samui, Thailand
Although it’s impossible to deny Thailand’s allure, finding romantic, private lodging isn’t always easy on its tourist-populated islands. Our recommendation: after flying into Koh Samui, avoid the crowds by skipping on over to Cape Fahn , an island separated from the mainland. Couples are whisked uphill by golf cart to one of the private island hotel’s individual villas, each outfitted with infinity plunge pools, traditional Thai architecture, and floor-to-ceiling window with sprawling views of the Gulf of Thailand. There’s not much else to do on this island; here, doing nothing is an itinerary, and luxury, in itself.

Bermuda’s famed pink sand, old-world British charm, and sheltered south shore make it a popular honeymooner’s paradise. That it’s just a short plane trip from New York City, Boston, Miami and Atlanta makes it easy, too, for a long weekend away without the fuss. The Loren at Pink Beach, the island’s newest resort, offers beachfront access and an infinity pool that appears like it melts right into the turquoise sea. Inside, rooms are island-chic with contemporary furnishings and linen spreads, not to mention uninterrupted views of those dreamy waters. Check in and prepare to unwind—it’s the island’s specialty.

Kamalame Cay, Bahamas
You need to take a charter flight, helicopter, or seaplane from Andros Island to reach Kamalame Cay , an all-inclusive that occupies its own 96-acre island, and once you’re there, you’ll feel worlds away. Just a smattering of rooms, suites, beach bungalows, and Bali-inspired villas, which sit tucked into jungle and coconut palms, feel like islands of their own, and there are untouched pockets of beach where strung-up hammocks and shady palapas perfectly fit two. The family-run resort is accustomed to making every detail special, whether that’s keeping guests active with paddle-boarding and snorkeling sessions or hosting personalized seaside dinners by candlelight. We love that Kamalame even curates an ‘unplugged’ itinerary—a stay without television or internet—so you can truly connect with your other half.

The Maldives
With its turquoise blue waters and ubiquitous overwater bungalows, the Maldives are undoubtedly one of the most romantic island getaways in the world. One of our favorites is COMO Maalifushi , the only resort on the southern island of Thaa Atoll. With offers like “Romantic Beach Dinner” and “Romantic Sailing,” COMO caters to the couple in search of true pampering. Whether you’re dining under the stars or sailing into sunset with a glass of champagne in one hand and your other intertwined with another’s, you’re sure to be spoiled rotten in one of the most unspoiled islands in the Indian Ocean.

20. Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort Arrow
The majestic Pitons mountains, over 100 acres of untouched rainforest, and the shimmering Caribbean Sea all frame this idyllic resort, which is set on the site of a former 18th-century sugar plantation along the southwestern edge of the island. It’s the views that grab you first: lush, picture-perfect, and uninterrupted from the porches of the plantation-style structures out past the white-sand beach and over the water. You can’t really go wrong with which room category you choose here, as all accommodations come with a plunge pool, walled garden, and private patio; but the Luxury Sugar Mill rooms, which are ideal for two, look out at Gros Piton, the on-site lily pond, and the ruins of the original 18th-century sugar mill. On the resort, a PADI dive facility and land and water equipment are available. Don’t miss the on-site Rainforest Spa, with 10 treehouse treatment rooms and a menu that takes inspiration from St. Lucia's natural wonders, from its volcanoes and beaches to its hot springs and cocoa plantations (so look out for ingredients like raw coconut, sea salt, and organic cocoa).
19. Cap Maison Arrow
At the northern tip of St. Lucia, on what used to be the sugar plantation, Cap Maison sits clifftop like a small orderly village. This cluster of three-story white buildings has a Spanish (via Caribbean) colonial architectural motif with its characteristic Moorish inflections, painted tiles, and dark wood. The 49 rooms are kitted out with local paintings and richly upholstered furniture (including an oversized chaise longue at the foot of the bed), balconies, louvered shutters, ceiling fans, A/C, iPod docks, and Bose speakers, as well as lovely bathrooms with painted ceramic sinks. Some suites come with a private plunge pool but, should you prefer company, there is a small cliff-edge cascading pool as well as a larger one surrounded by chaises. At the bottom of a long staircase down to the sea is a small protected beach for swimming and snorkeling.
18. Round Hill Hotel and Villas Arrow
It’s easy to imagine that very little has changed at this 1950s-era resort since John F. Kennedy absconded to Cottage 25 to chip away at his inaugural address and Oscar Hammerstein wrote The Sound of Music while taking in the killer ocean views. The green-striped awnings shading vast terraces and the interiors’ cream-colored paneling offset by dark wood, along with the tea and sandwiches served at four sharp every afternoon, enhance that caught-in-time feeling. That in recent years Ralph Lauren had a major hand in the design is a delightful nonsurprise, with a playful preppiness on display at every turn, like the bar with its deep booth benches upholstered in navy and white stripes and photos of bygone guests, like Warren Beatty, covering the walls.
17. Secret Bay, Dominica Arrow
The "secret" part of Secret Bay's name is no accident—the resort's six gorgeous villas give new meaning to the word “hideaway.” Touches vary from villa to villa, but all have interiors and floors made of Guyanese greenheart, bedroom furniture made of Dominican red cedar, open decks, private pools, and 180-degree views over the mountain peaks of Dominica and the Caribbean Sea. Though we doubt you'll get tired of living your own castaway fantasies (albeit with much nicer accommodations), Secret Bay's concierge is available to help craft personalized itineraries: Think rainforest hikes with a famed naturalist, or a sunset sail along the island's western coast.

16. Bitter End Yacht Club Arrow
Our readers will be coming here til the… well, you know. And for good reason: When casting their ballots for Bitter End Yacht Club, most all voters made some mention of the property's ample selection of water sports and activities, with one going so far as to bestow the superlative of “best marina staff in all of the [British Virgin Islands].” Further, there are “no airs allowed," with the laidback atmosphere consistently praised as well.
