Carnival Valor

About Carnival Valor

Exciting enhancements were made to Carnival Cruise Line's 110,000-ton, 2,980-guest Carnival Valor in 2016. New dining venues were added including a poolside eatery for burgers and one with Mexican favorites, bars, fun activities and youth programs for kids and more, making the family-friendly Conquest Class ship more popular than ever for all age groups.

Step aboard and fun will greet you at every turn. Melt your cares away as you relax in the whirlpools and at the swimming pools. Kids also have their own for wading. Thrill-seekers will find hair-raising excitement at the four-deck-high, 214-foot-long waterslide.

Relaxing spots can be found throughout the ship, with nearly 20 fun bars and lounges to meet-up with friends and enjoy your favorite drink. An immense 14,500-square-foot spa offers several fabulous treatments that will leave you feeling like new and the state-of-the-art fitness center boasts a variety of high-tech equipment. Touch base with those back home and friends at an Internet café, catch up with your reading at the library and get some retail therapy at the onboard shops. Exhilarating entertainment options include special evenings with production shows, comedy acts and more.

Kids will feel like they are at summer camp with supervised age-specific activities at the specially designed program. Cool places for teens include a video arcade and their own club where they can hang-out, watch movies and listen to music.

Make sure you bring your appetite along, as exciting dining options — many complimentary — are offered on the Carnival Valor. Delicious international cuisine is served at the stunning main dining rooms, with an Art Deco design and huge chandeliers. Extensive menus change daily with enticing choices and a kids' menu features all their favorites, so mealtimes are easy and fun for the whole family. Take your taste buds on a vacation around the world at diverse food stations at the casual buffet, where you can savor delicious Chinese food, New York-style deli fare and many other options. Whenever you have a craving, room-service is offered 24/7 as well as fresh hot pizza.

Multi-course gourmet dinners were designed to thrill foodies, while a host of casual eateries include mouthwatering hand-made burritos and tacos, plus a poolside hamburger joint with handcrafted burgers and fresh-cut fries.

Select from a myriad of spacious accommodations — many specially designed for families. Stay in an Interior Stateroom or Ocean View, a grand with a Balcony or a Suite, they are all fabulous and well-appointed. A steward is on duty 24/7 to assist you with your needs.

Exciting entertainment is featured for everyone in the family to enjoy, including dazzling shows at the three-level theater. View hit movies, concerts and more at the jumbo-sized LED screen and head to the excitement at the bustling casino with all your favorite games. Dance the night away and join the laughter at the comedy club.

Take the whole family along and enjoy the fabulous resort-style Carnival Valor.

Blue Iguana Cantina

Blue Iguana Cantina

Nobody knows Mexican dining like a blue iguana. Well, our blue iguana, at least. That’s why it should come as no surprise that the BlueIguana Cantina features freshly made tacos and burritos stuffed specially for your enjoyment. Throw our homemade tortillas and salsa into the mix, and you have a casual dining experience that will make you say “mmmm” (which is actually Iguanese for “more, please”).Nobody knows Mexican dining like a blue iguana. Mongolian Wok

Mongolian Wok

Chow down on some delicious Asian goodness. First, select your noodles and veggies. Then tell one of our chefs which sauce and meat you want in the wok. Will it be mussels and Szechuan? Beef and Thai barbecue? Chicken and black bean? Don’t worry, the decision doesn’t have to be final — you can come back to Mongolian Wok and try all the combos your heart desires!

Deli

Looking for a little taste from the old neighborhood? Pile 'em high at the Carnival Deli. Enjoy old time favorites like a hot pastrami on rye, grilled Reuben, or roasted turkey breast on a country roll. Our sandwiches and wraps are always hand-carved and served fresh with cole slaw or relish. Come by, satisfy your craving for a great sandwich and make sure you don’t forget the kosher dill.

Seafood Shack

Seafood Shack

A good seafood dish is quite the catch. However you like yours served — whether it’s on a roll or a platter — Seafood Shack’s the place to cast your net. Imagine a New-England-style seaside spot where you can take it all in, enjoying a great meal complete with a side of ocean view. On a Carnival cruise is where you’ll find this shack by the sea, wherever in the world you happen to be!

