Adventure and Action Punta Cana Excursions

Some of my favorite Punta Cana excursions are in this section. They’re a great way to break the lazy beach days by adding some adrenaline-infused activities to your vacation.

You don’t need to be a fitness maniac to join these tours. However, your physical level should allow you to trek for half an hour in the sweaty tropical jungle and climb a flight of stairs for most of these Punta Cana activities.

Are you ready to get a little dusty? Then, let’s explore the best adventure and action Punta Cana tours !

1. Zip Lining over the Jungle

Zip Line over the Jungle

Wanna see the jungle like Tarzan?

The zip-lining Punta Cana excursions allow you to fly over the treetops of the Dominican jungle. The best place to soar above Punta Cana’s lush tropical forests is the island’s first zip-lining course.

The expert canopy guides will not only ensure your safety. They’ll also provide fascinating insights into the surrounding jungle as you navigate from one platform to the next.

The longest cable extends 800 m / 2,600 ft. above a river, giving you 50 seconds of pure thrill.

The whole course features 16 platforms and 12 zip lines, including the two longest lines in the Caribbean.

Raise your adrenaline levels and enjoy the incredible views of the Cordillera Septentrional mountain range from platforms built within centenary trees. All while securely clipped to the lines.

🎒 What to Bring : Mosquito repellent to keep those nasty bugs away.

📍 How to Book : Join the tour of the awesome 12 zip-line cables course via this link . Pick-up service from your hotel is included.

2. Riding a Buggy

Buggy Tours Are Some Of The Best Things To Do In Punta Cana

Feel the speed of the open buggies or quads , go off the main street and onto the dirt roads through Dominican villages, plantations, and farms.

Reach your destination on a secluded beach, take a dip into the water, and then head back to your hotel to wash off the dust and relax your bones.

✔️ Tip : After a break, don’t try to sit on your seat before cooling it with a splash of water. The dark seats attract the sun and heat up quickly.

🎒 What to Bring : A bandana or a scarf to protect your face from the sand and dust, a pair of (sun)glasses to protect your eyes, and plenty of water.

📍 How to Book : Use this link to book the best buggy tour in Punta Cana .

3. Parasailing over Punta Cana

Parasailing in Punta Cana

Elevate your vacation with a heart-pumping parasailing experience.

You’ll reach almost 60 m / 200 ft. and enjoy a staggering view of Punta Cana’s coastline. Feel the breeze as you look out to the crystal waters and pristine beaches of the Dominican Republic.

✔️ Tip : Try to relax your body into the harness to fully enjoy the flight. Secure your sunglasses and anything that might fall out of your pockets.

🎒 What to Bring : Wear comfortable clothes.

📍 How to Book : Use this link to book your parasailing flight .

4. Learning to Kite-Surf

Opposed to other surf types, you don’t need strong winds or big waves to ride a kite surf.

According to instructors, most people need about 20 hours of training to learn to kite surf.

You’ll start with a smaller kite at the beach and move to a larger one once you’ve learned how to control it. Then, go into the water and feel the waves under your board and the power of the wind in your kite.

When you’re ready, make a few jumps in the air, and don’t forget to ask someone to record it for you.

🎒 What to Bring : Plenty of sun protection to avoid a nasty sunburn.

📍 How to Book : You can book lessons or rent kitesurfing gear at the KBS School .

5. Learning to Scuba Dive

Underwater

A lot of resorts offer courses for scuba diving certificates. You’ll start your practice at the resort’s swimming pool and then go out into the open waters.

Don’t neglect the rules and instructions, as diving can be detrimental to your health when done wrong.

And if you already have a certificate, go directly for a fun scuba dive in Punta Cana !

🎒 What to Bring : You’ll be provided with the gear, so you’ll only need your beach essentials.

📍 How to Book : Check if your hotel offers scuba diving lessons. And if you already have your certificate, join this ocean adventure .

Multiday Trips from Punta Cana

A couple of destinations in the Dominican Republic, such as the amazing Samaná, call for a multiday trip from Punta Cana .

You can either join an organized tour or take care of the logistics yourself. I’ve done both, and I’ve enjoyed the self-paced option way more.

Let’s see what multiday Punta Cana excursions are available.

7. Taking a Road Trip

Road Tripping Dominican Republic

If you’ve read this post carefully now, you might already have a plan for what you want to visit and explore.

So should you rent a car and just do it?

Hell, yeah!

There are no Punta Cana excursions that will fit everything you want to see and do on your visit to the tropical paradise.

Don’t limit yourself to just the things to do in Punta Cana. Venture away from the crowds and create your own adventure. My best suggestion is to visit Samana Peninsula at your own pace.

🎒 What to Bring : Navigation, cash, and a tank full of gas. Some Dominican roads are in poor condition, so my advice is to rent an SUV with full coverage.

📍 How to Book : The best way to explore any destination on a road trip is by renting your own wheels. Compare the best deals from Discover Cars .

Beach and Sea Tours in Punta Cana

Macao Beach - Dominican Republic

The Punta Cana beaches are the top reason you came to the Dominican Republic, right?

So, leave your resort and visit more than just the sand stretch in front of your hotel! These beach and sea Punta Cana excursions are worth leaving your comfy sunbed.

Let me prove that to you in this section.

8. Visiting Saona Island

Sailing to Saona Island

Embark on a catamaran adventure to Saona Island. This is the Dominican Republic’s best-selling tour. When you arrive at the idyllic Saona Island with its palm-lined, white-sand beaches and mesmerizing turquoise waters, you’ll quickly understand why.

Spend the day chilling on the lounge chairs, splashing in the natural swimming pool, or sunbathing on the pristine beach. Enjoy the delicious local cuisine and unlimited drinks from the bar before heading back.

🎒 What to Bring : Pack your beach essentials and don’t forget to apply sunscreen.

📍 How to Book : Catamaran tour to Saona Island .

9. Sailing to Isla Catalina

Sailing to Catalina Island

Embark on a full-day snorkeling adventure to Catalina Island. Explore the vibrant underwater world with a Padi-certified dive team. Snorkel at The Wall , a mesmerizing site suitable for both beginners and seasoned snorkelers.

Encounter vibrant sea creatures like corals, octopuses, and lionfish. After snorkeling, head to Catalina Island’s private beach for a feast. Try the catch of the day and lounge on the beach with a drink from the open bar.

On the way back, enjoy the stunning sunset.

✔️ Tip : Apply sunscreen before diving into the turquoise waters to avoid sunburns.

🎒 What to Bring : Don’t forget essentials like sun protection and a towel. Bring a waterproof camera to capture the spectacular underwater world.

📍 How to Book : Book your Catalina snorkeling tour here .

10. Beach Hopping near Punta Cana

Secluded Beach - Playa Limon

Punta Cana and Bavaro offer two of the most amazing, long-stretched Dominican Republic beaches . However, they are quite touristy and crowded in the peak season.

So, my best tip for your beach vacation is to rent a car and explore the coastline north of Punta Cana. You’ll discover several breathtaking, secluded Dominican beaches that feel surreal to explore.

Arm yourself with enough adventure spirit, pack plenty of water and snacks, and don’t forget your beach essentials! Keep in mind that not all beaches you’ll encounter will have a lifeguard or any facilities.

🎒 What to Bring : Sun protection, water, and snacks are a must for a beach-hopping day.

📍 How to Book : The best way to explore as many awesome Dominican beaches as possible is by renting your own wheels. Compare the best deals from Discover Cars .

11. Offshore Snorkelling in the Caribbean Sea

The coral reefs around Hispaniola Island are spectacular. Hop on a boat that will take you to one of the amazing underwater spots.

Watch, but do not touch, the colorful corals and fishes.

✔️ Tip : Be careful when choosing your tour. Some of these Punta Cana excursions consist of more drinking and partying than snorkeling.

🎒 What to Bring : Pack plenty of sun protection and your beach essentials. The best way to prevent a nasty sunburn is to wear a swim T-shirt and a bandana.

📍 How to Book : I recommend this awesome private catamaran cruise if you’re traveling in a group.

12. Taking a Boat Tour

Wondering what to do in Punta Cana? Take a Boat Tour - Snorkelling and Party

In Punta Cana, you’ll find boat tours for every taste.

You can party, drink, and meet other vacationers. You can watch the coral reef from the safety of your boat through a glass bottom. You can go fishing. Or even sailing.

Whatever your perfect day at sea looks like, I’m sure you’ll find a boat tour to make it happen :-)

🎒 What to Bring : Sun protection is a muse but also bring a long-sleeved shirt or a hoodie. The wind at sea may bring you chills even in the tropical heat.

📍 How to Book : My recommended boat tour includes swimming with sharks and stingrays! You can book it here .

13. Doing Some Sports

Kite

A lot of hotels and resorts offer a variety of sports at their beaches for free or for a small fee.

These might include bodyboarding, beach volleyball, kayaking, football, yoga, or exercising.

You can also do exercises on your own, take a long beach walk, or jog at the beach at sunrise.

And in the evenings, don’t miss the chance to learn some Bachata and Merengue moves, so you can impress your friends back home the next time you go dancing.

The Dominican Republic is also known for its perfect golf courses. If that’s your sport, you’ll surely find a perfect spot to practice your shots around Punta Cana.

🎒 What to Bring : Whatever sport you decide to do, make sure to put on enough sunscreen and drink plenty of water.

📍 How to Book : Ask at your hotel’s reception for the available options or wander the beach looking for local vendors.

Breathtaking Nature Excursions near Punta Cana

Nature Excursions Punta Cana

Deep caves with incredible limestone formations, wildlife-rich lagoons, and mesmerizing views over the coast are just a stone-throw away from Punta Cana.

If exploring on your own, these Punta Cana excursions in nature might take a little bit of planning and research, but the effort is well worth it. You’ll have the advantage of admiring nature’s beauty without other tourists.

14. Watching the Wildlife at the Lagoons

Visit the mangroves at Laguna Limón or Laguna Redonda to watch the birds in their habitat. Both lagoons are protected reserves.

You can hire a boat or rent a kayak on the spot. Explore the mangroves slowly to avoid disturbing the wildlife.

Local guides will give you all the information you need about the rural fishing communities, the lagoons, and the surrounding flora and fauna. They’ll also help you spot tropical birds, like herons and egrets, to make this a unique experience.

🎒 What to Bring : Pack a mosquito repellent to keep the feisty bugs off your skin. Use sun protection and stay hydrated.

📍 How to Book : Arrange your transportation by hiring a taxi or renting a car . Book a tour of the lagoons when you get there.

15. Viewing the World from above at Montaña Redonda

Montana Redonda - Hiking in Punta Cana

Did you know that you can go hiking in Punta Cana? Well, not exactly  in but just a few kilometres away.

If you’ve rented an SUV , you can drive right to the top of the 600 m / 1,969 ft. high Montaña Redonda . If not, you’ll have to climb all the way up. The ascend is not an easy one, as the road is very steep.

However, the 360° view from the top is extremely rewarding. On one side you’ll see Laguna Redonda and on the other – Laguna Limón and Playa Limón in the distance.

🎒 What to Bring : You’ll find a small picnic area at the top, so make sure to bring some provisions for a picnic.

📍 How to Book : You can enjoy the best panorama of the Punta Cana coastline by joining this tour .

16. Exploring Limestone Caves

Los Tres Ojos Cave Dominican Republic

The limestone caves Cueva de las Maravillas and Los Tres Ojos are both close to Punta Cana and Bavaro.

In Cueva de las Maravillas (Cave of Wonders), you’ll see around 500 Taino wall paintings and engravings in black and red. The highlight of the cave is the Water Mirror Gallery, where the waters of the artificial lake reflect the beautiful ceiling of the cave.

The other cave close to Punta Cana, Los Tres Ojos , is an open-air cave formation. As the name suggests, it consists of three lakes, called eyes.

An underground river supplies water to the lakes. Stalactites and stalagmites surround them. Their depth remains unexplored.

✔️ Tip : Swimming in the lakes is not allowed.

🎒 What to Bring : Sturdy shoes with good grip will come in handy.

📍 How to Book : Some tours to Santo Domingo offer a stop at one of the caves. But if you want to visit them independently, I suggest you rent a car .

17. Getting Wet at the Waterfalls

Punta Cana Waterfalls - Salto De Socoa

There are no Punta Cana waterfalls directly located in the tourist area.

The nearest waterfalls from Punta Cana are around 2:30 h drive away. Still, if you decide to visit Salto De Socoa or Salto La Jalda , you’ll be rewarded with a magnificent view and a refreshing dip in the waters.

🎒 What to Bring : You’ll need water shoes and mosquito repellent for this tour.

📍 How to Book : The best way to explore these waterfalls is on your own. You can do so by renting a car .

