Disney Vacation Club has just revealed some exclusive commemorative swag for Members aboard the ‘First Wave’ DVC Member Voyage to Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!

Scheduled for June 14, 2024, this unique sailing is one of the first to Lighthouse Point. Although not a DVC Member Cruise , it seems Disney wanted to have a few exclusive keepsakes to commemorate this special Member journey. Each member aboard will receive a specially designed Corkcicle bottle, a chic carrying case, and a stylish reversible bucket hat, ensuring that the memories of this magical voyage will be cherished for years to come.

It is important to note that this sailing is not a DVC Member Cruise and instead is an exclusive opportunity for DVC Members, similar to the Disney Wish sailing offered in 2022 . Disney Vacation Club stated, “Different from a Member Cruise, this voyage is part of the Disney Collection exchange. Therefore, regular cruise programing will not be altered, and daily in-room gifts are not included.”

The Wish cruise also required at least one guest to book with Disney Vacation Club points, unlike a DVC Member Cruise, which can be paid via cash. Additionally, the only points eligible to book a cruise are direct points and resale points that were grandfathered in (back when resale members received blue cards).

Member Services will be open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time on April 22 to book reservations for the 2024 Member-Exclusive Voyage to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and 2024 Member Cruise  only —as well as to assist with any Resort arrivals occurring within 5 days of the April 22 date. Due to the popularity of these Member-exclusive cruises, you may experience longer-than-usual wait times.

Member Services will reopen with normal operations at 9:00 AM Eastern Time on Sunday, April 23 to support all Membership requests.

An Improved Booking Process

As we continue to improve and respond to feedback from our Members, we have adjusted our Member-Exclusive Voyage Booking Day process to improve our ability to quickly secure your space during your initial inbound phone call.

After your initial inbound call, a Member Services Cast Member will contact you within 72 hours of Member-Exclusive Voyage Booking Day to finalize the payment of Points, or a combination of Points and cash, and to fully secure the booking.

• Member ID Number
• First, second and third stateroom category choices, as popular options sell out quickly for this event

For each person sailing on the Member-Exclusive Voyage, please have the following information ready:

• Legal name and middle initial, spelled as it appears in print on appropriate citizenship documentation

• Citizenship/nationality

• Additional fees may apply for recreational activities and Port Adventures.
• As this Member-Exclusive Voyage to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is part of the Disney Collection exchange, one person in the travel party must be paid for using only Reservation Points. Other members of the travel party can be paid for using cash. (Reservation Points and cash cannot be combined to pay for an individual Guest.)
• Disney Vacation Club will waive the initial transaction fee associated with booking your Disney Cruise Line reservation for this Member-Exclusive Voyage to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
• Disney Vacation Club will accept the following methods of payment for Members not using Reservation Points to book the cruise: Disney Gift Card, JCB, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. If paying by credit card, please have the credit card number, expiration date and the name that appears on the card available. Full payment is required at the time of call-back.
• For the safety of our Guests, women who have entered their 24th week of pregnancy as of the embarkation date or who will enter their 24th week of pregnancy during the cruise will be refused passage due to safety concerns. Neither a physician's medical statement nor a waiver of liability will be able to override the policy. Disney Cruise Line and Disney Vacation Club cannot be held responsible or liable for any complications relating to pregnancy at any stage.
• Disney Cruise Line policy prohibits infants less than 6 months of age on the date of embarkation to travel.
• Effective March 21, 2011, Members who do not purchase their Ownership Interests directly from Disney will not be able to use those Vacation Points to make reservations for the Member-Exclusive Voyage.  Effective June 3, 2021, to obtain a Disney Vacation Club Digital Membership Card, Members must accumulate a total of at least 150 Vacation Points purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc.
• Members may book a maximum of 4 staterooms per Membership.

Membership Extras—such as exchange options in the Disney Collection and options offered through hotel exchange, certain discounts, offers and special events—are incidental benefits. These incidental benefits are subject to change or termination without notice, may require the payment of a fee and cannot be combined with any other offers or promotions. Membership Extras are also subject to availability and blockout dates may apply, including high periods of demand such as Christmas and New Year's Day. 2nd ‘Atin Ito’ voyage to plant PH markers in Masinloc

A group pressing for the defense of Philippine sovereign rights over the country’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea against China’s encroachment is planning a voyage to Bajo de Masinloc to plant markers and deliver supplies to Filipino fishers in their traditional fishing ground next month.

Akbayan president Rafaela David, coconvener of Atin Ito, said her group would lead a “peace and solidarity regatta” of up to 100 fishing boats from Zambales province to the shoal, also known as Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal, about 220 kilometers away on May 15.

Atin Ito is a coalition of social activists, Church leaders, fisherfolk, entrepreneurs, artists and youth to defend Philippine sovereign rights in the West Philippines Sea (WPS) amid heightened maritime tensions between Manila and Beijing.

The objective of the civilian flotilla is “to reinforce our country’s territorial integrity,” according to David.

‘WPS is ours’

In 2016, an international arbitral tribunal ruling invalidated China’s expansive claims to nearly the entire South China Sea, including the West Philippine Sea, waters within the country’s 370-km EEZ.

Beijing refused to recognize the tribunal’s decision on the case filed by the Philippines challenging China’s claims and its nine-dash line in the strategic waterway.

David said the fishing boats would sail from Masinloc town in Zambales. On reaching the vicinity of the shoal, the Filipinos would place symbolic markers or buoys with the words, “WPS is ours!”

Sending a message

According to another Atin Ito coconvener, Edicio dela Torre, president of the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement, the placement of the markers “sends a resolute message: The West Philippine Sea is not up for grabs.”

“It belongs to us, and we, as active citizens, will peacefully defend it,” Dela Torre said.

Atin Ito has also invited international observers to join the voyage to monitor and document the situation in the West Philippine Sea and witness firsthand the challenges faced by Filipinos in those waters.

“In the face of adversity, we must stand firm in defending what is rightfully ours—nothing more, nothing less. Our sovereignty over the West Philippine Sea is not negotiable,” Dela Torre said.

“It is a fundamental aspect of our national identity and heritage, rooted in centuries of history and upheld by international law,” he added.

Bigger than first trip

The planned flotilla next month would be more than twice as big as the 40 civilian boats that took part in Atin Ito’s first voyage to the West Philippine Sea in December last year to deliver supplies and gifts to Filipino troops on the BRP Sierra Madre, a rusted World War II-era warship serving as a military outpost on Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal.

That Christmas holiday supply mission to Ayungin and other Philippine-occupied islands in the West Philippine Sea, was harassed by China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels.

The flagship boat cut short its trip and returned to El Nido in Palawan province after being “shadowed” by at least four Chinese vessels.

But one of the smaller boats in the convoy was able to reach the Philippine-occupied Lawak Island.

This time, David said the group was also planning to deliver essential supplies, including fuel, to Filipino fishers at Scarborough.

On Jan. 12 this year, Chinese vessels drove away Filipino fishermen who were collecting sea shells near the south entrance of the shoal while another Filipino fishing boat was harassed by CCG on a rubber boat.

In February, President Marcos said the presence of Chinese warships in the West Philippine Sea was “worrisome.”