Guy's Burger Joint

Guy's Burger Joint

We went looking for someone to help us grill up the best burgers at sea, and we found just the guy. Carnival has teamed up with best-selling author, restaurateur and Food Network personality Guy Fieri to bring all the authentic appeal of a roadside burger shack to Guy’s Burger Joint, the cool poolside spot for hot burgers and hand-cut fries. Try a fresh-off-the-grill burger Guy’s way, or take it off-road to our toppings bar and truly make it your own.

Circle

What does the “C” in Circle “C” stand for? Well, “chill,” “connect” and “cool,” just to name a few. It’s where young teens ages 12 to 14 go to hang out, meet new friends, and enjoy some pretty awesome activities like dance parties, games, outdoor movies and more, in the special Circle “C” area or around the ship. It’s all supervised by friendly and fun-loving counselors who want your young teens to have the best vacation ever.

Club O2

Your parents deserve a nice vacation… but then again, so do you. So let’s let them go do their thing while you do yours. Where to? Club O2. Hang out and do stuff like watch movies, listen to music from this decade, play sports and video games, join karaoke jam sessions… maybe even have a pool party or two, all with other high schoolers ages of 15 to 17.

Video Arcade

Video Arcade

If you love to play video games, you’re in luck. Our video arcade boasts a huge array of games, and is open to players of all ages, all night and all day. So get some tokens from the vending machine and let the fun times begin. Challenge your friends to a game, or just see if you can beat the top score. After all, with the video arcade open 24 hours and an entire cruise ahead of you, you have plenty of time to try.

Spa Carnival

Spa Carnival

Decks: 11 Spa 10 Panorama

When it comes to complete relaxation from the inside out, nothing beats a trip to the spa. From the minute you step inside, the soothing ambiance begins to work its magic. Renew yourself with premium beauty and wellness therapies, like hot stone massages, aromatherapy or full-body wraps. This is your time to be spoiled, indulged and even beautified. First impressions are important — everyone knows that. We’ll let you in on a little secret: that’s why it’s so important to us that the atrium, your first taste of your Carnival cruise, tastes like ‘wow.’ From the moment you step aboard, the atrium — the heart of the ship — simply screams “welcome aboard!” It screams it with hustle, with bustle, with music and with high ceilings featuring panoramic views of the whole scene from the upper decks. This 360-degree funspot is also the home of the Guest Services desk, the place you go if you have questions for one of our certified fun experts… about just about anything that’s on your mind.

Jogging Track

Jogging Track

Jogging may not immediately come to mind when you think of things to do at sea, but it probably should. You don’t have to walk on water, you just have to get on a Carnival cruise. After all, if you’re going to jog, you’d be hard-pressed to find a place to do it with a more scenic view, or a more refreshing breeze — both of these are available in abundance when you go for an open-air jog on the upper-deck. Jogging tracks are available on all Carnival ships, and are even padded for long-distance comfort.

Mini Golf

Ah, imagine a perfect day out on the links, the golfer's zen of the ball, the hole and nothing in between but well-manicured fairway... plus one cactus, a treasure chest... and wait, is that a windmill in the way? Just who designed this course anyway? Whoever it was, they had one thing in mind — maximum fun for mini-golfers, big and small! That's precisely why you'll find a course on every Carnival ship, where you can hit the holes and take in everything you’d expect, like the sights and the sounds... plus the seagulls.

No magic spells are required to enjoy a cocktail creation at Alchemy Bar, our unique vintage-themed cocktail "pharmacy" — all you need is a willingness to be surprised, to try something new. We’ve flipped through dusty old texts to uncover enticing combinations: select spirits, fresh juices, infused syrups, spices… and other tantalizing secrets performed before your very eyes by the true mix-masters: our bartenders. Fitness Center

Fitness Center

We have some bad news for you — your ship has a gym. In other words, there’s no excuse for leaving your fitness routine back on land. That’s great news, however, for your body, which will definitely benefit from all the extra energy that vacationing pumps directly into you. And let’s not forget the extra time you’ll have, since you won’t be waking up and spending most of the day at the office or anything like that. If those were some of your go-to excuses, we’re sorry, but we all know this is important. Why not treat yourself to some of our fitness classes — you might even have a little fun while you do something great for yourself!

Massage Room

Cruising always feels good, but it doesn’t usually — ooh, right there. Right where? Sorry, we’re at the onboard spa, where they do these amazing massages by hand. But they don’t just stop there — they’ve got tools to enhance the benefits too. Select from different hands-on experiences featuring seaweed for detox, herbal poultice for energy, bamboo for deep tissue penetration and hot stones for — ahhh — for perfection. We know you’re all about feeling good, and so are these massages.

