Here’s blink-182’s setlist from their first Australian tour in over 10 years

blink-182 hit Perth last night (February 8) for their first Aussie show in a looooong while, and they gave some ONE MORE TIME… bangers their live debuts.

Here’s blink-182’s setlist from their first Australian tour in over 10 years

Last night (February 8), blink-182 launched their first Australian tour in over a decade.

The pop-punk legends made their return down under by kicking things off at Perth’s RAC Arena, having last played in the country for travelling fest Soundwave back in 2013 (however that live line-up consisted of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and drummer Brooks Wackerman, as Travis Barker hadn’t yet overcome his fear of flying and therefore had to miss that tour).

And the trio gave their waiting Aussie fans plenty of treats – from classic singles like The Rock Show, Feeling This and I Miss You through to a couple of live debuts from last year’s brilliant ONE MORE TIME… album: blink played FUCK FACE and TURPENTINE for the first time ever, and ANTHEM PART 3 for the first time in full.

They’ve another Perth show tonight, before gigs in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and then blink will cross over to New Zealand to perform in Auckland and Christchurch.

Blinkmas Ends: 18 Awe-Inspiring Moments from blink-182’s Australian Return

Posted on February 29, 2024 by Paul 'Browny' Brown

blink 182 australian tour 2004

They say post-gig depression is a real thing and I have no doubt a couple hundred thousand blink-182 fans are going to be living out a real-life hell this weekend following the group’s FINAL Australian show tonight in Melbourne.

From the first date (ha!) in Perth on Feb 8th (revisit our gallery here ), Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker have been jetting around the country, making up for 20 years of lost time, spread across 15 shows – many of which had uber fans travelling tens of thousands of kilometres across the nation just to get their long-awaited pop punk fix.

But what made #blinkmas one for the history books? Well, it’s a little more complicated than you’d think, so I’ve compiled the following awe-inspiring moments from the Australian Tour to try and narrow down just how important this was for fans and the band as a collective unit…

1 – Travis Barker Back in Australia for the first time since 2004.

The last time Travis Barker set foot in Australia was 2004 on the infamous Untitled Album Tour where he broke his foot following the second Melbourne show on March 11 . The tour was then consequently postponed until August of that year. Barker also injured his hand prior to +44 ‘s debut at Soundwave Festival in 2007 and couldn’t play – so we’re all glad he remained injury-free this entire run.

Following his 2008 plane crash, Barker lived with a crippling fear of flying which found the drummer unable to attend 2013’s Soundwave Festival and Australian sideshows. Brooks Wackerman ( Avenged Sevenfold /ex- Bad Religion ) filled in on drums during that last appearance alongside Mark and Tom. Since then Travis’s wife Kourtney has assisted him in overcoming his fear – making this entire tour possible.

As someone who has never seen Travis play live, to watch him in the flesh up close (and not on a screen) was life-changing. For many long-term fans, a significant concert bucket list goal was ticked off with his return and seeing the core trio on stage together will forever be lodged in our core memories.

To put it into perspective, it’s close to 20 years since he last performed in Australia. A generation of kids were born and became adults in that time! Speaking of kids…

2 – Parents infecting The Next Generation of Pop Punk fans!

Not only did many of us elder emos and pop punk fiends get to live out lifelong experiences, but we brought our offspring along to enjoy the antics too. Seeing so many parents and their kids screaming along to the words was infectious. I took my lil man to two Brisbane shows and he had the time of his life – he also learned a few new swear words during ‘ Family Reunion ‘ but that’s a story for another day…

For most of us, this band’s music was a source of refuge and escapism from the struggles of life in our teenage years, and to be able to experience that with our kids felt like an unattainable full-circle moment for most of us.

Anyone who took their kids (or someone else’s) scores Parent of the Year in my books.

3 – ‘Wendy Clear’ played for the First Time in 20 years!