15. Curtain Bluff Arrow
This classic Caribbean legend is an all-inclusive on 20 acres of gardens, where beautiful birds flit in and out of the trees. Stuccoed accommodations are filled with wicker furniture and overlook the beach. Dinner is served alfresco four nights a week at the Sea Grape restaurant. A different band plays nightly at the Tamarind Tree, where French and Caribbean flavors intensify the fresh-caught grouper and wahoo. Kids can brush up on their drop volleys, top-spin lobs, and cross-court backhand winners at the complimentary kids' tennis clinic. With two private beaches—one for swimming, the other for water sports—there's ample space for all.
14. Jade Mountain Arrow
It's unlike any place in the world—you have to stay here to appreciate the brilliant design. You will come home changed from this hillside resort, named for the owners' extensive collection of antique carved jade mountains, and placed high above its beachfront sister property Anse Chastanet. Jaw-droppingly beautiful rooms all have 15-foot ceilings, unforgettable Piton Mountain views, and private infinity pools in different colored tiles (ruby, amber, plum). James Beard-winning chef Allen Susser mixes sweet and spicy—with seafood dishes the stars—at Jade Mountain Club, and above, the Celestial Terrace allows for some late-night star-gazing.
13. Ladera Resort Arrow
Anticipate the experience of a lifetime at this eco-lodge built with Caribbean timber, local stone, and terra-cotta tiles on the site of a former cocoa plantation. It's in a calm, beautiful garden setting on a forested ridge overlooking the Pitons and the sea far below. Rustic suites—very Swiss Family Robinson in look and feel—have private plunge pools and no fourth wall, allowing unobstructed views. At Ti Kai Posé Spa, indulge in a hot volcanic stone massage or take a dip in the mineral pools. A free shuttle can take you to Sugar Beach, just five minutes away. Note that there are no televisions or phones in guest rooms, but there's free Wi-Fi for the needy (plus, only 17+ here—befitting one of the world's most romantic resorts).
12. Guana Island Resort Arrow
Guana Island doesn’t have beach attendants. Cocktails are DIY, and you fetch your own beach towels. Yes, 90 percent of Guana Island remains wild but the resort, which holds just 35 guests in 18 rooms, finds its decadence in privacy and natural beauty. Plus, in the resort's kitchen, you'll find chef Xavi Arnau who trained at Nobu in London and El Bulli in Spain, and Matthew Lightner, alum of multiple two-Michelin-starred restaurants like Noma in Denmark, Mugaritz in Spain, and Atera in New York. Sand, seclusion, and some serious farm-to-table Caribbean-inspired cuisine—what more could you want? Following a tip-to-toe refurbishment after the hurricanes of 2017, Guana Island was up and running this summer after burying all of its vital infrastructure underground, installing a new water filtration system, adding three new greenhouses, and introducing a lively flock of 100 chickens (for eggs).
11. Jumby Bay Arrow
Reopened in October 2017 as an Oetker Collection member (formally a Rosewood resort), Jumby Bay Island is accessible only by boat, with not a car in sight—but plenty of bikes to navigate this 300-acre island off the northern coast of Antigua. With only 40 accommodations in total—rooms and villas— there’s no need to worry about feeling the need to ever get off the all-inclusive island (although if curious, there's a complimentary ferry service that runs between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.). You’ll be plenty busy on one of the resort’s three tennis courts, in three pools—the Veranda is family-friendly, and on more than four miles of beach, plus kids’ club, for when you want to be anything but busy. The cheerful decor throughout is the work of Brazilian interior designer, Patricia Anastassiadis of Anastassiadis Arquitetos.
10. Half Moon, Jamaica Arrow
Still buzzing from a $75 million renovation in 2019, Jamaica's iconic, 400-acre Half Moon is back on the scene. Newly constructed rooms are low-rise, set back from two miles of Montego Bay beachfront. The Fern Tree Spa is one of the largest in the Caribbean, and sporty folk can engage with a Robert Trent Jones–designed, 18-hole golf course, 11 tennis courts, and an equestrian center. Visiting families will appreciate a new marketplace and café for takeaway snacks and an all-day, casual dining room. The 57 new guest rooms contain an impressive number of cheerful works by Jamaican artists and lots of wood and natural fibers.
9. Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Puerto Rico Arrow
The emphasis at this Ritz-Carlton Reserve —one of only four in the world—is on setting. The hotel has undergone many transformations, including after Hurricane Maria in 2017, but ever since Laurance Rockefeller built a sanctuary here it has been all about sea, sand, and lush greenery. Beach-facing terraces and outdoor showers bookend rooms, and museum-grade artwork is scattered on tree branches. But it’s the Spa Botánico, a tropical wonderland, that really fits Rockefeller’s approach. After visiting, you’ll remember the 95-year-old ficus at the entrance most clearly. That, or the treehouse in the canopy where you had the greatest massage of your life.
8. Rosewood Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands Arrow
Coming out on top is Rosewood Little Dix Bay, a property our editors haven't stopped talking about ever since it reopened in early 2020 . The rooms here are a “Dream Beach House'' Pinterest board come to life: The mid-century modern–meets–the ocean vibe means lots of sleek lines, an earthy color palette, and exposed stone walls with plenty of driftwood, coral, and woven baskets on the shelves. Each of the 80 rooms and one- and two-bedroom suites have outdoor showers and are within steps of the property’s half-mile, white-sand beach. All guests also get a personal butler who knows the island inside and out.
7. Eden Roc at Cap Cana, Dominican Republic Arrow
If you want a Dominican Republic vacation away from the crowds, look no further. This Eden Roc outpost sits in the exclusive, beachfront community of Cap Cana at the eastern tip of the country, featuring 32 suites with private pools and 26 suites located on the beach. The resort recently unveiled four Ocean Villas, which come with wrap-around terraces, private infinity pools and hot tubs, and in-villa spa treatments. Be sure to venture away from your room to experience the property's yoga sessions, scuba-diving lessons, and fine-dining restaurants.
6. Paradise Beach Nevis Arrow
The word most often used by readers voting for Paradise Beach Nevis is “again.” As in, “I look forward to visiting again and again,” and “This is a place I return to again and again.” The edenic resort, with all of 13 rooms spread across a handful of villas, gets shouts for its verdant grounds and gardens, monkey population, and the attention to detail by a fabulous staff. It feels, it seems, that a stay here is akin to heaven.