Sauna

A trip to the salon is an opportunity to relax, to chat with others, to focus on yourself. It’s about more than just getting your hair or nails done… but it’s definitely about getting your hair or nails done! Even though you’re on vacation, you won’t have to settle for anything less than the salon style you’re used to back on land. And these good looks go beyond the usual — we even offer services like teeth whitening… great for taking those ‘I’m on vacation and I’m looking great!’ smiles to the next level.

Other fun-filled activities include the Twister Waterslide, Spa Carnival, the RedFrog Rum Bar, The Punchliner Comedy Club, Seuss at Sea and Camp Ocean. This is just the beginning of what to expect from a ship that’s sure to dazzle your senses and provide memories to last a lifetime.

21 Tips and Tricks for Cruising on Carnival Valor

Picture of Heather Baxter

Heather Baxter

  • October 2, 2018
  • 2.1K shares

Although not quite as new and large in size as Carnival Vista , which is now also home-ported in Galveston, Carnival Valor has many of the same fun-filled features that cruisers know and love.

Carnival Valor view of the sea

1. Try the Sushi

While it’s not the branded Bonsai Sushi as seen on many of the line’s newer ships, the lido deck has a spot called Sushi at Sea. As an express sushi restaurant, you order at a window and take the food away rather than dining at a sit-in restaurant like at Bonsai Sushi. However, it features some of the same menu offerings such as the Bang Bang Bonsai Roll, a spicy tuna roll, sashimi, and more. The cost is à la carte, averaging about $5 per roll.

2. Pack Light

Carnival Valor operates short four and five-night cruises, so it should be easy to pack light. (I say that, of course, as someone who always overpacks.) The real motivating factor to pack light, however, is self-assist debarkation. Carrying your own bags off the ship versus waiting for your zone to be called and then searching for your bag among thousands of others will always be a quicker process, especially while the ship is still cruising out of the Port of Galveston – a port with a reputation for painfully slow debarkation lines.

3. Book the Steakhouse

As of August 20, 2018, Carnival updated its steakhouse menu, adding a significant number of appetizers like bone marrow & hand-cut beef tartare and a crab risotto. New entrées include an A-5 wagyu and a farm-raised honey vinegar chicken dish. And although the cheesecake is no longer listed on the new menu, it is still available to order! The new menu is increasing demand, so book your reservation early.

View Carnival Valor Deck Plans

4. Check Out the Secret Decks

Many of Carnival’s ships, including the Conquest class ships, have “secret decks” at the front that many people don’t realize are accessible. Located just beneath the Captain’s Bridge, these decks offer stunning views to see exactly what’s ahead on the horizon.

5. Grab a ‘Coffee Lovers’ Rewards Card

If you visit the coffee bar, be sure to grab a coffee lovers rewards card to get stamped each time you purchase a coffee or tea. After six drinks purchased, your seventh is free with the rewards card.

6. Order Juevos Rancheros and Arepas at BlueIguana Cantina

If you’ve never had breakfast at BlueIguana Cantina, you’re seriously missing out. And while many people go for the amazing breakfast burritos (be sure to add on the crispy hashbrowns!), the juevos rancheros and the arepas deliver flavor on a whole new level. For those wondering, juevos rancheros is a Mexican dish consisting of a fried egg served on top of a fried tortilla, and at BlueIguana you’ll also get chicken. Arepas are a Venezuelan and Colombian dish and are usually a flat patty made of maize flour and filled with something: at BlueIguana, it’s cheese. Hungry yet?

7. Pre-Purchase the Drink Package

This tip goes for any Carnival cruise, but it seems like many first-time cruisers like to sail on the shorter itineraries on ships like Valor to “test the waters” (pun intended). But if you know you’ll be enjoying a few beverages each day – including some non-alcoholic ones like energy drinks or milkshakes – save a few bucks and pre-purchase the Cheers package.

8. Serenity Serves Sangria

Sangria is the wine lover’s answer to a cold, refreshing drink for a hot day, and Valor’s Serenity Deck serves four different options (technically five, as one is available as with either red or white wine). The bar also features a wide selections of wines, beer, and signature cocktails, including a “Skinny Cocktails” section for the calorie conscious.