Talking about making memories, when blink surprised fans by pulling out ‘ Wendy Clear ‘ during the third Brisbane show, many of us sat stunned trying to figure out what was going on. For the most part, the setlist remained the same across Australia, but swapping out ‘ Man Overboard ‘ for another Enema of the State throwback was the nostalgia hit to the sack we didn’t know we needed.

4 – The Artwork of Blink: Tour Posters and Show-Specific Merch

As a blink collector, we want a little extra oomph with our experience and not only did the VIPs get treated with our very own plush bunny and commemorative passes, but the show-specific gig posters and merch t-shirts were a nice touch for the true fans among us.

From incredible anime designs to local landmark features, all the way through to the interchanging t-shirt designs sold at each show – it made us feel like the tour went above and beyond to give fans a unique experience for every single show – making it fun, fresh and exciting for those who attended (especially those of us who hit multiple gigs).

5 – The Dick/Sex Jokes and On-Stage Banter was Top-Notch

Another huge part of a blink-182 show is the on-stage banter and comedy routine led by Mark and Tom – and after all of these years, they’re still bouncing off each other like they did during their glory years down under (think Big Day Out 2000) and nothing was off limits!

The duo touched on everything from Tom’s departures, Mark’s sister’s boobs, aliens, and even called out punters leaving mid-show to go poo-poo… all the way through to Mark’s battle with cancer and his iconic Siri joke that resulted in several Apple users texting their Mum’s asking to see their ass.

It was all light-hearted fun that filled us with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia but in 2024.

6 – LIVE Debuts of ‘Turpentine’, ‘Anthem Part 3’ and ‘Fuck Face’

Back in October, the band’s comeback album ONE MORE TIME… was released and sent the pop punk scene into a frenzy. To be able to hear songs such as ‘ Turpentine ‘ and ‘ Anthem Part 3 ‘ in full before anyone else in the world is a special moment that will stick with us for years to come.

Also, seeing and hearing Travis Barker performing ‘ Fuck Face ‘ was another one for the blinkstory books!

7 – The Blink Community Online

We’ve all heard the stories of toxic fandoms and communities ruining experiences, but the blink fandom looked out for each other. Groups and group chats were sent into overdrive as we followed the band’s journey across the country with many fans who were venturing solo to shows being invited to link/meet up with strangers who shared the same passion and appreciation for the band.

Old friends and school peers came out of the woodwork and seeing everyone having the time of their lives on socials really showcased a side of us that had remained dormant for decades.

8 – 27 Career-Spanning Songs from 1997 to 2023

This was THE tour for catalogue-frothing blink fans. We heard tracks from almost every era of the group including 1997’s Dude Ranch , 2001’s Take Off Your Pants And Jacket , 2011’s Neighborhoods , and even 2016’s album California got a run (more on that in a second).

While old-school fans lapped up deep dives from Enema Of The State (such as ‘ Dysentery Gary ‘, ‘ Aliens Exist ‘, ‘ Man Overboard ‘ and ‘ Wendy Clear ‘), 2003 Untitled fanboys and girls lost our collective minds to ‘ I Miss You ‘, ‘ Feeling This ‘, ‘ Down ‘ and ‘ Violence ‘.

Hearing ‘ Stay Together For The Kids ‘ performed by the trio who recorded it is an experience I’ll take with me to my grave, as well as the tear-inducing closer ‘ One More Time ‘.

9 – Tom Singing California- era single ‘Bored to Death’

As mentioned before, California ‘s lead single ‘ Bored To Death ‘ got a run with Tom stepping up to the plate in place of Matt Skiba , who joined the outfit between 2015-2022 in his absence and kept the band alive.

That album was a significant entry in blinkstory because without Skiba’s inclusion, who knows if the group would have continued for a second time without Tom. The subtle nod to that era was welcomed and hopefully, in future, we see a 4-piece tour with Skiba singing songs from the California and NINE albums… #blink182erastour anyone?

11 – SHOOEY FREE SHOWS!