5. Le Toiny, St. Barts Arrow
This Relais & Châteaux property near the eastern end of St. Barts wears its luxury more casually than some of its peers: This is a true feet-in-the-sand kind of resort, where lunches at the beach club involve simply grilled fish served under sea grape trees, and the 22 free-standing suites are done up in a simple palette of crisp whites. Elsewhere onsite, you’ll find an open-air boutique selling local beachwear brands, a spa located in one of the island’s most historic houses, and a brand-new surf shack where you can learn the fine art of wave-riding. Nights are best spent at the chic restaurant, which draws on the spoils of the sea for dishes like prawn tortellini with charred octopus, fennel, sweet lemon, and dashi, or cured wahoo with cucumber, apple, dill, and taramasalata.
4. Baoase Luxury Resort Arrow
Set in a quiet residential neighborhood, this intimate beachfront property (whose name mixes the owners’ first initials with the Dutch word for oasis) uses dense, vibrant landscaping and shutters and stone walls between guest rooms to create a cocooning feeling of privacy. Baoase is also transporting, as any memorable hotel should be, with a strong Asian-esque design that includes ubiquitous Balinese Hindu statues, idols, and sculptures, and a reliance on simplicity over dazzle. High-ceilinged suites mix dark-wood furnishings with whimsical touches like silver crocodile-print wallpaper and knobby chenille rugs that look like mats of pebbles; villas come with full stainless steel kitchens. The sole restaurant produces international cuisine including dishes such as terrine of duck and duck liver and carpaccio of scallops with a vanilla dressing as well as fresh fish caught by local fishermen. Although service is not quite polished, the happy-go-lucky Dutch-Caribbean staff are refreshingly devoid of attitude.
3. Sandy Lane, Barbados Arrow
This landmark resort is something of a Bajan institution, with elegant interiors and an awesomely beautiful setting that ensures it is consistently ranked as one of the best hotels in the Caribbean. This splendor runs through everything, including the hotel's Treehouse Club for little ones. The resort, on the site of a onetime sugar plantation, offers old-school Caribbean luxury. Neo-Palladian accommodations are appointed with rich furniture, and offer views of the beachfront or Sandy Lane’s tropical gardens. Three golf courses are set along a former stone quarry, and open only to guests. Dine on French and Mediterranean specialties at the open-air L’Acajou.
2. Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa, St. Barts Arrow
Set between a lagoon and Grand Cul-de-Sac beach along St. Barts' northeastern shore (with views of offshore islets and the distant St. Maarten), Le Barthélemy is an education in understated elegance. Rooms are enormous, with lots of wood and one or two pops of bright color—some even have small, rectangular plunge pools. The food at Aux Amis is unabashedly modern French. Water sports enthusiasts have an expanse of calm shallow waters for kayaking, kite-surfing, and snorkeling. Fellow jetsetters aren't your only company here: A flotilla of a dozen sea turtles that survived the storms of 2017 remain in residence and are easily visible.
1. Eden Rock, St. Barts Arrow
If Bianca Jagger were a hotel, she would be Eden Rock . The hotel sits on a point and is almost entirely surrounded by calm, gin-bottle-blue water. Many of the rooms are built into the rock and are simultaneously elegant and cozy. The guests range in nationality—lots of elegant French couples and families, as well as well-heeled American newlyweds and older travelers who have been coming to Eden Rock for decades. Rockstar chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten is in charge of the menu at the main restaurant, Sand Bar, which takes cues from Vongerichten's ABC and ABCV restaurants. It sounds silly, but you feel a little famous when you're there.

Hop on bikes and explore the scenic Amelia Island Trail, or pedal to downtown Fernandina Beach for its Victorian-style architecture, antique shops and galleries. After a day spent sightseeing, pamper weary muscles with a couples massage at one of the luxury resorts that call the island home.
This tiny Massachusetts island exudes New England charm. Stroll arm in arm with your sweetheart down cobblestone streets, unwind on white sand beaches and snap selfies in front of iconic lighthouses, such as Brant Point Lighthouse and Great Point Lighthouse. Then, grab a lobster roll to share from one of the island's premier seafood restaurants, and revel in the extraordinary Atlantic Ocean views from the Sconset Bluff Walk. When you're ready to retire for the night, you'll have your pick of quaint Nantucket inns.
Whether you time your trip for summer boating, fall leaf peeping or snow season, upstate New York makes for an intimate setting. Depending on when you visit, you can bond with your beloved on a sleigh ride, a paddling trip or a scenic hike, where you'll be treated to awe-inspiring views of the Adirondacks' forests, lakes and mountains. When you're adventured out, bop between some of New York's most iconic small towns, including Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, for local dining and shopping. What's more, you can choose from accommodations ranging from luxe lodges packed with amenities to secluded wooden cabins for two.
Savannah, Georgia, is tailor-made for a weekend getaway. Spanish moss hangs over sidewalks that lead past hundreds of historic homes. The lively River Street area features a bevy of shopping, dining and nightlife options, while nearby islands provide a relaxing respite. Meanwhile, Forsyth Park provides the ultimate romantic backdrop for memorable couples photos, and if you're feeling brave, you can hold each other tight during a ghost tour at the hauntingly beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery. For charming digs in the heart of the city, hang your hat at one of Savannah's charming bed-and-breakfast accommodations, or rent a snug carriage house.
If your ideal romantic escape entails a lazy agenda, shingle-covered beach houses and quaint towns, Martha's Vineyard is just the place. On this Massachusetts island, you can relax on quiet beaches, sample decadent fare at upscale restaurants and explore the historic Edgartown Lighthouse, which offers incredible views of the harbor and neighboring Chappaquiddick Island. On a warm, sunny day, venture to Oak Bluffs, where you'll find charming gingerbread cottages at The Campground. For the ultimate romantic retreat, book a stay at one of the island's top hotels, some of which offer complimentary bike rentals, beach chairs and continental breakfast to guests.