9. Don’t Forget the Atrium Bar

The popularity of watering holes like Alchemy Bar, RedFrog Pub, RedFrog Rum Bar, and BlueIguana Tequila Bar sometimes makes them overcrowded and loud. However, oftentimes the atrium bar is clear of the same congestion due to its more secluded location down on deck 3. While it may get busier when large crowds pass through the atrium such as after a theater show or during a big trivia event, in general the atrium bar tends to see lighter traffic in the evening.

10. Get BBQ on Embarkation Day

Carnival Magic BBQ

The Ol’ Fashioned BBQ on Valor is a (complimentary) hidden gem, tucked away on deck 10 directly above the continental buffet on lido. On embarkation day, it’s nearly a ghost town. But after the first sea day, people discover what it is and where it is, and the lines start to grow. The added bonus: Although Valor’s BBQ spot is not a branded Guy Fieri Smokehouse like you’ll find on other ships, Fieri’s range of BBQ sauces are provided for extra flavor.

11. Grab Specialty Coffee on Lido

People swarm to the coffee bar on the promenade deck like bees to honey in the mornings. This can cause really long lines, and with typically only one crew member working the coffee bar the wait gets fairly long. However, there’s also a full-service coffee bar at the aft of lido deck that fewer people know about, meaning shorter lines and a quick caffeine fix.

Carnival coffee bar

12. Play Some Trivia

I used to never be one to play the trivia or the games onboard, but the new Hasbro partnership really improved the onboard offerings. For example, I spent an entire hour in the atrium one day just watching others play Trivial Pursuit because the game itself was interesting and the entertainment director made it into a show with how he injected humor and energy into the game.

13. Bring Your Own Straw

When the company announced they were going green and eliminating single-use straws, they were not kidding. The bartenders will still give you a straw if you ask for one, but it seemed like the ship is stocking fewer straws in general. In one instance, I ordered an iced latte at the coffee bar (a drink served in a cup that essentially demands a straw), and the barista apologized that she had run out of straws. (Luckily, I brought my own stainless steel reusable straw from home, bought off Amazon.)

14. Walk the Sports Track

Sure, there’s a fantastic gym onboard with treadmills, but when else can you walk outside with the sea? Enjoy a walk around the sports track on deck 11 to catch some fresh ocean air and stunning sea views.

15. The Spa is Free

While Valor lacks the upgrades of a Cloud 9 spa, it still offers a complimentary sauna and steam rooms. Located inside each of the men’s and women’s locker rooms, they are the perfect, most relaxing way to start or end your day.

16. The Aft Pool is Humid

The aft pool on Valor and other Conquest-class ships, located on deck 9, is enclosed by a second deck (10), which also has a retractable roof. When the roof is closed, the humidity inside the pool area can become almost unbearable. And even when the roof is open, the area can still be humid due to the limited airflow blocked by the second deck. The breezier the day, the less humid the area will be, but keep this in mind if you plan to spend all your time there.

aft pool cruise ship

17. Play Games at the Pub

Many people like to hang out in the library and play board games, but don’t forget that RedFrog Pub has games too, like checkers, bean bag toss (also known as cornhole), and a ring toss game. There’s also a nightly beer pong competition there, making it a much more lively atmosphere for game-play.

18. Mongolian Wok is Worth the Wait

Valor has such an extensive range of options for lunch, but a favorite among cruisers is still the Mongolian Wok. Unfortunately, as a popular spot this means it tends to attract a crowd with a long line, but I have yet to come across anyone who said it wasn’t worth the wait.

19. Pizza Pirate Delivers

Carnival recently started testing a pizza delivery service onboard its ships, and Carnival Valor is one of them. For just a $5 delivery fee, you can order pizza from Pizza Pirate (open 24/7) from anywhere on the ship through the Carnival HUB app, and a crew member will deliver it to you wherever you are.

20. Don’t Miss ‘Groove for St. Jude’

Whether or not you want to join in on the ‘groove’ part, Groove for St. Jude is always one of the best parts of any Carnival cruise. For just a $10 donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, you’ll receive a t-shirt and bracelet, plus the good feeling of giving back. Thanks to your donations, St. Jude ensures no family ever receives a bill for the care that children receive at its hospitals.

21. SkyBox Sports Bar Serves Hot Pretzels

Okay, we’ll admit they’re pretty basic ballpark pretzels, but for only $1.25 you can’t beat the ability to order a hot pretzel while watching a sports game on the big screen. It’s almost like you’re at the stadium – but better yet, you’re at sea!