Exploring Dominican Everyday Life in Punta Cana

One of my favorite activities when traveling is observing the everyday life of the locals. Unfortunately, not many Punta Cana excursions offer an authentic glimpse into Dominican life.

Organized tours from Punta Cana usually include a visit to Santo Domingo, La Romana, or a short stop at a plantation. But if you want to experience these places deeper, you better don’t join a group.

Instead, hire a taxi or rent a car, talk to locals on the street, sit at a cafe, and observe the routine of the Dominicans.

Below, you’ll find my recommended authentic experiences near Punta Cana.

18. Roaming the Vibrant Capital Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo Dominican Republic

Walk the cobblestoned streets of Zona Colonial , the old town. Visit a museum or two, and enjoy medieval and Renaissance art.

Admire the 16th-century buildings and the city’s architectural gem – the cathedral Santa María la Menor. One of my favorite facts about the Dominican Republic is that it was the first built in the New World.

Discover the Alcázar de Colón, the former residence of Christopher Columbus’ son. Don’t miss the captivating exhibits at the Museum of Modern Art, showcasing contemporary Dominican art, and providing a glimpse into the city’s cultural heritage.

🎒 What to Bring : Wear sturdy, comfy shoes as you’ll be walking on cobbled streets a lot.

📍 How to Book : The best way to explore Santo Domingo is by joining this awesome tour from Punta Cana .

19. Visiting the Laid Back Higuey

Higuey was founded in the 16 th century. The Cathedral Shrine of Our Lady of Altagracia dominates the city’s landscape and can be seen from afar.

Experience the vibrant local culture by exploring the bustling market. Colors, aromas, and lively exchanges will show you the everyday life of Higuey.

Don’t forget to visit the Museo de La Altagracia to dive into the city’s cultural heritage and artistic legacy. Wrap up your day in Higuey with a stroll through its charming streets, and observe colonial-era architecture and vibrant local life.

20. Exploring the Diverse Hato Mayor

Hato Mayor

Hato Mayor del Rey (King’s Great Herd) is a rural city, founded in 1520.

The road to the city will take you through small villages, plantations, and farmland. Watch everyday life as you pass by simple and colorful houses with the laundry hanging directly on the house fence.

Once you reach Hato Mayor, find the beautiful city center and mingle with the locals in the gorgeous park.

21. Visiting the Surprising La Romana

Immerse yourself in the unexpected charm of La Romana, the heart of the sugar industry.

Wander through the downtown area, where the striking Art Deco tower of the town hall stands tall. Just a short stroll away, encounter El Obelisco, a captivating miniature reproduction of the Washington Monument. Vibrant murals depicting the rich tapestry of Taino culture and contemporary Dominican themes adorn its sides.

Continue exploring, and you’ll uncover La Romana’s unique blend of history, art, and culture at every corner.

22. Driving Through Picturesque Dominican Villages

Village Life - Laundry

Start the day early in the morning in a rental or a taxi and try to visit as many Dominican villages as possible. Take the highway, and every now and then exit it to follow the bumpy roads through the countryside.

Most buildings you’ll see are colorful simple sheds with laundry hanging in front of the door. Small yards with several plants and trees, and the friendly faces of the Dominicans round the picture.

Try to order lunch in Spanish, as outside the resorts and tourist areas most people don’t speak English. Sit and enjoy the simple but delectable food while watching the everyday activities of the Dominicans.

Note that none of the organized tours I’ve seen include this kind of experience. However, you can easily build your own Punta Cana itinerary .

🎒 What to Bring : Take some cash and fill up your tank. Pack enough water and some snacks. Bring your beach essentials if you decide to visit a beach after seeing the countryside.

📍 How to Book : Renting a car from Discover Cars is the best way to explore the vibrant Dominican villages.

23. Visiting Plantations in the Countryside

A visit to the countryside to see the plantations is one of the coolest Punta Cana excursions to make.

The tour will take you to coffee, cacao, and sugar cane plantations. Taste sugar cane, fresh fruits, mamajuana, and try handmade cigars. Learn about the importance of these plantations for Dominicans.

Afterward, you’ll meet a local farmer’s family, see their home, learn about their work, and try typical dishes. Finally, you’ll pass by a rural school, greet kids, and learn about the Dominican educational system.

📍 How to Book : You can book this immersive tour and explore plantations, farms, and country life .

24. Enjoying the Nightlife of Punta Cana

Punta Cana is packed with nightclubs and bars.

  • Learn to dance Merengue and Bachata or simply watch the Dominicans do it.
  • Go to a show or visit the one-of-a-kind  nightclub in a cave – Imagine Punta Cana .
  • Join a bonfire beach party with live music.
  • Enjoy the Caribbean Pride. The hottest and most luxurious pride celebration in the Caribbean takes place in September. During the rest of the year, you can check what other colorful events you can join in this comprehensive gay Punta Cana travel guide .

25. Shopping for Local Goods

Cigars Factory

You can bring home several great souvenirs from Punta Cana. Here are some ideas.

  • Cigars : even if you’re a non-smoker like me, puffing a flavored cigar is a great experience.
  • Rum : the best brands, according to locals, are Ron Barceló and Brugal. Ask for the extra añejo (aged). You’ll thank me ;-)
  • Coffee : quality and price ranges vary. I was happy with the supermarket coffee, but I’m sure the super-expensive gourmet brands are even better. Not sure if their price is worth it, though.
  • Cosmetics : natural cocoa butter face creams for a couple of cents each are a great bargain and something both useful and good for your skin.
  • Jewellery with amber or larimar stones : while you can find amber elsewhere, the Dominican Republic is the only producer of larimar stones. If the sky blue stones are your color, get a nice piece of jewelry to remember your trip.

As in other touristy destinations, avoid shopping at souvenir shops. You can find coffee, rum, and cosmetics at supermarkets. For cigars and jewelry, find a factory tour. This way, you’ll be certain to buy from the source and avoid scams.

Keep in mind that proper storage is extremely important, especially for cigars. Don’t ever buy from someone at the beach. Even if the quality of the cigars is good, they weren’t stored properly and are way too dry, making them a total waste of money.

📍 How to Book : Your accommodation will most probably have contacts with factories near you. The tour of that factory is usually complimentary. You’ll learn a lot about the production process and can purchase souvenirs at manufacturer prices.

Travel Tips to Best Enjoy Your Punta Cana Excursions

Secluded Beach - Playa Limon

How to find the best excursions in Punta Cana and what is the most convenient way to book them?

Here are a few tips:

  • Check what activities your hotel offers for free . Usually, these are factory and shopping tours.
  • Check what tours you can book directly at the beach . You’ll save yourself the transfer time. These Punta Cana excursions are usually boat tours and water activities.
  • Compare tour prices AND what’s included in the tour.
  • Ask other vacationers what they paid and if they recommend a tour.
  • Ask the hotel staff, e.g. your favorite bartender or waiter , for recommendations.
  • For a fixed price, you can hire a taxi for the day or for several hours. You can find a price table in front of your hotel.
  • Rent a car . A big, safe car. Pay for full-cover insurance. Drivers in Punta Cana and the rest of the Dominican Republic are relentless. Road accidents happen all the time.
  • Search and book directly online . Read the reviews of other travelers.

Don’t forget to also check the list of Dominican Republic travel tips that I’ve compiled for your next trip to the tropical paradise!

The best tours and excursions in punta cana in 2024.

Over the past few years, the Dominican Republic has acquired the honorary status of “one of the most visited and pleasant countries for tourism.” That is why a large number of various services and excursions have appeared here that can satisfy the desires of the most discerning tourists. And a huge part of terrific excursions you can experience right in Punta Cana!

Yes, this island has absolutely everything! No wonder the locals call their island the most unique place on Earth. Just imagine that on a section of 750 km from west to east and 350 km from north to south, there is such a huge number of unique and truly inimitable places. There are several climatic zones, arid deserts, lush tropical forests, wild jungles, high mountains, salt lakes, white beaches, ancient cities, rare representatives of flora and fauna, and much more.

The price starts at $89. For lovers of active vacation, there is a lot of entertainment. The main place for those who like to tickle their nerves will be Bavaro Adventure Park. The largest theme park in Punta Cana, the Jurassic park with full-sized mechanical dinosaurs, more than 15 activities such as segway, zip line, Dino World, climbing garden, bungee dome, and many more… But Zipline was the one that won the hearts of tourists.

What kind of excursions are there in Punta Cana?

Initially, the zip-line was used as a vehicle in some mountainous countries for quite a long time. Even today, in remote areas of China, trolls are used as a means of crossing rivers. This is a breathtaking 35 km/h zip line over tropical beauty! This is an opportunity to feel like a bird soaring in the sky.

A zipline is an activity when a person slides over the ground along equipped zip lines. Ziplines consist of stationary platforms connected to each other by a strong steel cable. The total length of the zip line can be up to several kilometers!

Before you go to the zipline ride, you will be given a preliminary briefing and protective equipment. Programs of zip line packages can last from 35 to 60 minutes. And you can splash in the end right into the water!

Another pleasure for extreme lovers will be a buggy tour. What is it? A dizzying ride on an all-terrain high-speed and maximum reliable vehicle on a tropical island along the ocean. Buggy is a light four-wheeled form of transport, equipped with either a car or a motorcycle engine, all-terrain, and designed for driving over rough terrain. The Buggy ride usually includes:

  • Transfer from the hotel. Buggy tour along the Atlantic coast or extreme offroad adventure. Caribbean views can't be forgotten for the rest of your life!
  • Eco-tour of the stunning countryside, swimming in the waterfall pool, lagoon, or chilling on the white beach after. And of course a delicious Dominican lunch!

The price starts at $30. In Punta Cana there's one of the best surfing schools on the island, where you can learn from the professionals, or simply rent equipment and set off on your own surfing. Along the beach, you can find a place with shallow waves for beginners and for those who want to practice their jumping and maneuvering skills on the swirling waves. Pros of surfing in Punta Cana:

  • There are no reefs here to hurt yourself. Sandy bottom
  • Wave type allows you to stand on the board from the first attempts
  • No sharks in the water. Not crowdy
  • The comfortable temperature all year round, no need for a wetsuit

4. Horseback riding

The price starts at $99. Horseback riding and interacting with these stunning animals is a great way to spend time in nature and have an unforgettable experience!

5. Parasailing

It is special entertainment. A parachute flight directly over the sea. It is breathtaking even for those who are used to the extreme. Just imagine: you enjoy the beauty of the surrounding landscape and nature flying high like a bird. The price starts at $85.

6. Snorkeling & diving

What about swimming with dolphins, sharks, sea lions, and fur seals, and other ocean creatures? Or dive into the depths of the Atlantic waters? Present an unforgettable gift to yourself and your loved ones! Find out if sharks are really that dangerous? This activity will definitely leave your heart full of joy. The price starts at just $45!

7. Nightlife in Punta Cana

Punta Cana is always “buzzing” – during the day on the beach, and at night in the bars. Here you will find the most modern nightclubs with a unique design and live music venues. Punta Cana is literally a great dance floor for the young and tireless. The hottest Latin music is right here: reggaeton, salsa, bachata, merengue … The atmosphere of happiness, best discos, best drinks, and great prices! Price starts at only $50!

8. Historical & cultural

Prices start at only $69! This is a guided tour for all history lovers and those who want to experience the real Dominican atmosphere. Take a tour of Santo Domingo and explore the world of the Colonial City, explore Dominican culture from the inside out. Or head to the village of Altos de Chavon and stroll through its historic streets, feeling the atmosphere of a 16th-century village. What about a unique combination of local, historical, and eco experiences? Get Higüey Safari Tour to see sugarcane plantation, tropical fruit ranch. There're so many places to see!

9. Yachts & boats

Did you know that the Dominican coastline is one of the longest in the Caribbean? A trip on a yacht or a boat is a great option for a family trip, a vacation for a fun company, or for a romantic date for two. In Punta Cana we offer our guests a wide choice of all kinds of boat excursions.

And the marine fauna will surely not leave you indifferent: in the Caribbean and Atlantic waters, you can often find a flock of dolphins, stingrays, large turtles, flying fish, and even Humpback Whales! Prices start at only $75!

10. Fishing tours

There are many types of outdoor activities in the Dominican Republic. But one of the most popular is still fishing in all its forms. In the Dominican Republic, you will do the coolest fishing of your life. Punta Cana is one of the largest and best blue marlin sport fishing spots in the world.

On this paradise island, you can practice not only deep-sea fishing on the high seas but also fishing on the reefs or from the shore. Without a doubt, fishing with a rod in the Dominican Republic will give you a new fishing experience! Prices start at $449.