Reconnect with your sweetie during a getaway to Jackson Hole. This piece of Wyoming paradise is ideal for all kinds of outdoor pursuits, including hiking and skiing. Should you need to soothe your aching muscles after an active day, go for a dip in the Granite Hot Springs, Astoria Hot Springs or your high-end resort's outdoor hot tub. Whether your dream romantic vacation includes horseback riding through the majestic Grand Teton National Park, sipping wine by a crackling fireplace or unwinding at a world-class spa, Jackson Hole is the perfect place for you and your other half.
For lovebirds who enjoy skiing and cuddling up by a fireplace, Aspen is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. Spend your days sharing ski lifts in the snow-capped mountains before partaking in the highly touted après ski scene. If you arrive during the warmer months, take advantage of superb hiking and scenic gondola rides. Then, retreat to one of the many hotels and resorts that offer glitzy accommodations for two – not to mention some must-visit spas . If you're not ready to turn in just yet, Aspen's nightlife options include plenty of live music venues, clubs and cocktail lounges.
With 40 miles of protected seashore, this region of Massachusetts offers plenty of space for that long walk on the beach. And the slow pace of Cape Cod means you don't have to focus on the hustle and bustle of daily life – you can spend quality time together swimming, biking and eating fresh seafood instead. Cape Cod is also home to a handful of breweries and wineries, so you can toast to your special someone during a tasting. Splurge on one of the Cape's five-star accommodations for spectacular ocean views and sumptuous amenities like soaking tubs for two, in-room fireplaces and private balconies.

19 Most Romantic Resorts in the USA for an Anniversary Trip (2023)
For our 20th anniversary, I had big dreams of a romantic getaway to Greece , or a couples trip to Bora Bora, returning to our honeymoon destination. If you are looking for an anniversary trip, romantic getaway, couples trip, or honeymoon ideas a little closer to home, start with our picks for the most romantic resorts in the USA.
I’ve asked friends, travel advisors, and trusted frequent travelers for their recommendations on the best romantic getaways in the U.S. for a special milestone anniversary trip. These are our top picks:
Most Romantic Resorts in the USA
Note: This post contains affiliate links. If you click a link and make a purchase, I may receive a small commission at no cost to you.
1. Little Palm Island, Florida
When I stumbled on the website for Little Palm Island in the Florida Keys, I thought I hit the jackpot with everything that I wanted for our anniversary trip. A private island, our own tropical villa, and the most romantic atmosphere I can imagine within the continental United States. And then I looked at the price and realized I actually needed to hit the jackpot, or the lottery, to make even a splurge trip here a reality.
But if you are ready to spend, it is no surprise that Little Palm Island was included in the top resorts in the United States (and the World) by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.
2. Amangiri, Canyon Point, Utah
Ever since spying the Amangiri hotel in a food magazine, my husband has been angling for a romantic getaway to this remote portion of Utah’s red rock country. Covering 600 acres of the vast and majestic Colorado Plateau, the Amangiri offers a desert landscape of canyons, mesas, ridges, and gorges.
Guests can choose between the modernist suites of Amangiri and the tented pavilions of Camp Sarika. To gain an appreciation of the landscape, you can tour slot canyons with Navajo guides, or observe powerful storytelling sessions and ritual dances by the fire in Monument Valley Tribal Park. Adventurers can also go canyoning, climbing, hiking, horseback riding, or enjoy water sports on Lake Powell. This is the perfect choice for those that enjoy spending time in nature and are active adventurers.
3. Bungalows Key Largo, Florida
If you are craving a tropical setting but $2000+ a night is a little rich for your budget, head to Key Largo. Bungalows Key Largo is one of the few adults-only resorts in the United States. While it still costs a pretty penny, at least their price is all-inclusive.
Picture a waterfront bungalow with a private veranda featuring a large outdoor soaking tub as your romantic getaway retreat. If that doesn’t relax you, the Zen Garden Spa certainly should. If you want to book a bungalow for Valentine’s Day, guests can now add on a Valentine’s Day Sunset Dinner Cruise on a luxury catamaran with live acoustic music and an elegant culinary experience.
4. Inn at Perry Cabin, St. Michael’s, Maryland
My friend Brianna recommends the Inn at Perry Cabin , on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. This Belmond property offers understated luxury in one of the most beautiful areas of the east coast. The hotel’s interiors reflect the area’s maritime history, with plenty of cozy nooks and crannies to snuggle with your significant other.
The outdoor views are best enjoyed in one of the resort’s many Adirondack chairs with a glass of wine in hand, a perfect spot for enjoying the sunset. This resort is perfect for foodie couples who enjoy waterfront activities like yoga, kayaking, and sailing lessons.
5. Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur, California
My friend and luxury travel advisor Kristi Marcelle recommends the Post Ranch Inn for an adults-only romantic getaway near San Francisco. Located on a clifftop overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the romantic landscape of Big Sur, the Post Ranch Inn is ideal for romance, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
With just 40 rooms and homes, the resort offers rustic elegance and privacy. Wellness and relaxation activities include morning yoga, guided nature hikes, forest, and sound journey meditation, as well as garden tours and art walks. Guests can also relax and enjoy the view at the infinity pool or use the resort’s telescope to star gaze at night.
6. Blackberry Farm, Walland, Tennessee
Located on a pastoral farm near the Great Smoky Mountains, this Relais & Châteaux resort offers bucket-list-worthy luxury. This intimate resort has something to offer everyone — from archery to carriage rides to culinary classes to water sports.
Blackberry Farm’s “foothill cuisine” draws foodies worldwide to enjoy its three inventive restaurants, which bring together a collection of artisans – chef, master gardener, baker, cheesemaker, forager, butcher, and sommelier.
7. White Barn Inn, Kennebunk, Maine
Luxury travel advisor and friend Barbara Weindling recommends the White Barn Inn for those looking for a classic New England romantic getaway. This Auberge Resorts Collection hotel offers coastal luxury and award-winning dining in one of the most charming towns on the Maine coast .
While you are there, you can enjoy culinary experiences such as chocolate making, cocktail creations, and Sunday tea. Outdoors, guests can enjoy a private cycling tour or sailing along the coast. Or cozy up inside in the Couple’s Spa Suite for an afternoon of romance and pampering.