For the first time in a LONG time – our gig experience wasn’t interrupted by unruly concertgoers taking attention away from the stage. Shooeys are shit and we need to stop subjecting any/all touring musicians to peer pressure to take part.

Compromise: Drink from your own sure, but stop forcing the idea upon every other musician that comes here.

12 – Interstate Sledging Caused Headlines

I found out Perth Times is a try-hard, Daily Fail from ALDI “news” outlet that lost their minds when blink made jokes about Perth. The band also ripped into Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane and it was funny as fuck for everyone who didn’t get offended or try to make cringe-worthy click-bait articles about it…

13 – Mark’s Post-Show Discord Chats with Fans

On top of the community mentioned above, a selection of fans managed to have heartfelt chats with Mark Hoppus on tour via his Discord . Most nights post-show, he’d jump on for a wind-down, talking about moments from the set, sharing photos, industry banter and joining conversations with fans.

Qudos Bank Arena was a spectacle and a half – if you’ve never seen a sold out arena show there, you’re truly missing out. The boys played 4 times in that venue and even pulled in a full crowd with Taylor Swift playing right next door.

84,000 fans saw blink-182 in Sydney alone. Let that sink in.

16 – The VIP Front Mosh – Up-Close Action for True Fans

A new thing I witnessed at a show was the VIP front mosh – which gave big fans an up-close experience that felt like an undersold 200-capacity show. All the people wanted to be there, looking out for each other and being able to endure the entire show without needing to escape the action.

There were moshers, there was wheelchair access, there were fans watching with ample space between them and the next person, and it was perfect. Definitely worth the price/experience if you want to get sweaty surrounded by people who love your favourite band’s entire catalogue.

17 – Mark Hoppus Trolls Taylor Swift Fans

Growing up blink-182 were the biggest band of our generation and fans were just as fanatic as Swifties were (we just didn’t have social media to prove it back then). So, seeing Mark Hoppus rock up next door to their Sydney show and start trolling Taylor Swift fans (WHO HAD NO IDEA WHO HE WAS) for not going to blink was not only hilarious, but proved how far the generation gap has come since our own adolescence.

18 – The Fashion and Costumes

Between the Boomers, Enema Nurses and blink-specific fashion outfits and costumes, there was plenty of fun to be had away from the stage. Die-hards dressed to impress with every fan tipping their hats to their fav era of the group.

In closing, the shows and overall experience from this tour will be spoken about for years to come. Many fans found closure to certain moments we had been longing for, while others topped up their blink live concert counts to well over fanatic levels.

Thank you blink-182 , we needed this… more than you know xoxo

blink-182 add final dates to sold out Australian tour

Three members of Blink-182 shot through a fisheye lens. Travis Barker is shirtless, Mark Hoppus holds up the peace sign

  • X (formerly Twitter)

A fifth and final Melbourne date has been added to blink-182 's blockbuster Australian tour.

The band will round out their visit Down Under with a performance at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena the last week of February.

That brings the total number of Aussie dates for this tour to 15: all of them in arenas, all of them sold out except one remaining Sydney show and this new Melbourne date.

You'll want to be quick getting tickets, they're on sale from 12pm Monday 19 June. Full dates are below.

The first Australian blink-182 tour (with the classic lineup) in almost a decade has been fleshed out with even more extra tour dates.

The announcement of the initial dates for February 2024 was met with huge response from fans. Earlier this week, a new round of shows were announced to meet demand and already, they have sold out!

So, for everyone who missed the original round of tickets and then the extra shows, fear not! Four extra shows have been put on the list.

The complete and updated list of Australian tour dates can be found at the end of this article.

Tickets for the new shows are on sale from 12pm local time via Live Nation .

For the first time in almost a decade, the classic line-up of Mark, Tom, and Travis are together again

The rumours have swirled for a long time, but it's now a reality. After almost ten years away from the band he formed, Tom DeLonge has re-joined blink-182 .

To celebrate, the band – which is now back to its classic formation of Mark Hoppus , Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker – have locked in a staggeringly huge world tour, which includes some big arena shows for Australia in early 2024.