11. Cruises

Ocean cruises are a completely unique type of vacation. Parties, drinks, entertainment, and lots of fun await you! Experience a real adventure in the waters of the Punta Cana resort! Awesome music, bartender, snorkeling, animators, stunning views of the coast are worth the try! The price starts at just $69.

Is it cheaper to buy excursions in advance?

No. If we talk about the price for the excursion, it depends on:

  • Trip duration, type of vehicle. Presence of a guide, group size
  • Additional options (private beach, lunch, drinks, special equipment, entrance tickets to museums and parks, etc.)

Group excursion or individual?

Tourists often prefer individual excursions to group ones. Of course, a group tour has its own pros, like, you can meet other vacationers, share your impressions with them. If you are traveling alone, you can ask to take a photo of you. However, the group excursion has a number of cons as:

  • A group trip presupposes following a certain schedule of the excursion, and sometimes you really want to stay in the places of interest for a longer time
  • Not everyone likes to get up early in the morning in order to travel by bus for a long time and collect the rest of the tourists for an excursion
  • Very often loud laughter and absolutely inappropriate jokes of other members of the excursion become a source of dissatisfaction and irritation
  • It's impossible to find out all the details you want about the place of interest because the guide has timing and a lot of members in a group.

An individual excursion is so different. It does not have these disadvantages. You can fully appreciate all the pros of the excursion, which takes place in a comfortable car, together with an educated and attentive guide. In this case, the route and travel schedule is based only on your preferences. So, before leaving, a route is preliminarily made up, which, if necessary, can be changed during a tour.

An individual trip with your own guide is an opportunity to stop at any time in the place you like, relax and enjoy every moment. The only cons of an individual excursion is the price. Of course, it will be higher than the prices for group excursions. However, it is not so high as to give up all its bonuses.

Here’s What You Get

We’re taking YOU to the Super-Star of off-shore islands in the Dominican Republic. Think Sun, Sand, Booze, Boats and Bikinis! You can thank us later but for now let us tell you about the ridiculously beautiful Saona Island… The first tourist boat to dock at Saona was Christopher Columbus in 1494 and Saona has not ceased to amaze visitors for the last 500+ years!

What’s so amazing about Isla Saona? A good question deserves several good answers:

  • This is a real island mon! We’re talking about 110 sq kilometers. Saona is not a tiny off-shore key. The beach stretches as far as the eye can see.
  • Is turquoise, transparent ocean water your thing? We hope! Take a Selfie because ocean water this color is found at few places on earth.
  • Seriously, white sand AND palm trees? Yes, it’s a killer combination. The quintessential Caribbean island deserves the quintessential Caribbean scenery; ivory sands lined with rows of swaying palms.

You may be saying: “Ok I get it, Saona is beautiful but why should I spend money to visit?” An excellent question deserves several excellent responses:

  • We’ll hit the Caribbean Sea on a speedboat and slowly cruise you back to the mainland on a spacious catamaran. Oh, there’s also music, animation and open bar. This is the Caribbean Sea folks. How many opportunities will you have to sail the Caribbean Sea?
  • It’s an All-inclusive, Full-Day, outing and you need some time away from your Punta Cana resort. You get the boat, the open bar and the food. Oh and we pick you up and drop you off at your lobby. That was easy!
  • The natural pool is so stunning it’s not really fair. So, we kinda take you to a sandbar, far from the coast with clear, waist deep water. We give you rum and you may find a starfish or two at your feet. We hope this sounds ok to you…
  • The time on Saona island is priceless. Visit the Tiki Bar, dance merengue, visit the Tiki Bar, play volleyball, visit the Tiki Bar, walk the beach, visit the Tiki Bar, hit the buffet.

It’s your vacation to Punta Cana and you may only have ONE opportunity to do this the right way. Go with the pros to Saona!

Isla Saona is the #1 demanded excursion in Punta Cana so Book now to ensure your spot.

The Sun the Sand and a Drink in Your hand!

Excellent service with local collection points, good connection to boats and a very good day out. My only criticism would be the beach vendors, but this is not really the companies fault so I would not drop the rating because of it

This was a fantastic cruise! I highly recommend it! The staff are awesome, the transportation to and from your hotel is nice (our van had A/C!!😁) and the lunch on the beach was delicious, fantastic, awesome!!!…

Had a great time on this excursion!! Max was our tour guide . He was very informative and made us feel secure with the locals and what we would be doing. Playing in the ocean on the sandbars, drinking rum and coke, and jetting along on a fast boat to a catamaran party. Couldn’t have had a better time. The lunch on the island was very good but the restrooms were a little scary. Make sure u bring towels and plenty of sun screen! This tour was exactly what we wanted it to be. Spending the beautiful day on the water. We even had our own pirate along for the ride.

Our tour to Saona Island was great. Punta Cana Tours did a great job making sure we had a good time. The tour operated pretty close to on time but you are in the Caribbean and everything runs a little slower here. LOL Our tour guid Ramond or Raymond was great. He spoke 4 languages and gave information very clearly so you knew what you were supposed to do and where to go.

Now to the good stuff. The bus ride was an hour through some pretty countryside on a nice bus with AC. Once you get to the drop off location where you get on the boat its time to go to the island. There is one stop along the way where you can get in waist deep tropical water and have some drinks. All provided and not watered down like I was expecting. Then back on the boat and on to the BEAUTIFUL Saona Island. Words can’t describe it. Palm tree lined seashore with white sand beaches and tropical aqua blue water. Plus they feed you and furnish all the drinks you want. Overall this trip is a MUST DO if you’re in the Dominican Republic. And Punta Cana Tours should be the tour company to take you there!

This is truly an exceptional company. It is not often you find a company with this level of customer service. A very special thank you to Garry for going above and beyond, even after hours, to make sure all of excursions and transportation needs went flawlessly. We will definitely be back many more times. As for Isla Saona, it really is like being placed inside of a post card. All of the guides made sure that we were not only safe at all times, they went out of their way to ensure we had to best time. Thank you all for making our wedding trip special for all of us.

I recommend to everyone . They picked us up at the right time in our resort ,no complaint at all. Thanks Punta Cana Tours.

Isla Saona is one of the most beautiful beaches we saw near Punta Cana, specially when we stayed inland. The water, sand, view, natural pool were the highlights of this excursion but it could have been organized a little better. The food and drinks were ok. All in all its worth it just for the transportation and beauty itself. Tip: Carry your own beach towel. A lot of sunscreen, sun glasses and snack food.

We had a great time! Its a long day on the bus. But well worth it. Nice tour ended at Saona Island for eats and a big party! We would go back!

When vacationing in a foreign place it’s always the best when you hook up with a tour group that shows you the real side of the country. I give two thumbs and two toes up for this trip. It could not have been done any better with the beautiful beaches, great barbeque and dancing. The laid back side of life is a beautiful thing. Brian S

The island of Saona is beautiful and we loved the whole experience on the catamaran. The crew were all friendly and you could tell they totally enjoyed their job. The food was good and honestly the massage (for additional fee) was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was by far our favorite day in DR. Only downside, it wasn’t clear from the website details that we would be on a bus for almost 3 hours going to the port to leave. I would definitely recommend this excursion!

Excellent service, very punctual, great environment, great food. The natural pool and Saona Island are two of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. Sandro, the tour guide was FANTASTIC, very charming, friendly, and makes sure everybody understands. (He gives the tour in Spanish, English and French). I would highly recommend Punta Cana Tours and will likely book another trip next year when I plan to take my entire family to the Dominican Republic for my wedding!.

We also used This company for a trip to Saona Island and we used them for our Airport Transportation. The Saona Island trip was beautiful I only wish we had more time to chill on the Island. The drive to and from the airport were good my one gripe is to find my driver At the airport you need to push through a sea of quick talking taxi drivers all of which try to confuse you so you buy a ride with them instead of taking the trip you already paid for. Overall I rate the company 4 out of 5 stars for one hiccup on our first excursion.

Great day trip to Saona Island! I was in Punta Cana with my boyfriend for the weekend and was so glad we took a day trip to Saona Island! We were picked up early in the morning from our resort and it was about an hour’s drive to the beach where we’d get on the boat (which is good, because we had time to sleep). We took a catamaran there and really enjoyed it. There was dance music, unlimited rum & coke, “paparazzi” staff to take our pictures, and lots of time to relax and get a tan. When we got to the beach, they gave us an AMAZING barbecue lunch, consisting of grilled pork chops, BBQ chicken, seafood spaghetti, potato salad, seasoned rice, and a bunch of other sides and fruits. The rest of the time I spent napping and swimming on the beach with my boyfriend. I didn’t time it but we had a good amount of time on the beach. The sand there is white, clean, and really lovely. After the beach, we got on a speedboat and got out to a flat pool to swim and take pictures with star fish for maybe half an hour. And again we went out to a deeper location so they could throw fish food out of the boat and we could snorkel and look at the schools of fish. After that, they offered to sell us back the “paparazzi” photos they took of us ($40, why not?) which came with photos of you, stock photos of Samoa, and the music they were playing on the catamaran. Overall, it was a super fun experience and I loved it. I want to emphasize that the staff are really fun-loving and the good vibes are infectious! They really do keep you entertained.

I would caution families on the Saona Island Trip. The island is beautiful, but just be prepared for a long day- about 5 hours round trip transfer time to and from the boats (which included changing shuttles at a gas station). There are LOTS of locals selling things at the boarding point and on the island, take money (or be prepared to say no a lot 😉). There was a photographer that took a lot of pictures of our family in the water- also for a high cost (but you can really get them down in price!) I’m not sure if we would do this again with kids- it was about a 13 hour day. We do HIGHLY recommend Punta Cana Tours for transfers and excursions and would definitely use them again!

The waters around Saona Island are crystal clear and probably some of the prettiest turquoise waters you will ever see. The beaches were super nice, the palm trees made you feel like you were in the south Pacific, and the lunch was good. The catamaran out was entertaining and speedboat back was a nice change of pace. It was a great place to visit while we were in Punta Cana and I would highly recommend a visit to Saona Island if you get the chance.

I arrived with my wife in Punta Cana this year for our vacation. I was promptly greeted by our driver who was very friendly, professional and courteous. The ride to our hotel was nice, and the van was clean, and well maintained. During the week, we also used Punta Cana tours to book a tour at Isla Saona. We had a great time! I’d highly recommend Caribbean Dream and their staff. I travel a lot, and rarely am I treated with such professionalism. Thanks for a great trip, Jared

The island was very beautiful, the ocean had far less seaweed that our resort beach, Bavaro, so we were pleased. The buffet brunch was very plentiful and good. The staff were friendly and we felt comfortable following them all day from bus to boat to island to boat to bus! My only negative remark would be the bus commute time. From our resort to the dock to board the speedboat was 3 hours. The return bus ride was half of that time, 1 1/2 hours. There were also two stops along the way that did not look like passenger pick ups.

I send an email asking few question about a tour, my surprise was to have an answer from them super fast. I booked the tour, the picked me up in the time they told. Not even 5 or 10 minutes like I’m used to (in DR they have a saying “Hora Dominicana” which is 1/2 or 1hr after the time is set up) . The tour to Saona was OUTSTANDING! The guide was explaining all the way about the city and the culture. Isla Saona is a paradise, great food and good animation team. Im already making plans to book more tours. Gracias, I had a BLAST!

Fun, Fabulous, Lots for the Price! A four hour boat trip, with snorkeling, island swimming, a ton of fresh grilled chicken, fish, and sandwiches, open bar, dancing and the most accommodating staff! Lots of fun!! A must do in Punta. Cana!

Catamaran ride to Isla Saona was the most memorable experience of our DR 2022 trip. The excursions with our hotel were pricey so I found this offer online for a much better price. The bus picks you up at the hotel and takes you to the catamaran where girls with rum and coke were already waiting for us. Everybody on the boat had a lot of fun dancing to the rhythm of latin music. The island itself is the prettiest place that I have ever been to, surrounded with palm trees, white sand and butterflies. As soon as we arrived to the island, buffet was open. On the way back we stopped by the natural pool where we took pictures with the star fish. Thank you for the great time!

We went to Saona Island with my family on 8/16 and we had the best experience ever. The ride from the Resort to the boat was smooth. We had a funny guide who kept us entertained. He spoke English very well which made it easier for us understand each other. It was a long day but was worth it. The speed boat ride, the Cataraman, party boat was really fun. We enjoyed ourselves. Thanks to the team at Punta Cana Tours. Next time we come to Punta Cana we will surely use you again. Thanks again!