8. The Point, Saranac Lake, New York
Also recommended by my friend Barbara, The Point is the only Forbes Five-Star property in the Adirondacks . This Relais & Châteaux hotel offers only eleven rooms for an intimate experience.
Built by William Avery Rockefeller II and crafted of native timber and stone, today it is the only Adirondack Great Camp from the Gilded Age open to the public. Enjoy boating, fishing, tennis, waterskiing, croquet, badminton, swimming, wake surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and hiking in the warmer months, or cuddle up with hot toddies by a roaring fire or champagne from the fully stocked ice bar on the lake after a day ice skating, curling and ice fishing in the winter.
9. Magee Homestead at Brush Creek Ranch, Saratoga, Wyoming
Another pick for outdoor adventurers, Kristi also recommends the adults-only Magee Homestead at Brush Creek Ranch. A member of Relais & Châteaux and recipient of the Forbes Travel Guide Five Star rating, Magee Homestead is an all-inclusive ranch that is part of the Brush Creek Ranch Collection.
Magee Homestead offers luxury accommodations in private cabins that once housed cow camp hands. You can enjoy gourmet culinary experiences, relaxing spa treatments, or outdoor adventures and exploration in Medicine Bow National Forest.
10. The Chanler, Newport, Rhode Island
Housed in a mansion on Newport’s famed Cliff Walk, The Chanler offers twenty distinctive Newport hotel rooms, which are elegantly decorated in various period styles. The Chanler has been on our wishlist for a romantic getaway in Newport since we first moved here and sampled the chef’s tasting menu at the hotel’s gourmet restaurant.
This Forbes Four-Star Hotel offers a luxury experience reminiscent of the Gilded Age. Stroll through the manicured gardens while you take in breathtaking ocean vistas, walk along the three-mile Cliff Walk, enjoy a gourmet meal, and sip an after-dinner drink at the fire pit and star gaze.
11. Inn at Newport Ranch, Fort Bragg, California
Located just 30 minutes from Mendocino on the Northern California Coast, the Inn at Newport Ranch is a local secret that luxury travel advisor Kristi Marcelle first clued me into and is perfect for a California romantic getaway .
The ranch encompasses seven microclimates on 2,000 acres set along one-and-one-half miles of rugged coastline, offering plenty of space to spread out and explore. Catering to only 26 guests in total, this intimate resort offers big views, along with 20 miles of trails for mountain biking or off-roading. Dining is another highlight, and right now meals can even be delivered to your patio for more privacy.
12. White Elephant, Nantucket, Massachusetts
The iconic White Elephant has been named among the finest luxury hotels on Nantucket Island for decades and is a popular romantic getaway destination for those seeking New England island charm. This waterfront resort offers spacious suites with private balconies overlooking the harbor, as well as private garden cottages.
From the resort, it is easy to enjoy the beach, shop in Nantucket Town, or take in the views at the Brant Point Lighthouse. Guests can also relax by the outdoor heated pool, hop on a bike and explore the area, sip cocktails on the Harborside Lawn, or rejuvenate in the world-class spa.
13. San Ysidro Ranch, Santa Barbara, California
Recommended by Lynn Juliano, a travel advisor with Travel Xperts , San Ysidro Ranch is the secret hideaway embodying the spirit of Old California. Everyone from Audrey Hepburn, Winston Churchill, JFK and Jackie, Sir Laurence Olivier, and Vivian Leigh have taken up residence here. With 500 acres and 17 miles of hiking trails nestled between the mountains and ocean, San Ysidro Ranch is a perfect romantic escape.
The resort offers intimate cottages scattered around lush gardens, each individually decorated with antiques. Many offer large private decks, indoor/outdoor rain showers, sunken hot tubs, heated floors, and private gardens.
14. The Cloister at Sea Island, Georgia
We have been debating an anniversary trip to The Cloister at Sea Island for some time. I love the Golden Isles of Georgia and since Sea Island is restricted to owners and guests only, it offers both luxury and more intimacy. The Cloister offers three charming settings of accommodations, featuring elegant and unique Spanish Mediterranean décor.
Guests can enjoy five miles of private beach, the adults-only swimming pool, a round of golf, or a couples massage at the Forbes Five-Star Spa Sea Island. For a romantic evening, try horseback riding on the beach followed by dinner and a rose petal turn-down service.
15. Miraval Arizona, Tucson, Arizona
Couples seeking a wellness retreat will bask in the desert sun at the Miraval Arizona in Tucson. The resort offers all-inclusive packages with transformational wellnesses experiences, outdoor adventures, culinary delights, and spa services.
This Sonoran Desert sanctuary provides a wide range of comfortable casita-inspired accommodations for reflection and mindfulness, including rooms, suites, and villas.
16. Twin Farms, Barnard, Vermont
Twin Farms is an all-inclusive resort located on 300 bucolic acres in Vermont , offering up seclusion and privacy. The resort welcomes only adults and teens, with 10 romantically designed cottages and a selection of rooms in the lodge, farmhouse, and main house.
A vast selection of indoor and outdoor activities that focus on well-being are available to guests, including biking, canoeing, fly fishing, hiking, swimming, tennis, and more. Custom-designed meals, wine pairings, and spirits are included in the rate and can be enjoyed in the dining areas or in the privacy of your accommodations.
17. Auberge de Soleil, Rutherford, California
The “Inn of the Sun” is nestled within a terraced, sun-kissed hillside amid 33 acres of heritage olive and oak trees, in Napa wine country. The hotel’s 50 contemporary guestrooms and suites effortlessly blend relaxed sophistication with understated elegance, resulting in a romantic getaway destination.
Auberge du Soleil is the dream of French restaurateur, Claude Rouas, and The Restaurant has maintained its legacy as a “must-experience” culinary destination for more than 40 years. Couples can enjoy a private wine tasting, an art walk in the sculpture garden, a picnic in the park, a scenic hike, or a bike ride on the Napa Valley Vine Trail.
18. Dunton Hot Springs, Dolores, Colorado
Dunton Hot Springs is not your typical romantic retreat. This perfectly restored ghost town features exquisitely-furnished log cabins and a saloon serving gourmet food.
