Beautifully talented and masters at what they do, Brooklyn Riders are a joy to listen to. For lovers of classical music, or even for those classical newbies out there, they are a definite must see. The precision and delicacy with which they play their instruments is outstanding: I have never heard such careful and concentrated violinists before. Each note is poignant and worth something. The string-quartet blend their instruments perfectly together and the instruments never seem to overwhelm each other or fight for position. Rather, they seem to work in perfect balance. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York (hence the name), the Brooklyn Riders are famed not just for their classical music, but also for their unusual repertoire: they effortlessly blend classical music together with more contemporary melodies in order to create something so unusual that it deserves its own genre, for lack of a name. The quartet have played in a number of grand, highly esteemed joints including the Lincoln centre and Carnegie Hall. Despite comprising of only four musicians, they nonetheless manage to fill the spaces in which they play with the subtle power of their music. Brooklyn Rider’s have a varied and brilliant repertoire, but some stand out pieces include ‘Ascending bird’ and ‘Culai: 2. The Muse.’