Allison (verified purchase) – July 12, 2022

We booked the Saona Island excursion. The actual island experience itself was wonderful. The shuttle was late in coming to get us (which we found out later was not the fault of the tour company but a large group of guests who only showed up partially on time). There were some children on our excursion that were very loud and energetic on the bus; our tour guide was great in joking around about the noisy kids. We took the speedboat to the island, stopping at the natural pool to swim and take pictures with starfish, then relaxed at the island, ate lunch, and took the catamaran back. Other reviews mention the vendors approaching them at the island and made it seem as though they were very aggressive and wouldn’t leave you alone. I found that a firm but pleasant ‘no thank you’ for any venders ended any persuading they tried. Any of the vendors the whole week we were there weren’t loud or obnoxious, they would simply try to show you their wares but were really good about backing down when you said no. Overall we really enjoyed the trip; it was worth the long ride from our resort in Punta Cana. The island was beautiful, all of the employees and our tour guide were friendly and really made the trip fun. I’d recommend it for anybody looking into day excursions from the resorts!

We booked our tour with Punta Cana Tours after reading several online reviews. We were not disappointed. Our tour guide, Emerson, got us off to a great and welcoming start and continued to keep us informed about local information and the what to expect next on the tour. After a short drive to Bayahibe we boarded a powerboat and headed to Saona Island with a short stopover to swim with the starfish. The island, beach and water were gorgeous! A nice lunch and drinks were provided. At the end of the day we boarded a large catamaran for a lively ride back, complete with rum drinks and dancers. It was a great day and our tour guide was exceptional. Long day but well worth the time and money.

I did the excursion to Saona Island and it was pretty good. I can surely say the team of Punta Cana Tours is super attentive, punctual and professional. I know a lot of DMC companies in Punta Cana, but their Customer Service is incomparable. I highly recommend them. Besides the wonderful staff, the tour was excellent, very safe, the food and drinks really good. I had a great time!! yen

We didn’t find out until late the night before we were due to go home that our trip was going to be extended for a day due to weather back in the US. We had wanted to go to Isla Saona but did not have time during our initial trip. I immediately went online to try and book a trip to Isla Saona with an outfit. Punta Cana Tours allowed us to book at almost 9pm the day before the trip and their tour guide Max and driver Elvis were amazing! The transportation in both the van and boats were clean and safe. The trip was a beautiful way to spend our extra day. I will go again with this company in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the Dominican outside of their resort!

Had an amazing time! From the speed boat ride to the island, having pictures taken with starfish, swimming in the beautiful ocean, to the catamaran ride back, it was all extremely fun!! I would definitely recommend doing this excursion if you plan on visiting the Dominican!

Overall the experience was very pleasant. We were picked up and greeted at our hotel promptly. Once picked up, we stopped at other nearby hotels to pick up other guests who too were going on the excursion. On our way to the dock, we stopped on the side of an intersection to switch and wait for another van.The cruise, natural pool, and the island was everything the website promised. The staff was very friendly, energetic, and professional. We would highly recommend this cruise for adults as it is not too kid friendly (a lot of alcohol, loud music, an dancing).

The Isla Saona tour, it was definitely my favorite. Picked up by shuttle, transferred to bigger bus, taken to an area where we were to get on a boat and head towards our destination. This was the clearest, most beautiful blue water I have ever seen. (They had several photographers taking candid photos throughout the trip and offered a dvd to buy at the end for both excursions). The photographs taken on the Isla Saona tour were especially great, I’ll admit. Actual time on the island was only a couple of hours, including time to eat, but it was a blast. Then we left on a catamaran where more drinking and dancing ensued. We were then shuttled right back to our hotel! If returning to this area I would definitely book through this service again!

I booked this trip on line in Feb. 2022, Saona Island Excursion, after reading all the great reviews of all the other travelers. They picked us up ( wife and I ) in our hotel lobby on time like they had promised in a new and clean vehicle with the A/C on. This was the best money spent during the week. It was a full and fun filled day, catamaran boat ride out to the Island and a nice speed boat ride back. Also great entertainment, dancing and beverages for all ages all day long. I highly recommend this trip when going to Punta Cana and for a very reasonable price you can a purchase a Caribbean Lobster on the Island…Thx. Paulv-Bos

had a wonderful time. i was worried about the tourist draw for this excursion, but you’re in punta cana, you’re already part of the tourist trap. anyway, the tour guides were amazing and so accommodating. we went to the island by a speed boat and came back in a catamaran, which i think is the best and only way to do this. also, the provided buffet lunch was probably one of the best meals i had while in punta cana. fill up on the tender chicken. definitely worth going. the only annoying part was when they tried repeatedly to sell the pictures they took of us. it would have been easier if they weren’t trying to sell all the photos as a package. they’d sell more if people can just buy individual pictures. but great trip overall

Trip and service was great. Tour guide “Presidente Daniel” was a treat. We did the all day Sonana trip. It was beautiful but I wouldn’t recommend it for children. Many all day drinkers can’t handle their booze. Trip there and island was fine but boat ride back was full of college kids that were there for free booze and they we are mess. Maybe we just had a bad group, but it was terrible experience. Nothing against tour company but maybe cut back on the booze on the way back. My better and half can party with the best of them, but rude drunk people throwing garbage in the sea, spilling drinks and falling on everyone is a little off. Take a booze cruise for that.

After a long flight, complete with delays, from Chicago, we arrive at PUJ for a much needed vacation. Going though security and immigration in the airport was a real pain. My suitcase had been gone through and a wheel on my bag was busted off. All I wanted to do was get to my hotel, and so far, this trip wasn’t starting out well. After leaving the security area, we were greeted by a nice man (I forgot his name) that was ready and waiting to take us to our hotel. There were what seemed like a sea of taxi drivers all vying for our business. I was very glad I had pre-arranged to be picked up by punta cana tours. They were courteous, very nice, and helpful as they took my wife’s and my luggage and helped us into the van. I was impressed. The van was clean, nice and comfortable and our driver was very helpful and informative on our drive to the hotel. Later that week, we also booked a tour to Isla Saona through the Again, they were fast, prompt, and very professional. The trip to Isla Saona is something not to be missed. What started off as a less than perfect trip, ended in a very enjoyable vacation. I know Punta Cana Tours and their staff, had a lot to do with it. Thanks for everything guys, Mike

Our trip to the Dominican Republic was terrible. The only thing that was great was how the staff as promised, helped us to make the best of it. We had all kind of problems with the hotel, good thing we had 3 days out booked with Punta Cana Tours. We went on Saona Island everything was Great, the trip to the capital city was too long but well organized and our fishing charter for the day was professionally planed. We thank you guys for your service, we will speak highly about you in Texas. Woods

While our trip was short to DR, transportation provided through Punta Cana Tours was long. We waited over 30minutes for transportation from our resort to the excursion and no contact was made from the company to notify us. Had we not stayed in the lobby a little longer, the driver would’ve came and left without us and have no regard to reach out to us. However, Isla Saona was beautiful, the transportation to and from the dock to the island was fun filled, with entertainment, drinks and a beautiful view on a speed boat and a catamaran. The food given to us during lunch on the Island was buffet style and American food but tasty! We would definitely recommend this excursion to anyone visiting DR as it is a beautiful sight and worth visiting!

Unbelievable excursion. Such a fun time. Transportation and each piece of the excursion was very well managed. Crew on the boat were a BLAST. They made the sandbar bar and the snorkeling portions highly enjoyable as well. Definitely not for kids or those NOT trying to have fun!

A fantastic experience! Well worth going on this day-long trip. We’ve went as a family of 3 with our 4YO daughter. Punctual pick-up from the hotel. Our group counted about 15 people. After reaching our “naval departure” port we’ve been wizzed off in a speedboat which was a very fun ride. After a few moments we’ve found ourselves swimming in the natural swimming pool drinking some vitamins %-). Then had some pictures with starfishes taken and wizzed of again on the speedboat until we’ve reached Isla Saona. Beautiful beaches and postcard picturesque water!!! After lunch went back to mainland on board a catamaran! Fantastic experience! Would definitely recommend.

Highly Recommended!. This excursion was absolutely worth it. I booked it with Punta Cana tours. A catamaran ride to Saona Island on the calm Caribbean sea with music and dancing, followed by lunch and a beautiful lagoon to swim in. An entire day’s trip, but lots of fun!

I would like to say that I would DEFINITELY recommend Punta Cana Tours to my friends and family if they visit the Dominican Republic and choose to partake in any excursions. We had a blast on Saona Island. All of the logistics were handled appropriately and we were very pleased. At Saona Island, everything was amazing. The only thing we would have changed is that we would have preferred to take the speedboats out to the island in the morning and then ride the catamaran back in the afternoon. It would have been nice to be able to cap off the fantastic day of relaxation with a party cruise back on the catamaran as opposed to partying on the way there. Just to reiterate, I will most definitely be recommending Punta Cana Tours to any of my friends and family that choose to visit. Thanks for helping make our vacation a fantastic time!

Isla Sona – The tour itself was good, the catamaran sailing was quite nice and relaxing although overpriced products were being sold. Once we got to the island, it was great and we had a good time being by ourselves on the beach. The food was average. Catamaran tour:- Cheaper than the Isla Sona tours and the snorkeling was probably the highlight. Don’t forget to bring in a water camera for the tour. They will hawk you pictures that cost around $40 and its not worth it. Other than that it was a memorable experience

How long is the boat ride from Punta Cana to Isla Saona?

You cannot take a boat directly from Punta Cana to Saona island as the distance is too far. To reach the jump off point for Saona you must first drive to the town of Bayahibe. Normal drive time is about an hour but if you're with a group excursion, drive time can be up to 2 hours due passenger pick up at Punta Cana resorts. Once in Bayahibe there are two options to reach Saona: motorboat, which takes about 40 minutes or catamaran which takes about 1 hour 30 minutes.  Unless you've chartered your own private catamaran, all Saona group excursions will include one way via motorboat and one way via catamaran.

How long is the Saona Island excursion?

Expect to be gone approximately 10 hours on a typical Saona island excursion from Punta Cana or up to 12 hours if your hotel is located in Uvero Alto, Punta Cana's northern most section. This includes round trip bus transport from the resorts, round trip boat transport to Saona and of course some island time!

You can opt for a private charter which will take only about 8 hours. And if you want to really get there quick, you can take a helicopter excursion to Saona island .

Why is Saona Island so popular?

At 100 square kilometers, Saona is a behemoth of an offshore island with miles of unobstructed tropical beach, turquoise waters and coconut palms. It really is the quintessential, tropical shoreline in the Caribbean. The motorboat and catamaran ride, to and from Saona, is just as memorable as the island itself with an unforgettable stop at the natural swimming pool - an immense sandbar of waist deep waters where music is played and drinks are served!

What is the best beach in Saona?

Saona island, located off the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic, offers miles of tropical, white powdery beaches. The most popular, and the most visited for Saona excursions, is Playa los Abanicos. Also popular is Catuano Point and Playa del Gato. Playa Palmilla is mentioned a great deal but this beach is located on the mainland and not on Saona. Off Playa Palmilla is where the renowned natural swimming pool is located, a popular sandbar stop for Saona excursions.

Where do boats leave for Saona Island?

Saona island boat departures leave from the southeastern Dominican town of Bayahibe which is about an hour drive from Punta Cana. If you are on a group excursion with others, transport to Bayahibe can take up to 2 hours when factoring in other passenger pick ups.

Does anyone live on Saona Island?

Saona island is part of the Dominican Republic's Cotubanama National Park which prohibits development and inhabitants. With that said, the small fishing village of Mano Juan was the only community that existed before the national park's declaration in 1975; it was permitted to remain with development and population restrictions. Today about 500 individuals live in Mano Juan.

How long is the boat trip to Saona Island?

Saona Island is located off southeastern shores of the Dominican Republic and is only reachable by boat. The closest mainland town is Bayahibe from where there are two options to reach Saona: motorboat, which takes about 40 minutes or catamaran which takes about 1 hour 30 minutes.  Unless you've chartered your own private catamaran, all Saona group excursions will include one way via motorboat and one way via catamaran.

Why go to Saona Island?

Saona island is the only offshore island relatively close to Punta Cana. The trip to Saona combines two of the most sought after activities for tourists to the Dominican Republic: getting out on a boat and spending time on the beach; preferably the island kind! And Saona itself is worth the trip, surrounding by calm Caribbean seas it is the quintessential tropical island with miles of powdery beaches, bordered lazy coconut palms and lapping turquoise waters.

Can you snorkel on Saona Island?

Typical excursions to Saona island do not include snorkeling. Although there are coral reefs just offshore from the town of Bayahibe - the jump off point for the Saona island excursion - these reefs are located in deeper waters that are more conducive to scuba diving.

The best Punta Cana all-inclusive family resorts for kids (approx. 3-12 years)

Princess family club bavaro.