Nestled in an alpine valley deep in the San Juan Mountains of the Colorado Rockies , guests can enjoy challenging hiking trails followed by pampering massages. Of course, all must use one of the five ways to “take the waters” — including inside the restored 19th-century Bathhouse, under the stars at the source, in the pool outside the Bathhouse, in the pool behind the Dunton Store cabin, and inside Well House cabin.
19. The Inn at Little Washington, Washington, Virginia
This Relais and Chateaux, Forbes Double 5 star, and Double AAA 5 Diamond property is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains not far outside of Washington D.C. The Inn at Little Washington , features eighteen bedrooms and suites, created by London stage and set designer Joyce Evans.
These accommodations range from well-appointed rooms to luxurious, two-story suites, many with balconies and garden views. The Inn’s dining rooms are also pure fantasy, with rose-colored, silk lampshades that float above each table, highlighting the inspired American cuisine of Patrick O’Connell.

16 Best Tropical Vacations in the U.S.
From Florida to Hawaii, these destinations prove you don't need to travel outside the country for a balmy getaway.
The tropics are best known for their year-round heat, rainy season, lush flora, soft beaches, and glistening waves. In addition to bursting with colorful flora, the equatorial region stretching from the Tropic of Cancer to the Tropic of Capricorn grows the sugar cane that keeps resort bars stocked with rum.
While the continental United States is too far north to be considered truly tropical, you can still find American destinations that boast balmy weather, sugar-sand beaches, and frozen rum runners. The southern regions of the Lower 48 sit within the pleasant subtropical and Mediterranean climate zones. Off the mainland, you can escape to the literal tropics in spots like Hawaii and Puerto Rico without needing a passport. (The territories of American Samoa and Guam also lie within the tropics, but passports are required for those more distant isles.)
Whether they're geographically tropical or not, these U.S. islands, beach towns, and resorts make for the perfect sunny vacation.
Key West, Florida
Florida is the land of sunshine, daiquiris, and endless beaches, with 1,300 miles of coastline stretching along the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico . It's also home to the island city of Key West in the Florida Keys , the southernmost point in the continental U.S. This palm-lined paradise is known for its sugary sand and Bahamian-inspired architecture. The aromas of Key lime and cigar smoke entice you into the laid-back atmosphere that attracted the likes of Ernest Hemingway, Rita Hayworth, Gregory Peck, and Robert Frost. Experience how Old Hollywood lived by booking an oceanfront room at the majestic Casa Marina Key West , which has been hosting stars since 1920.
Kauai, Hawaii
For a true tropical destination, head to Hawaii. Home to some of the world's best islands , Hawaii is all blue lagoons and fragrant hibiscus. Kauai is resplendent with rainforests and waterfalls best viewed on a hike. After a day on the trails, head to the oceanfront Ko ' a Kea Resort on Po'ipu Beach for a relaxing spa visit, a dip in the pool, or a nap on the tranquil beach.
Amelia Island, Florida
Find shorelines fringed in beach grass and barnacle-covered piers on this quiet barrier island off the northeast coast of Florida. Hunt for seashells in the morning and then head to quaint downtown Fernandina Beach for a strawberry ice cream cone to beat the rising heat in the afternoon. When you’re not strolling the flat, wide beach, explore the area's diverse wildlife at Amelia Island State Park . And when it's time to wind down, head to The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island , for a massage or one of the hotel's signature spa treatments.
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands
The U.S. Virgin Islands — an archipelago in the Caribbean — encompasses three islands: St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix , the largest and perhaps most relaxed. It's is awash with vibrant reefs, sugar-sand beaches, and hidden coves to discover by snorkeling and scuba diving. The candy-colored towns of Christiansted in the east and Frederiksted in the west offer a wealth of historical sites, fine dining, golf, and shopping. The island has intimate hotels and all-inclusive resorts , so you can choose anything from barefoot luxury to outright extravagance.
Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama
The aquamarine waters and soft sands of the U.S. Gulf Coast are legendary. And, with summer (never mind water) temps in the 80s, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama , are bona fide tropical vacation destinations. Recline on fluffy white beaches with a rum punch, go deep-sea fishing, hit the waves in a speedboat, and pick up an airbrushed T-shirt to remember it all when you go home. Catch some sun by your own private pool when you rent a house from Kiva Dunes Resort and Golf .
Maui, Hawaii
Taylor McIntyre/Travel + Leisure
Travel the scenic road to Hana on the Hawaiian island of Maui to see the area's black-sand beaches, upcountry farms, and posh resorts . If sightseeing on foot rather than by car is more your style, take advantage of the island's legendary hiking and discover its verdant cliffs, misty waterfalls, and bold rainbows. Found on one of the state’s largest nature preserves, The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua has all the palm shade, rocky shoreline, and championship greens you could ever want.
Dauphin Island, Alabama
Be on the lookout for dolphins' fins cutting through the glassy waters off this barrier island south of Mobile Bay in the Gulf of Mexico. First, you’ll have to traverse a three-mile-long bridge to reach its white sands and vibrant sunsets. Local accommodations include beachfront rentals and popular pastel resort condominiums. It's worth spending a day exploring life under the water at the Alabama Aquarium , in the air at the Audubon Bird Sanctuary , or from the past at the Indian Shell Mound Park .
South Padre Island, Texas
This barrier island near the southern tip of Texas is a year-round oasis. The island features 34 miles of white-sand beaches, clear, warm water, mild weather, and lots to do. Fishing, boating, and visiting the Birding, Nature Center, and Alligator Sanctuary are just a few ways to enjoy the area. Savor a margarita at Isla Grand Beach Resort 's waterfront café, hop in the pool, take in some live music, or gaze at the glorious sunset from the comfort of your very own beach cabana.
Catalina Island, California
Located off the coast of Southern California, Catalina Island is both hot and lush, with beaches, mountains, and plenty of places to stay, from resorts to campsites. The Hotel Atwater has been hosting Catalina Island guests in Avalon since 1920, while over at Banning House Lodge in the Two Harbors area, you’ll find chic bed-and-breakfast accommodations and views of Catalina Harbor. Snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, diving, boating, mountain biking, zip lining, and hiking are just a few activities to keep you entertained on this island gem.