Blink are not coming alone, either. Joining them are hugly popular Chicagoan rockers Rise Against , making this one hell of a double bill.

All the dates and ticketing info is at the bottom of the article.

DeLonge left blink-182 in 2015, at which point Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba joined the band. His return to the fold has been rumoured for some time, most recently in August of this year after he posted a photo of the band to Instagram.

It's been 30 years since Hoppus and DeLonge formed blink-182 and almost 25 years since Barker joined them, which coincided with the band breaking through to become mainstream punk rock darlings.

While the 90s was rife with influential punk bands, few can attest to having the same enduring influence that Blink continue to have today. Records like 1999's Enema Of The State , 2001's Take Off Your Pants and Jacket , and 2003's self-titled album are key records in the history of pop-punk.

Since the very start, Australia has had an affinity with this band. Those who witnessed their first tour here in the mid-90s still marvel at how good those shows were, while each subsequent visit saw them play to bigger and bigger crowds.

The band's last Australian shows were as part of the 2013 Soundwave festival, though drummer Travis Barker did not make the trip on that occasion due to a fear of flying stemming from a fatal 2008 air crash he survived.

Barker is back flying and will be a part of the band for the forthcoming shows.

It's been a big year or so for the band. On top of the reunion, and Barker's progress with flying, Mark Hoppus was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2021 before being declared cancer free towards the end of last year.

On top of the tour news, blink-182 have promised us some brand-new music, with their new single 'Edging' set to land this Friday.

The band announced their return with a video that can only be described as "very blink-182".

If you're allergic to double entendres and juvenile humour, then we're not sure why you're reading an article about blink-182, and you should probably skip the below video.

Here are the dates for blink-182's Australian tour in 2024.

Blink: 'sydney sucked so ... bad we had to cancel christchurch'.

Californian pop punk trio Blink-182 finally acknowledged the last-minute cancellation of their Christchurch show during a recent Melbourne concert, by taking a jab at the South Island city.

In a clip circulating on social media, the band's drummer, Travis Barker, mistakenly addressed the Melbourne crowd as Sydney, before bassist Mark Hoppus kept the joke going with a gag about the recently cancelled show.

"To be honest Sydney sucked so f...ing bad, we had to cancel Christchurch," he said.

Guitarist Tom DeLonge responded: "F... Christchurch."

"That's a gnarly name for a town, can you imagine naming your f...ing city that?"

"If I were God," replied Hoppus.

The New Zealand leg of the reunion tour of the pop punk trio - known for hits such as 'Miss You' and 'All The Small Things' - was first announced in 2022, before being later rescheduled due to fast-selling Australian tickets that saw the band add four more dates to their tour leg across the ditch.

The cancellation of the 4 March Christchurch show was announced in an email to ticket holders in February, citing "unanticipated logistical issues outside of the band's control".

Neither the band or its members had addressed the cancellation on social media since the announcement.

Christchurch Blink-182 fan, James O'Caiside who had tickets to the Wolfbrook Arena concert, said he was not surprised by the band's comments.

"To be fair, they've always ripped on anything live. I would happily hear them say, 'F... you Christchurch' in Christchurch."

Councillor Andrei Moore, who heads the arts and creative industries portfolio at Christchurch City Council, condemned the comments.

Writing on Facebook, he said: "Disappointing to learn of Blink-182 saying 'f*** Christchurch' on stage in Melbourne after cancelling their sold-out show that many Christchurch folk and visitors bought tickets for 18 months in advance.

"We've been through more than our fair share of challenges over the years which have led to many concert cancellations but I can't ever recall any of them being followed up with an attitude as bad as this one."

A spokesperson for the promoter recently told Stuff there would be no further comment or statement, outside of what was emailed to ticket holders.

The band will still play Auckland's Spark Arena on 2 March.