Princess Family Club Bavaro is one of the few Punta Cana all-inclusive family resorts which is fully dedicated to families, without any exception. The resort features a contemporary design as it was completely renovated in 2019 – in fact, it feels like a brand-new family hotel in Punta Cana. It is the sister property of Grand Bavaro Princess , which was also completely renovated and amazed us with its outstanding price-value ratio and the creative and well-elaborated restaurants and dishes. When you book your family vacation at Princess Family Club Bavaro, you enjoy full access to Grand Bavaro Princess incl. its 10 restaurants.

Princess Family Club Bavaro is one of the best kids resorts in Punta Cana as there are so many family-friendly amenities. From the design of the suites, the maximum room occupancy (perfect for families of 5), the Punta Cana water park for kids or the family restaurants, everything is prepared for relaxed and convenient holidays with kids in the Dominican Republic. The family resort is particularly catering to kids, as the water park, the teens club, the ice cream food trucks or the family activities are especially suitable for kids between the ages of 4 and 12.

Another great feature of Princess Family Club is its small size. The suites, the water park, the kids club, the family pool, the lobby and most of the restaurants are reachable with a 2-minute walk or less, which makes it pretty easy to stick together as a family.

But it is not only the family amenities that make Princess Family Club Bavaro one of the best Punta Cana kids resorts, also adults will enjoy an excellent time here. As mentioned, you have full access to Grand Bavaro Princess , which features various delicious dining options (including one of the best Indian restaurants in Punta Cana), a super huge buffet with plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits and healthy dishes, a large selection of international premium spirits and access to Bavaro Beach (reachable by the free in-resort trolley train in 3 minutes), one of the most beautiful beaches in Punta Cana . The resort also counts with a mangrove area, hiking trails and a lot of wildlife, which is another plus for the kids. They will be enchanted when they spot the flamingos, ducks or giant iguanas.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana was one of the first family all-inclusive resorts we visited – and it is still one we love. The resort got completely renovated in 2018 and therefore offers contemporary suites and a fresh design throughout the resort. Grand Sirenis offers an outstanding price-value ratio, particularly considering the modern and spacious rooms (incl. their family suites) and well-elaborated dishes and menus.

However, the reason why Grand Sirenis Punta Cana is one of the best family resorts in Punta Cana is the on-site water park, Sirenis Aquagames. This famous Punta Cana water park features 7 different slides for older children and teens, a large area with a pirates ship for kids aged 4 to 11 (including 10 mini water slides and 4 splash barrels) and a water playground with different water sprinklers and animal statues for the smallest visitors (2 to 4 years) who love to play in the water.

Besides the water park, particularly the kids club is worth mentioning at Grand Sirenis Punta Cana, as it offers much more than the typical kids club at other kid-friendly hotels in Punta Cana. It is divided into different areas, guaranteeing a full day (or week) of fun for children from 4 to 12 years. The areas include a master chef zone, lego zone, craft zone, barbie zone, cinema room, outdoor garden and plant nursery.

Another great amenity for families traveling to Punta Cana is the different types of family rooms, including the regular family suites with a closeable door between the bedroom and the living area with a sofa bed and the connecting suite, which comes with two bedrooms, perfect if you are looking for an all-inclusive resort for teenage families in Punta Cana.

Nickelodeon Resort

Nickelodeon is another top family resort on our list and – as many other hotels from our selection of the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana for families – also just opened a few years ago. 2016 marked the beginning of the Nickelodeon story in the Dominican Republic. Since then, the hotel has built up a reputation for being one of the best family all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, especially due to its nearly endless themed amenities and activities, which will let the kids feel as if they are part of one of the famous Nickelodeon series.

When talking about Nickelodeon Resort as one of the best Punta Cana all-inclusive family resorts, we have to mention the several Nickelodeon experiences which are unique compared to other family hotels in Punta Cana. Imagine getting soaked with the typical green slime as a family (and having this moment captured in a foto), eating a giant burger together with your kids (which might be as big as your entire fridge at home), meeting the Nickelodeon characters live with your kids or visiting the water park of this Punta Cana resort – fun and longlasting memories are always guaranteed when visiting this kid-friendly resort in Punta Cana.

But it’s not only about the kids’ amenities at Nickelodeon Resort. The hotel, in general, offers very high quality, with impeccable service and plenty of dining opportunities. Particularly mentionable is the Spacewalker restaurant, where your kids can enjoy food from another galaxy (including the accordant decoration and Nick characters, of course) and the daytime gourmet option at Fresco, an Italian-inspired place to eat fresh dishes.

Also worth mentioning: this Punta Cana all-inclusive family resort has only 208 suites, hence it is one of the smallest family hotels in Punta Cana. This is particularly important if you are looking for a resort with more personalized services compared to a mega building with 1000 rooms or more.

Last but not least, Nickelodeon is one of the best resorts for toddlers in the Dominican Republic as they offer a toddler inclusive program, which includes strollers, pack-n-play, cribs, bottle sterilizers & warmers, baby bathtubs, baby monitors, portable changing tables, toddler bathrobes, in-room step stool/bench, baby food and booster chairs & highchairs. Furthermore, nannys are available for an extra charge (currently 15 USD per hour as of November 2023) from 8:30 am to 11:00 pm.

The Top 5 features making this hotel one of the best family resorts in Punta Cana: – the chance for the kids to meet their favorite Nickelodeon characters – take a tour or stay at the famous Pineapple Suite – tons of experiences centered around the Nickelodeon characters, such as “get superslimed” – one of the most extensive food and drink menus for kids among all Punta Cana family resorts, including slime smoothies and the family machete burger – one of the best resort in Punta Cana for toddlers, thanks to their “Toddler Inclusive” program

The best family resorts in Punta Cana for teenagers (approx. 13-17 years)

Dreams macao beach punta cana.

Dreams Macao makes it to this list as it offers a perfect balance for all ages. It definitely can be considered as a kid-friendly hotel in Punta Cana but is very recommendable for teenagers and adults likewise. Dreams Macao Beach is a completely newly-built family hotel, which only opened its doors in 2020. So far, it is the only all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana at Macao Beach , one of the most beautiful beaches in Punta Cana . Even though the beach is stunning and offers marvelous views, it has to be said that sometimes the waves and/or currents might be quite strong, which is why Dreams Macao Beach might not be the best family-friendly hotel in Punta Cana in case your kids love the ocean more than the pool. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t go swimming at Macao Beach , as waves and currents are only present occasionally.

So what makes Dreams Macao Beach a perfect all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana for families? Kids aged 3-12 will love the Explorer’s Club, which offers a wide array of included activities, among them a basketball court, trampoline, a kids’ cinema, an indoor game room with TV and video games, weekly campout adventures and big-screen movies on the beach. For teenage families in Punta Cana, it might be the best all-inclusive resort because teens can not only enjoy the teens club with nightly activities, but also the best surf spot in Punta Cana right in front of the hotel, where they can take surf lessons with the renowned Macao surf school * – this is absolutely unique in Punta Cana. And last but not least, adults can enjoy the stunning scenery of Playa Macao , explore a hidden beach close by and immerse themselves into the local culture by exploring the small village of Macao right next to the hotel.

If this is not enough yet, Dreams Macao is also one of those family all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana with 2 water parks – one for toddlers and one for the kids and teens. Endless fun is guaranteed!

If you’d like to know more information about this Punta Cana family all-inclusive resort, check out the comprehensive Dreams Macao Beach review here at Punta Cana Travel Blog .

The new Dreams Macao Beach Resort in Macao, Punta Cana - the beach area of the hotel

Dreams Dominicus

If the beach is one of the crucial points when looking for a Punta Cana family all-inclusive resort and you want to make sure to definitely not have any seaweed during your Dominican Republic vacation, Dreams Dominicus is worth a closer look. It is located in the Bayahibe area , less than 1 hour driving away from Punta Cana International Airport on one of the most beautiful stretches of beaches you can find in the east of the Dominican Republic . This Bayahibe resort is particularly one of the best family resorts in Punta Cana when your kids love the beach and you want to make sure your kids can play in a seaweed-free environment , as Bayahibe is overly protected from this natural phenomenon which sometimes occurs in Punta Cana during the summer months.

Note: the sargassum in Punta Cana is not dangerous, just ugly sometimes. Also, note that the seaweed only occupies a small stretch of the beach, there are still plenty of areas to build sandcastles and more. Seaweed sometimes occurs on Punta Canas beaches between April/May and August/September, according to the seaweed season in Punta Cana .

Besides the beach and the turquoise ocean, which is perfectly shallow and therefore also perfect for your kids to hop into the water, Dreams Dominicus is a compact resort built Meditteranean-style with plenty of spacious suites. The smallest rooms have a size of more than 500 square feet, most suites are sized 800 square feet and more. There is a no-reservation policy in all the à-la-carte restaurants, which means you can eat when and as often as you want in all the restaurants. Several pools – including quiet pools, family pools and entertainment pools – will keep your children “hydrated”.

However, what makes Dreams Dominicus one of the best Punta Cana family resorts is its separate family section in the Preferred Club area. It is an area that was only opened in recent years and is focusing completely on families traveling to the Dominican Republic. It features a water splash area, a family restaurant, a fully-stocked bar, a Preferred Club check-in, a games room and many interconnecting family rooms. Talking about the rooms it is important to know that when you’re booking a Family Preferred Club room category, interconnecting rooms are guaranteed.

Additionally, this area features a family buffet for breakfast and lunch and a family pizzeria for lunch. Parents will enjoy the added Preferred Club privileges, such as an extended bar menu with additional premium spirits or the additional breakfast, lunch and dinner options, particularly for eating à-la-carte. There is also a much larger and more spacious beach section when you book the Preferred Club family rooms at Dreams Dominicus .

Another feature children will love at this all-inclusive resort for families is the very extensive schedule and itinerary at the kids club and the teens club. While the kids club hosts activities such as treasure hunts, sandcastle contests, board games, field trips and big screen movies on the beach, the teens club will make older kids happy with weekly bonfires, foam parties, video games and water activities.

The Top 5 features making this hotel one of the best family resorts in Punta Cana: – marvelous beach with a 99% chance of not having seaweed – a separate and newly-constructed family area with a splash park, family restaurants and games room – very shallow ocean – very spacious family suites and – when booking the accordant category – guaranteed interconnecting rooms – super extensive hours until 10 pm respectively midnight for the supervised kids club and teens club

Kids and teens club hours (subject to change without further notice): 9 am to 10 pm (kids club, 3-12 years); 9 am to midnight (teens club 13-17 years) Typical room occupancy: 3 adults + 1 child (up to 12 years) in most rooms ( check room details *) Highest room occupancy: 6 adults + 5 children (up to 12 years) in a Preferred Club Three Bedroom Family Suite Tropical View ( check room details *) Further Information: Dreams Dominicus – a comprehensive review for this Bayahibe all-inclusive resort

Preferred Club beach area at Dreams Dominicus La Romana Resort & Spa

Lopesan Costa Bavaro is another one of those family-friendly hotels in Punta Cana offering several amenities for all kinds of travelers – including for teens. The resort was only opened in 2019 and therefore is brand-new – which you can see in nearly every corner. The rooms at Lopesan Costa Bavaro are offering a fantastic Caribbean design with contemporary art elements and frequent use of natural materials. You can also find a completely newly built leisure and shopping area called The Boulevard, which consists of plenty of apparel shops, some of the Lopesan restaurants, a coffee shop, the casino, the theatre, several bars and many other entertainment options, such as the kids’ amenities mentioned below.

What makes Lopesan Costa Bavaro a suitable family all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana is the combination of services and amenities for children (kids & teens). As a kid-friendly all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, the hotel is one of the Punta Cana resorts with a water park , particularly suitable for kids until the age of 10-12. There are no monster slides or spectacular attractions for teens, but a wide array of smaller slides and water games for kids, which will keep them entertained the entire day – particularly considering that the ice cream shop and the kids club are located right next to the water park. On the other side, older teens can enjoy the teens club with a dedicated relax area. They also will love the arcade section and bowling alley, even though they are not included in the price.

Regarding gastronomy, Lopesan Costa Bavaro also can score as a Punta Cana resort for teens & kids by offering very flexible eating options. While the regular breakfast and lunch buffet, as well as the à-la-carte dinners, have the common opening hours, families can choose between different options throughout the day – compared to other Punta Cana all-inclusive resorts where you usually only have one snack restaurant or buffet outside of the regular opening hours. Lopesan Costa Bavaro offers at least three options – and all of them with a decent food menu, which surpasses the typical snack restaurant: – The Valley, an American à-la-carte restaurant, open 24 hours – Yolo, à-la-carte snack restaurant, open from noon until midnight, located next to the water park – Goldfish Beach Club, buffet restaurant, open from noon until 6 pm, located at the beach

And for everyone still doubting that Lopesan Costa Bavaro is a family-friendly all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, show the ice cream shop to your kids and they will love the hotel.