The Valor can hold 2,980 based on double occupancy (two people per room) and more when you take into account 3rd and 4th passengers. When you compare the total tonnage of the ship to the number of passengers, the Valor has a space ratio of 37. Depending on the ship, this number can range from 30 to 52 (with a bigger number meaning more space per person) so this ship has less space per person than average.

The Valor is one of six Conquest-class ships currently sailing with Carnival. The Conquest-class has the most number of ships in the Carnival fleet. They're similar in design to the Sunshine-class ships but haven't received the major overhauls those ships had. Still, these ships have many Carnival staples like Dive-in Movies, Guy's Burger Joint, Blue Iguana Burritos, a kid's splash area, and the Alchemy Bar. The Valor is very similar to its sister-ships; Conquest, Glory, Liberty, Freedom and Splendor, although each ship may have some differences.

Carnival Valor Food and Restaurants

Guys Burger Joint on the Carnival Valor

Food is a big part of any cruise, and there will plenty on the Carnival Valor. You have 12 different dining options to choose from. Of those options, 8 are complementary, or included with your cruise fare. The other 4 options have an additional fee. Some of those options are a set price and some have a la cart menu pricing. 67% of the dining options are included which means if you're watching your budget, you won't feel like you're missing out by not going to a lot of extra fee dining places.

Carnival Valor Bars and Drinks

Eagle Aft Lounge on the Carnival Valor

Carnival Valor has 13 different bars and lounges where you can enjoy a beer or cocktail.

Alcohol is not included in the base price of this cruise ship. To see if you would save money with a drink package, try our Drink Package Calculator.

Carnival also serves the Pepsi family of products. That means Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Starry, Mug Root Beer, and Mountain Dew, although the selection can vary by ship.

Pools and Hot Tubs on Carnival Valor

Lido Pool on the Carnival Valor

Nothing beats relaxing by a pool with a nice drink in hand as you feel the fresh sea breeze pass by you. The problem is that with thousands of people on a ship, there's not always room. If you want to spend all day in a pool, a cruise might not be the right choice. You would have a much better bet choosing a resort with a huge pool complex. That being said, a quick dip in the pool can be nice on a hot day.

The Carnival Valor has a total of 2 pools and 4 hot tubs.

Tired of loud kids and splashing? 1 of the pools and 2 of the hot tubs are adults only.

Carnival Valor Features and Activities

There are quite a few things to do on the Valor. These are the main amenities that are available. Some are included in the cost of the cruise, while others have an additional charge.

Carnival is a mainstream cruise line. Mainstream cruise lines cater to a variety of guests, hoping to provide something for everyone. These typically cost about $100 - $350 per person per day.

Cruise pricing is dynamic and varies for each specific sailing based on factors such as departure point, ports of call, and time of year.

Carnival Valor Onboard Costs

Another way to gauge the cost of a cruise is to consider how much you'll spend on board. Even though a lot is included in the base cruise fare, you may still spend money on things like spa treatments, specialty dining, drinks, and excursions. In addition, guests can also have to pay for things like gratuities and tips.

Typically guests can expect to spend about 25 - 40% of the cost of the cruise on onboard expenses. In other words, if the cruise fare is $1,000 per person, you might spend between $250 and $400 on extra expenses.

The table below will help you understand what you might spend onboard a Carnival ship.

Carnival cruise food: The ultimate guide to restaurants and dining on board

O n a Carnival cruise, food is always one of the highlights. From Guy Fieri burgers to fancy steaks at Fahrenheit 555, you'll find endless options to satisfy your hunger in a highly enjoyable fashion. In fact, there's often more to eat and explore than you could possibly have time for in a single sailing.

If you're planning your next cruise and want to know which Carnival restaurants to expect on board, you've come to the right place. While certain dining venues remain a standard across all ships — like the much-loved Lido Deck buffet — the options keep expanding with every new ship launch. Plus, older ships are constantly being refurbished and updated with new restaurants. That's why we put together this comprehensive list of Carnival cruise restaurants and where you can find them.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

Consider this your ultimate guide to Carnival cruise food, with details about every restaurant in the fleet, as well as answers to the most commonly asked questions about dining on a Carnival cruise ship.