'One more time’, lo nuevo de Blink 182

Most Beautiful Metro Stations in Moscow

Most Beautiful Metro Stations in Moscow

Visiting Moscow? Get yourself a metro card and explore Moscow’s beautiful metro stations. Moscow’s world-famous metro system is efficient and a great way to get from A to B. But there is more to it; Soviet mosaic decorations, exuberant halls with chandeliers, colourful paintings and immense statues. Moscow’s metro is an attraction itself, so take half a day and dive into Moscow’s underground!

The best thing to do is to get on the brown circle (number 5) line since the most beautiful metro stations are situated on this line. The only exception is the metro stop Mayakovskaya one the green line (number 2). My suggestion is to get a map, mark these metro stops on there and hop on the metro. It helps to get an English > Russian map to better understand the names of the stops. At some of the metro stops, the microphone voice speaks Russian and English so it’s not difficult at all.

Another thing we found out, is that it’s worth taking the escalator and explore the other corridors to discover how beautiful the full station is.

Quick hotel suggestion for Moscow is the amazing Brick Design Hotel .

These are my favourite metro stations in Moscow, in order of my personal preference:

1. Mayakovskaya Station

The metro station of Mayakovskaya looks like a ballroom! Wide arches, huge domes with lamps and mosaic works make your exit of the metro overwhelming. Look up and you will see the many colourful mosaics with typical Soviet pictures. Mayakovskaya is my personal favourite and is the only stop not on the brown line but on the green line.

2. Komsomolskaya Station

Komsomolskaya metro station is famous for its yellow ceiling. An average museum is nothing compared to this stop. Splendour all over the place, black and gold, mosaic – again – and enormous chandeliers that made my lamp at home look like a toy.

3. Novoslobodskaya Station

The pillars in the main hall of Novoslobodskaya metro station have the most colourful stained glass decorations. The golden arches and the golden mosaic with a naked lady holding a baby in front of the Soviet hammer and sickle, make the drama complete.

blink 182 australian tour 2004

4. Prospect Mira Station

The beautiful chandeliers and the lines in the ceiling, make Prospekt Mira an architectural masterpiece.

blink 182 australian tour 2004

5. Belorusskaya Station

Prestigious arches, octagonal shapes of Socialistic Soviet Republic mosaics. The eyecatcher of Belorusskaya metro station, however, is the enormous statue of three men with long coats, holding guns and a flag.

blink 182 australian tour 2004

6. Kiyevskaya Station

The metro station of Kiyevskaya is a bit more romantic than Belorusskaya and Prospect Mira. Beautiful paintings with classical decorations.

7. Taganskaya Station

At the main hall Taganskaya metro station you will find triangle light blue and white decorations that are an ode to various Russians that – I assume – are important for Russian history and victory. There is no need to explore others halls of Taganskaya, this is it.

blink 182 australian tour 2004

8. Paveletskaya Station

Another and most definitely the less beautiful outrageous huge golden mosaic covers one of the walls of Paveletskaya. I would recommend taking the escalator to the exit upstairs to admire the turquoise dome and a painting of the St Basil’s Cathedral in a wooden frame.

Travelling with Moscow’s metro is inexpensive. You can have a lot of joy for just a few Rubbles.

  • 1 single journey: RMB 50 – € 0,70
  • 1 day ticket: RMB 210 – € 2,95

It’s absolutely beautiful! Moscow is a great city trip destination and really surprised me in many ways.

My partner and I did a self guided Moscow Metro tour when we were there 2 years ago. So many breathtaking platforms…I highly recommend it! Most of my favorites were along the Brown 5 line, as well. I also loved Mayakovskaya, Arbatskaya, Aleksandrovski Sad and Ploshchad Revolyutsii. We’re heading back in a few weeks and plan to do Metro Tour-Part 2. We hope to see the #5 stations we missed before, as well as explore some of the Dark Blue #3 (Park Pobedy and Slavyansky Bul’var, for sure), Yellow #8 and Olive #10 platforms.

That’s exciting Julia! Curious to see your Metro Tour-Part 2 experience and the stations you discovered.