One of the main pools at Hard Rock Resort Punta Cana

One of the best Dominican Republic all-inclusive family resorts is without a question Hyatt Ziva – particularly considering the amazing reviews it gets everywhere like on Tripadvisor *, Booking.com * or different Facebook groups. And indeed, there is hardly anything you can complain about at Hyatt Ziva – maybe except for the price, which is definitely steep and therefore not affordable for every family. Hyatt Ziva is among the most expensive hotels in Punta Cana, but it definitely pays out to check if there are any promotions running currently.

With just around 375 rooms, Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is a very compact resort, where your kids are never far from the next attraction. Among those attractions are of course the family water park with plenty of slides and a lazy river, the water sports centre with complimentary non-motorized water sports or the kids club with supervised games, a Spider Zone and other entertaining activities. Teens will love the teens club with the latest virtual reality stimulators and Formula 1 racing video games. The water park at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is particularly suitable for kids and younger teens, but not so much for those looking for high-adrenaline slides, as there aren’t any monster slides like at the much bigger water parks in Punta Cana , such as Riu Palace Punta Cana or Royalton Punta Cana.

With 1 buffet, 4 à-la-carte restaurants, 1 snack bar and many other bars Hyatt Ziva offers a typical array of resort cuisine – but with a twist and on a particular high level, being on par with the resorts premium approach. Adults also have access to the 6 additional dining options at neighboring Hyatt Zilara, which is the adults-only area of the resort.

The Top 5 features making this hotel one of the best family resorts in Punta Cana: – best reviewed resort in Punta Cana and the No. 1 for many years – kids club and teens club with state-of-the-art technology – highest level of service, comfort and safety for your family – family-friendly live entertainment every day and night – family-friendly beach with shallow ocean and usually no waves

Riu Bambu is for sure not the most luxurious family-friendly hotel in Punta Cana, but it is, among Grand Sirenis and Serenade , one of the most affordable all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana when looking for a family hotel.

Furthermore, Riu Bambu is one of the best all-inclusive resorts for teenage families in Punta Cana, particularly considering the very flexible room occupancy. If you’d like to book a room directly at the beach, you can also consider booking the sister property Royalton Punta Cana. You have the same access rights (and a few additional) as from Royalton Splash incl. to the water park, but the rooms are located closer to the beach.

If you are looking for a very affordable Punta Cana all-inclusive family resort, Tropical Deluxe Princess might become particularly handy. It is a completely renovated resort in Bavaro which offers an outstanding price-value ratio, especially considering its contemporary rooms, the large selection of restaurants and the huge amount of amenities for children and adults alike. Renovations were only completed in 2021, hence you can enjoy a completely new family resort in Punta Cana without breaking the bank.

But why is Tropical Deluxe Princess, which offers the same amenities as its sister hotel Caribe Deluxe Princess , one of the best kid-friendly resorts in Punta Cana? This has different reasons. The first one is the number of amenities in the resort. There is not only a kids and a teens club available, but also archery, table tennis and water sports equipment. Furthermore, this Punta Cana family hotel is one of the few resorts with a miniature golf course, which the kids will love. Tropical Deluxe Princess is also a water park resort in Punta Cana , as it features a water playground with various smaller slides, particularly suitable for children up to 8-10 years. There is also a large area with video and arcade games, which are, however, not included in your stay, the same as the bowling lanes at the resort.

What truly sets Tropical Deluxe Princess apart in terms of an all-inclusive family resort in Punta Cana are the unique family suites. Compared to many other family rooms in Punta Cana, they have a separate bedroom for the parents AND two bathrooms, which means the kids have their own bathroom and don’t have to pass through the bedroom when they want to pee or take a shower. This adds a lot of privacy to the parents’ vacations in Punta Cana. Furthermore, as the rooms are fully renovated as well, the design is very contemporary, hence you’ll feel delighted to spend your Caribbean holiday here.

Probably the most unique feature of those family suites at Tropical Deluxe Princess Punta Cana is that they absolutely won’t break the bank as we’re still talking about one of the most affordable resorts in Punta Cana . Rates start at as low as 75 USD per person per night with generous child discounts available.

The Top 5 features making this hotel one of the best family resorts in Punta Cana: – spacious, contemporary and affordable family suites with 2 bathrooms – one of the few resorts with a minigolf circuit – separate kids club (for ages 4-12) and teens club (for ages 13-17) – bowling alley available plus a large selection of video and arcade games (not included) – water park and water playground for kids and younger children

Hi Chris! Just curious if you have an info on the melia caribe? We’re planning a family vacation to punta Cana for July with 12 adults and 6 kids… princess family, serenade and malia caribe is our short list. I’ve read your articles with serenade and family princess but nothing about malia caribe… care to share some thoughts? Thanks in advance

book excursions punta cana

Hi Pam, there is no article about Melía Caribe because we haven’t tested it yet after Covid-19. In general, Melía Caribe is a decent family resort in Punta Cana on an amazing stretch of beach (Bavaro Beach). There are some renovated and modern areas, such as the water park, which is newly built and the biggest one of those 3 resorts mentioned, and there are other parts like the rooms which are a little bit older. Hope this helps! Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

Hi Chris! Thank you for the great information! I’m a bit overwhelmed with all of the choices! We are traveling in March with our (3) boys–ages 9, 9, and 11. We are looking for a great resort (waterpark would be awesome for 3 active boys but not a deal breaker) that is on the beach (preferably Bavarro), newer (or at least recently remodeled) that would also appeal to my 70 year old parents who will be traveling with us. Thanks for any suggestions!

have you checked out Lopesan Costa Bavaro? It ticks all your boxes and is a great choice for the entire family. You can check out the comprehensive Lopesan Costa Bavaro review here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/lopesan-costa-bavaro-all-inclusive-resort/

This is great information Chris. I am travelling soon with a 20 month old and was wondering if there are any resorts with play areas and food suitable for that age?

Hey Sunaina,

most kids clubs in Punta Cana are starting from 2 or 3 years. However, obviously, you can play with your kid at all the playgrounds or facilities (outside of the kids club) of the resort. Furthermore, nearly all the resorts are offering paid child care from private nannies for kids younger than 2 or 3 years.

Regarding food, it depends on what you expect. The large buffets of the all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana have everything you need, starting from unsugared fruits over plain rice to sweet delicacies (just as some examples). If you need hot water or any special equipment to prepare baby food, you usually can ask in the restaurant or the resort.

In general, the more premium your resort is, the more likely it is they can fulfill any extra needs you might have with your 20-months old.

I hope this helps. Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

Hi, I am hoping to travel to Punta Cana in July with mu husband and 4 children (aged 9, 7, 4 and 2). Would there be any resort with a room big enough to fit us all (the youngest will be in a cot)? A water park would be a bonus but not a must.

Hi Helen, you could try Tropical Deluxe Princess, Finest Punta Cana and Royalton Punta Cana/Splash as they all have rooms for 5 people – maybe they would accommodate the 6 of you considering that the smallest one doesn’t “count” as a person. You can find them all above in the list. I hope this helps. Best regards, Chris

Thank you for this list! Any idea which would be the top 3 most affordable options around Christmas and New Years? We are looking for 6 kids ages 3-10 along with 6-9 adults who like a mix of activity and relaxation.

Hi Kristen,

there are two separate articles about cheap and affordable Punta Cana Resorts here on the blog: – the cheapest Punta Cana resorts: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/best-cheap-all-inclusive-resorts-in-punta-cana/ – the most affordable resorts in Punta Cana: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/best-affordable-all-inclusive-resorts-in-punta-cana/

Hi Chris! Great web site! All the information is a bit overwhelming! Which could be the best alternative for kids teens 16, 14 and an 11 year old. I want teen activities, a bit more upscale, medium size. Thanks!

Hi Gabriela, thanks for your comment. My top choice, if you are looking for an upscale family resort for teens, would be Hard Rock Punta Cana: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/hard-rock-hotel-casino-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/

RIU Palace Punta Cana might also be a suitable option: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/riu-palace-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/

You can also find further options in the list of the best Punta Cana resorts with a water park: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/punta-cana-resorts-with-water-park/

Hi Chris, Excellent information. We plan to travel with our kids (6 & 8) and our parents end of June. I have narrow down to either RIU bambu or Dream. I was just wondering why RIU is much more affordable Vs. other resort, is it because lower standard, foods, etc. Also regarding transportation from airport to resort, how much are we expecting to paid ? should we get a taxi or Uber. thanks

RIU Bambu is a hotel with a decent price-value ratio, but obviously, for this price, you can’t expect super-premium quality. Still, for the price you pay, you get a really good deal. However, quality-wise, I would rate Dreams a bit higher than RIU Bambu particularly Dreams Onyx and Dreams Royal Beach. You can also consider RIU Palace Punta Cana if you are looking for a RIU resort, but of higher quality, it shares the water park amenities with RIU Bambu. You can find an extensive review of RIU Palace Punta Cana here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/riu-palace-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/

Regarding airport transfers, I’d recommend prebooking a private airport transfer, this is usually the most convenient option and is perfect for your family. You can find all the options for getting from Punta Cana Airport to your resort here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/general-information-faq/airport-transfers-in-punta-cana/

I love your site. So much great info. I will be traveling with a group of 8 adults and 7 kids ranging from 14-1.5 with most being 14-10 years old and then the little ones that are 3.5 and 1.5. Ideally what we are looking for is a luxury experience that has amazing food and yet is still very kid friendly with lots of kids activities and amenities. Right now based on your reviews, I think we are leaning towards the Finest but was wondering if you had any other suggestions based on those parameters?

Thanks for your help!

I was also suggesting Finest when reading about your preferences. As an alternative, you could also check out the following two options, which offer a bit more action for the older kids: Hard Rock Punta Cana – https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/hard-rock-hotel-casino-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/ Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana – https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-hyatt-ziva-cap-cana/

Thanks so much for the info!

Hi Eduardo,

thanks for your comment.

Both resorts are great family resorts in Punta Cana, they both have amazing modern rooms and very appealing properties. Finest is a bit better with regards to food and drink quality, Lopesan has the better beach and more entertainment.

In terms of Finest Punta Cana reviews, I am not sure where this information of bad reviews is coming free. Each and every single all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana does have occasional bad reviews, but this is nothing to worry about it. Compared to other resorts, the reviews of Finest Punta Cana are outstanding.

On Tripadvisor, 69% of all Finest Punta Cana reviews are excellent and 15% very good, meaning that 84% of all clients are very satisfied. Lopesan Costa Bavaros’ reviews are 65% excellent and 13% very good, meaning that 78% of all clients are very satisfied.

You can check out the expensive reviews of both hotels here: Lopesan Costa Bavaro – https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/lopesan-costa-bavaro-all-inclusive-resort/ Finest Punta Cana – https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/finest-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/

Hi, I am looking for a resort in Punta Cana for 1 week in January 2023. We are a family of 9. Parents in their early 60’s. 3 sons, one who is married with 2 kids age 6 and 11. A single 38 yr old and a younger couple 25 and 30. As you can see we need a mix of everything to keep everyone entertained. I would prefer the drive from the airport not to be too long, international drinks, a sports bar, golf close by, nice long walking beach. The kids love a lazy river, newer and updated are preferred. I don’t mind paying a bit more to get what we want just not the most expensive either. Thank you so much in advance for your help Gail

Hi Gail, I feel like Now Onyx or Hard Rock is what you are looking for. Hard Rock is 25 minutes away from the airport, has a golf course next by, endless beach walks and a lot of entertainment for all ages, including a newly opened (April 2022) water park. Now Onyx might be the perfect option if Hard Rock is too expensive, especially considering the beach, the water park and the access for the adults to the social resort next-door with its themed parties, breathless (just no golf there). You can check them out here: Hard Rock – https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/hard-rock-hotel-casino-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/ Dreams Onyx – https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-now-onyx/ I hope this helps. We are looking to go to Punta Cana in June for 7 days. I am looking for an All Inclusive places. It will be me and my boyfriend and my 15 yr old daughter. We are older, so my boyfriend doesn’t want a resort with a lot of little kids. A place that has a focus on teens, as well as, adults. Somewhere that has nightly entertainment, restaurant options and bar options (swim up, beach, pool side are all pluses), and other activities. I know I am asking a lot.

in my opinion, there is not really any all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana which is particularly focused on teens. However, in my opinion, Hard Rock, Lopesan (lots of bars but no swim-up bar though) and Dreams Onyx are great options for you, as they offer a lot of entertainment and restaurants, are catering to a mixed crowd and are not adults-only. You can check out the details here:

Hi Robin, I’m impressed with all the info you pack in your website. When i did my research on family friendly all inclusive hotels i would see Nickelodeon which i saw on your list but i also saw the Bahia Principe but i didn’t see you mention them. In your opinion what are your thoughts on those properties? more specifically the Fantasia?