Carnival restaurants available fleetwide

Coffee bar or javablue cafe.

A la carte pricing; snacks

Black coffee and tea are free at the buffet and in the main dining room, but you'll want to come here for specialty coffee drinks like espresso or cold brew. You can also purchase milkshakes and baked goods when you need an extra pick-me-up (or grab free Danish pastries and croissants in the morning).

Dining room

Included; breakfast and dinner

The main dining room serves a sit-down breakfast and the nightly three-course dinner that's included in your cruise fare. Even better, Carnival's chief culinary officer, Emeril Lagasse, is now behind many of the dining room's new menu items. On Carnival, the main dining room comes with less pretense than on many other cruise lines. In fact, it's not uncommon for your servers to break out in song and dance by the end of the night.

Don't miss other special dining experiences like the complimentary Seaday Brunch menu or the family-friendly Dr. Seuss-themed breakfast for an additional fee ($10 to $15 per adult; $8 to $10 per child), which includes meet-and-greets with characters.

Lido Marketplace

Included; breakfast, lunch and dinner

Carnival's buffet on the Lido Deck has all the staple stations to keep you fed from morning until night. Try the deli counter, barbecue spot, pasta bar or Asian noodle station. Don't miss the always-essential salad bar or pizza station. Finish up with soft serve ice cream, frozen yogurt or an enormous cake slice and other goodies from the dessert station.

Included; snacks

No cruise experience is complete without on-demand soft serve. Open on the Lido Deck until midnight, the Swirls station serves up frozen yogurt and soft serve ice cream in the classic flavors of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, or you can enjoy your own combo swirl. The best part is it's self-serve, so no one can judge you for how often you come back for another cone.

The Chef's Table

Fixed price; dinner

This exclusive multicourse dining experience hosted by the ship's master executive chef takes place in untraditional spaces like the galley or library to give you a behind-the-scenes VIP feel. (Some newer ships even have a dedicated Chef's Table dining room with a window into the galley.) You'll be part of a group of only 14 to 16 guests, and the evening kicks off with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a tour of the galley. The dinner menu itself changes based on what's in season or local to the port, but it always includes wine pairings and, of course, dessert.

24-hour room service

A la carte; all-day dining

When hunger calls at odd hours of the night or you're craving a meal from the comfort of your balcony, you can access 24-hour room service on your Carnival cruise ship. Just pick up your cabin's phone and place your order. While room service is generally only available for a cost, Carnival does offer free continental breakfast delivery to your room from 6 to 10 a.m.

Pizza delivery

Fixed price; all-day dining

You can order pizza on the Carnival Hub app to wherever you are on the ship, any time of day, for a delivery fee of $5 per pie. Pro tip: Take a picture of yourself showing where you're located on board to help the pizza delivery staff find you.

Pizzeria del Capitano or Pizza Pirate

Included; lunch and dinner

The all-day pizza station is going to be your go-to option when you get back from a day at port and the lunch buffet is already closed or when you're hungry after a late night of partying. Choose from five prepared pizza options, ranging from classics like margherita and pepperoni to other delicious Italian favorites like funghi and prosciutto. Order a slice or get a whole pie delivered through the Carnival Hub app.

Blueiguana cantina.

Included; breakfast and lunch

This casual poolside spot serves up Mexican favorites like tacos and burritos with fillings including chipotle chicken, roast pork and battered fish. Order your tacos or burrito to your liking, then head to the salsa bar to add all your favorite toppings. In the morning, you can order breakfast burritos or huevos rancheros as an alternative to the typical Lido buffet breakfast.

This rustic restaurant serves made-to-order pasta and other Italian comfort food favorites like risotto and chicken Parmesan.

On Carnival Jubilee , Cucina Del Capitano is free for the whole sailing. On Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras, your first meal is included, with additional visits at a cost of $8 per person. The other ships with this venue currently charge a fixed price of $24 per adult.

On any of the ships, come to Cucina for a complimentary Captain's Pasta Bar at lunchtime. Just choose your pasta, sauce, meat and other mix-ins — buon appetito!

Available on : Carnival Breeze, Celebration, Horizon, Jubilee, Magic, Mardi Gras, Panorama, Radiance, Sunrise, Sunshine and Vista

Guy's Burger Joint

Included; lunch

Carnival's poolside burger joint was dreamt up by Food Network star Guy Fieri to feel like the kind of roadside burger shack you'd see on one of his episodes of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." Don't underestimate these simple smashburgers — they pack a ton of flavor.