Oahu, Hawaii
From the sophisticated capital of Honolulu to the massive swells on the North Shore and Waikiki’s picture-perfect sand, Oahu is a little slice of paradise in the Pacific Ocean. Grab a shaved ice before heading out to Diamond Head ( Leahi ), one of the area’s most famous volcanic craters, or exploring the world-famous Waikiki Beach. Sparkling blue-green waters stretch out around Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani resort, where the guest rooms are as heavenly as the signature coconut cake.
Santa Barbara, California
Though it's often called the "American Riviera," Santa Barbara feels like a tropical island thanks to its abundant palm trees, verdant gardens, sandy beaches, and boat-filled harbor . Visitors enjoy the sunny climate, Pacific Ocean views, and outdoor adventures like hiking, biking, fishing, and golf. Rest in the shade of a palm at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara , set on the rugged cliffs overlooking the water. Enjoy the breezy nights around a private fire pit on your room’s patio or breathe in the calming scent of the spa's eucalyptus steam room.
Daufuskie Island, South Carolina
The Spanish moss, salt marshes, and coastal waterways of the South Carolina Lowcountry color this idyll sandwiched between Savannah and Hilton Head Island. The landscape is as rich as the flavors on your plate when you sample fresh seafood boils, shrimp and grits, and gumbo. The pristine island is only accessible by ferry, so enjoy the car-free tranquility as you bike under dense tree canopies to the shell-strewn shoreline. Here, you’ll find boating, horseback riding, and guided tours. The island’s charm carries over into its oceanfront cottages and abundant vacation home rentals.
Tybee Island, Georgia
Grassy sand dunes and a historic black-and-white striped lighthouse bring a quaint coastal feel to Tybee Island , about 18 miles by car from Savannah. Savor a basket of fresh shrimp and a cold Tropicália IPA under an umbrella at a beachfront restaurant while you watch the colorful sunset. Loggerhead turtles nest on the barrier island, and the Tybee Island Marine Science Center offers educational programs on their habitats. Day trippers can stay in a charming hotel off one of Savannah’s mossy, cobblestone streets, like the boutique accommodations at the Olde Harbour Inn or the sophisticated trappings of the Perry Lane Hotel .
Molokai, Hawaii
About a 25-minute flight from Maui, the remote Hawaiian island of Molokai is a great tropical vacation option. Tucked behind a barrier reef, it boasts the world's highest sea cliffs and Hawaii's tallest waterfall, so you’ll never want for outdoor adventures in these tropical environs. Check in to Hotel Moloka’i for its Polynesian-style bungalows, airy restaurant, and ocean-view pool.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
With palm trees, white-sand beaches, and the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. forest system , Puerto Rico is the Caribbean getaway of your dreams. It’s 1,000 miles south of Miami, and you won’t need a passport to visit this U.S. territory. Take rainforest hikes, sunbathe on the island’s stunning beaches , or tour everything from Old San Juan to restaurants to the jungle. When you’ve had your fill of ceviche and piña coladas, head to the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel , where guests revel in five-star accommodations, fine dining, a tranquil spa, and sea views.
Las Vegas, Nevada
That’s no mirage — it's just the palm-lined pool at the resort of the same name where you can dine in a Polynesian-style café. Yes, it's in the middle of the Nevada desert, but in Las Vegas, you can find tropical oases around every corner. At Mandalay Bay , for instance, a sandy beach, wave pool, lazy river, and aquarium bring the South Pacific to you.

How Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Celebrated 28th Anniversary After His Kiss Confession
Kelly ripa rang in her 28th wedding anniversary with mark consuelos after he confessed to sharing a "passionate" kiss with another woman. see how the couple celebrated the relationship milestone..
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are kissing goodbye to another great year together.
The Live With Kelly and Mark cohosts celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary on May 1, which also happened to be Couple's Appreciation Day. Befitting of the occasion, Mark shared on their daytime talk show all the ways he appreciates Kelly, saying that one of their goals as a couple is to "continue what we've got going."
"And by that I mean getting all the kids off the payroll," quipped the Riverdale actor, who shares kids Michael , 26, Lola , 22, and Joaquin , 21, with Kelly. "We can taste it! We can taste the financial freedom. Not that we're not grateful for the three beautiful children that we love and adore."
But jokes aside, Mark also had nothing but sweet words for his longtime love. As he wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the pair on a tandem bike, "Forever thankful you decided to go on this crazy, beautiful ride with me."
On her own page, Kelly shared photos of herself and Mark throughout the years. "Squeezing 28 years into 10 pics is not possible, but you get the idea," she joked in the caption . "Happy anniversary to the love of my life @instasuelos. So grateful to you for all the dreams come true."

In the sunny snap, the Hope & Faith actress was pictured closing her eyes while Mark kept his open, a habit Kelly pointed out when Mark recently confessed to kissing another woman .
Explaining how their Campobasso 1919 soccer team had just won the championship, Mark shared on the April 30 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark that he and another spectator at the game shared a "passionate" kiss through a plexiglass during the "adulation" of the victory celebration.
"I actually closed my eyes during the kiss," he joked. "I closed my eyes, and my back foot went up."
To which Kelly quipped, "You never close your eyes! That is incredible!"

Bad Bedroom Behavior
So much for pillow talk. When husband Mark Consuelos joined Kelly Ripa for a February 2017 episode of Live! With Kelly (some six years before he claimed a permanent spot at the desk), she used the opportunity to issue a complaint . "When there's special married couple time in our house," she explained, "he's immediately mean to me afterwards and I don't like that. I think it's bizarre. He becomes short with me, like irritated." Though Kelly later insisted it was just a joke , her husband of two-plus decades felt the need to defend himself when he noticed her quip had become a trending news story. "I just wanted to set the record straight that no one can be mean after something if they are unconscious," he declared on-air days later. "I sleep." Echoed his bride, "Maybe that's what I meant. I didn't really mean mean. I meant completely disinterested—like sound asleep."