Hi Talia, Nickelodeon and Bahía Principe Fantasía are hard to compare as they are usually a completely different price range. Both are great family options. There is not a specific reason why Bahía Principe Fantasía is not on the list. To start with, I had to pick ten resorts. If I would extend the list to 15 or 20, Bahía Principe Fantasía might make it to this list of the best family resorts in Punta Cana. Obviously it can’t compete with the quality, luxury and amount of activities Nickelodeon is offering, but it is also much cheaper than Nickelodeon. Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

Hello…great info here…i have a family of 5 (kids are 13, 11, and 6 yrs). We love to swim at a calm beach and are looking for a clean, good quality all inclusive…with great food options. You mentioned Bavaro beach is the nicest but its public so does that mean that there are locals in front of the hotel part on beach? Do you recommend a specific hotel that would have a calmer beach but check off my preferences… im torn between royalton bavaro, grand sirenis…and dreams? pls help us choose for christmas. thank you

Hi Michelle, thanks for your comment. The calmest beaches are the southeastern part of Cabeza de Toro, the southeastern part of Bavaro Beach and Cap Cana (but in general none of the beaches in Punta Cana, maybe except of Macao on some days), are overly wild. On these beaches, you could check out Serenade Punta Cana ( https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/serenade-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/ ), Catalonia Punta Cana ( https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/catalonia-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/ ) or Lopesan Costa Bavaro ( https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/lopesan-costa-bavaro-all-inclusive-resort/ ). We are trying to figure a place to go with our three teenagers. I want a place where there is a great pool, delicious food, great beaches and fun for everyone. We are thinking about Dream Macao, Dream Onyx and Paradissus Real Palma. Please help or do you have any other suggestions.

Hi Sarah, out of these 3, Dreams Onyx would tick most of your boxes, even though Dreams Macao has possibly the most beautiful beach. Paradisus Palma Real is also a great resort (and more upscale than both Dreams), but it is under renovation until autumn hence it would be only an option if you are planning to travel in winter. Hi! I am stuck on deciding on a resort for our family trip. It will be our first trip with children (6/4) out of the states. I am wanting a resort with plenty of water activties for kids such as small slides and water play areas along with ample swimming areas. I also want a family suite style room with a potential of a space for kids to sleep outside of a sofa couch ( that is not a deal breaker) and also either a private pool or swim up. It would be nice to have extras on site such as ice cream places and bowling or mini golf. These are the resorts im torn between ( Lopesan Punta Cana, Finest Punta Cana, or Dreams Macao) Which of these would you most likely recommend or is there others you may recommend? Im at a loss and spinnging in circles with all the options and my wish list

Should also not traveling will be in October

Hi Amanda, I think Finest would tick all your boxes and is also the best out of these three resorts. However, Lopesan is also a very good hotel even though they have mostly only regular rooms/suites with exactly this kind of sofabed. Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

Hi Chris, amazing info. Which one do you think would be the best and most luxurious or upscale one to go with kids 4 and 6 on mid Sept? Thinking of Royalton, Dreams or Paradisus. What do you think? Many Thanks

Hi Ed, out of the 3 resorts you mentioned, it is hard to pick the most luxurious one as there are multiple resorts for each brand (Dreams, Royalton and Paradisus all have various hotels in Punta Cana). But just in case, Paradisus Palma Real is the most luxurious, followed by Royalton Bavaro and Dreams Onyx, in my opinion. In general, if you’re looking for the most upscale family all-inclusive resorts, you can check out Finest Punta Cana and Hyatt Ziva. Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

Hey Chris! Thank you so much for all the info! What would be your recommendation on the most luxurious resorts that aren’t adults only? We’re traveling to Punta Cana in February and have a reservation at the Reserve Paradisus Palma Real. I’m a little concerned that the renovations could get pushed out beyond the end of this year, so I was wanting a back up plan. We have a 3 & 7 year old traveling with us. The kids LOVE the beach and pools, so water parks and kids clubs aren’t super important to us. We want a super tropical feel, luxury, good food and drinks, and great pools and beach. We also like big resorts and will have family with us, so night time entertainment for adults would be a nice perk! Some places I’ve looked into are Majestic Mirage and Iberostar Coral Level at Selection Bavaro..

Hi Simone, I think The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real already ticks a lot of your boxes and I would feel that Majestic Mirage or Iberostar Coral Level are a tiny bit below Paradisus Palma Real quality-wise. I don’t think that the renovations will be ongoing in winter, they will terminate well before high season. Besides those resorts mentioned, you could also check out Finest Punta Cana and Hyatt Ziva as some of the most upscale family resorts. There is an extensive review about Finest Punta Cana here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/finest-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/ Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

Coming with extended family, Grandparents(in their 70’s) sister and brother in law (in their 40’s), and my husband and I and our 4 kids ages 8-16. Looking to get the most bang for our buck, we are considering Royalton Splash Punta Cana. Is this a good choice or should we check out others? Traveling the first week of March 2023 and its our first carribean trip.

Hi Stacey, Royalton Splash is a great resort, especially if traveling on a lower budget. However, for better amenities and a closer location to the beach – which might be particularly important for the grandparents – I would rather choose Royalton Punta Cana. You enjoy the same amenities as in Royalton Splash, including the huge water park, but have to walk less during your stay to restaurants and the beach. Just the water park is like a 7-8 minute walk away but I assume that’s ok for the kids. You can check out the best prices for Royalton Punta Cana here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-royalton-punta-cana/ I hope this helps. Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

Hi Chris – thanks for all the great information! We are looking for a resort with the MOST activities for a family with an 8 year old boy and 12 year old girl (not a just a kids club but activities we can do together without going off property). We want as many activities as possible! We are having trouble also finding resorts with two queen beds (my husband is too tall for a double) or a king and a double. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Christine, I think in this case, Nickelodeon Punta Cana might be your best bet: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-nickelodeon-punta-cana/ They have so many activities, especially thanks to their show characters, you will have a blast there if you don’t want to go off resort. Hi Chris, thanks so much for the very informative website! Based on the current deals, it looks like the Barcelo Bavaro Palace and the Majestic Colonial would be about the same cost as the Serenade for the week we’re looking. Between these three, which do you think would be more enjoyable for a family of two adults and two kids (ages 6 and 8)? We’ll spend most of our time at the pool and beach, and maybe enjoy an excursion or two.

Thanks! Dan

Hi Dan, among those 3, Serenade Punta Cana is usually my favorite (you can read a full Serenade review here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/serenade-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/ ), but if all the 3 mentioned have the same price, I would lean more towards Majestic Colonial as – in my opinion – the quality here is slightly higher than at Serenade Punta Cana. I would also prefer the beach of Majestic and Barcelo over Serenade, even though the water at Serenade is the calmest of all of them. Poolwise, all 3 should be good, also for kids. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris

Having a very hard time deciding where to go. We have 3 kids – ages 2, 5, 8. We will also be going with another family. We had somewhat narrowed it down to Serenade or Finest, and still trying to decide (Also aren’t opposed to other suggestions). Finest looks beautiful – my only hesitation is that it appears that it’s geared more for little kids and not so much my 8 year old. Is this place potentially a place where my two older kids will end up bored? Is there much for entertainment and do they just have the toddler pool area?

Thanks so much!

Hi Suzanne, in general, Serenade and Finest are two totally different categories as I’d call Serenade Punta Cana a more mid-range resort while Finest Punta Cana is a premium resort in Punta Cana. If both are in the same price range for your travel dates, I would definitely pick Finest. Besides this, I don’t think your kids get bored at Finest. There is a super nice and large kids club with an additional mini water park. Obviously, this water park at Finest Punta Cana is by far not as big as the ones mentioned here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/punta-cana-resorts-with-water-park/ Maybe you find a suitable resort in this list. Cheers, Chris

Trying to plan a week vacation with husband and two kids (4.5yo and 3yo). I’m thinking the Finest would be best for us but concerned there’s not much around the area to do (outside of the resort). How expensive are taxis/UBER’s/etc and car seats? Husband is very much a nature guy and wants to see and explore (I’ve already sent him your “adventures & road trips” link) -is this a good area to explore from? Can kids explore too? Thanks!

Hi Lauren, there is indeed not much around in Uvero Alto where Finest Punta Cana is located. Uber is not available in this particular area and taxis are expensive (minimum 30-40 USD for a ride and more if you want to go to any nature attractions). My recommendation would be to rent a car so you stay flexible with your family. You can check out this article to see if renting a car would be suitable for you: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/general-information-faq/shall-i-rent-a-car-in-punta-cana/ Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

Gotcha. Thank you. Would you recommend another luxury all-inclusive family resort? The Princess (while renovated) seems a little cheesy(?) – I could be wrong.

Hi Lauren, I would not call Tropical Princess cheesy but compared to Finest Punta Cana it is indeed at least 2 steps down. You can check out Hyatt Ziva ( https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-hyatt-ziva-cap-cana/ ) or Club Med Playa Esmeralda ( https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-club-med-miches/ ) if you’re looking for some other luxury family all-inclusive resorts. Hi Chris – thanks for all the great information! We are looking for a resort with activities for a family with an 17 year old boy 13 year girl and a 10 year old girl .a kids club isnot mandatory but activities we can do together without going off property such as waterpark tennis beach activities . We are having trouble also finding resorts with a family room with two bedrooms swimp up will be the cherry on the cake ( we don’t want to fight for a sunbed 🙂 Any suggestions? Thanks!

most of the large family resort have plenty of activities on offer, hence most of the family hotels mentioned above tick this box (and the vast majority has a kids and teens club as well, even if you don’t necessarily need it).

With regard two two-bedroom suites, that’s indeed quite rare in Punta Canas’ resorts, but most of the family hotels offer it by booking an interconnecting room (which is the same than 2 bedrooms).

Dreams Dominicus for example offer guaranteed interconnecting rooms when booking the accordant category, Dreams Macao Beach (afaik) for a surcharge as well. You can check them out here: Dreams Dominicus – https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/dreams-dominicus-la-romana-all-inclusive-resort/ Dreams Macao – https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/dreams-macao-beach-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/

Alternatively, you can also have a look at Royalton Resorts, which have afaik two-bedroom suites: Royalton Punta Cana (incl. access to the huge Splash park, one of the biggest water parks in Punta Cana): https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-royalton-punta-cana/ Royalton Bavaro (incl. access to the huge Splash Park if you book a Diamond Club room): https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-royalton-bavaro/

With regard to swim-up rooms, you can check out this article, where you can find the best resorts with swim-out rooms in Punta Cana, including a couple of very recommendable family resorts with swim-out rooms: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/best-punta-cana-swim-up-rooms/ Particularly the family resorts mentioned there with swim-up rooms might be ticking all your boxes when booking two rooms and asking for interconnecting (or neighboring) rooms (not sure if swim-ups have interconnecting rooms neither if a 2-bedroom-swim-up suite is existing in Punta Cana).

Absolutely fantastic site! We had been ready to book at Royalton Bavaro as it looks very nice and wanted access to Splash but not have to be at a full waterpark every day. The reviews recently are pretty rough and with their recent water outage we are looking elsewhere. I have read a lot of your blogs and wanted to get your thoughts. My children are 6 and 9 and I like having a place with slides and activities but I don’t necessarily need one of the ones that is an enormous water park. However, what I am running into is it seems like my 6 year old might get turned away from many of these water slides. We are looking at mid-to-high tier. Lopesan seems like a good option but was also looking at Ziva Cap Cana and Onyx which seem nicer – however both of those appear to require kids to be 48 inches tall to do the slides. I ruled out Finest because there appears to just be a few slides designed more for smaller kids.

Outside of Lopesan, what would you recommend?

Thanks, Kevin

I meant I was looking at Dreams Macao, not Onyx. Onyx has age restrictions of 9 years old for some sections and 12 for others.

usually, resorts are not super picky about age or height restrictions at the slides (usually it is defined by the height, not by the age) as long as it does not impose a security risk for either the child or other users of the slides. However, obviously a 6-year-old kid shouldn’t use water slides which are designed for 12-year-olds or adults.