Available on : Carnival Breeze, Celebration, Conquest, Dream, Elation, Freedom, Glory, Horizon, Jubilee, Legend, Liberty, Magic, Mardi Gras, Miracle, Panorama, Paradise, Pride, Radiance, Spirit, Splendor, Sunrise, Sunshine, Valor, Venezia and Vista

Here, you can find everything chicken — chicken sandwiches, crispy chicken strips and fried chicken baskets (even chicken biscuits at breakfast!) — plus essential sides like potato salad and jalapeno slaw.

Bonsai Teppanyaki

Fixed price; lunch and dinner

This Japanese hibachi-style restaurant is part meal and part performance, as your chef prepares your lunch or dinner at the griddle-top table in front of you. Available on : Carnival Celebration, Horizon, Jubilee, Mardi Gras, Panorama and Venezia

A modern Chinese-Mexican fusion concept, Chibang! is a specialty restaurant without the specialty prices. That's right, dining at Chibang! is free all sailing long for guests on Carnival Jubilee; on Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras, your first meal at Chibang is included and additional visits are only $8 per person. At lunchtime, you can order your own noodle bowl or burrito bowl (which makes it a great spot if your group has separate cravings), or at dinner, mix and match between cuisines and choose shareable plates for the table or order classic Mexican and Chinese mains.

Emeril's Bistro

Emeril's Bistro 1937 on Carnival Celebration also spotlights rotating international dishes daily in addition to these Nawlins favorites.

Carnival cruise food: Frequently asked questions

How do seating times work in the main dining room.

Before sailing, you must choose your preferred dining format for the main dining room — either set dining times with assigned seating or a flexible option called Your Time Dining with open seating. If you prefer a preset dining time and a guaranteed table with the same server every night, you can choose early dining at 5:30 p.m. or late dining at 7:45 p.m.

With Your Time Dining, you can go to the main dining room anytime between 5:15 p.m. and 9 p.m. to be seated on a first-come, first-served basis. Just alert the dining room that you're coming on the Carnival Hub app so your table will be ready sooner. You can request a specific waiter, but more likely, you'll sit at a different table with a new waiter each evening. You might have to wait for a table at peak dinner times, but Carnival says the average wait time is usually less than 20 minutes, depending on your party size.

Either way, there's no need to make a reservation for the main dining room.

Do you need reservations for specialty dining restaurants?

Reservations are highly recommended for specialty restaurants, as these locations can book up in advance. You can make reservations online up to 48 hours before your cruise by visiting the "Manage My Booking/Cruise Manager" section of Carnival.com, at which time you'll also pay the cover charge for the restaurant.

Once you get on board, look for staff set up at booths to help you make specialty dining reservations. You can also call or visit the restaurant yourself to make a reservation, but seating times might be limited. Walk-ins are allowed but will get seated based on availability. If you don't make a reservation, be prepared for a wait or the possibility of being turned away if the restaurant is booked.

Can you enjoy unlimited food on your Carnival cruise?

It depends on where you eat! There are no limits on most of the included food options, and you can pretty much find free food on your cruise from the crack of dawn to late into the night. You can always eat as much as you want at the buffet in Lido Marketplace and other included food stations across the ship during their operating hours. In the main dining room, however, guests are limited to two free entrees (which, let's be honest, is still plenty!) before having to pay for additional entrees.

Is there a fee for room service?

Room service isn't free on Carnival anymore, except during breakfast. Instead, menu items are available to order a la carte. Complimentary continental breakfast can be delivered to your room between the hours of 6 and 10 a.m. For more details, check out our complete cruise ship room service guide .

Are kids menus available?

Most dining venues offer kids menus with plenty of safe options for picky eaters (think: chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and spaghetti and meatballs). If you're dining at one of the specialty restaurants with a cover charge, there's a reduced fee for kids under 11.

Does Carnival still offer a Lobster Night?

Lobster is available for dinner nightly in the main dining room for a surcharge, but on cruise sailings of six nights or longer, Carnival offers one night per sailing (typically one of the formal nights) where a lobster tail is included as a complimentary entree option on the three-course menu. But don't expect to scarf down all the lobster you can eat. In line with Carnival's two-entree limit in the main dining room, guests now have to pay for any additional lobster past the first two entrees.