Perhaps a DM Would Have Been Appropriate?
There's a reason kids Michael Consuelos , Lola Consuelos and Joaquin Consuelos are forced to tread lightly whenever they take an innocent scroll through social media. Consider the time Mark revealed he'd be "taking over" the Instagram feed for his series Riverdale during a 2019 episode, prompting Kelly to comment , "Oooooooooooo. Daddy, I love when you take over." It's just one of the reasons why the morning show fixture is pretty confident her children have done their best to erase any sign of them from social media. "I'm certain they have blocked any channel with any mention of our names," Kelly told E! News in April 2023. "Just like they block us on social media. They block us any way they can."
Pants on Fire
Is that your gun or...? When Kelly posted a series of Halloween throwbacks in 2020—including Mark and pal Bruce Bozzi in full CHiPs regalia—her husband had a little something to say about the tight fit of his trousers. "Full disclosure, I believe that's definitely a shadow that's causing that bulging effect," he commented, causing his bride to reply, "ummmmm baby are you seeing shadows?" And when Kelly appeared on E!'s Daily Pop days later, she wasn't afraid to address what her man was packing. After host Justin Sylvester noted that was why they'd been married so long, she responded, "It's not the only reason. But I would say the top three."
What a View
Not that she's griping, but the Halloween photo frenzy caused Kelly to get in the habit of doing a full-body scan before sharing any family memories. When Justin Sylvester commented on Instagram that Kelly had been very deliberate with the images she'd shared from a November 2020 tropical getaway, the morning host cheekily replied , "You have no idea how carefully. And how limiting it all is (I'm not complaining)."
Taking Care of Business
The secret to their ever-lasting marriage after almost 30 years and three kids? "Love and sexy time," Kelly said during a 2021 episode of Live!
The couple's intimate way of dealing with stress came up when Mark was filling in as a guest co-host and he and Kelly were discussing the show Scenes From a Marriage .
"I was like, none of this would ever be happening in the Mark Consuelos household, because he would have nipped all of this in the bud immediately," Kelly said of the marital turmoil they watched. "He would have been like, 'Oh, you're upset? I know how to take care of that. Oh, you don't feel good about something? I'll take care of that. Oh, you're feeling like maybe you're overworked? I got you. I know what you need.'"
She continued, "Because everything for Mark is settled with—" before Mark interjected, "Love."
Kelly added, "Love and sexy time." Mark said, "Not everything. Not everything!" But she confirmed, "Just about almost everything."
A Slip of the Tongue
Mark used some, uh, colorful language when Kelly posted a photo of herself in a rainbow-hued sequin sweatshirt . Commenting on the "More Glitter, Less Twitter" messaging on her top, the actor asked , "Baby, is that a G or a C..asking for a friend."
Ah, Memories
Mooooooom ! Apparently celebrating youngest son Joaquin's 18th birthday brought to mind memories of being in her birthday suit. Because when Mark posted an Instagram tribute in February 2021, writing, "Our little guy is all grown up," Kelly commented, "You know what? Making him was so much fun." And apparently quite the international experience, with Mark noting he was, uh, "made" during a trip to Montreal.
Let's Talk About Sex, Baby
When Andy Cohen tasked his good pal with playing a game called "Have You Schtupped There?" on a September 2022 episode of Watch What Happens Live , the answer was unequivocally yes. Public bathroom? Check. On set during their All My Children days? Mm-hmm. When they were on a boat? Uh-huh. As Cohen cracked, "You used to go to the bay in front of my house and schtup on that boat of yours." But while he surmised, "based on your Instagram PDA alone, it's hard to imagine a place you and Mark haven't done the deed," there are a few spots that remain unchristened. Kelly confirmed they hadn't (yet) gotten busy in a car on the way to an event, in a department store dressing room or on the set of her daytime talk show.
Logging Some Face Time
Kelly's favorite position? The one that puts her good side on display. At the height of the pandemic, when she was based in NYC for her show and he was shooting Riverdale in Vancouver, "We had sexual rituals that were so ludicrous," she recalled on a March 2023 episode of her Let's Talk Off Camer a podcast. And also quite crafty. "I became so alarmed at my appearance over FaceTime," she noted, "that I started hanging the computer on a ladder, so that I could look up to Mark [and] he did not have to see what gravity was actually doing."
Apparently Kelly isn't the type to mix business with pleasure. While commenting on the romance that spelled the end of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes ' stints as co-hosts on ABC's GMA3, Kelly joked that she and Mark were following network protocal now that he's joined her behind the Live desk. She and her husband of 27 years "have taken a vow of chastity while we'll be working together," Kelly shared on Watch What Happens Live this past April. "Because I know how ABC does not like that, you know, TV partners banging on the side," she added. "So, we promise, no banging on the side."
I Think We're Alone Now
Once youngest Joaquin was off to college in 2021 , the married duo got used to feathering an empty nest. "Mark and I had gotten into our habits of just sort of wandering around as we please, you know, leaving the doors open as we please," Kelly told E! News in June . "And then, lo and behold, Lola comes back from London and now we've gotta lock it up again. Joaquin came home for his summer break, and we had to lock it up again." And when her parents moved into their New York pad for a stretch, the lack of privacy forced them to get a bit more creative. "You have no idea," she cracked, "the lengths that we go to."
"Freak Week"Deets
When Lola moved back in with her parent for her last semester of college, she got ainto the habit of walking into their bedroom without knocking they'd like to break.
So, in pure Mark fashion, he teased their daughter on what to expect when she enters their room unannounced from now on.
"Be warned Lola Conseulos. 'Cause this week's freaky week, isn't it?" Mark quipped during a January episode of Live! With Kelly and Ryan . To which Kelly replied with a laugh, "Why this week? Is this historically freaky week?" Mark noted with a smile, "It is now."
As for what led to the NSFW warning? Mark and Kelly explained during the episode that after Lola kept opening their bedroom door without giving warning, Mark had a chat with her.
"I said, 'Lola, I don't want you to take this the wrong way,'" he explained. "'I'm very excited that you are home. We missed you. You are the heart of this family. You're so funny and you're just fantastic. But you gotta knock.'"