Apart from that, Lopesan Costa Bavaro indeed seems like a great option as I think that the water park there is perfect for a 6-year-old plus the beach is very child-friendly. Hyatt Ziva is obviously a totally different story and is the best of the best, but I guess that’s also a doubled price tag compared to Lopesan. You could also check out Hard Rock Punta Cana, as they have just opened a new huge water park in summer 2022: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/hard-rock-hotel-casino-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/

You could also check out Nickelodeon Resort, which focus more on activities than a water park and probably would be a blast for your children: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-nickelodeon-punta-cana/

Love this site! Currently booked Royalton Punta Cana with my 13 and 15yo. Booked for the waterpark and beach but recent reviews have me wanting to change due to crowding and other issues. Looking at Lopesan and Hilton La Romana – we like moderate slides but nothing too wild…good food, and ideally a beach we can snorkel at. Thoughts?

Hi Nicole, there is not much snorkeling right off the beach from Punta Canas’ resorts, hence I wouldn’t include this as a crucial point when looking for the perfect resort. If at all, you have the best chances for some average snorkeling at Hilton La Romana. Foodwise, I would rate all three hotels similar, also with slight advantages for Hilton La Romana. For a 13 and 15-year-old, the water park at Royalton Splash and Hilton La Romana are the most appealing ones. For further resorts with a water park in Punta Cana, you can check out this article: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/punta-cana-resorts-with-water-park/ For the best prices of Hilton La Romana you can check this page here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-hilton-la-romana-family/ I hope this helps. Wow amazing reviews makes it harder to pick what is more amazing you replying to all the comments with detailed suggestions. So I’m travelling with my mother and two kids 6 year old boy and 9 year old girl. I want them to enjoy their time to the max and have some time for myself and my mother without worrying about them. I am looking for something more upscale yet lots of activities for the kids. Like to have nice views and new rooms feel.

All inclusive is nice not necessarily drinks though. Looking for a nice relaxing beach with fine sand.

Will be travelling around Christmas

Was considering Nickelodeon a bit higher price but willing to pay if worth it also read lots of walking which is hard for mom Hard rock isn’t it too much activities all day long I want to relax a bit

Thank you so much!

thanks for your comment. I think Finest Punta Cana ticks all your boxes – upscale, not too big, perfect for kids at the age you mentioned. Nickelodeon Punta Cana is also a great option, similar to Finest in terms of quality and size, obviously with a different approach. Hard Rock Punta Cana is very large and involves lots of walking. Lopesan Costa Bavaro has a perfect beach for kids and a great water park for 6- and 9-years old, but involves some walking (not as much as at Hard Rock) and can’t compete food-wise with Finest or Nickelodeon.

I hope this helps. Cheers, CHris

Hi Chris, Your blog and information has been very helpful. I’m looking to go to Punta Cana in Jan 2023, with my husband and 5 yo. We are considering Nickelodeon but I read some negative reviews and was hoping for your honest opinion on whether or not it was worth it. We want to go somewhere with water slides, kids activities, etc., but also modern vibe and good food. My son is very active and will get bored just sitting. Also looking at Dreams Macao and Tropical Deluxe. Thanks, Melanie

Hi Melanie, I think Nickelodeon will be a great choice for you and your son. It is a very active resort. You’ll find negative reviews at each and every resort. As long as the general opinion is positive, a few negative reviews shouldn’t refrain you from booking. Nickelodeon is a great quality hotel in Punta Cana. It is on the more expensive side, hence it is particularly worth for them who indeed have some links or connections with the Nickelodeon characters. I hope this helps. Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

Hi Chris. This article and this blog are amazing. I love how much information you give. I’m planning to do a cross-family reunion of around 13 adults, 5 kids, and 1 teenager. It seems to me that a weekend in an all-inclusive hotel is going to make it a little bit too hard to spend time together and get to know each other. Everything is so big and spread. I think it will be a challenge to find pool chairs together and sit together for dinners, for example. So I was thinking about a very small hotel or a private villa. Do you know any good ones? Thanks!

there are indeed some challenges (the one you mentioned, but nothing is impossible) when visiting an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana with 18 people, but there are also many advantages. It is a particularly great thing that you don’t have to take care of anything in a resort (shopping, organization, logistics, etc.) and the kids for sure will love the amenities and the water parks. Particularly if you’re booking a premium resort with butler service, this could be a good solution as the butler can take care of dinner reservations or daytime areas with enough sunchairs.

On the other hand, there are a couple of villas in Punta Cana that fit 18 people or more and if you hire a chef and a barkeeper, you will also have a great time. You can find some particularly large villas here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/punta-cana-villas-2/ One of my favorite villas for lagre groups without breaking the bank is this one here at Corales beach area: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/long-beach-villa-corales/

Hi! We stayed at the Finest last year and really loved it. Plenty of things to do/pools even though it was compact and the food was great. We are returning to Punta Cana this year but looking to try a new resort. Which one would you recommend or is most similar to Finest? Our children are 1 and 3 and we will be traveling with 3 other families.

Hi Annie, great that you liked Finest Punta Cana. You could try Hyatt Ziva (most upscale family resort and more expensive than Finest), Nickelodeon (I would say the same quality as Finest, but a totally different concept) or Dreams Dominicus (quality-wise a little bit below Finest, but a beautiful beach with shallow water and a different area). For Dreams Dominicus, there is an extensive review here in case you are interested: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/dreams-dominicus-la-romana-all-inclusive-resort/ Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

I’m in the midst of planning a destination wedding. I haven’t narrowed down a specific destination yet, but on the list are DR, Mexico and Jamaica (although this may be outside our price range).

Would you be able to comment on which resort you think would provide the best offerings activities for the kids (ages 3-13), adults ages 40-80, great food, nice setting for a wedding, calm beaches (can you comment on the current situation with the seaweed?), for 5k USD or less?

I don’t know the extent of your experience outside of DR, but even just advice for DR would be helpful!

Hi Evelyn, I would particularly look at Dreams Macao Beach, Lopesan Costa Bavaro, Grand Bavaro Princess / Princess Family Club, Riu Palace Punta Cana, Royalton Punta Cana and Dreams Dominicus, as they are all kind of affordable, offer great amenities for multi-generational vacations (=travellers of all ages) and have a great beach with gorgeous wedding locations. If you need help organizing your wedding (incl. hotel booking, travel arrangements, weddings details and event coordination), feel free to send me an email as I worked a long time for a local travel + destination wedding company in the Dominican Republic which is specialized in all-inclusive resort wedding as well. I am happy to connect you if you’re interested. Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

What a great site and sooo many choices. We are looking for a family vacation, we have 2 girls (4&9 years old). We want to be able to do some activities, watch a nice show at night, have a nice waterpark for the kids… Were looking at Lopesan or Nickelodeon.. which one of the 2 would you recommend? Or is there another resort that you would recommend above these two? We will only be there for a week….

Thanks for your help and honest opinion 🙂

Hi Stef, I think both hotels are great even though in my opinion Nickelodeon is geared more towards kids, especially if they are familiar with the Nickelodeon characters. If the budget allows, I would pick Nickelodeon. You can check the current promotions for your travel dates here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-nickelodeon-punta-cana/ Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris, Your blog and information has been very helpful. I’m looking to go to Punta Cana in May 2023, with my wife and 9 month old baby and a 3.5 year old daughter . What will be the best resort, not considering budget, but quality of activities for the kids as well as quality food. I am not expecting to go out of the resort just staying there and chilling while enjoying most of the hotel. It will be great if they have a kids club for both of my kids. Really great full if you can help me.

Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike, if budget is not that much of an issue, your best bet is definitely Hyatt Ziva: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-hyatt-ziva-cap-cana/ It ticks all of your boxes. Best regards Chris

The quality of the Hyatt Ziva vs Finest Punta Cana is a lot of difference? Because the Finest Punta Cuna have a bigger family room.

Well, difficult to say. I would say in general Hyatt offers better quality than Finest, but both are definitely top-premium resorts. Hence I’d say there is a difference in quality, but not super big. You will have a great family vacation at Finest Punta Cana as well.

I’m so happy I found your blog. Thank you for all sharing so much valuable information.

I have been a little overwhelmed with the sheer volume of all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana. I will be 18 weeks pregnant when we travel to Punta Cana and we also have a 3.5 year old. This is a babymoon and probably the last vacation we will take as a family of 3. Price is not a criteria for us since it’s a special vacation, we want to find a luxury resort with a mix of family friendly activities, relaxation time for me, beach time, kids club with childcare for our 3.5 year old, high quality food and beach time for our family. What resorts do you recommend?

Thanks, Neeta

Hi Neeta, thanks for your comment. For the preferences you mentioned, I’d say you shall check out Finest Punta Cana – https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/finest-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/ and Hyatt Ziva – https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-hyatt-ziva-cap-cana/ They are two of the best family resorts in Punta Cana. Chris

Thank you, Chris! I booked Finest 🙂 looking forward to some downtime before the new baby 🙂

Hi Chris, Thank you for all of this information. I am so overwhelmed. I had a shortlist but I am unsure of it. I wanted something fun for everyone. I am travelling with my 3 kids (20,18,13). I am looking for something fun but not too budget. I had Caribe Deluxe Princess, Iberostar Selection Bavaro and Grand Bavaro Princess. 3 Different sites have 3 different ratings for them, which I think is what is causing more anxiousness. Thanks to your article, I just added Dreams Onyx to my list. I want beautiful, calmer beaches and something that has a lot of fun.

Any suggestions. Carla

Hi Carla, according to the preferences you mention, I would say that Riu Palace (Punta Cana or Bavaro), Royalton Punta Cana (not Royalton Splash), Lopesan Costa Bavaro or Grand Bavaro Princess would be perfect options for you. You can find extensive reviews to all of them (except Royalton Punta Cana) here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/ I hope this helps. Best regards Chris

book excursions punta cana

Hi Chris, Thank you for the valuable information.

I am travelling in August with a 13 yr old.

Looking for a resort that has teen activities lively entertainment. Day and night. A resort with lots of guests

Mid high end resort that has a lot of guests and families with teens would be ideal on a calm beach.

My fear is that I may choose a resort that is not so popular and may be quite empty with no teens for my 13 yr old to socialize with.

I’ve searched so many and undecided

I really don’t want to spent all day at a water park but it would be ideal that the resort has one for this age group.

I viewed Dreams onyx but the beach is too wavy or it’s not as calm from the pics

You mentioned Dreams Macau and the beach looks really nice and calm would the activities not be aimed for teens ? Any other choices ? Grand Bávaro princess. But this resort doesn’t have a water park for teens

Any suggestions of other mid to high end to consider The Iberostar Bávaro is under renovations and I didn’t. See any water slides

Thanks so much

Hey Linda, the Dreams Resorts are generally a great pick for teens as they all have a huge teens club with multiple activities. Great to keep your kid occupied and great for socializing. Hard Rock might also be an interesting choice, they have a lot on offer as well. Riu Palace is another option – it is very big so you will definitely find people. Alternatively, you can also check out these resorts where you find some more amazing family resorts – all of them with a water park: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/punta-cana-resorts-with-water-park/ Cheers, Chris

Thank you for sharing your recommendations.

Any suggestions for resorts in mid high end popular resorts modern preferred that has slides and a nice calm beach with activities for teenagers and great live entertainment day and night

Is Dreams Macau a good option ? Grand palladium would in the lower scale in terms of activities ? There are no slides at all for this age group I’m not looking for a massive park but teens games club and slides to enjoy and good beach location. Planning to go in august hopefully the resort I select has a lot of families If you could provide any resort names Thanks

Hi Linda, please see my answer on the comment above. 🙂 Chris

Graet blog. We’re coming from the UK for a family vacation at the end of August. Brief set of info & requirements:

– 2 adults, 3 boys (11, 13, 15) – hoping for decent amount of activities (swimming, water park, mini golf, bowling etc…) – but don’t want to compromise on the food quality, we would like a high standard a la carte – two bed family suite preferably

We are looking at: – Dreams Macao Beach – Barcelo Bavaro Palace – Dreams Royal Beach – Falcon Resort – Finest Punta Cana

Would you have any advice as to which sounds like a good fit?

Hi Tim, among those, Falcons and Finest would be my top picks. Falcons has more activities, Finest has better food. You can find a full review of Finest here: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/accommodation-resorts/finest-punta-cana-all-inclusive-resort/ Cheers, Chris

Thanks for this great list. Looking to book a trip around Christmas break for my wife and 5 year old son, all inclusive, activities especially for the kids during the day, things for all of us to have fun, high end look, quality, and service. Waterpark is a plus, but not a must. Love the idea of shows, good food, getting to have drinks and have fun. Would love your top recommendations for this.

Hi Jeremy, great if this list of family resorts in Punta Cana was helpful for you. My top recommendation for the preferences you mentioned would be Finest Punta Cana, but you can also check out Hyatt Ziva which is one of the top resorts in Punta Cana: https://www.puntacanatravelblog.com/recommendation/accommodation-hyatt-ziva-cap-cana/ Cheers, Chris
